Regarding taking a protege, I just go to the ingame editorband make my UC the mentor of someone

That's a good idea - As I'm playing the game as Ric, I have no issue doing that for storyline purposes. Off hand, do you know which way around I need to put the workers in the editor - Mentor first or Protege first?

Randy Savage is attracting attention already, just a few days into his WCW career. Alexandra York had her eyes on the Macho Man before he finished off Tony Falk in short order.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The night’s action began with a Six Man title defence, as the York Foundation challenged Eaton, Rhodes and Blanco with the gold on the line. It was the champions’ night, as Eaton soared high with an Alabama Jam to take the victory. The York Foundation had a happier outcome later in the night, as Thomas Rich handed Jerry Lawler a defeat, albeit one earned courtesy of Alexandra York’s laptop.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Dangerous Alliance seemed to be in a dangerous mood on Sunday night. Shange Douglas’ braggadocio earned him short shrift from Steve Austin, while the remaining members of the Alliance offered to put Arn Anderson’s US title on the line ahead of their eight-man match against the young quartet of Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, Marcus Bagwell and Chris Chavis. The match served as little more than a pretext for the Alliance to beat their opponents down, with Anderson providing an emphatic Spinebuster to Bagwell for the win. Later the Alliance faced down Barry Windham and told him that they’d handed out </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

You could have let him into the ring more during matches, given him the chance to learn in front of the crowds and not just look pretty on the outside.” </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

His voice grew colder as he injected his tone with chilly disapproval.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You did none of that, Shane, and it would have meant a lot to this company to know that it had another seasoned hand on board. Take a look at how Brian Pillman’s managed himself; Similar age, similar experience, similar pretty boy tag team gone bad, similar fortunes... But he knuckled down, did his best every time he went out and now he’s in the middle of the hottest storyline going. That could’ve been you.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Douglas waved dismissively as he seemed to regain some composure.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“He’s a pretty boy, and the fans love seeing him fly around the ring, he-“ </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“He’s one of the best wrestlers in the company. He worked hard, learned his lessons and now he’s reaping the rewards. If the fans love him, it’s because they know what a hard worker he is, and how much he deserves his success. And as for being a pretty boy, well, so what? Good for him – but take a look at someone like Harley Race or Terry Funk and tell me that the fans only support someone who’s ‘pretty’.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ric sat back down in his chair. He fixed Douglas with a chilly look, one met with angry defiance on the part of the younger man.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You have a few nights left on your deal, Shane, and you can work them or not – this was your chance to impress and make a case for being a bigger part of WCW going forward. I must say, right now, I don’t think we’re going to offer you an extension. Marcus has impressed us, as green as he is and as young as he is. You...”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Time to offer an olive branch. The kid has something, if only it could be harnessed.</em></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Olive branch! Well, I know where he can put it! Ric bit back on the response that had leapt to the tip of his tongue, and opted for a less confrontational stance.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You probably need a little more time out on the indies. Try Portland, or that new one in Philadelphia, maybe. The door’s not closed, Shane, not all the way... But you have to know your place and know your role. You’re, what, twenty-six?”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Twenty-seven.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You’re still young, still learning the ropes. I know you and Cactus are old friends, so maybe talk to him about finding the right role and doing everything you can to make yourself indispensable.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You want me to be another Cactus?” Douglas asked in surprise.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“No, not another stuntman,” Ric replied, waving his hand dismissively. “We have Cactus for that, we don’t need another one. But he fills a role, someone to do the crazy stuff. What role do you fill, Shane? What role can you fill? If we bring you back in a few months or a year, what can you do in front of the cameras to make it worth our time and yours? And what can you do backstage to keep this place running smoothly – now, and into the future?”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Douglas for once was silent as he considered Flair’s words.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“When you find the answer, let us know. But don’t take too long, kid; WCW is going places, and it’s up to you whether or not you want to be a part of that.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

WCW Saturday Night

Sting vs. The Great Muta

i feel like Sting needs the victory more

Lex Luger vs. Larry Zbyszko

Going against my feelings and picking the spud head to beat the living legend

The Special Forces vs. The Calgary Connection © – WCW United States Tag Team

Tough call here as the Special Forces have done little, but we have to drop the tag champs eventually since it is not working for them. The question is when but with the Patriot’s “inspiration” I’ll grudgingly go with the challengers here

Beat the Champ: Ron Simmons © vs. Thomas Rich – WCW Television Title

Did Rich go to rehab and come back or is he prone to another “problem”

Randy Savage vs. Johnny B. Badd

It’s a bad day to go against the Madness

Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson vs. Steve Austin

love these two together

Marcus Bagwell vs. Rick Rude

poor Marcus

For a worker I never thought anything of in real life, I'm pleased to have him around in the game as he's a good hand who has no (so far) ego problems. That puts him in the distinct minority in WCW...</p><p> </p><p> As for poor Marcus... I have a soft spot for the young Buff. In my last post I implied he was a problem backstage, but that seems to have changed, possibly as a result of Steamboat's patronage, or maybe I just had him mistaken for someone else. Marcus has gone from a C to a B- in Psychology thanks to Ricky, putting him in the top half of the roster for that stat, and level with Dustin Rhodes and Lance Storm as a youngster with a particularly high ceiling right now.</p><p> </p><p> *</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://tew2016.com/images/images/wcwsaturdaynight.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>World Championship Wrestling presents: Saturday Night</strong></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Saturday, Week 1 January 1992</strong></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Segment of the Night – Enough is enough!</span></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><span>http://tew2016.com/images/images/OHart.jpg</span><span>http://tew2016.com/images/images/Pillman.jpg</span><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The Special Forces vanquished, Pillman grabbed his title belt and made a quick exit but Owen remained in the ring, grabbing a microphone from Gary Michael Cappetta.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Hart: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Brian, stop! Well, I went into the cage with the Four Horsemen and they damn near killed me! Sid Vicious powerbombed me again, and again, and again. Matched up against Larry Zbyszko in his ongoing issues with the Dangerous Alliance, the Total Package found himself cheated when Madusa gave the Living Legend some added leverage, helping him pin Luger in something of an upset. Raging, Luger demanded one of the Alliance one-on-one at the Clash, and Paul E. Dangerously was only too happy to oblige – he could give WCW a big money match, help boost the Alliance’s cut of the gate, and ahead of his World title match against Nikita Koloff at Superbrawl, Rick Rude would get a warm-up match against a fellow powerhouse! Rude then warmed up for his wam-up with a victory over young Marcus Bagwell, who may have a bright future but for the present has a sore neck after a Rude Awakening.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Saturday night should always start off hot, and what can be hotter than the Macho Man right now? Afterwards, the Dangerous Alliance approached Randy Savage – giving them a numbers advantage that still had Austin and Zbyszko looking jittery – about the possibility of joining their number, and told him that he had some time to think about it. WCW Main Event

Beat the Champ – Ron Simmons © vs. Terence Taylor – WCW Television Title

Going with Miss York’s computer on this one

Lance Storm vs. Arn Anderson © – WCW United States Title

Should be a real good match, but AA not losing that US belt on TV

Bobby Eaton, Dustin Rhodes and El Tigre Blanco © vs. The Diamond Mine – WCW Six Man Titles

Kind of the odd couple in the champs but I’m going with them

Jerry Lawler and Ricky Steamboat vs. The Stocks And Shares Express

I’d love to see Lawler turn but

Marcus Bagwell vs. Cactus Jack

Chris Jericho and Joe Malenko vs. The Lightning Express

The Young Pistols vs. Pat Rose and George South

<p><em>After a long hiatus from the forum I'm stoked to see you doing a RW Diary, JC. I'll be honest I miss your full show writeups but I can't blame you for staying away from them this time.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I think Taylor could use the belt but Ron is giving solid B matches and I think he should hold it for a while longer.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Lance Storm vs. <strong>Arn Anderson ©</strong> – WCW United States Title</p><p> </p><p>

<em>No way is Arn losing to Lance.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bobby Eaton, Dustin Rhodes and El Tigre Blanco © vs. <strong>The Diamond Mine</strong> – WCW Six Man Titles</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I think it's mostly because they don't get a lot of features but I'm just not feeling the champs.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Jerry Lawler and Ricky Steamboat vs. <strong>The Stocks And Shares Express</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The team name may be awful but the Foundation needs some wins under their belt.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Marcus Bagwell vs. <strong>Cactus Jack</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I genuinely loved pre-Buff Marcus Bagwell and hope he becomes a star in this diary, but tonight he's going to get destroyed by Cactus.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Chris Jericho and Joe Malenko vs. <strong>The Lightning Express</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>What's this crap; you've got the Thrillseekers and you're not putting them together? For that I'm voting LE.</em></p><p> </p><p>

The night’s main event was a wild, close fought affair, with all six men giving everything, and the referee barely able to keep track of who was legal and who was just up for the fight. In amidst all the confusion, El Tigre Blanco caught DDP in the Gory Special, forcing a submission before Vegas or Studd could intervene.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cactus Jack wanted to Beat The Champ, but it was Terence Taylor who stepped up aganst Ron Simmons with the Television title on the line. No matter for Jack, as he charged the ring when the referee was arguing with Taylor and Alexandra York, dropping Simmons with a Double Arm DDT. A grateful Taylor covered for the pin, and we have a new TV champion!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Jack was in action later against Marcus Bagwell, and a second DDT of the night gave him the win. Jack didn’t seem happy with the victory however and kept beating on your Bagwell, until a raging Simmons chased him out of the ring, but Jack was grinning as he left!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sting, Lex Luger and Barry Windham were shown plotting over how to ensure that the match between Luger and Rick Rude at the Clash would be a fair fight.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Thomas Rich’s interference cost Jerry Lawler and Ricky Steamboat the chance to beat the Stocks And Shares Express – or possibly the other way around. Certainly the Express looked less than delighted about the way the match ended!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With their partners occupied elsewhere, Chris Jericho and Joe Malenko teamed up to take on the Lightning Express, but had no luck as the veterans picked up the duke with a Side Russian Legsweep on Jericho. Elsewhere on the show, the Young Pistols had similar success as they took down Pat Rose and George South.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In the first of three title matches on Main Event, Arn Anderson picked off young Lance Storm, who was on tour in Japan last week so “missed out on his opportunity”. The youngster put in a good effort, but fell to a big Spinebuster.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The night’s main event may well have been the biggest Beat The Champ yet, as new TV champion Terence Taylor took on former champion Sting! Taylor seemed less than delighted at facing such a huge challenge so early in his reign, but Sting had enthusiasm enough for both of them, bouncing Taylor around the ring in the early going. Still, Taylor is neither a coward nor a rookie and rose to the challenge posed by the Stinger, benefiting from the guidance of Alexandra York and what appeared to be a new, more powerful laptop. Ultimately, though, Taylor found himself rocked by the incredible strength of his challenger and was left reeling by a Stinger Splash, which may have been the end had Madusa not leapt up onto the ring apron. With the referee distracted, Steve Austin slid into the ring and drilled Sting in the back of the head with the TV title, leaving him down and out for Taylor to cover for the win and his first successful title defence!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With a spot in next week’s main event at stake, the Six Man champions clashed in a triangle match that saw each of Eaton, Rhodes and Blanco leaving it all in the ring as they tried to advance at the expense of their own teammates. Initial hesitancy to engage soon evolved into wild aerial attacks from Blanco and Eaton, while Rhodes settled for simple – but effective – strikes and slams. Ultimately, it was Blanco who edged out his teammates with a Gory Special on Rhodes forcing the submission and putting the masked man into next week’s #1 contender match. All three men shook hands and left together after the match. Who says sportsmanship is dead?</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Randy Savage was watching the night’s action closely, with Miss Elizabeth by his side. When Sting and Lex Luger approached him he responded warily – especially when they asked him for his help against the Dangerous Alliance. Savage pointed out that all this interest in him was making things very interesting – and he supposed that he might have to make a decision in the coming days. Unseen by Sting and Luger, Steve Austin was listening intently to the exchange.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With a singles match for the US tag titles – and how weird does that sound? – pending at Clash of the Champions, Owen Hart and Brian Pillman found partners to team with on Saturday night. With Barry Windham and Arn Anderson on side, the result was a spirited tag match that may show the future of the titles, one way or another. Anderson could be a dual US champion, even, as he showed his credential with a pinfall on Hart, albeit one aided by a handful of tights. Pillman didn’t seem delighted by the cheap victory, admittedly...</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The fans in the Cow Palace were understandably a little conflicted over who to cheer for when the Steiner Brothers clashed in the night’s opening match. The contest was, of course, cleanly contested – but nonetheless competitively as both brothers vied for a chance at a World title match. In the end, Scott capitalised on his brother over-reaching on a Steinerline attempt to score with a Frankensteiner and advance to next week’s #1 contender match!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Nikita Koloff would be quizzed during the course of the night about his potential opponents. He admitted he was impressed by Scott Steiner’s speed and strength, and by El Tigre Blanco’s technical wizardry. On Terence Taylor, he withheld judgment as it wasn’t even certain Taylor would be TV champion by the end of the night, let alone next week. As for Arn Anderson... “The Dangerous Alliance was formed after I became World champion. They think it will take five of them to take down one Nikita Koloff. So Arn Anderson on his own? I am not too concerned.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Scott had no chance to celebrate, however, as Mr Hughes and Dan Spivey confronted the brothers on their way up the aisle, and seemed set to attack – only for the York Foundation to take on the unlikely role of the cavalry, interrupting to press </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>their</em></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> claim for a title shot. The Steiners made haste as the two sides argued, but they would be called out by still a third team on Saturday night, as the Diamond Mine made clear that any gold not in their hands was wasted, as far as they were concerned! Vegas and Studd made their case with a victory over the Special Forces, albeit only after Diamond Dallas Page got involved in the action.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steve Austin had some harsh words for Marcus Bagwell ahead of their clash, and backed them up with a high octane victory capped with a Stun Gun to the younger man.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Larry Zbyszko had gold on his mind as well, demanding to be given a chance to Beat The Champ! Jesse Ventura replied that TV title shots don’t work that way, but if it was a second chance Larry wanted, he could face Lex Luger! The Living Legend didn’t seem too delighted by this news, and small wonder! Angered by his recent loss to Zbyszko, Luger bombarded him from the off, leaving Zbyszko reeling, and while he got some momentum back he was never able to fully take control of the match before Luger hoisted him into the air with a Military Press Slam to pick up the win and gain some momentum ahead of Clash of the Champions!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Segment of the Night – Cactus Jack cuts loose

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Cactus.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/JMalenko.jpg

Victory for Cactus Jack wasn’t enough. With Malenko still down after the Double Arm DDT, Cactus dragged him off the mat and threw him through the ropes to the arena floor.

Schiavone:
I’ve seen this before...

Cactus climbed out onto the ring apron. Taking sight on Malenko, Jack took a two-step run-up and leapt out into mid-air, crashing down on Malenko with a big elbow drop. As Malenko convulsed on the floor, Cactus stared gleefully into the nearest camera.

Cactus:
Bang bang! Bang bang!

Before the main event, Jerry Lawler had words for the York Foundation; Thomas Rich seemed ready to respond in action, with his sights set on regaining the NWA title, Lawler was ready to fight, however, and held his own against the former champion. It was give and take, and both men had chances to take the victory, which may have been what prompted Taylor’s intervention in the match, as York once again distracted the referee. Taylor swung his TV title, Lawler ducked, and Rich ate a face full of gold. Lawler covered for the pin and retention of the title as Taylor looked on in distress.

Brian Pillman has largely kept his mouth shut about the Dangerous Alliance and their goals since joining, but he joined in the group’s recent history by facing Marcus Bagwell, delivering a Shining Wizard to put the youngster down for three. Only when the bell rung did Pillman realise that Owen Hart had been watching the match from the aisle, scouting his opponent ahead of Clash Of The Champions.

World champion Nikita Koloff was in the mood to face a challenge this Sunday, and got one in the form of Brad Armstrong. The Post Soviet Superstar overwhelmed the tag specialist, taking the win with a Jackhammer to continue his good form of the last several months. However, his victory celebrations were interrupted by the appearance of Rick Rude and Madusa, with Rude warning Koloff “or whoever is champion after the Clash” that he would be lying in wait at SuperBrawl!

Terence Taylor kept hold of his TV title when Bobby Eaton came up short – albeit after Taylor scored with a low blow when Alexandra York distracted the referee! Contributing to Eaton’s defeat may have been a suspected ankle tendon injury, which if confirmed may leave the current Six Man champion on the bench for a while.

Cactus Jack was a busy man on Sunday night, beating Joe Malenko and lurking near Randy Savage’s dressing room for reasons perhaps only he understands. While he was there, though, he got to watch Alexandra York approaching Savage, with the offer of a place in the York Foundation – “But we’d have to do something about your name – and your attire. There is such a think as professionalism, after all...”

In tag action, the Young Pistols knocked off Tony Falk and Mike Davis.

We here at WCW are always delighted to help with worthwhile causes, and it’s great to see so many of our wrestlers chipping in to give their support. The kids love the Steiners, their moms love Lex Luger and Owen Hart, and everyone loves Sting!

Sting re-signs, another WCW star to leave? Also, Eaton injury update!

The man called Sting has signed a new deal with WCW, it was announced on Monday morning. The deal will earn the Stinger around $300,000 a year, and is expected to keep Sting with the company until 1994.

However, not all is well in Turnertown, as one of their biggest names is reputed to be ready to leave for the WWF. The split between WCW and this main event talent is believed to be down to WCW offering a shorter contract than WWF, although more money up front. Expect more on this as the story develops!

And Bobby Eaton may want to buy a four-leafed clover, some lucky heather, a rabbit’s foot and avoid ladders, mirrors and black cats. The former Midnight Express man has been in fine form of late, capturing the TV title and Six Man title twice in the last nine months. However, in his match with Terence Taylor on Sunday night he suffered a partial rupture of his Achilles tendon, and is expected to be on the sidelines for three months. WCW have not yet addressed what this means for the Six Man titles, which Eaton currently holds with Dustin Rhodes and El Tigre Blanco.

Segment of the Night – Do they?

http://tew2016.com/images/images/RSteiner.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/SSteiner.jpg

Magnum T.A. was stood with the Steiner Brothers, Scott with his title belt slung over one shoulder, Rick with his fastened backwards around his waist. Before Magnum could say anything, Scott snatched the microphone away.

Scott:
All kinds of teams lining up to take a shot at our gold! The Diamond Mine! The Stocks and Shares Express! The Groundshakers! The Steiners ain’t never walked away from a fight and ain’t never gonna start now!

Rick took the microphone from his brother and stared intently down the camera.

Rick:
We’re not giving out shots to anyone who doesn’t deserve, it though! So tell me, brother, do the Diamond Mine deserve another shot?

Scott:
They don’t!

Rick:
Do the Express?

Scott:
They don’t!

Rick:
Do the Groundshakers?

Scott:
They don’t!

Scott took back the microphone.

Scott:
It’s too easy to just demand a shot. Just because you can do this-

Steiner pantomimed a flapping mouth with one hand.

Scott:
-doesn’t mean you should be near this.

He slapped the belt over his shoulder.

Scott:
So for once, we’re not giving out a free pass. The World championship needs to be earned, the chance to win it needs to be earned, hell, even setting foot in the ring with the Steiner Brothers needs to be earned. So you three teams, you think you’re such hot stuff, you think you’re the real deal, that you can go with the Steiners, you need to prove it. At the Clash, you get in the ring and you earn a shot. Lose, and you get to the back of the line, simple as that.

Scott:
And whichever pair of you comes after us... Be ready. We’re in the mood for a fight, and if you’re not ready for us, all you’re gonna get is bitten, Steinerlined and suplexed to hell!

WCW Hotline Show Notes

http://tew2016.com/images/images/1992-01-05-Sat.jpg

Saturday Night’s main event saw El Tigre Blanco, Scott Steiner, Arn Anderson and Terence Taylor all squaring off with a World title shot at Clash
Of
The Champions XIX on the line. All four men had spells in control, with Blanco taking to the air, Steiner hurling everyone around the ring with
suplexes
and Taylor trying to ground the match, but seeming a little lost with so many opponents and no backup from the York Foundation. Anderson bided his time, nearly knocking Taylor cold with a DDT to narrow the field down, before pouncing on Blanco after the masked man dropkicked Steiner through the ropes. Delivering a Spinning
Spinebuster
to Blanco, the United States champion covered for the pin – giving him the shot at Nikita
Koloff
this week at the Clash!

Randy Savage picked up another victory by taking down Robert Gibson. More notable, however – and with all due respect to Gibson – was the emergence during the match of first Paul Heyman and
Madusa
, then Harley Race, then Sting and Lex Luger, then Alexandra York and finally DDP, all looking for an answer on where Savage’s allegiances might lie. Savage stood with Miss Elizabeth and promised that they’d have an answer... at the Clash!

Sting’s issues with the Dangerous Alliance continued later in the night, as he and Nikita
Koloff
faced Rick Rude and Steve Austin in a ferocious brawl that saw Rude focusing on his potential
SuperBrawl
opponent, while Sting and Austin tangled. Sting had Austin on the back foot, but Austin went low to stop the Stinger in his tracks – and get his side disqualified! But as Rude and
Koloff
continued to fight on regardless, Austin fetched a loop of cable from ringside and whipped Sting across the back with it, before following up with a series of kicks to leave Sting down. As Austin gloated, he told Sting that the two would meet again, one on one, at Clash
Of
The Champions!

What must it be like for WCW wrestlers backstage right now? Cactus Jack could be anywhere – and this time he ambushed the isolated Dustin Rhodes, beating him around the backstage area and hurling him into a scaffold, leaving the Natural down and bloodied. Ron Simmons finally caught up with the pair and forced Cactus to back down... or maybe Cactus just thought he’d done enough for the night? Who can even begin to fathom the mind of the madman?

Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat and Owen Hart warmed up for their matches at Clash
Of
The Champions in tag action. Billy Jack Haynes, teaming with Flair, was the odd man out – and perhaps that contributed to his tempestuous mood during the contest, where he argued with Flair throughout. That lack of cohesion cost their team, with Hart scoring a quick rollup on Haynes for another victory over the much larger man!

Larry
Zbyszko
is still steaming about the lack of a rematch for the TV title, and made his opinions known to Jesse Ventura after he teamed with Dangerous Alliance ally Brian
Pillman
to put down the Thrillseekers. Barry Windham interrupted
Zbyszko
and said that he was waiting for a rematch against Arn Anderson – but he’d settle for knocking
Zbyszko’s
teeth down his throat and shutting him up instead! Commissioner Ventura made the match official for the Clash!

Lex Luger powered his way past the Diamond
Studd
– no small order! Afterwards, he warned Rick Rude not to look past him at the Clash; The Total Package wanted to make Rude realise he wasn’t as superior as he believed!

Dan Spivey and Mr Hughes – The
Groundshakers
– welcomed Dean
Malenko
back to active competition with a heavyweight beating, picking up the win with a Powerbomb and Big Splash combination they’re calling the Bunker Buster.
