There is a war brewing deep below the surface; one that will usher in a new era in professional wrestling. There are many who will defy its reach, many who will question its arrival, but very few who can run from its ever encompassing grasp. It’s said to be a point of evolution; a seismic shift that will be felt for decades to come. However, said shift won’t come without sacrifice. For, it’s the men and women, the hungry few, within the shadows that will carry this newfound revolution to the eyes and ears of the masses.

It will be upon
their
backs… in
their
broken bones… in
their
pools of blood… in every bead of sweat that rolls off
their
body… that will ignite this war into a raging inferno; unstoppable… uncontrollable.

There’s a war brewing…

… a war that cannot be stopped.

… a war that will change everything.

http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b579/RiseofDOA/Misc/TarverStory_zps9b55af7e.jpg

In the American entertainment industry, success can often stand as a double-edged sword. While notoriety is often an addictive mistress to these individuals, its mere existence begets the never-ending tragedy that is fame and fortune. Simply put, what goes up must come down; especially when the media carries the torch before the village monster.

Jensen Tarver found great notoriety at the ripe age of 28 years old. A former Arcadia network intern, the young Tarver made an astounding name for himself due to a mixture of hyperactive creativity and an inability to accept failure. As the years passed, he shed the amateur existence and quickly rose up the ranks; eventually becoming one of the hottest TV producers in the network’s history. During his tenure, Tarver created many cult classics: “LEGENDS”, “Zombie Wars”, and the often controversial “Chem-X”. That said, in recent years, the golden luster that once encompassed the famed “Wonder Kid” has started to tarnish. Several failed TV ventures began to beg the question… Has Jensen Taver… lost it? Has his day in the sun finally passed?

As one would expect, the success obsessed TV producer is not taking his critics in stride. In a recent interview with TV Journal, Tarver was quoted defying his budding rivals. When asked if he would step down from his position, he simply replied “No; there’s no reason to.” In reality, despite the plucky mentality, this may not be a decision that Jensen is allowed to make. There are rumors circulating, even moments before writing this article, that the slowly tarnishing producer may be on his last leg. Needless to say, Jensen Tarver may need to trap lightning in a bottle once again or run the risk of losing his job and possibly his awe-inspiring legacy as well.

So, what’s a man with nothing to lose to do?

That’s rather simple, at least to the “Wonder Kid”.

Jensen Tarver is looking to resurrect his career with the development of his own wrestling company. Yes, you read that correctly. The once famed TV producer is adding himself to the ringed circus that is professional wrestling.

Deadly Overloaded Action is the newly minted wrestling company that will potentially bring life back to Tarver & the Arcadia network as a whole. Based out of Chicago, Illinois, the hometown of the resurgent “Wonder Kid”, the underground promotion vows to usher in a state of “evolution” to an already saturated industry. While the details of such a claim are still somewhat vague, Tarver has made no mistake about bringing forth a new approach to an age-old form of entertainment.

Is it possible to ‘rock the boat’, so to speak, and still be successful; especially when the boat has been rather successful on its voyage thus far? That remains to be seen.

In hopes of securing the best chance of success, Jensen Tarver has employed the former headwriter of “LEGENDS” to spearhead the DOA project. Evan Vaughn is an award-winning TV writer and one of Tarver’s most trusted creative counterparts.

http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b579/RiseofDOA/Misc/14_zpscddaa851.jpg

A lifelong wrestling fan, EV has expressed interest in wrestling world before; however, eventually turned down an offer from the industry’s powerhouse in the Supreme Wrestling Federation. It was said, at that time, that he would be delegated to “just another writer”; something he was unwilling to accept. Despite this though, several members of the highly vocal internet wrestling community have already voiced their concerns about EV’s credibility as a “wrestling mind”; stating that he’s a “TV writer… not a booker.” Tarver better hope that’s not the case.

Ultimately, there’s a lot of pressure within the walls of the Arcadia as we speak. Internal tension is at an all-time high and, at this point, several prominent figures are said to be walking on thin ice. If Jensen Tarver hopes to resurrect his career, if not save his legacy outright, the “Wonder Kid” will need to make Deadly Overloaded Action an unstoppable force. Can he do so? Will Evan Vaughn create yet another hit for his beloved boss – OR – Will they all go down with the ship; bringing an end to Tarver’s tenure with Arcadia?

Let’s hope, months from now, that the company’s initials aren’t prophetic in hindsight…

I must say that it’s really hard to step away from writing here on the GDS boards. Even with an insanely busy schedule, this forum gives me the chance to express myself creatively & I have a hard time truly stepping away from that. With this in mind, I’ve decided to create a new project with the same mentality that I had going into my SWF project (“Where Men Become LEGENDS”). What I mean by this is, much like my SWF projects before the one that ‘clicked’, I’ve attempted to write a good DOA project and often feel like that never really panned out. I mean, there are some great things about the prior attempts that I had (the longest running 12 shows) but it didn’t really ‘hit’ the way I wanted it to. So, here we are at another DOA attempt (many years later).

I should note, before going too far, that I plan to take my time developing the first couple pages of this dynasty. In previous projects, I had everything ready to go straight from the onset. This, much like many other things, is much different this time around. When I get the time, I plan on adding in the roster, backlog, champions, etc. More or less, I’m guessing the first show won’t come for a week or two. I don’t want to feel like I have to jump in right away and ‘go crazy’. Unlike before, this is more of a hobby now so when I get the chance, and feel motivated to do so, I’ll get everything put together and ready to go.

There’s a big difference than before though. I used to treat these dynasties like another job. I’d spend a lot of my waking hours planning, thinking, projecting, booking, writing, etc. While that was fun when I had the time, I simply don’t have that kind of free time anymore. I’ll be lucky to have ¼ of that time going forward. So, this time around, one should expect a much slower pace (Possibly a show MAYBE two a month; that’s about it). I know this will make it harder to follow (as there will be considerable time between shows) but I’ll do everything that I can to make it easier to ‘refresh what’s happening’ when a new show comes up.

For those who have been along for the ride with previous DOA projects, this one is pretty different. It’s still owned by Jensen Tarver/Arcadia; however, that’s where a lot of the familiarity comes to a close. I mean, there’s still a focus on modern-based wrestling but that’s now at a ‘medium’ level versus ‘heavy’ or ‘key’. My reasoning for doing so is that I’ve found that booking niche products can be really trapping. With the new product focus (which I will show later in a post), I can have more of a widespread feel (only with a more athletic feel to the action versus USPW & SWF).

Also, I’m really proud of the initial roster in DOA; however, you should know that I’m more than willing to hire new wrestlers to come in and fill the ranks. More or less, I wish I had a few more ‘bigger names’ on the indy circuit; however, at least with the initial vibe that DOA projects, what I have is perfect. Then again, with a bank of only $500,000, don’t expect for me to go on a hiring spree or start outbidding companies like the “Big Three” unless I feel it’s imperative to do so. Also, with the roster in mind, DOA is only hiring people for a year at a pay-per-appearance setup. I did this to better simulate a company who’s coming in, not knowing what wrestlers they want to keep entirely, and not destroying the indy circuit in the process (by pulling them all onto written contracts). Now, if someone tries to pull someone away from me that I want to keep THEN they’ll be offered a written deal. I highly expect, sooner or later, to lock the roster down but wanted to know I was 100% set on those wrestlers before I gave them a concrete deal.

In the end, I know that this project may not have the ‘aura’ that an SWF project carries. I’m not booking board favorites like Angry Gilmore, Rich Money, Remo, etc., but I hope to create the same kind of experience as if these ‘D-list wrestlers’ are just as important. To me, the DOA is a place that is bubbling up from the underground. It’s all about being a place filled with people who have something to prove (as you’ll see early on). In a way, there’s an ECW-like vibe to DOA much like we saw in the 90’s. These are the guys (those who work for DOA) who have been passed over by other companies, released from big name promotions, and others who haven’t even had a chance to make a name for themselves on national television. With that in mind, there’s a real hunger to the company & the wrestlers as a whole. When you add in the backstory of Jensen Tarver/Evan Vaughn, DOA becomes a place dripping with desperation/dedication/obsession/etc.

Before I go, some quick 'Thank You's'... (in no particular order)

Iceisle:
My partner in crime! Iceisle has been a trusted & truly appreciated ally for me for quite some time now. He made my SWF project come to life and, thus far, he's done the same for DOA as well. On top of that, he's been helping me with the creative aspect as well through our many conversations. Awesome guy & with an amazing talent.

MJStark:
MJ is another amazing ally that I've been fortunate to work with over the years. He created my vision for the SWF championships in my previous project and has done the same with the new, re-imagined, version of DOA. Thank you SO much for all you've done for me. I'm excited to use your work in this project as well!

i effin rule:
He was nice enough to create a render for one of my created wrestlers: Xavier. Not only was he willing to do so, creating it rather quickly I might add, but it's truly remarkable. I can't wait to use it in DOA; thank you!

MichiganHero
Thank you for allowing me to pick your brain when it came to DOA-related stuff. You really helped me to zero in on some ideas and ultimately use our conversations as a 'focus group' of sorts. Again, thank you for this!

While the show may only have a runtime of 60 minutes, the broadcast brings forth a unique blend of hard-hitting, high flying action coupled with a level of deep, gritty entertainment. One does not become a champion out of luck. It takes severe dedication, if not obsession, and a number of broken bones to get to the top. This has never been so evident as the honored few to call themselves 'champion' in Deadly Overloaded Action. To get there, while an immense challenge, is only part of the problem. Once you get there, do you have the gall, heart, and physical prowess to STAY with the gold around your waist? Truly, there's no greater test in pro wrestling; no more chaotic pedestal to stand upon than being a DOA Champion.

* A HUGE thank you to MJStark for the custom DOA Championship belts!

Chicago Modern
is a fast-paced form of wrestling with a spine. The action is hard-hitting, non-stop, and physically demanding of those willing to take on such a challenge. Simply put, you don't climb into a DOA ring if you're weak; physically or mentally. Injuries, spilling blood, and the use of a stretcher to wheel competitors out of the ringside area is not uncommon in this world. That said, at least with the latter, you better hope that you can rise to your own feet and walk out. If not, the rabid Chicago fans may deem you as "soft".

The entertainment aspect is a complex scenario. While gimmicks are very much so used, there's a dose of 'reality' to everything that takes place. The 'monsters' in DOA are real people (not supernatural beings); just with a twisted tale on how they 'got here'. Meanwhile, the angles that take place, with this in mind, are often dripping with emotional content & indicative of a 'real-world' struggle. More or less, there won't be any T-shirt gun contests in Deadly Overloaded Action. Instead, you'll be given emotionally charged scenarios where everything is bound to be 'on the line'; health, success, worth to the industry/DOA.

This isn't your father's pro wrestling company, needless to say.

Deadly Overloaded Action is truly a haven for those with something to prove. Whether they've been thrown away by the 'big three', cast aside and never given a chance, or just starting out with a newcomer's sense of angst, these chosen few all possess an almost obsessive sense of hunger. While others compete under the 'bright lights', the wrestlers of DOA are spilling blood, breaking bones, and tossing sweat all for the love of this sport & their potential impact upon such. There aren't any million dollar contracts here. There's no 'fast-track-celebrity' scenario here in Deadly Overloaded Action. These men & women have come from far-and-wide to make a difference... to aide in the evolution of professional wrestling.

LOCATION:
Chicago, Illinois (Great Lakes)

BUILT:
1957

CAPACITY:
5,000

OWNED BY:
The Arcadia Network

PURCHASED:
November 2013

RENOVATED:
November 2013 to February 2014

When Deadly Overloaded Action officially went into development, Arcadia executive Jensen Tarver already knew exactly where the company would spread its roots. Chicago, Illinois is the childhood city of the young television executive and this, coupled with the infamous rowdy crowd that tends to reside there, made it impossible for the flagship program “Rapid Assault” to be filmed anywhere else. With this in mind, Tarver insisted that the Arcadia Network purchase an aging warehouse on the outskirts of lower downtown and, days later, the DOA logo was attached to the front door.

A lengthy and costly renovation would follow as the old warehouse was transformed into a unique arena with a 5,000 person capacity. To better serve such a large crowd, 3 large garage doors were installed on every corner except for the front. In turn, the ruckus crowd could enter and exit easily; cutting down on the potential for mass trampling.

The building is equip with state of the art technology in the form of replay TV’s, seat-level audio, and a large video tron that towers to the ceiling above the entrance way. While updating the DOA Arena’s technology though, the building keeps its rustic feel throughout utilizing original red brick, graffiti art, and crumbling corners. It’s the perfect combination of new and old.

While Tarver could have chosen a more ‘weather friendly’ location such as Los Angeles or Orlando, the famed “Wonder Kid” knew that only Chicago, Illinois would garner the kind of vibe needed for Deadly Overloaded Action. Ultimately, the cold weather, ruckus crowd, and general blue collar mentality is exactly what the company needed to establish its early brand.

There's no way one can overstate how important the 'numbers game' is in professional wrestling. While it's true that one man can overcome the odds against a collection of foes, in reality, this scenario doesn't come around very often. In most cases, it's who has the greatest collection of allies that typically comes out on top. Whether it's a faction or a well-oiled tag team, these combinations are bound to make a major impact in Deadly Overloaded Action.

Viva Italia

Antonio Del Veccio, Amore, and Marco Moretti

The members of Viva Italia have a strong sense of pride as it pertains to their Italian heritage. While said pride is wonderful, these three find a way to piss off just about everyone with their collective pompous attitude. Antonio Del Veccio is the obvious leader of the group; however, one cannot deny the manipulative attitude of Amore. You can call her a b*tch if you will; she's heard worse (and typically bloodies the person who says it anyways). Can this proud Italian trio make waves in Deadly Overloaded Action? That remains to be seen! First, they have to get along with each other; a feat in itself.

A sexually-charged vixen with the mouth of a sailor, Barbi made her mainstream America debut in 2009 as an off-beat tattoo artists to the stars in Arcadia’s hit reality TV show: “Grunge Ink”. </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

</span></div></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>A STAR IS BORN</em></span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

While she wasn’t originally expected to be the main star of the show, the infamous ‘hellcat’, as she was called by friends, took the majority of the focus with her unique mixture of raw sexuality, quirky persona, and her natural sarcastic outlook on life. Before anyone really knew it, Arcadia had a ‘star’ on their hands.</span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

Later, in 2011, Rebel Barbi left “Grunge Ink” after Arcadia specifically developed a show for the risqué vixen entitled “Rebel Burlesque”. </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

</span></div></div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b579/RiseofDOA/Misc/RebelBurlesque_zps0df9b0c0.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

</span></div></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>A STAR BURNS TOO BRIGHT</em></span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

The show followed Barbi before, during, and after the creation of her own burlesque club under the same name. While the show did decent in the ratings, Barbi’s public persona started to unravel slightly during this time due to a very publicized wild streak that never seemed to subside. Endless partying, copious amounts of booze, and strange men all made their way onto the show and, rather quickly, “Rebel Burlesque” became more about her spiraling personal life than the underground strip focus it once had. The show continued until it was cancelled in 2013 due to dwindling ratings. </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

One would expect a stint in rehab thereafter; however, no such scenario would come to pass. Instead, quite the opposite happened. While the TV cameras were no longer following Barbi for her late night escapades, that didn’t stop the young rebellious vixen from amping up her ‘wild ways’. In 2012, Rebel Barbi continued on with her risqué ways; posing for the controversial magazine SKIN. </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

</span></div></div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b579/RiseofDOA/Misc/SKIN_zps764fe9fc.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

</span></div></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>SEX SELLS... AGAIN...</em></span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

Naked from head-to-toe, baring her ‘gifts’ to the world, Rebel Barbi caught fire once again; being dubbed as the “Punk Pin-Up” in the process. While the shoot gained her further fame with those who already loved her, her critics continued to bury the rebellious vixen; claiming that she’s truly “spun out of control.” </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

In late 2013, Arcadia network reached out to Rebel Barbi once again and offered her a position within the newly developed wrestling promotion, Deadly Overloaded Action. It’s said that Jensen Tarver, the lead Arcadia executive in charge of DOA, and a self-proclaimed man with a ‘soft spot for Rebel’, personally called the controversial Barbi in which to bring her on-board. At this point, little is known as to how the company will use her in the future; however, it’s said that she will most likely start her career next to the former DaVE flier in Acid.</span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">
