Eyewitness Wrestling Special Report: El Popcorn opens POW/WrestleX 'Hybrid' in Florida, attracts investors from Wondertainment Inc.!

The world of wrestling is welcoming a new promotion into the fold as of January 2014, it's name? Awesome Max Wrestling. It's goal? To bring the WrestleX/POW formula to the previously untapped South Eastern market with a healthy hybrid of POW's comedic stylings and WrestleX's pulse pounding lucha action, or to put it in owner, El Popcorn's, words: "Take Wrestling TO THE MAX!"

Popcorn, an indy standout in the South West region of America during the early 2000's is notable for being the trainer of Paragons of Wrestling's unofficial mascot, El Hot Dog. Popcorn removed himself from the public eye during late 2007, only to return at the last POW show of 2013, and it's safe to say now that Popcorn has every intention of staying in the business.

 

Popcorn's story is that during the POW New Years Party, he and Tiny Jackson were having a conversation with fellow guest at the event and old friend of Popcorn's, Wrestlesaurus X owner, El Mariachi. Popcorn laid out plans for a 'Masked Triangle' to encompass the major markets of the United States, with Mariachi in the West, Jackson in the North, and Popcorn in the South (presumably Jackson and Popcorn would share the East).

 

So far marketing for the fledgling promotion has been portraying it as an attraction the whole family can enjoy, with colorful characters, breathtaking actions and a 99.99% less likelihood of a 'Napalm and Barbed Wire Thumbtacks Match' taking place like with Florida's other local promotion, EXCW. This has come as a boon to the young company as it has attracted some very interesting sponsors/investors.

 

Yes it appears that the Wondertainment Corporation itself has put money into El Popcorn's endeavor, the longtime rivals of the Paige-Global Conglomerate in the realm of children's entertainment seem keen to become partners with the upstart promotion, going so far as to announce plans for a specially constructed arena in their Wonderworld Amusement Park in sunny Orlando. Until then the promotion will be working various venues across the South East in preparation for their final home's construction.

 

On a final note, Mr. Popcorn was pressed by one inquisitive reporter as to why he named his federation so closely to Los Angeles' Sports Entertainment promotion, The Awesome Wrestling Federation. El Popcorn reportedly shrugged, and said, quote: "Well a few years ago I got transported to an alternate universe then time traveled to 1997 where some guy -think he was a car salesman- sold me the rights to the name and likeness...that was a weird summer."
