Nice profile of Richards there BP!

Seconded. Not an easy task either given the smaller amount of canon and pseudo-canon the Thunderverse has compared to the C-Verse. Should be a good read even for those who haven't touched the data before.

Thanks gents. It was originally intended to be a simple website profile, basically taking the in-game profile and expanding a bit. Somehow, in the writing, it turned into a carer analysis editorial.

Richards is a guy that I didn't connect to much in my early experiences with the AWF. A veteran star who can be used to help others, pass on overness, etc. When I found the right characterization for him, he became more and is pretty much a favorite now. Quite similar to what happened with Christian Faith a long time ago.

As for the show, I could probably have it finished and up later today but don't want to rush. Especially given that its WrestleMania weekend. So likely at the start of next week.

AWF Shockwave

Wednesday Week 2 January 2014

Episode 314

Palace El Tropico, Lake Havasu, Arizona

Attendance 5,000

“So Much Money”

The intro video fades into sweeping shots of the unique Palace El Tropico. The rather intimate arena has the feel of a tropical beach resort, with sandy colors, palm trees, bright parasols, and low-hanging balconies. Home to the annual epic party that is the AWF Spring Break event, it has strong and vocal crowds. Tonight is no different and they are in full voice.

Thomas Aria & Chaperone

Thomas Aria
: Its not yet spring, but the Awesome Wrestling Federation has come to its spring home early. We are at the Palace El Tropico, Lake Havasu, Arizona. I'm Thomas Aria. And I'm with Chaperone.

Chaperone
: You need to stop introducing me, Tommy. A man needs to do certain things himself.

Thomas Aria
: I'll try to remember that.

Casey Skym

Director of Amazing Announcement

“Big Money, Big Money, Big Money”

ShockWave once again kicks off with an address from the AWF Director of Amazement, Casey Skym. The Zombie is at his slick podium. He gets a nice reaction from the fans, enjoying their adoration before quieting them down. He starts with a serious tone, stating that he needs to address something that has got fans around the wrestling world talking recently. Something significant to the future of the AWF... the recently-announced tag team tournament!

This gets a mixed reaction from the fans, some of whom are hyped for the tournament and some of whom seem annoyed that Skym is not addressing the invading talent from PW-SUX. The group that is once again in attendance tonight.

The Zombie sells the tag team tournament hard, saying that its something that will affect and define the future of the Awesome Wrestling federation. So vital and important is this tournament, so supportive is TrillCorp as a whole, that AWF Senior Executive Dax Deekins has committed a huge prize purse to the winning team.

A HUGE prize purse.

How huge?

Letting the it simmer, Skym finally answers his own question.

One million dollars.

The sum gets a solid reaction from the fans. The Director of Amazing looks satisfied. He states that the winning tandem will win the AWF World Tag Team championship belts and a prize purse of one million dollars. It will not only be the most important tag team tournament in professional wrestling history, but the most lucrative. Teams can be submitted for consideration up until the end of the month but the actual tournament will begin before that.

Seemingly finished and looking smug, Skym also adds that Silva Dolla's first challenger for his AWF World Heavyweight championship belt will be announced later in the show.

Thomas Aria
: One million dollars? That's a big sum of money!

Chaperone
: What a brilliant observation, Thomas. Once again, the invaders are not addressed.

Thomas Aria
: What Casey Skym isn't saying... says a lot...

Kiss versus Mo Fury

The AWF Television championship is not on the line in this one because, quite honestly, Fury doesn't give a damn about a low-level belt. This match is about two things – Helen Noir screeching at ringside and Fury thumping the every living hell out of his opponent. The former professional boxer has offense that consists mainly of attacks based on that background but they looked fantastic. Fury controls the action and Kiss doesn't get in a ton offense before he succumbs to a European Uppercut from Hell.

Mo Fury Wins at 5:11 via Pinfall

Johnny Hollywood, Alexis, Amy & Ricky Fyre

Awesome Games of Fate

Johnny Hollywood is on the right side of the stage after the break, in the same spot where Casey Skym's podium had been just moments before. Now it is the Games of Fate set. He flashes his thousand-watt smile, then gestures towards his lovely Starlet assistants, Alexis and Amy. The entrance music hits and Ricky Fyre comes out. The enthusiastic youngster plays to the crowd before he joins Hollywood and the two lovely starlets. Hollywood asks Fyre how he feels and the response is simply that he's ready. Wearing a trademark bright orange T-shirt, “The Orange Inferno” spins the Wheel of Fate with as much power as he can muster. It spins loudly, slowing gradually before landing on... TV title opportunity. Ricky gives an enthusiastic fist pump and goes to high five Johnny Hollywood, who simply shakes his head to indicate that its not happening.

They then move to the games area, where a game called Any Card is set up. A shelf holds two dozen oversized game cards, about 12 inches tall each. The backs of the cards show the AWF logo and images of the star wrestlers. Hollywood tells Fyre to pick a card.... any card... Alexis and Amy stand ready to grab the card of his choice. Making that choice to apparently difficult and some comedic as he points and then switches, making the two Starlets chase back and forth until they bump into each other and fall on their bums. Having seen enough, Johnny Hollywood simply walks over, takes one of the cards, and hands it to Fyre. With a shrug, Fyre turns it over and shows the fans what it reads on the other side... pillow fight.

The crowd approves. Fyre goes for a high five with the host of Games of Fate, who flashes a smile and totally doesn't go for the high five. Undeterred, Fyre high fives the two lovely ladies, who are still seated. He tears off his T-shirt, tossing it into the crowd as he hustles down to the ring. His opponent is introduced as the ring is readied.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/RickyFyreSmall_zps33efb977.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/VS_zps0ce5dc6f.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/MarshalLawSmall_zps0bea02fc.jpg

Ricky Fyre versus Marshall Law

By the time Marshall Law has made it down to the ring and readied himself for the match, the ring has been made equally ready. The shockingly-efficient (at least in this situation) AWF ring crew have filled the ring with a wide assortment of pillows. The ringside area is pillows as well. Every shape and size are in there, with the ropes draped with what appear to be bedsheets to keep the pillows in the ring. The match starts and the opponents each grab their pillows of choice, then attack. Fyre sticks with his color of choice, finding an oversized throw pillow in orange, while Law takes a police-blue body pillow. They attack each other furiously, but to little effect. No matter how hard they swing, they are just hitting with pillows. Law ends up trying to use the long pillow to choke his opponent, but its broken up by referee Joe Preston. Despite the pillows have little effect on the two competitors, when the ref gets clipped in the face with one of the pillows, he sells is hard like he just got smashed with a brick, dropping and disappearing into the mess of pillows on the mat. The “battle” continues, with Fyre using his quickness to gain the upper hand somewhat. Law slows a bit. When the ref is back on his feet, Fyre finally finds a solution – holding a pillow up against Law's head and firing away with punches and elbows. Its still technically using the pillow so its not illegal and it puts Law down for a three count, even though it can't be seen through the pillow piles.

Ricky Fyre Wins at 6:04 via Pinfall

Thomas Aria
: Did we just see.... a pillow fight...?

Chaperone
: Tommy Boy, I have no words.

Johnny Hollywood & Alexis & Amy

Johnny Hollywood Presents... The Hollywood Show

The Hollywood Show set on the left side of the stage, behind the DJ booth platform of DJ Dave that has been lowered so its below the sight line. The man himself, Johnny Hollywood, makes a grand entrance through the entrance tunnel, reliving his not-so-glorious past an active wrestler. As is customary, the entertaining heel host gets a very mixed reaction – plenty of heat as he is a heel, but also plenty of cheers as he is simply too entertaining to hate. His two hostesses make a show of taking his coat and handing him a microphone, and rather than sit behind the desk to do his monologue and introduction, he paces the front of the set.

Johnny points to the mass of AWF security personnel on the ramp, and then to do the grouping of SUX wrestlers who are massed in seats on the floor, a few rows in from the ramp. He says that its completely unacceptable that the actions of certain unwanted individuals requires this kind of security. It is obvious where the fault likes... with Dax Deekins, Casey Skym, and AWF management. Action needs to be taken. Hollywood says that the individuals from another promotion keep gaining access to AWF shows as they have tickets, and company policy is to allow in those with valid tickets to shows. But these individuals are not fans. So that policy should not apply. These individuals are quite the opposite of fans of the Awesome Wrestling Federation. In short, Johnny Hollywood is calling on the AWF management to take the kind of action that they should have taken weeks ago.

The atypically political statements from the talk show host gets a very solid reaction from the fans. He then introduces his guest tonight... a man who needs no introduction but gets one regardless... the incomparable Jean-Claude Giroux!

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/JeanClaude_alt1Small_zps98b7236d.jpg

Jean-Claude Giroux

The flashy Frenchman prioritizes making a proper entrance. “The Final Countdown” by Europe plays and he eventually emerges. He wears an obviously-expensive custom-tailored black suit that perfectly fits his 288-pound frame. Johnny Hollywood greets Giroux warmly and they exchange pleasantries. The host takes his seat behind the desk while his guest lounges on the sofa.

The conversation begins by talking about the tag team title tournament that Casey Skym announced. Does it interest Giroux now that there is a prize of one million dollars attached to it? Giroux laughs off the suggestion, saying that he has no need of a pittance like that. What motivates him is no longer money – he's wealthy beyond the dreams of most men. No, “The Parisian Playboy” is in the AWF simply for the goal of continuing to prove his greatness in the sport of wrestling. To prove that there is no one better. The loss to Drake Richards that week, that was a mere setback. The four-time AWF World Heavyweight champion will become a five-time champion soon enough. First, however, he has a lesson to teach to Vincent Parker.

When Hollywood brings up the ongoing invasion, Giroux scowls. Before he can speak his feelings on the wrestlers from SUX, there is a commotion at the foot of the ramp. Both Giroux and Hollywood stand, looking. It is indeed the SUX invaders, having jumped the barriers as they have already done many times, and they are jostling with the AWF security personnel whom they typically outwit.

It is a mere distraction.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Stable%20Small/Cross_SUXSmall_zpsd97b1309.jpg

Cross

While the rest of his SUX brethren hold the attention of the AWF security officers, Cross has managed to jump onto the stage. The leader of the SUX crew is wearing battered camouflage pants, combat boots, and a torn SUX T-shirt. He stands on the right side of the stage, looking out over the crowd, with mangy hair obscuring his face. There is a smirk evident, however. He turns and confidently strides across to the left side, where the Hollywood Show set is. Johnny Hollywood and his two Starlet hostesses bolt. Jean-Claude Giroux stands his ground, his fists clenched. He is ready to fight.

The crowd is watching as Cross steps up in front of Giroux. He doesn't tense or ready himself for battle as the Frenchman does. He stands in front of Giroux and they stare, eye to eye. Cross gets close. Uncomfortably close. Giroux tenses further, but he doesn't react. Yet. Cross examines the former world champion. Assessing him. And Giroux is found... sufficient. Cross steps back and nods. Then he moves away, back to opposite side of the stage and jumps down. The AWF security seem to have gotten control of the situation on the ramp, forcing the SUX wrestlers away.

Giroux still stands on the stage by himself, looking confounded.

Thomas Aria
: What... did... we... just... see...?

Chaperone
: I don't care if the scummy-looking guy is weird. I want to know why management isn't taking proper action?

Kitty Reardon, Nikita & Mountain Albert

Backstage Interview

Kitty Reardon is on the backstage interview set, joined by the ice cold Ukrainian beauty Nikita and her monster, Mountain Albert. The set is actually a balcony of the resort hotel that overlooks the Palace El Tropico arena. Kitty begins to try the old “be an interviewer” routine by actually asking a question, but she is quickly cut off. Nikita will do the talking. With a soft voice and a hard accent, the lovely but serious woman explains that the Awesome Nation seems to be forgetting about her client. How can you forget about a man who is big enough to be called Mountain?

The 6'7” monstrosity stands behind his manager, breathing heavily. Almost the point of panting. Its a bit disconcerting. Nikita continues on, ignoring the heavy breathing behind her. She states that everyone is so focused on the new champion Silva. Focused on these invaders. Everyone seems to have let slip from their minds the fact that Albert won the world title within two months of his debut. That he held it for seven months. But this monster will not ride off into the sunset. They still have ambitions. Tonight he will be in the main event with the new world champ. And Albert will show the Awesome Nation that he is still a monster to be feared.

With that, Nikita and Mountain Albert stomp off the set, leaving Kitty to close the interview with the only words she has managed.

Serenity versus Jazz

AWF Starlets Championship Match

This is a fairly typical Starlets match – more suggestive and teasing than focused on the actual wrestling. Herculez is a hulking presence at ringside but he doesn't have much directly to do with the outcome of the match. After a back-and-forth exchange between the two lovely female athletes that actually includes some wrestling, Herc hollers at the ref, creating enough of a distraction that the champion is able to take control with a nasty hair pull and scores the win a few moments later.

Jazz Wins at 4:55 via Pinfall

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/TheoBarkleySmall_zpsfdd2ca4e.jpg

Theo Barkley

Theo's Thoughts

A black and white video shows a lovely little park, presumably in Los Angeles. Theo Barkley is seated on the grass, sitting cross-legged in shorts and a T-shirt. He isn't paying any attention to the beauty around him, however. He is focused on a smart phone that is in his grasp. He stops and holds it up toward the camera. A device powerful enough to connect the entire world, able to access all the knowledge in the history of mankind with the touch of a finger. Used to judge the world in Chatters, watch lol-worthy videos, and look at cat pictures. Funny, funny cat pictures. A Theo Truth Bomb... these things are merely distractions. Distractions which keep the eyes of the masses off of real problems. Distractions that keep the masses wanting money, which is just used to buy material comforts, instead of desiring real freedom. Freedom of the mind and freedom of the soul. Money can't buy that. You can't find that in a Chatter or a funny video. Stop chasing the dollars. Chase your dreams. That's a Theo Truth Bomb.

With that, Barkley gets up and the camera watches him walk away, to a shiny new Bentley parked at the edge of the park. He climbs in and the video ends.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/TV/Banner/AWFDivider_zps3ea97e52.jpg

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/VincentIParkerSmall_zps7b6874d9.jpg

Vincent I. Parker

Beast Mode Vignette

The vignette fades into a small practice ball park, where young players chase around the outfield. There is the familiar crack of bat to ball. The camera pans around and shows the batter taking batting practice. Its Vincent I. Parker.

The man who dubbed himself “Beast Mode” begins to talk while he continues to take cuts. He says that in Arizona, its always ball season. He connects with another ball, sending it deep. Fans need to understand that being a world class athlete isn't a gimmick... its a reality. He is genuinely someone who could succeed at any sport he chose to. Another cracking connection reinforces this. But he chose this sport. Professional wrestling. The sport of kings. And he will conquer this sport. He will become the AWF World Heavyweight champion. But there are other things to get his attention first.

Parker turns to face the camera, ignoring the ball machine for the moment. He says that others things are real are the arrogance and the animosity. Some wrestlers genuinely feel they are better than everyone else, because of what they accomplished in a dead promotion and because they have some dollar bills in the bank. But those people need to stop living the in the past. Because the future is coming. And the future is gonna run them over.

With unimaginably perfect timing, Parker than turns as the ball machine lobs another one his way and he pivots and swings, smashing the ball over the fence.

Home run.

Thomas Aria
: A world class athlete indeed.

Chaperone
: Sure. But it ain't like he's the only one here in the AWF...

Garrett South versus Timothy Hawk

The fans in Arizona are hyped for a big match that could easily be the main event. The cantankerous grappler from Kentucky has been on a solid run for the latter part of 2013 and a win over the former world champion Hawk would represent a huge step up for him. “The Honey Badger” comes out first, escorted by Pantera. He wears simple black ring gear. The fans greet him loudly. But they absolutely explode for Timothy Hawk. The big home-grown superstar is one of the most popular workers in North America and the fans in the Awesome Wrestling Federation absolutely adore him, which they are quite verbal about.

The bell rings and the match gets underway. The two circle warily and engage gradually. There is not a huge size difference between the two – Hawk is only a touch taller but the three time world champion is much more defined and a bit more powerful. As the match begins to pick up steam, Hawk tries to use that power advantage to assert control but South is more than willing to use cheap tactics to even things out. “The Honey Badger” lives up to the moniker, as he gets in plenty of offense and looks plain mean in much of it. Hawk is renowned for the amount of punishment he can take, however, and he never stops battling. South loses momentum when he tries to go into his Southern Justice finisher but Hawk blocks the elevated flapjack attempt. A short time later, South tries for the latter portion of his finisher, a wrist-clutch into a short-arm lariat but Hawk refuses to be controlled and the lariat doesn't connect properly. Hawk begins to fire back, finding his offensive rhythm as the fans begin their familiar “Hawk! Hawk! Hawk!” chant. South tries to counter but the cerebral Hawk is ready and keeps up his attack. It leads to his Justice Slam emerald flowison finisher, which gets him the three count.

Timothy Hawk Wins at 9:10 via Pinfall

Thomas Aria
: What a battle!

Chaperone
: South continues to impress me.

Thomas Aria
: He impresses all of us.
Chaperone
: Yeah, but I don't care about your opinion, Aria.

Timothy Hawk

Post-Match Address

After the break, timothy Hawk is still in the ring. He is leaning over the ropes, joking with some fans in the ringside seats. He grins as he raises the microphone, a sure indicator that the typically playful and endearing version of Hawk is back after last week’s serious approach. He starts by saying he’s not supposed to be here right now, true story. He was supposed to do an interview earlier with Kitty Reardon but he skipped that. Because with all apologies to Miss Reardon, some things need to be said in front of the Awesome Nation. Hawk acknowledges that this might piss a few people off in AWF management. But then, there’s been a lovely trend lately of people doing what they want and no action being taken, so why not Hawk too?

The 3-time world champ stops and points to the empty seats that previously seated the SUX invaders. Someone has draped an SUX Army banner across them but they remain empty after the “attack” – or whatever that was – on Giroux earlier. Those people, those uninvited and unwanted, continue to act in a completely unacceptable manner. But there is no consequence and there is no repercussion. If Casey Skym, Dax Deekins, and AWF management will not take any action… well then, it’s up to us to do it ourselves.

Last week, Core committed to join the cause.

Core

The masked monster emerges and he gets a strong reaction from the Awesome Nation. A very strong reaction. Long used to their hatred, the big man basically ignores the reaction. He is his wrestling gear, ready for the main event.

Last week, another monster was pushed to join the cause.

Towerblock

The giant gets a stronger reaction than he did a week ago. He is still in street clothes and he looks determined. He climbs into the ring and stands beside two men, towering over both of his compatriots.

Hawk says that one man has suffered than any other at the hands of these undesirables. One man who should want them gone more than any other. A man who lost the biggest prize in professional wrestling because of this hooligans. Hawks finally names him... Drake Richards...

Drake Richards

The trio in the ring wait patiently. The crowd is anxious and they begin chanting, a simple ”Drake, Drake, Drake”. He eventually emerges, not looking too pleased. The six-time AWF World champion is ready for the main event and in his bright ring gear. There is no smile on his face. He climbs into the ring and stares at the three men who have been both partners and opponents over the years. The situation almost feels like a staredown.

Timothy Hawk finally speaks, saying that Richards has made a career of taking on the odds. He has often done so alone. That won’t work in this situation, however. The SUX invaders have the numbers and apparently can evade security like ghosts. The only way to fight back is through unity. Awesome unity. Notably, this is the first time anyone from the AWF outside of traitorous Enemies of the State have mentioned the SUX wrestlers by their home promotion rather than labeling them as invaders, unwanted, undesired, or something similar.

There is actually a bit of tension to the situation. Drake still looks unhappy. No one says anything. After a moment of silence, Hawk asks if Drake has an answer.

Still maintaining a hard stare, Drake Richards holds out his hand and he's handed the microphone by Hawk. Richards gets a roar that he has to quiet before he can speak. He says that he deserved a rematch for the AWF World title after the way he lost it, and he earned it with the win over Giroux last week. The Bad Boyd doesn't like having to rely on others... its not a comfortable feeling. But it seems like the SUX heathens are asking for a war. And in a war, sacrifices must be made. So yes, Mount Drake will join forces with Hawk, Core, and Towerblock, to rid the AWF of the vermin that have come to infest it.

The fans roar as the foursome join hands in the center of the ring in a hokey but yet cool moment of unity.

Core & Drake Richards versus Mountain Albert & Silva Dolla

Once again, the AWF manages to headline Shockwave with a main event that feels... big. Three former world champions and the current world champion in a tag match. Drake Richards and Core are already at ringside so they get what is technically jobber entrances. They stare at first Mountain Albert and then the world champion Silva Dolla. “Tha Dawg” gets a monster negative reaction and he does not hesitate to incite the fans further. There is a packed ringside area, with Hawk and Towerblock remaining there, along with Alberta’s manager Nikita, and a host of AWF security personnel. The bell rings with Albert and Core face each other down.

The two big men immediately start trading heavy shots, blasting away at each other with glorious fury. The 6'11” masked monster overpowers Albert, who is huge himself but just not quite as huge. Core uses that advantage well, as he always does. The crowd reacts with hatred when Silva Dolla tags in, and despite lacking the bulk of his partner, he puts Core on his heels with aggressive offense. Richards tags in to a massive roar and he takes it to Silva, but is slowed when Albert puts a boot into the former champion's back from the apron. That slows Richards down. Then the match dynamic changes when Albert chases Richards to the outside. The big man gets mixed up with Hawk and Towerblock, with Dolla coming over to get involved as well, followed by Nikita. No blows are thrown, but plenty of words are. The ref orders Hawk and Towerblock away from ringside, which is a correct call as they are not managers and do not have active AWF manager's licenses, while Nikita does. Neither Hawk nor the still-injured Towerblock want to listen, so the AWF security personnel have to force the duo from ringside.

When the match gets underway again, Dolla blindsides Richards. The champion takes control of the match, and they keep “The Bad Boy” isolated for a time. He takes a beating but Richards is tough. He keeps trying to battle. When he finally gets the hot tag to Core, the big man rages. He sends Silva sprawling, then downs Mountain Albert several times. He backs Albert into the corner and unleashes his trademark heavy chops, with the crowd chanting along in full voice. “Chop! Chop! Chop!” When Core leaves off, Albert takes two steps out of the corner and drops. The “Demon Machine” is focused on his big opponent, inflicting more damage. He fails to see Dolla getting back in the ring, so the world champion takes advantage by getting a blind tag from Albert then, going up to the top rope. Silva Dolla is hardly a high flyer but the 270-pound drops a knee on the back of Core's head with devastating effect. The masked monster is prone and Dolla wastes not time delivering his Dolla Sign finisher and then goes for the pin and Richards is too slow to break up the count.

Silva Dolla Wins at 13:55 via Pinfall

Core, Drake Richards, Nikita, Mountain Albert & Silva Dolla

As the team of Mountain Albert and Silva Dolla are announced as the victors, Nikita celebrates in the ring with Albert. Dolla is less interested, stomping over to the timekeepers table to demand his world title be handed over. On the other side of the ringside area, Core and Richards are having words and they don't look all that friendly.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/TimothyHawkSmall_zps5851b63b.jpghttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/TowerblockSmall_zpsac2c0503.jpg

Timothy Hawk & Towerblock

The crowd reacts as Hawk and Towerblock come out through the entryway and charge down toward ringside. They don't make it, as the AWF security personnel still block them. Nikita and Albert climb out of the ring, yelling at the two fan favorites. Then Core starts to ignore Richards and he wades into the fray that has not yet fully broken down yet.

And then it falls apart....

The SUX Army

The SUX invaders appear at the base of the stage, moving en mass onto the ramp. Things are suddenly much more tense... but it hasn't really broken down into violence. Its still shouting and shoving, with the mess of security personnel hapless trying to keep the violence from erupting. Notably Cross isn't with the invaders....

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Stable%20Small/Cross_SUXSmall_zpsd97b1309.jpg

Cross

Richards and Dolla are exchanging words on the other side of the ringside area, near the timekeeper and medical tables. The crowd reacts as Cross appears, coming through the crowd, jumping the barrier, and smashing Drake Richards from behind. Cross then picks up the beloved star and smashes his face into the medical table. Richards crumples to the floor. Cross then stares at Silva Dolla, who holds his weighty world title. There is tension between the two. Cross stares, but he doesn't get up close and personal like he did earlier to Giroux.

The crowd titters, as it seems as either of two may launch an attack. But before that can happen...

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/ThunderVerse/Workers/AWF/Small/CaseySkymSmall_zps8f3f4889.jpg

Casey Skym

Casey Skym strikes out onto the stage with a microphone, calling for calm. He demands that everyone cease and desist. This cannot happen! Its not clear if he's referring to the attack on Richards, the possible throwdown between Cross and Dolla, or the battle that is still brewing on the ramp. Skym says this is not the way things happen in the AWF. Not in his AWF! Skym orders the AWF security to take control of the situation and keep it from getting any more violent. He then orders medical personnel to attend to Richards, who is still slumped at the feet of Cross. Skym says that Richards is the number one contender for Silva Dolla's World title.

The show ends with Dolla and Cross staring down at the unmoving Richards at their feet.

Good show as usual sir. But I do have an issue. Lack of respect for tv title. Yes, it maybe a low level title. But its still a title, and they deserve better respect than that. If not then why have it at all. As soon as it is shown up by worker not wanting it, I feel it loses its luster. Just throwing my 2 cents out there.

<p>Another good show BP. I like the way you're handling the SUX factor in proceedings so far and I especially liked the ambiguity of Skym's intervention at the end as it raises several possibilities and questions as to his exact role and how he's deals with the likes of Hawk 'stepping up' when his treatment (and AWF management's in general) towards Cross & co has been so passive. The $1 million carrot dangled for the tag team tournament is a bit over the top, but this is the AWF, so that's why it works so well - it also means we could get some interesting pairings just gunning for the cash moreso than the belts.</p><p> </p><p>

Apart from that, the VIP vignette reminded me of the old Mr Pefect-style vigettes back in the WWF when he used to just smack home runs and score 3-pointers for fun. That's no bad thing. I also had the main event all wrong in my predictions, but what you did worked well. I think I overestimated how Richards and Core could actually find some way of functioning together.</p><p> </p><p>

Oh and as for the Fyre vs Law pillow fight. That's the sort of twisted genius that I admire in a booker and props for actuallying working out a legitimate finish for it. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Another strong show, BP. I'm interested to see where the Theo Truth Bomb gimmick goes - it's a very unique take on the character - and I thought the SUX developments (from both the Awesome Unity and final angles) worked very well. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I rather dislike it when a company makes a title seem unimportant, even when it’s not a main title. It was done very intentionally, which is why I actually made sure to mention the title wasn’t on the line in that way. Appreciate you picking up on it. For one, it shows an arrogance on the part of Mo Fury. And for another, having a title be disrespected and presented as “throwaway” creates an opportunity for a narrative. I actually considered having Mo win it and then refuse to take the title, essentially vacating and creating a lead-in to the intended direction but that felt a bit heavy-handed. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="sebsplex" data-cite="sebsplex" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37747" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Another good show BP. The whole SUX invasion was really a driving force behind me taking on the project in the first place and I am glad that the ideas are coming across. There is a lot uncertainty to what’s being shown on screen, and that leaves a lot of possible directions. </p><p> </p><p> I actually didn’t think of the Mr. Perfect vignettes from back in the day when coming up with that one for VIP, but yeah, not too dissimilar. I loved the Mr. Perfect character so I like the connection now that you’ve pointed it out. </p><p> </p><p> The main event had a lot of possibilities of really creating or driving some storylines but I didn’t want to go too far with things. Yet. These kind of main events will likely be common and the hope is that some of the dynamics created will make them relatively challenging to predict. </p><p> </p><p> As for the one million dollar prize, yes, over the top. And yes, intended as a mechanism to draw more teams in. But it also felt like it fit in with another idea, which is the prominence of money. One thing I always like to do with fictional companies and worlds is to think of the negative. How would the negative, smarky fans perceive the flaws of a given company? That’s not hard with the AWF. It’s a rich man’s vanity project, a heavy rip-off of the WWWE, built around former WWWE stars. It has evolved beyond that, I think, but that is where it came from and many wrestling fans who dislike the AWF would never move past that. I envision many fans being dismissive, claiming the only reason a lot of former WWWE guys are there is for the big paychecks. I see that as being a likely early criticism that would be heard a lot, and I figured “Run with it”. So money becomes a frequent on-screen motivation factor. That line of thought is actually partly what led to the creation of the Awesome Games of Fate, which I cannot take credit for. Don’t be surprised to see “fight purses” and bonuses come up as a frequent motivator for various matches, rather than just titles and shots at titles. Not as big as this one, but a fairly regular thing. </p><p> </p><p> The pillow fight was a fun idea and rather fun to write. At this point, the Games are very easy to come up with ideas for. And that pillow fight is not likely going to be the most absurd of them. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="jhd1" data-cite="jhd1" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37747" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Another strong show, BP. My first instinct with Theo was a more straightforward “arrogant athletic heel”, but I realized he would be overlapping a bit much into VIP and Dolla characterizations, which would likely mean he would be pushed down in prominence and end up being kinda forgotten. Not cool for a guy noted as a potential future star. So I found inspire in, ironically, Twitter. I think it has some legs and can in a couple possible directions. And glad the SUX stuff is working.</p>

I was wondering where this had got to! :D

Theo Barkley versus Wilson Hancock

Tough one, as both have had their vignettes in the first two weeks. I tend to find Barkley easier to put over in these types of matches for whatever reason, so I'll go for him here.

Awesome Games of Fate: Vincent I. Parker versus ???

VIP's got a lot of potential so it'd have to be a top name to beat him. I'm not sure the Games Of Fate is set up for those main event level matches though, so I'll go for a VIP victory.

Omri Stone versus Core

It'll be one-sided, but Core will probably still only win by DQ.

Timothy Hawk versus Mountain Albert

Another tough one. I expect PWSUX to get involved, so it could be either a DQ for Hawk or a tainted win for Mountain Albert. However, I'm not sure Albert will get off lightly either so on the basis I can't pick one over the other, I'm choosing both!

Loving this, BP. I'm always interested in invasion angles, too. It amazes me how many have been done on this board that are all way better than the WWF's one actual attempt. :)

He once again starts the show. He then addresses the talent from SUX who have chosen to target the AWF and Awesome Nation. He says that he will say this on a personal level rather than simply as an authority figure in the AWF. Skym states he understands the desire of a young wrestler to make their mark, to stand out, and take the step up. But this is not the way to do those things. This is the way to get your ostracized and blacklisted, to keep a major promotion from ever wanting to employ you. The first match is two upper card stalwarts who had both been pegged as future stars. The 36-year old Hancock gets a notable reaction, considerably helped by the lovely and popular Adrienne at his side. Things get underway and the match is a solid opener that goes back and forth. The action plays to the strengths of both men – the size and pure power of the 340-pound Barkley against the athletic brawling of Hancock. The turning point in the match is Hancock's beautiful manager Adrienne “accidentally” showing a great deal of cleavage to Barkley, who succumbs entirely to the ploy and stops to enjoy the view. That gives “The Big Bang” the advantage and he unleashes offense until he puts Prime Time down with a This One's For the Ladies lifting side slam finisher, then gets the pinfall. Its hardly the classiest of wins for the fan favorite, but he celebrates regardless. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He is sweating and straining. He stops and a smile cracks his face. Panning back reveals he is on a recline bench press and has just put the bar back down. The camera pans a bit to show a busy, professional gym full of beautiful people toning their beautiful muscles.</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

Hancock states that as a professional wrestler, he needs to stay in peak physical condition. That means working out every day, without fail. Like most wrestlers, he works on the road, but there is no place like home, and his favorite gym in Los Angeles is like no other. The Big Bang makes a sweeping gesture and the sweep of the camera again shows the modern, clean, and busy gym. Beyond having an unusually attractive group of people working out, it looks like thousands of other gyms and workout centers across America. Hancock says that this gym is open-minded, much like Los Angeles. Open minded in ways that the rest of this nation isn’t. And it’s something that he personally appreciates.</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

The wrestler turns to wipe down the angled bench and the camera reveals that he is naked. Completely naked. Pixelation blurs out his naughty bits. When he turns around to face the camera, the pixelation of his front-bits is impressively large. Hancock begins to stroll across the gym, explaining that California as a whole has always been open and liberated. It’s something that the rest of the country could learn from California. The pixelation moves as he does. As he walks, those around him clearly notice the bits that are not pixelated to them, and expressions range from horrified to enchanted. Adrienne can be seen in the background, in workout clothes and seated at a machine, but looking at a document and apparently hard at work, yet not working out.</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

The AWF management still refuses to take action. But some people refuse to be victimized. So Giroux is taking action. Innovate action. He is forming a protective association. Not something informal and unguided, like Timothy Hawk has pulled together. No, something with clear focus and brilliant leadership. The two lovely hostesses have also made an appearance. The guest/victim for this week is the popular Vincent I. Parker. The man who has dubbed himself “Beast Mode” gets a strong reception. He plays to the crowd for just a moment before he joins the host and two hostesses. Hollywood and Parker eye each other warily – there is some history between them, but there is friction due to Hollywood's close relationship with Jean-Claude Giroux, who is currently beefing with V.I.P. There is no small talk between them. A spin of the Wheel of Fate gets the crowd tittering. It lands on “Bonus Baby, Bonus - $10k”. This earns just a shrug from Parker. As a fairly big star for the AWF, he is well compensated and while ten thousand dollars is no small amount, he doesn't seem enticed by the possibility.</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

Next, the stipulation for the match. A board spins around to reveal the targets, each of which bears the AWF logo. Its a simple ball toss game, but its far from simple. The targets are not stationary, but moving on the board. The “magic board” has been seen before in the AWF and its a unique contraption. The cards move in a pattern that is constantly moving and shifting across a surface that almost look liquid. The movement speeds up and then slows, constantly shifting patterns. Most uniquely, the cards at the top of the board occasionally seem to move above the top of the board, yet no clear mechanism is visible for this. The cards seem to float above the top of the board for moments. </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

The theatrics do not impress “Beast Mode”. He doesn't look particularly impressed to be playing this game. He stands, jaw firm, and waits. He is handed a ball by Alexis. The baseball is in AWF blue, but it appears to be made of foam rather than an actual baseball. Checking the weight, Parker scowls. The hostesses make a show of ensuring that the contestant is the right distance from the board. Johnny Hollwyood then encourages Parker to throw. Giving the host the stinkeye, the athletic wrestler then rears back and fires the ball with impressive velocity. It smashes into one of the cards, and a spiderweb crack appears on the card. Its too perfect to be real. The cards stop moving and move into a normal block. Amy steps over, grasps the card, and with a flourish, flips it around for the world to see... Big THUNDER Fists!</em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

When the match gets underway after the break, both men are fitted with enormous foam fists over their actual appendages. Its comical looking and they makes even relatively basic moves impossible as they cover the hands. Punches lose most of their impact due to the foam. Herculez controls the match early as he smartly uses his massive bulk into the much smaller Parker. Although not actually managers, Harmony and Jazz cheer every time the 385-pounder smashes into “Beast Mode”. After a few minutes of this, Parker manages to get out of the ring. He looks frustrated. Being verbally berated by the two Starlets doesn't help. Vincent I. Parker is more than a great athlete – he is a smart one. Finding inspiration, he climbs back into the ring. He side-steps when Herculez rumbles at him, using forearm shots and kicks to batter the monster power lifter. Herculez charges again and Parker dives aside, then answers. This repeats, with the big man slowing but “Beast Mode” gaining momentum as the fans cheer him on. Herculez drops a knee after a couple big elbow shots, then wobbles back to his feet. Parker backs into the ropes hard and launches a fantastic-looking superman punch that, even softened by foam, drops Herculez. He quickly goes for the pin and gets it. Parker celebrates for a moment, then peals off the oversized fists and tosses them to fans. Herculez leaves still the ring still wearing his, being berated by Harmony as Jazz nods in agreement. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Reardon points out that each man would only get half of that if they win, so neither would be an actual millionaire. Yes, but they are a team, the “Love Punk” claims and that means that together, they would form a millionaire. Christiansen says that caring about money is so passé and he cares about more important things. Candell counters by saying he could sure use some of that cash right now. He muses on asking for an advance on the prize purse. Reardon attempts to ask another question but she is cut off by Christiansen complaining that he thought they weren’t going to use the NCB acronym because it sounds so… acronym-y. Johnny Hammer inserts himself directly in front of Kittie, proclaiming in a gravelly voice that Hammer of Mercy are here to show the modern wrestling fans what old school tag team greatness is all about. The Enemies of the State have been disliked since they joined the AWF but they are outright reviled when they walk out “Frontline” by Pillar. The revel in the hatred, strutting in their SUX gear. The fans roar for Core, coming out to his familiar theme of “The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears” by Machine Head. On paper, this is an easy match to call – Stone is a tag team specialist who has experienced almost no singles success of note in his entire career, where as Core is a former AWF world champion who has been one of the most intimidating wrestlers around. The possible shenanigans, whether from Stone's partner Stone or their SUX cohorts, is what makes the match interesting. The first few minutes are all Core, as he brutalizes Stone. He delights the fans when he slams his opponent into the corner and unleashes his trademark heavy chops, the fans chanting along with each chop. Things change when Revolver Binx gets involved, jumping onto the apron to smash Core in the back of the head, which slows the big enough for Stone to take control. Shortly after, Timothy Hawk and Towerblock make their own to ringside, the fans sounding their approval. They chase Binx, but before they can make him pay, the ref intervenes and orders them away from ringside. Once again, they lack the proper credentials to be at ringside. Stone once again uses the distraction to take control. Binx is allowed to stay at ringside. When Core takes control again, Binx has seen enough. He grabs a chair from underneath the ring, tossing it to his partner, who bashes Core with it. The fans boo as the ref intervenes and calls for the bell. Binx climbs into the ring and the Enemies of the State congratulate themselves, then ready to inflict more damage. But they foolish forget Core wears a mask and he is quickly back on his feet. They bail out of the ring, but their way up the ramp is blocked. They bolt over the rail and through the crowd to escape a beating. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Mountain Albert versus Timothy Hawk</strong></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The main event has a bit match feel, beyond what a TV main event typically would. There is an air of anticipation amongst the fans. The SUX crew have yet to be seen, adding to the tense expectations. Both wrestlers get fairly lengthy entrances, with Nikita doing the full “introduction” of her client, Mountain Albert. The former AWF world champion gets a strong reaction. But they fans blow their minds for Timothy Hawk. The Triple Crown winner and three time AWF world champion might be the most popular wrestler in America, a reality reflected by the fans in Tacoma. The match finally gets underway.</div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The action unfolds in a typical fashion for an AWF main event match that doesn't feature Giroux or Richards. Its mostly heavy-hitting brawling and relatively slow moving. The matches tend to be fairly far from technical masterclasses yet they offer plenty of entertainment and drama. This one is exactly that. Nikita tries her best to distract the ref at ringside and succeeds several times. The most important of these comes just as Hawk begins to take control of the match, using his athleticism and ring intelligence to inflict significant damage to his bigger opponent. When Nikita has the attentions of the ref, Albert delivers a low blow. Hawk kicks out of the subsequent pin attempt, and his allies appear, with Richards, Towerblock, and Core making their way down to ringside. She begs them for mercy, but they have no interest in hurting her – just ensuring she doesn't interfere further. Then Jean-Claude Giroux, now an associate with Albert and Nikita, is obligated to come out. Giroux is followed by a number of AWF security officials, who immediately begin trying to calm the agitation that Giroux adds. Things decent near to chaos. The two men in the ring aren't focused on each other at all and the ref is outside the ring entirely. Hawk steps out of the ring, trying to calm Towerblock, Core, and Richards. Albert is left in the ring by himself. No one involved in the confrontation notices one of the armed forces members at ringside, wearing camouflage combat gear including a hat pulled low, jumps the barrier and sides into the ring. The cap comes off and long hair is loosed to show that its not other than Cross. He slithers up behind Albert. The crowd roars at this but no one notices. The interloper pushes up the sleeves of his camo jacket to reveal some type of forearm guard, which he uses to smash the back of Albert's head. He then slides out and disappears through the crowd. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Moments after, the actual security team have managed to separate those at ringside, forcing all but Nikita up the ramp and away from the ringside area. The referee and Hawk return to the ring and see Albert laying prone, on his face. They are understandable confused. Hawk hesitates, but referee Shane Tedeschi pushes Hawk to do something. Still hesitating, the 3 time world champ delivers his Justice Slam finisher and pins Albert for the rather easy victory. Hawk doesn't celebrate and doesn't look happy. Nikita protests but the match is over. </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p><span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Another solid show BP. I'm looking forward to seeing where the invasion storyline goes next after Cross called Skym's bluff and crashed the main event. Meanwhile Games of Fate continues to amuse and I certainly wasn't expecting to see Hammer of Mercy either. Interesting choice for the tag team tournament!

The Cross and SUX Army stuff is fun to book. Absolutely love that aspect of the Tverse 2014 update. It has made the AWF even more fun to run... and it was pretty fun already. Hoping the story has enough legs to carry things for a while.</p>

  • 4 weeks later...

<p>Realized its been a full month now since actually posting anything for this. Not dead. Been workin on the next epsiode of ShockWave. Just been busy - selling my house, new girlfriend, and so on. Life happens. Will post the show preview this weekend. </p><p> </p><p>

Been giving some consideration to moving to a montly recap style beginning in February. Would focus more on the on-screen that past projects like WCW, which focused pretty tightly on the business side. Also working on more worker profiles like the Drake Richards one. Was intending to do a lot more with the ChatterBox stuff but the laptop with Photoshop that I was using for those is in storage (along with most of what I own lol). </p><p> </p><p>

Regardless of what I decide to do going forward wtih the formatting, I do intend to keep going with this.</p>
