They argued over whose fault it was that interim Commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper had ordered them to try and work together as a tag team. Then they argued over who was going to lead the team tonight as they had a tag match against an equally mongrel team of Konnan and Jacques Rougeau coming up in just mere moments. And they even argued over their team name. Mongo wanted to call the team the Bear Packers, while Jarrett wanted to call it Ain't We Great. Debra McMichael finally chimed in and said "How about 'Best of the Best?'" They looked at her as if she had just told them that 2+2=7. While Mongo and Jarrett couldn't get along, they did seem to work well as a tag team, even if their tags were a bit sarcastic and they tagged themselves in and out in an effort to hog the glory. Konnan and Jacques tried to get along, but it seemed like their timing was off (kayfabe timing, not in-game chemistry timing). Konnan held Jarrett in position for Jacques, but Jacques inadvertently hit Konnan with a crescent kick as Jarrett ducked. Konnan was so infuriated that he walked out on Jacques, who tried telling him it was an accident. Meanwhile, Mongo was tagged in, grabbed Jacques and hit him with the Mongo Spike, enabling Best of the Best to win in 8:14 by pinfall.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><em>Winners by Pinfall: Best of the Best</em></strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38766" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><em>Dancing Fools</em></strong></p></div><p> </p><p> After the commercial break, it was time for the dance contest between Disco Inferno and Alex Wright, with Mean Gene Okerlund serving as the emcee. Wallstreet really made a great pitch about how much better Jericho's career would be if he just joined the nWo. Jericho inquired about where brothers Adam and Christian Castle of Radically Awesome were, and Wallstreet said they probably wouldn't get to wrestle tonight because they were busy paying their dues cleaning up every single toilet in the arena with a toothbrush. But Wallstreet told Jericho he wouldn't need to pay his dues upon joining the nWo because he had already proven himself as a valuable commodity. Jericho said he had given it a lot of thought, and the way he was nodding his head, it looked as if he was joining... NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND! Jericho told Wallstreet that he didn't want anything to do with the nWo, and that he had succeeded all over the world without the help of any thugs, and he wasn't about to start now. He walked off, and Wallstreet was visibly angry, shouting "YOU'LL BE SORRY! At one point in the match, Chris Benoit was distracted for a bit when he saw Kevin Sullivan standing out by the entrance area, allowing Dean Malenko to hit him with a Tiger Suplex for a pin, but Benoit managed to kick out. The end came when the match practically turned into a Pier Six brawl. Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero and Dean Malenko all wound up outside the ring to continue the melee while RVD took out Ultimo Dragon with a roundhouse kick, then jumped to the top turnbuckle and came flying down with a Five Star Frog Splash that caught Eddy's attention, getting the victory for the Horsemen at 13:37.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><em>Winners by Pinfall: Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit and Rob Van Dam</em></strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38766" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><em>Contract Signing Earlier Today</em></strong></p></div><p> </p><p> Earlier in the day, there was a contract signing between Curt Hennig and Randy "Macho Man" Savage to make their match at SuperBrawl official, and to waive WCW of any responsibility should Curt Hennig get injured seeing as that he was still a free agent. Mean Gene Okerlund helped serve as the emcee for this press conference that hosted the contract signing, and interim commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper oversaw the proceedings while Elizabeth just stood by Macho Man's side. The match was a brawl practically from start to finish, with both sides bending and even breaking the rules, with the referee being extra lenient given the circumstances of this war between WCW and the nWo. Toward the end, the Outsiders and the Road Warriors wound up fighting each other to the back as the referee had his back turned, yelling at them to come back. That gave Syxx the opportunity to grab some powder out of his kick pad and throw it in DDP's face, blinding him and allowing Syxx to take him down with a Face Buster for the victory at 14:51 as the ref turned around to count upon hearing the impact of said Face Buster.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><em>Winners by Pinfall: Syxx and the Outsiders</em></strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38766" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><em>Dusty With a Big Announcement</em></strong></p></div><p> </p><p> Back from commercial break, and Mean Gene brings out both Commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper and Saturday Night commentator, Dusty Rhodes. Piper said that as someone who had hosted his own talk show before, he was honored to announce that one of WCW's legendary figures was getting his own talk show, and that it would premiere at SuperBrawl. Dusty Rhodes put over that at SuperBrawl, we would see the premiere edition of "Dusty's Corral, bab-eh!" He would ask "thee hawd ques-tons, if you will," and that the fans would be the ones "gettin' to go to da pay windah" as they'd be getting a great interview time in and time out. This prompted Lex Luger to come out and tell Dusty that he wanted to be the first guest on Dusty's Corral, and said that he would do his very best to produce Sting, and maybe FINALLY we would hear something from him. Dusty nodded his head in approval and told Luger to "Make it happen, bab-eh!" Tony Schiavone informed the fans that after this last commercial break, we would be back with the main event that they had hyped all night: Hollywood Hogan vs. Ric Flair in a non-title bout.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38766" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><em>Main Event</em></strong></p></div><p><strong><em> Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair</em></strong></p><p> </p><p> There was definitely no love lost here as Hogan and Flair pretty much threw out the rulebook from the word go. Halfway through the match, Hogan had the ref distracted while Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton of Vicious & Delicious came running down to attack Flair. That brought out "Double A" Arn Anderson, who chased Bagwell and Norton away from the ring, which in turn distracted Hogan as he argued with Double A. Flair fought back with his series of patented knife edge chops, but Hogan turned things back around with a good ol' poke to the eyes. Hogan seemed to have Flair down and out until the Giant lumbered down to the ring and attacked Hogan, giving Hogan the victory at 14:06 by disqualification.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><em>Winner by Disqualification: Hollywood Hulk Hogan</em></strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38766" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><em>Post Match Attack</em></strong></p></div><p> </p><p> The nWo couldn't stand by as their leader was being attacked by the Giant. Eric Bischoff came running out, waving on his troops to run out to attack the Giant. Out came the Outsiders, and Vicious & Delicious (Syxx was apparently being tended to by a physician), who all ganged up on the Giant. The big man tried to fight back, but the numbers game became too great as Scott Hall blinded the Giant with a can of black spray paint. Kevin Nash took Giant's strap down, and Hollywood Hogan was ready to tag the Giant with the patented nWo graffiti, but the crowd was buzzing as Sting came repelling down from the rafters, baseball bat in hand. The nWo turned their attention to Sting, thinking that maybe, just maybe he would join them this time. He even gave them a smirk, and they arrogantly turned around, celebrating Sting possibly joining them. But Sting grabbed Buff Bagwell and took him down with a new move dubbed the Scorpion Death Drop, which was his take on the Reverse DDT. The nWo turned around, and Sting attacked everyone with his baseball bat, sending the nWo scurrying out of the ring like a bunch of cowards. Sting stared them all down as the nWo told him there would be hell to pay.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <strong><em><span style="font-size:14px;">Final Grade: A</span></em></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> This show increased popularity in 10 regions.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><em>Backstage notes: Carl Oulette provoked Konnan into a heated argument, and he was fired for his troubles. This past weekend was the WWF's annual Royal Rumble PPV. Some odd booking as we saw the Headbangers go over Marc Mero and Jesse "Don't Call Me Brian Armstrong" James, and Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart retain their WWF Tag Team Titles against Terry Funk and Blackjack Bradshaw even though they're in a feud with Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. The storyline going in was that if either Bret or Shawn interfered, they would be suspended, and later in the show, we'd see Davey Boy Smith attack HBK in a backstage skit. The Undertaker carried Sycho Sid to a very good match as Sid retained the WWF Heavyweight Title over the Dead Man. And Bret "Hitman" Hart won this year's edition of the Royal Rumble.</strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong> </strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong>

Now onto Monday Nitro. Apparently there were fireworks before the show had even gotten started. Carl Oulette, who apparently was already on thin ice for prior incidents backstage (not to mention he couldn't get along with Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Syxx), was fired after provoking Konnan into an argument. I don't have this on good authority just yet, but I have heard rumors that some of the things Oulette said to Konnan were very unsavory to say the least. However, that is only rumor. What is not rumor is that Oulette has been released, and apparently Konnan really appreciated Bischoff sticking up for him as he has put over how well Bischoff handled the situation, saying on a radio interview the next morning that he owed Bischoff his loyalty for how he handled the situation.</strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong> </strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong>

Moving on from that controversy, Nitro itself I felt was better than last week's offering. This time around, we kicked off the show with a great match as the Harlem Heat got the victory over the Steiner Brothers, and then the Faces of Fear and Public Enemy hit the ring to start an all out brawl! Can't wait for this 4 Corners Tag Team Elimination bout at SuperBrawl. I'm really starting to enjoy the oddball dynamic of Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Jeff Jarrett and Debra. That backstage skit last night was pretty entertaining, and the way they worked together (or was it against each other) was pretty comical as well. What's great about this is that it hides Mongo's less than stellar ring work, and it's gotten me interested in freaking Steve "Mongo" McMichael!</strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong> </strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong>

Rob Van Dam certainly didn't disappoint in his debut, picking up the victory for his team with his Five Star Frog Splash. I noticed how it got Eddy Guerrero's attention. Could that be a sign of things to come? And the Road Warriors didn't seem to miss a beat whatsoever as they returned to the ring after a bit of a hiatus. And while we've seen Hogan/Flair before, those two didn't fail to put on a great match, even with the DQ ending. Makes sense though as this match served to help advance the New World Order angle. And watching Sting take out nWo members seems to indicate he'll be siding with WCW. But then again, we can't be too sure of where Sting's head is at these days, can we?</strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong> </strong></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><em><strong>

My friend let me watch his tape of Raw, and poor Brian Pillman having to carry Ahmed Johnson in that verbal confrontation backstage. And it seems they were selling Shawn being out of action as they had Undertaker team up with Bret Hart to beat Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith in a non-title bout. Meanwhile, Sid and Mankind headlined the show in a non-title bout that Mankind won. Overall, I give Nitro a 90, and Raw an 83. The TV ratings seemed to reflect that as well as Nitro beat Raw 3.5 to 2.6. While on the surface it doesn't look like either show gained or loss, keep in mind these numbers are rounded. Raw didn't budge as the last rating was 2.57 just as the last show. Nitro, however, did move the needle as they went from 3.48 to 3.51. That's it for today's posting! Have a nice day!</strong></em></span></p></div><p></p><p></p>

WCW Saturday Night

Center Stage Theater

Atlanta, Georgia

Attendance: 1,000 (Sell Out!)

Random Incidents: Meng brought enough alcohol to float a battleship.

==========================================================

Kevin Sullivan and Lance Storm defeated Jim Duggan and the Renegade in 8:29 when Lance Storm made the Renegade submit with a Single Leg Crab.

Grade: C+

We go to video footage that was recorded earlier today. Commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper told Nick Patrick that he can continue his career in WCW as a referee, but that it would be on a probationary basis. Patrick gave his word that he would not show anymore nWo bias.

Grade: B-

Dean Malenko, Ultimo Dragon and Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Prince Iaukea, Billy Kidman and Ray Odyssey in 7:33 when Ultimo Dragon made Ray Odyssey submit with the Dragon Sleeper.

Grade: D+

*Billy Kidman switched to an Underdog (Realistic) gimmick, which got a 92 rating.*

Mean Gene Okerlund interviewed Jimmy Hart in front of the Saturday Night wall. Hart put over his team of Meng and Barbarian, the Faces of Fear, and how they would win the 4 Corners Tag Match at SuperBrawl and go on to challenge the WCW World Tag Team Champions, whoever they may be after SuperBrawl.

Grade: B

The Armstrongs defeated Buddy Wayne and Dusty Wolfe in 5:07 when Scott Armstrong pinned Dusty Wolfe after hitting him with a Missile Dropkick.

Grade: D-

*Dusty Wolfe debuted his Old School Heel (Realistic) gimmick, which got an 87 rating.*

WCW decided to bring back an old classic as we went to "The Bobby Heenan Show," which was divided up into two segments with a commercial break in between. Bobby Heenan's first guests were Super Calo and La Parka, who talked to Heenan in Spanish. Heenan didn't act confused, but rather acted as if he understood everything they said in Spanish, responded to them in English, and they would respond in Spanish as if they understood what the Brain said.

Grade: C

It was time for part two of "The Bobby Heenan Show" as Heenan interviewed James Vandenberg, who brought Hugh Morrus and Mortis along with him. They pretty much sat in the background as Vandenberg put over how that they would overtake WCW, and that one day, they would overrun WCW to the point that WCW fans would one day wish for the nWo to save the day.

Grade: C-

Squire David Taylor and Doc Dean of the United Empire defeated Joey Maggs and Mike Rapada in 5:07 when Squire David Taylor pinned Joey Maggs by pinfall with a Butterfly Suplex.

Grade: D-

Back to the Saturday Night interview wall, where Mean Gene interviewed Jacques Rougeau about what happened with Konnan this past Monday night on Nitro. Jacques said it was obvious that he and Konnan couldn't get along, and that it was all Konnan's fault for being an unprofessional jerk that wouldn't listen to him. Jacques said he was issuing a challenge for Konnan anytime, anywhere.

Grade: C

Scotty Riggs defeated Rockin' Rebel in 4:54 by pinfall with an American-Plex.

Grade: E+

The following announcement... has been paid for... by the New World Order.

It was time once again for one of those signature black and white nWo promos, where Hollywood Hulk Hogan and the Outsiders were joined by the newest members, Adam and Christian Castle of Radically Awesome. Adam and Christian tried to say something, but Hogan and the Outsiders kept talking over them, preventing the youngsters from getting a word in edge wise.

The preceding announcement... has been paid for... by the New World Order.

Grade: A*

Alex Wright drew with Disco Inferno in 8:02 following a double count out.

Grade: C-

To the SuperBrawl Control Center we went with Mean Gene, who put over the now complete card for SuperBrawl, with a Triangle Match for the TV Title added that would pit Chris Jericho against Lord Steven Regal and Bobby Eaton, and the title would be on the line regardless which of the three was champion by the time SuperBrawl rolled around. Mean Gene also announced that Eddy Guerrero would be defending the WCW United States Championship against Jeff Jarrett, and then went to pre-recorded promos from Hollywood Hulk Hogan and the Giant, who hyped the Terror Dome.

Grade: B

WCW World Television Championship

Chris Jericho defeated Bobby Eaton in 14:19 by pinfall when Lord Steven Regal interfered, unbeknownst to Jericho as the ref was checking on him while he was down and out. Jericho, unaware of the interference, crawled over to make the cover.

Grade: C

After the match, V.K. Wallstreet and Syxx ran down to the ring to attack Chris Jericho in retaliation for him refusing to join the nWo. Diamond Dallas Page ran down to the ring to help even the odds, clotheslining Wallstreet out of the ring and knocking Syxx down with a discus clothesline. He picked Syxx up to try and hit him with a Diamond Cutter, but Syxx slipped away and got out of the ring, backing away along with V.K. Wallstreet.

Grade: C

Final Show Grade: B-

The Fountain of Misinformation's Rumor Mill

The Fountain of Misinformation here with a brief post today as I gear up for Monday Nitro. January seems to have been a great month for WCW, as the company made a profit of $549,802. And apparently WCW has begun to provide catering, a masseuse and chiropractor, and now will be putting some more money into the production and merchandise side of things. How this will play out in the long run is anyone's guess, and I've heard through the grapevine that Eric Bischoff has made it known to the roster that as the extra perks will be around as long as the company makes money. That's it for today's short posting!

Monday Nitro

Monday Night, Week 1, February 1997

Reunion Arena

Dallas, Texas

Attendance: 16,500 (SELL OUT!)

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Larry Zbyszko

Pre-Show Dark Match:

Alex Wright defeated Jacques Rougeau in 6:43 by pinfall with a moonsault.

Hogan & Bischoff Kick Off The Show

<iframe width="350" height="197" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ugUhG-nqFPE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hollywood Hulk Hogan, playing air guitar on the WCW ("nWo") World Title like only he can, came out to the ring along with Eric Bischoff. They mentioned that the rest of the nWo was on their way after having some fun at the Studios in Las Colinas filming a movie about the Dallas Cowboys, which was easy because all they had to do to play the part was drink and party all day, which got some good, albeit cheap, heat from the Dallas fans. The Giant came out onto the stage and told Hogan to laugh it up now while he could, because come SuperBrawl, the fun and games would be over once they were locked inside the Terror Dome.

Then the Four Horsemen came out, with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson doing the talking while Rob Van Dam and Chris Benoit stood in the background. They told Hogan that Vicious & Delicious better be careful what they wish for, because at SuperBrawl, they were going to sweat, bleed and pay the price for wanting to try to make a name for themselves at the expense of the Four Horsemen. And Flair told Hogan that he wasn't mad at the Giant one iota for what happened last week in causing him to be disqualified because he knew he can beat Hogan anytime, anywhere. Hogan started talking smack back to Flair when interim Commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper came out. He told Hogan to pick four of the best wrestlers in the New World Order because tonight, he was teaming up with them in a 10 man tag team match against the Giant and the Four Horsemen! Bischoff and Hogan were irate while the Giant and Horsemen were smiling from ear to ear.

Grade: A

The Steiner Brothers w/Madusa vs. The Faces of Fear w/Jimmy Hart

The announce team mentioned that to ensure that there would be no interference in this match, interim Commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper had booked Public Enemy in a match later on tonight, while Harlem Heat would get the night off. That didn't stop shenanigans from happening in this match as Madusa distracted Meng with some cleavage, allowing the Steiners to get the upper hand for a bit. Jimmy Hart would try to trip up Rick Steiner at one point, distracting him and allowing the Faces of Fear to take control. The Steiners would win by disqualification in 9:49 when the Barbarian did not want to let go of a blatant choke on Scott Steiner and pushed the referee away not once, but twice! Meng ran in to help Barbarian brutalize Scott, but Rick came running in and knocked them both out of the ring with Steinerlines.

Grade: B

Winners by Disqualification: The Steiner Brothers

In-Ring Interview w/Curt Hennig

Mean Gene Okerlund was in the ring to interview Curt Hennig. Hennig hyped up the match at SuperBrawl VII against "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and said that Savage better have negotiated a great royalties contract for those Slim Jim commercials because with WCW not being held liable for whatever happens, it would spell the end of Macho Man's career, and this time his career really would come to an end unlike the last time his career was on the line six years ago. Macho Man came out onto the stage with Elizabeth standing in the background and proceeded to tell Curt that while he never really cared for him, he had always respected him up until he watched a tape of Nitro from a few weeks back where he and Bobby Heenan were cutting up at the Macho Man and Elizabeth's expense. Macho Man told Curt that at SuperBrawl, all bets were off, and that as much as he wanted to fight him right now, interim Commissioner Piper has ordered the both of them not to even touch each other until SuperBrawl lest they be banned from WCW forever.

Grade: A

Backstage w/Hogan, Bischoff and DiBiase

Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff asked Ted DiBiase where the rest of the New World Order was, and DiBiase told them that they should be here any moment. Hogan and Bischoff told DiBiase about the 10 man tag match for tonight, which Adam and Christian Castle of Radically Awesome were more than "totally" ready for. Adam and Christian poked fun at the respective ages of Flair and Double A; mocked the Giant as being a dumb oaf; mocked Chris Benoit as a boring "Mr. Roboto;" then mocked Rob Van Dam's martial arts by making mocking martial arts motions. Ted DiBiase told Adam and Christian Castle they wouldn't be in the match tonight because they still need to pay their dues in the New World Order, and Eric Bischoff proceeded to tell them that tonight they would do that by selling nWo merchandise outside in the cold... in their boxers. The looks on their faces seemed to say that Radically Awesome didn't seem too thrilled, but they acted like they were more than happy to take one for the team tonight.

Grade: C+

The Road Warriors vs. Public Enemy

The Road Warriors defeated Public Enemy in 7:34 when Road Warrior Hawk defeated Rocco Rock by pinfall with a Doomsday Device. Before the finish, the referee and Rocco Rock both got distracted by Sister Sherri while Harlem Heat ran out and attacked Johnny Grunge, which left Rock open for the Doomsday Device from the Road Warriors.

Grade: B-

Winners by Pinfall: The Road Warriors

Psicosis Hype Video

http://i.imgur.com/dSr5lav.jpg

After a hype video showing off Psicosis in action down in Mexico, we go to Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Larry Zbyszko, who all put over what a talent WCW has signed in Psicosis, and that apparently he and Rey Mysterio Jr. have had a rivalry that has gone all over the world and could potentially come to a head here in WCW.

Grade: C

*Psicosis debuted his Old School Heel (Cocky) gimmick, which got an 89.*

Best of the Best w/Debra McMichael vs. Buddy Wayne and Dusty Wolfe

This match didn't last very long, nor did it need to. It served its purpose in advancing angles as Eddy Guerrero came out onto the stage area to scout Jeff Jarrett from afar, and Steve McMichael and Jeff Jarrett managed to cream their competition despite not being able to get along. Mongo would hit the Mongo Spike on Dusty Wolfe, but just like at nWo Souled Out, Jarrett tagged himself in and got the pin for his team in 3:49, which didn't sit well with Mongo, though Debra seemed happy about it.

Grade: D

Winners by Pinfall: Best of the Best

Cruiserweights Video

We saw a special video package highlighting Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio Jr., Chavo Guerrero Jr., Ultimo Dragon, Juventud Guerrera and Super Calo, who all would be taking part in the ladder match for the WCW Cruiserweight Title at SuperBrawl VII.

Grade: D-

Lex Luger vs. Brad Armstrong

No real story here as this match was more or less to help Luger sharpen his ring skills against someone with a bit more in-ring talent in Brad Armstrong, even if both wrestlers were babyfaces. Luger throughout the match kept getting distracted when he saw Sting sitting up in the rafters, but still managed to defeat Brad in 6:10 with the Torture Rack.

Grade: B-

Winner by Submission: Lex Luger

Mean Gene Interviews Sony Onoo

To the stage area we go, where Mean Gene interviews Sonny Onoo with Juventud Guerrera. Onoo puts over Juvi and talks about how he'll be the one climbing the ladder at SuperBrawl to become the new Cruiserweight Champion.

Grade: C

Diamond Dallas Page w/Kimberly vs. Konnan

Even though the outcome might not have been in question, these two made it into a good fight that could have gone either way. Konnan wanted to prove that he can make it on his own without any help from the now defunct Dungeon of Doom, and DDP wanted to show Syxx and the rest of the nWo that they were dealing with some real competition. Jacques Rougeau, still bitter about last week, came down to distract Konnan. DDP turned Konnan around and nailed him with a sudden Diamond Cutter to win the match in 10:37.

Match Grade: B-

Winner by Pinfall: Diamond Dallas Page

Post Match Beat Down!

The nWo had apparently made it back from the Studios in Las Colinas as Syxx came running in through the crowd and blindsided DDP with a spinning heel kick to the back of the head, then locked him into the Buzzkill and wouldn't let go as Kimberly pleaded for Syxx to let go. Syxx finally let go, and Kimberly ran in to cover DDP in hopes the beating would stop. Syxx waved on for some assistance, and out came V.K. Wallstreet, spray paint in hand. He and Syxx were ready to tag Kimberly with the spray paint until Chris Jericho came running down to the ring and started punching away at both of them, sending both of them running out of the ring and toward the back.

Segment Grade: C-

The New World Order (Hollywood Hulk Hogan, the Outsiders and Vicious & Delicious) w/Ted DiBiase

vs.

The Giant and the Four Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit and Rob Van Dam) w/Woman

This match was pretty much a brawl from start to finish, and an entertaining one at that. At one point, Buff Bagwell seemed to have Chris Benoit down and out, but instead of going to finish him off, he tried flirting with Woman, which earned him a hard slap across the face. Rob Van Dam got to show off what he could do, throwing Hogan off with his array of martial arts and almost getting the victory with a Split Legged Moonsault. The bout would eventually descend into mass chaos, which allowed for Kevin Sullivan to come out from the crowd and start trying to grab Woman. This distracted Chris Benoit, who knocked Sullivan down to the floor with a baseball slide. Benoit turned around and right into a right hand from Hogan, which knocked him out cold thanks in part to the brass knuckles that Ted DiBiase handed Hogan. Hogan ran the ropes, hit the Big Leg Drop, and Ted DiBiase managed to get the ref to turn around to count the pinfall.

Match Grade: B

Winners by Pinfall: The New World Order

Post Match Surprise

The Giant managed to free himself after knocking down various nWo members and allowing the Horsemen to brawl with them to the back. He came down to the ring to confront Hogan and told him he had a surprise for him, which Hogan didn't seemed very concerned about in the least.

<iframe width="350" height="263" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/0c3d7QgZr7g?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

http://i.imgur.com/0IQynF3.jpg

The Dallas crowd came unglued as their hometown hero, Kevin Von Erich, came down to the ring to confront one of the few men in the business he had never faced, Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Hogan looked like he had seen a ghost, and could be heard shouting "This isn't real! This isn't happening!" Kevin got into the ring, stared down Hogan, and Hogan went for a right hand. But Kevin blocked it, nailing Hogan with a couple of right hands of his own, then lifted up his hand and locked Hogan into the Iron Claw to a deafening roar. Kevin then let go and threw Hogan into the Giant, who chokeslammed him to the mat as the show faded to black.

Segment Grade: A

Final Grade: B+

Backstage notes: Ric Flair pulled a great rib on the entire locker room that had everyone laughing afterward.

Good show.

Thank you! :)

And just an update so you all know that this diary is not dead, not by a long shot. I've just been taking a break from it while playing other saves during the holidays, and I've been doing work around the house the last week too. I hope to get a Fountain of Misinformation post and Saturday Night posted by this weekend.

The Fountain of Misinformation's Rumor Mill

This past Monday night's edition of Nitro might not have been the be all end all episode of all time or somesuch, but it helped advance storylines and was pretty entertaining nonetheless. I'm liking Rowdy Roddy Piper in this role as interim WCW Commissioner. Whether he gets that position permanently or not is anyone's guess. It's nice that the cruiserweights are getting some love, especially since they got a video package of their own to hype the upcoming ladder match at SuperBrawl. And the 10 man tag main event was pretty wild, and the Dallas crowd came unglued at the appearance of Kevin Von Erich, and got even louder as he locked Hulk Hogan in the dreaded and feared Iron Claw.

Meanwhile, on Monday Night Raw, they continue to advance the interesting storylines of Undertaker vs. Sycho Sid, and Mankind vs. Vader. But what's going on with the storyline of Pillman and Ahmed? Pillman was relegated to beating Phineas Godwinn in a dark match, while Rocky Maivia and Billy Gunn to wrestling each other in a dark match. If any of those workers get too bitter, maybe they'll find their way down south, where Eric Bischoff seems to be more intent on building for the future while the veterans headline the cards and hopefully help in the development of the younger workers.

Overall, I give Nitro an 85, while I give Raw an 82. I guess the very small uptick for Raw's rating could be attributed to some of the new angles going on. That's all for today, folks!

WCW Saturday Night

February Week 1

Center Stage Theater

Atlanta, Georgia

Attendance: 1,000

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes

Alex Wright and Brad Armstrong def. Squire David Taylor and Doc Dean of the United Empire by pinfall when Brad pinned Dean after a distraction from Bobby Eaton. Earlier in the match, Lord Steven Regal was ejected from ringside after attacking Brad Armstrong, while at one point, Disco Inferno distracted Alex Wright to allow Taylor and Dean to get some extra offense in.

Grade: D

Hollywood Hulk Hogan and the Outsiders do their patented nWo black and white promo, talking trash about the Giant and Road Warriors while the nWo's newest lackeys, Adam and Christian Castle of Radically Awesome, do the grunt work such as working the camera and boom mic. At one point, Hogan yelled at Christian when he accidentally dropped the boom mic on him, with Christian profusely apologizing. Meanwhile the Outsiders ripped Adam a new one when he fell asleep and the camera slid down to show their feet.

Grade: A

Jim Duggan def. Buddy Wayne by pinfall after hitting the Three Point Stance.

Grade: D

Mean Gene Okerlund interviews the Disco Inferno, who issues an open challenge to Alex Wright for this Monday night on Nitro. Wright comes out and accepts the challenge.

Grade: C

Mortis and Hugh Morrus defeated Rockin' Rebel and Ray Odyssey when Mortis defeated Ray Odyssey by pinfall with a Flatliner.

Grade: D-

It's time for the Bobby Heenan Show, and his guest this week is WCW World Television Champion, Chris Jericho. Heenan compliments Jericho on being brave enough to tell the nWo to stick it, but warned him that he has possibly made enemies for life. Jericho said he didn't need any help to make it to the top in Mexico, Germany, Japan, Canada and Tennessee, and he sure as heck didn't need help now in WCW. Syxx and V.K. Wallstreet interrupted the proceedings and talked smack to Jericho, with Wallstreet telling him that he has done some legal paperwork and found out that if Jericho retains the TV Title at SuperBrawl, the next contender in line will be none other than Syxx. Jericho tells Syxx he needs to worry about DDP first, and that's when Syxx and Wallstreet attack, beating him down while Heenan makes a beeline for the exit. Diamond Dallas Page runs in and chases them off, but the damage is done.

Grade: B-

The Faces of Fear defeated Joey Maggs and Prince Iaukea when the Barbarian defeated Joey Maggs by pinfall with a Kick of Fear.

To the SuperBrawl Control Center with Mean Gene we go. He runs down the entire card from top to bottom, highlighting a few of the big matches. We also see a pre-recorded promo from Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton of Vicious & Delicious, who talk smack to Ric Flair and Arn Anderson.

Grade: B

Lance Storm defeated Billy Kidman by submission with a Single Leg Crab. During the match we also saw Jacqueline attack Kidman on the outside, and Kevin Sullivan also attack Kidman.

La Parka defeated Dusty Wolfe in 6:07 with a Sky Twister Press.

Grade: D

Mean Gene interviews Brad Armstrong, congratulating him on picking up a huge victory with Alex Wright when all three members of the United Empire run out to attack him. That brings out Steve and Scott Armstrong, who run off Regal, Taylor and Dean.

Grade: D

Grade: D

We go to another nWo style promo, this time with Ted DiBiase. He hypes up the Terror Dome, how the Giant's idea of a massive cage surrounding the ring will blow up in his face and noted how Hogan has always fought back when his back was against the wall.

Grade: B+

Konnan defeated Jacques Rougeau by submission with a Tequila Sunrise.

Grade: C

Overall Show Grade: C+

Sorry for a triple post. The go-home Nitro before SuperBrawl has been run, and I'll be working on writing it up this weekend, hopefully posted by Sunday evening. I think I'm going to change up the presentation for Nitro, possibly leaning toward Final Countdown's way of how he's posted Main Event in his Golden Age dynasty, and save the videos for when I feel they're warranted.

I don't think you need to apologize for a triple post in your own diary. :p

I hardly ever use videos outside of PPV intro music. I briefly toyed with the idea of posting a video of each wrestler's entrance music as they entered the Royal Rumble. Thankfully I didn't attempt that insanity!

I think Beejus strikes the best balance with his use of videos.

Monday Night, Week 2, February 1997

Pyramid Arena

Memphis, Tennessee

Attendance: 20,000 (SELL OUT!)

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Larry Zbyzsko

http://i.imgur.com/U8zsSux.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/YOBAOm4.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/DHhKFSm.jpg

Straight to the Ring:

After the show intro, Tony Schiavone throws it straight to the ring, where Ted DiBiase of the New World Order is already standing. He declares that after the fast one the Giant and WCW pulled on them last week by bringing out Kevin Von Erich, Hollywood Hulk Hogan would protest by not coming out tonight and instead enjoying the night off in the back. That brought out interim commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper, who told Ted that what happened last week was a one night deal as WCW was in Dallas and Kevin Von Erich had been waiting for years to finally get his hands on Hogan and show him what a true icon was like. Piper then proceeded to tell Ted that if Hogan would indeed be competing tonight or else face suspension. Hogan's opponent for tonight? None other than WCW United States Champion Eddy Guerrero! And Piper told Ted to fetch for Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton because they had a match up next against the Road Warriors when the show comes back from commercial

Grade: A

The Road Warriors vs. Vicious & Delicious

Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton more than held their own against Animal and Hawk, showing why they belonged with the big boys of WCW. However, Ric Flair would come on down the aisle and provide a distraction for the referee and Scott Norton while Buff Bagwell was taking care of Hawk. That provided Arn Anderson the opportunity to run in from the crowd, hit the ring and lie in wait as Bagwell was running the ropes to clothesline Hawk. Hawk ducked and Double A nailed Bagwell with a vicious spinebuster, then quickly got out of the ring and left through the crowd. Animal got in and hoisted Bagwell up while Hawk went to the top rope, and they nailed Bagwell with the Doomsday Device to pick up the victory.

Winners: Road Warriors at 10:39

Grade: B

Post Match Shenanigans:

The Outsiders come out with the nWo's resident lackeys, brothers Adam and Christian Castle of Radically Awesome. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash send the youngsters out to try and take out the Road Warriors, and they're more than happy to oblige. They're quickly wishing for a do-over as the Road Warriors decimate them, hitting both of them with the Doomsday Device, sending a clear message to the Outsiders that they need to shine those WCW Tag Team Title belts for SuperBrawl VII.

This was more or less a chance for five of the six competitors in the Cruiserweight Championship ladder match at SuperBrawl to show off their skills as they all took turns tagging in and out, trying to one up each other by showing off some of their impressive maneuvers in their move set. The end came when Dean Malenko forced Joey Maggs to submit with the Texas Cloverleaf. The five cruiserweights all stared each other down, but cooler heads prevailed.

Winners: Dean Malenko, Ultimo Dragon, Rey Mysterio Jr., Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Super Calo at 6:56

My Turn To Talk:

Mean Gene Okerlund is standing by the Nitro stage area as he attempts to interview Debra McMichael and the team of Best of the Best, consisting of Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Jeff Jarrett. They all interrupt each other and argue over who's interview time it is. Debra and Jarrett both agree that Double J will be the new United States Champion, but Mongo said not to bet on it. Mongo tried to talk about how he was going to beat Diamond Dallas Page later on tonight, but Jeff Jarrett kept talking over him to hype up his shot at the US Title this Sunday night.

Grade: C+

We've Gone Soft:

Ted DiBiase and Eric Bischoff are talking things over with the nWo, and nobody is happy about how things have gone for the group lately, especially Hollywood Hogan, who says he's the champion, dammit, and doesn't deserve this kind of third world treatment. V.K. Wallstreet chimes in, noting that sales of nWo T-shirts have declined 5% since nWo Souled Out, and that the problem is apparent: the group, himself included, has gone soft. Everyone is nodding their heads in agreement, and Bischoff rallied the troops by telling them that they were going to do what the New World Order does best.

Scott Steiner w/Madusa vs. Booker T w/Sister Sherri

In a preview of the #1 contenders 4 Corners Tag Match at SuperBrawl VII, Scott Steiner and Booker T competed in singles competition against each other. Things were going well until the Faces of Fear and Public Enemy hit the ring, which prompted Rick Steiner and Stevie Ray to run out. The ref had no choice but to throw the match out as security ran out to try and get everyone separated in this huge schmoz.

No Contest at 7:31

You Started All This!:

Back from commercial, and we find Madusa, Sister Sherri and Jimmy Hart all yelling at each other backstage, blaming each other for what happened moments earlier. Like a bunch of little kids, they take turns telling each other to "Shut up!" "No, YOU shut up!" "No, YOU shut up!" That's when interim commissioner Roddy Piper drops by and yells "WHY DON'T ALL THREE OF YOU SHUT UP?!" He told them that all three were responsible for the chaos that has abounded as of late involving all four teams, while all three plead their case that the Public Enemy should be held liable because they're a couple of thugs trying to stir up trouble. Piper tells them that they are on a one week suspension, meaning they're banned from Saturday Night this Saturday, SuperBrawl this Sunday, and Nitro next Monday!

Juventud Guerrera (subbing for Disco Inferno) w/Sonny Onoo vs. Alex Wright

The announcers let us know that Disco Inferno had apparently hurt his pinkie finger when he accidentally slammed the hotel door into it, so Juventud Guerrera was taking his place. Juvi and Alex Wright had a nice fast paced match up, and Wright seemed to have things going his way until the leader of the United Empire, Lord Steven Regal, came out to scout the match. Wright was distracted, wondering what in the world Regal was doing out by the entrance area, which allowed Juvi to roll him up and grab the tights out of the referee's sight to get the pinfall.

Winner: Juventud Guerrera at 8:43

Video Package, Followed by Mean Gene In-Ring Interview:

We first see a video package for Psicosis, who's on his way to WCW. After the video, we go to Mean Gene Okerlund, who's in the ring and brings out Curt Hennig for an interview. Hennig says he's glad that the match at SuperBrawl is unsanctioned, meaning he can do whatever he wants to "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and that he has been waiting a long time to finally teach the Macho Man a lesson. This prompted Macho Man to come out with his valet, Elizabeth, with Mean Gene promptly reminding the two veterans of WCW's mandate that they were not to lay a hand on each other until the bell rang at SuperBrawl to start their match. Security was sent out as a safety precaution to make sure that neither man laid a hand on each other. Macho Man asks Curt if he's made his mind who's side he's on, and Curt says that he's not on WCW's side, he's not a free agent, but he's not signing with the New World Order either. Curt said that he's now officially under WCW contract, but that he is his own man. Macho Man felt Curt was being less than honest with him, and told him he'll beat the truth out of him if he has to this Sunday.

The Boys Are Back In Town:

The Four Horsemen, satisfied with how the night has gone, are making their way to their limo when they are ambushed by Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton! Woman screams and runs off (presumably to get help), and the nWo members beat down the Horsemen, with Bagwell slamming the limo door into Double A's arm as he screams in agony. The nWo run off as medical personnel and security rush in, but the damage is done.

Diamond Dallas Page w/Kimberly vs. Steve McMichael w/Debra McMichael

While Mongo is not the best worker by any means, DDP managed to carry him to a watchable match that the fans enjoyed. Jeff Jarrett came out with a chair and set it down, wanting to have a ringside seat for the match. Toward the end, Jarrett grabbed Mongo's leg as he was running the ropes, grabbing the former NFL football player's attention and prompting him to exit the ring. The two argued with each other while the referee made his count, and Mongo finally blasted Jarrett with a right hand punch to send him down to the floor. Mongo turned around and walked over to crawl into the ring, but the bell already sounded, and boy was he ever angry when the announcement came down that DDP had won via countout.

Winner: Diamond Dallas Page at 10:06

Grade: B-

Post Match Attack:

While Mongo chased Jarrett to the back, DDP was shrugging his shoulders as if he would have rather won the match in a more decisive manner. V.K. Wallstreet and Syxx hit the ring from the crowd and attack DDP, with Wallstreet clipping DDP in the back of the leg, and Syxx hitting DDP's arm with a lead pipe to soften his arm up and try to neutralize the Diamond Cutter. Wallstreet grabbed Kimberly and forced her to watch as Syxx locked DDP up in the Buzzkill. Chris Jericho ran to the ring to try and fight them off, but the Outsiders followed out after him, beating him down as well. Things were looking bleak until Lex Luger hit the ring with a steel chair, chasing the nWo members out. He threw down the chair in anger, wondering just where Sting was and why would he allow an attack like this to happen. The announcers said that they hoped to get those questions answered this Sunday when Luger appeared on Dusty Rhodes' new talk show, "Dusty's Corral."

Grade: B-

Pre-Recorded Promo:

Kevin Sullivan cut a pre-recorded promo from a dark room, hyping up the I Quit match against Chris Benoit at SuperBrawl. Sullivan said that he would make Benoit's life a living hell come this Sunday, and would become the first man to make the Canadian born wrestler to say those two words he hates so much: "I quit."

Non-Title Match

Hollywood Hulk Hogan w/Ted DiBiase vs. Eddy Guerrero

Eddy Guerrero made the most of this opportunity as he took the fight to the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, with just six days remaining till both of them had their respective title fights at SuperBrawl. Hogan seemed off his game (kayfabe) as he kept looking up in the rafters when Ted DiBiase shouted at him that Sting was watching from above. Eddy Guerrero had Hulk Hogan down and was climbing the top rope. But Hogan, ever the crafty veteran, was holding onto the ref, distracting him from being able to see Ted DiBiase shove Eddy off the top rope and crashing down onto the canvas. Hogan struggled back up to his feet and went to sit over on top of Eddy and punch away at him. Displeased with what happened, the Giant began to make his way down to the ring. Hogan went to run the ropes and hit the Big Leg Drop on Eddy Guerrero and seemed to have the match won until the Giant stepped over the top rope and dropped a leg drop over the back of Hogan's head, prompting the ref to disqualify Eddy Guerrero. As Eddy rolled out, the Giant went to pick Hogan up for a chokeslam, but Ted DiBiase grabbed Hogan and managed to get him out of the ring as the Giant looked on in anger, ready for this Sunday at SuperBrawl for the first ever Terror Dome.

For those wondering what happened with the Disco Inferno situation, it was just me being an idiot and forgetting to book Wright vs. Disco when I had it jotted down in my notepad! Seems like WCW's ever revolving booking changes are creeping their way into this dynasty! I'll be sure to resolve this though because I know all of you are clamoring for a resolution to the Alex Wright/Disco Inferno saga. :p:D

#1 Contenders WCW Tag Team Championship

4 Corners Elimination Match

Harlem Heat vs. Faces of Fear vs. Steiner Brothers vs. Public Enemy

Sister Sherri, Jimmy Hart and Madusa being suspended for a week ensured that there was no outside interference in this four team elimination match for a shot at the WCW Tag Team Titles at Uncensored. The Public Enemy had things going their way for a bit as they worked over Booker T, but he took advantage of the fact that he could tag out to anyone else and tagged in Meng, who went to work on Johnny Grunge. Meng tagged out to Scott Steiner, who threw Grunge into the ropes and tossed him up and over with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Scott tagged out to the Barbarian, who climbed the top rope and knocked Grunge out with a flying clothesline, with Meng running in and knocking Rocco Rock out with a super kick, preventing him from breaking up Barbarian's pinfall over Grunge.

Eliminated: Public Enemy

The Faces of Fear didn't have long to celebrate as the Harlem Heat ran into the ring to attack, and the referee almost lost control as all four men brawled in the ring, with the Steiners playing it smart and standing on the ring apron, watching the whole affair. Stevie Ray took himself and Meng out of the ring and onto the floor with a running clothesline, which left the Booker T in the ring with the Barbarian. Booker ducked a clothesline, then knocked Barbarian out with a jumping roundhouse kick and got the pinfall to put him away.

Eliminated: Faces of Fear

After the Faces of Fear, Stevie Ray recovered from the earlier clothesline while Rick Steiner got into the ring to do battle with Booker T as the match came down to the Steiners and Harlem Heat. The two teams battled back and forth, tagging in and out. However, Harlem Heat took control and looked to have things going their way. But Scott Steiner managed to tag out to Rick Steiner, who took down both Stevie Ray and Booker T with Steiner Lines and belly to belly suplexes. Rick Steiner then picked up Stevie Ray, threw him into the ropes and took him up and over with a thunderous powerslam for the victory.

Eliminated: Harlem Heat

V.K. Wallstreet was seen walking down the hall until he was stopped by interim commissioner Rowdy Roddy Piper. Piper questioned Wallstreet about what he was up to, and Wallstreet said that he was going to ringside to observe the upcoming Triangle Match for the WCW World Television Championship. Interim Commissioner Piper told Wallstreet that under no circumstances was he going out to ringside, and that if he or anyone in the nWo interfered, they would be fired. Wallstreet was furious, saying it wasn't fair that they were being discriminated like this and that he would look into taking legal action against Piper. Piper said he didn't have a leg to stand on because the same stipulation of interfere and you're fired applied to the Armstrongs and United Empire. Knowing that Piper had him beat in this particular battle, Wallstreet shook his head and walked back towards the nWo locker room.

While Chris Jericho didn't have to worry about having eyes in the back of his head for possible interference from the nWo, United Empire or the Armstrongs, he still had a tough match taking on two former WCW TV Champions in Lord Steven Regal and Bobby Eaton, both of whom wanted to regain the title; Eaton especially since he hadn't held singles gold for quite some time (several years in fact). At one point, Regal and Jericho blistered each other's chests with hard knife edge chops. Eaton had things going his way toward the end as he clotheslined Regal over the top rope, but he turned around and right into an enziguri from Jericho. Jericho then ran to the ropes, sprung off of the middle rope and landed a picture perfect Lionsault on Eaton for the victory.

Jeff Jarrett would stop at nothing to win his first championship in WCW, even if it meant Debra getting involved when she slapped Eddy Guerrero in the face while he was down draped over the middle rope while Jarrett had the ref distracted. Eddy refused to give up, though, and kept fighting back, giving Jarrett a helluva fight. It looked like Jarrett had the match well in hand until Steve "Mongo" McMichael made his way down to the ring to talk to Debra, chastising her for interfering in the match earlier and for trying to help Jarrett win the US Title instead of making him win it on his own. Jarrett got distracted and started arguing with Mongo, which was all Eddy Guerrero needed to roll up Jarrett and get the victory out of nowhere. Jarrett couldn't believe what had just happened, and Mongo was laughing at him as he made his way to the back.

Chris Benoit w/Woman vs. Kevin Sullivan w/Jacqueline

http://i.imgur.com/6TLSPmn.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/s8d6dAe.jpg VS. http://i.imgur.com/CaplswY.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/VWjPdBH.jpg

This feud had been going on for quite some time, and WCW officials hoped this I Quit Match would finally put an end to it once and for all. Kevin Sullivan pulled out every trick in the book to try and make Chris Benoit say the words "I quit," but Benoit refused. Even when he was down on the floor outside the ring and Jacqueline squeezed his family jewels as hard as she could, he wouldn't say those words. Jacqueline's interference prompted Woman to run over and tackle her, punching away at her. Sullivan tried to grab a hold of Woman, but she turned around and slapped him as hard as she could. Even though there were no disqualifications in this match, the referee felt it was in his best judgment to eject both Woman and Jacqueline from ringside, sending them to the back.

Sullivan and Benoit continued their battle back and forth all over ringside. Sullivan picked up Benoit and dropped him down ribs first on the security railing, then picked up the ring bell and drove it into Benoit's ribs as he holding his ribs while lying on the floor. Even though Sullivan seemed to have the upper hand, Benoit kept fighting back, doing anything he could to try and make Sullivan say those two words. Benoit went to hit Sullivan with a running clothesline, but Sullivan pulled the ref out in front of him, causing Benoit to knock him out. Sullivan took back control of the match, and that's when his protege, Lance Storm, came down to the ring with a wrench. Sullivan held Benoit in position for Storm to hit him in the shoulder with the wrench, and sensing that Benoit was easy pickings, Storm turned around momentarily to taunt the crowd. He turned back to go for the finishing blow, but Benoit quickly reversed Sullivan, causing Storm to accidentally hit Sullivan in the shoulder with the wrench. Benoit knocked Storm out with a headbutt, sending him rolling out of the ring. Benoit picked up the wrench and drove it into Sullivan's shoulder once more, then locked him in the Crippler Crossface as the referee got back to his senses. He picked up the mic and put it in Sullivan's face, and Sullivan had no choice but to scream "I QUIT! I QUIT! I QUIT!" as Benoit pulled back as hard as he could on the Crossface.

Winner in 11:42 by Sullivan quitting with the Crippler Crossface: Chris Benoit

Kimberly Page came down to the ring, and Alex Wright noted that DDP gave him permission to recruit Kimberly to be his dance partner. It was time for the dance contest, and Disco Inferno and Amy Lee (referred to by the announcers as Disco's broad) were up first. Disco did his best exaggerated disco dancing, while Disco's broad put on the most disgusting display of "dancing" possible. After that, it was time for Alex Wright and Kimberly Page to put on a dance number. They looked like they had plenty of practice as they had great chemistry putting on their dance number. It was now time for the fans to decide who would win. Mean Gene asked them what they thought of Disco Inferno and his broad, and the fans booed them out of the building. Mean Gene then asked them what they thought of Alex Wright and Kimberly Page, and the fans cheered them, declaring them the winners. They smiled and waved "bye" to Disco and his broad as they left the ring while Disco threw a temper tantrum while his broad had her hands on her hips. She was mad as hell about not winning and slapped Disco so hard that it knocked him down.

Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton were out to prove they could hang with the big boys of WCW as they took on Ric Flair and Arn Anderson of the Four Horsemen. Flair and Double A weren't above bending the rules, while Vicious & Delicious practically threw the rulebook out as Radically Awesome came back out, this time to try and interfere in the match. While the ref was distracted sending Radically Awesome to the back, Buff Bagwell was working over Ric Flair while Scott Norton retrieved a steel chair and was about to use it on Arn Anderson. That's when the newest Horseman, Rob Van Dam, came in through the crowd, rolled into the ring and smashed the chair into Norton's face with his patented Van Daminator. He quickly got out of the ring as Double A went over and made the cover on Norton while the ref got back into the ring and made the three count.

While the crowd wasn't insane the entire match, they certainly appreciated the efforts of all six men who pulled out all the stops to try and win the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. Sonny Onoo tried to help Juventud Guerrera win the title at one point when he got underneath Juvi on the ladder to try and give him an unfair advantage with some added push. But Ultimo Dragon would have none of it as he grabbed Onoo and tossed him out of the ring, then brought Juvi down off the ladder. Chavo Guerrero had climbed to the top of the ladder at one point and looked to have the title within his grasp, but Super Calo pushed the ladder over, sending Chavo on his way to a crazy bump as he went sailing all the way outside the ring and crashing onto Ultimo Dragon, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Juventud Guerrera. Super Calo began to climb the ladder, but Dean Malenko got up behind him and brought him down with a high angle suplex off the ladder. After almost twenty minutes of the cruiserweights using ladders in creative ways and flying all over the place, it was the mat technician Dean Malenko who climbed the ladder and retrieved the belt.

It was time for the premiere edition of Dusty Rhodes' new talk segment, Dusty's Corral, with the setup stationed about ten feet away from the entrance area. Dusty brought out Lex Luger, who said he and every WCW fan, especially the little Stingers, were tired of Sting remaining silent and were ready to finally hear whatever it is he had to say.

Eric Bischoff came down to the set to say that Sting has made his decision and would be coming out to talk about how he had finally joined the New World Order. Dusty and Lex both called Eric a liar, but Eric insisted he was telling the truth.

Sting repelled from the rafters to make his appearance. Everyone turned their attention to him, with Eric Bischoff grinning from ear to ear. Sting grinned at him as well, only to strike him in the midsection with his baseball bat. With Eric doubled over, Sting struck him over the back with his baseball bat, and stomped down on him to make sure he stayed down. Dusty Rhodes and Lex Luger both begged Sting to say something, anything. But Sting simply put his harness back on and went back up into the rafters.

It wasn't a technical masterpiece by any means. In fact, there was very little resemblance to actual wrestling, but it was a brawl and the fans were into it because of who all was involved. The Road Warriors had the early advantage until Hawk, as usual, mistimed his running shoulder block in the corner as Scott Hall got out of the way, causing Hawk to ram his shoulder into the post while Hall tagged out to Kevin Nash. They worked over Hawk until he was finally able to tag out to Animal, who cleaned house and proceeded to beat up on Hall and Nash. Sensing they were about to lose the titles, Scott Hall hit Animal with a low blow for a disqualification, and he and Nash quickly got out of the ring, got their tag titles and went to the back as Animal nursed his groin, with Hawk yelling at the Outsiders to get back in the ring.

Curt Hennig was making his way to the ring when Macho Man jumped him from behind, unofficially starting the match as they fought all the way down to the ring, with Elizabeth keeping her distance for obvious reasons. Once they got into the ring, the ref called for the bell and the match was "officially" underway. The fight continued as they brawled rather than worrying about putting a wrestling hold on each other. In fact, Heenan quipped that the first man to do an actual wrestling move in this match just might win. Macho Man and Curt Hennig were fighting in the corner when the ref tried to get them separated. Macho Man turned around and shoved the ref down, with Curt Hennig grabbing him and reversing, punching away at Macho Man as he was now in the corner. The ref was back up and tried to get them separated, but this time Curt Hennig shoved him down. The ref finally had no choice but to ring the bell as officials ran down to try and get Macho Man and Curt Hennig separated.

Mean Gene Okerlund interviewed Hollywood Hulk Hogan backstage and asked him if there was any trepidation before going into this huge Terror Dome that would surround the ring with a roof on top of it. Hogan said that the odds have always been against him, and every single time he has stepped up and overcome those odds, and tonight would be no different. Mean Gene reiterated how dangerous the Terror Dome was, saying this was unlike any cage match Hogan had been in before. But Hogan said he was ready for that "big, nasty stinkin' Giant!"

The Terror Dome

Hollywood Hogan (Champion) w/Ted DiBiase vs. The Giant

http://i.imgur.com/LWodhHT.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/bzeJl1F.jpg VS. http://i.imgur.com/gQwZ0O5.jpg

The crowd was in awe as the Terror Dome was lowered, as it was unlike any cage they had ever seen. It surrounded the entire ring, meaning you could fight outside the ring while still being in the cage. It also had a roof on top of it, so it was obvious the idea behind the Terror Dome was to prevent anyone from coming in, and to prevent the combatants from escaping. The Giant was out first, and then it was time for the champion to come out.

Hollywood Hogan came out with Ted DiBiase, playing air guitar on the WCW World Title defaced with the nWo letters on it like only Hogan can. Hogan entered the Terror Dome, handing the belt over to the ref before tearing off his shirt. Ted DiBiase was standing in his corner when the ref told him he had to exit the Terror Dome and watch from the outside. DiBiase and Hogan were both irate as the Giant grinned and waved DiBiase bye. Hogan turned around, looked at the Giant, and took a big gulp before deciding to lock up with him. That was a mistake as the Giant easily threw him into the corner. While some could say the match was bowling shoe ugly, it was a good kind of bowling shoe ugly as the two took advantage of there being no rules, cutting each other open by raking each other into the mesh of the cage.

Hogan at one point took off his weight lifting belt and whipped the Giant with it, then took the end of the buckle and dug it into the Giant's forehead, cutting him open even worse. But the Giant would eventually answer with a steel chair to the Hulkster's back. At one point, Hogan tried to escape, shouting at DiBiase to get the keys out. The announce team were trying to figure out how DiBiase could have gotten the keys to the Terror Dome, but then remembered how much money he had and figured that he must have bribed the person with the keys to the Terror Dome. The Giant, however, grabbed Hogan, picked him up and chokeslammed him on the floor as DiBiase had just unlocked the door. The Giant exited the Terror Dome and stared down DiBiase, who tripped and fell to the floor as he tried to back away, begging the Giant to have mercy on him. As the Giant had Ted DiBiase in between a rock and a hard place, a commotion in the crowd could be heard as someone unfamiliar to the audience made his way down the aisle.

The announcers noted the size of this mystery man, dressed in jeans and a black WCW Monday Nitro T-shirt. He and the Giant stared each other down, and while the Giant was bigger than him, he couldn't help but stare in awe, wondering what on earth this man was doing here. The announcers had no idea who he was, nor did they know what business he had being here. Just as they say that, the man charged at the Giant and speared him through the door of the Terror Dome! The announcers couldn't believe what they just saw as Hogan and DiBiase grinned and welcomed the mystery man with open arms. Hogan then tore off his shirt, revealing an nWo T-shirt underneath. The ref was trying to figure out what was going on, but there was nothing he could do since there were no disqualifications. They rolled the Giant into the ring, and that's when this mystery man picked him up and speared him once again. Hogan then ran the ropes and hit the Big Leg Drop to get the tainted victory.
