Deadly Overloaded Action

Amazing! Love that backstory man!!! Looking forward to others. Particularly Xavier... But I also want to know what happened to Mainstream Hernandez, who I think plays Stitches! (love his picture)... I'm also curious about a couple of other characters, who I'm not sure who they are... Consider me intrigued...

Thank you, Lloyd!

When bringing in some of my own creations (ie: Rebel Barbi, Jensen Tarver, Evan Vaughn, Xavier, and Amore), I wanted to make sure that they could stand equally with well known cornellverse wrestlers/personalities. More or less, I didn't want them to stick out due to lack of 'player/reader knowledge'; so, I set out to tell their story outside of just what happens in show (giving you a background on how they 'got here'). I plan on finishing out the collection by giving an insight into Xavier and Amore in the next few weeks. This could happen before the next show, after it, I'm not really sure. I'm taking this project as a "get stuff out there when I have time and interest"; so, I'm not totally sure on timetables. That said, you can certainly expect those two to get the same treatment.

You're right in saying that Mainstream Hernandez is playing "Stitches." I don't plan on doing a background with that character though. Why? His character will be told during upcoming episodes of "Rapid Assault" (and not necessarily right away). While this version of DOA will have more wrestling than in previous versions, a more serious tone as well, I'm planning on employing a 'slow roll out' when it comes to characters (much like a TV show). What I mean is, instead of putting everyone out on the first show, people will slowly debut over the course of the first 6-8 episodes of "Rapid Assault." It feels more organic that way and it allows me to place focus on given characters when need be. That's one thing I learned from booking the SWF/SE product... You've got to tie a show together... beginning...middle... an end (sometimes giving more focus to one character over the other). DOA will follow in that same vein.

I'll admit that the first show won't be up for a bit. I have the first few completed; however, I want to make sure that the tone is right. DOA is ALL about tone. I can't mess up on that. Until then, you'll get some 'setting the stage' posts; all leading up to the first show.

They both rose to fame under the umbrella of one of the biggest wrestling companies in the world and, later, were cast-aside by the 'big brass'; dubbing them both expendable. Equally, within the ropes, they share the same connection as they're both strong-willed, intensely-focused, wrestlers with a knack for making an impression with limited time. Thankfully, these two won't know 'limited time' much longer as Deadly Overloaded Action is giving them the proper platform to truly make names for themselves.</span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> The bout is expected to be a back-and-forth affair and will, most likely, tear the house down before everything is through. [No commentary to open the show]

[The first-ever broadcast of DOA “Rapid Assault” doesn’t open with a flashy video sequence. There’s no fireworks display. There isn’t even a traditional commentary lead-in. Instead, from the very start of the LIVE feed on Arcadia we bare witness to a heated brawl already in progress. Here we see the eerie tattooed maniac in Acid exchanging violent strikes with a man oozing in confidence in Matthew Keith. While such a sight would be normal in a wrestling ring, this show-opening brawl appears to be taking place over the steel guardrail protecting the ringside area & deep within the ruckus, and obviously inebriated, crowd.]

[Neither man really gains a true upper hand despite such heavy blows. That is until the rebellious vixen Rebel Barbi decides to intervene. Diving on Keith’s back, her arm in a choke across his neck as she cradles her legs around his waist, Barbi screams out in a psychotic fashion as she does everything in her power to stop Keith. Eventually, Matthew breaks free by tossing her to the ground, doing so in a way that actually inflicts the least amount of pain possible, but, by doing so, opens himself up to a clean-shot square from Acid’s knee. The masked flier formerly of DaVE lands a flying knee to the face on his opponent; using a nearby chair, and a few fans even, to catapult himself into the air.]

[With time, the action would spill back into the ringside area as Acid tosses Keith over the guardrail and into the ring. The bell would finally ring, Matthew White calling for such, as Acid creepily stands over the staggered Keith. Meanwhile, Rebel Barbi twists her face in a manner that can only be described as a snarling smirk; doing so from outside of the ring.]

Samuel Curran:
THIS is how you start a wrestling show! Ladies and gentlemen, WELCOME to the FIRST EVER BROADCAST… Of DOA… “Rapid… Assault”… and WHAT a way to start the show!

Alex Braun:
That’s right, Sam. We got past all the crap… all the ‘Hollywood bull’ and got STRAIGHT to the action with Matthew Keith & Acid ripping into one another. We can talk about WHY they’re fighting later. Right now, the only thing I care about is that we’re getting a Grade-A fight RIGHT before our eyes!

Samuel Curran:
These two are set for our first match of the night; however, as you can see, it couldn’t wait for the ring. These two have been going at this for a good 15-minutes now. It actually started all the way back in the locker room area… came out here… traveled into the crowd… and now we’re here… The first match in DOA history!

Alex Braun:
Matthew Keith better hope he’s got a 2nd wind in him… maybe even a 3rd. I know Acid pretty well; he’s a crazy little man. Seriously! With Rebel Barbi’s help here, Matthew’s already on his heels and this one’s JUST starting. That’s NOT where you want to be… not against someone like Acid!

AT RINGSIDE:
Rebel Barbi w/ Acid

  • By the time the bell has rung, Acid is already firmly in control due to Rebel Barbi’s involvement during the ringside brawl.

  • Keith tries to rebound; however, his attempt is quickly thwarted by a jaw-shattering Superkick off the ropes. This only generates a 2-count though.

  • Eventually, Matthew Keith does rebound and, in doing so, puts Acid on his back with an array of classic wrestling strikes & a combination of technical maneuvers.

  • Throughout it all, Rebel Barbi is focused upon by the ringside camera as she causes “a scene” outside of the ring.

  • As time goes on, Rebel Barbi can’t will her client to come away with the win. While Acid looks good throughout, establishing his ‘risky aerial brand’ we once saw in DaVE, it’s Matthew Keith who eventually powers his way into the win with his signature “MK-47” (Omega Driver).

  • Barbi can be seen screaming out in anger as the final count is made. It’s impossible for her to hide her building anger. Meanwhile, Matthew Keith rolls over onto his back; kicking himself back up to his feet and smirking before the cheering crowd.

Samuel Curran:
The first match is in the book folks and it’s in favor of the young Matthew Keith. BIG win for the up-and-coming wrestler here!

Alex Braun:
I’ve met his Father on many occasions, over the years, and he’s got A LOT of Sam in him. He’s got a different tone, a cockier style, but his in-ring wrestling is flawless for his age. He’s got a bright future here in DOA; especially after beating Acid straight out of the gate!

Samuel Curran:
Something tells me though, knowing Acid’s past & Rebel Barbi’s, well, fervor, this isn’t the last time we’ve seen these two in the ring. I’ll put money on that one.

Alex Braun:
Not by a longshot. This win by Keith was great but, long term, can he stave off the insanity that is Acid? I’ve seen it first hand, Hell… I’ve felt it, and this psycho doesn’t back away lightly. He’s going to bring EVERYTHING he’s got next time and, to be honest, that’s a scary sight. Can Keith keep up? That remains to be seen!

Samuel Curran:
Tonight he did though! Tonight, Matthew Keith was our winner!

HYPE VIDEO

INVOLVED:
El Arma Mortal

"El Arma Mortal es próximos”

[A hype video is shown in a darkened space with small beams of light coming from, what appears to be, the ceiling. Within these beams, dust floats around and bounces off of the sweaty bare arm of an unknown man. Slowly, this unknown man, leanly muscled, is shown putting on some sense of attire within the darkness; a swat-like padded vest, leather pants & arm guards, and finally a menacing looking mouth-level mask. Finally, he disappears back into the darkness. In the end though, just his face re-emerges from within the darkness; a small shred of light illuminating his face. There we see a lightly sweaty face, beady eyes, wet jet back hair, and said menacing mask stretching across his mouth. Down below, we see the words “El Arma Mortal es próximos.” Seconds later, the video comes to an abrupt end as we return to the darkness one again.]

Samuel Curran:
Who the…

Alex Braun:
That’s a good question, Sam…

Samuel Curran:
Whoever he is, and I must admit my Spanish skills are rather limited, he appears to be coming…

Alex Braun:
Hopefully soon. I’d love to see what this guy has to offer to DOA. Great look!

[We transition backstage now in which to see Eric Tyler and Steven Parker standing before a darkened DOA backdrop (a wall-sized, textured, DOA logo). Eric Tyler, dressed in a conservative-styled suit, glares toward the camera lens with a sense of internal frustration deep within; a feeling that, to this point, has never truly subsided. Meanwhile, next to him, a smirking Steven Parker stands dressed much like the wrestlers from yesterday; equip with a flashy robe worn often in previous generations. As he wrenches his wrists, a typical wrestler move, Tyler starts off their promo with his quintessential demeaning tone.]

[Eric Tyler]:
There’s one question that I hear almost on a daily basis; ever since I single-handedly drove that pisshole DaVE into the ground. I’ve heard it from every corner of this country; relentlessly…
[Pauses]
Where… have you been?
[Pauses; snarls slightly]
While it’s true, ever since DaVE went belly-up I’ve been out of the mainstream light, that doesn’t mean I’ve stepped away from this sport altogether. Why would I walk away from the very sport I helped SAVE…
[Pauses]
I buried hardcore wrestling in the landfills where it belongs…
[Pauses]
So, to think I would just ‘walk away’ only shows how stupid you really are.
[Pauses]
I didn’t leave… I set out to find the next generation…
[Pauses; looks over at Parker for a second]
I set out to discover the man who would carry my banner long after I’ve left this world.
[Pauses]
I gave life to the next great wrestler willing to carry this thankless industry on his back; doing it the RIGHT away… the traditionalist way…

[Eric places his hand upon Parker’s shoulder as he continues to look at the camera lens before him. There’s an energy to his tone; a strength to his claim. Meanwhile, Parker’s smirk has grown larger as he nods his head in approval while looking at the lens as well.]

[Eric Tyler]:
… and I found that man in Steven Parker.
[Pauses]
Trained by Dark Angel… personally mentored by Rip Chord… This young man has all of the makings to dominate this industry for decades to come. He’s not a ‘brawler’…
[The last statement starting a new line for a demeaning tone]
He sure as hell isn’t a ‘hardcore psychopath’…
[Pauses; shakes his head]
No… He’s a Grade-A… on-the-spot… can’t be replicated… traditionalist.
[Pauses]
I’ve seen him compete on numerous occasions and, to be honest, no one can stand toe-to-toe with Steven Parker. Well, no one but me…
[slight snarl/smirk]
But that’s why I know he’s destined for greatness… I see myself in him… I see a man who’s willing to ‘do the right thing’, forgo the watered down ‘entertainment’ that these modern wrestlers aspire to work within, and truly… wrestle…
[Pauses]
Truly, ladies and gentlemen… The future is now… This is Steven Parker’s time to shine…

[steven Parker takes a second before looking deep into the camera lens; his eyes almost reaching the very soul of his viewers. With a slight smirk upon his face, the young technition commands the moment like a seasoned veteran; confident, brash, and a little rough around the edges in his tone.

[steven Parker]:
I’ve been told for years that my time was coming. I was told that, when that day came, there wouldn’t be a single soul who could stop me. Well, that day is now; whether you like it or not. This is MY time… MY company… MY industry to control.
[Pauses]
Others can sit on their fat a$$es, collecting million dollar contracts to pretend to be a ‘rock star’, but that’s not me…
[shakes his head; intense in his tone]
I’ll be busting my a$$ here in Deadly Overloaded Action NOT because of the sh*tty paychecks coming my way… but because I can…
[Pauses]
Because there isn’t a damn wrestler in the world who can stop me.
[Pauses]
I’m not here to celebrate with the fans… I’m not here to put DOA on the map… Honestly, I don’t really give a damn WHERE I wrestle or who I’m up against…
[Pauses]
The ONLY thing that matters to me is that I put their shoulders on the mat for a 1…2…3… and PROVE to the world that I can’t be stopped.
[Pauses]
So line up, make your threats, challenge me if you think you’ve got the balls to keep up…
[Pauses; smirks]
I’ll tell ya right now… You don’t… none of you do…
[Pauses]
and it’s about damn time that I show the world the truth…
[Pauses]
The future is now… MY TIME… is NOW!

[With that, Steven Parker nods his head in a confident fashion as he curls his lips in a closed mouth snarl of sorts. Meanwhile, Eric Tyler can’t help but crack a slight smirk upon his face as well; seeing his ‘chosen one’ verbally attack the wrestling world, as he did, on his first night in the mainstream light. The scene ultimately fades to a commercial break with the two staring before the lens; confident in what’s to come.]

GRADE:
C-

Samuel Curran:
I’ve heard a lot about Steven Parker throughout the years. He’s one of those “up and coming” talents that it’s impossible NOT to hear about. For years, there were rumors on the dirt sheets about how he was SO close to signing with THEM. Well, that never happened, some saying because of his attitude, but either way… That’s a benefit for Deadly Overloaded Action. He seems like a punk but, if the hype is real, he could go down as one of the strongest wrestlers in our company… if not the industry!

Alex Braun:
I’ve seen Steven Parker wrestle first-hand; many times actually. He’s an astounding talent. It’s not shocking AT ALL that Eric Tyler would hand-pick him to be the next “Traditionalist”. They both have a similar in ring style and, as Eric said, young Steven mirrors him in a lot of ways. Honestly, with Dark Angel, Rip Chord, and now Eric Tyler all playing a hand in his development, how COULDN’T Steven Parker be the next big thing in wrestling?

Samuel Curran:
Fortunately, we don’t have to wait much longer to see him in action. Steven Parker is going to make his DOA debut NEXT against the high flying torpedo that is Red Razor!

Alex Braun:
This is going to be a GREAT match! I can’t wait to see this one!

AT RINGSIDE:
Eric Tyler w/ Steven Parker

  • Steven Parker opens the match immediately with a boot to the stomach; wasting no time to get ahead. Shortly thereafter, he continues his onslaught in a disrespectful manner; slapping, poking eyes, and smirking to himself as Razor tries to get back to his feet.

  • Much to the crowd’s excitement though, Parker’s momentum is stalled early on as Red Razor springs back to his feet following a reversal (powerbomb into a DDT). From there, Razor begins to take flight and bounce around the ring in an explosive (yet controlled) fashion.

  • Sadly, Razor’s momentum doesn’t last very long. Parker moves aside as Red Razor whiffs on a top-rope cross body splash. Moments later, a strong closeline folds the masked flier with a head-rocking spinning closeline.

  • As Razor ends up staggered, Parker slides in and executes his signature “Future Shock” (Bridging Fisherman Suplex). As you’d expect, there’s no kick out from Razor. Meanwhile, Eric Tyler shows his excitement in an understated, very cold, fashion; clenching his fist before his chest and nodding once in stern approval.

Samuel Curran:
Red Razor is an exciting wrestler, that’s obvious, but Steven Parker is a well-polished competitor in there. He seems like a punk but Eric Tyler really DID find a diamond in the rough with this guy.

Alex Braun:
While he’s new to TV, this guy has truly been around the block. He was trained by the international ICON in Dark Angel. Later, came up through MAW and became closely associated with wrestling LEGEND Rip Chord; honing his craft in the Mid-Atlantic. Recently, I’ve seen the guy around the Tri-State area and, to be honest, that’s where the young guy toughened up. That’s the thing, he’s not JUST a technical prodigy but, recently, he’s grown quite a backbone as well. He’s rough… tough… and willing to get down and dirty to get the job done.

Samuel Curran:
You really know your stuff, Alex.

Alex Braun:
I do my homework, Sam. Plus, I’ve been following this guy for years. You’re right, he’s a punk, but he’s one hell of a talent.

Samuel Curran:
Plus, aligning with Eric Tyler won’t hurt him I suppose…

Alex Braun:
Not at all. Believe me, I know Tyler. We’ve thrown down MANY of times over the years and I can’t stand the guy. That said, I respect the man… How couldn’t you? Now, he’s turning his traditionalist ways in Parker’s corner.
[Pauses]
It won’t hurt him, not in the slightest. With his skill and Tyler’s management, Steven Parker could go straight to the top! You just hope he gets an attitude adjustment along the way…

Samuel Curran:
Yea, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one…

[A hype video is shown now depicting the individual journeys that both Akima Brave & Greg Black took to get here tonight. That said, while individual in nature, they share a lot in common in the way of tasting fame on an international level only to fall down from on high; forced to pick themselves up once again (by their own doing). During the presentation we witness how two men took/eventually overcome the same fall. Akima Brave took said fall as a ‘wake up call’; a fact that pushed him back into the gym & competing across the country in every ring possible. Meanwhile, Greg Black too it personally; blaming everyone (but himself) for the departure (claiming it was because he was made to look like a ‘joke’ on national television. In the end, regardless of how they got here tonight, both men look to enter tonight’s main event with something to prove. A win tonight would most certainly start their climb back to the top; only now in Deadly Overloaded Action.]

GRADE:
D

Samuel Curran:
This is a tale of two respected wrestlers who’ve come to Deadly Overloaded Action with something to prove. Their fall from grace was well documented over the years but, honestly, DOA lucked out GREATLY by having these two on the roster. There wouldn’t be a company if it weren’t for these two; they personify EVERYTHING this company stands for… hungry… determined… unwilling to back down…
[Pauses]
I don’t know about you Alex but I can’t wait for this match tonight.

Alex Braun:
Oh, it’s going to be one hell of a match, Sam. I’ve seen my fair share of classics, been a part of a few along the way as well, and this really has the chance to be great. As you said, we’ve got two respected veterans in our main event, two guys who’ve shown they can really ‘go’, and that makes for one hell of a possibility.

Samuel Curran:
That match is up later tonight but, before we get there, we’ve got a truly historic match on the horizon right now. We’re about to crown the first EVER DOA Tag Team Champions in a matter of minutes here. Who’s your money on, Alex?

Alex Braun:
I’ve got to say, I’m really liking what I’ve seen out of Pain & Gain. These guys are absolute behemoths!

Samuel Curran:
Tokyo Express or Death Row really have the experience on a ‘national level’ but my vote goes behind the hometown favorites in the Ring Generals. These guys grew up, trained, and went to school in Chicago; there’s no greater home field advantage, in a way, than this. We’ll see if they can get the job done tonight though!

  • There’s a blur within the ring as all 8 men are show engaged in one large brawl before the bell can even ring; both in-and-out-of the ring.

  • Eventually, the match would calm down and, in doing so, the early lead would fall in the lap of the skillful veterans in the Tokyo Express.

  • Really, Tokyo Express looks really strong right away; utilizing an array of high-impact strikes to both wow & overwhelm their opponents.

  • That said, the crowd favorites, mostly because they’re billed from Chicago, the Ring Generals build momentum of their own. That is until Death Row thwarts such a rise; knocking the bigger Marv Statler out with an unseen brass knuckle shot from Roach (hiding it before the referee could see).

  • Pain & Reign, wild and extremely powerful in nature, gives Death Row a run for their money; however, sadly would be slowed down due to the Tokyo Express & Death Row working together for a brief moment.

  • In the end, despite such a strong tag team match, the final outcome is influenced by the interference of another… Sayeed Ali.

  • Stomping out of the back, Ali storms the ring as DOA referee Matthew White is struggling to regain his composure following taking the brunt of an unexpected closeline from the brutish Dozer (he was aiming for Kazuma Narato as the veteran realized and dove out of the way).

  • Sayeed goes straight for the legal man in Dean Waldorf. In seconds, he practically knocks his head off with a steel chair strike that sends a loud thud throughout the DOA Arena. Seconds later, he escapes out of the ring; however, not before threatening the fallen Waldorf despite his unconscious state; barking obscenities at him.

  • With Waldorf out of it, Death Row swoops in and executes their signature “Death Sentence” (Double Rockbottom Chokeslam) on him. The impact sends his body completely limp.

  • Roach big boots Tank as he tries to stop the count and, in doing so, prevents anyone from changing the outcome. Shady gets the 1…2..3 & the DOA Tag Team Championships in the process!

Samuel Curran:
After SUCH a great match… THIS is the ending we get? Sayeed Ali running in and helping Death Row WIN the DOA Tag Team Championships? Way to TAINT the tag belts straight out of the gate!

Alex Braun:
I, honestly, don’t think they care, Sam. It’s not who they are… not what they care about. Shady and Roach… These aren’t good guys. They don’t care what you think about their win. At the end of the day, they won… they’ll go down in history. Respectable or not… Again, they don’t really care.

Samuel Curran:
These fans are pissed, Alex! Listen to this response!

Alex Braun:
You could tell they were firmly behind the hometown team, the Ring Generals. They wanted to see ‘one of their own’ walk away with the belts. There’s no shock to hear them rip into Death Row; especially after winning like they did.

[The greasy, rugged, hard-as-nails combination of Shady and Roach are given the DOA Tag Team Championships for the first-time in history shortly after their victory. The two, sharing a stern gaze, slam the gold plate of their championship belts together in a celebratory fashion before turning and presenting the belts to the booing crowd; gloating in a way. That said, the crowd’s response isn’t anything ‘amazing’. If anything, it seems rather lackluster and more annoyed than responding to ‘heat’.]

[in the end, with Sayeed Ali at their side, the hardened Tag Team Champions are shown briefly basking in the moment before exiting the ring in a heavy, rather emotionless, fashion. In this vein, the combo just reeks of gritty trouble.]

GRADE:
E

Samuel Curran:
Well, there you have it folks… your tag team champions…
[Pauses]
Not like they won the belts fair and square though…

Alex Braun:
We’re going to see a lot of these two in the next coming months, I have no doubt about that. For one, they’re our first ever DOA Tag Team Champions. On top of that, this little trio with Sayeed Ali has ‘bad news’ written all over it. These guys aren’t your typical ‘wrestlers’. No. They’re their own breed… a breed about violence… blood-shed… mayhem… I’ve seen it before, I’ve lived it before. DOA is in for a world of hurt with these guys.

[The sound of an unknown theme begins to blare throughout the DOA Arena as those in attendance wait in anticipation. Seconds later, Carl Batch is shown leading the way through the black curtain; cigar in mouth as he continues to jaw-jack toward the nearby camera. Behind him, Greg Black shuffles silently, calmly, as he looks around at the crowd as they pop for the former SWF wrestler. As they enter the ring, Greg Black is shown standing in the background, arms at his side in a calm fashion, as Carl Batch grabs onto a microphone and begins to talk (all the while holding his cigar in his hand; to his side).]

[Carl Batch]:
What the hell are you cheering for?

[batch states in a “WTF”/arrogant fashion. The crowd slowly begins to turn; sensing something is up.]

[Carl Batch]:
So, let me get this straight…
[Takes a drag of his cigar; puffing out smoke as he looks down for a second]
For years, you made this man dance around a ring just like this one… make a fool of himself… do a little ‘song-and-dance’ in which to get your approval?
[shakes his head; snickers]
You made this man a walking joke and practically pushed him to leave the very sport he loves most… And what for? For your entertainment? Your amusement?
[shakes his head again; taking another drag on his cigar]
That ends here tonight… That ends HERE… in Deadly Overloaded Action…

[The Chicago crowd boos like crazy as Black doesn’t bat an eye; calmly staring forward.]

[Carl Batch]:
This man is NO joke… you hear me?
[Looks out upon the crowd; confident]
He’s a decorated, determined, and dedicated athlete; the kind of competitor that can do it all… night in… night out. He’s a ‘wrestler’s wrestler’… A student of the game…
[Pauses]
What he’s not is a colorful, fun-loving, “I do it ALL for the people” kind of punk-a$$-b*tch… Ya hear?

[Again, the crowd boos like crazy.]

[Carl Batch]:
… and with my expert advice, he’s going straight to the top of Deadly Overloaded Action; starting tonight.
[Pauses]
Akima Brave…
[Looks toward the back]
You’re one hell of a fighter, I’ll give ya that, but you’re about to walk into the toughest challenge you’ve EVER encountered. You’ve shown that you can beat the no-namers on the indy scene but, tonight, you’ve got
THE
Greg Black standing opposite of you. There’s no beating this man, Akima…
[smirks as he points back toward a calmly staring Greg Black]
… He’s going to expose you for the ‘indy wannabe’ that you really are… So, get yourself ready; think about…

[before Carl can finish, another theme begins to overtake the DOA Arena. Within seconds, Akima Brave is shown stomping through the black curtain with a look of amped anger radiating through his muscular frame. As he projects his trademark snarl, the heavy-hitting middleweight stomps toward the ringside area, climbs into the ring, and goes straight to the action; stopping within a foot or so of the combination of Batch & Black. In doing so, Carl Batch extends his hand out to keep Greg Black ‘behind’; stepping forward to get face-to-face with Brave; a stupid move.]

[Carl Batch]:
Didn’t like what I had to say?
[snickers]
You may not like it but it’s the truth… I don’t blow… smoke…

[Despite saying that, meaning he doesn’t lie, Batch takes a puff of his cigar and blows said smoke square into the face of Akima. In doing so, Carl begins to chuckle in an arrogant fashion; watching Akima’s snarl grow larger. Within seconds though, Brave springs into action and grabs Carl by the throat with a single hand. This forces Batch to drop his cigar for a second, gasping for air, but the choke wouldn’t last long as Greg Black springs into action with a low drop-kick to Akima’s knee.]

[As Carl Batch staggers away, coughing but still able to pick up his cigar from the canvas, Greg Black continues his attack by stomping aggressively upon Akima’s stomach/chest/head. Thankfully though, Brave is able to get back to his feet and land a series of heavy-handed punches of his own. Sensing everything is coming together, Matthew White is shown calling for the bell; bringing the match to its official open.]

Alex Braun:
I love the early energy here; we’ve got ourselves one hell of a fight already!

MATCH TYPE:
Standard Singles Match; First Pinfall/Submission

TIME LIMIT:
N/A

REFEREE:
Matthew White

AT RINGSIDE:
Carl Batch w/ Greg Black

  • The initial brawl continues in a back-and-forth fashion for a good 20-seconds, pulling each wrestler in-and-out of turnbuckle corners in the process, until Akima Brave sends Greg Black flying over the top rope with a belly-to-belly standing suplex. In doing so, Black lands hard on the outside of the ring as the crowd pops for the amped-up Akima Brave.

  • Akima would follow him out of the ring; however, after a few punches of his own, Greg Black would gain an upper-hand with a European uppercut followed by a string of back-handed chops.

  • Black attempts and Irish whip of Akima Brave into the nearby metal turnbuckle pole but Akima blocks said attempt by stopping his momentum. As Black runs toward him, the “KOA Warrior” knocks Black to the ground with a spear-like maneuver; pounding away on Black’s head in the process.

  • Somehow, the two re-enter the ring before White’s ten-count.

  • Back in the ring, Akima & Greg put forth an all-out affair; pulling no stops in their back-and-forth (open) wrestling style. During this process, neither man looks that much better than the other; however, equally talented in their own right.

  • At one point, Greg Black would attempt his signature “Black Out” (Suplex into a Stunner) but Brave would counter such an attempt into a Brainbuster of his own. This would only generate a 2-count though.

  • With time, the “No Joke” wrestler starts to put forth an focused attack on Akima Brave’s knee. In doing so, he slows down the match in which to lock Brave’s semi-injured knee into a series of submission holds.

  • Despite hobbled, Akima would break free eventually & stay upright with an array of power-strikes. That is until Greg Black reverses another irish whip into a low-dropkick to Brave’s knee once again.

  • Again, hobbled Akima pushes through the pain and returns to an upright position. That said, it’s obvious that he’s not 100%.

  • Toward the 10-minute mark though, the “KOA Warrior” evens the score by dropping Greg Black on his head with a belly-to-belly overhead suplex. The impact seems to leave Greg quite woozy and unaware of where he is. Akima attempts a pinfall at this time; however, Greg Black, quite possibly on autopilot, is able to kick out at 2 ½.

  • In the end, Akima would lock in a belly-to-back suplex but Greg would be seen blocking such by holding the top rope. He fights with all he has left; however, after a quick head-butt to the back of Black’s head, the “No Joke” wrestler lets go of the rope & Akima executes the move.

  • After the impact though it looks like BOTH Akima & Black hit the back of their heads after such a powerful suplex maneuver. Never the less, Akima is somehow able to bridge his body in which to attempt a pinfall.

  • As Matthew White begins to count, it’s obvious to see that BOTH men actually have their shoulders on the matt…

  • 1…2…3!

  • There’s a final pinfall; however, it’s confusing, at first, as to what’s the official outcome.

  • After Matthew White exits the ring, speaking with the nearby ring announcer, we’re finally told what said official outcome is… (All the while both Akima & Greg lay on the canvas, no longer connected to one another in the pinfall attempt, and equally dazed).

ENDING MANEUVER:

Samuel Curran:
Wait… what?

[silence from the commentary team, as there’s confusion for the outcome]

Alex Braun:
Whoa…

Samuel Curran:
Matthew White just called this match a DRAW!

Alex Braun:
Were BOTH of their shoulders down?

Samuel Curran:
That’s what it sounds like… wow…

Alex Braun:
Is there a replay we can watch? Something?

Samuel Curran:
I’m guessing there HAS to be something back in the truck… maybe we’ll see a replay…

Alex Braun:
Just… shocking… wow…

[There’s a feel of great confusion around the ringside area at first. This can be seen both on the faces of the competitors and the overly inebriated fanbase at ringside. Slowly though, the picture becomes much clearer. Matthew White is shown pleading his case to an irate Carl Batch as the ‘fast-talking’ manager holds his lit cigar at his side; giving himself more ability to bark back toward the authoritative referee. Seconds later, Akima Brave and Greg Black join the argument, across from one another, as they equally share their anger over the outcome of the match. As you’d expect, Black & Brave eventually turn their attention toward one another once again as they stand nose-to-nose post-match. In the end, the broadcast comes to an end with the rabid DOA fans booing as Black/Brave stand angrily nose-to-nose & Batch continues to bark in the face of the strong-standing White.]

GRADE:

Samuel Curran:
The DOA Arena is in a state of shock… We ALL know the outcome by now but, still, it’s not sinking in. Batch… Brave… Black… they’re all barking at our referee over, what they believe to be, mismanagement of the final pinfall. Both sides think it should have gone their way…

Alex Braun:
They both do but, in reality, after seeing the replay, I think Matthew White did the right thing with his call. I’m sure we’ll be hearing from the network at some point in the next week, clean up the decision, but I expect for their message to coincide with White’s call. Whether they like it or not, or these fans to be honest, this is the true outcome of tonight’s main event. Both men gave it everything… so much so that they wrestled their way to a draw…

The FIRST-EVER broadcast of DOA Rapid Assault ended in considerable controversy. The main event was billed as a litmus test between two respected veterans in Akima Brave and Greg Black. We knew the match would be heavily contested; however, had no idea that said contention would last up until the very end. The final pinfall was counted for both men and, in turn, DOA referee Matthew White had no other choice than to call the match a draw. This sent the DOA Arena into a state of confusion; the competitors were much the same.

Today, Arcadia has stepped forward with a comment on the matter. As you will see, they appear to back the decision made by White.

“Rapid Assault ended in controversy for some but, in reality, the right decision was made in the ring by Matthew White. Both men put forth an amazing effort, and truly brought the house down in our opening broadcast, but, when you look at the replay, it’s obvious to see that the match was truly a draw. Akima Brave executed a belly-to-back bridging suplex but, in the process, seemed to hit his own head upon the canvas as well. This dazed the “KOA Warrior” and, in doing so, made it impossible for him to remove his shoulders off the matt during the duration of the count. Ultimately, this led to the decision of a draw. We stand behind Matthew White and his decision.”

While some are mad with the ultimate outcome, DOA officials have tempered any long-term frustration with the note that both men will compete once again in the future. At this point though, it doesn’t appear to be next week, at least not in a one-on-one scenario, as said officials have already leaked the main event for next week: Matthew Keith & Akima Brave vs. Acid & Greg Black.

Awesome show, E-V. Sorry I missed the build up, but I enjoyed the read.

No worries, at all, for missing the build up Sudo! Truthfully, I'm just happy you enjoyed what you read when you 'got your hands on it'.
:)

Oh my!!! Amazing show!!! :D Loved the way the Main Event ended. Instant feud between two of your top, top names!!! :D Well done man, and welcome back!!!

Thank you, Lloyd!

I mulled around different endings and finally rested on this idea. The others may have been more 'flashy' but I really wanted the final message to be more about Akima & Black in the ring (not really an SE-type closer at this point). To me, these two are my Jarrett/Angle feud in TNA a few years back. Both could, and many, gravitate toward the DOA Championship but their popularity makes it so they can have a strong feud that isn't JUST about a belt. Instead, with this outcome as the basis, the two are more fixated on 'beating the other' and proving that they're better (simply put).

Also, it's great to be back.
;)

DOA NEWS: NEW COUPLE, HUGGINS TO DOA?, ARCADIA IS HIGH ON CRUISE & OTHERS, TENSION ALREADY BETWEEN THE NETWORK & DOA OFFICIALS?

http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b579/RiseofDOA/PWH%20News/SeanRivers_zpsa2333c38.jpg

KC GLENN (RED RAZOR) AND REBEL BARBI ARE DATING

Deadly Overloaded Action may still be in its infancy but it appears love is already in the air backstage. KC Glenn (known as Red Razor in DOA) is said to be spending a lot of time with the controversial ‘punk pin-up girl’ Rebel Barbi. Many say that the couple seems to be very happy with one another; however, there are others who seem shocked by the pairing. Rebel Barbi is well-known for her extreme liberal nature, while KC Glenn, a newcomer to the mainstream industry, is said to be very private and overly conservative in nature. Ultimately, it appears that opposites really do attract.

FREDDY HUGGNIS HEADED TO DOA?

Initial reports are hazy at this point but it appears that one of TCW’s “Canadian Animals” may be on his way to Deadly Overloaded Action. It’s being said that Tommy Cornell’s offer stands to give Huggins more international exposure but that DOA officials are willing to add several perks to the table; even paying him up to $2,000 more a month. At this point, the negotiations appear to be at a stalemate; however, several insiders feel that the young Huggins will return to TCW when it’s all said and done. One reason being that DOA officials are not entirely sold on “offering the farm” to Huggins.

ARCADIA PUSHES FOR SEBASTIAN CRUISE

Insiders within Deadly Overloaded Action have claimed that the Arcadia network is already influencing DOA officials as it pertains to who should be pushed. While said officials are very high on Steven Parker, it’s said that network executives want to see Sebastian Cruise pushed to the top of the company. This appears to be a mandate of sorts; some going as far as saying that Arcadia wants to see Cruise maintain a high level of momentum throughout his contract (OOC: C+). As you can expect, the initial makings for a sense of tension is already present with both sides giving their reasons for such.

To add another level of depth to their claim, it also seems as though Arcadia is willing and interested to create an original ‘reality TV show’ around the smarky Cruise. While this is only a rumor at this point, several insiders within DOA have stated that Arcadia executives would like to create a show much like ‘The Bachelor’ for Cruise. That said, keeping with Arcadia’s norms, it would be much more of a “Bad Bachelor” take than anything else.

ADDITIONAL WRESTLERS PUSHED BY ARCADIA

It should also be noted that the same sources are stating that both Akima Brave and Acid are favorites of the Arcadia network executives.

DOA can always wait until Total inevitably falls to cult and get him on a PPA. Tommy Cornell, never change.

Hey E-V,

Like I said in the DOTM, a great first show to begin things. Looking forward to the feud between Greg Black and Akima Brave being what carries things forward at the moment. I've always loved how you portray Eric Tyler. I think that has been proven time and time again. LOL. A little surprised at the Death Row victory, though, I shouldn't be! Looking forward to seeing what you do with Acid moving forward. Great looking diary so far!

I would love to see an EV take on Freddy Huggins if he can sign to DOA. In my mind, he's always been entrenched with either the fun-loving pairing with Edd Stone or the "Fearless, Peerless, Perfect" catchphrase I tagged him with the first time I signed him to SWF and I'd really like to see another take on him, specifically with him toeing the top of the card overness-wise in DOA.
