Of course, backstage, Ross and Ventura didn't get on. That's not reflected in the story so far, but could be a partial justification for the switch, if Jesse wanted to make the move. It would mean finding another colour guy - maybe Ross & Lawler? Seems like it could work, albeit that Lawler doesn't work Saturday nights right now...</p>

The Steiner Brothers uncharacteristically came to the ring even though they weren’t scheduled for a match. Scott called for a microphone with Rick stood beside him, a thick bandage wrapped around his head underneath his headgear. Rick rubbed his head gingerly as Scott pulled a cameraman in close and stared down the lens.

Scott:

We laid out an open challenge, and the Diamond Mine have stepped up. That’s good, but an RSVP for the Clash would’ve been fine. Beating us down, jumping us from behind, using a tyre iron… That’s cheap, boys.

Rick:

See, where you went wrong was hitting me in the head! Now, I may be college educated, but what I majored in was beating people up – the bigger, the better! You don’t graduate summa cum laude in that without a real solid head, boys, and there’s none tougher than the Dog Faced Gremlin!

Scott:

What my brother’s saying is, you got invited to come wrestle us. You chose to turn it into a fight. Your choice, Studd. Your choice, Vegas. And DDP… Well, I woulda thought you’d been around WCW long enough to know better, but maybe you have to learn the lesson yourself. Fine, I can see that. But we promise you, it’s a lesson you only need to learn once… unless we beat you so damn stupid that you forget what you learned and need teaching again!
