USPW In 2019: The Genesis Begins

As I walked back through the curtain after my 3rd dark match in as many events, something inside me started to simmer. I couldn't believe the direction this company was going in. I mean yeah, I was a champion, but I got absolutely no respect from anyone around here.

I’m 43 years old now, admittedly too old to still be doing this, but after being in this business for 25 years, it sorta becomes everything to you. I guess the fans would consider me something of a legend, but that all depends on how old you are now. It’s the year 2019, I haven’t held a major world title since 2011, let alone headline any big events, it was no wonder my fan reactions were becoming less and less booming over the years.

Depressing to think about, right? Try living in my shoes. A worn down body of an old man, with an even more worn down psyche. Maybe it was time for me to call it quits, lace up my boots and go back home to the quiet mountains of Colorado. Spend some quality time with the wife and our son. Not as easy as it seems, though. Every time I have these thoughts, the love of that squared circle brings me back to reality. I CAN’T leave this business, I refuse.

“Hey man, everything okay?” I heard the familiar voice of a good friend, I looked up from the floor to see the only guy I could trust in this business standing in front of me.

“I just don’t know how much I have left in me. Everyone knows I’m a good 5 years past my prime, my body hurts more and more every day, and mentally, I think I’m starting to lose it.” I told my friend this in confidence, knowing that he wouldn’t run to the other boys and spread it like wildfire, which seems to be all the rave in this company.

“Look dude, how long have we been wrestling together, against one another, around each other? Bloody battles, intense rivalries, we’ve done it all, TOGETHER. But I’ll tell you one thing, you’re my friend, and my friend hasn’t been the same lately. All I can tell you is this, go back to the hotel, think this all over. Your career, your health, and most importantly, your family. Nothing is worse than losing your family, or your health. You’ve got enough money saved up to do whatever you want. Retire, take a vacation, just do what’s best for YOU”

I knew he was right, I knew every single word that was coming out of his mouth had to be true; but the stubborn boy inside of me wouldn’t let me admit it. I stood up, hugged my friend and thanked him for all his support.

I couldn’t quit, I couldn’t leave the thing that I love, the only thing I’ve known since I was 19 years old. It was just time to make a change….

Since then, Alicia has left the company, and their are no remnants of the Strong name left. Wow, this is getting pretty exciting. I began to feel that spark again. The feeling that I haven’t had in YEARS when it comes to professional wrestling. It took a lot of work, but I was finally able to buy out my contract and buy USPW, like a thief in the night. I knew they wouldn’t miss me up North, and most of all, I knew the fans wouldn’t miss me. The worst part was leaving my friend behind, but with how the fans love him, I knew he’d be okay, and, hopefully wouldn’t mind joining me in USPW when his contract was up. I sat at home for the past week, letting everything sink in. I had been reading the blogs, the articles, the message boards and everyone was up in arms about who the new owner of USPW was. Some thought it was a work, others thought Alicia Strong had finally taken back the company that was rightfully hers. Neither theory was correct, of course, but I did my best to keep things under wraps and to not spill the beans. Funny thing is, with all the hooplah and media craze going on, I almost forgot I actually had to run the day to day operations of a business. First thing first, set up a meeting with my new booking team…. It was the first Monday in January, the New Year as fresh as a newborn baby, and here I was, walking into the USPW corporate headquarters. Greeted by everyone I pass, they knew who the boss was, and they made a note to let me know I was recognized. At my age, I’ve been humbled in this business, so sucking up won’t do them any good. I got to a door that read, “**** ******* CEO”. One of the best in the business on the microphone, one of the most well recognized voices in wrestling due to her work with the SWF, she also had a hidden talent, she was a genius when it came to this sports entertainment thing. I was happy to have her on board. He’s not that great when it comes to the business side of things, but if you need a hot storyline, he’s your man. I can tell there’s some animosity coming from here, but I’ll do what I can to try and iron that out. She has a boatload of experience in this business, I was very lucky to have been able to keep her around in a wrestling, and backstage capacity. When she retires I fully expect her to be my #2 in command. </div> </div></blockquote> I sat down, adjusted myself, leaned back in my amazingly comfortable leather chair and began.. “So, first of all I’d like to thank you all for your support in my purchase of the company, especially you Belle, I know how hard this was for you” She simply smiled and nodded with approval. “If anything, I know I won’t be able to do any of this without your brilliant minds beside me. So, we have a show in 2 days time, what do ya got for me?” Belle chimed in first. “Well sir-” I cut her off. “Please Belle, call me ****” She smiled and continued. “Well, ****, we’ve taken the time to assemble a roster list for you, all neatly aligned from the champions at the time, to our least known superstars at the bottom, it should give you a pretty good run down of where you want to go with the direction of our shows” She slid the list over to me, and my eyes lit up with excitement as I looked at the talent that was at my disposal… ------- Full roster overview coming in the next post!

The good is, we have some amazing young talent waiting in the wings to finally come into the main event. The bad news is, the old guard is still holding the main event in a vice grip. Enygma is solid, but he’s already 43 years old, he can’t have much left in him at the top. The Force is 44, T-Rex is 43 and Tyson Baine is a whopping 47 years old! I know that I’m no young gun myself, but I have no plans to focus the show around myself. We need to get the youth movement going, but I don’t know how well my team is going to take it when I tell them the news. For now, I’d keep it under wraps. I looked up from the list, and we got to work. “Excellent list guys, really makes everything easy to see and work out. I have a few observations I’d like to share with you all. In my opinion, our main event needs a major shake up. I know Nicky is gone up north, Caufield is gone, Jumbo is gone, and the rest, but that doesn’t mean new stars can’t be made” As soon as I said this, I got looks from Jiffelski and Doom. I could tell they were a bit uneasy about what I just proposed, but hopefully they’ll come around. “Secondly, we have the best womens division in America, and I’d like to see it get better if possible. Belle, I’m putting this on you. Try and get Alicia back if you can” Everyone in the room knew that Belle was the main reason Alicia left the company, and I just stuck her with the impossible task of getting her back. She didn’t seem too pleased, but she gave me her word that she would improve the division even more. “Now, we have a TV show in two days, and one of our best and most regarded PPVs of the year coming up. It’s time to get some fresh storylines, shake things up, get creative. Here’s what I’m going to do though, I want you guys to book the first episode of American Wrestling under my reign, let me see what you can come up with, who can really…. GRASP the idea of thinking out of the box. I have some important business to tend to, I want you guys to really work tonight. After the usual pyros and theme music, we’re joined at the broadcast table by Danny Jiffelski and Emily McQueen. Bryden: “Ya know, when I was handed USPW by that old dinosaur, Sam Strong, I envisioned great things. I envisioned a company to take down every other wrestling promotion in the WORLD. I wanted to be a brand! I wanted everyone to know who Belle Bryden was! Not just in the ring, but as a ruthless, savage, hungry promoter who would stop at nothing to get to the top! But then, everything changed. That jealous, wretched little daughter of his abandoned ship because she couldn’t put on her big girl diapers and face facts! I WAS THE BEST WOMAN FOR THE JOB! Then, a certain “CHAMPION”, and I use that term lightly, decides to pack his bags and leave for greener pastures. When Mr. Sam Strong wasn’t here to change your itty witty diaper you ran like a scared little man! Because that’s exactly what you are! And that’s EXACTLY who this new owner is! I’m pretty sure you’re all curious as to who the new owner is!?!” The crowd cheers, desperately wanting to know the new person in charge of USPW. “Well so do I! (The crowd boos hearing this) Can you people believe the disrespect that has been shown toward me? A woman in office is never appreciated! And I was overthrown from my position by jealous, angry MEN that had an agenda against me. Well let me tell you this, Belle Bryden has a few tricks up her sleeve, hunny. The crowd goes crazy at the sight of their hero, who stands at the top of the entrance ramp, microphone in hand. Enygma: “Beeeeeeellllllllllllllleeeeeeeeee. You know I’m a man of few words, a man who likes to lurk in the shadows, usually staying out of business affairs in this company, but this one, this one affects ALL OF US. You can play the victim, the poor innocent woman who had everything snatched from her, but lets face facts, this has been coming a long time! You’ve been using your brass for far too long in this company to get what you want, but not even that could prevent ME from becoming a 3X USPW World Champion! (The crowd goes wild for this statement) But let me give you a word of advice. You see those two big boys behind you? Yeah, hey guys, I’m lookin at you. You may THINK you have those animals on a leash, but sooner or later, vicious dogs like that don’t stay chained up for long, and when they break free, you better believe you’re going to need to watch your back! So T-Rex, I’ll see you in the main event big guy, try not to let mommy distract you from your task at hand.” With that, the champs music stars back up and he turns and leaves, leaving Bryden and her Titans in the ring incensed. When we return from commercial break, we’re joined by Jiffelski and McQueen who give a brief rundown of what happened with Enygma and Bryden, before we’re quickly taken backstage to the locker room. The kind who doesn’t respect the business, doesn’t respect what this championship stands for, and he sure as hell doesn’t respect either of us. Look at you man, you’re freakin Hollywoood! You define the rich and famous lifestyle. Guys wanna be you, girls wanna be WITH you. And you’re gonna go out there tonight, and show everyone why when you mess with Hollywood Bret, you’re gonna be seeing Stars!” With that, Bret Starr stands up, adjusts his collar, slowly puts on his sunglasses and starts fist pumping like a wild man out of the locker room. Roger Cage is stunned for a moment, but gives his best, “what the hell” face and joins in right behind him. It was your classic back and forth affair, both guys who will obviously one day be the future of this company going at it. The end came as Bret Starr was setting up for the, ‘Hollywood Ending’ , but was caught with a quick low blow by Valentine that went unseen by the ref. Roger Cage got on the apron to argue, but this did more harm than good as Valentine took advantage, delivered another low blow to Starr and rolled him up for the quick 1-2-3 victory. This woman seemed familiar to USPW fans, but something was, different. Whew, show 1 is out of the way and I feel like I can finally get on a roll now.

For anyone wondering, what I did in this game was sim until the year 2019 (Was supposed to be 2020 but couldn't wait any longer after I saw USPWs awesome roster) Took it as an opportunity to make a fun diary with a twist.

If there's anything you guys don't like about the format, things you'd like me to add, change, remove, etc. Please don't hesitate to let me know your opinion.

I hope I have some readers in here, and hopefully the predictions start rolling around.

To answer your question I'm in January 2019, USPW is 3rd in the world at cult.. They were 4th but notbpw just dropped from national to cult, so this is my chance to make uspw somethin special

I like the idea of this starting in 2019. It's cool, it's almost like a different world. But man, is your main event roster old! Can't imagine why USPW never progressed past cult with that main event lol. Good luck!

I've decided to try and do something like this for after every show. It gives you guys a look at the best rated matches on the card, what segments and matches didn't score too well, or exceeded expectations. As well as letting you know some of the inner workings of who i'm signing, firing, backstage drama, etc. Also, as you can see at the end of the post, it can sometimes further the storyline Thanks for reading guys! <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37575" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Owners Post Show Thoughts The first show of the New Year, and my first show as owner was officially in the books. When I first got the script for this show, I had to make some drastic changes. I know I told my booking team to handle it, but I just don’t think they’re seeing my vision right now. Luckily, the show was a complete success, in my own eyes of course. We did just better than what our fans expected, which says a lot for the state we were in, and, I’ve started pushing some of the younger, more talented group. Although our current main event scene are getting pretty good crowd reactions, so I’m not sure where to go from here. Still, I was up for the job, and I knew, I was the man for the job. I made a few signings to our roster. I thought we looked a bit thin on the numbers count, so I reached out to some solid guys I knew would willingly fill our midcard gap and do it well. Some have PPA contracts, because obviously they won’t be appearing on every show, but the guys I think could be big assets to our company were all signed for 2 years contracts. I hope this significantly boosts our viewing audience and makes our numbers better. The first thing I noticed during the show was how much the fans were eating up EVERYTHING Belle Bryden said. From the first segment to the last, every time she was on screen with a mic in her hand, the crowd was HOT. She really knows how to work them over, I can’t wait to duke it out with her on screen. Casey Valentine and Bret Starr had the match of the week, which actually comes as no surprise to me. These 2 fairly young guys are primed to do big things in this company, if they can keep their attitudes in check. Casey is a Valentine after all. The women were a close second with a GREAT showing in an impromptu match that I hadn’t even decided on until the night of the show. These ladies are 4 of the best in the world and they went out and showed why. I hear Belle signed a new girl to the roster, shes sweet on charitys or something like that, I don’t know, I still want Alicia back. The main event was a good match, a mix of brawling and technique that you would expect from these two, and the subsequent beat down and rant by Belle went down smoothly of course. The fans didn’t seem to hate anything on the show, which is rare of USPW. If we can keep it in this direction, we should be good. For now, it was time to book for this weeks episode. That is, until my cell phone rang, and on the caller ID the name said… Christian Faith.</div></blockquote>
