Semi-Official "I'm complaining. Okay, I'm done complaining" Thread

Recommended Posts

Simple thread. What ticked you off, you wanted to vent?

Here's me: 30 minute match. Both guys in Danger health. Multiple false finishes. Some move streaks, some hold for hold. In the end, I went for my finish 4 times, then got ticked off, and DDT'd the guy 5 times (imagine just watching the frustration of that in the ring), then finally got the Trademark move, and pinned.

Rating: Could have been more competitive. Nothing memorable. ** (2 Stars).

WHAT THE HELL?????

Goes to pick that smaller man up, gets caught by a drop toe hold. 1 Fist drop and knee drop later, it's time for the Scorpion Deathlock! And the submission.

That happened to me sometimes too. Other times I have full momentum and he has empty, but he switches it up for 20 turns on end and I am unable to counter (and yes, I use the best counters for the situation, I know what I'm doing <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />)

Just part of the game.

My only real complaints are still the fact we get no results, no match and title history, no way to interact with people backstage and a weak RP feeling for the world. I still think this is easily the best Wrestling Spirit game, though, the storyline system and the match engine are both amazing <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I really wish I would stop getting the message that I'm feeling confident because the match is completely in my favor. As soon as that happens, my opponent stats to trash me. Have you ever seen that 3 Stooges short where Curly is a boxer who goes berserk when he hears "Pop Goes The Weasel"? That's what I wind up dealing with the second I get that message.

I'm liking having access to the calculate button to show how the mechanics of that particular move worked out, but it is still all too frequent for an oponent to pull out a >900 roll for countering or he manages a <200 roll to smash a series of high impact moves.

..Yes its a random roll, but has the AI been given loaded dice? Where were they manufactured? I want to supply dice for the AI next time!

Same as a number of people have posted, I too get into a sequence of moves ( generally low level shots to slowly build my momentum ), maybe bring in a medium move and then lose control of the match because my oponent wins a " pick up oponent " check. From his low momentum and my high he lands 3 or 4 medium to high level moves, taking 40% health off me before I regain control and then it repeats with me sticking to the low moves to switch the momentum around again... Because if I dont stick to the low momentum builders the oponent beats my roll and I cringe as the health meter drops.

A question here - is there anything to allow you to 'set up' a table other than for top rope moves? ...Or are table smashing moves only listed as a specific move itself? ( such as the move 'DDT through a table' ) ...I had a table match as part of my 5 match sequence and then realised I had no way of beating the oponent.

Pre match you can filter your moveset to see if it's valid for 'through a table'

but in the match itself there is a drop down on the lower right of the move description box, which has an option of where you're aiming the move. You can pick stuff like through a table there.

There are no low level guys in it so trying to play RtL you face nothing but the 300 or so created wrestlers. These guys often have 700, 800 or even 900 in some stats. It's like every created wrestler is a future star. I realize the AI wrestlers do not develop over time and need to start out with stats that will allow them to replace the stars of today at some point, but the end result is it's all but impossible to win matches as a starting wrestler.

I realize the AI wrestlers do not develop over time

You realise wrong. :p

AI wrestlers develop over time just like in TEW. They have a maturity age, up until which they'll develop their stats, and a decline age, after which their stats will start to drop off.

Are these guys you're mentioning low-level unknowns? Because unknowns/local talent with those kinds of stats probably shouldn't be happening...

When you select the move, before executing it, you see at the bottom right of the move details screen a little drop down box where you can select "onto chair" or "through table" if appropriate. E.g. if you throw a chair into the ring you should be able to DDT your opponent onto it by selecting the option. Ringside you should be able to spear someone through a table. Etc.

Okay, I'm done trying to get stars. I'm just doing 5 minute squashes. Every time I let the AI get a few shots is, so I can get some good stars, it goes on a tear, and I lose!

The star rating doesn't actually make any difference outside of getting a small XP bonus. It's certainly not worth bothering trying to work the match into a higher rating.

Except that to become a true legend you need 5-star matches.

I realised that after posting, but I suspect that in the efforts to get to all the other requirements you'd almost certainly end up with at least a large number of the 5-star matches required anyway. There are some very difficult requirements and it's going to take a long career to meet them all.

I've been playing RtL in the US and I fear the day I have to face a Canadian or, particularly, a Mexican wrestler - as they're at a much higher popularity level in their own country and (presumably) have the skills that go with that level.

My moan is that I got promoted to Local Talent within 3 months but then foolishly picked a storyline with 3 matches (Canada vs USA sounded kinda fun at the time). Inevitably I lost one of those matches (my first loss) and had to face the "beat three dude(ttes) or lose popularity" storyline. Which I beat. Only to have it come up the next month as well, and lost to Christine Charisma or whatever her name is nowadays. This makes the situation as tough as it was in WreSpi where you had to win 95% of your matches to make much headway. I'd prefer a game where winning matches was harder but making headway in the world wasn't as unforgiving.

Proceded to kill the random bottom feeders again but still haven't had a chance to rise in popularity again (is there a cooling off period)? So with 9 months gone I have lost a grand total of two matches and haven't increased in popularity at all.

From this I have learned to avoid three-match storylines like the plague if at all possible. Being punished for a single loss is too hard. Also, don't pfaff around with tag storylines in the Indys as the game with inevitably draft in people from north or south of the border and they're likely to be a fair bit better than the scrubs you're used to facing in your own country.

There! Done complaining now. At least in this version progress seems achievable thanks to storylines - in WreSpi2 I could never break into the Cult level because you never could gain enough popularity in all the regions of a country.

After toiling for over two years on the US indy scene and getting nowhere I moved to Canada. The competition is FAR less fierce. I'm on a 9 match winning streak and I'm in the middle of the "Gut Check" storyline. I might even rise in popularity and even get a job. 4C and All Canada are both small companies so there's hope.

Like you said, to let the AI getting some free shots is the easiest way to lose.

By example, yesterday I had a match that I totally dominated until my opponent kicked out at 2 after a finisher. (Because he had a defensive roll of 963 while my offensive roll, after all calculations, was of 935 due to the fact that my opponent had an empty momentum... Needless to say that I was pretty upset at this time. I took a screen caption of that but I can't post it). He litteraly turned the tide after that, squashing me for a long time but in the end I won by submission and have been rewarded with a 5* rating.

The first goal must be to win, even if it results as a shitty match.

For example a Mexican you face in US might be Local Talent in the US but an Indy Star or whatever in Mexico and have the skills to match.

Or not. I'm doing the old Internet trick of talking authoratively about something I know almost nothing about. Because that's what the Internet is there for. Along with porn.

I thought it might be a bug just based on the wording but wasn't really sure.
