reDragon

Goto/Strong/Nakajima

Kota Ibushi

Shibata - I can only assume that this will be the end of Joe's contract, so he goes back to the States with a loss.

Kushida

Bullet Club - Honmamania goes back down a notch.

Kojima/Tenzan/Nagata/??? - Always bet on question mark. The show is so packed, I have no idea who could be left for this though. I guess I'll go with Alberto. Only since so many other gaijin are still on this show, so I assume he is as well.

CHAOS - Makin' it Rain.

AJ Styles - Along with the Biz winning the eight man, this will put them right back in the forefront of NJPW as it's dominant stable.

Tag Team Match

reDRagon vs. Yohei Komatsu & U-T

A bit of a foregone conclusion with reDRagon going to Osaka in two weeks time to challenge Akira Tozawa & Shingo Takagi for the IWGP Junior Tag Team Championships. But, the young lions show their heart and keep this one as competitive for as long as they can. Unfortunately, they're just delaying the inevitable. O'Reilly and Fish show their class and leave Komatsu "Chasing The Dragon".

Six Man Tag Team Match

Hirooki Goto, Roderick Strong & Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Manabu Nakanishi, Kazushi Sakuraba & Sho Tanaka

A super one-sided affair on paper but a really great match as Sakuraba and young lion Sho Tanaka went into business for themselves and ensured that they will never be underestimated ever again. Whereas Saku is the adept submission specialist, Tanaka is starting to become quite the bulky hard-hitter, using his New Japan Dojo Special™ (Half Crab) with power and torque more than excellent execution. Even though Goto's team find themselves being beaten from pillar to post for a large portion of the match, their experience shines through once they isolate the 49-year old Nakanishi and proceedings soon fall apart for Saku's team. With both his partners subdued, Sho Tanaka tries to fight Goto on his lonesome. It was a fight that was only going one way and Tanaka sadly succumbs to his opponent's Shouten Kai finisher.

Special G1 Climax Prologue Match

Kota Ibushi vs. Karl Anderson

Leave it to these two to tear the house down after the tournament has finished... Suddenly, Anderson was hungry, looking to prove his credentials with titles will still to be defended between now and the Dome. Ibushi was soon game to do the same. For all of Anderson's tact in restricting Ibushi from going aerial, the "Golden Star" switched gears and hit Anderson with a flurry of hand slaps and kicks. "Machine Gun" tried the Gun Stun but Ibushi blocked it and countered with a Reverse Rana. Anderson attempted a Powerbomb but found that countered with a Hurricanrana before a Sit-Out Powerbomb and Phoenix Splash left Kota Ibushi celebrating a victory.

Special G1 Climax Prologue Match

Samoa Joe vs. Katsuyori Shibata

An absolute slug fest. Open hand slaps, knife edge chops, thigh kicks, chest kicks, head kicks, back kicks and a few choke holds, slams and throws mixed in between. This was not about class or technique or strategy: just heart and spirit. One man was going to fall to the canvas and be unable to take any more punishment. And that man turned out to be Samoa Joe, who was left dazed after Shibata's Sleeper Hold. One Penalty Kick later and Joe was in a sound slumber.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship

KUSHIDA © vs. TAKA Michinoku

This match is happening because an injury to Kenny Omega meant that he couldn't defend his title against TAKA at Wrestling Dontaku. As such, this is the title match that Michinoku was owed. He made the best of it, using his superior experience to ground the faster and more explosive defending Champion. In between simple holds, TAKA bended the rules, including an eye rake that cut short KUSHIDA's second effort. But KUSHI fought back when he rolled through a Crossface attempt. Jumping to his feet, KUSHIDA connected flush with a Handspring Back Elbow.

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/NewRoster/taichi75.jpghttp://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/NewRoster/eldesperado75.jpg

That was when Taichi and El Desperado hit the ring, jumping the champion before stomping a mudhole into him! Thankfully, two men were on hand to stop this facade...

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/NewRoster/shelley75.jpghttp://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/NewRoster/nakajima75.jpg

Alex Shelley and Katsuhiko Nakajima charged down, sweeping Taichi and Desperado away from the ring. The four fought to the back as the singles match now continued as planned.

TAKA was still in control and seemed to be posturing as though he thought he was about to put KUSHIDA away. But the defending Champion slipped out the back door of a Michinoku Driver and rebounded off the ropes before slapping on a headscissors and transitioning into the Hoverboard Lock! Michinoku dropped to one knee and eventually all the way down to his stomach on the canvas as KUSHIDA cranked up the pressure. With the Kimura firmly applied on his left arm, Michinoku submitted the match.

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/NewRoster/kushida.jpg

Victory for the "Time Splitter" and it tasted sweet. But celebrations were cut short...

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/NewRoster/nakajima.jpg

Because Nakajima was back and not to save the day. No, he was here to lay down a challenge. He confronted KUSHIDA and told him loud and clear that he was next in line. He's coming for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship next.

Eight Man Tag Team Match

Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma, BUSHI & Mascara Dorada vs. Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale, Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks)

Hot off the heels of beating Tanahashi and finally ending his G1 winless streak, Honma was simply backing up Makabe here. With Fale having pinned the IWGP Tag Team Champion already, victory here would all but ensure a title shot. The fan favourite quartet was adamant that they weren't going to let the Bullet Club cut off the ring and all four of them were spirited in their efforts to put their opponents on the back foot. This all came to a screeching halt when Honma missed a Kokeshi :( allowing Kenny Omega to drag him to a neutral corner.

Despite being worked over, Honma made a comeback, rebounding off the ropes into a Kamikaze Kokeshi that allowed him to make the hot tag to Dorada. The masked man flew around the ring with ease, showing great balance as he walked along the top rope to drop a Moonsault on Nick Jackson hesitating in the ring. All hell broke loose soon after. Matt Jackson gave Dorada a Superkick just to get a Hurricanrana from BUSHI. BUSHI was given a comical Hadouken from Omega, who was given a receipt when Makabe King Kong Lariato'd him into next week. The Bucks gave Makabe a Double Superkick with Fale following it up with a Spear. BUSHI valiantly tagged himself in off Dorada, attempting a Springboard Crossbody just to get Double Superkicked in mid air! The luchador was then mercifully put down after a devastating big Bad Luck Fall.

Eight Man Tag Team Match

Suzuki-gun (Tetsuya Naito, Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr.) vs. Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Yuji Nagata & Alberto El Patron

"Mexico's Greatest Export" alongside the grumpiest of the grumpy 3rd generation veterans? Oh boy. The brawl ensues as Suzuki-gun ambushes their opponents at the bell. Action spills outside. Naito grabs a steel chair and smashes Tenzan on the back with it. On the opposite side of the ring, Kojima sends Suzuki back first into the guardrail. Naito gets in the ring and Kojima joins him. Staredown! Naito mouths something and provokes Kojima to shove him. So the Champ spits in his face! Kojima explodes but Naito ducks a right hand and Killer Elite Squad roll back in the ring to ambush and promptly double team the #1 Contender. A gleeful Naito retreats to the apron as Suzuki-gun retain control.

Kojima is the man being isolated with Suzuki thoroughly enjoying inflicting punishment on the man that pinned both him and Naito during the G1 Climax. Suzuki extends his right hand and stomps on it, lifting his head up by his hair so he can stick his tongue out and taunt him. Naito tags in but is a little casual, missing a Running Elbow Smash as Kojima gives him a Cozy Cutter! And makes the hot tag! El Patron comes in and runs wild, sending Naito to the outside with a clothesline before an Enzuigiri stuns Smith Jr. enough for the Mexican to lock on a Cross Armbreaker! Archer breaks it up. But as the "American Psycho" attempts a Chokeslam, El Patron counters it and puts Smith Jr's partner in a Cross Armbreaker! Suzuki comes in and instead of using a simple stomp to break the lock, he locks El Patron in a headscissors, forcing him to break the hold so he can prevent himself from being choked out by Suzuki's legs.

After a rope break, El Patron and Suzuki stumble to the floor where the submission exchanges continue. Amidst the chaos breaking out, Kojima and Lance Archer are left alone in the ring. Archer attempts a Full Nelson Slam but Kojima reverses it with a Cozy Cutter! Archer kicks out at two but is on wobbly legs as he stands, with Kojima putting him down with a Cozy Lariat! With the #1 Contender making the pin, Naito can be seen desperately trying to escape Tenzan's clutches but it's no good and Kojima picks up another pin on Suzuki-gun.

Eight Man Tag Team Match

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Naomichi Marufuji, Captain New Japan & Watanabe vs. CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano & YOSHI-HASHI)

Just like the previous match, there's a lot of narratives at work here. Okada and Tanahashi start out, their fast-paced chain wrestling being nothing the audience hasn't seen before. Not that that matters, they're still wowed. Watanabe and YOSHI-HASHI pick up where they left off last time, this time with the "Loose Explosion" winning the exchange with his unique left arm Lariat. Yano tries rolling up Tanahashi again! But the "Once In A Century Talent" kicks out and then goes to town on the "Sublime Master Thief" with nasty, bitter strikes. Captain New Japan finds himself trying to out-wrestle Okada. Predictably, that exchange ends with Okada making him look a fool after a Reverse Neckbreaker. Ishii tries to make Captain look a fool too but the "Superhero" ducks a Lariat and puts him down with a spirited Shoulder Charge that Henry Cavill himself would have been proud of!

The proceeding hot tag brings in Marufuji, but Okada doesn't get a chance to mix it up with that "geek". Instead, "The Rainmaker" is kept at bay by Tanahashi as the ex-NOAH man picks up the pinfall, using his Bicycle High Knee to stun YOSHI-HASHI before putting him down with a Shiranui.

But this one isn't quite done yet! Marufuji celebrates, just to be confronted head on by Okada! Okada raises his IWGP Intercontinental Championship, almost as though he's the one issuing the challenge.

On the opposite side of the ring, Yano is pointing and laughing at a super serious Tanahashi. Tana gets in his face but Yano still doesn't take him very seriously.

And... wait, what? Captain New Japan is in Ishii's face, indictating that he wants a shot at the NEVER Openweight Championship! Marufuji, Okada, Watanabe, YOSHI-HASHI, Tanahashi and Yano all turn around as this confrontation is getting increasingly heated. Captain shoves Ishii and the "Stone Pitbull" retaliates but the two groups seperate the two with CHAOS leaving the fan favourites to continue celebrating their victory.

G1 Climax 25 Final

AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Even with niggling injuries and hurt bodies, this was not the time to dial down. Nakamura started out the brighter of the two, asserting his leverage and strength advantage, backing Styles to the ropes in a tie-up before sliding his head down the chest of the 'Phenomenal One'. Styles took exception to that...

AJ was frustrated and rushed in, just to get taken down to the mat in a side headlock as Nakamura looked to ground him and tire him out. Nak then turned to his signature knee strikes, digging them deep into the abdomen. Styles absorbed punishment but summoned a great second effort, a dropkick to the knee cutting Nakamura off before he soared through the sky with a Springboard Forearm Smash. Styles focused his assault on the legs, not just softening up Nakamura for the Calf Killer but also trying to nullify the destructiveness of Nakamura's offence once the match began to wear on. A momentary lapse in concentration gave Nakamura some respite, Styles letting the "King Of Strong Style" back to his feet and paying dearly when Nakamura ducked a Spinning Backfist and sent Styles over with the Inverted Powerslam. Nakamura was getting a second wind and took full advantage, a Single Leg Dropkick from the second rope giving him a close near fall. Shinsuke felt the effect of the move too, clutching his right leg after a less than comfortable landing. Nakamura looked for a suplex but Styles blocked it, reeling backwards before suplexing Nakamura back first into the turnbuckle padding! The back then became the focus with Styles busting out whatever this is...

Making the cover, AJ was just a half a second away from winning when Nakamura popped his shoulder up with authority. It was time for a Styles Clash with the man himself signalling that this one was over. But Nakamura blocked the move, leaning down with all his body weight before summoning the strength deep down to flip Styles over his head with a High Back Body Drop. BOMA YE!

http://i.imgur.com/7KsT8WR.gif

But Styles had it scouted! Knee to the face leaves Nak flat on his back. "The Phenomenal One" covers again but Nakamura still has the wherewithal to kick out at 2. Surely now, it's Styles Clash time. But for a second time, Nakamura uses his weight and height advantage to block the move. Styles clubs him on the back with a forearm and charges the ropes. He goes for a Lariat but...

Nakamura summons a counter. Knee to the back leaves Styles writhing in pain. Nakamura follows it up too, a Backstabber putting AJ Styles in more discomfort. But AJ is reslient, popping his shoulder up when Nakamura makes the cover. But now it's BOMA YE! time... Nakamura charges in but Styles sweeps out the right leg and in one swift motion he locks on the Calf Killer!!! Shinsuke isn't exactly in the middle of the ring though and his superior leverage comes into play. Styles increases the pressure but can do nothing to stop Nakamura slithering across the canvas, his outstretched left arm grasping the bottom rope.

Angered, Styles tries a salvo of strikes but Nakamura catches a right hand and turns it into a Cross Armbreaker! Styles swings his legs and his free left arm, trying to feel his way to the ropes. What looked like a desperate situation for Styles soons becomes his brightest moment in the match when he summons the power and strength to turn over and lift Nakamura off the canvas...

http://i.imgur.com/rroljwA.gif

And spike him with the Styles Clash!!! Styles makes the pin but oh my god Nakamura kicks out!!!

Styles is absolutely beside himself. He looks at Red Shoes Unno, he looks to the crowd, he pulls his own hair and looks at Nakamura as though he's some kind of mythical creature. The hesitation is costly, he brings Nakamura back to his feet by his hair but Shinsuke has had valuable time to recover and hoists Styles onto his shoulders. From the Fireman's Carry position to a sitout slam, it's the "Landslide"! Nakamura only uses it rarely but tonight, it still isn't enough.

Styles gets to one knee, BOMA YE! to the back of the head!!! Styles falls to the canvas face first. Nakamura collapses on top of his opponent, barely mustering enough energy to turn him over as referee Red Shoes Unno counts the one, the two and the very well recieved three.

The match grade made this a tribute to their Wrestle Kingdom match.

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/50pxnjpw.png

Through it all, Shinsuke Nakamura had avenged losing last year's final. He had avenged losing his IWGP Intercontinental Championship to Kazuchika Okada and now, finally, he will have a shot at the big one. January 4th, 2016 - a date for the diaries, Shinsuke Nakamura will be fighting the IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

As confetti fell and "Subconscious" blared throughout the Seibu Dome, Shinsuke Nakamura was handed the trophy and dropped to his knees. Completely overcome with emotion, Shinsuke did not try to hold the tears back. He took a microphone and thanked everybody for their support and wondered if he could have done it without them. He wanted this more than anybody else. Tonight, he wanted it more than AJ Styles. Nak confesses that there were times when he was close to giving it up. Defeat to Makabe could have been costly. He had Ishii to thank that it wasn't.

But even though he is the winner of G1 Climax 25 (loud cheer for that statement), he knows the work is still far from over. Nak tells Naito that he's coming for him and asks the fans: do they think he will take the title from him? Is he the next IWGP Heavyweight Champion?

"YeaOH!!!"

Which means the final G1 Climax 25 Predictions Scoresheet looks a little like this...

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q685/RynWlsn/NJPW%202015/predictions-final.jpg

I love this part...

We have 9 predictors that didn't miss a single show, a further 3 missing just a single show.

Congratulations mainly go to Wolfman84 and Vince123 though, both averaging over 7/10 across the whole tournament!

With scores of 85 each, they both got just 35 out of 120 predictions incorrect, a whopper result considering the general unpredictability of the some of the nights.
