It's a perfectly functional, clean interface with a soft, neutral colour palette. Black and grey is "too dark", blue and yellow is "too bright and cartoony", now red and gold is "atrocious" and "shocking"? What do you people want? :p Clearly, pea green is indeed the way to go. Perhaps some nice beige boxes in there too?

I'm well aware of the phrase "you can't please all of the people all of the time", and of course you're perfectly entitled to your own opinions, but phrases like "the skin looks horrible" and "atrocious default skins are an inside joke" without even attempting to explain WHY you think that at all, are nothing short of insults to the artist who's worked his arse off for the past few months.

If someone posted a skin in the mod forum and people slated it because it was "horrible" "awful" and the colours were "shocking" (come on, seriously? It's red), they'd be accused of 'flaming' and other such things and it would be deemed unacceptable. I'd be inundated with moderation reports. Why should it be any different with the default skin?

I didn't want to wade in on this 'discussion', but it annoys me no end when every single time a game is released, the skin is slated on day one and absolutely no constructive criticism is ever given. I'm not saying you're 'not allowed to complain' (which I routinely get accused of implying), but there's a difference between "having an opinion", and "randomly insulting people's work with no justification at all". A difference between "this is awful!" and "I personally don't like this because X and Y aren't to my tastes". We never seem to get the latter.

And hell, even if it isn't to your tastes, that's why modding is a thing and always has been. The fact is, objectively it's a functional and well-designed skin which doesn't get in the way or overcrowd the UI. It is not objectively "bad" in any real sense. If it was, someone would have pointed it out and fixed it during testing. You just 'don't like it'. Which is fine, but not the artist's fault.

I'm sure in time skins will be produced which will be an improvement (I was a huge fan of the Grunge skin for TEW2010, for instance). I'm not saying it's perfect or that everyone has to like it (and I'm sure the artist wouldn't either), but terms like "atrocious" and "horrible" are completely unwarranted.

Right, I've said my piece, I'll shut up now. :p

<p>Well.. <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I gotta clean up my photoshop from all the dust it seems.. Expect several skinpacks to come right on the launch if I have the patience to do them.</p><p> </p><p>

But nevermind the hideous looking skins (kinda used to those quite frankly), I'm really, really excited for the game! I played countless hours of both versions, WreSpi I & II and the new features and modifications will surely make it into a better gaming experience than the last one did.</p>

<p>Screenshots were released for the first time and some people chimed in with their first impressions. Seems like the initial feedback gave thumbs down on the color scheme but nothing else. Those are valuable opinions if I'm in your position instead of denying the reality. There was nothing personal in this thread by anyone, but in your book we are supposed to have the compassion of Jesus Christ and Buddha combined and understand the hours you've slaved on the GUI and therefore either lie or ignore the shocking color scheme. No one here complained about the buttons or data displayed; in fact they look better than ever.</p><p> </p><p>

I liked the blue/grey for TEW and colors for WS2 and WMMA3 and therefore I wasn't expecting to be blasted with red and gold. Not sure what the consensus was the last time. Yellow worked for CBH because of the nature of the genre. The red and gold is distracting to me and is not understated. Most websites and games don't have that combination. It has a weird Missile Command stage from Atari 2600 vibe. I wouldn't call it neutral, unless that some sort of technical definition, i.e. it's not a hot pink and sky blue combination. I like basic websites and muted colors like Greydog's which I don't even realize, kinda like a referee or umpire in sports (i.e. someone that doesn't get my attention because he's not paid to.) </p><p> </p><p>

The difference between us saying the skin is shocking or horrible for the default skin vs a modder's skin is that we just don't think about that stuff. A modder is protected. </p><p> </p><p>

<em>The GUI looks great for WS3 and your efforts are appreciated.</em> Your first comments which laughed it off <em>really </em>came off cool. You really should have thought twice about posting the follow up. Comes off too sensitive, dude. Your dissertation about how you are frustrated and hurt, can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time, you should be immune from color criticism, and how we- the barbarians- should keep comments to ourselves about default skin didn't come off well.</p><p> </p><p>

I expect others to say how great it is now, so you should feel better soon.</p>

Just to clarify, I'm not responsible for the skin (or any other GDS games' skin). If I was, trust me, you'd have more than enough reason to complain. :D

Neither am I personally 'hurt' or 'offended' by the comments. I just think they're unnecessarily and disproportionately negative without providing any kind of justification or constructive criticism. As they *always* are, every year.

As I said before, constructive criticism is all well and good, but "this is terrible" is not constructive, or even criticism.

<p>I... I...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I like all the default skins ._.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

In other news seeing the screenshots makes me bounce a bit. It's nice seeing the interface - the match screen looks a little cleaner and less cluttered than I remember from Wrespi2, and the 'main screen' it laid out a lot better than the old one, where half the stuff was buried in really odd places.</p>

Plain and simple: it's the year 2013 and even though it's a text-based game, <strong>there's no excuse for a game to look that horrible</strong>. <p>Not to "divide the camp" even more, but I actually don't like the background in the TEW2005 screen that FINisher showed as an example. I much prefer the gradient effect or plain background, such as used in the screenshots for WS3.</p><p> </p><p>

That being said, I'm not too keen on the colour scheme used for WS3, but that is just a personal preference. There's nothing "wrong" with the screens, so to speak, everything is divided up nicely and the layout is easy on the eye. I'm just not into red's as background images - but that's my problem.</p>

You are an icon on these boards, so I assumed perhaps you participated in graphics based on how this got under your skin too much, even if you say the words "hurt" and "offended" apparently are not accurate descriptions of your rant. Anyway, I believe that people not liking a color is constructive and valid feedback (After all, as long as the text is readable and the UI is fine it's the last thing that game testers really care about), but I understand the argument.</p><p> </p><p> We are cult wrestling fans here. We booed Brutus Beefcake when he was crying about his para-sailing accident, mocked Shawn Michaels for losing his smile, and cheered when New Jack stabbed someone, so it's a tough crowd. <p>There does appear to be a screenshot bashing everytime a new game comes out, and a lot of it is never backed up. I know i did it before on a game (TEW10 i believe)</p><p> </p><p>

So..... My opinion on the new screens (for all that it matters)</p><p> </p><p>

Im fine with the colour scheme. WreSpi2's colours were fairly dark with the green/black (or red/black for League) combo so a bright red/orange is a nice change. Everything looks easier to access with Skills and Movesets being right in front of you instead of heading to the locker room, and Popularity/Match History no longer hidden in the career tab. I certainly don't miss trying to remember which tab held which part that I wanted.</p><p> </p><p>

What i do miss though is the buttons.</p><p> </p><p>

This is from WreSpi2:</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://www.greydogsoftware.com/images/wrespi2/screens/career.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

and this is a new screen:</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://www.greydogsoftware.com/images/wrespi3/screens/career.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

The 2nd game had these well made buttons that lit up the arrows when you hovered over them and they looked professionally made. In comparison, WreSpi 3's buttons look like you let a teenager go mad with a gradient tool.</p><p> </p><p>

Now I hate saying that as I know someone has spent time and effort making it, but the buttons looks worse than the 2006 versions. I thought originally that maybe they were trying to maintain a consistent look across games but no other game has a look like this.</p><p> </p><p>

I don't this will put my off getting the game, but I think im definitely going to be keeping my eye out for skins (if only to replace those buttons)</p>

I just don't like the very bright and, well, colorful look. No offense intended to anyone, but its just not to my taste and it strikes me as a bit too much. For what its worth, I loved the skins for Wrespi 1, 2 and TEW 2013. The only other skin I remember not liking was Comic Book Hero, which I believe (from off-hand memory) was a bit similar to this one

<p>Honestly, I think it looks nice, except for the grey shading in the background. It...just looks a bit odd with the bright orange, which looks pretty good. But I probably won't try and change it because I'd probably get used to it over time.</p><p> </p><p>

I especially like how it displays the name and photo in Career Mode. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
