Women´s Bantamweight Bout: Alexis Davis (15-5) vs. Sara McMann (7-0)

Round 1

Round one begins! A left hand misses, allowing Davis to counter with a flurry of quick punches. Moving in closer, McMann looks like she may want to wrestle Davis. McMann grabs Davis and pulls her into a grapple. McMann is trying to push Davis so that her back is up against the cage. McMann does it, Davis is stuck with her back to the cage. Davis waits for McMann to throw a knee strike, then uses wrestling to turn her around so that McMann now has her back to the cage. Davis tries to take McMann down. Davis tries hard but cannot get McMann off of her feet. McMann creates a little bit of space, and that's enough for her to circle away out of the grapple and back to the center. McMann is looking to turn this into a wrestling match, and is getting in closer to Davis. McMann grabs Davis and pulls her into a grapple. We move into the second half of this round. Using her wrestling skills, McMann is trying to push Davis up against the cage. McMann manages it, and controls Davis up against the cage. McMann stomps down on her opponent's foot. Davis uses her wrestling skills to prevent McMann from throwing any knee strikes. McMann tries to use some knees from the clinch, but Davis is able to block them. McMann tries to hit Davis with an elbow, but Davis takes the opportunity to switch it around so that she is in control and McMann is the one backed against the cage. Davis looks for a trip takedown. McMann doesn't even try to stop the takedown, she simply takes it and pulls guard. We're into the final minute of the round. Davis stands and gets out of guard, then backs off, wanting the fight standing. McMann comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Davis. Davis is pulled into a grapple. McMann is trying to muscle Davis up against the cage. McMann manages it, and controls Davis up against the cage. Smothered against the cage, Davis is stuck there, unable to do anything, until the round ends. Time expires and we come to the end of round one.

That was a close round, but I'm giving it to Davis, 10-9.

Round 2

There's the bell and round number two begins! Between rounds, her corner told Davis to take it to the ground as early as possible in this round. McMann avoids a flurry of punches and hits a left. Davis chooses to shoot in on McMann. The takedown is blocked, and the sprawl allows McMann to wrestle Davis down to the ground instead! Davis pulls half guard. McMann stands up out of half guard and backs off, wanting the fight to continue standing. Davis uses a right hook to the body, but misses. McMann steps in to put some pressure on. McMann looks to be trying to close the distance between them. Not wanting to grapple, Davis uses strikes to keep McMann at a distance. We move into the second half of this round. Davis throws out a couple of jabs as a set up, then shoots in for a takedown. McMann tries to strike first with a solid right hook, but isn't quick enough. Davis has the takedown! It's a single leg, and McMann has to pull guard. Davis is trying to pass guard. McMann is ready for the attempt though, and keeps Davis firmly in guard. Breathing very hard, Alexis Davis is looking ragged. McMann smothers Davis with close control, stopping her from posturing up. There's under a minute left in this round. Davis tries to pass the guard. McMann keeps her guard secure. McMann grabs Davis and draws her in close, smothering her. The time is up, and that's the end of round two.

That wasn't the most exciting round we've ever seen, hopefully things will pick up in the next one.

An extremely close round, could have gone either way, but personally I'll give it to McMann 10-9.

Round 3

We are back underway! After a flurry of punches miss, McMann is able to strike back with a stinging left jab. McMann comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Davis. Davis moves in too, and they start to grapple. Sara McMann is looking really tired. Using her wrestling skills, McMann is trying to push Davis up against the cage. She does so, and now has Davis pinned to the cage. Davis is pressed up against the cage and held there, taking the occasional short punch to the ribs and stomach, for roughly a minute. Alexis Davis looks very, very tired. McMann tries to use some elbows from the clinch, but Davis is able to stop them. Davis is trapped up against the cage and takes repeated small punches to the body from that position. This goes on for roughly a minute. From the looks of things, I don't think Sara McMann has much energy left. We pass the halfway mark of this round. The referee thinks there has been too little progress, and brings the two fighters back to the center. An exchange of strikes doesn't lead to any real damage. Not comfortable in the pocket, McMann steps back and creates some space. There's under a minute left in this round. Davis throws a couple of jabs, a set up for a tired-looking takedown attempt on McMann. McMann attempts to avoid Davis as she shoots in. McMann avoids the takedown attempt. Slowly moving in closer, a ragged-looking McMann wants to wrestle Davis. Davis moves in too, and they start to grapple. From the grapple, Davis tries to pick McMann up on her shoulder for a slam. McMann doesn't allow herself to be lifted, and she gets away from Davis. Time runs out and that's the end of the fight.

I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of McMann.

The ring announcer is now giving the official scores. All three judges give a score of 29-28.

So the winner, by unanimous decision, is Sara McMann!

Featherweight Bout: Hacran Dias (21-2-1) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri (32-7-2)

Kawajiri can't maintain his hold, and Dias wrestles his way into a wrestling clinch. Kawajiri has gotten underhooks in and is looking to take Dias to the ground. A sweep of the legs is successful, Dias has to pull guard. Kawajiri pounds away with right hands, but doesn't do much damage, if any, Dias is comfortable holding guard. Dias tries to ensnare Kawajiri in a triangle. Kawajiri shows great skill by twisting out of the triangle attempt and getting side control over Dias. We pass the halfway mark of this round. In side control, Kawajiri throws a couple of punches designed to keep Dias guessing. Dias tries to transition to a guard, but can't manage it.

UFC Fight Night: Liddell vs. Pokrajac - Play by Play

Heavyweight Bout: Todd Duffee (8-2) vs. Derrick Lewis (9-2-1 NC)

Round 1

The fight begins! There's a stalemate as both fighters throw strikes but neither hits. Duffee avoids a jab. Duffee uses a smart combination to get Lewis to cover up, then shoots in looking for a takedown. Lewis attempts to avoid Duffee as he shoots in. He gets a big takedown and he ends up in half guard. Duffee attempts to pass half guard. He passes guard with ease, moving straight into the mount. Duffee tries to set up Lewis for an americana. Lewis stops Duffee from applying it. Duffee counters an attempt by Lewis to move him from mount by taking his back! Duffee tries to hook Lewis in a rear naked choke. Lewis doesn't allow the rear naked choke to be applied. Lewis tries to move Duffee off his back but can't. We go past the halfway point of this round. Lewis is in huge trouble now, as Duffee successfully gets both hooks in. Duffee, with both hooks in, attempts to get a rear naked choke fully applied. The rear naked choke is in deep, Lewis has to tap out!

The winner, by submission; Todd Duffee!

Bantamweight Bout: Eddie Wineland (20-9-1) vs. T.J. Dillashaw (8-2)

Round 1

And here we go! A feinted high kick gets a reaction, and Dillashaw is lucky to avoid the follow-up inside leg kick. Dillashaw avoids a flurry of rights and lefts. A couple of quick punches are used to set up a takedown attempt from Dillashaw. The takedown is completed, it was a single leg and Wineland is left on his back pulling guard. Dillashaw looks to get past the guard. He passes to half guard. Dillashaw looks to pass half guard and get side control. Wineland comfortably blocks the attempt and keeps Dillashaw in half guard. Dillashaw blocks Wineland as he tries a transition to full guard. We are now at the halfway point of the round. In half guard, Dillashaw begins working to get side control. Wineland keeps his half guard secure. Using an underhook to set it up, Wineland looks to scramble for position. He may regret that choice, as it gives Dillashaw the perfect opportunity to get side control. There's under a minute left in this round. Dillashaw begins trying to get himself into mount. Dillashaw struggles but cannot mount Wineland. The time runs out on round one.

That round goes to Dillashaw, 10-9 on my card.

Round 2

We are back underway! A big right hand doesn't find its intended target, allowing Dillashaw to fire back with a nice jab. Wineland counters a right kick to the legs with a nice left hand.
