In a match that had some good action and average heat, Kurt Angle defeated Ethan Carter III in 14:02 by submission with an Ankle Lock.

After the match Kurt keeps on hold on EC3, trying to teach the upstart some humility. Ethan screams and continues to tap as he begs for help. Spud and Celeste try to pull Angle off of him but the Olympic hero refuses to break the hold until Ethan passes out from the pain.

Thursday, 2nd week of December

The show kicks off as Kurt Angle talks about the events of last night and how despite winning the match for the World Heavyweight Championship he still somehow isn't the champion. He's joined by Samoa Joe who says that last night they threw everything they had at each other and still neither man could win, Joe says that his temper got the best of him and he just wanted to see Angle stay down for once. The pair face off as General Manager Hulk Hogan appears on the ramp and tells them that Kurt will get another chance at the title but a third man will be added into the match to perhaps break up the stalemate. Jeff Hardy and Bobby Roode will be placed in a match and the winner will also get a World Championship opportunity.
