<p>With regards to worker popularity, namely a guy like Bruno, please keep in mind that while he would have been very popular in the Northeast and in Canada, his popularity in the South would have been mediocre at best. Harley Race is probably one of the more popular wrestlers in North America due to the fact that he traveled through the country. He spent time in the AWA, NWA territories in St. Louis, Houston, Canada, Japan, Mid-Atlantic, Florida, etc.</p><p> </p><p>

Terry Funk should be pretty popular as well.</p>

Pretty much everyone's popularity is limited to the regions they worked primarily in with the other regions at maybe a F+ at best depending on whether I like them (so give them a little bit of a start in the game <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">) or whether or not they were so big in a territory that through word of mouth their name rather than them personally was known elsewhere. That, or there might be some fall-over in some promotions who have television deals elsewhere, Championship Wrestling from Florida for example which was shown in a couple of regions. Truthfully, the only people who have a better grade than that outside of the territories they work are the NWA Champions (before 1970 included) because they'd obviously have their name mentioned in other NWA promotions as they're considered the pinnacle. Take Dory Funk Jr. for example (who is the NWA World Heavyweight Champion in game start) he has a D+ in many other territories simply because he's the champion. As you say though, Bruno Sammartino certainly wouldn't be as popular as that because WWWF wasn't shown nationwide and although people talked about going to New York, specifics and in particular people weren't mentioned in other territories.</p><p> </p><p> Harley Race is somewhere in the middle at the start of the game because, as you say, he does a lot of travelling and he's also on the verge of becoming an NWA World Heavyweight Champion but he hasn't quite crossed that line yet.</p><p> </p><p> Terry Funk isn't that popular in the early 70's though, at least not outside of the Mid South and running into the South East. He's obviously on the precipice, but he didn't really become a star until his awesome feud with Jack Brisco a couple of years later unless there is something I've overlooked?</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, as I say, I think I've got a good grip on popularity but if you give it a look over and see anything worth noting, I'd be more than happy to talk it over and/or change it. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p>

Something you might want to take a look at are the names of the pictures. There are quite a few workers whose names are misspelled with indiscernible computer characters. I don't think it'll cause any crashes or anything, but you never know with TEW. Plus, it'll make it easier for people trying to locate their favorite workers.

All picture names are named <em>identically</em> to the workers (I know this because I copy and paste their names to make sure xD) and the only thing I can think of is the tildes, accent marks and umlauts like in Ángel Blanco, Adorable Rubí or Alberto Muñoz but I thought they were present characters on every computer so didn't think it would cause a problem. I'll take a look, if people would prefer the mod without the correct diacritic I'll happily get rid of them both in the mod and the picture file. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p>

Okay, here's another preview:

Links: Database and Pictures

I wasn't planning on doing another preview so soon but I thought as I'm updating the picture pack anyway, I might as well upload the database to allow people to take a look. If my memory serves me right, the last preview was right in the middle of EMLL's roster so yeah, that's done and so is GCW and GCCW and now I'm working on HW, which I'm looking forward to as I get to create Freddie Blassie. xD

As I'm not American, I didn't watch any of these promotions on television (and I'm not sure (m)any people here are old enough) but if there is anyone who knows of any television stations these places were shown on, I'd love to hear about them. Obviously, I can find some information on more than a couple of them but there is still a lot of black in the television department (I know there wouldn't have been much anyway, but I'm always finding references of shows on local television without suggesting which television station -.-) so - as I say - if you know of or can find programmes/listings, I'd be very grateful.

<p>First, may I give you a website which will help out a lot. it is called Kayfabe Memories:</p><p> </p><p>

<a href="http://www.kayfabememories.com/" rel="external nofollow">http://www.kayfabememories.com/</a></p><p> </p><p>

This will give you a history at a glance to guide you better if you are going to do a 70s mod.</p><p> </p><p>

Looking at the photos, they look great. Wondering what happened to guys like Tim Woods (aka Mr. Wrestling), Johnny "Rubberman" Walker (aka Mr. Wrestling II), Bob Armstrong (was not called The Bullet until late in his career) Big Bill Dromo. I may have missed them, so I will look again. Just looking at things locally, I am wondering where Southeastern Championship Wrestling and Continental Championship Wrestling are at? From a guy who saw this, the progression was as follows:</p><p> </p><p>

Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling>>Southeastern Championship Wrestling>>Continental Championship Wrestling>>Continental Wrestling Federation.</p><p> </p><p>

Some of the managers missed are:</p><p> </p><p>

Dr. Ken Ramey (manager of The Interns)</p><p> </p><p>

JC Dykes (who managed both the Mighty Yankees and The Infernos)</p><p> </p><p>

Rock Hunter (who managed Pak Song, Abdullah the Butcher, and Toru Tanaka in Georgia)</p><p> </p><p>

Some of the guys Nick Gulas had in his promotion are missing, such as Bearcat Brown, Len Rossi <a href="http://www.pwhf.org/halloffamers/bios/rossi.asp" rel="external nofollow">http://www.pwhf.org/halloffamers/bios/rossi.asp</a></p><p>

Tojo Yamamoto, Sterling Brewer (well known announcer in the Birmingham area). There will be other names mentioned in the website as well.</p><p> </p><p>

Plus arenas such as the Houston County Farm Center (Dothan, AL which Gulf Coast called home for years), The Municipal Auditorium (Columbus, Georgia), Fair Park Arena, (which housed Southeastern Championship Wrestling) and Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, Alabama.</p><p> </p><p>

I will give this a ride later through the week, but I hope this helps some.</p>

Firstly, thanks. Secondly, the mod isn't finished. Pretty much everyone you've mentioned will be implemented eventually, this is just a preview (read the first post for further explanation) and I'll probably open a topic for actual release. :)

Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling is there. As far as I'm aware, that's the name they used in this time period.

Huge thanks for the locations though, that's something I asked for help with earlier. I'll be sure to add them and credit you and if you think of any more (no matter how small or insignificant) I'll be happy to hear about them.

I'm looking forward to any other information you can give. :)

I have absolutely zero problem with adding a multitude of local television stations (as every promotion is regional or lower, that's all they'll need at the start of the game) I just need to know what they're. xD There is a lot of information on what happened in this time period in wrestling on the internet, but unfortunately not where/how they watched it.</p><p> </p><p> Although there is no way to properly implement the NWA World Championship travelling around like it did (even as far as Japan) I do have an idea in mind that people can use though that might simulate such, but there will be more on that upon release.</p><p> </p><p> Don't worry about that, absolutely no one will be on written contracts. As far as I see it, I want to take people back to this time period without necessarily ruining the "fun" aspect of TEW and lets face it, if I tried to implement half the stuff that went on back then the mod would be just hell to play. Hopefully I find the middle line where I can give a realistic account of things back then while keeping it fun and interesting.</p><p> </p><p> Thanks again, things are bound to come up between now and release and if it does, you can count on me asking for help in this topic. That's what it's for after all.</p>

The "over the top rope" rule is something that can be written up in a diary given that the results are for the most part ambiguous, and even allow you to modify it to put your spin on it.

As for TV stations, World Class' Saturday night show that was taped on Monday nights (first at the North Side Coliseum in Fort Worth, then moved to the Will Rogers Coliseum in the mid 1970s) aired on KTVT. It was at first a 90 minute broadcast, which I believe aired from 10:30 to midnight, then was expanded to two hours in November 1983. At the time of this mod, it was known as "Saturday Night Wrestling," then when it expanded to two hours, it was retitled "Championship Sports." So you wouldn't have to put in another TV show titled "Championship Sports" as that can be left up to the player.

Another idea is to put in ambiguous local networks like what I've seen in other mods, such as "Local TV- Tri State," "Local TV- Tri State II," and so on and so forth.

I've been reading up on Maple Leaf Wrestling lately and their program in the 1970's was called Ringside Wrestling and it aired at 1pm and 9pm (replay) on Saturday's on CHCH-TV

Thank you! That's exactly the kind of information I've been after; name, day, time and channel. Seriously, thanks.

The information I got for BTW (World Class) was from these:

It took me ages to figure out "Channel 11" was KTVT. xD As it's a year before the time the mod is set, I'm sure it could have changed to "Saturday Night Wrestling" so I'll change it now, thanks. :)

Great idea. Obviously I'll try to get as many real life channels as possible but for any of those that I can't find, I'll be sure to add those sort of things, thanks again.

In fairness, BTW (World Class) did have two shows: their Sportatorium (the Dallas Sportatorium) show (titled World Class Championship Wrestling), which in the 80s aired in syndication(not sure how it was handled before I was born, lol), and of course their aforementioned Saturday night show. In TEW terms, I believe their Saturday night show was their A show as most of the matches on that one were feature matches, with their Sportatorium shows featuring more squash matches. I should also mention that the Sportatorium show did air Sunday afternoons here in the DFW area on channel 39, KXTX. You could probably just set it for that channel for this mod, since just about all the territories were only seen in their home area in this time period.

</p><p> </p><p> Another idea is to put in ambiguous local networks like what I've seen in other mods, such as "Local TV- Tri State," "Local TV- Tri State II," and so on and so forth.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> In Birmingham, Al. wrestling was on Saturday nights at 10:00pm on WBMG 42 (which is now WIAT 42) a CBS station.</p><p> </p><p> In Columbus, GA. wrestling was on at 3pm on WRBL Channel 3</p><p> </p><p> In Dothan, AL. the TV wrestling was on WTVY Channel 4 in Dothan, which was a CBS local station.</p><p> </p><p> Hope this helps as well.</p>

Dothan had Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling, and Southeastern Championship Wrestling. Note on SECW, the TV was switched from studio wrestling in Dothan to recording the TV matches in Birmingham on Monday nights. This happened at or around 1980. Columbus used the same wrestlers from the Atlanta promotion.
