WCW 1994: Life With Hogan

<p>Just a little update on this one as of right now.</p><p> </p><p>

This one is not dead, first of all. I have a lot more story to tell for the future. The only thing standing in the way of that is school and a beach trip this weekend (leaving tomorrow and coming back on Sunday). This means that this diary is definitely going to be going at a slower pace right now than people might be used to when it comes to me. I know that there have been some diaries in the past that I've put the shows out at lightning speed.</p><p> </p><p>

But there is where this diary stands right now. I hope you will all be patient with me during this time and keep reading!</p>

Instead, it's his manager <strong>Diamond Doll</strong>. Doll walks out from the back and stands about midway down the aisle, doing a little dance and almost a striptease type of fashion. Sting is definitely distracted and doesn't see <strong>Diamond Dallas Page</strong> come out of the crowd behind him and enter the ring with a chair in hand. Page brings the chair down on the back of Sting, doubling over the WCW Franchise -- Diamond Cutter! DDP drops Sting with the Diamond Cutter just like he did last week! DDP does the self-high five and then yells at Sting off-microphone to quit looking at his wife. DDP exits the ring and heads to the back with the Diamond Doll as officials come out to check on Sting.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Match 1: </strong><strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">WCW World Television Title Match</span></strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36672" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/wcwtv.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/StevenRegal.jpg</span> w/ <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/SirWilliam.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/VS.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/ArnAnderson.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Lord Steven Regal defends vs. 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson</span></strong></p><p> The opening match here on WCW Saturday Night is a World Television title defense. This was a classic back and forth match between these two wrestlers that saw Anderson get an early advantage, focusing in on the arm and shoulder of Regal, dissecting the one body part like an Anderson always does. Anderson scores a couple of quick near falls before a distraction by Sir William allows Regal to gain the advantage. Regal takes down Anderson with a double underhook suplex and floats over, making the cover: One, Two, Kickout! The crowd is solidly in the corner of Anderson as he begins to make a comeback that gets stifled when the referee gets in the way. Anderson brings down Regal with a slam and then moves outside the ring, reaching beneath the ring. He comes back up and moves around toward Sir William. He strikes Sir William with a tire iron! Anderson slides in the ring, waiting for Regal to get to his feet -- WHAM! Regal falls flat on his back after being hit with a tire iron! Anderson tosses the weapon out of the ring, revives the referee and makes the cover: One, Two, Three! We have a brand new WCW World Television Champion!</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Arn Anderson p. The shaky cam style shows that it's someone who's not one hundred percent comfortable behind the camera. We reach a locker room and standing there behind the door is <strong>The Guardian Angel</strong>! He turns and looks at the camera, frowning.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>The Guardian Angel:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"What do you want, Steve?"</span></span></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Steve Austin:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"I just wanted to get a glimpse of you before you become an oil stain on the mat after Vader gets through with you. Stud turns his back to get some crowd approval but he gets assaulted from behind by Vader to start the match. The match is completely a one-sided affair with Vader absolutely pummeling Stud into the mat. Harley Race cheers on Vader from ringside as Vader squashes Stud in the corner with an avalanche. Vader keeps Stud up-right in the corner, hammering him with forearm shots again and again. He tucks Stud in between his legs and barks out, asking the world 'Who's the man?' He picks up Stud -- Release Power Bomb! Stud is planted on the mat! Vader drags Stud's lifeless body over by the corner and then he climbs to the second turnbuckle -- Vader Bomb! Jack and Sullivan have an early advantage that is taken away quickly by interference by Col. Robert Parker. Sullivan is isolated in the corner of the Stud Stable and the two veterans use quick tags in and out to keep Sullivan down. Funk goes for a Texas Piledriver but Sullivan manages to reverse the finishing hold with a back body drop. The crowd is behind Cactus and Kevin as Sullivan crawls over and tags in Jack. Jack comes in throwing punches to both members of the Stud Stable. He takes Funk outside the ring with a Cactus Clothesline. Jack gives a 'bang, bang' that draws cheers from the crowd. Sullivan and Buck brawl in the ring, in one corner. Jack brings Funk back in the ring, ducking a clothesline attempt by Col. Robert Parker. Jack smiles a toothy smile before he enters the ring. He catches Funk with the Double Arm DDT! Jack makes the cover: One, Two, Three!</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan p. The matches tonight have been fairly even and that is no different with this match. We have the team speed of Stars 'n' Stripes against the power and ruthless brawling ability of The Nasty Boys. The Patriot suffers from a Pity City double team by the Nasties. But that is not the end of the match. The Patriot manages to tag out to Marcus Bagwell, who hits both Nasty Boys with dropkicks! Bagwell gets fired up by the crowd. The Patriot enters the ring to cut off Brian Knobbs and sends him out of the ring. The #1 contenders look like they are in trouble as Bagwell heads to the top turnbuckle. The Patriot lifts Sags into a vertical suplex, showing his power. He holds Sags up as Bagwell leaps and catches Sags with a cross body. The cover is made: One, Two, Three! The Express start off strong until Ricky Morton gets caught up in the corner of Harlem Heat. Booker and Stevie use quick tags in and out, keeping Morton on the mat for the majority of the middle portion of the match. Stevie Ray catches Morton with a big boot as Gibson claps his hands, trying to get the crowd fired up for Morton. Ray tags back out and Booker T kicks Morton in the gut before bouncing off the ropes -- Scissors Kick misses! Morton catches Booker with a clothesline and both men are crawling to their corners. Stevie Ray is tagged in and he grabs Morton to prevent the tag but Morton kicks him backward and then crawls between his legs to tag in Gibson! Gibson comes in with a dropkick, knocking Ray back into a corner. Gibson climbs up and slams down ten punches to the head of Stevie Ray. Booker T and Ricky Morton enter the ring but Morton manages to send Booker shoulder-first into the ring post through the turnbuckles and then out of the ring entirely. The Express set up Stevie Ray in the center of the ring and catch him with their signature Double Dropkick! This will determine which match has the defense of the belt at Bash At The Beach. The Guardian Angel starts off strong, showing that Austin cannot hope to match power for power with him, especially in a test of strength that Austin loses badly. Austin eventually goes for a breather outside the ring but the Guardian Angel doesn't let him stay out there alone. The Guardian Angel chases Austin around the ring until Austin manages a sneak attack strike on Angel and sends him head-first into the steel steps at ringside. The match returns to the ring where Austin chokes The Angel for a four count before breaking the hold so he isn't DQed. Austin does a focus on the knee of The Angel, keeping him down on the mat to neutralize the power game. Austin taunts The Angel with his camera reel motion and then goes for That's A Wrap but The Angel rolls him up in a small package: One, Two, Kickout! The Angel begins firing back with the crowd here in New York behind him. He catches Austin with an avalanche in the corner and then with the spinning side slam! The Guardian Angel makes the cover: One, Two, it's broken up by the interference of Vader! Vader tucks The Angel between his legs and then lifts him up -- Release Power Bomb! The Angel is down! Duggan is a straight-ahead fighter, not really known for his smarts in the ring and he goes right after Flair. Flair uses both the ropes and escapes outside the ring to keep Duggan at bay, frustrating the larger man. Duggan moves outside the ring to chase Flair. Flair slides back in the ring and attacks Duggan as Duggan follows him in. Flair drops a couple of knees to the back of Duggan and then moves him to the corner, lacing Duggan's chest with those knife-edge chops. Flair points to a sign in the crowd that reads: 'WOOOOOOOOOOOOO > HOOOOOOOOOOO' and then lays in another chop on Duggan. Duggan staggers out of the corner and is taken down with a chop block. Flair turns his focus to the knee of Duggan, keeping him down on the mat and using the ring post as a weapon as well, ramming Duggan's knee into the post. One fan in the crowd raises a sign that says: 'If you're a Flair fan, I encourage you get the FLAIR out!' He picks up Flair and whips him into the turnbuckle. Flair flips up and over the turnbuckle as Duggan grabs his knee in pain. Flair runs along the apron and climbs the turnbuckle but gets caught by Duggan. Duggan slams Flair off the top turnbuckle and then grabs his knee again, shaking his head and trying to shake it off. Flair rolls out of the ring and Duggan, once again, follows him. Flair strikes Duggan on the knee with something he picked up at ringside. The camera zooms in to show it's the tire iron that Arn Anderson left after the first match! Flair gets Duggan back into the ring and releases a Whooooo. Within a few more moves, including a diving knee drop, Flair grabs the legs of Duggan and hooks on the Figure 4 Leglock! Duggan struggles in the hold, the crowd trying to get him into it, to break the hold. But Duggan has no choice but to submit.<p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ric Flair d. Instead, Flair grabs the ropes to use for leverage and put more pressure on 'Hacksaw!' The crowd begins chanting for Hulk Hogan and he does not disappoint! <strong>Hulk Hogan</strong> comes running in from the back, sliding into the ring and breaking the hold. Flair begs off and quickly exits the ring as Hogan tears off his t-shirt! Hogan turns to check on his friend's condition, yelling for EMTs. Flair gets back in the ring behind Hogan and decks him with the tire iron! Hogan drops to a knee and Flair wraps the tire iron around his throat, choking him out. He brings Hogan right to the mat beside Duggan and then smiles, throwing the tire iron away. He places a foot on Hogan's chest, yelling for Tommy Young to give him his belt. The referee does so and Flair raises the belt as the show goes off the air. We'll see you tomorrow for The Main Event and Bash At The Beach!</p>

The early goings of the match had Sting going right on the attack against DDP. An early dropkick sends DDP escaping outside the ring to catch a breather. DDP uses the Diamond Doll to protect himself when Sting follows him outside the ring. He tosses the Doll into Sting and then clotheslines Sting to the ground outside the ring. He slams Sting against the guardrail and makes the Diamond symbol with his hands to boos from the crowd. The action returns to the ring where DDP brings Sting down to the mat with a discus clothesline. DDP makes the cover but only gets a one count. He picks up Sting and sends him to the ropes -- A Trip To The Diamond Mine! DDP makes the Diamond Symbol again, drawing boos from the crowd. DDP moves in with a reverse chinlock and the fans get into it. Cheers come from the crowd and chants of 'Sting, Sting, Sting' echo throughout the Orlando Arena. Sting uses this to gain a second wind and bring DDP down with a back suplex. Both men are on the mat as the referee begins the ten count. Both men use the ropes to get to their feet and punches are thrown with the crowd solidly behind Sting. Sting ducks a clothesline and then whips DDP into a corner -- Stinger Splash! He brings DDP down with a one handed bulldog! The Diamond Doll climbs onto the apron but Sting walks over and she quickly jumps down. Sting turns back to DDP and lifts him up -- Tombstone Piledriver! The crowd is definitely happy as Sting begins his celebration, climbing the turnbuckles. <strong>Diamond Doll</strong> enters the ring to check on <strong>Diamond Dallas Page</strong>. She helps him up a little bit but Page pushes her away in anger. He walks toward the corner where Sting is celebrating. He turns Sting around -- Diamond Cutter! Sting is planted in the center of the ring! DDP begins putting the boots to him before dragging him up for a second Diamond Cutter! The crowd boos as DDP makes the Diamond Symbol. He picks up the fallen Diamond Doll and the two move toward the back.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Match 2: </strong><strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">#1 Contender To WCW World Television Title Match</span></strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36672" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/StevenRegal.jpg</span> w/ <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/SirWilliam.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/VS.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/MarcMero.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Lord Steven Regal vs. Johnny B. Badd does everything he can to increase the speed of this match at nearly all costs. He hits Regal with a suicide dive outside the ring that nearly takes both men out. A distraction by Sir William helps Regal gain the advantage. Regal throws some European Uppercuts in a corner back inside the ring. He goes for the Regal Stretch but Badd manages to get to the ropes before the hold can really be established. Badd fights back with several punches, including the Tutti Frutti! Badd climbs the turnbuckles -- Shooting Star Press! He hooks the leg: One, Two, Three!</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Johnny B. Badd p. The two men shake hands and then part ways and the camera follows <strong>Ricky Morton</strong> moving down a hallway. He pauses for a moment and looks around and then gets assaulted from behind by <strong>Harlem Heat</strong>! <strong>Booker T</strong> and <strong>Stevie Ray</strong> slam Morton against the wall. Booker hits him with a Harlem Sidekick! Morton goes down and Stevie Ray mounts him, throwing punches. <strong>Robert Gibson</strong> shows up on the scene and runs in to save his partner but he catches a big boot from Stevie Ray! Booker T chokes Gibson with his boot. Both men show a willingness to do whatever it takes to win this match, including The Guardian Angel nearly using a chair on Vader but the referee stepped in to stop him. The referee removing the chair gave Vader the opening he needed and he sent the Angel into a corner and began pummeling him with forearm shots around the head. Vader continues in control for most of the remainder of the match. The Guardian Angel gets in a few shots but Vader manages to bring him down with a powerslam and lay his body in the corner. Vader climbs to the second turnbuckle -- Vader Bomb! He hooks the leg: One, Two, Three!</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Vader p. Vader yells out 'Who's the man?!?!?!' to boos from the crowd. He tucks The Guardian Angel in between his legs and then lifts him up, walking over to the ropes. Without any thought for The Guardian Angel, Vader release power bombs him over the top rope to the floor! The Guardian Angel lands with a splat and he is not moving at all! Vader and Harley Race celebrate inside the ring as the crowd boos, standing to get a look at the fallen Guardian Angel.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/ArnAnderson.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/DustinRhodes.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">No Honor Among Thieves?</span></span></strong></p><p> The pay-per-view moves from the ringside area to the backstage area where <strong>Arn Anderson</strong> and <strong>Dustin Rhodes</strong> are preparing for their match tonight. The Enforcer tells Dustin that tonight he is going to bring forth the old Arn Anderson and that the kid shouldn't get in his way. Rhodes stands up to him and tells Anderson that 'he' will handle the match tonight and that he needs to listen to him. The argument is short-lived as their match is next. Rhodes walks off and Anderson picks up a tire iron, staring daggers at Rhodes's back.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Match 4</strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36672" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/TerryFunk.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/JimmyGolden.jpg</span> w/ <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RobertFuller.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/VS.jpg</span></p><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/ArnAnderson.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/DustinRhodes.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Terry Funk and Bunkhouse Buck vs. 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson and 'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes</span></strong></p><p> This match is a wild brawl from the beginning with all four wrestlers starting in the ring to begin the match. The match itself is fairly open with all four men showing some wrestling skill during the battle. Anderson and Rhodes definitely show some dissension during this match and that leads to the Stud Stable holding the advantage over Rhodes in their corner. Frequent double-teams are the name of the game by the Stud Stable. They toss Rhodes outside the ring and Col. Robert Parker walks over to interfere but he is stopped by Arn Anderson wielding the tire iron. Rhodes gets to his feet outside the ring and sees the weapon in Anderson's hand. Rhodes shoves Anderson and Anderson raises the tire iron. Then he shakes his head and walks off toward the back in silence, leaving Rhodes in a 2 on 1 situation. Anderson walks past a sign reading: 'Cheese with THAT wine?!' Rhodes enters the ring and goes right after both Funk and Buck. A fan in the stands raises a sign reading: 'Keep those studs stabled!' That's exactly what he does, focusing in on Bunkhouse Buck in particular. The crowd is amazed when Rhodes lands the Bulldog on Buck. This was not the best match on the card and some used it for a bathroom break. When the Nasty Boys came down to the ring, Brian Knobbs ripped up a fan's sign that read: 'Nasty Boys vs The Nasty from that god awful film Neverending Story III! BOOK IT!' The match was slightly open in the beginning, including Kevin Sullivan taking a Pity City from Jerry Sags. A fan raised up a sign reading: 'What a NASTY Shot!' The action moved outside the ring where all four men got involved. The World Tag Team Champions took control and Cactus hit a flying elbow off the apron onto Brian Knobbs, doing his usual 'Bang, Bang' taunt. The action returns to the ring where Cactus Jack catches Knobbs with the Double Arm DDT. Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan are shown watching this match backstage in a small window in the lower right hand corner. The match itself is not a whole lot to write home about. It is pretty open between both of these teams as they both look to become the top contenders. The Patriot is a face-in-peril during the middle portion of the match as Orndorff and Roma make quick tags in and out in their corner. Roma goes for a top rope splash on The Patriot but The Patriot gets a boot up right into the face of Roma! A fan raises a sign that reads: 'Wonderful Stars!' Both men crawl to their corners and tag out. Marcus Bagwell leaps over the top rope with a dropkick on Orndorff. He throws a punch to Roma when he comes in. He turns his attention back to Orndorff as The Patriot comes in. Both Bagwell and The Patriot put Orndorff and Roma respectively into opposite corners and climb up. They rain down punches on Orndorff and Roma, the crowd counting along to ten. They drop down and whip Orndorff and Roma toward each other -- reversed! The Patriot and Bagwell duck each other and take down their opponents with clotheslines! The Patriot picks up Orndorff, setting him up in that vertical suplex position when all hell breaks loose. Steve 'Dr. Death' Williams and Terry 'Bam Bam' Gordy come running into the ring and attack everyone inside, causing the referee to call for the bell.</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Pretty Wonderful Draw Stars 'n' Stripes =C-</span></strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/PaulOrndorff.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/PaulRoma.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/MarcusBagwell.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/ThePatriot.jpg</span></p><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/SteveWilliams.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/TerryGordy.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Miracle Violence Connection!</span></span></strong></p><p> This match is obviously thrown out due to the interference by <strong>Steve Williams</strong> and <strong>Terry Gordy</strong>. <strong>Paul Orndorff</strong> and <strong>Paul Roma</strong> are banged together and then tossed out of the ring. <strong>The Patriot</strong> tries to fight back but Williams and Gordy double team him. The former NWA World Tag Team Champions slam The Patriot down. Williams picks up <strong>Marcus Bagwell</strong> and raises him up on his shoulder -- Oklahoma Stampede! Stars 'n' Stripes and Pretty Wonderful have both been taken out by the team known as The Miracle Violence Connection! Williams and Gordy make the 'belt' motion at their waists and then exit the ring to some boos from the crowd.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/GeneOkerlund.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/BrianPillman.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Flyin' High!</span></span></strong></p><p> We are taken to the interview area at the top of the ramp where <strong>Gene Okerlund</strong> tells everyone to make sure they call the 900 hotline! There's information about the new WCW Training Center that is built by WCW. He, then, invites <strong>Flyin' Brian Pillman</strong> out for an interview. Pillman grabs a sign from ringside and holds it up: 'Free Brian!' Pillman gets to the stage area and talks about the last time that he was seen in WCW, which was when Steve Austin injured him. He says that tonight he just might be looking for some revenge. One never knows what Brian Pillman might be up to. Pillman smiles and remains at the top of the ramp even as it's time for our next match.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Match 7: </strong><strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">WCW United States Title Match</span></strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36672" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/wcwus.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/SteveAustin.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/VS.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RickySteamboat.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">'Stunning' Steve Austin defends vs. Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat</span></strong></p><p> Brian Pillman taunts Steve Austin when Austin makes his entrance but the two men do not come to blows before the match begins. Austin and Ricky Steamboat meet in the center of the ring and Austin does his camera reel motion. The taunt is met with a chop by Steamboat. Austin throws a punch. Steamboat with a chop! Austin with a punch! Steamboat ducks a punch and shoves Austin back into a corner, lacing his chest with chops again and again. Steamboat moves back and catches Austin with three straight arm drags and a dropkick. The Dragon catches Austin with a scoop slam and then makes a quick cover:</p><p> </p><p> 1...</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> Kickout!</p><p> </p><p> The crowd is definitely here in support of The Dragon. Austin rolls out of the ring quickly, trying to gain his bearings as he paces around ringside. Steamboat waits inside the ring for Austin to return inside and the next few minutes are spent with some good solid technical action by both men. Both men know how to wrestle and it shows in this match. Austin gains control over Steamboat and begins to focus on the knee of the Dragon. He drags Steamboat over to a corner and slides outside the ring just so that he can bang Steamboat's knee into the ring post. A fan raises up a sign that reads: 'Camera Reel!' and Austin obliges, doing the camera reel motion to Steamboat before sliding back in the ring. Austin continues his assault on Steamboat, focusing it in on the knee, mostly. He climbs to the second rope and drops a pointed elbow drop to the skull of The Dragon. Austin makes the cover, hooking the leg:</p><p> </p><p> 1...</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 2...</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> Shoulder Up!</p><p> </p><p> The crowd erupts as Steamboat gets his shoulder up and the match continues. The match reaches a turning point around the thirteen minute mark when Austin goes for the Stun Gun but Steamboat grabs the top rope to ensure that he doesn't hit the move. Steamboat turns back to Austin and Austin clotheslines Steamboat over the top rope but Steamboat skins the cat! Steamboat uses some strength to pull himself back over the top rope and into the ring. Steamboat holds his knee for a moment as Austin plays to the crowd and a fan that holds up a sign reading: 'Austin 3:16 says i just killed a Dragon!' Austin turns back to Steamboat and he gets hit with a chop! Another chop! The Dragon has all the momentum in the world for the next two minutes, keeping Austin down on the mat. Steamboat tries to climb the turnbuckles but the injured knee makes him slower than normal. Austin gets to his feet before Steamboat can fly and he sends Steamboat to the mat with a slam. Flyin' Brian Pillman comes down to ringside and then climbs onto the apron. He yells at Austin, getting the attention of the WCW United States Champion! The two men argue, giving Steamboat time to recover. Steamboat limps over to the corner again and climbs the turnbuckles slowly. Pillman drops off the apron as Steamboat is on the top turnbuckles. Austin turns back to Steamboat and the Dragon leaps: Diving Crossbody Press! Steamboat hooks the leg:</p><p> </p><p> 1....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 2....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 3!</p><p> </p><p> We have a NEW United States Champion!</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ricky Steamboat p. 'American Made' begins to play and the crowd jumps on their feet. Cheers and chants of 'Hogan' begin to fill the arena. Jimmy Hart walks out first, chanting Hogan through the megaphone before the challenger, the Immortal Hulk Hogan comes out. Hogan cups his hand to his ear and draws in more cheers as he walks down to the ring. He high fives the fans along the way and then steps inside, standing in his corner. '2001: A Space Odyssey' begins and the cheers turn to boos. Ric Flair comes walking out alone and walks right to the ring, climbing the stairs and stepping inside. He looks across toward Hogan and releases a 'Whoooooo.' The announcer announces both men, Flair doing a strut with his introduction. Referee Tommy Young raises the WCW World Heavyweight Title belt. He sets it down at ringside and then calls for the bell.</p><p> </p><p> The two men meet face to face and chest to chest in the center of the ring as Jimmy Hart jumps around at ringside. Flair gives Hogan a shove and Hogan barely moves back a step. Hogan shoves Flair and Flair falls to the mat, landing in a corner. He looks up toward Hogan and Hogan rips his Hulkamania t-shirt off to cheers from the crowd. Flair rises up quickly and charges Hogan, pushing him back in a corner -- knife-edge chop! Another chop! Another chop! Hogan no-sells the chops and shoves Flair down again. Flair pops back up and runs into a clothesline! A second clothesline! A third is avoided when Flair exits the ring and begins pacing. Hogan walks over to the ropes and Flair grabs him by the leg, tripping him up and dragging him outside the ring. Flair runs Hogan head-first into the ring post. The Nature Boy slams Hogan against the guardrail and then sends him back into the ring. Flair threatens Jimmy Hart at ringside as a fan seated nearby raises a sign that reads: 'Flairmania vs Hulkamania, WHO SURVIVES, And who to the 11th dimension of hell?' Flair enters the ring and bounces off the ropes -- diving knee drop connects! He makes the cover:</p><p> </p><p> 1....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 2....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> Shoulder Up!</p><p> </p><p> The crowd cheers when Hogan gets his shoulder up but Flair continues on the attack. He focuses his assault on the right knee of the man known as The Immortal. Flair stomps on the knee and then brings it to the bottom rope. He leaps and comes down on the knee, causing Hogan to cry out in pain. Flair begins a strut across the ring, releasing a 'Whooooo' that gets echoed by some fans and booed by others. The next few minutes, again, continues with Flair focusing on the knee. Flair brings Hogan to the mat with a shinbreaker and then wrenches the knee. He gives a sharp kick to that knee and then drops an elbow on the knee. Flair stands back up and then twists the legs of Hogan, going for the Figure 4. Hogan reaches up and rolls Flair into a small package:</p><p> </p><p> 1....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 2....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> Kickout!</p><p> </p><p> Flair rises up before Hogan but Hogan throws punches on his knees! Hogan pushes himself up to his feet and brings Flair to the mat with an axe bomber! Hogan limps and then picks Flair up, whipping him into the corner. Flair flips up and over the corner, landing on his feet on the apron. Flair runs along the apron and climbs the turnbuckles but Hogan limps over, catching Flair in the corner. Hogan does his best to slam Flair off the turnbuckle but both of them fall into the referee, all three of them crashing to the mat. There is no one to make a count as all of them lay on the mat. Jimmy Hart yells at ringside, trying to encourage Hogan to get to his feet. The crowd begins a 'Hogan' chant as Hogan begins to stir slightly. Then the crowd boos as Arn Anderson comes running toward the ring. Anderson slides in the ring just as Hogan gets to his feet. Hogan turns and Anderson grabs him -- Spinebuster! The Double A Spinebuster connects on Hogan! Anderson runs his thumb across his throat and then grabs Flair, dragging Flair on top of Hogan. Anderson drags referee Tommy Young over and then exits the ring coming face-to-face with Mr. T! Mr. T knocks Arn Anderson to the floor with a single punch, threatening him with the chain. Referee Tommy Young raises his hand to count in the ring:</p><p> </p><p> 1....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 2....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> Kickout!</p><p> </p><p> A huge kickout by Hulk Hogan sends Ric Flair flying across the ring. NO!' Flair comes over and lays in some chops to Hogan's chest but Hogan no-sells them as he gets to his feet. Hogan points to Flair and Flair begs off for a moment before stepping in with a punch -- blocked! Punch by Hogan! Punch! Punch! Punch! Hogan whips Flair across the ring -- Big Boot! A damn fine show, ad! A few thoughts:

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the show. I wanted to make my first pay-per-view something special.

Well I guess I was wrong about Arn joining the Stable, but I'm glad to see I was right about the heel turn. Flair and Anderson together just always feels right.

Flair and Anderson together always feels right. I hope that the interference by Anderson in the main event had people wondering if that was how the main event was going to end.

Kinda surprised to see you change the US title here, but Austin looks like he has bigger problems on the horizon.

Steve Austin definitely has some other fish to fry coming up in this diary. I am glad that the U.S. title change was surprising. That's something that is always good to show in a wrestling show: unpredictability.

Good debut with the MVC.

The Miracle Violence Connection definitely has some big plans on the horizon. I am glad their debut has lived up to form.

I kinda wonder where Sting goes, I guess just elevating talents for the time being?

Sting, right now, is in an interesting position. He is not the top face of the company anymore but he's right there near the top. There are a few plans still out there for one of my favorite all-time wrestlers, though.

Great write-up, hit all the highlights very well. To the Hogan Era we go.

Again, I am glad you enjoyed the show. And, yes, on to the Hogan Era we go.

The rabid WCW fans are on their feet when some very familiar music begins playing. The crowd cheers as out comes the brand new United States Champion <strong>Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat</strong>! The Dragon shakes hands with some fans along the guardrail as he makes his way down to the ring. He climbs the stairs and enters the ring. He moves right to a turnbuckle, climbs up and raises the WCW United States Title belt to a roar of approval from the crowd. He is handed a microphone from ringside and he pauses to let some of the cheers die down. But, instead of the cheers, he is rewarded with a 'Dragon' chant. A smile curves his lips.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ricky Steamboat:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"Thank you. The crowd goes wild for his entrance but they are wondering just why he has come out here. He climbs onto the apron and leaps into the ring. He releases a howl that gets echoed back by the crowd. Steamboat accepts quickly and the two men embrace in a quick hug before Sting is given a microphone of his own.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Sting:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"Ricky, I am sure that you, like everyone else in this arena tonight, are wondering just why I came out here. Now, I was sitting in the back listening to you. You said that anyone who wants a shot at that title need only ask for it. Ricky, I say we give WCW and Omaha, Nebraska a match that they have never, ever seen before. Tonight, in this ring, in our main event, we have Ricky Steamboat defend the United States Title against Sting! What do you say? Do we have a deal?"</span></span></p><p> </p><p> Sting offers Steamboat a hand again, ready to shake on this. The announcers go wild at the thought of two of the most popular wrestlers going one on one tonight! Steamboat takes a moment to think about it and then he nods, taking Sting's hand and shaking on it. These two perennial fan favorites are going one on one here tonight for the U.S. title! Sting takes a step back and lets Steamboat have his spotlight back. He pauses at the top of the ramp and releases another howl, though, eyeing Steamboat and the belt before he disappears to the back. Steamboat turns and exits the ring, obviously leaving to prepare for his match tonight with Sting.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Match 1: </strong><strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">WCW World Television Title Match</span></strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36672" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/wcwtv.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/ArnAnderson.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/VS.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/MarcMero.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson defends vs. Johnny B. DDP nearly gets into it with the fan but, instead, security escorts the fan out of the building. The match itself is a fairly decent match with Jannetty nearly picking up a victory following a Superkick on DDP. Jannetty definitely shows that he can still hang in the ring but things change when DDP hides behind the Diamond Doll, using her to distract Jannetty. Jannetty takes a discus clothesline shot from DDP. Page sets Jannetty up and raises the Diamond Cutter sign before striking Jannetty with the Diamond Cutter. He says that Sting doesn't need to worry about title shots or anything like that. What he needs to worry about is taking the Diamond Cutter again. DDP says that he wants a rematch with Sting at Clash of the Champions this month. He will even let Sting pick the stipulation.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Diamond Dallas Page:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"What do you say, Stinger? Nick Patrick is the referee for this one and the match takes on a true back and forth air, with Pillman using his speed to keep Funk off-balance. But Funk works on keeping Air Pillman grounded. Funk has a slight advantage with Col. Robert Parker at ringside, who interferes liberally in this match. But it some mistimed interference by Parker that sets up the finish of the bout. Both Pillman and Funk are on their feet, throwing punches. Funk gets the advantage and whips Pillman toward the ropes -- reversed! Parker reaches out and trips up Funk! He didn't realize it was Funk! Pillman hits a suicide dive on Parker and then gets on the apron, waiting for Funk to reach his feet. As Funk does, Pillman springboards onto the top rope -- Air Pillman! He gets his hand raised but turns right into a punch from the former WCW United States Champion <strong>Steve Austin</strong>! Stunning Steve kicks Pillman in the gut and brings him over with a hard vertical suplex and then begins stomping away on the ankle that he originally hurt. Austin slides out of the ring and grabs a chair, eyeing the ankle but a herd of officials comes out to break things up before Austin can use the chair. Duggan tries to fight back but Vader is definitely too much for him at this point in time. The crowd cheers as Sting makes his way out to the ring first. He climbs the turnbuckles and beats his chest, releasing a howl that is echoed back by the fans in attendance. Another roar of cheers comes when Ricky Steamboat makes his way out to the ring. The WCW United States Champion high fives the fans and then enters the ring looking across toward his opponent, the first time these two men have ever been on opposite sides of the ring. The match is announced as having a twenty minute time limit, due to tv time remaining. Referee Tommy Young raises the belt high in the air for the world to see and then the belt is set at ringside. Sting and Steamboat meet in the center of the ring and shake hands before the bell rings for the start of this matchup.</p><p> </p><p> The early going of the match is definitely a feeling out process for both wrestlers. Neither man wants to make a mistake early on and that is shown by the clean breaks and the restholds early in this contest, including a headlock by Sting on Steamboat. The headlock is released when Steamboat sends Sting to the ropes. The Dragon catches Sting with an arm drag! Make that two! Steamboat hits Sting with a dropkick and Sting backs off into a corner to re-think some strategy. Both of these men have a lot of respect for one another. The match continues at a back and forth pace with Sting striking Steamboat with forearm shots in a corner but Steamboat firing back with chops to that granite-like chest of the Stinger. Sting no-sells a chop and lifts Steamboat high into the air in a military press fashion. The powerful Stinger presses Steamboat three times before Steamboat wiggles off and down Sting's back, pulling him into a sunset flip:</p><p> </p><p> 1....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 2....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> Kickout by Sting!</p><p> </p><p> Ten Minutes remaining! The ten minute mark is reached in this contest with both men jockeying for position and the WCW U.S. Champion taking a bit of control here in this contest. Steamboat focuses in on the right arm of Sting, using hammerlocks and armbars and arm drags and even hip tosses that all focus on that same arm, trying to weaken the more powerful foe. With the control, Steamboat manages to turn Sting into a chicken wing position! The crowd gets on their feet as Steamboat has gotten more than one wrestler to submit with that move. Sting shakes his head. He refuses to give up. Referee Tommy Young is right there to ask Sting if he wants to submit but Sting refuses, despite the pain that he is in. Sting gets some members of the crowd behind him in this moment. Some fans clap their hands and stomp their feet, trying to give him a second wind. These little Stingers give Sting the energy that he needs, the power of the second wind to break the hold. Sting bounces off the ropes and both men go for dropkicks. Neither of them connect and both men are down on the mat. It is Sting that manages to crawl over to Steamboat, sliding an arm over for a cover:</p><p> </p><p> 1....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> 2....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> ....</p><p> </p><p> Shoulder Up!</p><p> </p><p> Five Minutes Remaining! Only five minutes left in the tv time limit! Both men are down on the mat but are slowly pulling themselves up as the crowd seems to be right there in the ring with them, responding to everything. Just as in the beginning, the two men trade blows in the center of the ring. Sting ducks a closed fist punch by Steamboat and he sends Steamboat into the corner. Sting backs up into the opposite corner as the one minute remaining sound comes through the speaker system. Sting comes running across -- Stinger Splash! Steamboat turns and falls to the mat. Sting grabs the legs and turns quickly -- Scorpion Deathlock! Sting sits back in it as the ten seconds remaining announce is heard. Both men scream out loudly! Referee Tommy Young asks for the belt and then looks between the two men. The official announcement is made that the time limit expired. Ricky Steamboat is STILL the WCW United States Champion! Sting cannot believe it! He looks to the referee and grabs the title belt. He stares down at the belt for a few long moments as Steamboat pulls himself up in a corner. Steamboat asks for his belt and Sting looks up at him, frustration in his eyes. Steamboat meets Sting in the center of the ring and Sting...hands over the belt! The two men shake hands and Sting raises Ricky Steamboat's arm high in the air! What sportsmanship between these two men! The crowd is definitely happy but we still have a Championship Celebration to go!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/HulkHogan.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/JimmyHart.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">New Champion Celebration...Interrupted</span></span></strong></p><p> The ring has been cleared and 'American Made' begins to play over the speaker system. Hogan cups his ear to the crowd, getting that support that he's gotten throughout his career. He high fives the fans, kisses the babies and soaks in the cheers as he walks down to the ring. He steps inside the ring and the arena fills with a 'Hogan' chant! Jimmy Hart hands him a microphone but Hogan stands there in the center of the ring taking in the adulation from the crowd. Red and yellow balloons and confetti fall from the ceiling. After several minutes of Hogan simply standing there, he raises the microphone to his lips and gets interrupted.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RicFlair.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> The sounds of '2001: A Space Odyssey' are what interrupts this celebration. From the back walks the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion <strong>Ric Flair</strong>! He gets a mixed reaction from the crowd as he walks right down to the ringside area. He pauses at ringside, though, even as Hulk Hogan invites him into the ring. Flair shakes his head.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ric Flair:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"In case you haven't done your research, Hulk, I will tell you. I never come alone. Whooooooo."</span></span></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/ArnAnderson.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> Ric Flair is correct in saying that he never comes alone as down through the crowd comes his best friend. A man who has been Ric Flair's Enforcer for many years. That man is <strong>Arn Anderson</strong>. Anderson is holding a tire iron in one hand and he leaps the guardrail, taking a place on a second side of the ring. Anderson smiles. He has a microphone in hand.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Arn Anderson:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"Earlier this morning, my hand got a bit of a cramp in it. It got stuck in this position."</span></span></p><p> </p><p> Anderson holds up his right hand with four fingers sticking up in the air. Flair gives a strut up and down his side of the ring, releasing a 'Whoooooo' and then holding up four fingers of his own. The camera focuses in on Anderson and he smiles a little wider.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Arn Anderson:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"Like Ric said earlier, we never come alone."</span></span></p><p> </p><p> Arn Anderson and Ric Flair stand tall on their sides of the ring and there is a disturbance on the other two sides of the ring. The camera cannot focus on either of the two men that are coming down toward the ring. Hogan clenches his fist, looking around, ready for a fight in the ring. Jimmy Hart takes the belt and hides in a corner, expecting a battle to erupt at any minute. The identity of the two men are shown when they both jump the guardrail.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/SteveWilliams.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/TerryGordy.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong>'Dr. Death' Steve Williams</strong> and <strong>Terry 'Bam Bam' Gordy</strong> are the two mystery men! The two men take up spots at the last two available spots around the ring. The two men slowly raise up their right hands and four fingers move up high in the air. Each of them has a tire iron in their hands. Flair motions and all four men climb onto the apron. Flair points toward Hogan and Williams, Gordy and Anderson enter the ring assaulting Hogan! Hogan tries his best to fight back but even he cannot beat a three on one assault with tire irons. A shot by Anderson busts Hogan open! Blood pours down the face of the man known as The Immortal! Ric Flair steps in and grabs the WCW World Heavyweight Title belt from Jimmy Hart as Williams picks Hogan up on his shoulders. He moves into a corner and rushes across -- Oklahoma Stampede! He leaves Hogan laying on the mat as Anderson tosses Jimmy Hart out of the ring right beside a fan holding up a sign reading: 'Power of 4 will outlast the power of bulkamania!' </p><p> </p><p> Arn Anderson, Steve Williams and Terry Gordy all grab Hulk Hogan by the arms, holding him up. He struggles slightly but the three men keep him from moving. Ric Flair holds the WCW World Heavyweight Title belt up in Hogan's face. He reaches out and gets some of Hogan's blood, running it along the belt. He drops the belt and then exits the ring. He reaches beneath the ring and comes back up with four t-shirts. He tosses one to each of his three men and puts one on himself. The shirt is your typical IV Horsemen t-shirt. Hogan is left laid out in the middle of the ring with all four men standing behind his prone body raising four fingers. We'll see you tomorrow for the Main Event!</p>

I'm always interested to see people's 'new' Horsemen lineups, and unsurprisingly you've done a great job with this four! Looking forward to seeing how Gordy and Williams get on with Flair! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
