That crazy ol' momentum

Recommended Posts

This has probably been asked and answered many times, however, it's a pain to search through on my phone and then I thought maybe we could start a post full of experiences and assistance?

In my current game, a majority of my roster is suffering from their momentum plummeting... it could be failed storylines that took a backseat to my favorite ones, jobs done to folks, too long off of cards, etc (though I figured for an Occasional Wrestler it wouldn't hurt it) - any tips, suggestions, personal experiences to share?

Yeah..... I have no idea, I'm at a loss as well, I was slightly inebriated when I posted this last night... But it wouldn't be a horrible idea for momentum related things for folks, eh?

Well, actually, I guess common sense tells me that two workers with horrible momentum aren't going to get each other over at all...... I just need to start this stupid save over

A: Debut a worker in a high profile match or angle. He will get an easily obtained, very high momentum.

B: Job said worker to people you want to gain momentum.

If the person is a manager or personality, just spam him in angles. I messed up with Heenan once so I just used him as my default interviewer...he steadily is climbing in momentum. Hes about 10 points higher than he was a month and a half ago.

Also turning a worker works too.

For lower midcarders and 0 pop workers who dont get good angle grades, put them in a storyline with a commentator...this means all of their matches count as part of the storyline.

This is useful for "Streak" type of storylines....after getting them to Great or Fantastic(which is usually needed when you have like 30 50 rated matches >.>) use them on screen NR(or Menace if they have the stat or it) with a very over worker or entertainer or whatever is going to get you a good grade...the heat should raise tremendously...do this until the heat is around 70 or 80 then end the storyline and you should be around 90 to 100 momentum.

Put them into storylines as the "third party", eg. Have angles where a "supporter" gets some rub and have them be that. A soon as they are "good" success in the storyline, remove them. They will have high momentum then. Easy peasy.

I usually do that with interview segments (manager or authority).

My gamy noob tricks, and to amplify some of the recommendations above:

Make some custom angles with multiple Minor Successes and only 1 or 2 Minor Defeats. I have a few like "Gang Pranks" where a few guys gang up on somebody and give him a wedgie, or put Ben Gay in their jockstrap in their locker, or whatever. For max gaminess, make the target somebody whose momentum isn't very important - like a referee or rent some cheap Personalities to abuse. "Stupid referees, always catching my minor infractions and letting the other guy get away with bloody murder." "Yeah, referees suck, let's GET HIM!!"...

For max effect, put the guys you want to give momentum to in a new storyline so they start out "Neutral". Then give them more wins than losses - run the other guy in to interfere if the match wouldn't otherwise count for the storyline. Then run some of the "Minor Success" angles to give them some net successes. Then to get the storyline heat up, run some high rated promo angles where they are NR (unless they have something useful like Menace or Entertainment, then try 'em with that) in angles that are MC'd by your most over workers, or at least high Ent guys when you're starting out.

Then when they've accumulated a few successes to make them at least "Very Good" or "Great" (or higher if you can wait) in a decently rated storyline, end the storyline (or pull them out individually) to get a really nice boost in momentum. To be really abusive, put 'em in multiple other storylines as "Supporting", then you can pull them out of each storyline for a (slightly smaller but still very nice) momentum boost each time.

Keep track of losses and don't let the jobbers accumulate too many losses in a row - if nothing else I have them trade losses back and forth after they get a streak of 3 or 4 max. For max abuse, I use a handicap 2-1 or 3-1 match, and have the single guy eat a loss to break 2 or 3 other guy's losing streaks. The match rating will probably suck, so pre-game dark time is good for that, then include them in higher rated matches or angles later to get the storyline rating back up.

If their matches get awful ratings, try to keep their matches from counting towards the storyline, and run lots of high rated angles with them as participants. Post-match dark time is great for that..

If I stay on top of it now, I don't have to do the most abusive stuff anymore - but it's nice to know it's there in an emergency <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> In the pop-heavy companies I've been running the last few games, a lot of this stuff wouldn't even be THAT farfetched...

What I do to keep guys somewhat good in a story line is have their opponent sit on on the commentary and have them still win the match. Try to keep guys both at least fairly good so they don't bomb. Good feud matches can maintain momentum no matter win or lose.

Had a blowoff between Hulk/Andre that scored a 100 and both guys still had 95+ momentum. You have to take the storyline seriously, but don't have any particular "loser" unless you are dropping them down the card to newbies.

Also, The momentum they receive is based on heat of the storyline and length. So if you are running 1-month feuds, they won't gain much, no matter how good they're doing.
