Impact on Pop! Episode #11: Gold Rush [international Impact]

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/Impact%20UK_zpsnpt2dfak.png

This Tuesday, the Pop Network presents a very special episode of Impact Wrestling. The show will be headlined by a huge World Heavyweight Championship match, but that's not all - this week,
every
Championship in Impact Wrestling will on the line!

In the Main Event, after weeks of physical abuse from the "Carter Kingdom", Rockstar Spud will attempt what many deem impossible. Of course, having the odds against him is nothing new to Rockstar Spud - who has defied probabilities time and time again throughout his career. Can Spud shock the world once again, by beating EC3, and becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion in the city he was born?

Over the past two months, cracks have formed in the relationship of the usually solid team of The Wolves. With Eddie Edwards' rivalry with Kurt Angle getting personal, and Davey refusing to take a side, Eddie accused Davey of a lack of loyalty. While Davey Richards has had just about enough of Eddie's new attitude, he will be determined to keep it together as they face The New Rising, with their Tag Team Championships on the line.

Also in action will be the athletes of the X Division and the Knockout's Division. After proving themselves to be two of the X Division premiere athletes, Tigre Uno and Manik will finally go one on one. Meanwhile, Taryn Terrell has decided change is needed in the Knockout's Division, claiming Gail Kim no longer "fits the aesthetic" of a Champion. Terrell - with her Dollhouse associates at ringside - will look to become the New Face of the Knockouts!

Away from the Championships, Kurt Angle will make an appearance, following his submission victory over Eddie Edwards last week. Next week, Kurt Angle will wrestle his Impact Wrestling Retirement Match and this week he will announce his final opponent in Impact Wresting. Angle claims to have chosen the man he considers to be "the future" of Impact Wrestling.

Bram will also be in action tonight, against fellow Brit Mark Andrews. The match will serve as a "punishment" for the latter, who dared to speak his mind in front of EC3 last week. The chances of a victory for Mark Andrews are about as high as those of this friend Rockstar Spud.

Confirmed:

Impact Wrestling on Pop! Episode #011

The show begins with a video package promoting tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling. It informs us that every single Championship in Impact Wrestling will be defended on this show! The focus of the video package is the Main Event as Ethan Carter III goes one on one with Rockstar Spud, in his hometown of Birmingham!

Following the video we are immediately taken to the streets of Birmingham. Rockstar Spud begins to speak directly to the camera. He says that to a lot of people, this is just any old city, but to Rockstar Spud this is home. This is the city which raised him and made him the man he is today. Tonight, is like a fairytale and there’s just one final chapter to be written. Rockstar Spud says that dreams
can
come true, and tonight he intends to live happily ever after as the NEW World Heavyweight Champion!

<hr>

Back at ringside, the commentators recap everything that Rockstar Spud has gone through in the past weeks and months. Before they can continue, Eddie Edwards - who lost to Kurt Angle last week - makes his way to the ring. As he walks down the ramp, a recap is shown of the finish to the match, where Kurt Angle made Edwards submit to the Ankle Lock.

Eddie Edwards is in a
bad
mood. Last week in London he claims to have been robbed! He had Kurt Angle down in the middle of this ring and the referee counted 1… 2... 3. The referee said he’d won, the announcers said he’d won, but that wasn’t good enough for Davey Richards. Eddie Edwards says that he was the one who requested Davey Richards be the Special Enforcer in that match, but his unconditional
trust
of his “best friend” backfired.. Eddie Edwards says that the one positive about last week is that he finally realised something, Davey Richards’ priority isn’t with The Wolves, and it never has been! Eddie wants Davey to come to the ring and explain where they stand as Tag Team Champions...

Davey Richards makes his way into the ring, but gives no credence to Eddie’s complaints. Davey Richards isn’t going to entertain the idea that he has
anything
to explain tonight, because last week he did the job that was asked of him. He called that match fairly and he didn’t give a damn if it was Eddie or Kurt - he just wanted the best man to win. He doesn’t need to pick favourites. Eddie Edwards says that is the entire problem. Davey doesn’t have a favourite? How about the guy who helped make him who he is today? They were supposed to be The Wolves… they were supposed to hunt as a pack... Davey is supposed to have
his
[/b]
back!

Davey Richards says that if anybody is failing to represent what The Wolves stand for, it’s Eddie. They have been best friends for years, they have been multiple time Tag Team Champions, but what makes The Wolves stand out is that they are more than just a team. Davey says The Wolves are supposed to stand for pride… they were supposed to stand for respect… they were supposed to fight with
honour
! Davey Richards says he still believes in the virtues of The Wolves, but Eddie Edwards has changed! Richards says he has no idea if it’s reversible, but he hopes it is, for the sake of their Tag Team Championships. They are the best Tag Team on the planet. Before Eddie can retort, EC3’s music hit and he comes out, stopping at the top of the ramp.

Ethan Carter reintroduces the men in the ring, saying: “Ladies and Gentleman, the World Tag Team Champions… The Wolves”. EC3 says he understands exactly what they are going through. Sometimes friendships can grow apart, best friends can grow to resent each other. EC3 doesn’t want to see that happen, and he has a plan to bring The Wolves closer than ever. The Wolves live and breath Tag Team Wrestling, so what better way to remember what brought you together on day one. EC3 says The Wolves have a match tonight… defending their Tag Team Championships… against The New Rising! Eli Drake & Micah comes out to the ring, it’s time for the opening match!

While Davey Richards tried to bring the team back together, it was clear from the moment this match started that The Wolves were not on the same page. Richards approached the match like he would any other, but Eddie appeared to be trying to prove a point to his partner. Though they started well, Eddie decide to go into business of his own, deciding he could beat The New Rising without tagging his partner in. Even as The New Rising took control of the match, Eddie refused to bring in Davey Richards. In comparison, The New Rising appeared to be a well oiled, cohesive tag team unit and they dismantled the hard headed Eddie Edwards. Eventually, once he had taken a large amount of damage - Edwards brought Davey Richards into the match, leaving him with what has in essence a 2-on-1 handicap match.

The task at hand was clear, but Davey didn’t back down. He fought back valiantly, but soon found himself exactly where The New Rising wanted him. They attempted to end the match with a Double Team move, but Davey began to mount a comeback. Davey hit a kick to the head of Micah, followed by a Dropkick which knocked Eli Drake out of the ring, to the floor below. Davey Richards then slowly crawled to the his corner, only to be left with no-one to tag in. Instead, his partner Eddie Edwards, was seen slumped up against the Steel Steps, still feeling the effects of the beating he took earlier on. Eddie is holding his head and barely registered Davey’s presence.

Richards dragged himself back to his feet and turned around to see Micah stood across from him. Micah tagged in Eli Drake and both men set upon him. Richards put up a good fight but was overpowered. Micah tagged back in and The New Rising hit a Samoan Drop/Knee Backbreaker combo (dubbed “The Rise & Fall” by JB). Davey could not answer the three count and we had New Tag Team Champion!

Winner:
The New Rising (in 7:41; NEW Tag Team Champions)

Despite previously appearing in incapacitated during the match, it didn’t take Eddie Edwards long to get back in the ring once The New Rising left. Davey Richard, also in pain, struggled to get back to his feet. Davey was clearly pissed off and looked close to the edge as Eddie Edwards began to blame him for the loss. Edwards appeared to think the advice “you should’ve kicked out” was somehow helpful at this point. Davey Richards puts his head down and Eddie continues to berate him…

Davey is clearly frustrated, but tries to keep himself under control. Eddie gets in Davey’s face and tell him to “look at [him]”. Davey Richards raises his eyes from the ground and grabs Eddie Edwards by the throat. Without a word he pushes Eddie to the ground, having had enough of Eddie’s attitude. Davey Richards makes a beeline for the back, not looking back as Edwards sits in the ring - shocked.

Next up, is footage from “Earlier Today”, introduced by the commentators. We see EC3 arriving at the arena, getting out of a flash car, followed by his huge entourage. Conversely, we see Rockstar Spud - who lives nearby - walking into the arena, being greeted by his friend Mark Andrews. Tonight Ethan Carter III will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Birmingham’s own Rockstar Spud!

<hr>

In the back, we catch up with Kurt Angle. He is pleased with his victory against Eddie Edwards last week and he still has one more match in him. Next week, he will retire from Impact Wrestling - but he’ll be in the ring later tonight to reveal the plans for his last ever match!

<hr>

Mr. Anderson comes to the ring. He speaks of how great it has been to be in this ring, in front of the people of the United Kingdom. Anderson says that every fan that he’s spoken to has been brilliant and the support for Impact Wrestling in the UK proves why they’re the best crowd anywhere in the world! In the back, he’s also got to meet some of the great UK talent and seen the brightest sparks of the British Wrestling scene in a Impact Wrestling ring… but that can’t be said for everyone. Some people have rubbed Mr. Anderson up the wrong way… one of those people, is the man he’s calling out right now… Rampage Brown!

This match exploded into action, with a brawl breaking out at soon as the bell rang. Anderson took the fight to Rampage Brown, but was eventually overpowered. Brown used every trick in the book to keep Anderson down and was somewhat successful until Anderson caught a break. Mr. Anderson began to comeback and eventually won the match following a Mic Drop.

Winner:
Mr. Anderson (in 5:17)

Directly after his win, Anderson is jumped by Dave Mastiff. Soon Rampage Brown joins in the beatdown. Before too much damage can be done, Matt Hardy runs down to the ring.

Matt Hardy clears the ring of Dave Mastiff and Rampage Brown, who are happy to retreat up the ramp. Mr. Anderson is clearly hurt, but manages to get on his feet and stare down the attackers.

The New Rising - Eli Drake & Micah - arrive back at the locker room, with the Tag Team Championships over their shoulders. Bram gets straight up from his seat and applaudes the New Champions. Bram hugs Eli & Micah and tells them, just like he said… they’re better off without Jessie! Bram laughs, Jessie who is in the opposite corner of the room sigh, shakes his head and decides to leave the ring. Before he can leave, Bram grabs him - he tells Jessie he’s only having a laugh with him. He forces Jessie to sit back down and Godderz appears to loosen up. Bram walks away from Jessie, only turning around to say “you are bloody useless though”.

This X Division Championship match was the two competitors first ever meeting on Impact Wrestling. While they have faced off before, never was there more pressure in this title match. The two X Division athletes went back and forth in a quick paced contest and both men took a number of high risks throughout. The ending to the match came with Manik going to the top rope for a Springboard 450 Splash, Tigre Uno moved out of the way and went to the outside himself. Tigre Uno jumped onto the ropes, and then turned onto the top turnbuckle. Tigre Uno hit a Sabretooth Splash for the victory, retaining his Championship.

Winner:
Tigre Uno (in 8:30)

Cutting away from the match we see Kurt Angle in the back, he is making his way to the ring… next!

<hr>

The second hour of the show opens with the entrance of Kurt Angle. Kurt is wearing a suit and has a microphone in his hand. Kurt Angle talks about ten great years that he has spent in Impact Wrestling, describing it as the best run of his career. Angle recaps some of his greatest opponent, from Samoa Joe to Sting, to AJ Styles and Bobby Roode. Kurt Angle says that his spell in Impact Wrestling has featured some of the greatest matches of his career and he looks on the current roster and he sees a deep pool of talent. He knows that when he’s gone, this company is in good hands. Angle puts personal differences aside to say that Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, EC3 and Birmingham’s own Rockstar Spud are just some of the great talents that are going to entertain the greatest fans in the World for years to come.

This brings Kurt to his last
ever
match in Impact Wrestling. Kurt Angle says that he wanted his final match to be against the very best that this company has to offer, and as he looked around the locker room one man stood out. A man he has never faced before and someone who he believes has every tool in his locker to carry this company for the
next
ten years. Kurt Angle says that next week, he will face a man who understand what it means to represent this business, who knows what Impact Wrestling means to people all around the world, and a man who
stands up
and is proud to call himself a professional wrestler. Kurt Angle invites his final opponent to the ring… Drew Galloway!

After a short pause, Drew Galloway comes out to the ring, in a hoodie and jeans. He is surprise and was clearly not expecting the announcement. Drew Galloway comes to the ring and shakes hands with Kurt Angle, they hug before Drew takes a microphone. Drew Galloway starts by thanking Kurt Angle, saying that it would be an honour to be his last opponent in Impact Wrestling! Drew Galloway says that for ten years straight Kurt Angle has been the standard setter for Impact Wrestling and he has continually raised the bar. Drew Galloway says no matter where he’s been, Kurt Angle has excelled and he will go down as one of the best to ever do this. People like Kurt Angle are the reason Drew Galloway is so proud to call himself a Pro-Wrestler. Drew Galloway thanks on behalf of everybody here and says that now the responsibility is on both of them to put on a classic. Drew says that these people deserve to see one final legendary Kurt Angle match, and Drew Galloway is going to do his best to make sure that next week is night everybody in this building, and everyone watching back at home, will
never
forget. The two shakes hands and the match is set. Next week, the Retirement Tour comes to an end - Kurt Angle will go one on one with Drew Galloway!

As a punishment for daring to speak his mind last week, Mark Andrews was put up against the Brutish Bram, with Tyrus at ringside. Bram dominated much of the match, and bar a small amount of hope for Mark Andrews, it was fairly one sided. Andrews gave everything to stay in the match, but he couldn’t answer the count after being introduced to The Brighter Side of Suffering!

Winner:
Bram (in 3:33)

Of course, the victory wasn’t enough for Bram and Tyrus, they continued to lay into Mark Andrews who was being punished for his support of Rockstar Spud. Despite his Main Event match later, Rockstar Spud refused to allow his friend to be bullied and ran out to make the save.

Rockstar Spud attempted to help his friend out, but found himself outnumbered by Bram and Tyrus. Discarding Andrews, the two began to focus on Rockstar Spud and Bram set up a Table in the ring. At this point, Lashley ran down...

Lashley entered the ring, but Bram and Tyrus had already left. Lashley was too late and the damage was done to Rockstar Spud. A medic helps Spud to the back. Lashley is pissed off and takes a microphone. He says he doesn’t think he made himself clear - he is sending a final warning to EC3: if
anybody
gets involved in tonight’s Main Event - he will be out there to ensure that EC3 loses his Championship!

After the break, the camera begins to follow a medic helping Rockstar Spud in the back. Spud is limping and holding his ribs when he spots the cameraman. Spud asks the medic to stop and sits on a storage box. Rockstar Spud looks down the camera and tells EC3 that he knew exactly what Ethan Carter was capable of… and he knew he’d do anything to screw him out of his Championship match... but he will not be broken! Rockstar Spud has been battered and beaten week after week, but he’s used to that.

Tonight, every arrogant rich kid, every muscle bound douchebag, every bully he has faced in his life will manifest in the face of EC3. Spud says that Carter might be rich, he might be more powerful that Spud, but tonight he’s going to swing on EC3 and he isn’t going to stop until he’s broken his nose! Spud tells EC3 to be ready… tonight he better prepare for a fight to the death!

<hr>

A video package is shown recapping the differences between Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell. Gail Kim is the standard bearer of the Knockout’s Division but Taryn Terrell wants change. Terrell believes that she should be the Mainstream Face of the Impact Wrestling Knockouts, not Gail Kim!

These two women have faced many times before, in what is one of Impact Wrestling’s most storied rivalries. Marti Belle and Jade were at ringside throughout the match and they allowed Taryn Terrell to take control of the match. As Gail Kim attempted to come back, Marti and Jade once again got involved. This time the referee spotted them, and ejected The Dollhouse from ringside. This allowed Gail Kim to regain a footing in the match and gradually fight back.

Taryn Terrell still managed to slow the Championship down, attempting the Running Cutter that has won her many matches. Kim pushed Terrell away and hit an Eat Defeat. Both women fell to the mat and Gail Kim slowly dragged herself over to Taryn Terrell for the 1… 2… kickout! Jeremy Borash is shocked to see someone kick out of the Eat Defeat but quickly Gail Kim is back in control. Kim locks in a Figure Four Leg Lock to the challenger, causing Taryn to submit.

Winner:
Gail Kim (in 8:25)

A video package is shown recapping the history of EC3 and Rockstar Spud. It shows us the arrival of Rockstar Spud as Dixie Carter’s Chief of Staff. It shows Rockstar Spud serving EC3, until their relationship began to deteriorate. EC3, who blamed Spud for an injury to sustained by Dixie Carter, began to bully Rockstar Spud - until he finally stood up for himself!. Spud snapped and the two men faced off a year ago on the same UK tour. Spud continued to be targetted by EC3’s associates and the rivalry recently flared back up. Rockstar Spud, against all odds, won a Number One Contender Battle Royal two weeks ago, which led to this unlikely World Heavyweight Championship match, in Rockstar Spud’s hometown!

<hr>

Ethan Carter III is interviewed ahead of the Main Event. EC3 laughs off the challenge off Rockstar Spud, asking the interview if Spud is even a Heavyweight. EC3 continues by saying that he understands that the people of Birmingham are are incredibly unintelligent and can’t speak English properly, so he’ll speak slowly. EC3 tells them fairytales aren’t real and they need to wake up because Spud will not beat him tonight. Now he wants to speaks to the viewers at home. If they have tuned in to see an underdog fairy story, they’d better change the channel because they are going to be disappointed. Tonight, they aren’t going to see Rockstar Spud realise a childhood dream, they are going to see EC3 deliver a hard dose of reality. Carter asks the interviewer if she knows what guys like Rockstar Spud are known as in this business. She doesn’t… Carter tells her Rockstar Spud is a “vanilla midget”. Sure, these flippy acrobats have a place on the show, but putting “butts in seats”, that’s the job of the real Superstars. In the Main Event, the hopes and dreams of the revolt of the masses rests on the slender shoulders of Rockstar Spud… tonight, he crumbles to the power of the One Percent!

Following the big match introduction, Rockstar Spud goes straight after the World Heavyweight Champion and shocks Carter from the bell, even going for an Underdog within the first minute. After a flurry of punches from Spud, Carter took a step back and gained control of the match, putting Spud into a rest hold to wear him down.

This seemed to work and EC3 began to dominate proceedings, even begin to mock and taunt the hometown hero, such was his confidence. EC3 began to slap Rockstar Spud around and seemed to think that the win was in the bag. This fired up the challenger who began to “hulk up”. Fighting back against the much larger Carter, Spud got back to one knee and hit the Champion with an elbow to the gut. With Carter’s arm still around Spud’s head, Spud bounced him off the ropes and hit a Dropkick. Spud’s rally continued, with him hitting another Dropkick to Champion, sending him to the outside. Rockstar Spud followed this up with a dive to the outside, onto the Champion, and rallied the crowd behind him.

From here, Carter took a breather while Spud returned to the ring. As the referee’s count reached six, Spud joined EC3 on the outside and tried to bring him back in, EC3, who had been playing possum, pushed Spud into the Guardrail and reentered the ring. Spud holding his back in pain, got into the ring at 9 but fell straight into an attempted One Percenter from EC3. Rockstar Spud reversed this and out of nowhere he hit an Underdog to EC3. Rockstar Spud crawled over to the Champion and put his arm on his chest for a 1… 2… before the referee’s hand could come out, Bram is down and pulls Hebner out of the ring.

The referee refrains from calling for the bell but tells Bram to get out of here. As the referee points up the ramp, the rest of the Carter Kingdom come down to ringside.

The New Rising, Jessie Godderz and Tyrus surround the ring and while Rockstar Spud is up first, the look of resignation is clear on his face. While the numbers were against him, Lashley stayed true to his word and came down to the ring, sprinting straight into the action..

Lashley took the fight to the five men on the outside, but he was vastly outnumbered. The distraction allowed EC3 to knock Spud back down with knee to the head. Lashley, being restrained by five men, shouted towards EC3 and was determined to get to him. He appeared to get loose from the five, until Tyrus hit him with a Spike to the throat. Lashley is stunned and EC3 begins to talk trash him from the safety of the ring. Lashley gives one last burst of fire and momentarily gets free. While he is once again stopped, the distraction allows Rockstar Spud to get up behind EC3.

Rockstar Spud grabs EC3 and signals for the Underdog. The commentators say this could be Spud’s only hope, as he gets bounces his feet off the top rope. Rockstar Spud goes to hit the move but Ethan Carter is too strong. EC3 manages to halt to momentum of the Underdog and dumps Rockstar Spud directly to the outside - clearly a desperate move from the Champion. The commentators, who have a good view of Spud, show concern for the challenger - who is in a bad way. JB highlights everything that Spud has through before, during and since the Number One Contenders Battle Royal. He says that could be it for Spud, but he’s done himself proud. The referee’s count reaches 9, but Spud will not give up, he throws himself back into the ring, but it straight into the grasp of EC3. Rockstar Spud attempts to struggle free but he is dragged to the middle of the ring. Carter hits a One Percenter to Rockstar Spud and the referee counts 1… 2… 3!

Winner:
Ethan Carter III (in 8:29)

Following the match, EC3 shrugs off any damage done by Spud and has his arm raised in the ring. With the focus of the Champion in the ring, the camera fails to spot Lashley breaking free of The Carter Kingdom at ringside. EC3 also fails to spot Lashley and only turns around as the referee darts out of the ring. Caught off guard, EC3 turns straight into a Spear from Lashley. Ethan Carter ends the show, out cold in the ring. Lashley stands tall… surely he is next in line for the World Heavyweight Champion...

Pretty great show, liked how it was written! Was really anticipating this one, with Manik facing Tigre and such.

I'm all for new tag champs but.. splitting the Wolves? I don't wanna be too negative but I'm curious where you're going there. I guess if one of them is getting a big ol' push or one is leaving, but otherwise.. they just work so well together.

Can't wait to see what's next!

Thanks. 'Negativity' is more than welcome and I agree to a degree. I am a big fan of both and I have been debating where to go with The Wolves (I have already booked what I would consider the resolution, but it hasn't been posted yet). One thing that I noticed when starting the game was that there was not a great deal of tag teams and not any remotely close to The Wolves (push wise). Slowly (and more so over the next few weeks) I am looking to build up the division, but The Wolves were so far above everyone and it would've been a struggle to find anyone to beat them. The tension between the two helped them lose the titles and remain looking strong while keeping them from being a team who are unbeatable or booked too strong for the division they're in.

The decision was either to split them up, or to 'weaken' the team so they can be seen as fallible. From what I've seen they are just 'wresting machines' IRL and I thought with them both being so good, their characters needed to show some ambition beyond just going out there are beating everyone up. I see them both as future top guys and I think working with Angle would elevate them - it's just a case of how quickly I want to get them there.

Impact Wrestling on Pop! Episode #012

Episode #012: Angle’s Last Stand; #ThankYouKurt [international Impact!]

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/Impact%20UK_zpsnpt2dfak.png

The show opens with a video package introduced as “Kurt Angle’s Greatest Moments”. The first highlight is taken from September 2006, the night Kurt Angle first entered the “Impact Zone”. Kurt’s debut is faded out and we see Kurt Angle arriving at the “Impact Zone” for the final time, earlier today.

Kurt Angle is seen outside the building, taking in his surrounding. As he reaches the entrance to the arena, he interacts with a number of fans who are waiting outside. As Kurt enters the building, the man behind the camera asks Kurt about his feeling ahead of his Retirement Match tonight. Angle says that he is excited to be able to put on a show for the greatest fans in the World. Tonight, he wrestles his final match in Impact Wrestling.

<hr>

Off the back of his victory over Rockstar Spud last week, EC3 makes his way to the ring. He is joined only by his bodyguard Tyrus, and doesn’t convey the arrogance that we have come to expect from the World Heavyweight Champion! EC3 enters the ring, politely requesting a microphone from the ringside assistant. EC3 waits for the crowd to settle before beginning to speak. He says that tonight, he isn’t here to play the antagonist and he doesn’t want to get involved in any of the usual drama that follows him. Carter says that tonight isn’t about all that, tonight is a celebration. Ethan Carter says that tonight is about looking back at the achievements of one man who has raised the bar for this business year after year after year. He says that this man has overcame injuries, defied odds to become one of the most successful Champions in the history of this sport, and earned the respect of everybody in this industry along the way. Tonight we show respect and admiration for a true American Hero. EC3 hands the microphone to Tyrus. Tyrus tells the people to rise and show respect for… E-C-3! Carter takes the microphone back and begins to laugh. EC3 says that tonight is not about Kurt Angle… it’s about him! All Ethan has heard about throughout this tour is Kurt Angle this and Kurt Angle that. Those people live in the past… he is the focussed on the future of Impact Wrestling! A future where he continues to carry the weight of expectations on his back. Kurt Angle is leaving and Ethan admits, Kurt is the greatest performer in the history of this company, but he is only interested in looking forward. He wishes Kurt well tonight, he tells the people to enjoy the night. They need to remember though - this is Carter country and we don’t look in the rear view mirror! Lashley music hits and he has had enough of Carter’s rhetoric.

Lashley tells Carter he should’ve had a rear view mirror last week. Lashley is clearly still annoyed with the result of that Main Event and Carter quickly exits the ring, holding his ribs. This leaves Tyrus in the ring with Lashley. Lashley wants EC3, but Carter tells him not to worry about Carter tonight… because he’s got a match to prepare for… against Tyrus! Tyrus squares up to Lashley and they are nose to nose, as the show goes to commercial.

<hr>

In the back, the cameras have caught up with Drew Galloway. He says that it is an honour and a privilege to share the ring with the greatest of all time in his final match. Drew Galloway will face Kurt Angle tonight!

Jessie Godderz has had a rough few months and has recently grown frustrated with his position in The Carter Kingdom - namely the constant jabs from Bram. Desperate to prove he is not as “useless” as Bram suggested, Jessie requested this match and gave a decent showing of himself - particularly compared to his recent performances. While he did well, Matt Hardy was still too much for Jessie and when he hit a Twist of Fate the match was over.

Winner:
Matt Hardy (in 5:34)

The commentators introduce the second of “Kurt Angle’s Greatest Moments”. It recaps the famous confrontation between Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. Considered one of the most iconic moments in Impact Wrestling history, we see the headbutt and Angle Slam that marked Kurt Angle’s “arrival” in the company. Following the clip we are informed that Kurt Angle will wrap up his spell in Impact Wrestling, next week, during a sit down interview with the man who called that moment - Mike Tenay.

<hr>

Ethan Carter and the Carter Kingdom are in his locker room. Carter is talking to Tyrus about his match with Lashley. He says that if Tyrus doesn’t stop Lashley then he will get a World Heavyweight Championship match. Before Tyrus can respond, Jessie Godderz makes his way back to the locker room, following his defeat earlier.

Jessie Godderz has his head down and doesn’t acknowledge any of his stablemates. As he goes to sit down, EC3 asks Jessie to go get him a coffee. Jessie sits down and EC3 repeats himself. Jessie Godderz looks up at EC3 but doesn’t move. Carter tells him he won’t tell him a third time and Jessie explodes. Godderz gets in EC3’s face. He tells Carter to “get his own” and storms out of the locker room.

Taryn Terrell was not at ringside, reportedly due to her defeat last week to Gail Kim. The former Knockouts Champion apparently laid the blame of her defeat at the feet of Jade and Marti Belle and flew back to the US during the week. Meanwhile, in the match, Jade and Marti Belle gave a good showing of themselves as a useful team. They got the victory when Jade pinned Kay Lee Ray.

Winner:
The Dollhouse (in 4:02)

Ethan Carter III & Tyrus are seen leaving EC3’s locker room. EC3 tells Tyrus that those in charge of Impact Wrestling have decided that if Lashley beats him, then next week, when Impact Wrestling presents Lockdown… Lashley will a shot at EC3 in a Steel Cage. Carter tells Tyrus he is the last line of defence and is Carter’s most trusted companion. He knows Tyrus can beat Lashley.

Tyrus walks off to his match and Ethan takes out his cell phone. From his side of the conversation we gather that he is talking to Dixie Carter, expressing disappointment with certain members of The Carter Kingdom’s unwillingness to serve. Carter requests a new assistant but Dixie Carter has other ideas. A loud noise is heard nearby, so Ethan puts his Aunt Dee on speaker phone. We hear her tell EC3 that next week, on a Live Episode of Impact Wrestling, there will be a new Chief of Staff! EC3 wants more information, but Dixie hangs up…

This was a physical brawl, but Lashley was clearly the much more motivated throughout the match. In the last few weeks “The Destroyer” has ran through anybody in his path. This included hitting a Spear to EC3, just last week! As the match went on, Tyrus began to try and wear down Lashley, but he showed mental and physical strength to fight off the big man. The match came to an end when Tyrus went to the second rope. Lashley stopped him and threw him from the second rope down to the mat. As Tyrus regrouped, he turned straight into a Spear and the match was over.

Winner:
Lashley (in 6:55)

After the match, the commentators confirm that next week Lashley will get a World Heavyweight Championship match… inside a Steel Cage!

As Lashley stands in the ring, Bram runs down - closely followed by Micah and Eli Drake.

Lashley manages to dispose of all three them, hitting a Clothesline to Bram and a Spear to Micah. Drake is the last line of defence and he is hit with a Dominator from Lashley. Following that move, Drake doesn’t move. He is out cold. This brings out EC3.

Carter stares down to the ring, where Lashley stands tall - Carter’s Kingdom lays in ruins around him. Lashley points to his wrist and then to his waist, letting Carter know that his time is coming. The commentators remind us that next week - EC3 will go one on one with Lashley!

The hour ends with the third of “Kurt Angle’s Greatest Moments”, taking us back to his first World Heavyweight Championship win at Sacrifice 2007.

<hr>

Hour two begins with the entrance of the
former
Tag Team Champion, Davey Richards. He takes a microphone… tonight, he has a lot to get off his chest, but first - he wants to talk about Kurt Angle. Davey says that there isn’t a single person in the back who can say they haven’t learned anything from Kurt. Whether it’s competing against him, watching him in this ring, or just by talking to him in the locker room. Richards says that as someone who has been real close to Kurt in his final few months, he wants to say “thank you, Kurt”. Eddie Edwards comes out to the ring, with no music.

Eddie Edwards asks Davey Richards what this is all about? Last week, they lost their Tag Team Championships and Davey’s out here talking about Kurt Angle? He questions if Davey has the mentality to be a Champion anymore… they should be focussing on getting back the Championships, not praising Kurt Angle. Davey Richards tells Edwards to shut up, he was coming out here to talk about them as well. Davey says that he doesn’t feel that they can take their rematch while Edwards is still acting like this - he needs to snap out of it. Eddie is offended, he tells himu it wasn’t Eddie who lost last week - Davey was the one who got pinned. Eddie says it was Davey who put
his
hands on Eddie. Eddie Edwards tells Davey Richards if he doesn’t want to be his partner any more, then just say… Eddie hasn’t got the loser mentality that Davey has developed.

Davey says he doesn’t want that, he wants Eddie Edwards to snap out of this and he wants The Wolves to take back the Championships. Davey Richards wants the real Eddie Edwards back, and if he has to beat this delusion out of him then he will… Eddie Edwards is shocked by this but steps up to Davey and tells him that if it’s like that, he can take his best shot. Davey looks tempted but leaves it. Davey exits the ring and walks up the ramp, leaving Eddie Edwards in the ring.

<hr>

Cutting away, we catch up with Matt Hardy in the back. He is full of praise for both of the competitors in tonight’s Main Event! Matt says that Drew Galloway is one of the best going today, but Kurt Angle is the greatest… he can’t wait to see the match!

<hr>

DJ Z & TJ P are in the ring with Mahabali Shera & Robbie E. None of the competitors get their entrance and it seems DJ Z is trying to put a halt to proceeding, suggesting the four take part in a Dance-Off instead. Robbie E takes some convincing, but is soon doing the Shera Shake. This prompts the arrival of Eric Young.

TJ P & DJ Z escape from the ring, but Robbie E and Shera stand up to him. EY knocks Robbie E down and kicks him out of the ring. EY, looking out of control, gets in Mahabali Shera’s face. Shera tries to get EY to do the dance move but he is having none of it. He pushes Shera to the mat and then hits him with a Piledriver. Shera is motionless.

EY takes a microphone and casually discards Shera from the ring. Eric says that he hates the UK and the sooner he leaves the better… EY says that Kurt’s Retirement Tour should never have happened, because he killed what was left inside of him. Kurt should’ve never have come back. Eric wants any of these UK wrestlers out here, right now, so he can kick their asses...

The challenge was accepted by Joel Redman, who did his best to challenge the maniacal Eric Young. His best was probably not good enough, with EY having a point to prove. The match lasted longer than most would’ve expected but it was straight-forward for EY once he took control. Eric Young went to the top rope and hit an Elbow Drop to Redman, picking up a fairly convincing victory.

Winner:
Eric Young (in 4:23)

The next “Kurt Angle’s Greatest Moments” clip take us back to Hard Justice 2007 when Kurt Angle beat Samoa Joe to become the Tag Team, X Division, IWGP World and World Heavyweight Champion. A feat never achieved before, or since...

<hr>

Bobby Roode is interviewed in the back, he is talking up the Main Event when Mr. Anderson walks in. Anderson says praising Kurt is all well and good, but is he focussed on their match against Rampage and Mastiff tonight? Roode says of course he is… they leave together.

Despite the fact this match was fairly short, Mastiff and Brown did get in a fair amount of offence, taking control of Mr. Anderson from the off. Anderson eventually got back into the match, hitting a Mic Drop to Rampage Brown. Both men crawled to their partners and in came Roode and Mastiff. Roode took control of the match hitting Dave Mastiff with an impressive Roode Bomb. Roode covered Mastiff for the win.

Winners:
Bobby Roode & Mr. Anderson (in 3:50)

The final “Kurt Angle’s Greatest Moments” package shows us a recap of Kurt Angle’s 2015. Starting with an unlikely final run as World Heavyweight Champion and seemingly ending at the hands of Eric Young. Kurt Angle returned at Bound for Glory and soon after announced his Retirement Tour. Aside from a controversial loss to Eddie Edwards - which he later avenged - Kurt Angle has proved he still has what it takes to compete at the very top of Impact Wrestling. Tonight he faces one last challenge, one final match in Impact Wrestling. A legendary career comes to an end… tonight!

The match began with a handshake between the two competitors, but that was the end of the pleasantries. From there both Drew Galloway and Kurt Angle were focussed on gaining the victory. Each with very different motivations. For Kurt the dream has been to leave on the top, proving he still has what it takes to beat the best of the best in Impact Wrestling. For Drew Galloway this is his opportunity to prove that the future of Impact Wrestling is in safe hands with him.

With this being a first time ever meeting, the contest started out fairly tentatively, with both men feeling the other one out. There was no clear spell of domination for either man as they both went through their repertoire attempting to build momentum. Kurt had clearly scouted Drew well and appeared to have a reversal for almost everything he tried, the same could be said vice verse. As the momentum began to swing one way, it was Kurt Angle who took control, producing an impressive series of Suplexes and throws - the moves he has been famous for, over his 20 year career. Kurt punctuated this spell of dominance with his signature Triple German Suplex.

Following the third of these German Suplexes, Kurt smoothly transitioned into an Ankle Lock but Drew managed to roll out of it. This sent Kurt to the outside and Drew decided to take a risk, slingshotting himself over the top rope and down onto Kurt Angle. Drew grabbed Kurt and threw him back in the ring, following up with a Running Boot that has finished off many competitors since he came to Impact Wrestling. Drew covered Kurt, but only achieved a two count.

Drew was quickly back to his feet and stalked Kurt. As Angle got up, Drew ran at him with a Discus Lariat. Kurt ducked under and grabbed Drew in a belly-to-back waistlock. Kurt attempted a German Suplex, but Drew blocked it, hitting back elbows to the head of Kurt. Kurt’s grip loosened and Drew span out, hitting the Olympic Gold Medalist with a decapitating Discus Lariat. Drew dropped to his knees and pinned Kurt for the 1… 2… Kurt managed to roll his shoulder off the mat, but Drew was straight back onto him.

Galloway brought Kurt Angle back to his feet and hooked the arms, going to the Future Shock DDT. Kurt Angle twisted himself out of the move and from nowhere hit an Angle Slam to Drew Galloway. Kurt Angle took a few seconds to reach over to Drew Galloway and the Scot kicked out at two. Kurt Angle knew it would take something special to beat Drew Galloway. Directly after the pinning attempt, he locked in an Ankle Lock. Again Drew attempted to roll out of the move, but Kurt kept his grip of the ankle and regained control of the hold. After a long struggled Kurt dragged Drew into the middle of the ring and grapevined the leg. This usually spelled the end to a Kurt Angle match but Drew Galloway would not give up. The pain was clear on his face and the referee asked Drew if he wanted to give up. Drew gave a defiant roar of “No!” to the referee and somehow found the strength to fight out of the hold. Kurt kept a grip of the Ankle but Drew dragged himself to the bottom rope, forcing Angle to release his ankle.

Drew Galloway was now effectively fighting on one leg and Kurt Angle zoned in. Protecting his injured leg, Drew left himself open and Angle took him down. Drew pulled himself back up against the corner but Kurt was straight onto him. Kurt put Drew on the second rope and positioned for a Belly to Belly Suplex, Drew fought out and sent Angle crashing to the mat. Galloway then took a breather on the turnbuckle before slowly (while favouring his right Ankle) positioning himself to hit a top rope Splash. In the delay, Angle was back up and quickly matched Drew in the corner. Angle grabbed Drew and threw him from the top rope with a Super Angle Slam. Landing far away from Drew, Angle dragged himself over and covered Galloway for the 1… 2… the referee was forced to stop his count as Drew had instinctively managed to place his foot against the bottom rope. Angle couldn’t believe how close he had come and took a second to regroup.

Wracking his brain for his next move, Angle went to the well one more time, dragging the motionless Galloway to the middle of the ring. Kurt Angle went up to the top rope once again. Jeremy Borash was shocked and questioned if Kurt was really going to pull out a Moonsault. Kurt looked behind one last time and dived to the middle of the ring, only for Galloway to roll out of the way at the last second. Kurt rolled around in pain in the middle of the ring, while Galloway pulled himself up by the ring ropes. Kurt eventually made it to his feet, but was clearly exhausted and in serious pain. Kurt turned to Drew Galloway who grabbed him by the head and set up for the Future Shock DDT. Drew’s face moved close into Kurt’s ear and he said something to Angle, before dropping him to the mat head first. Galloway immediately covered Kurt and tightly clasped his arms around the head and leg of Angle. The referee counted the 1… 2... 3!

Winner:
Drew Galloway (in 12:29)

As the bell rang, Galloway made it back up to his knees and struggled back to his feet. The referee raised the arm of Drew Galloway and the referee’s arm on Drew’s back appeared to be the only thing keeping him steady. Drew Galloway takes a moment before going over to Kurt, offering to help him to his feet. Angle is determined to get up on his own - he struggles, but eventually makes it to two feet. Kurt hugs Drew and speaks in his ear. Drew thanks Angle for whatever he has said. Galloway points to the Birmingham crowd and on behalf of everyone thanks Kurt Angle. Drew Galloway shakes the hand of Kurt and leaves the ring, allowing him to take in the reception of an Impact Wrestling audience for one last time. Angle is clearly emotional as Jeremy Borash pays tribute to “the most important figure in the history of this company”. Pope calls Kurt Angle a professional wrestling institution and says the business will be worse off without him. Borash calls this the end to a monumental era in the history of Impact Wrestling. He says that having known Kurt for ten years and it will be a strange atmosphere in the locker room without him. As he says this, a number of the Impact Wrestling roster make their way to the top of the ramp. This includes Bobby Roode, Davey Richards, Lashley, Rockstar Spud, Matt Hardy and many more.

Next week Impact Wrestling is live on the Pop Network broadcasting from New York City! The Pope calls upon the Impact Wrestling roster to take a look at the legacy that Kurt Angle has created… it’s up to them to set new levels in this business. With the promotion out of the way, Kurt is shown taking in his final few moments in the Impact Wrestling ring...

Impact Wrestling Welcomes a NEW Chief of Staff!

Last week, following dissension from Jessie Godderz, EC3 requested his “Aunt Dee” found him a permanent “personal assistant”. Dixie had other ideas and informed Carter that a new “Chief of Staff” would debut at the Lockdown Special. Throughout the week, Dixie Carter has dropped hints as to who the new person in charge could be, claiming that this person has “previous experience” and will bring a “raw attitude” to the product.

<hr>
Edwards/Richards

Despite starting the year as Champions, tension soon rose between The Wolves. When Eddie Edwards beat Kurt Angle in controversial fashion, Davey Richards sided with Kurt Angle. As a result, Eddie described Davey Richards as “unloyal” and claimed that Davey lacked a “winner’s mentality”. Following a loss to Kurt Angle, Eddie Edwards once again went on the offensive against Davey Richards - moments before they defended their Championships. The Wolves lost to The New Rising, with Eddie placing the blame solely on Davey Richards. By now Davey had decided enough was enough, he pushed Eddie Edwards to the mat before telling him that he was more than willing to beat this new attitude out of Edwards. Eddie refused to back down, and tonight Davey Richards will call out Eddie Edwards for a one on one match!

<hr>
Champion in Lockdown: EC3 vs Lashley

When Impact Wrestling debuted on the Pop Network, the first match of the new era saw Lashley go one on one with Ethan Carter III. While Ethan Carter gained victory (following interference from the returning Bram) and went on to win the tournament, it was clear the problems between the two were just beginning. With Lashley sidetracked by Bram, Ethan Carter took on the challenge of Jeff Hardy and was successful. However, EC3 methods only added fuel to Lashley’s fire and in the UK this rivalry exploded.

With Lashley breathing down the neck of EC3, the World Heavyweight Champion set every last one of his men on Lashley, including some of UK’s toughest talent. Lashley somehow came out the other end, fending off Dave Mastiff, Rampage Brown, Jessie Godderz, Eli Drake, Micah, Tyrus AND the aforementioned Bram. The Path of Destruction left in Lashley’s wake meant that there was no doubt who would be the next challenger to EC3. With a Steel Cage barring anyone from interfering in the match, Lashley clearly presents the biggest threat of EC3’s Championship reign so far...

Loved the post-show write-up. Good stats to look at, and I really like how you're using TJP as himself and Manik. That's an option I never really saw as a possibility, but something I would've done. Glad he resigned :)

The opening video package, contrasts live scenes of the landscape and sights of New York City, with the action of Impact Wrestling! Tonight - Live on the Pop Network - Ethan Carter III will
finally
defend his World Heavyweight Championship against “The Destroyer” Lashley. Footage is shown of Lashley running through Bram, Tyrus, Micah, Eli Drake and Jessie Godderz - finally coming face to face with the Champion. The video package ends with the moment Lashley made contact with EC3, Spearing him in the middle of the ring!

With the Live Cameras rolling, the show begins with “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero in the ring. He is surrounded by the Lockdown Steel Cage structure! The Pope introduces the show to the crowd telling them they are live on the Pop Network! He promotes a “pay-per-view quality” Lockdown card including an X Division Xscape Match, Davey Richards vs. Eddie Edwards and EC3 vs. Lashley - for the World Heavyweight Championship! Dinero is getting a little claustrophobic in the cage and wants to keep things going rolling, so he’s ready for the opening match, a 4 on 4… Lethal Lockdown! The Pope leaves the ring as the music of Drew Galloway hits.

With the only present member of the team being Drew Galloway, for the moment they were dubbed “Team Galloway”. There wasn’t this confusion surrounding the other team - it was very clear these men all represented EC3. Micah was the first out and he and Drew were straight at it. Clearly their match in London didn’t quite “clear the air” between the two. The two men fought for the first two minutes, apparently neither aware of who would be out next. Unsurprisingly, it was a member of Team Carter - Micah’s tag team partner - Eli Drake.
[2:00]

Former members of Drew Galloway’s “The Rising”, Eli & Micah were no strangers to their opponent and their experience as a Tag Team showed, with Drew struggling to get in any offence in. Thankfully, he only had to endure 90 seconds of this 2-on-1 situation, when the next member of his team arrived.
[3:30]

As is often the case in this type of match, a new entrant generally signals a period of control for the team with the fresh man. This was no different as Mr. Anderson saved Galloway and began to lay into Drake and Micah. However, before the 90 seconds were up, Eli Drake & Micah were back in control - as the next member of Team Carter arrived.
[5:00]

As Bram entered the fold, things turned from bad to worse for Drew & Anderson. While The New Rising had done well on their own, Bram felt his direction was needed as he went between the two, giving occasional digs to Drew and Anderson. When it was time for the odds to be evened, Bram stood waiting - ready for the third member of the opposition.
[6:30]

Bobby Roode enters straight into a brawl with Bram. He leads the charge of the comeback that sees Drew Galloway and Mr. Anderson manage their first offence for a relatively long period of the match. Of course, as is the nature of the match, soon their momentum was stopped dead…
[8:00]

The monstrous Tyrus quickly made his presence felt, and despite Drew, Anderson and Roode all taking shots at him, he stood tall, with a sea of bodies at his feet. Tyrus regrouped his team and then simply maintained the situation, laying into their opponents when necessary, awaiting the final entrant.

Drew Galloway, Mr. Anderson, Bobby Roode & Matt Hardy vs. Team Carter (The New Rising, Bram & Tyrus)

The “Lethal Lockdown” officially began as soon as Matt Hardy stepped foot in the ring. The victor would come from the first pinfall or submission, and weapons were legal. The New Rising, Bram and Tyrus stared down Matt Hardy, who found himself entering into a 4-on-1 situation. With the focus on Matt Hardy - Galloway, Anderson and Roode regrouped behind Team Carter, each taking a weapon hanging from the cage. This allowed the anti-Carter faction to take control of the match with Drew’s Steel Chair, Roode’s Trash Can and Mr. Anderson’s Kendo Stick taking the fight to Team Carter.

Meanwhile, Bram and Matt Hardy began an intense brawl across the ring with Matt throwing Bram into the side of the Steel Cage. As it continued, the match fell more and more into the favour of Matt Hardy’s team, and eventually only Bram was left standing. Bram picked up a chair and wanted to go out swinging. He hit Anderson in the gut and followed up with a shot to the side and then back of Bobby Roode. As Bram turned, he was hit with a Discus Lariat from Drew Galloway. Bram staggered backwards and into a Twist of Fate from Matt Hardy. Tyrus began to stir, but Galloway dealt with him - hitting a Running Single Leg Dropkick to keep him down. Galloway remained vigilant as Matt Hardy pinned Bram for the victory!

Winners:
Bobby Roode, Drew Galloway, Matt Hardy & Mr. Anderson (in 16:45)

Following the match, the winning team stand tall in the ring.

Cutting to the back we see Ethan Carter watching a TV monitor. He is clearly disappointed to see his team lose and puts his head in his hands. As he continues to watch the live feed of the ring, he receives a call. He asks the person on the other end (presumably Dixie Carter) where this “Chief of Staff” is. EC3 says his dressing room still isn’t ready and he’s got a Main Event match to prepare for. Carter listens to the other side of the call, responding that whoever he is, he’d better be here soon because he hasn’t made a great first impression so far. Carter looks at his watch and says that if this guy is any later he’s going to give him a piece of his mind. As Carter says that, a man appears from the right of the screen.

Ethan Carter is surprised to see the man, he says “aren’t you… and didn’t you used to…?” The man replies “the name is BEEF… and yes, I’ve done this before”. Carter says he thought his name was Bra… BEEF puts his index finger on the lips of Carter to stop him speaking - EC3 finds this strange. BEEF breaks the fourth wall, looking directly into the camera. He shrugs and says “it’s BEEF now…” Carter is confused, he asks BEEF “who are you talking to?” BEEF turns back to Carter and says with a smile: “you’re talking to the new Chief of Staff.” BEEF then walks off screen, leaving Carter justifiably confused by the interaction.

<hr>

This is followed by a black and white vignette. Only seen from the legs down, two men are shown walking down the streets of New York City. Eventually we see the men’s faces…

Both men have been seen before on Impact Wrestling, but appeared very different. The man on the left, wears a black waistcoat and a top hat. He walks with a cane. The man on the right wears an open leather jacket and a headband. Despite being outside, both men are topless. The men introduce themselves as “BJ Myers” and “Trenton Lock”. They are “The King of Queens” and they are coming to Impact Wrestling...

With six Knockouts in the ring at the same time, chaos was promised and they delivered. While the match didn’t go on too long, the women all took a hell of a beating and the ending came down to Madison Rayne and Taryn Terrell. Terrell took control and Gail Kim tried to help Rayne, but she was taken out by Jade. Terrell hit a running cutter to pick up the victory over Madison Rayne.

Winners:
The Dollhouse (in 5:30)

BEEF is seen at the TV monitor previously occupied by EC3. Carter - who has been looking for BEEF - finally find him, in the exact spot he last saw him. Carter says that the pleasantries are out of the way, he wants to know what BEEF’s “ideas” are. BEEF. BEEF tells Carter that he thinks the Knockouts are just great, but he’s got the perfect addition to spice things up! Carter says that’s all well and good, but he means
“ideas”
... for the Main Event. Carter faces Lashley tonight and he wants to know what BEEF has planned to ensure the Main Event “goes to plan”. BEEF says not to worry about that, he’s sure the Main Event will run smooth as a whistle… BEEF once again walks off and EC3 is bemused by this man’s behaviour.

<hr>

Eddie Edwards is approached by Davey Richards. Davey says that he didn’t want it to come to this and he is sad that it did. Richards hopes that tonight’s match gives them both some perspective. Eddie Edwards isn’t receptive to Davey’s peace offering and ignores him. Davey says that if Eddie doesn’t want to do this, he won’t call him out. The only reason he is doing this is becayse he wants them to be a team again. Davey asks Eddie what he thinks he should do? Eddie looks up and asks Davey if he wants his advice. Davey does… Eddie asks him why he doesn’t go and ask his good friend Kurt. Davey is exasperated with Eddie’s childish attitude and leaves the locker room.

Andrew Everett vs. Manik vs. Mark Andrews vs. Pepper Parks vs. Tigre Uno vs. Trevor Lee

The rules to the X Division Xscape are as follows: the match is contested under elimination rules. Elimination can take place by pinfall or submission. Once two X Division athletes remains, the match is won by escaping the Steel Cage. With six men in the ring, the action was all over the place to begin with and it took some big moves from Manik and Tigre Uno to slow it down. From there, Manik and Tigre Uno - who are developing quite the professional rivalry, took center stage and began to fight back and forward. From here the first elimination came, when Manik hit a Crossbody to Tigre Uno, Trevor Lee lurked behind him and scored a roll up against Manik for the 1… 2… 3! Not long after, the debutant Pepper Parks found himself eliminated, following a Shooting Star Press from Mark Andrews.

The match continued, and it was clear the alliance between Andrew Everett and Trevor Lee was going to have some effect on the outcome of the match. Andrews and Tigre Uno fought valiantly, but soon began to be picked off by Everett & Lee. Mark Andrews was the next eliminated, following a Leaping Double Footstomp and a 630 Senton from Trevor Lee and Andrew Everett respectively.

A handicap situation then arose, one which Tigre Uno did a good job of navigating. He fought out of the situation and floored both men with a Double Dropkick. Uno hit an Enziguri to Trevor Lee before switching his focus to Everett. Soon, Andrew Everett was eliminated with a Sabertooth Splash and had to leave the Cage. Now it came down to the escape and after another Sabretooth Splash, Tigre Uno began to scale the cage. Refusing the leave ringside, Andrew Everett climbed up the outside of the cage and stopped Tigre from leaving. Everett tried to push Tigre Uno down, but soon found himself set up for a Suplex from the top of the cage, with Tigre Uno stood on the top rope. Andrew Everett crashed down to the ring with a sickening thud and Tigre Uno didn’t come off much better. Trevor Lee sat shocked in the corner of the ring and took a moment - like all the other spectators - to sink in what had happened. Looking behind him every step of the way, Trevor climbed up the cage and escaped - picking up a win against the current X Division Champion.

Winner:
Trevor Lee (in 7:44)

Cutting away from Trevor Lee’s celebration, an expensive car is seen entering the parking lot. The camera pans back, showing BEEF and EC3 stood by the entrance of the building. BEEF has led EC3 outside - during his Main Event preparations - and the World Heavyweight Champion is unsure as to why.

BEEF is excited that “they’re here”. Ethan Carter asks BEEF who they are, but BEEF says there’s no time to explain. BEEF invites EC3 to come and greet his guests, saying “Dixie is going to love this”. BEEF opens the car door and out steps Mike Bennett… moments later, Maria Kanellis also exits the vehicle.

BEEF welcomes them to Impact Wrestling, being particularly warm towards Maria Kanellis. As BEEF shows Maria the way to the arena, Mike Bennett and EC3 share a brief staredown. No words are said, but a message is sent as the first hour of a Live Impact Wrestling Special closes…

<hr>

The second hour Impact Wrestling begins with a pre-taped sit down interview with Kurt Angle. The interview is conducted by “The Professor” Mike Tenay. Kurt and Tenay chat about some of Kurt Angle’s greatest matches and opponents in Impact Wrestling and Tenay asks Kurt what his plans for the future are. The conversation then turns to the future of Impact Wrestling. Kurt Angle says that over the past couple of year’s Impact Wrestling has filled up with some great young talent. During his retirement tour, and even before then. Kurt had the opportunity to face off against some of them and in his opinion, Impact Wrestling is in very safe hands. Angle puts over Davey Richards, EC3, Eddie Edwards, Rockstar Spud and Bram. Kurt Angle reserves special praise for Drew Galloway - the man who beat him in his last ever match. Kurt says that if Lashley can’t get the job done, Drew Galloway is the man he sees as the next World Heavyweight Champion. Angle believes Drew Galloway has the potential to be the next breakout star in the business. As the interview comes to an end we are told that an extended version of the interview can be found on the Impact Wresting website.

<hr>

Back to ringside, a unfamiliar theme song begins to play and the name Michael Bennett appears on the screen. Bennett appears at the top of the ramp and says “behind every great man… is a great woman”. Maria Kanellis’ name appears on the screen and she stands beside her man.

Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis make their way down to the ring, holding hands and generally appearing to be in a bubble of their own. Bennett hands his microphone to Maria Kanellis as she gets set to address the New York crowd… live on Impact Wrestling! She introduces Michael Bennett as “the hottest free agent in the business” and says that everybody already knows Maria Kanellis. She refers to them the biggest power couple in professional wrestling and vows that together they are going to change the landscape of Impact Wrestling. Mike Bennett says that they aren’t just all talk, and soon all these people are going to realise that together… they are unstoppable.

Maria Kanellis says that earlier this week, she got a call from the new “Chief of Staff” and they were personally invited to Impact Wrestling. They have yet to sign anything, but everybody knows that once Dixie Carter sees them on her television show, she is going to write an open cheque to them. Michael Bennett says that they can’t wait to get started in Impact Wrestling, but tonight they’re here as VIP guests of the Chief of Staff and he personally can’t wait to watch Lashley go one on one against EC3. Michael says that he’s seen Ethan Carter in action, and he is rightfully considered the alpha male of Impact Wrestling. Bennett says that EC3 if has set the bar in Impact Wrestling… then they haven’t seen anything yet! Bennett and Maria go to leave, but the music of Bobby Roode hits.

Bobby Roode tells them to hold on, he wants to do this right. Feeling the effects of the Lethal Lockdown match, Bobby Roode enters the ring gingerly. Bennett says they saw his match earlier and props to him, that Chair shot from Bram was nasty! Roode says that he isn’t out here to talk about that match, he wants to welcome “Maria and Mike” to Impact Wrestling!

Bobby Roode says that it’s always great to have new talent come through the door, and their ambitions to “change the landscape of Impact Wrestling” are very admirable, but they need to get one thing straight. Roode says that EC3 isn’t the acid test for an Impact Wrestling Superstar - he is. Bobby Roode says he has been here for 12 years, he’s seen “big stars” come and go. He’s witnessed people make big claims and then amount to nothing. He has also seen guys rise from humble beginning to become the best in this business. Bobby Roode welcomes a new Challenge and tell Michael Bennett that he’ll be more than happy to introduce him to the Impact Wrestling ring, whenever he wants. Roode offers a handshake to Bennett, but he instead goes to leave with his girlfriend Maria Kanellis. As they go to exit the ring Maria remarks that Roode “won’t be much of a challenge” but thanks him none the less. As they make it to the outside, Roode asks if that’s so. He invites Bennett back into the ring, he’s ready to go. Michael tells Roode “we’ll get these contracts signed first…” before leaving up the ramp.

<hr>

After the break, Davey Richards is in the ring. He says that he didn’t expect it to come to this, but something has to change. Richards says that Eddie has been acting strange for the past few months and hasn’t been himself. Two weeks ago they lost their Tag Team Championship and Davey fears that unless they get this out of their systems, they’ll never win them back. Davey reluctantly calls out Eddie Edwards!

Davey Richards offers Eddie Edwards a handshake after the bell is rung. Eddie decide to ignore it, grabbing the hand as if Davey was offering a test of strength. The two tentatively felt the other one out, before they exploded into action in classic Wolves fashion. Bringing their unique wrestling styles to each other, the match was somewhat of a stalemate with the competitors cancelling each other out, such is the pairs familiarity.

Despite their history as a tag team, Davey and Eddie have faced off before and this match was a condensed versions of those classics that they have put on, all around the world. Going back and forth, the intensity and physicality in the match made it feel very different to the usual Impact Wrestling style match up and it appeared that both men were willing to take as much damage as physically - not only to win the match, but also to prove themselves to their partner. Jeremy Borash claimed that to fighters like The Wolves, this could been seen as a form of therapy and help mend their fractured relationship. Pope felt the opposite would be true.

While both men appeared to have done enough to win on several occasions, the ending eventually came following a mistake from Eddie Edwards. Eddie went for a Top Rope Double Footstomp, but Davey moved out of the way. Eddie jarred his ankle in the process and Richards was soon on it, locking in the Ankle Lock that Kurt Angle made Edwards submit to on two separate occasions. Eddie Edwards managed to fight out of it and went for a roll up, but it appeared the damage was done. Davey kicked out and soon Eddie was back up for an attempted a Superkick. Clearly in pain, his injured ankle slowed him down and Davey ducked the kick, rolling up his partner and gaining a flash victory.

Winner:
Davey Richards (in 12:28)

Davey Richards had cleanly beaten his partner, but in doing so had shown the cutting edge that Eddie Edwards has wanted from him - for better or worse - in recent weeks. Eddie is a little coy in the immediate aftermath of the match and Davey offers him a handshake. Eddie was hesitant but eventually accepted the embrace, pulling Davey in and hugging it out. D'Angelo Dinero says that beating the hell out of someone for nearly fifteen minutes is a great way to find a mutual respect for them! He comments that everything they have gone through has been put into perspective by the courageous displays of both men. The Wolves leave the ring together.

Back from commercial, a video package plays recapping Lashley’s “Path of Destruction” on his way to a World Heavyweight Championship match. A compilation of the Spears he has hit to Bram, Eli Drake, Jessie Godderz, Micah, Tyrus, Dave Mastiff and Rampage Brown is shown. Finally we see the terrified look on Ethan Carter III’s face moments before a slow motion replay shows the Spear that Lashley hit him with three weeks ago!

After both men make their way to the ring, it is time for the Big Match Introductions. As Jeremy Borash reads the tale of the tape, EC3 is seen to be growing nervous in the ring. Ethan is looking up the ramp and begins to behave erratically telling JB to “slow down” and to “stop reading so quickly”. Carter eventually snaps, seemingly due to the realisation finally setting in that he may have to fight “The Destroyer” inside a Steel Cage… on his own. Ethan Carter grabs the microphone from JB - who has paused his introduction - and shouts “BEEF! What is going on?” The Pope says that it seems not everything is this company is built to satisfy the desires of EC3, or at least… not anymore!

As he says that, BEEF comes out from the back, to defuse the situation. He asks EC3 to stay calm, he had a bit of business to deal with in the back, but Carter is correct… there is an announcement for this Main Event match - he thanks Carter for being vigilant and bring a halt to proceeding. EC3, previously looking furious, loosens up. BEEF says “sorry Brian [Hebner]” but there is a Special Guest Referee for tonight’s Main Event… he points to the back, but removes his jacket to reveal a referee’s shirt underneath. Brian Hebner is confused and contests the decision but BEEF tells him “don’t worry… I’ve done this before” and flashes a smile at the hard camera. D’Angelo Dinero says that BEEF is as crooked as they come, we all remember what happened last time he refereed a World Heavyweight Championship match!

Lashey isn’t happy with this, complaining to Brian Hebner, but his hands are tied. BEEF tries to calm “The Destroyer” down, telling him that he works for Lashley just as much as he works for EC3 and he promises he’s going to call it down the middle. EC3 is seen smirking in the background. He allows JB to finish the introduction before removing him, and Brian Hebner from the ring. Before BEEF rings the bell, Carter tells him “I like you”.

The late addition of the Special Guest Referee made Lashley suspicious going into this match, but he knew that contesting the decision would be of no use at this stage. Instead, Lashley approached this match the only way he knew how - by attempting to Destroy his opponent. Lashley took the fight to EC3 and it appeared that his antics had finally caught up with the Champion. After a solid few minutes of domination from Lashley, Pope commented that we may be in for one of the most one sided Championship matches in company history.

Eventually, EC3 did make some headway, after a “lucky” push that sent Lashley into the Cage wall. Carter’s spell of control was short however, as Lashley powered out of an attempted One Percenter with a Back Suplex. Lashley then hit a series of Clotheslines to EC3 before stalking him for the Spear. Carter refused to get up, instead making a crawl for the door. Lashley grabbed the leg of EC3 as hung out of the cage, and dragged him back in. From here, Lashley’s dominance continued, he eventually hit the Champion with a Running Powerslam before making a three point stance in the corner of the ring. Ethan Carter III got to his feet and Lashley went for the Spear, Carter jumped over the head of Lashley and looked impressived with himself - only to turn into a Spear from Lashley. The commentators commented the match was over, but the torment Lashley (and others) have been put through over the last few months meant that Lashley hadn’t had enough of Carter.

Lashley picked Carter up and signalled for the finish, positioning EC3 for the Dominator - the move that knocked Eli Drake unconscious last week. As Lashley position to hit the move in the middle of the ring. Special Guest Referee BEEF put his arms in front of him, signalling for Lashley to stop.

BEEF then dropped to his knees and hit a Low Blow to Lashley, causing him to drop EC3. Carter rolled Lashley up and BEEF positioned himself so that his weight was on the legs of Lashley - making him unable to kick out of an incredibly fast count.

Winner:
Ethan Carter III (in 10:47)

Ethan Carter is helped to his feet by BEEF, and the Guest Referee raises his arm in the middle of the ring. Soon, Lashley begins to stir and BEEF leaves the ring, advising EC3 to do the same. BEEF put the padlock back on the cage door, before putting his head down and making a beeline for the back. Knowing that there will be a mob waiting for him, a security team quickly surrounds BEEF - proving the pre-planned nature of this “screwjob”. Ethan Carter holds his World Heavyweight Championship (from the safety of the ramp) in the air, as the caged Lashley blows his top in the ring. Lashley pulls on the cage door, desperate to get to the assailants - to no avail. The Live Impact Wrestling Special ends with a furious Lashley, practically foaming at the mouth, vowing: “I’m going to get you Carter!”

Impact Wrestling on Pop! Episode #014 [Preview]

Off the back of the controversy surrounding last week's live Impact Wrestling special, new Chief of Staff "BEEF" will have quite the time trying to appease an already disgruntled roster - none more so than the man he lowblowed, on his first night on the job, Lashley!

With strong backlash to his actions surfacing throughout the week, BEEF released the following statement, ahead of this week's show.

"My focus is and always will be on doing what is best for Impact Wrestling. I am somebody who firmly believes that as human beings we must live in the now. As such, my sole focus this week has been on organizing another exceptional episode of Impact Wrestling. However, due to the demands of the public, and of my locker room, I shall make a statement in the ring this week. This will be the last said on the matter and I implore everybody involved - including Lashley - not to focus on the negative, but on the positives - the bright future of this Television show.

My actions last week were my own, and should not reflect on Impact Wrestling, or of any of the talent roster. I have been assured that I maintain the full backing of Dixie Carter and will continue to do my job to the best of my ability."

Amidst the controversy, Chief of Staff BEEF has still been able to solve a number of talent related issues and this week, Mahabali Shera will finally get a opportunity at revenge on the man who attacked him, in the UK, Eric Young. Laura Dennis will also have another chance to prove herself, as she faces Taryn Terrell.

Elsewhere - one of the most vocal opponents of BEEF's actions last week - Rockstar Spud, will be in action... against Tyrus. Despite suffering broken ribs in his match against EC3 two weeks ago, Rockstar Spud will return to action - way ahead of schedule - under the strict orders of the New Chief of Staff.

Following his heavily promoted arrival last week, Michael Bennett - along with his wife Maria - will make his Impact Wrestling, in-ring debut. While contracts have yet to be signed by Bennett and Maria, BEEF is confident of securing the deal, after a full week of negotiations between "The Power Couple" and Impact Wrestling.

In the Main Event, Impact Wrestling goes extreme! Two months after his brother was fired from Impact Wrestling, Matt Hardy will finally get the chance of retribution against one of the key orchestrators of Jeff's depature - Bram! While Bram was merely acting on orders of his "boss", he appeared to take particular delight in breaking up the Hardy Boys, and has over the last few weeks has declared his intention to wipe the rest of the Hardy brand from the face of Impact Wrestling. Tonight could be his chance to do just that and with the rule book thrown out of the window, anything could happen... and we mean
anything!

Impact Wrestling on Pop! Episode #014

The show this week doesn’t open with a video package, opening credits or an introduction from the announcers, but with “Chief of Staff” BEEF in the middle of the ring. He stands with his head down for a moment, giving the commentators time to recap his actions last week, when he lowblowed Lashley in the middle of the ring. This allowed Ethan Carter III to retain his World Heavyweight Championship, when all signs were pointing to a title change.

BEEF raises his head and gestures for the crowd to be silent. He says that he knows that everybody here saw what happened in the Main Event last week, and as such, to show a replay of that “incident” would be classless, and would open old wounds… nobody wants that. He personally feels that everybody should just move on... but in the last seven days, he’s been unable to escape the rumblings of the rumour mill. He says that some
unreliable
sources suggesting that he would be out here to apologise and that he would explain his actions to Lashley. That is not the case. BEEF says that he is contracted to Impact Wrestling and the person who signs his cheques is the only person he answers to.

He doesn’t answer to Brian Hebner. He doesn’t answer to Lashley. And he doesn’t answer to the fans. BEEF answers
only
to Dixie Carter.

BEEF says that last week was the beginning of Impact Wrestling being built in his vision. He says that if these people want honesty from him, they’ll get it… BEEF says that he didn’t think EC3 vs. Lashley was a worthy Main Event… so he decided to spice it up a bit!

Of course, a new man in charge will always brings changes, but there was
no way
he was going to let the beginning of the BEEF Era be punctuated by “someone like Lashley”. BEEF understands, his actions last were not right, and he promises that under no circumstances will he be involved in a match again… but last week, the ends justified the means… and since he’s still here, he clearly hasn’t gone too far, just yet...

As BEEF finishes his sentence, EC3 comes out and makes his way to the ring. Carter apologises for being a little late to the party, but he’s slightly confused. He heard BEEF say that he answers to nobody apart from Dixie Carter, but surely BEEF can read between the lines. What’s good for Ethan, is good for Impact Wrestling. Last week, BEEF was clearly way out of line, under
any
circumstances he should’ve been out on his ass, but he helped Carter. EC3 says that BEEF needs him on side, because he’s the only reason BEEF isn’t out of the door already!

BEEF laughs, he thinks EC3 is joking. He is not. BEEF tells Ethan that like any good “Chief of Staff” he’s been on the phone with his boss - Dixie Carter - all week. They’ve talked about a lot… she said what a great show they put on together last week, she said how excited she is by Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis debuting - and of course, they talked about this week’s show. But in BEEF’s recollection, EC3’s name was barely mentioned… Ethan doesn’t like this and denies its plausibility. But whether Dixie says so or not… BEEF will answer to “his Champion”.

Seeing that Ethan has become confrontational, BEEF tries to calm him down, telling him that he doesn’t want to get off on the wrong foot with him. After all, they both share the same forward thinking vision for Impact Wrestling. He says that EC3 wants to become the greatest World Heavyweight Champion of all time, and - at the moment - BEEF believes that Carter is “the man” to represent his brand on a global scale.

Ethan Carter doesn’t like the use of “at the moment” but agrees with BEEF’s point, Carter says that the likes of Lashley don’t belong on morning television shows, or making media appearance around the World. EC3 says that BEEF needs him as Champion. BEEF begins to tell Carter that “[he] wouldn’t say [he]
needs
[him]”, but stops when he spots Lashley making his way to the ring.

With no music, Lashley got close to the pair, but they both spotted him at the last minute - leaving in a panic from opposite sides of the ring. As soon as Lashley reached the ring, BEEF and EC3 stopped on the ramp. Lashley took a step forward and both men continued up the ramp, not looking back until they were out of sight. Lashley stands in the ring - still furious about last week - and takes the microphone that was left in the ring. Lashley says that “someone like him” shouldn’t be Champion? He wants to know what BEEF means by that… does BEEF mean someone who won’t back down from a fight? Does BEEF mean somebody who hasn’t been handed everything on a plate? Or does BEEF mean somebody who could kick both his and EC3’s asses at the same time? Lashley had the Championship won last week and he isn’t going to stop until he gets it in his hands! Lashley drops the microphone and storms to the back.

<hr>

After the break, the Tag Team Champions are in the ring. Eli Drake and Micah - The New Rising, await their challengers when the arena lights dim and the focus switches to the screen. On the screen we see a vignette. In black and white, two men are seen walking through streets that locals will recognise as being in the vicinity of the building. The two men reach a door, they look at each other and nod. The door opens and they step into the building. As the door slams behind them, the screen goes blank. The arena lights come up and two men stand on the ramp.

The man on the left is dressed in a leather waistcoat and is wearing a top hat. He is wearing black and gold long tights and carries a cane. The man on the left wears a headband and an open leather jacket. He also has black and gold long tights. The man introduced last week as “BJ Myers” announces that he and “Trenton Lock” are royalty around these parts and everybody knows who they are. “Trenton Lock” adds that they are are shot in the arm that the Tag Team Division needs and they both will ascend to the throne, as the Kings… of Queens!

With The Kings of Queens being a new team in Impact Wrestling, it took The New Rising a while to adjust to them. Lock and Myers were in and out, displaying the understanding of a much more seasoned Tag Team. After the initially impressive spell from The Kings, The New Rising soon found themselves in control of the match, isolating the newcomer Trenton Lock. They then set to work on taking BJ Myers out of the equation, with both men knocking him off the ring apron.

With Lock prone, The New Rising went for the “Rise & Fall”. Just in time, BJ Myers came in and threw Eli Drake out of the ring, pulling Lock down to safety. From here, Micah was in a two on one situation and following a Shining Wizard from Trenton and a Heat Seeking Elbow Drop from Myers, The Kings of Queens got the victory.

Winners:
The Kings of Queens (in 5:45)

Having beaten the current Tag Team Champions in their debut, The Kings of Queens celebrated. The Pope at ringside was quick to suggest that they have put themselves in the mix for a Tag Team title shot - from one match! Borash did remind him that The Wolves might have something to say about that, given they haven’t taken their rematch yet, and after last week they seem to be back on the same page… this segued into a video package...

The video package takes us back to last week and the match between Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. After a hard hitting contest, Davey Richards picked up the victory with a Roll Up. Following the match, the two shook hands and it appeared they were set to put their differences behind them…

Matt Hardy cuts a promo in the back, ahead of his Main Event match with Bram. Hardy recaps everything that he has gone through in the last six months. At Bound for Glory, he achieved a lifelong dream and became the World Heavyweight Champion, only to have it cruelly snatched away. He then reached the final of the Tournament to crown the new Champion and was robbed at the last hurdle. Then there is what happened to his brother… while Micah hit the decisive blow, Matt will never forget the role EC3 and Bram played, in his brother losing his job!

EC3 and Micah are refusing to face the music, but he will take great pleasure in taking out the second in command tonight. He says he’s sure some of Carter’s cronies will make their presence felt, which is why he’s pleased that it’s No DQ tonight. Matt Hardy says that anything goes, so there no way of knowing what might happen or
who
might show up. Matt ends the promo with a signature gesture of The Hardy Boys, placing his forefinger and his middle finger to the side of his head and sticking out his thumbs.

BEEF is in his “office” and has two envelopes in his hand. He appears to put a contract in each envelope. Before he can seal them, there is a knock at the door. BEEF says “come in… my door is always open.”

Lashley storms into the office and BEEF clearly begins to regret his “open door” policy. Lashley doesn’t say a word and grabs BEEF by his collar, pushing him up against the wall. BEEF is terrified and asks Lashley to calm down. Lashley simply stares at BEEF and it’s clear he’s restraining himself from lashing out. BEEF says he’ll do anything, whatever Lashley wants. Lashley tightens his grip. BEEF tells Lashley that he is just a pawn in this… he tells Lashley that the real mastermind is Ethan Carter. BEEF now claims that it was EC3 that made him do it, he’s the one Lashley should be mad at. Lashley shows no sign of letting up and a now red faced BEEF tells him that next week, he’ll make the match... Lashley vs. EC3, he begs him to let go. Lashley will get a fair shot at Carter, he promises. Lashley releases his grip of BEEF’s throat and pushes him down into his chair. Lashley then leaves the locker room having got what he wanted without saying a word!

BEEF lets out a sigh of relief and tries to get his breath back. Before he can regroup, his phone begins to ring… it’s Dixie. BEEF - struggling for breath - tells Dixie that everything is under control, but his voice tells another story. He tells her everything fine and listens to what she has to say… he suddenly becomes concerned. He tells Dixie that he know she’s the boss, but “tonight isn’t a good night, he’s got enough to deal with [...] he’s on his way? [...] does Ethan know? [... ] *sigh* yes, I’ll let him know” BEEF hangs up the phone and sighs again, looking concerned… we leave him we leave him contemplating his next move…

The commentators say that Matt Hardy has eluded that anybody could show up, and now Dixie tells BEEF that someone is on their way… they wonder who is could be that BEEF (and seemingly Ethan Carter) doesn’t want here tonight.

Taryn Terrell felt she had a lot to prove going into this match, and she was particularly vicious in her offence. Dennis also gave a good showing, but was definitely a step below when it came to motivation. Taryn Terrell - who believes she should be the “Mainstream Face” of Impact Wrestling - won the match in convincing fashion with a Running Cutter.

Winner:
Taryn Terrell (in 5:11)

After the match, Terrell take a microphone. She says that she is the greatest knockout of all time and if the new Chief of Staff wants to improve this division, he should look no further than putting her on top. Taryn Terrell says that if Maria Kanellis wants to join in, she is more than welcome - but she’ll have to go through her first!

Rockstar Spud is interviewed ahead of his match with Tyrus later tonight. Spud says that Tyrus is bigger and stronger than him, but it isn’t about the size of the dog in the fight… it’s the size of the fight in the dog. Last month, when he won the Battle Royal, he proved that size isn’t everything - it’s what you do with it that counts! Spud is then asked about BEEF. Rockstar Spud says he doesn’t like him one bit. Spud says it’s nothing to do with him making him face Tyrus tonight either… it’s because he isn’t half the “Chief of Staff” that Spud was!

<hr>

Ethan Carter III is seen pacing in the back, looking at his phone. He appears to be waiting for someone. BEEF appears and EC3 - thinking he is someone else - turns around with a smile, only to be disappointed to see BEEF.

BEEF laughs awkwardly and tells EC3 there’s just a couple of things to run by him… he tells EC3 that he’s going to be in action next week. EC3 asks who against? He tells BEEF that he trusts that he’ll be selective in picking his opponents, they do have an understanding, right? BEEF decides to avoid the question, telling Carter he has something more urgent to tell him. Before he tells him, he wants Ethan to know that this decision was made over his head. BEEF had a call from Dixie earlier and she’s decided to bring…

Before BEEF can finish his sentence, Carter receives the call he’s been expecting and he quickly answers his phone. Ethan is talking to Bram and tells him that he needs him here way before the Main Event, telling him that “[he] doesn’t give a damn about traffic, [bram] needs to be here”. Carter reminds Bram they have important business to sort out before the Main Event and puts the phone down. Carter tells BEEF that if he gets any more bad news tonight, it might just push him over the edge. EC3 then asks what Aunt Dee had to say on the phone... he sure it’s all good. BEEF tells him not to worry about it, he’ll sort it. EC3 demands BEEF tells him but he’s gone. Carter appears exasperated and doesn’t even attempt to follow the elusive Chief of Staff.

No stranger to being the underdog, Rockstar Spud’s resolve has been tested time and time again in recent months. Despite failing to become the World Heavyweight Champion, Rockstar Spud came out of the UK tour with his pride - if not all of his bones - in tact. Notable from the opening bell was that Spud’s ribs were bandaged, apparently due to the nasty fall he took to the outside during that match with EC3. From the off, the odds were against Spud but he valiantly took the fight to Tyrus. His bright start was short lived.

Soon, Tyrus began to zone in on the injured ribs, using a series of slams and a bearhug to wear down Rockstar Spud. Spud refused to go down without a fight, and there was a brief moment where he appeared to stand a chance. After kicking out of a Chokebomb, Rockstar Spud began to fight back. Eventually, he went for the Underdog, but found himself slammed to the ground as Tyrus stayed firm. Spud struggled to his feet and was hit with a Lifting ICU Throat Spike by Tyrus. Tyrus then dragged Spud towards the corner and went to the second rope. Tyrus hit a Splash, crushing the injured ribs of Rockstar Spud and gaining the victory.

Winner:
Tyrus (in 7:43)

After the match, Tyrus leaves up the ramp. Rockstar Spud, in considerable pain, stays in the ring, but struggles to get back to his feet. As he props himself up on the bottom turnbuckle, BEEF comes to the top of the ramp.

BEEF says that he’s heard that Rockstar Spud isn’t impressed with with the new “Chief of Staff”. He says that’s fine, because he’s not impressed with Rockstar Spud. Of the two of them - unfortunately for Spud - only BEEF’s opinion counts. He says that while he has been bringing in some top talent to the company, he has also been thinking about some of the stale talent that he could show the door. BEEF says that he is evaluating the entire roster and he expects much better from Spud in the coming weeks… he sees that “The Rockstar” has very high standards, so he can expect to be pushed to his limits!

<hr>

Hour two of the show begins with Drew Galloway making his way down to the ring. Drew Galloway touts the success of the show last week,. He says that The Carter Family might be doing everything they can to protect certain people, but the people of New York can see straight through the BS and won’t buy what those in charge are trying to shove down their throats.

Drew Galloway says that at the Lockdown Special he teamed with Bobby Roode, Mr. Anderson and Matt Hardy to beat Team Carter, but tonight he’s out here to talk about something else from last week. Drew Galloway recalls the sit down interview that Mike Tenay conducted with Kurt Angle. During the interview, Kurt referred to Drew Galloway as “the future of Impact Wrestling” and “a future World Heavyweight Champion”. Drew Galloway says that if Kurt Angle sees it, then he can have no doubt. Drew says that he has always known he would achieve his dreams, and Angle’s support makes him even more determined to do so. Galloway makes it clear, that from this point on, his focus is on becoming the next World Heavyweight Champion of Impact Wrestling!

Eric Young comes out to the ring, the commentators say he has a match up next and he must have got tired of waiting. EY tells Drew Galloway that he is a fraud. Everybody is going around saying that Kurt Angle “passed the torch” to Drew Galloway in his last match in Impact Wrestling, but Drew beating him proved nothing! EY says that Kurt’s Retirement Tour was a joke and should have never happened. The only reason Drew beat Kurt is because last year he snatched the torch from Kurt Angle. Young say that he killed what was left of the real Kurt Angle at Bound For Glory. EY says he should go down as the man who ended Kurt Angle, not Drew Galloway! He tells Drew Galloway to get out of the ring because he has match. Drew obliges but says he might pull up a chair and watch him in action.

Having Shera Shaked his way down to the ring, it was all business for Mahabali Shera once he entered the ring. After the attack on Robbie E & himself two weeks ago, Shera requested this match but was clearly out of his depth. EY quickly took control of the match and pinned Shera, following an Elbow Drop from the top rope.

Winner:
Eric Young (in 2:32)

After the match, Galloway got up from his seat at ringside and applauded EY’s performance. Young told Drew that he would have no problem doing that to him!

Maria Kanellis & Mike Bennett are in their private locker room. There is a knock on the door and BEEF comes in with two envelopes in his hand.

BEEF hands them the contracts and tells them that Dixie Carter has certified the final offer and they’ve got the deal they wanted. He welcomes them both aboard with a handshake to Bennett and a kiss on the cheek of Maria. BEEF says that tonight Michael Bennett will make his in-ring debut, but BEEF has a plan for a huge ceremony in the ring - his first official signings! He can’t wait, he wants a red carpet, an oak table and a executive chair. As BEEF continues to lay out the plan - behind him - Maria and Benett have taken the contracts out of the envelopes and signed them. BEEF turns to them and says “The Maria Kanellis and Michael Bennett Contract Congregation… what do you…” before he can finish, Bennett hands BEEF the contracts and says “Done!” BEEF is clearly disappointed not to have his over-the-top Sports Entertainment ceremony, but is nonetheless happy to have the pair signed. BEEF tells Bennett that his debut match will be against Pepper Parks!

<hr>

Bram is seen arriving at the building, he is met by The New Rising - Ei Drake & Micah. The cameraman goes to ask Bram a question but he tells them to shut up. Looking down the camera lens, with Drake & Micah on either side of him, Bram sends a message to Matt Hardy. He tells him that tonight anything goes and he won’t stop until he has been through everything that he can come up with in his twisted mind. He plans to mutilate Matt Hardy tonight and leave him in a pool of his own blood!

<hr>

Laura Dennis is seen stood outside a toilet cubicle. She tells “Pepper” that tonight is his big chance and he can’t let it slide because of a few nerves. The door opens, and Michael Bennett’s opponent sticks his head out.

Dennis tells Parks that he is usually so confident and they both know how good he is. Pepper appears to be calming down when Laura says “what’s the worst that could happen?” Pepper’s takes a moment to consider the question and having thought of “the worst”, decides to run away. Dennis grabs him and tells him he has to do this… she says that Michael Bennett and Maria don’t have to be the Impact Wrestling power couple, it could be them!

<hr>

Maria cuts a promo in the ring promoting the debut of her husband. She says tonight that the people in this building, and all of those watching at home are on the ground floor for the beginning of a new Legacy in Impact Wrestling. She says that Michael will beat everyone put in front of him and he won’t stop until he is the World Heavyweight Champion!

Mike Bennett clearly took his opponent lightly and Pepper Parks did his best to take advantage of this, despite his obvious nervousness. With Laura Dennis willing him on at ringside, he showed a determination to pull off an upset, but this match was really about Michael Bennett.

Mike Bennett controlled the vast majority of the match, using the time when Pepper was down to taunt the crowd or to pay attention to his wife. One such occasion, as Maria stood on the ring apron, Laura Dennis pulled her down from the apron and Pepper rolled Bennett up from behind. Parks got a two count but this sprung Bennett back into action. For the rest of the match, he remained focussed on finishing Parks off, eventually making him submit to The Anaconda Vice.

Winner:
Mike Bennett (in 5:37)

BEEF and EC3 are watching the aftermath of Bennett’s victory. BEEF has a smile on his face, EC3 is less impressed. Ethan asks BEEF if he’s sure that this guy is the future… telling BEEF to let him know when he’s beating the like of Dewey Barnes and Norv Fernum… BEEF says that gives him an idea, and as a reward he is sending EC3 home early. He says that EC3 has earned it. This is completely out of the blue and Ethan Carter is confused, asking BEEF if he’s trying to get rid of him? BEEF laughs, unconvincingly saying “of course not...” he just thinks Carter deserves to enjoy himself. Carter says that there is no chance he is going to miss out on his “main man” Bram doing to Matt Hardy, what
he
already did to Jeff. Carter says that after tonight we’ll never have to see either of the Hardy Boys ever again… and that is all the reward he needs. Carter walks off. BEEF looks stressed and double facepalms.

The Pope says that whatever BEEF was supposed to tell Carter, he just made sure it’s going to be a nasty surprise for the World Heavyweight Champion!

<hr>

A recap video is shown of the role Bram played in Jeff Hardy’s departure from Impact Wrestling. We see the moment that Micah drove a Steel Chair into the back of the Jeff Hardy, sealing his fate.

<hr>

Ahead of his Main Event match, Matt Hardy issues a battle cry against Team Carter. He says that Carter and his buddies have destroyed
everybody
in that locker room, time and time again. Matt says that starting tonight, it’s going to be different! Tonight anything goes, that means the rules are out of the window and there is nothing to stop
anybody
, whether they’re in that locker room… or not, from getting involved. Matt Hardy is sure this match won’t remain a one on one for very long, and Bram and The New Rising have promised to spill his blood. Matt says that blood is thicker than water and if Bram gets his fellow mercenaries to get involved in their match, he knows their some - in
this
building who will fight - not for money - but for Matt Hardy!

Bram didn’t even pretend that this match would be one on one at any point, coming down to the ring with The New Rising.

While they didn’t get involved straight away, their presence was clearly a distraction for Matt Hardy. Especially as Micah carried with him the chair that was, apparently, the one he used on Jeff Hardy. Matt Hardy is used to this kind of match, but it appeared that Bram was the more proficient at using weapons and this allowed him to begin to control the match. The presence of The New Rising certainly didn’t help Matt Hardy’s struggle.

Enjoying, Bram’s dominance - Ethan Carter, along with Tyrus, comes to the top of the ramp for a better view.

Bram attempts to keep Matt Hardy down but he will not give up. As Matt Hardy begins to fight back, the look on EC3’s face changes. Carter now concerned that the match could be slipping away, orders The New Rising to get involved. Micah - bringing the chair with him - and Eli Drake begin to lay into Matt Hardy. After they have sufficiently damaged him, Bram lifts Matt to his feet. He orders for Micah to pick up the chair and finish him! Before they can put the metaphorical sword into the back of Matt Hardy, there is a disruption in the crowd. The reaction is such that Bram and The New Rising are distracted. The camera manages to catch the source of this, as a man makes his way to the ring through the crowd…

Jeremy Borash almost immediately recognises the hooded man as Jeff Hardy, whie Pope questions what he is doing here! Pope is confused as to why the “fired” Jeff Hardy is back in Impact Wrestling, but Borash gleefully tells him that anything goes!

Jeff Hardy jumps the Guardrail and enters the ring. The men in the ring drop Matt Hardy to the mat and Micah swings the chair at Jeff Hardy. Jeff ducks and hits Micah with a Twist of Fate, picking up the chair for his own use. Jeff looks at the chair that cost him his job and begins swinging maliciously at Eli Drake. Drake escapes the ring and Bram comes face to face with Jeff Hardy. He can’t believe what he is seeing - Jeff Hardy is back!

EC3 commands Tyrus to go down to the ring, but seeing Matt Hardy getting back to his feet, he declines. Bram swings at Jeff, who once again ducks out of the way and hits Bram in the gut with the chair. Jeff Hardy drops the chair of the mat and spins Bram around. Matt Hardy hits Bram with a Twist of Fate to the Steel Chair and pins him for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner:
Matt Hardy (in 9:45)

After the match, Jeff Hardy raises the arm of Matt Hardy in the middle of the ring. Ethan Carter III at the top of the ramp is incensed that Jeff Hardy is back in an Impact Wrestling ring! Carter shouts for “SECURITY!” but he does not get his way. With nobody to remove Jeff Hardy from the ring, EC3 turns his attention to The Chief of Staff, calling for BEEF to get out here and sort it. Despite his constant presence throughout the night, BEEF is nowhere to be found when Carter ‘needs him’. The show ends with Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy staring down to an isolated Ethan Carter III at the top of the ramp.

Impact Wrestling Review: State of The X Division

Impact Wrestling Review: State of the X Division

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/TNA%20X%20Division%20Championship_zpsammxbhgf.png

The current X Division Championship

Since the inception of Impact Wrestling - then known as NWA: Total Nonstop Action - the X Division has been an integral part of the Impact Wrestling “brand”. From the company's first ever match, The Flying Elvises vs. AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn & Low-Ki, the bar was continually raised by a lineage of impressive X Division athletes. From Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe to Austin Aries and Brian Kendrick, the X Division, while rarely been featured as the “main attraction”, could always be relied on to steal the show.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu132/CewshReviews/Supplements/Lists/Best%20TNA%20Feuds/3way_original_crop_650x440.jpg

AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe - widely considered the best match in Impact Wrestling history!

To Impact Wrestling fans - alongside maybe the six sided ring - nothing portrays the “identity” of the company quite like the X Division. Yet over the past few years the division has lacked direction and various attempt to revamp it have gradually eroded the Division down to a series of interchangeable “high flyers”. It would not be unfair to suggest that the X Division, as a staple of the company, is relying on its past glories. In fact, critics and fans alike would likely agree that the once fresh, exciting and progressive X Division has betrayed its roots as a no limits, all action showcase of the best athletes in professional wrestling. The decay of one the of few true defining features of the Impact Wresting brand has only further alienated those people who once considered themselves to be die hard fans of the company.

The current crop: Tigre Uno, Trevor Lee & Manik - all feature prominently in the 2016 version of the X Division

The question is of course, how is a problem like this solved? Numerous attempted “reboots” of the division have had little to no long term effects and as the revolving door of talent continues, there are very few X Division mainstays who fans feel a strong connection to. Whether it is the talent - or those in charge - something needs to change to bring the once vibrant X Division back to prominence in 2016...
