The last PSW Weekly before Battle for Survival 4 starts in the backstage interview area, where an angry and passionate Chris Jericho vows revenge on John Cena for putting him through a table last week. He says tonight he will kick his ass in the main event six man tag and on Sunday night he will kick his ass and retain his title. 88

Chris Jericho did a masterful job improvising reactions from the crowd.

Amazing Red (0-0-3) v Drew McIntyre (3-0-0)

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Drew McIntyre defeated Amazing Red in 7:32 by pinfall with a G-Spot. 51

Amazing Red has lost his last seven matches.

PSW TV TITLE

Roderick Strong (champion, with James Mitchell) v Alex Shelley

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Roderick Strong defeated Alex Shelley in 9:30 by pinfall with a CX 02. Roderick Strong makes defence number 5 of his PSW TV Title. 54

Roderick Strong has won his last ten matches.

Alex Shelley has lost his last six matches.

John Cena comes out to the ring. He says he is not worried about what Chris Jericho said earlier tonight. Cena says he not only hurt Jericho but he has got inside of Jericho's head by putting him through the table. Cena says he is taking the title on Sunday night. 84

GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION

Colt Cabana (0-0-2) v Keiji Sakoda (0-0-2)

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Keiji Sakoda defeated Colt Cabana in 11:09 by pinfall. 46

Backstage and a wild brawl is occurring between all eight members of Jarrett's Groupies and Hero's Heroes. There is no clear 'winner' as the show goes to commercial break. 30

GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

Matt Sydal (0-0-2) v Randy Orton (1-0-1)

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Randy Orton defeated Matt Sydal in 14:25 by pinfall with an O-Zone. 75

The two have great chemistry and it showed in their performances.

Backstage and James Mitchell has Triple X with him with Christopher Daniels and Low Ki having the National Tag Team Championship and Roderick Strong in possession of the TV Title. Mitchell says they are the strongest group in PSW and nobody is going to stop them in their quest for gold. 36

Chris Jericho (National champion) & New Wave v John Cena & Triple X (Daniels & Ki, National Tag Team champions)

In a match that had some good action and average heat, John Cena and Triple X defeated Chris Jericho and New Wave in 19:02 when John Cena defeated Kevin Steen by pinfall with a Spin-out powerbomb. 80 – match of the night

Pyro goes off around the entrance to the arena and then around the ring. The biggest crowd in PSW history are pumped as Bret Hart's music plays and the Director of Operations strides to the ring, his face with a big smile on it. He climbs into the ring and says it is great to be in Washington DC and it is great to introduce PSW's first ever pay per view. He says PSW is hitting the big time less than nine years since being formed. He finishes by saying he hopes the fans enjoy the great action that PSW has lined up tonight. <strong>77</strong></p><p>

Bret Hart worked the crowd well, using the freedom to improvise to his advantage.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Tag Team Battle for Survival</strong></p><p><strong>

Dragon's Army, Caprice Coleman & Stu Sanders v Spanish Announce Team, Christian York & Joey Matthews</strong></p><p>

The action starts with a Battle for Survival match featuring four tag teams. It was not too long ago that Dragon's Army and Spanish Announce Team feuded over the National Tag Team Championship and they renewed their hostilities here.</p><p>

The match had some really good action, though the crowd were not fully into it. The best action is to come later and it seems they are saving themselves.</p><p>

Stu Sanders was first to be eliminated, when he was pinned by Christian York.</p><p>

York himself went straight away as he was celebrating getting rid of Sanders, thanks to a roll up by Caprice Coleman.</p><p>

Next to go was York's tag team partner Joey Matthews. He went thanks to Iven Michaud.</p><p>

Michaud's partner Iven Lessard then went, pinned by Joel Maximo following a Spanish Fly.</p><p>

Caprice Coleman went the same way, though the pin was by Jose.</p><p>

This left Iven Michaud facing both members of Spanish Announce Team. Things looked bleak, but having not been in the action since pinning Joey Matthews, he was rested. He isolated Jose from Joel and set about his task. He was impressive as he got rid of not only Jose but then also Joel to be the opening contest's sole survivor. <strong>54</strong></p><p><strong>

Survivor: Iven Michaud</strong></p><p>

Christian York and Iven Michaud are improving in rumble skills.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

T. J. Perkins (champion) v Joe Hennig</strong></p><p>

The first of four championship matches saw the stars of the future clash for the Youth Championship.</p><p>

TJP is a very exciting competitor while Hennig has the pedigree and lineage with his father being Perfect.</p><p>

This saw a clash of styles but a good match. Perkins is PSW's sole two time Youth champion and he was able to make a successful defence in 13:01 by submission. T.J. Perkins makes defence number 4 of his PSW Youth Championship title. <strong>55</strong></p><p>

T. J. Perkins has won his last eight matches.</p><p> </p><p>

John Cena comes out to the ring, revelling in the large crowd and the boos that are heard from sections of them. Cena says he made a statement on PSW Weekly when he put Chris Jericho through a table and tonight he will make a bigger one when he beats Jericho to win the National Championship. <strong>86</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Battle for Survival</strong></p><p><strong>

Hero's Heroes (Chris Hero, Austin Aries, Drew McIntyre & Paul London) v Jarrett & His Groupies (Jeff Jarrett, Alex Wright, Keiji Sakoda & Rocky Romero</strong></p><p>

The second Battle for Survival of the night was a little disappointing given the calibre of the wrestlers in the match and that it had some build up to it where the earlier one had none at all.</p><p>

First out was Rocky Romero, courtesy of a Brain Buster by Austin Aries.</p><p>

Drew McIntyre went next to make it three on three when Keiji Sakoda disposed of him.</p><p>

Austin Aries then got eliminated when Jeff Jarrett made him tap out to the Figure Four.</p><p>

Down two on three, Chris Hero nailed a Hero's Welcome on Alex Wright to send the German back to the showers. Odds back even.</p><p>

Paul London went to the back with Sakoda scoring his second elimination.</p><p>

Jeff Jarrett finished the job when he defeated Chris Hero after The Stroke. <strong>59</strong></p><p><strong>

Survivors: Jeff Jarrett & Keiji Sakoda</strong></p><p>

Keiji Sakoda is improving in technical skills.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PSW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Melissa (champion) v Nora Greenwald</strong></p><p>

The fourth bout between these two and as it was the worst one of the four it magnified it's flaws. It also went on for too long. A shame as the women have performed very well since they arrived in PSW and they deserved their place on the pay per view.</p><p>

The match was pretty even until Nora Greenwald accidentally collided with referee Laura Mattano, knocking her cold out. As Nora checked on her, Bruce Gray ran to the ring. Gray slid in, Melissa rolled up Nora and the match was over in 14:08, much to Nora's annoyance who claimed it was a fast count without justification. <strong>20</strong></p><p>

Melissa has won her last five matches.</p><p> </p><p>

Chris Jericho came out to the ring, in a flashing jacket and carrying the PSW National Championship belt. Jericho addressed his challenger for tonight John Cena. Jericho says it is one thing to do a surprise attack and put him through a table, but it is another to beat me for the title and it is going to take a hell of a lot more than putting me through a table to do that. <strong>88</strong></p><p>

Chris Jericho did a masterful job improvising interactions with the crowd.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jimmy Yang v Super Dragon</strong></p><p>

The PSW debut of Jimmy Yang. He's been in WCW and WWE but he's really developed since leaving and is a current champion in no less than five other companies. The PSW fans are clearly excited to see him at Battle for Survival 4 as they are solidly behind him.</p><p>

His debut performance is very impressive as he defeats a former PSW National champion, National Tag Team champion and TV champion in 12:24 by pinfall with a Michinoku Driver II. <strong>83</strong></p><p>

Jimmy Yang has debuted a Fun Babyface gimmick, rated 69.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PSW NATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Triple X (Daniels & Ki, champions, with James Mitchell) v The Wolves</strong></p><p>

The new tag team champions have their first defence. Many question the manner in which they won the titles by showing up announced at PSW Showcase just over a week ago and cashing in Daniels' Feast or Fired briefcase, though some say that is exactly the point of the briefcase – it gives the holder of the case the power to do the unexpected.</p><p>

The match was somewhat disappointing, as were the two time champions The Wolves who didn't put up as much as a challenge as many expected them to. The end of the match arrived in 12:22 when Low Ki defeated Davey Richards by pinfall. Triple X make defence number 1 of their PSW National Tag Team Championship titles. <strong>56</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Battle for Survival</strong></p><p><strong>

Phenomenal Team (AJ Styles, Desperate Measures & Matt Sydal) v Team Ezaki (Eiji Ezaki, Carly Colon, CM Punk & Randy Orton)</strong></p><p>

Although the Grappler's League is having an off night, this was hyped as a Premier Division Battle for Survival with all eight of the competitors being in the Premier Division.</p><p>

First to hit the showers was Carly Colon, courtesy of a Styles Clash.</p><p>

Yoshihiro Tajiri went next when CM Punk made him submit to an Arm Triangle Choke.</p><p>

AJ Styles was pinned after a RKO from Randy Orton, who then quite quickly also got rid of Matt Sydal in the same manner.</p><p>

With a three on one advantage, all Team Ezaki had to do was not do anything stupid. Ezaki was disqualified for smashing a steel chair over Aaron Stevens' head. Stupid man.</p><p>

The damage was done to Stevens though and a Pepsi Plunge by Punk sealed the win in 17:38. <strong>67</strong></p><p><strong>

Survivors: CM Punk & Randy Orton</strong></p><p>

Aaron Stevens and Carly Colon are improving in technical skills.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>ULTIMATE BATTLE FOR SURVIVAL</strong></p><p>

The teams are revealed as the wrestlers make their way to the ring and the survivor(s) will go on to challenge for the National Championship at Lethal.</p><p>

<strong>Christopher Daniels (National Tag Team champion), Brian Kendrick, Roderick Strong (TV champion) & Kevin Steen v Lance Storm, Rob Van Dam, Colt Cabana & Ricky Steamboat Jr</strong></p><p>

The match was good and there was a lot at stake.</p><p>

First to lose his shot at the National Championship was Colt Cabana, who suffered a Steenalizer and was pinned.</p><p>

Former Youth champion Ricky Steamboat was eliminated next after being hit by a Best Moonsault Ever by Daniels and left Lance and RVD at a two on four disadvantage.</p><p>

Lance and RVD had a little team talk in their corner and the two then set about their huge task in a methodical fashion. It worked. A Lance Storm Superkick got rid of the TV champion Roderick Strong.</p><p>

A Five Star Frog Splash had the same effect on Brian Kendrick.</p><p>

Kevin Steen was hit by first a Rolling Thunder and then a Split Legged Moonsault to be pinned and lose his chance at glory.</p><p>

Lance Storm finished a tremendous effort by making Christopher Daniels tap out to the Canadian Cloverleaf, though credit to Daniels for lasting 19:27 in his second match of the night. Lance and RVD celebrated their hard work together in the middle of the ring. <strong>70</strong></p><p><strong>

Survivors: Lance Storm and Rob Van Dam</strong></p><p>

Rob Van Dam looked good.</p><p>

Brian Kendrick and Roderick Strong are improving in rumble skills.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PSW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Chris Jericho (champion) v John Cena</strong></p><p>

The stand out match of the night – only the Yang v Dragon match came remotely close. Cena was looking to take advantage of a slightly weakened champion to take the title, while Jericho was out for revenge for Cena putting him through a contract signing table on a recent episode of PSW Weekly.</p><p>

The crowd was more in favour of the champion, with Cena losing the support of a large portion of the crowd following said incident on PSW Weekly. Both men scored a number of near falls in the match, and both men scrambled to reach the ropes when locked in their opponents submission finisher.</p><p>

The decisive moment in the match came in 33:39 when Jericho took the bout by submission with a Lion Tamer. Chris Jericho makes defence number 4 of his PSW National Championship title. <strong>92 – match of the night</strong></p><p>

Dusty Rhodes did a pretty weak job at the announce desk.</p><p>

Chris Jericho has won his last fourteen matches.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show rating: B+ 84</strong></p><p>

PSW has increased in popularity in eleven regions.</p><p>

Good show. Especially loved the narrative in Battle for Survival. I noticed Daniels was on double duty but thought it was intentional for some reason. :p

Broadcast on America One on Tuesday late evening</p><p>

Announcers: Potter & Dusty Rhodes</p><p>

DC Armory, Washington, DC (10,000 capacity)</p><p>

<img alt="images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRL1yxmBSdyCHsYGasJSqGz8_Fe6KLQ4MIdy0dJ1T2o9InCbKPk" data-src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRL1yxmBSdyCHsYGasJSqGz8_Fe6KLQ4MIdy0dJ1T2o9InCbKPk" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

We start PSW Weekly with Director of Operations Bret Hart in the ring with PSW Owner Potter. Potter says it is time for Bret's performance review. Potter says he is very happy with the job Bret Hart is doing. PSW are making money, PSW are more popular than ever, PSW are on pay per view for the first time and slowly PSW are closing the gap on WWE. PSW has risen from nothing to be a player in the wrestling world in less than nine years. Potter finishes by telling Bret that he can sign top stars that want to come and help us grow yet further. Bret looks delighted. <strong>54</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Matt Sydal & T. J. Perkins (Youth champion) v Motor City Machine Guns</strong></p><p>

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Matt Sydal & T.J. Perkins defeated Motor City Machine Guns in 5:54 when Matt Sydal defeated Chris Sabin by submission. <strong>58</strong></p><p>

Matt Sydal & T. J. Perkins have won their first five matches as a tag team.</p><p> </p><p>

Nora Greenwald is backstage. She is furious with Bruce Gray's “fast count” last night at Battle for Survival 4 when he chose to run down as a replacement referee when Laura Mattano was knocked out in her championship match with Melissa. She demands a rematch. <strong>43</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PSW TV TITLE</strong></p><p><strong>

Roderick Strong (champion) v Caprice Coleman</strong></p><p>

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Roderick Strong defeated Caprice Coleman in 7:58 by pinfall with a CX 02. Roderick Strong makes defence number 6 of his PSW TV Title. <strong>56</strong></p><p>

Roderick Strong has won his last eleven matches.</p><p>

Caprice Coleman has lost fifty singles matches in PSW.</p><p> </p><p>

Bret Hart is in the ring with the National champion Chris Jericho. Bret tells Jericho it is the time of year when Choice of the New Generation is on the horizon, so the Youth champion has the choice whether to hand over his Youth Championship in return for a match to challenge for the National Championship. With that, the Youth champion T. J. Perkins comes to the ring.</p><p>

Jericho tells TJP he has a choice to make. Does he keep his title or does he have that one shot at greatness? That one shot that is going to end in failure. Bret tells Perkins he does not have to decide straight away, but he does need to know before Choice of the New Generation. <strong>63</strong></p><p>

Bret Hart improvised well.</p><p>

Chris Jericho was fantastic.</p><p>

T. J. Perkins looked lost.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE SECOND DIVISION</strong></p><p><strong>

John Cena (2-0-0) v Rocky Romero (1-0-1)</strong></p><p>

In a match that had some good action and average heat, John Cena defeated Rocky Romero in 10:29 by pinfall with a Spin-out powerbomb. <strong>73</strong></p><p>

John Cena looked good.</p><p> </p><p>

Following the match, Cena speaks from the ring. He expresses his anguish at not winning the National Championship and vows that one day sooner rather than later that he will be champion. <strong>80</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION</strong></p><p><strong>

Austin Aries (2-0-0) v Christopher Daniels (2-0-0, National Tag Team champion)</strong></p><p>

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Christopher Daniels defeated Austin Aries in 14:12 by pinfall with a Last Rites. <strong>66</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After commercial and Austin Aries is backstage and has been joined by his New Wave tag team partner Kevin Steen. The two are still smarting at the manner they lost their titles and demand their rematch at Choice of the New Generation. <strong>44</strong></p><p> </p><p>
