<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/SteveFlash_alt.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

“Wherever I’ve been, I’ve been a company guy. I go in, I do the job that’s needed, I don’t make waves. I’ve spent my career steering clear of locker room drama, but…yeah, that wasn’t the easiest thing in a place like Hollyweird.</p><p> </p><p>

“I knew there were issues between Strong and Streets. I don’t know the details – can’t say I ever wanted too – but I figured they were both professionals. When the time comes, you set aside your personal feelings and you do the business that’s asked of you.</p><p> </p><p>

“Turns out, they weren’t able to do that.”</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/RCB.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/JohnnyMartin.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

“Streets threat to walk away from his contract wasn’t a tactically astute decision. If he’d kept his head down, behaved like a professional, he would have had issues with Strong’s factions but the rest of us would have been fine with him. Instead he starts throwing his weight around, threatening the first pay-per-view main event…that’s the sort of thing that gets people off-side. Suddenly he’s got heat with all sorts of people, and that kind of heat can fester.</p><p> </p><p>

“Next thing you know, what started out as a handful of Strong’s cronies taking a dislike to Streets is half a locker room full of people who are just waiting for him to screw up.”</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/RCB.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/FreddieDatsun.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

“So here’s the thing: there is no-one in wrestling more even-tempered and professional than Bob Casey. The guy is just…well, he’s got no ego about this. He’s there to do what he loves, collect his money, and go home.</p><p> </p><p>

“I've known Bob for a few years, before we worked together at Hollyweird. Dusty managed to piss him off on Bob's first day in the locker room...”</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/RCB.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/MitchNaess.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

“It was just an impossible situation to fix. Dusty would start feeling like everyone was against him, then his negatively would piss people off, which meant people were actually against him after a while just because he’d created this self-fulfilling prophecy.</p><p> </p><p>

“Heat is a part of the business. Wrestling attracts some pretty extreme personalities, and the things that make a great performer are rarely humility and an even temper. Doesn’t stop some people from being honest-to-god heat magnets, and Dusty was just one of them. Even when we took steps to try and mitigate the issues, he’d go out of his way to make things worse.”</p>

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Jack Giedroyc vs. Craig Prince</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Our opening match is full of intensity. Giedroyc’s strategy largely involves taking the fight to Prince and throwing fists, which isn’t the most effective tactic against a man as dangerous as Prince. Giedroyc is tough enough to endure a lot of the punishment that comes his way, but eventually he falls prey to the palm strike/suplex combination and the Katahajime is locked in for the submission victory. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Craig Prince defeated Jack Giedroyc in 5:26 by submission.</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Rating: D</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We cut back to the interview stage, where Eric Tyler is standing by. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We cut backstage, where the Old School Alliance are arriving at the Skid Row Club in a cherry-red convertible. Emma Chase is on hand to get a few words.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Mister Power? Could we get your thoughts on the news that—</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Walt Flanagan shoulders her out of the way and heads into the Skid Row Club. Jimmy Power helps her up again, grinning like a maniac.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Power follows Flanagan inside, leaving Chase with Paez and Forletta. Paez smirks, a confident kid in a blazer, Ramones shirt, and aviator sunglasses. I know them. I’ve known them my entire life. They were the bane of my existence as a kid. Liberty - the good-looking kid everyone wanted to know, too absorbed in being a rebel without a ‘cause to pay attention to the unpopular kids from the wrong side of the tracks.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He’s just the idiot jock who beat up on everyone who seemed different. And believe, Emma, I was plenty different as a kid. My mother spoke no English. My father worked a factory job, barely earned enough to put food on the table.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It’s not about high school. It’s not about them being popular and me being different. High-school was five years ago and everything about me has changed. Hot women throw themselves at me. I’m a wrestler in the most competitive gathering of athletes ever assembled in the world. I brush up against greatness every day, with legends and veterans and stars, and I’m twenty-three years old. I’m still getting better. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Mr Lucha is a Mexican icon. Duane Stone comes from the most iconic wrestling family in Canada. Together, they make a high-speed tag-team that’s difficult to contain, even for two athletic young bucks like the Ivy league. Montague does his best, stalling and cheating like crazy, but his partner is more interested in wrestling and that proves to be a mistake. Carvill takes Duane Stone to the mat just shy of the eight-minute mark, and finds himself trapped in the Alabaster Agony. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Icons Unlimited defeated The Ivy League in 7:57 by submission.</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Duane Stone releases Carvill and the referee raises his hand, but Rich Montague isn’t happy. He grabs Stone from behind and transitions into a rolling neckbreaker, but Stone slips free and backs away.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Mr Lucha is in the ring and snaps Montague into the mat with a lightning-quick rana. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Montague rolls upright, utterly stunned by what just happened. He narrowly manages to duck away when Stone charges in with a shining wizard, and Montague immediately pulls Carvill out of the ring and beats a hasty retreat up the ramp. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Jimmy Power has forgotten more about wrestling than most people ever learn. Walt Flanagan’s a mountain that decided to step into a wrestling ring and start throwing lariats. Ramon Paez…well, I’ve been watching that kid fight ever since he debuted on the East Coast a few years back, and I’ve been wanting to get his measure ever since.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

That’s the caliber of competition that finds its way to Hollyweird. And me, I’m a kid from Jersey who learned to a throw a punch or two, but look where I am now, yeah? Look who wants me watching their back against those three.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Casey doesn’t exactly look enthused to be in this match. BLZ Bubb has the size advantage, the strength advantage, the experience advantage, and is outright nuts to boot. Casey has amateur credentials in his native Seskatchewan, and some deceptive athleticism for a man with a spare tyre around his middle…and that’s nowhere near enough to save him from the Hades Bomb.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The video starts when a big boot makes an impact against someone’s face, dropping them to the canvas. It followed by another, and another, rapid cuts of two monstrous men inflicting punishment with big boots and yakuza kicks.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The sound gets louder as the cuts start cycling through different types of offense: stiff forearms; running knee; side slam; backbreaker; the big, tandem suicide that sees six hundred pounds going through the ropes and wiping opponents out against the turnbuckles.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The clip finishes with a focus on the finishing sequence: one man holds an opponent in a bearhug; the other charges in with a stiff big boot to the jaw as Mitch Naess screams “FALL OF MAN” on commentary.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Datsun is on fire for the opening minutes, outwrestling Paez and Jimmy Power by virtue of his tenacity and toughness. He tears through them for nearly two straight minutes before Walt Flanagan is tagged in.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

From there, things go to hell. Datsun made his reputation in hardcore brawls against big monsters and Mitch Naess makes sure everybody knows it, but Walt Flanagan delights in causing pain. He doesn’t just slam a man into a mat with all his power, he follows it up with a savage stomach claw just so he can inflict a little more pain.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match becomes a desperate battle as Datsun looks to make the hot tag, with the heels cutting the ring in half and keeping him trapped. Jimmy Power nails him with a low blow, and Ramon Paez gets a two-count off the springboard moonsault. Datsun survives them both, eventually ducking beneath a Flanagan lariat to dive for the tag.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match breaks down not long after that, the rapid tag and double-teams of all six men bending the rules to breaking point. Offense flies fast and furious, no-one giving a quarter.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Right up until Juliet Foletta slides a chair into the ring and Ramon Paez makes use of it in clear view of the referee, knocking Datsun silly with a chairshot to the skull to draw the DQ.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Liberty, Chris Rockwell and Freddie Datsun defeated Old School Alliance in 12:26 when Ramon Paez intentionally got disqualified.</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Datsun is staggered, but he’s been hit by chairs before and it takes more that to put him down. Unfortunately, Walt Flanagan is in the ring to deliver exactly that – he nails Datsun across the back of the skull with a Larait while the Hardcore American is distracted by Paez.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Datsun crumples to the canvas, unconscious, and Liberty is immediately there to register his objection with a flurry of right hands to Flanagan. He’s about six or seven punches in when Flanagan boots him in the balls, then picks him up and dumps him with a flapjack.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Chris Rockwell plays it a little smarter, circling around and darting in for a take-down on the big man. He almost gets it too, before Flanagan steadies himself and sprawls, wailing on Rockwell’s kidney with a series of clubbing blows. It’s too much, and Rockwell is forced to let go, which is when Flanagan promptly powerbombs him into the canvas.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p>Wait, I don't have a cruiserweight division? *Squints suspiciously at all the cruiserweight feuds*</p><p> </p><p>

Actually, it's a more complex question than it looks. I'll admit that establishing the cruiserweights as cruiserweights is kinda a secondary priority right now, under the theory that you can establish a handful of things really well or a bunch of things kinda well. Underground TV occupies similar terrain - it's the home of young, hungry, rising stars that wrestle the indie style (well, those guys, and Walt Flanagan). This makes it kinda hard to bill it as the kind of action you won't get on Hollyweird TV if you have to add "well, except for those cruiserweight guys" on the end of it.</p><p> </p><p>

That said, there are two undercard angles that are primarily about cruiserweight-vs-cruiserweight action - Lucha/Bruce and Exiles/Spirit Warriors - plus the Vanguard/Machines feud which is all about establishing the Vanguard as veterans of the high-flying style. The debut of Duane Stone means we've got three of the best lightweight competitors in the world on the roster, all of them in feuds with other lightweights and building relationships with other lightweights who are flagged as potential big players in the division. </p><p> </p><p>

And if you look at the booking for Hollyweird TV, the cruiserweight guys have a lock on the start-of-the-second-hour match slot where their high-flying style wakes up a flagging audience. </p><p> </p><p>

When there is a reason to start pushing the cruiserweight division hard, it should be ready to take off running. I just like a really, really long build for stuff <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Same theory is largely true of titles. I want one title all settled in as important before I debut a new one, but they're coming. Tag-Team belts are soon, and a mid-card belt of some description will hit before the end of 1997 in-game (although it may be 2018 in real-world times, at the pace I post shows). Whether it's the International Title or something Underground-specific is up for grabs at this point.</p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/DamienCarvill.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"For a while, you couldn't be an old-school heel in HGC. You could be a heel, but the company was built around bringing in the best of the best. It was grounded in a kind of realism, rather than the usual pageantry. Even guys like Heartthrob, who'd build their career out of being arrogant chickenshits, found themselves getting pushed as legitimate threats by virtue of being veterans. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"Then Walt got brought in, and his job was just being an out-and-out dick. Then me and Rich came in. Rich excelled at being an old-school heel - he oozed arrogance even as a rookie - and me...well, I was built and I was pretty. Phil figured, the moment you put me on screen, I was going to be hated.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"So we became the resident chickenshits, and we got over because he kept giving us the recap spots on Underground to get ourselves over."</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Damien was better than me in every way that mattered back then. He had the experience and he had the body and he had the charisma. You could cut him loose in a bar for ten minute and he’d come back with a pocket full of phone numbers.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“He was also a miserable son of a bitch, when you get right down to it.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“He didn’t like guys like Monty Walker for being weird and having piercings. He disliked guys like Whistler for being over and out-of-shape. He disliked the way the announcers talked us up. He disliked Phil’s booking, because we were supposed to go out there and be old-school, arrogant, chickenshit heels who talked a big game and lost.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“He didn’t like the way I drove, but he didn’t like driving himself. He didn’t like the hotels I picked. He didn’t like the way his meal was cooked at Cracker Barrel. Everything was always going to go wrong. Not in a big way, just…bit by bit. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“We rode together a few weeks before we decided it was a bad idea. I started touring with Larry Wood – half the reason I get to live like Rich Money, instead of just using the name, is because he gave me a crash-course in the share market on those rides.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Damien rode with Dusty Streets. And man, he really hated Dusty. Probably the one guy in Hollyweird who could out-misery Damien Carvill.”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Rich Money wanted to be great. He’s a humble guy, so you’ll never hear him say it out loud, but I’d come across him when he was starting out in New York City Wrestling and it was right there in the way he wrestled. He committed to the simple things, brought intensity to it. He took bumps with a single-minded intensity. He hit the ropes like he meant to do it.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I put him with Damien Carvill because Damien was better. He called himself The Natural up north and he was, in every way. Phenomenal athlete. Good looking. Charismatic to top it off. He was a few years into his career, so he had experience Rich didn’t. Things came easy to him that didn’t come so easy to Rich Money, and I figured Rich would work twice as hard to get to that level.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Liberty & The Blazing Flames vs. The Old School Alliance w/Julie Forletta</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The opening minutes of this match are a showcase for Liberty’s right hook. He spends the first minute or so laying out both Jimmy Power and Ramon Paez, as the two men tag in and out, and it isn’t until Walt Flanagan steps into the ring for the first time that a punch doesn’t send the opponent on his ass.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Liberty gets savaged after that and it’s up to the Flames to make the save, using their own double-teams to keep their opponent’s off-balance. They double-team Flanagan, outpacing him when he tries to responds, but a trip by Julie Forletta sends Teddy Flame stumbling into a lariat.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It starts to break down after that, with all six men in the ring, and there’s very little chance to restore order. Eugene Williams does his best, eventually gets them back down to one man in the ring, but the intensity is much higher and the tags more frequent.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

That’s when the Demons of Rage appear at ringside, hauling Joey Flame off the apron as teddy comes in for the hot tag. </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

When it comes to sheer grappling ability the Cowboy is outclassed in this one. Heartthrob has the experience, the mat ability, and he’s no slouch at the power game when it’s called for. The sole advantage Ricky Dale brings to table to match all of that is the resilience of a bull and a dogged, stubborn determination to stay in the fight and get some payback.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Heartthrob tries to lock Ricky Dale in the Cupid Clutch several times, but he can never get it properly cinched. The young man is too strong, too angry, and too determined not to quit. In the end, Heartthrob looks for an alternative approach, locking in a small package to pick up the pinfall victory. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>The Vessey Brothers vs. Richie Pangrazzio & Brute Alexie</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This one’s a grudge match. It starts with Bryan Vessey and Richie Pangrazzio trading punches, Pangrazzio targeting the stitches above Vessey’s eye, and it escalates as Larry Vessey and the hulking Brute Alexei find themselves in the ring at the same time.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Brute Alexei may be a step slower than he was in his prime, but he’s still incredibly powerful and hits like a freight train. He’s one of the first men to ever exchange strikes with Larry Vessey and come out the victor, courtesy of getting the elder Vessey in the corner and annihilating him with forearm strikes. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Nero is quick to point out the problems with Coach Pangrazzio’s absence, as it takes far longer for Bryan Vessey to realise he should outpace his opponents than it would have taken the couch. It’s only once he gets there, trapping Brute Alexei in the wrong part of the ring and forcing the big man to burn through his energy, that the Vesseys gain the advantage.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

They eventually transform that into victory when Larry Vessey gets a quick roll-up on the exhausted Alexei and picks up the three-count. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p>96 active wrestlers across the main roster and the West Coast development territory, but that number is slightly inflated by the names brought in on short-term deals, freelancers that will be gone before May, long-term planning for a division that may or may not happen, and...well, an increasingly unhappy Dusty Streets who may well quit before too long. </p><p> </p><p>

There's generally about 50 people on the active roster at any given time, but that will include one-to-three teams who are nominally "regulars" who get brought up from development to put people over and develop tag experience.</p><p> </p><p>

Alexei's mostly here to serve in the role originally planned for Walt Flanagan, before he became enormously fun to write.</p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/RickyDaleJohnson.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

“Alexei proved to be the last straw for Dusty.” Ricky Dale Johnson pours another glass of jack and raises it in salute before continuing. “Things were bad backstage – Sam was actively playing politics, working to keep Dusty down, and he’d already threatened to walk out once. Phil had done his best to try and calm things down, but his attempts to play peacekeeper weren’t always effective. Tyson, in particular, actively grew to dislike Streets after Phil tried to mediate a problem they were having.</p><p> </p><p>

“Then they bring Alexei in. Limited number of dates, ‘cause he’s working Burning Hammer and Phil doesn’t really want another hoss in his forties on the card. What he wants is a name they can use for a few weeks, get some people over, get some mileage and press out of the fact that the Burning Hammer Tag-Team champion is wrestling for us.</p><p> </p><p>

“And somewhere in there Alexei catches up with Strong. He starts seeing things Strong’s way and suddenly there’s…tension.</p><p> </p><p>

“And Dusty, he’s already paranoid about all this. Sure that Strong’s destroying his career, when in reality Dusty’s doing plenty to do that on his own. But in the back of his mind I guess he’s thinking that Burning Hammer is always there. He can go back there for another run – this time without Strong – and make a living that way.</p><p> </p><p>

“But Alexei is a big name for the Hammer. He’s respected among the gaijin and the Japanese wrestlers alike.</p><p> </p><p>

“And suddenly he sees his career tanking, and he starts making noise.”</p><p> </p><p>

Ricky Dale picks up the bottle of jack and considers it carefully before pouring another drink.</p><p> </p><p>

"Only upside, far as I could see, is he made the decision <em>before</em> the tag-team tournament started."</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/RCB.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x15/arwink/PhilVibert.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

“It cost us fifteen thousand dollars to keep Dusty around until Welcome to Hollyweird. Originally the plan had been to make him and Ricky Dale a key part of the tag-team division, but when you’ve noise about leaving for the second time in two months, that’s not a safe bet. Plans shifted. Ricky Dale got a new tag-team partner. Dusty and I started talking about ways to remove him from the situation, and who he’d be willing to put over on the way out.</p><p> </p><p>

“We agreed he’d work out the remainder of his contract in California, training the next generation. A pretty solid deal – and one I probably wouldn’t make day – but I felt bad for the guy. He’d come to Hollyweird on good faith, discovered that Sam Strong wasn’t willing to do business. </p><p> </p><p>

“I felt bad…but I’ll admit, I was looking forward to getting through a week without hearing his laundry list of complaints.”</p>

- EPISODE 8 PREVIEW –

HGC hits the north-west for the first time, with Underground TV taping from historic Portland Centre. With many members of the regular roster preparing for The War to Settle the Score on Sunday, opportunity is in the air and plenty of new names are stepping up to seize it.

Kronos make their debut this Friday, bringing their unique brand of hard-hitting action to bear against the young cousins, Giedroyc and Poison, who make up The Filth & The Fury.

The Old School Alliance send their rookie member Ramon Paez into action, taking on a man with a name that’s respected throughout the wrestling world. Has Jimmy Power’s training been enough to get the victory over Duane Stone?

Rumble Roper and Lionheart Lawson have been making a name on the independents as The Black & Blue Crew. They’re facing off against The Ivy League, two wrestlers who have talked a good game but still need to pick up their first win in Hollyweird.

Freddie Datsun made a big debut last week, picking up the victory as part of the six-man main event. This time he’ll be wrestling solo, taking on the extravagant rock star from Long Island, Jack Bruce.

Matches featured in this streaming video include:

Freddie Datsun vs. Jack Bruce

The Black & Blue Crew vs. The Ivy League

Duane Stone vs. Ramon Paez

The Filth & The Fury vs. Kronos

<p>Finally got back in the mood to play TEW and check out the forums again. I'm glad to see this diary is still going, and has only gotten better and better. </p><p> </p><p>

I really love how you've found roles for a lot of guys I never really got much out of. The finest example of this is Romeo Hearthrob, who prior to this diary I've only ever really seen be used as a gatekeeper. You've done a wonderful job in building him up as a character and getting me invested in him as a top heel.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Freddie Datsun </strong>vs. Jack Bruce</p><p>

Comments: This is the match I'm least confident on, but I'll go with Datsun here since he's new and still being established in HGC. </p><p> </p><p>

The Black & Blue Crew vs. <strong>The Ivy League</strong></p><p>

Comments: The Ivy League seem to have reconsidered their "Dont make conquering this world too easy for us" stance by fighting two guys who were somehow too jobbery to get squashed by the Demons of Rage.</p><p> </p><p>

Duane Stone vs. <strong>Ramon Paez</strong></p><p>

Comments:If this was in Canada I'd pick Stone, but I think that Paez can pick up a win with Power and Flannigan there to help him.</p><p> </p><p>

The Filth & The Fury vs. <strong>Kronos</strong></p><p>

Comments: I brought in Joey Poison and Jack Giedroyc (renamed Jack Venom) in as a tag team in CZCW 97 game and put the tag belts on them pretty quickly. Unfortunately for Jack & Joey the talent pool in HGC is far deeper and being marginally better than the 16 year old Gilbert Brothers isn't going to be enough to earn them a championship here.</p>
