Shark Lord Invades Japan!

Recommended Posts

In 2014, fortunes were looking good for World Level Wrestling despite previous years raids by the bigger cousins in the industry; the continued media response to the 'Modern Japan' movement and the success of both Emerald Angel and Magnum Kobe had made for a healthy combination of income and momentum. But times were still uncertain as the promotion now relied heavily on these two performers and if at any time either of them would become injured, or even worse, fancied by a bigger payday, WLW would slowly collapse like a flan in a cupboard. At least, that was the worst-case scenario. The solution was to simply hold out for a bit longer, until a new crop of stars emerged. But that was all too uncertain.

Or at least, that is what Koji Kojima had been led to believe.

At a small sushi bar in deep Tokyo, Kojima sat with a masked man, who had somehow duped him into conversation. The two had been quietly enjoying a taste of the national dish but the conversation had become evermore heated as this masked man clearly was interested in his business dealings as the WLW owner and promoter.

”Are you really an inter-dimensional traveler?”, asked the confused, and somewhat skeptical, wrestling entrepreneur.

”Kojima-sama, that I am indeed. I am Shark Lord, traveler through dimensions in ways and from places you could not comprehend. On a regular inter-dimensional time-passing, your existence would not have awoken my fancy but in this time-pocket what you do and what you have built has me intrigued. I wish to be a part of it”, the masked (or was it a mask?) being on the adjacent stool answered him.

”I don't know what to say, Sharaku Rord, I am very... honored, I think. But what is it that makes you think I would just pick someone off of the street?”, Kojima retorted as his masked meal-partner sat beside him, without a hint of emotion.

”I am Shark Lord, Kojima-sama. On Earth-aXdz6, you came crawling to me yet I denied as I knew it was not the correct version of this place I had arrived in. Here, on this Earth-aVIdz5, you pose me a question of what I can do for you and you expect me to work favors for you; I did not expect this, yet I feel it is right. Kojima-sama, I know no other way to answer this than I am Shark Lord; you need me.”

With a weird hypnotic gaze from his dinner partner, which was strange as the supposed mask had no visible eyes, Kojima felt compelled to agree with this... being. He was Shark Lord. He was superior. What a strange sensation it was. He shook his head slightly and then called the waiter at the counter.

”A sake for me and my friend”, he noted as he passed along the appropriate amount of yen. ”My friend, we shall see what we can do.”

And thus, Shark Lord Invaded Japan.

KOKI ISHIBASHI OUSTED AS BOOKER FOR WLW

- In shock news today, World Level Wrestling promoter Koji Kojima announced that there had been some management switch-ups leading into the new year. The unknown entity only denoted as 'Shark Lord' is taking over the head booking duties, vesting control from long-time booker Koki Ishibashi. ”In the year of 2014, some new ideas are needed”, Kojima commented about the abrupt change.

Ishibashi said that he knew of this beforehand, as the esteemed owner had mentioned 'change' and 'new ideas' at the yearly bonenkai get-together over a few bottles of sake, and is thus not as shocked as everyone else. ”I trust Kojima-san and his judgement. I will continue doing what is best for WLW through my in-ring work”, he said. The mysterious 'Shark Lord' could not be reached for a direct comment but it has been learned that he will having much the same schedule as his predecessor, both working the book and the working in-ring. What his skills and assets are though, is as of yet unknown.

WLW HOLD NEW YEAR PRESS CONFERENCE

Sunday, Week 1, January 2014

(Left to right: Koki Ishibashi, Koji Kojima and Shark Lord)

- World Level Wrestling representatives Koji Kojima, Koki Ishibashi and the newly appointed head booker Shark Lord, held a press conference in the Kyoto prefecture, near the Kyoto Arena, to celebrate the new year and to put some spotlight on the upcoming Fame & Fortune card that is being held in just a few days. Puroresu journalists and photographers were all ears, eyes and clicking fingers when Kojima announced Shark Lord's entry as he joined the owner and Ishibashi at the table to answer questions and talk about what the new year would hold for WLW. He said that with the blessing of Kojima-sama, Shark Lord had already contacted two new wrestlers to come in and ply their trade as freelancers in the next coming months; one a known face from the past and the other a solid player who had been looking for a break for quite some time.

After talking about the big main event, with Emerald Angel clashing with Mokuami Maita for the World Level Modern Japan championship, Koji Kojima also revealed plans that WLW was in talks with not only a few pay-per-view outlets but also television stations, in order to bring the promotion to a bigger crowd.

It was at this point that the lights suddenly went out and then they came back on, the Black House Nation had appeared at the door. They warned both Ishibashi and Kojima that 2014 was going to the final year of WLW in business but that they hoped the PPV outlets and TV stations jumped on track so the whole of Japan could see Maita, Kazuma Narato, the devious Rogue Matsuo SF and General Hayashi take down everyones favorite lucharesu promotion. While Shark Lord remained rather unphased about this whole ordeal, Kojima and Ishibashi had already kicked back the chairs, ready to fight. The Black House Nation remained eerily held back though, simply smiling as they backtracked away and forced an end to the press conference.

Really enjoying the start of this. Always have been a big fan of WLW and their style. It looks like your effort has already attracted the attention of the One Star Bandit as well.

Shark Lord Invades Japan, Issue #0.2

THE RETURN OF THE GREEN PANTHER

Tuesday, Week 2, January 2014

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z185/gerbatyx/Shark%20Lord%20Invades%20Japan/returnofthegreenpanther.jpg

- Utamuro Nishimuraya revealed today, through a blog entry on World Level Wrestling's own website, that he plans to bring back the masked Green Panther persona of the 90's, a mainstay and catalyst for many exciting midcard Junior matches in Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods. Nishimuraya was signed on a freelance contract to WLW late last night and he writes that he feels it appropriate that it is exactly in this promotion Green Panther makes a comeback. ”My career has been long and prosperous, with ups and downs, but I feel that now is the time for me to give back and for the Panther to roar once more”, Nishimuraya continued before thanking both Koki Ishibashi and Koji Kojima for giving him a chance to work with 'all these fine young Junior heavyweights' and also giving him a place to ply his trade once again.

In the blog post was also a few scattered links to some of the Panther's finer matches from his time in Japan's biggest promotion, which will be copied and pasted below;

- Green Panther vs. Awesome Thunder

- Green Panther vs. Tom Gilmore

- Green Panther and Shino Ko vs. Naoya Ashikaga and Tom Gilmore

- Utamuro Nishimuraya and Gesshin Nishihara vs. Naoya Ashikaga and Duane Stone

While Nishimuraya or the Green Panther never won any major championships in BHOTWG, the man and the mask has always had a cult following because of his reliability as a performer and the highly respected Panther Plex finisher; a move Nishimuraya himself innovated. According to word on the grapevine, the veteran was greeted with smiles and handshakes from younger fans on the WLW roster and hugs and reminiscing from the elder statesmen of the roster, Yosuke Narita especially, Utamuro seems to already be well at home in the small promotion.

Another new member of the roster was greeted welcome as well, as the ex-baseball player Yusuke Takahama inked a freelance contract as well. Takahama debuted at age 28 and has been a workhorse ever since; which is probably why Shark Lord got the blessing from Koji Kojima to bring him on board. Both men are expected to make a proper debut at WLW Fame & Fortune.

OOC NOTES: Thank you for reading this far. I think you are going to be quite surprised when Fame & Fortune rolls around but we'll settle that when we get there. Also, Voeltzwagon, thanks for the kind words! I am glad you are enjoying the massive entertainment mastodon of Shark Lord, I promise there are more hijinks to come. Hope you'll enjoy the ride!

Shark Lord Invades Japan, Issue #1.2

WLW FAME & FORTUNE

Wednesday, Week 2, January 2014

The first World Level Wrestling show of the year opened with a small fireworks intro as veteran announcer Iseu Deushi stood in the ring and welcomed the crowd to another exciting year for the small LuchaResu promotion. He welcomed his ringside partner, colour commentator Taka Kawajiri to the ring for a proper introduction and the sold out Kyoto Arena gave a round of a applause as the announcing team soon took their ringside seats, as the ring announcer called in for the first bout of the night. After the mysterious Shark Lord, supposedly a wrestler from another dimension, had made his entry the Kyoto Astro-Dreams theme song suddenly jumped through the speaker system and Yusuke Takahama, dressed in baseball jersey and carrying a bat and ball, ran down the aisle to much fanfare.

What proceded though, was not a pretty match as Shark Lord, in his numerous attempts to land a big attack, missed by miles on several occassions. Takahama though, showed his veteran chops and soon got the bout under the control. With a strong showing, and after a beautiful moonsault, Takahama banked the match when he got the pin following big Shining Wizard out of the corner. [11] The next bout on the card now seemed like a wrestling clinic. It was a much a rookie versus veteran as the previous bout as the speedy Snow Storm, the young Ninja, took on the veteran Green Panther, who received a standing ovation for his comeback match. Storm tried some fast offense from the get-go and his dropkicks especially seemed to phase the Panther but the veteran soon took control, brushing the youngling aside and delivering a series of fast kicks and forearms before landing a stunning top-rope plancha that took the Ninja down for a two-count. Storm once again tried to mount some offense and suddenly eyed an opportunity for his Avalanche Ice Pick finisher but Panther countered it with the Panther Plex! The three count was academic afterwards and the veteran had re-debuted with a victory. [33]

Following was a big screen showing of an in-depth interview with the much-loved veteran Yosuke Narita who had a bomb to drop on the audience – he said that the Yosuke Narita, former seven-time World Level Universal champion, would retire. Narita said that he was upbeat and that his plan was a retirement tour of the promotion, facing some of the best performers of WLW past, present and future. Starting from next months Power & Glory Narita revealed that Dark Eagle had agreed to face him the first match on the retirement tour and that was hoping for it to be the first of many great matches to come in the next six months. [55]

A somewhat odd match led the attention back to the ring as Insane Machine faced Shaolin Warrior. Or rather; Shaolin Warrior sat peacefully in the middle of the ring with Machine rather confused as to what to do. He tried getting the attention of the monk in orange, attemping a lock up but Warrior had nothing for him, simply sitting in a Lotus position and seemingly in a calm trance. Machine eventually had enough and floored his seated opponent with a lariat before landing the devastating Termination Kick for the quick pin. [38] Two fast-paced tag teams were to clash next as the team of Akio and Masa Kurata faced SPEED D and Hypnos, collectively known as VILLAINS. As expected, it was high flying action from the get-go and while Akio certainly awed the crowd with his spinning planchas and handstand ranas, it was SPEED D who stole the show when he, following a springboard front kick, landed a 360 splash on Kurata for the pin and victory for his team. [46] Americana, representing the gaijin stable of The 505, was to take on Panda Mask II in what at times looked like more of a debate and a cat-and-mouse game than a match. Americana, throughout the match, seemingly tried to sway Panda Mask II into joining The 505, convinced that the wrestler masquerading as an endangered bear was a gaijin himself despite having never seen him without the mask; his opponent starkly refused, though. Consistently lounging at the big panda head, Americana eventually left himself open for a kick to the gut, a quick DDT and a big crashing Pandamonium frog splash for the sudden three count, that had the crowds cheering and Americana reeling. [49]

Magnum Kobe appeared next, in an interview from the recent press conference, taunting his ever-present rival, Emerald Angel. The two have a long history and they have feuded with varying degrees of intensity for almost five years now. Kobe said that it was time Angel realized that he could not beat the red-haired youth; Magnum is currently the longest-reigning World Level Universal champion IN HISTORY and he has beat everyone that is to beat, including Emerald Angel. ”Just throw the towel in the ring, midori no masuku, you aren't going to ever win.” [68]

The second tag team bout of the night could have tag title contention ramifications as the team of Acid and UK Dragon, collectiely known as Acid Dragon and representing The 505, competed against Dark Eagle and his protegé Nichiren Amagawa, known as the Circle of Blood. As expected from former tag team champions, it was a hotly contested match, with the three high flyers delivering a thrilling fight, exchanging dropkicks, ranas, planchas and lariats until Amagawa ploughed through and brought it to the mat with his technical skills, locking up with UK Dragon. They jockeyed for position, duking it out in a display of fluent chain wrestling, before Dragon, realizing he was being out-wrestled, tagged out and Acid came in hot, dropkicking Nichiren to the outside as the count began. As Dragon and Eagle prevented each other from interfering, the count went to fourteen before both Amagawa and Acid got in, as the young lion reversed an irish whip attempt, flipped Acid over and jumped into a tag to Dark Eagle! Dark Eagle went work on Acid, stomping him to the ground and whipping him hard to the corner, before landing an avalanche kick to the face of the masked gaijin! It is time! EAGLE SHOCK! Eagle's ever-aware partner tackled Dragon to the ground as he tried to interfere and the referee counted the three count pin, giving the victory to the Circle of Blood. [50]

As the ring cleared, it became time for the main event as Emerald Angel made a grand entrance, much to the delight of the 2000 strong crowd. But as the theme song of the Black House Nation hit, Mokuami Maita did not come out alone. Flanked by Kazuma Narato, Rogue Matsuo SF and General Hayashi, they quickly surrounded the ring as Maita announced that in preparation for their match he had a few announcements to make; both to the Def-REALM and WLW. Maita repeated his sentiments from the press conference earlier in the week, 2014 was going to be the final year of business for WLW and revealed that they had finally found 'the solution to the WLW problem'. What this solution was was not revealed though, as the stable of invaders jumped to the ring and attacked Emerald Angel! But here comes to the cavalry! Hell Monkey and The Great Hisato come shooting the railway, and they quickly clear the ring. As Angel grabs a microphone, he shouts that the title match is off, tonight it is Hell Monkey, Hisato and himself against the Black House Nation! [47]

Maita, Matsuo and Narate take a quick glance at each other but then waste no time in storming the ring! A referee quickly comes to the scene but the chaos is too much and the six men are duking it out all over the arena! Angel gets Maita in the ring and gets ready to land Angel Grace but Maita avoids, and as they start grappling inside the confines of the ropes, referee Sonoda officially declares the match underway. A sneaky low blow sends Maita in the lead and the devious Black House Nation isolates the already weakened crowd favorite and start working over him, targeting his legs in hopes to prevent Angel from utilizing his aerial assault techniques. Suddenly though, he spins out of a headlock, plants Narato with a DDT and jumps to Hell Monkey to make the hot tag. The resident teammate of Emerald Angel clears house and punishes Kazuma Narato, sending him reeling from stiff forearm blows. Eventually, Monkey calls for Maita who mans up into an exchange of elbow shots but the leader of BHN regrets it soon as he is thrown to the ground before being on the receiving end of a brutal second-rope knee drop. But as Monkey drags Maita away from a desperate tag attempt, the low blow tactics are emploed again and in comes the hired gun, Rogue Matsuo SF, who takes Monkey to a favorable corner and starts working heel tactics on him; choking with the ropes and double-teaming the gaijin worker. The match breaks down as Hisato complains and soon all hell has broken loose on the outside as Hisato hits a senton bomb from the top rope to a helpless Narato on the outside of the ring! Sonoda can't control all these men but soon Emerald Angel finds himself the legal man against Matsuo SF! Tackle! Angel Spike! Top rope! Angel Grace!

1!

2!

3!

The Black House Nation has been beat! [64] But their ominous message still stands; hopefully, whatever this final solution is, it has pushed it back at least somewhat and given the Def-REALM and WLW more time to find out what will go down and what BHN's plans are.

WLW FAME & FORTUNE

Attendance: 2000 ~SUPER NO VACANCY FULL HOUSE

01. Yusuke Takahama def.
