Knowyourememy do not forget to pick your prize. BHK1978 is going the heavyweight title rout, so you get to pick between the tag team or Al Madril storyline.

I'm sorry, I missed the post with the information. I'd like to take the Tag Team Prize.

Art Barr and Television Champion Rick Steiner will team as "Dog-Faced Love Machine". Their finisher, a tandem springboard drop kick, is called "Puppy Power".

Alright Olympia Al Madril is all yours for right now.

somehow we all missed it, but good see Portland is still going strong.

Bad News for Bad News being injured for 6 months - at least Grappler and Rose can talk about how they run him out of the business every week (I think there's a way to include the injured the guy in some angles without him having to actually be there)

Always tough when you bring in a star like Flair since they will basically refuse to do anything to put your talent over (unlike the old days when the NWA champ would do everything in his power to make the local guy look like a million bucks). Sometimes they make good mystery partners and can help elevate a young up and comer who might otherwise never get a win. But either way, having Flair on the show is a good boost

Going with Steiner, Kiwis, and Scott Hall to win the battle royal (I'll assume Rose does something that causes Snuka to get eliminated and add heat to their feud).

“Jimmy Snuka, look what you did to me.”

“Doctors say you broke twelve ribs, I’m lucky to be alive they say. It is because of my incredible ability to withstand pain I’m even standing here right now. You and me are not done yet. I will get my revenge, which is why on July 16th we will meet again inside another cage. Oh but don’t think a simple pinfall will do the trick in this match, as the only way you leave that cage is tell the crowd that you quit. But I only stop until you kneel in the middle of that ring and beg me to stop.”

DeBeers, Borne and The Grappler start laughing as they leave the crow’s nest.

That was a huge win for the Gator Man. I am surprised that you are able to push him because I did not think his popularity would be high enough to merit a push.

Also, Vinnie Valentino just looks like a jobber to me. I have heard of most of the guys in this diary but I have never heard of him.

Vinnie Valentino was a jobber is most promotion he happen to be part of in the 80's. He had a couple pushes in the central states and Toronto but nothing all that great. He is just a solid midcarder that can beat on the lower card wrestlers when needed but will probably never beat anyone above him. Scott Hall is main event level over in the northwest which shocked me when I was looking for some main event faces. Must be the AWA thing, as AWA and Portland wrestling did share many wrestlers during the 80's.

I am surprised that Scott would have such high popularity so early on in his career. I guess you are right the AWA must have helped him out. All the time I was thinking he was a midcard/lower midcard guy in this diary which is why I hardly ever pick him to win.

Scott Hall and Jimmy Snuka try to hold of the Army but they could not hold out 4 on 2 for very long. Col. DeBeers pulls up the mat on the outside of the ring, while The Grappler brings over the beaten down Hall to the concrete floor and looks to be going for a piledriver. All of a sudden a mask man comes running to the ring and takes down both DeBeers and The Grappler. Snuka is able to fight off Rose and Borne. The Army retreat to the back, as Hall, Snuka and the mystery wrestler stand victories in the ring.

I have no problem with you having as many DQ or Count-Outs as you want. I think it is helps add to the overall story and gives you a reason to have someone like Scott get a rematch.

Don Owen comes to the ring and is accompanied by a clown.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming out tonight and those watching from home. After last week’s events at the hands of Al Madril, tonight I have hired a clown to entertain all of you in-between the matches. I would like to introduce Doink the Clown.” Doink the clown produces a balloon dog from a bag he is holding. He walks up the nearest kid in the front row and hands it to him. Has the kid raise the balloon above his head to show the crowd, the clown pops the balloon. Next he starts spraying the crowd with a water gun. Don Owen is shocked by the actions of this clown.

This clown is a friend of mine and he enjoyed your ice cream just as much as I did last week. Also I would like to introduce the very lovable Beetlejuice to this little party.” Beetlejuice starts throwing fake snakes into the crowd. “Now, Mr. Don Owen, started this war and I have brought a few friends of mine to end this old man’s crazy notions that you kids are so special.” Madril, Doink, Rick Steiner and Beetlejuice leave the ring.

Post Show Notes:

Jack Victory out six months with a torn ACL. The curse of the PNW strikes again.

Doink the Clown is Matt Borne, so he will be doing double duty for the foreseeable future. Rick Steiner is moving into his dog face gremlin attitude gimmick, while Art Barr became Beetlejuice. They will still keep their tag team names and with Sting being part of the Madril storyline he works very well in getting them into the tag team picture at this time. Plus Al Madril and Rick Steiner must of the same grooming advisor with those staches.

I have a wrestler coming in to replace Jack Victory, so don’t expect Jonathan Boyd to be without a partner for very long.

I loved the opening segment with Doink and Beetlejuice being added to the mix.

I also wanted to add, looking at your updated roster I did not realize how many people are in the company that are not featured on a regular basis.

You can thank Olympia for adding Doink into the mix, as that was his idea. Makes me really wish it was mine as it was a perfect idea.

I like having big rosters and as I'm a regional promotion it does not hurt me. Plus the ones that are not regular, are mostly lower midcard guys and wrestlers that have high popularity outside of the northwest but low in the northwest. So I have been using the Friday tour show to get those wrestlers some work and get them some popularity in the northwest. Another reason is that Saturday is just booked with promotions so many can't wrestle on Saturday as I'm their second choice.

(liked the other 2 suggested names too. I'm sure you will find ways to use them) thought you did fabulous job running with the ideas I gave you for Madril. He's up on the kids 2 weeks in a row -- have to think Don Owen and Sting will have something to even the score in the near future.

Mr. Olympia vs. Sting vs. Rick Steiner {NWA Pacific Northwest Television Championship Bout}

This is the battle of the Varsity Club well if Mr. Olympia was not in the match it would be...

Ron Bass vs. Art Crews

Rex King & Scott Steiner vs. The Dominators w/ Dutch Savage

Col. DeBeers vs. Bill Dundee

Scott Hall vs. The Grappler {NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Championship Bout}

Bonus Question: Who will take the fall in the three-way match? Sting

On a side note, did they do Triple Threat Matches back then? The first time I recall seeing them was in ECW.

<p>Jim Cornette says he invented it but three matches have been around since the 70's atleast. It mostly happened in Mexico but in the United States NWA promotions would call it a three way dance. The first one I have seen looking on the internet was a three way dance for the number 1 contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1971 for the NWA Western States promotion. AWA had a three way dance in the late 80's. It look to be a rare event, like many during this time in wrestling, savings those big matches for when it counted, not every week like now.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="BHK1978" data-cite="BHK1978" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="39640" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> On a side note, did they do Triple Threat Matches back then? <p>first off let me say, this is one of the few diaries where the mid-card action is just as if not more interesting than the main event. I knew little and did not care at all about Al Madril - just another nobody in the world of big names. However, what you have done with him has made him interesting and the storyline compelling. KUDOS!!!! Buddy Rose and Jimmy Snuka were actually anti-climatic on the last card and that's saying a lot. I can bet some of the adult males in the audience are actually cheering for them as the cool heels (but the parents and kids squealing for the faces will drown them out for the most part</p><p> </p><p>

In real life, Beatlejuice got his big break thanks to Roddy Piper giving him the rub. Here it is Doink (Borne) but I think the result could be the same and he will rise to the top quicker than just trying on his own. Doink and Juice should get a few tag team matches along the way.</p><p> </p><p>

Portland Wrestling</p><p>

<strong>Mr. Olympia</strong> vs. Sting vs. Rick Steiner {NWA Pacific Northwest Television Championship Bout}</p><p>

in a sneaky way to bring the TV title into the no kids allowed story, Sting pulls Olympia on top of him to crown a new champ. I can see Steiner leaving with the belt thanks to interference from NC-17, but think the title change could provide more fun to a most fun storyline</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ron Bass</strong> vs. Art Crews</p><p>

<strong>S</strong>am <strong>O</strong>liver <strong>B</strong>ass gets the win here</p><p> </p><p>

Rex King & Scott Steiner vs. <strong>The Dominators</strong> w/ Dutch Savage</p><p> </p><p>

Col. DeBeers vs. <strong>Bill Dundee</strong> </p><p>

The little Aussie needs the win since he has a title shot coming up</p><p> </p><p>

Scott Hall vs. <strong>The Grappler</strong> {NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Championship Bout}</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Question: Who will take the fall in the three-way match? Sting</p><p>

I was going to pick Sting as the winner except he already has the tag titles. Can see Dog Faced- Love Machine team going after those belts after the way Sting "cheated" him out of the TV title (a month of singles and 6-man matches leading to the month end show)</p><p> </p><p>

and yes, 3 way matches have been around for quite some time.</p><p>

When I did them in my old Mid-South diary, I created a more local themed name (3-way rodeo). Maybe you can do the same here to add your personal touch and some local flavor.</p>
