In professional wrestling, kayfabe /ˈkeɪfeɪb/ is the portrayal of staged events within the industry as "real" or "true," specifically the portrayal of competition, rivalries, and relationships between participants as being genuine and not of a staged or pre-determined nature. Kayfabe has also evolved to become a code word of sorts for maintaining this "reality" within the realm of the general public.

Though the general public had been aware of the staged nature of professional wrestling for decades, the professional wrestling industry did not formally acknowledge this until 1989 when Vince McMahon testified before the New Jersey state senate that wrestling was staged, in order to avoid taxation on his in-house shows and pay-per-view events.

This is a new age of wrestling, with an increased spotlight on the industry due to the internet, social media, and now the WWE Network. Many inside the industry feel it is far more difficult to suspend belief like it used to be. Some even feel it's impossible as the WWE's loyal fan base grows older, and the company still aim their product at a younger audience.

But something is happening down in NXT... A new breed of performers are being taught the ropes, and developed into the next stars of the business - thanks largely to in-ring legend Triple H. What's more, NXT has become a 'Brand' of its own... And now, the time has come for Vince McMahon to capitalise on the successes of 'The Game' and embrace NXT...

TheLloyd (with the help of Wikipedia)

NOTE: Welcome to my new diary... I have five preview posts, and pay-per-views to get through before we get to 2016, as I started the game in August 2015 and played up to January 2016. I booked the first few months how I wanted the company to progress, and how I wanted to incorporate NXT. But I didn't fully write out those shows and months... So sit back, and enjoy the ride of SummerSlam, Night of Champions, Hell in a Cell, Survivor Series and TLC...

Owner Goals:

(Rules I’ll try to stick by.)

[Rule 1]
– All signings must remain in developmental for a minimum of SIX MONTHS before being called up to the Main Roster… (Trying to keep in line with real life a little more, and not have a bunch of debuts straight away like I did in my previous two diaries… I already have the NXT roster up on Smackdown, so I don’t need anyone else… My roster size is big (as always) but this time it’s mostly jobbers and people I can leave off TV for a few weeks without anyone noticing. I’m looking at YOU Heath Slater!)

[Rule 2]
– All signings must be made by readers of the diary in prediction prizes… Again, in my previous diaries, I signed whoever I could, because I could… But now, you guys are going to be my ‘scouts’ as it were, and recommend signings for me to make… They’ll spend at least 6 months in development, as detailed above, and they may never be promoted… but I’ll at least sign them…

[Rule 3]
– I will attempt a Divas Division! Those of you who have read my previous two diaries will know that I scrapped them completely both times as I find it really difficult… However, I will try to use them more, as they are being used more in real life, and I have some ideas for the ladies… I think the likes of Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Paige, The Bellas, Bayley, Alexa Bliss, and Blue Pants, will be fun to write for, and I’ll endeavour to keep both a RAW and NXT: Smackdown Divas/Womens Division…

[Rule 4]
– If someone is retired in real life, I will not have them wrestle in this diary… Again, I’ve made mistakes like this in previous diaries… Steve Austin, Goldberg, Jeremy Stone… If they’re done in real life, they’re done here too! (HBK, Edge, Austin)… But if they do wrestle in real life, they can wrestle here (Triple H, Sting, Undertaker)…

[Rule 5]
– This one’s going to have just two brands… and just two TV shows…

</div>

OOC Notes: So I’ve done this twice before… My previous WWE Diary:
lasted over two years, and I wrote and played around 30 pay-per-views! (Partly boasting here, but also partly telling you that when I get my teeth into a project, I tend to stick at it for a long time)… I then took on the C-Verse, and played a fun diary called:
. It was fun for me, because I got to write for a bunch of characters I wasn’t very familiar with, in a universe I wasn’t very familiar with… That one only lasted 8 months, and 10 events, and despite enjoying it a lot, I always craved writing for the WWE… and real life characters… I also feel I told the story I wanted to, and didn’t need to continue it where it ended…

So now, I have this diary… and if I stick to the rules above, it should be a lot easier and a lot less work for me… and I’ll enjoy it just as much… So hope you stick around and I hope you enjoy this diary as much as you enjoyed the others…

The WWE is changing… For the better… While Vince McMahon remains in charge, he is trusting his daughter Stephanie and her husband Triple H with a lot more, and H’s Brand NXT is going from strength to strength… NXT even sold out the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn the night before SummerSlam… Realising that ‘The Game’ had struck gold, with a great product, and an even better cast of characters, Vince decided it was about time they stopped showing NXT for free on the WWE Network… If people really cared about Finn Balor, Hideo Itami, Tyler Breeze, Samoa Joe, and Enzo and Cass and others, they would have to tune in to RAW and Smackdown… But how would he incorporate the great NXT names into WWE programming…?! Were they ‘over’ enough to compete with the WWE ‘Superstars’…?!

Vince knew he couldn’t let the likes of Finn Balor come up and lose to Seth Rollins every week, but likewise, he knew he couldn’t have Balor beat Rollins yet… He knew what he had in NXT, and wanted to keep the brand strong, and get more people watching RAW and Smackdown…

In the weeks leading up to SummerSlam and NXT: Takeover Brooklyn, across RAW, Smackdown and NXT, we saw mysterious videos playing, hyping the arrival of a ‘Club’… But nobody knew who the club were, and when they’d arrive… Then, at Takeover Brooklyn, the video played during the Finn Balor/Kevin Owens Ladder Match for the NXT Title… Right when Owens was about to grab the Belt and win the match! This allowed Balor to climb up, knock Owens down, and retain the Gold… The crowd in Brooklyn cheered Balor for the win, but Social Media sites blew up with rumours that ‘The Club’ could be something to do with Finn Balor and his past as a member of ‘The Bullet Club’ in Japan… At SummerSlam, chants of ‘Young Bucks’ and ‘Bullet Club’ could be heard during a few of the matches, and the crowd grew excited…

At SummerSlam, ‘The Club’ arrived and attacked Seth Rollins after he retained the WWE World Heavyweight Title!!! Finn Balor was indeed involved, and seemed to be the leader of the group… all wearing ‘Balor Club’ t-shirts, the group consisted of Balor, Brian Kendrick, Rhyno and Baron Corbin! All four complained of being under-utilised on the Main Roster… and went after the top guy on RAW to make their point…

SummerSlam 2015 went a little differently to how you’d expect it to… Mainly due to John Cena and Dolph Ziggler not cleared to compete… and also because the limitations of the game (I can’t do a 3 on 3 on 3 match between the divas for instance)… But most of it was the same line-up, and the same results…

On the pre-show, Brian Kendrick and Rhyno from NXT defeated The Mega Powers (Axlemania and Macho Mandow)…

Stephen Amell and Neville defeated King Barrett and Stardust, with the help of another NXT star: Samoa Joe…

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose defeated Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt…

The New Day won the Tag Team Titles against the Prime Time Playas, the Lucha Dragons, and Los Matadores…

Kevin Owens beat Cesaro in a great match…

The Miz won the Intercontinental Title in a Triple Threat Match by pinning Ryback after a KO Punch from the Big Show…

In a bonus match, Jushin Thunder Liger beat Tyler Breeze; a re-match from the previous night’s: NXT: Takeover Brooklyn…

Brie and Nikki Bella, Naomi and Sasha Banks beat Paige, Becky Lynch, Charlotte and the returning Natalya in a 4 on 4 divas match… when Becky Lynch turned on her teammates…

Seth Rollins retained the WWE World Heavyweight Title in a Triple Threat Match against Randy Orton and Sheamus…

The Balor Club then arrived and attacked Seth Rollins (as detailed above)…

The Undertaker defeated Brock Lesnar, with the same finish as in real life!!!

Really nice response so far.. Thanks guys, you're all too kind :)

Here's more...

<div style="background-color:#ffffff;border-style:solid;border-width:2px";">

The ‘Balor Club’ (Finn Balor, Brian Kendrick, Rhyno and Baron Corbin) showed up on RAW the night after SummerSlam, where they attacked and injured Triple H, demanding to be utilised on the Main Roster… ‘The Game’ refused, and so he was taken out… In the following weeks, more WWE officials were attacked by the group, until Vince McMahon himself told the group that they had to earn it… So they did, by Finn Balor beating Seth Rollins in the Main Event of RAW, when Rollins walked away from the match!

Meanwhile, The Undertaker came to the ring to explain his actions towards Brock Lesnar, but Lesnar didn’t let him explain, as he jumped ‘The Deadman’…!!! Shockingly, out came Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper! With the Wyatt Family’s help, ‘Taker Chokeslammed Lesnar through the announce table, and the ‘Beast’ wasn’t the only one beaten up, as Harper grabbed Paul Heyman and threw him into the ring! Undertaker wasted little time in hitting a Tombstone on Heyman, silencing Lesnar and Heyman, and creating a new group of his own…

Elsewhere, the New Day refused to fight the Prime Time Playas in their mandatory re-match, and it was eventually booked for Night of Champions… Dolph Ziggler returned on an episode of MizTV and attacked Rusev, leading to a Triple Threat match between Miz, Ziggler and Rusev at N.O.C… Vince McMahon punished Seth Rollins by booking a 5-way Scramble Match at N.O.C for the WWE World Heavyweight Title… and Samoa Joe continued to make an impact on both RAW and Smackdown…

</div>

On the pre-show, Neville put Stardust away in an entertaining match that angered the painted up weirdo…

The New Day retained the WWE Tag Team Titles against the Prime Time Playas, with the help of Xavier Woods at ringside…

Finn Balor retained his NXT Title against a surprise opponent: Ryback!!!

The Miz somehow escaped the Triple Threat Match against Dolph Ziggler and Rusev with his Intercontinental Title…

Kevin Owens beat Cesaro once again in their re-match, which was again excellent…

Nikki Bella retained her Divas Title to become the longest reigning Divas Champion in WWE History…

Samoa Joe beat King Barrett in Joe’ first WWE Pay-Per-View Match…

John Cena’s ‘US Open Challenge’ was answered by Sheamus, and the two put on the Match of the Night…

Seth Rollins defended his WWE World Heavyweight Title in a 5-way Scramble Match against Randy Orton, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt… During the match, we saw The Wyatt Family work together, but Roman Reigns turned on his ‘brother’ Dean Ambrose!!! Rollins won the match by pinning Ambrose following a Reigns ‘Spear’ to his friend…

No Lloyd characters, or arenas, or tag teams named after me... none of that :D haha! Got 3 more hype posts and then you can get your picks in for the Royal Rumble!!! :D

Great start intresting to see what happen with Balor Club next

Vince McMahon was so impressed by Finn Balor’s Title defence at Night of Champions that he gave Balor and the rest of NXT what they wanted… Smackdown!!! From now on, NXT will move to Thursday Nights and have a 2 hour TV show to show off their talents, but their ratings weren’t good enough, so Mr. McMahon sent some of his top names over to NXT: Smackdown to help the brand out… Most notably, US Champion John Cena, Goldust, King Barrett, Cesaro, Jack Swagger, and the Mega Powers…

As we built towards Hell in a Cell, John Cena went after Seth Rollins, looking to take the WWE World Heavyweight Title to NXT: Smackdown!!! Cena wanted revenge for Rollins breaking his nose a few months ago, and causing him to miss SummerSlam… Vince McMahon booked the match, but NOT for both Belts… Just for Rollins’ World Title…!

The feud between Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose took over most of RAW, with Ambrose failing to understand why all of his friends had turned their backs on him… Reigns said it’s because he’s crazy, and can’t be trusted, and all Reigns wants to do is become WWE World Heavyweight Champion, not bail Ambrose out of all the fights he starts… Ambrose said Reigns started the fight with the Wyatts, and he bailed HIM out…! Leading to a match between the two at Hell in a Cell…

Sheamus and Randy Orton renewed their feud, when Orton cost Sheamus his Money in the Bank cash-in live on RAW! It was an official cash-in, so Sheamus joined the very short list of men who had FAILED to win the World Title using their Money in the Bank Contract…

Elsewhere, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy debuted on RAW, and went right after The New Day! Ziggler and Rusev are finally set to go 1 on 1 at Hell in a Cell… Stardust joined the Undertaker’s ‘Ministry of Darkness’, and will team with Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper to take on Goldust, Samoa Joe and Apollo Crews from NXT: Smackdown… and Paige was granted a re-match for the WWE Divas Title…

Kinda hope you push Brian Kendrick to the moon... possibly because he just worked one of our shows & I got to party with him... :)

I love Kendrick, always have! Bet that was cool!!! Where is that?!

The extremely sad thing is that mr. punk isn't gonna be around :(

but sweet starting with the best ppv to read the royal rumble! :D

Yeh Punk has 'left the business'... Do they ever return or is that 'hiatus' only?!

When I started my last WWE Diary, Elimination Chamber was the first show, so I just missed the Rumble... I knew where I wanted to start this one! #nobrainer!!

Left the business is no chance, but there is nothing stopping you editing him to hiatus so there is still a chance or just make him active if you choose to write a storyline about millions of dollars bringing him back or without HHH / Vince etc.

In John Cena’s first night on NXT: Smackdown, he put his United States Title up for grabs, and the challenge was accepted by ‘Prince Pretty’ Tyler Breeze… With Seth Rollins’ help, Breeze dethroned Cena, and became the ‘Most Gorgeous United States Champion of All Time’! This led to Cena and Rollins continuing their feud, and one final match at Survivor Series for the WWE World Heavyweight Title…

NXT: Smackdown’s ratings improved significantly this month, particularly Cena vs Breeze… But when a returning Sami Zayn beat the Balor Club’s Rhyno in the Main Event, the crowd were hot as hell, and the match grade was the highest in NXT: Smackdown’s short history… Zayn’s return led to a Team Zayn vs Team Balor Club match at Survivor Series…

Another Classic Survivor Series Match was added to the card, as The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Stardust) joined forces with Rusev and Roman Reigns, to take on Goldust, Ziggler, Ambrose, Ryback and Cesaro…

Elsewhere, Ready. Willing. And Gable (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable) captured the NXT Tag Team Titles from The Vaudevillians, ending their three month reign… and Neville pinned The Miz in a non-title match to earn a re-match for the Intercontinental Title at Survivor Series…

The pre-show of November’s Survivor Series pay-per-view saw Tyler Breeze retain the US Title against Jack Swagger…

The New Day defended their WWE Tag Team Titles against the excellent Lucha Dragons…

The Miz beat Neville to retain the Intercontinental Title, but used a low-blow to do it…

Team Zayn (Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe, Apollo Crews, Hideo Itami and Randy Orton) beat The Balor Club (Finn Balor, Baron Corbin, Brian Kendrick, Rhyno and new member Sheamus)… Samoa Joe was the sole survivor…

Another Balor Club member was in action next, as Becky Lynch survived, along with Nikki Bella (Brie, Naomi and Sasha were eliminated) to beat the team of Charlotte, Paige, Natalya, Bayley and Blue Pants…

Roman Reigns, Rusev, Stardust, Wyatt and Harper beat Ambrose, Ziggler, Goldust, Cesaro and Ryback…

And in the Main Event, Seth Rollins retained his WWE World Heavyweight Title against John Cena…

In the build up to Tables, Ladders and Chairs, RAW contracted and NXT: Smackdown contracted wrestlers stayed on their respective shows…

Seth Rollins’ big mouth got him in trouble this month, as he claimed he has been the stand-out member of The Shield, and Reigns and Ambrose’ recent feud just goes to prove it… Both Reigns and Ambrose took exception, and challenged ‘The Architect’ to a Triple Threat TLC Match at the TLC Pay-Per-View, with the WWE World Heavyweight Title Belt hanging above the ring!!!

John Cena claimed he had no interest in becoming NXT Champion, but the Belt will be recognised as the ‘NXT World Championship’ after TLC, when Finn Balor defends the gold against Samoa Joe in a Ladder Match… Cena has been instructed to be the ‘Guest Referee’ in order to keep the Balor Club from interfering in the match, and so that we have a fair winner… but does Cena have an ulterior motive…?!

Randy Orton and Rusev entered into a feud when Rusev and Summer Rae tried to claim that Rusev’s ‘Accolade’ was the best finisher in the WWE, and nobody could break it… Rusev showed the WWE Universe what he meant in a match with Goldust, but Orton appeared and hit an ‘RKO’ out of nowhere while Rusev was leaning back… thus breaking the hold there and then… Orton then claimed that HE has the best finisher in the WWE…

After losing to The Miz twice at recent pay-per-views, but pinning the Intercontinental Champion 3 times in various matches on RAW, Neville has one more chance at the IC Title at TLC… In a star-studded Fatal-4-Way TABLES Match, Paige will defend her Divas Title against Charlotte, Nikki Bella and Sasha Banks… Sami Zayn will battle Kevin Owens one more time… and The New Day will put their WWE Tag Titles on the line against Enzo and Cass again…

On the pre-show, Wyatt, Harper and Stardust continued their dominance with a win over Ziggler, Ryback and Cesaro…

Rusev not only beat Randy Orton, but put him on the shelf in a vicious match…

Neville finally managed to beat The Miz when it counted, and captured his first Title on RAW… The Intercontinental Title…

Sami Zayn defeated Kevin Owens in an incredible CHAIRS match that was only overshadowed by the Main Event…

The New Day beat Enzo and Cass to retain their WWE Tag Team Titles, but were then put through Tables by the returning Usos!!!

Paige beat Charlotte, Nikki Bella and Sasha Banks in a Tables Match; the best Divas Match in recent years…

Finn Balor retained his NXT Title by beating Samoa Joe in a Ladder Match, with NO help from The Balor Club…

After the match, Special Guest Referee: John Cena and the victorious Balor stared each other down…

Seth Rollins escaped TLC with his WWE World Heavyweight Title after Ambrose and Rollins fumbled the Belt from the top of the Ladder, and ‘The Architect’ scooped it up!

The rest of the month saw the beginning of the build to the Royal Rumble… On RAW, Seth Rollins’ dodgy Title defence caused Vince McMahon to step in once again, and book a re-match for the Royal Rumble… Rollins vs Ambrose vs Reigns… SHIELD Triple Threat Part Two! However, this time, it would be inside a Steal Cage so that we would have a clear winner!!!

John Cena claimed that now the NXT Title is recognised as a World Title, it’s time for him to equal Ric Flair’s record of 16 Times as World Champion, and so he wants Finn Balor at the Royal Rumble… The Balor Club would beat Cena down on numerous occasions, but he got his wish when he beat Sheamus 1 on 1 o NXT: Smackdown, and will fight Balor at the Rumble… with the chance to gain immortality…

The Usos will return to action to take on The New Day for the WWE Tag Team Titles… Ready. Willing. And Gable. Will defend their NXT Tag Titles against the former Champs: The Vaudevillians… Zayn and Owens will go 1 on 1 once again… and the two female Champions: Paige and Bayley will team up to take on their rivals: Nikki Bella and Becky Lynch…

In the Royal Rumble Match itself, are the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, Intercontinental Champion: Neville, Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper of The Ministry of Darkness, and the vicious Rusev from RAW… While NXT: Smackdown will be represented by Cesaro, Samoa Joe, Hideo Itami, Sheamus and Bad News Barrett… Also from Smackdown, Kane, Mark Henry and The Big Show have all complained of how quick the show is now that it’s filled with young talent, and so this will be their last attempt at going to Wrestlemania… If they fail to win the Royal Rumble, they will leave the WWE!!!

Owner Goals: (Rules I’ll try to stick by.)

[Rule 1] – All signings must remain in developmental for a minimum of SIX MONTHS before being called up to the Main Roster… (Trying to keep in line with real life a little more, and not have a bunch of debuts straight away like I did in my previous two diaries… I already have the NXT roster up on Smackdown, so I don’t need anyone else… My roster size is big (as always) but this time it’s mostly jobbers and people I can leave off TV for a few weeks without anyone noticing. I’m looking at YOU Heath Slater!)

[Rule 2] – All signings must be made by readers of the diary in prediction prizes… Again, in my previous diaries, I signed whoever I could, because I could… But now, you guys are going to be my ‘scouts’ as it were, and recommend signings for me to make… They’ll spend at least 6 months in development, as detailed above, and they may never be promoted… but I’ll at least sign them…

[Rule 3] – I will attempt a Divas Division!

[Rule 4] – If someone is retired in real life, I will not have them wrestle in this diary… Again, I’ve made mistakes like this in previous diaries… Steve Austin, Goldberg, Jeremy Stone… If they’re done in real life, they’re done here too! (HBK, Edge, Austin)… But if they do wrestle in real life, they can wrestle here (Triple H, Sting, Undertaker)…

[Rule 5] – This one’s going to have just two brands… and just two TV shows…

</div>
