A Foreward From Your Booker

This diary will display the happenings in my TEW 2013 game as booker of Canadian Golden Combat (using the 2013 data).

If you read this first post within the first hour and a half of posting, it was different. I was going to tell the story of my company, week to week, leading up to my current situation, but remembering what I did from the history logs was befuddling and tedious.

I'll instead get ya'll caught up to where I am today and we'll start from roughly there.

<div style="text-align:center;">CGC: What Happened</div>

Here's a quick rundown on the events leading up to the current CGC.

History of the CGC World Title

Early in the year, the DeColts feuded with long-time heel stable, Elite (Dan DaLay, Eddie Chandler, Shooter Sean Deeley, and Adrian Garcia). The DeColt boys came out on top at Elimination XI a in a 3v3 Elimination match and at Luck of the Draw with Alex defeating DaLay to keep his title and the other two brothers putting away Deeley and Chandler.

However, there was trouble in paradise as Jack took offense to Ricky's ruthless tactics in their match against Deeley and Chandler (that nearly got them DQ'd). The rift widened as Ricky defied his family, eventually leading to him turning on Jack in a match against Elite, which could have been worse had Alex not saved the day.

Ricky came out on top in a singles match against Jack on the first day of the DeColt WrestleFestival while Alex demolished the Elite stable, once-and-for-all, by defeating Eddie Chandler on Day 2 to retain his title once again.

Eddie Chandler worked his way into Ricky's mind, forming a sort of one-sided alliance to his benefit leading up to Chaos In the Cage. It was here that Alex narrowly escaped with the title in a 4-way against Ricky, Eddie, and Jack (who was there to even the odds, but had his own aspirations as well).

Then, in the first Legends' Cup tournament, culminating at In the Company of Legends, Ricky outlasted 15 other competitors to earn a title shot against his brother at Ultimate Showdown.

After much heartbreaking tension, Ricky cleanly takes the title at Ultimate Showdown, ending his brother's long reign.

After a two month feud with Valiant over the belt, where Ricky's honor came into question and he was required to prove he could defend his belt without cheating in a Falls Count Anywhere match, Trent Shaffer stood tall as the winner of the Last Man Standing.

History of the Canadian Title:

Christian Price started the year with the belt as Gargantuan, Thrill Seeker, and Nate Johnson vied for an opportunity to win it themselves. After winning a #1 Contender's match against his two rivals, Johnson failed to win the title in a Ladder match against Price at Luck of the Draw.

Price then faced Trent Shaffer in a two-month feud over the belt, with Shaffer eventually come out on top at Chaos in the Cage. After dispatching an eager Valiant, Shaffer himself dropped the title to Ozzie Golden, who went on to hold the title until losing it to Christian Price at Last Man Standing.

History of the World Tag Team Titles:

"The Soldiers of Fortune" Destiny and Fate started the year with the titles before losing them to F.U.N. Squad, the team of Groucho Bling and Whippy the Clown. The team held onto the titles, defending them 5 times, until finally losing to the pairing of Ozzie Golden and Shooter Sean Deeley, as managed by Adrian Garcia. However, the new "F.U.N. Concept" stable of Groucho, Whippy, and the shocking arrival of Elmo Benson fought back, resulting in High Concept (Groucho and Elmo) getting them back.

Once Elmo attempted to gift his half of the titles back to Whippy, Phil Vibert, resident heel authority figure, invoked a technicality that caused the titles to be vacated due to "an attempt at fixing a title match".

This led to an 8-team tournament. F.U.N. Squad was eliminated shockingly early due to miscommunication, leading to a disgruntled Whippy turning on his partner and abandoning his clown gimmick (he instead started wrestling under his real name, Nathan Priest).

A reunited Youth Energy (Thrill Seeker and Shane Nelson), renamed as "Pure Energy" eventually faced The Soldiers of Fortune in the finals with the Soldiers winning. After a short feud, Pure Energy took the titles back.

Davis Ditterich: Before a sold out crowd, we welcome you to Title Bout Wrestling!

Catherine Quine: No bout a doubt it, eh, Double D?

DD: Indeed, Cat. Last night at Last Man Standing, we saw Trent Shaffer prove himself worthy of a shot at Ricky DeColt's World title by outlasting 29 other competitors.

Cat: Sure, but, knowing Ricky's M.O., we can't be sure Trent will even make it to Apocalypse alive!

[A tribal call roars, followed by a rush of drums, as Trent Shaffer rappels from the ceiling in front of the big screen before walking his way to the ring, looking slightly disheveled from apparently just raiding a tomb or something. He takes a mic and thanks the crowd for their support before riffing on Ricky DeColt, the champion. Some highlights:]

Shaffer: Ladies and gentlemen, people of the world, I stand before you a contender. Against all odds, I went in against 29 others and came out as the Last Man Standing.

Now that I'm a marked man, I figure the chances of Mr. DeColt hiring a squad of goons to beat me into a pink mist are fairly high. That said, I hope Valiant beat some honor into him and that I walk into Apocalypse prepared for an honest competition.

[At that, Ricky DeColt's music hits. He stays at the top of the stage with a mic.]

DeColt: Hello, Trent. I see you're out here rambling again. Let me just say that respect is a two way street. I admit you're a threat to me, but the sort of threat you pose is like that of a mosquito or a rat, for example. You're the kind of threat that is best to eliminate quickly and indiscriminately, so as to avoid that one-in-a-million chance of embarrassment that comes with associating oneself with verminous filth for too long.

So, Trent, if you want to prove that I'm not best off just swatting you down, you're going to have to be at your best. That said, I have a proposition for you.

You want to make it from now to Apocalypse in one piece? All you have to do is agree to this: If you lose a match between now and then, you forfeit your title shot.

Shaffer: You're on. Usually I don't negotiate with idiots, but, unlike you, I know I'm good enough to hold that belt. Oh, and, about that mosquito thing? I've spent enough time in the jungle to know that nobody is afraid of one mosquito.

[Shaffer stops short and raises his mic above his head as the crowd cheers in unison.]

Shaffer: Strength in numbers, strength in friends, strength in family. You used to know that.

DD: We're joined here at ringside by current Cruiserweight champ, Davis Wayne Newton.

DWN: Oh, you know me better than that. You can just call me "The Better Davis".

Cat: For a split second, I thought you were going to not be an ass.

[The match gets underway. Johnson starts with an arm lock that Weasel acrobatically reverses into a slam. Meanwhile, DWN belittles both competitors in the ring and tries to change the subject from the action. The two exchange momentum in a fast paced match that ends with a Natural Order (Snapmare Driver) from Johnson into a pinfall on Weasel.

After the match, Newton stands up at the commentators' table and provides over-the-top false applause.]

Winner: Nate Johnson

[After a commercial break, the show comes back to The Opposition's entrance music as Nathan Priest, Sayeed Ali, and their leader, Eddie Chandler, approach and enter the ring.]

[The Anti-CGC faction spends a few minutes outlining perceived injustices levied against them by those with power and influence over the company, as they have during Title Bout Wrestling for weeks now.]

Chandler: We will not allow our glory to be taken from us! Canadian Golden Combat has failed us, it has failed you, and we will demolish it before it embarrasses this country any more!

[Chandler's comment seems to be the cue as it's immediately followed by Alex DeColt's music. The oldest brother walks quickly to the ring with his brother Jack in tow. The crowd cheers loudly as the two brothers face off against the three villains in the center of the ring.]

Alex: You keep coming out here, you keep running your mouths, you keep insulting my family, this company, and the great country of Canada, but I haven't seen you try to change anything. Are you just going to whine or what? Do you just like to have your own personal soapbox so you can come out here and cry every week?

Chandler: You think we're just crying? How about when we beat the both of you two weeks ago? How about when I threw you over the top rope last night? We're making good on our promise. We will destroy you. Every time you step up against us, we will put you down.

Alex: First of all, you, you, and you threw me over the top rope last night and you and you [gesturing to Priest and Ali] weren't even in the match anymore. [Jack raises his hand and makes pseudo-bashful faces, as he was the one to eliminate both Priest and Ali.] As for destroying us, I feel better than ever.

Chandler: You're not tired of losing? Alright, do you want to go 2 vs. 3 or have you dusted off another nobody partner from the back?

[The screech of a bald eagle and the metallic sound of a blade being drawn plays and the crowd goes wild as Valiant steps out from the back and joins the others in the ring. The two groups stand two to toe for a moment.]

Jack: I think we have ourselves a nobody.

Valiant: You want to call yourselves "The Opposition"? Well, call us the CGC Alliance.

[High Concept make short work of their opponents. Benson performs a Shockwave From Next Year (Solo Spanish Fly) on Triple I in the ring while Bling performs a Fade to Black (Scissored DDT) on Atheron at ringside. Benson then gets the pin.]

Winner: High Concept

[Just as the match ends, The Prospects - Randy Bumfhole and Shooter Sean Deeley - run to the ring, along with their manager, Adrian Garcia, and lay into Elmo Benson. As Bling enters the ring, he is met with kick from Garcia, delaying him long enough for Bumfhole and Deeley to switch their attention. After the beating, all three men quickly leave for the back.]

DD: High Concept already beat those guys fair and square last night! What going on?

Cat: Well, it seems like The Prospects aren't taking the loss quietly. This isn't over yet!

[Backstage, Jenny Playmate stands before Hustle Inc., the team of Rajah and Grandmaster Phunk. Phunk plays the part of a backstage interviewer.]

Phunk: So, Jenny, everybody has one thing on their mind tonight: Why did you leave those other guys to get with these guys?

Playmate: Because I deserved better. For everything I did on their behalf, they they never put any work in. You guys have hustle.

Phunk: Hustle is our middle name, baby!

Rajah: First name.

Phunk: Jenny! Last name: Playmate! Right? Is that a nickname thing? I mean, my real name isn't "Phunk"...

Rajah: No, man, like Hustle is our first name. We're Hustle Incorporated. We don't even have a middle name... like, collectively.

Phunk: The way I see it, there's you, Rajah. There's me, the Grandmaster. Then, between us, there's Miss Jenny Playmate. That's our middle name. "Miss Jenny Playmate, Chief Happenin' Officer of the hardest working company in CGC." Together, I'm the peanut butter, you're the jelly, and she's the bread holding us together. We're getting those tag belts! Pure Energy, watch yo backs!

Playmate: Nice save.

Phunk: You know it, baby.

Rajah: But... the bread goes on the outside!

[In a match with a fair bit of comedy, a distraction from Jenny Playmate and a low-blow from Rajah allows Phunk to set up a legitimately dangerous looking Phunkensteiner from the corner.]

Winner: Hustle Inc.

[Backstage again, Christian Price stands against a wall, looking at his phone, holding against his shoulder the Canadian title he freshly won from Ozzie Golden the night prior. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, Golden appears and blindsides Price, knocking him to the ground.

Golden grabs price by the hair and walks him down the hallway, delivering the odd clubbing blow to keep Price from fighting back.]

Cat: Where's Golden dragging the champion? This can't be good!

DD: Golden has been into some dark stuff lately. I can't imagine we're headed towards a bouncy castle.

[The onslaught continues as Golden opens a door to the back of the building and takes Price with him. Price regains some composure and starts fighting back as the two now stand on a loading dock above several dumpsters. Golden eventually DDT's Price into the diamond plate platform they stood on, knocking him out. Golden then retrieves a piece of newspaper and matches from a nearby hiding spot, ignites the paper, and tosses it into the dumpster. The entire bin erupts.]

DD: No, Ozzie, you can't do this. This is too crazy, even for you!

[Ozzie lifts Price to his feet and shoves him. Price tumbles into the flaming dumpster. Ozzie stands over his work as the show cuts to commercial.]

[After many minutes, both teams are tired. Jack and Chandler are the legal men. Jack nails a suplex, keeps a hold on Chandler and goes for #2, but Chandler catches a leg and lands a desperation DDT. Both men lay in the ring and crawl for tags. Simultaneously, Alex and Priest switch in. Alex comes in rumbling, landing several clotheslines. Priest manages to get off an eye gouge and a gut kick. He tries to get off an easy No Nonsense (Double Underhook Implant DDT), but Alex reverses and lifts Priest into a sort of inverted Vertebreaker position. Priest reverses from here with a sunset flip into a pin, but Alex kicks out at 1. The two stand face to face and Priest goes for a punch, but Alex ducks and lifts Priest onto his shoulders. DeColt Driver! (Samoan Driver) Pin! 1... 2... 3!

Knowing a post-match parting attack is inevitable, Alex quickly releases the pin and rolls from the ring. Chandler goes to follow him around the outside as Sayeed Ali, already on his way to Alex before the count was even finished walks into a Patriot Missle (Missile Dropkick) from Valiant in the middle of the ring! Valiant quickly rolls to the far side of the ring and backs up the ramp, along with the DeColts. The winning team looks towards the ring as Chandler stands between them and the two downed members of The Opposition. Both sides trade barbs as the show comes to a close.]

Winner: The Alliance

Extension News

Word is Joey Poison has agreed to extend his contract. This is good news for fans of the man with the crazy hair.

Interesting seeing all the different directions character have gone. Lots of new faces and gimmick changes. How long are you doing the TV matches, to fit 4 of them into an hour with all of those angles?

Once I realized I made a huge mistake signing so many new people to written contracts, I needed the extra time. My shortest matches are 6-8 minutes, decent midcard matches get 10-14, and the main event is 16+, usually under 20. Angles with unimportant people are 4-5 minutes and important ones are anywhere from 6-15.

Davis Ditterich: Welcome again to Title Bout Wrestling, coming to you straight from Victoria, British Columbia!

Catherine Quine: Tonight, we have a 6-man tag team main event. Ricky DeColt and The Prospects will be trying to bring down Trent Shaffer and High Concept.

DD: Remember, if Shaffer loses that match, he won't get his shot against Ricky at Apocalypse!

[The show starts with Ricky DeColt's music, an electronic remix of his brother Alex's theme. He takes to the ring with a mic.]

Ricky DeColt: Tonight will be a good night. Tonight, I save myself the trouble of having to show up at Apocalypse by putting little miss tomb raider away 3 weeks early!

Now, a lot of people seem to be wondering what "my problem" is. They don't seem to understand me. They think I'm afraid. They think I can't just "win like a real champion". A real champion is proactive and I am proactively stacking the deck in my favor. Shaffer didn't have to accept my condition, but he did. The contract is signed and tonight I show you how a real champion defends his title.

DD: Here we have singles action between a half each of Hustle Inc. and Pure Energy.

Cat: We'll see Hustle Inc. challenge for Pure Energy's titles at Apocalypse, so we can consider this a sort of preview.

[Both Grandmaster Phunk and Jenny Playmate stand at ringside in support of Rajah. Both Nelson and Rajah get in a fair amount of offense, but as the ref berates Rajah for using the ropes to get leverage on a hold, Playmate, Nelson's former manager, catches his attention with taunts. While distracted, Phunk runs onto the apron and catches Nelson in a top rope guillotine.

Rajah capitalizes on the stunned Nelson by delivering a VIP Pass (Sitout Jawbreaker) and pinning Nelson for the three-count.]

Winner: Rajah

[After a commercial, Ozzie Golden take to the ring in his typical, pseudo-vampiric manor before getting on the mic.]

[Golden delivers a dark promo about having eliminated "The Angel of Vengeance" Christian Price, who took his title and released his (kayfabe) little sister Haley from his control.]

Golden: Christian did not survive his trial by fire. May he rest in torment!

[After the initial stare-down, DWN arrogantly counters several of Johnson's moves before finally being caught in a deep armbar. Newton manages to get to a rope, but his arm is hurting. Johnson focuses on the limb, landing several arm drags, and catches Newton in a hammerlock. Newton takes control and transitions to a hammerlock of his own. Johnson breaks free and finds himself in position to land the Natural Order! Newton, however, acrobatically rolls through the move and lands on his feet, runs to the ropes, and returns to hit the kneeling Johnson with a shining wizard! 1... 2... 3! Newton puts Johnson away and comes up with the win.

After the match, Newton grabs hit belt, walks over the to commentary table, and puts on a headset.]

DWN: So, how was that?

Cat: You may be an ass, but no one can say you don't have talent.

DD: I would have assumed it was, but I know for a fact that Christian Price was recovering in a hospital bed, hundreds of miles a way, less than an hour ago!

[Not getting any time to celebrate, Jack is immediately ambushed by The Opposition post-match. The leave him down and out before posing in front of the crowd for a while. The show fades to commercial]

Cat: I don't think they're trying to prove a point with that attack. I think they just want to eliminate one of the biggest threats to their dominance!

[Back from commercial, just before the main event, High Concept enter first to address the crowd. Groucho Bling carries a can of spray paint.]

Elmo: Last week, Randy and Shooter to be poor sports about us beating them at Last Man Standing. Well, me and Groucho don't take kindly to poor sports. If they want to face us, they have a chance to do it fair-and-square in the ring tonight!

Speaking of poor sports, our partner tonight, the one and only Trent Shaffer, seems to be having trouble with with your champion and mine, Ricky DeColt.

Now, if Trent loses this match, he loses his chance to shut Ricky up for good and we can't have that on our hands. So, tonight, we've got your back!

[With that, Groucho initials the canvas with an enormous "HC" in hot-pink spray paint before the remaining entrances start.]

[After almost 20 minutes of a very good match, Trent Shaffer stands in the ring with Ricky DeColt. Ricky gets the upper hand and throws Trent to the ropes, only for Trent to come back with a headscissors takedown. Ricky rolls for the tag and Randy Bumfhole switches in. He runs to meet Trent at the center of the ring and drops him with a rising knee, followed by a standing moonsault and a pin attempt. 1... 2... Trent kicks out. Randy lifts Trent by the hair and throws him to the corner, following him closely and landing an immediate splash. Randy lifts Trent to a seated position on the turnbuckle, and follows to the middle rope, seeming to set up a superplex. Trent, however, recovers and jabs Randy in the midsection, causing him to tumble to the mat! He stands up in the corner and dives, landing the Tropic Thunder (Frog Splash). 1... 2... 3! Trent stands up from the pin in triumph as Ricky enters to meet him. They stand inches apart, trading words.]

DD: Trent with a decisive win!

Cat: It looks like Ricky's plan isn't coming to fruition tonight!
