The first of the finals tonight to see who challenges for the respective titles at Crowning Glory X pits a two time former WWE Women’s champion against fellow newcomer Nikita. The match was tight and a good match, both women are skilled competitors and each gave their all with such a big prize at stake. Biggers just about edged the contest in 11:01 by pinfall. 59

Trenesha Biggers has won her first five matches.

Nikita’s eight match winning start has ended.

In the locker room, Rob Van Dam is limbering up for tonight’s Crowning Glory Series Final against Chris Jericho. He is doing flexibility stretches, but he pauses to address the fans via the camera. He says tonight is his night and he is going all the way onto Crowning Glory X to face either Jimmy Yang or hopefully Cade Thesz where he will win the Continental Championship. 58

PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

Drew McIntyre (champion) v Iven Michaud

This was always likely to be close as the latest long reigning Youth champion defends against a former long reigning TV champion. Thankfully the match lived up to expectation and featured some good quality wrestling as the Scot retained the title in 11:59 by pinfall with a G-Spot in the close match that was expected. Drew McIntyre makes defence number 8 of his PSW Youth Championship title. 58

Iven Michaud is improving in technical skills.

PSW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Nora Greenwald v Nattie Neidhart

A solid match up between two of the better female wrestlers in North America. Nattie put up a fight in the title shot she earned in the Little Mix Match Challenge last month at Fans Choice but the champion won with some degree of comfort in 10:04 by pinfall with a Molly Go Round. Nora Greenwald makes defence number 5 of her PSW Women's Championship title. 53

Nora Greenwald has won her last ten matches.

Chris Jericho is in the backstage interview area. He tells Rob Van Dam that while he might think he is going all the way, he has hit a dead end in the form of Chris Jericho. Jericho reminds everyone he won the Crowning Glory Series and then the title last year and he tells everyone history will repeat itself. 84

Jeff Jarrett v Kevin Steen

Many expected Jarrett to win, including the cunning veteran himself. However, he made the mistake of underestimating Kevin Steen, a man who is not a former Youth champion and two time Tag Team champion for no reason. Steen was very much a wake up call for Jarrett and by the time the former country singing star took the match seriously it was too late, the damage had been done. Steen scored somewhat of an upset victory in 13:43 by pinfall with a F-Cinq. 60

John Cena v Lance Storm

Two former Continental champions clash in an intriguing match up of a rising star against a seasoned veteran. Despite Cena’s recent slump since losing the title, his stock in the industry is on the up and he managed to halt his recent slide with a good victory in 12:55 by pinfall with a Spin-out powerbomb. With Lance Storm in the twilight of his career, it is looking increasingly unlikely he will ever get back to the very top level he was once at. 64

Cade Thesz is backstage. He says he has been unstoppable since returning to PSW. Rob Van Dam couldn’t stop him, John Cena couldn’t stop him and the current champion Jimmy Yang won’t stop him tonight. 62

CROWNING GLORY TAG TEAM SERIES FINAL

Chicago’s Finest v Triple X (Red & Daniels, with James Mitchell)

The second Series Final of the night. Former champions looking to get back on top are against a team who have won every match since forming in PSW. This could be great…

Unfortunately it wasn’t, but it was still good. Both teams had spells in the match and both teams scored a number of near falls. It was the former champions who advance to the title match at Crowning Glory X thanks to their win in 15:09 when CM Punk defeated Amazing Red by submission with an Arm Triangle Choke. 63

Triple X’s five match winning start has ended.

PSW CONTINENTAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

To Kijar, With Love (champions) v Londrick

This match continued the trend of good, solid matches without being great. The show has been good so far, but there hasn’t been anything that great, anything with sparkle.

Londrick were dominant champions in the early days of PSW but it is a long time since they last held the belts. A number of other teams have overtaken them in the pecking order and nothing changed here as the champions retained in 13:50 when T.J. Perkins defeated Brian Kendrick by pinfall. To Kijar, With Love make defence number 7 of their PSW Continental Tag Team Championship titles. 64

Matt Sydal is looking a little stale.

Continental champion Jimmy Yang is in the backstage interview area with his title belt around his waist and numbers others in his hands and over his shoulders. He says he heard what Cade Thesz and Yang says that he will stop Thesz tonight as Yang is the “champion of champions”. 65

CROWNING GLORY SERIES FINAL

Rob Van Dam v Chris Jericho

Going all the way or the end of the road for Rob Van Dam?

It was easily the best match of the night (so far..?) as two men who clearly have a lot of respect for each other and have exciting in ring styles put on a great show for the fans. Rob Van Dam came close with his Rolling Thunder and Split Legged Moonsault while Jericho came close with his Springboard Moonsault and Codebreaker.

In the end RVD hit the end of the road and he won’t get the chance for the title match against his former pupil Cade Thesz he craves as it was Jericho who became the second man to win back to back Crowning Glory Series in 23:26 by submission with a Lion Tamer. AJ Styles was the first in 2007/8. He won the title the first time but didn’t the second. Will history repeat itself twice? 81

Chris Jericho has won his last eight matches.

Rob Van Dam’s win streak ends at five.

PSW CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Jimmy Yang (champion) v Cade Thesz

Who expected this to be better than Van Dam v Jericho? Probably not too many. But it was and all credit to both men involved in the match. This was great too, and a bit better than the match before it.

Cade Thesz initially left PSW under a cloud a couple of years ago amid rumours of a poor attitude and being disruptive backstage. If these rumours are true, he certainly has matured and in the ring his ability has clearly developed leaps and bounds. Jimmy Yang on the other hand is the hardest working wrestling active today, he wrestles in eight companies and is currently champion in six of them. His claim of being the ‘champion of champions’ he made earlier is hard to dispute. He is a man that got lost in the huge rosters of WCW and WWE but since leaving them his career has skyrocketed like nobody would have imagined.

This match went back and forth for a few minutes short of half an hour. Both men wrestled with intensity and skill as they battle all around the ring and also threw some aerial action in for good measure. The crowd were lapping it up.

In the end, Cade Thesz’s very impressive run since his return came to a stop. Yang managed to get the better of him to keep the title in 25:10 by pinfall with a Michinoku Driver II. Jimmy Yang makes defence number 3 of his PSW Continental Championship title. Following the conclusion, Yang offered Thesz a handshake as a measure of his new found respect. Thesz turned his back to the victorious champion and walked off. 85 – match of the night
