Card Subject to Change

Have you ever been forced to make a last second change to a main event (or any other match, really)?

I had a great story going with Brock Lesnar and Stone Cold Steve Austin.. but I ran into a serious hiccup. I pre-booked them to face each other for the 2nd time on PPV, but Austin didn't warn me about his hesitancy ahead of time. Instead, moments before the PPV goes live and I'm adding in their pre-booked main event.. Stone Cold drops out and says he cannot risk injury at this time. So with brand split restrictions and all.. I had to have Shelton Benjamin (Upper Midcarder, the highest pushed wrestler left on my bench) come out and kayfabe attack Austin, before inserting himself into the match against Lesnar. Brock and Shelton ended up wrestling a 21 minute Hell in a Cell match that resulted in a B- rating. It did save my show.. definitely could've been worse. Still, you have to believe that a lot of fans would be disappointed in that turn of events.

So please, tell me about a time or two when this happened to you. Did it make or break your show? Have you ever had to cancel a match or event entirely because it fell apart for some reason? I'm curious to hear what anyone else has had happen.

<p>In TEW 2013 I did an ROH save from day one. A few years in I built a show around Misawa and Kobashi's first appearances in ROH after a recent working relationship with NOAH. </p><p> </p><p>

I planned on doing Misawa and Kobashi vs Samoa Joe (Champ at the time) and Low Ki. The week before the show Misawa and Low Ki both get injured to keep them out the show so ended up doing Kobashi vs Joe along with bringing in KENTA to face AJ Styles. They both did well but in real life it would have just been a huge shame to promote them two coming over and it not happening.</p>

<p>Was using the 2013 database and I had Nicky Champion go down to injury the show before Stars, Stripes, and Slams. Had him vacate the title to open the PPV and an 8 man tournament had to carry my show with James Justice vs Enygma giving me a decent main event grade of 81 to keep my head above water. </p><p> </p><p>

In the 2016 database I Kerry Wayne break his freaking neck before my big RAW ppv and he was replaced with a less over Loxley Robbins. The match was not to my liking but it got the job done and Luke Steele was able to hang on to the title which he will keep until the return of Wayne.</p>

In my first MA game as the WWF, The Rock (IC champ) was set to face Ken Shamrock. Last Raw before the Royal Rumble he got injured. The match was supposed to be one of my 2 big matches with the Rumble. So during the event, The Rock came out and announced he couldn't wrestle. Faarooq fought Shamrock instead and lost The Rock's title. It started the breaking of the Nation.

<p>My create a company is called International Championship Entertainment and I've built it to International level. So I decided to start an Alliance called International Wrestling Alliance. Got BHOTWG, APA, ZEN, CILL, AAA, and QAW all to join. I made a heavyweight title, tag team title, trios title, and women's title for it. </p><p> </p><p>

So a few months later I have a match scheduled between the trios champions The Architect's Firm (The Architect, Dean Waldorf, and Marv Statler) and the FroColt family (Fro Sure, Ricky DeColt, Hustle Muvva) but the night before the match, BHOTWG borrowed The Architect for a juniors tournament and he got his neck broken in the finals, putting him out of action for a year. Really didn't hurt me because it wasn't a major match. Actually helped me make the decision to not give the family the trios titles because they'd never want to drop them. </p><p> </p><p>

So instead I just had another member of the stable take the third title and they're still defending them six months later. I plan to keep the belts on them until he returns, then I'll put his title on him.</p>

<p>I've had to do it several times on my current game. Backstage control is not my thing, it seems. </p><p> </p><p>

Biggest match I've lost was Hollywood Hogan defending the WWF title against Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 10. Hogan was running a stable called ''Power'', Austin was part of that stable. We got a good 2 years out of it. Anyway, Austin starts to develop an attitude with Hogan so Hogan has to strike. Austin is kicked out of Power and transforms from Stunning Steve into Stone Cold Steve Austin. He won the Royal Rumble to go on to challenge Hogan. This would be the passing of the torch. </p><p> </p><p>

Hogan morale is just going lower even though I don't remember doing anything wrong, I know I must have. Anyway, Hogan leaves and I have to change plans. Instead of Hogan beating Bret Hart at the Royal Rumble, Brian Pillman beat Bret Hart ( he was also part of power). In the end, this all worked out. Pillman has turned into one of my biggest stars in this game and his match with Austin at Wrestlemania was my first 100. </p><p> </p><p>

Summerslam 1994 was supposed to be Pillman vs The Undertaker. Pillman won back the WWF title and was supposed to defend it here. This is built up for about 2 months and lots of big angles. Undertaker goes in a huff and asks for a contract release about 2 weeks before the match. </p><p> </p><p>

The change this time actually helped me out for a future Pillman vs Bret Hart storyline. Pillman defeated Bret Hart and Owen Hart in the replacement match and then beat Bret again 1 on 1. I looked at their head to head record and it turns out that Bret had never beaten Pillman, tag team matches included. This all came to an end at Wrestlemania 11. Bret Hart beat Brian Pillman for the first time to regain the WWF title. </p><p> </p><p>

So things always seem to work out in the end. I've been lucky so far.</p>

<p>I had an entire show get thrown in the trash becuase of booking conflicts. USWA and AJPW has fully half my roster under contract, and as I'm TWA, a small hardcore promotion that would later turn into ECW, they get priority. </p><p> </p><p>

In one combined night they took from my plans: Abdullah the Butcher & Bobby Fulton (part of my main fued, with Abdullah as the main heel), Eddie Gilbert, Mr. Sandman, Stal Lee, Steve Keirn, Tommy Rogers, and Woman. And then add Tony Stetson (part of my secondary fued) being injured.</p><p> </p><p>

Instead I had to put this mess of a show together with the random collection of workers I had, including having my barely trained booker/wrestler appear on the show proper isntead of the preshow, despite the crowd literally chanting for him to never come back. Mike Sharp is also a big crybaby who gets upset no matter who you ask him to lose to or how. And before you say "Least you still had RVD and Foley", yeah, but this was 1991 RVD and Foley.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>After I made JT Southern my AWA World Champion I turned him face and he began a feud with JJ Southern (Jeff Jarrett) his former tag team partner. A month after the feud starts JT Southern tore his ACL because of a botch from Ted DiBiase so I had to make last minute changes for the PPV. JT Southern was currently being helped by DDP at this point so the main event was now DDP vs. JJ Southern. The main event got like a 94 rating <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Once JT Southern and JJ Southern finally had there big awaited match It got a score of around 85-87 I think, not too sure <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/confused.png.d4a8e6b6eab0c67698b911fb041c0ed1.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> so despite it still going well my last minute change match turned out to work out great:cool:</p>

<p>Kharma has forced me to change my card on two occasions due to injuries. </p><p> </p><p>

First, she would have taken part of the first all women's Elimination Chamber. But some random foot injury forced me to make it a regular five way match. She could have worked the show, but would have tanked the rating of the match.</p><p> </p><p>

Then I booked her in a big marque match against Gina Carano (The unstoppable force vs the immovable object). But a shattered knee forced me to put that match on the shelf for a year and three months. </p><p> </p><p>

I also wanted to book Sunny vs Sable. But forgot that I could only sign Sable to a non-wrestler deal. Instead I had to settle for a big cat fight angle.</p>

I feel for you. I am lucky that I have such a large roster available with WWE, or else I could see this happening to me, too. I recently suspended Randy Orton twice for steroid use. Also, as I stated earlier, his friend John Cena left the company throwing a fit. Orton became furious and asked for his release. I denied his release, but then he stated he will sit out the rest of his contract doing nothing. So of course I fired his ass. I was forced to scrap Orton's storyline with Bray Wyatt. I was hoping to at least culminate the feud with a PPV match, but it wasn't meant to be. Managing the backstage atmosphere is kind of difficult.</p>

I mean the overall ratings weren't too much of a wash since it's TWA (small sized) so I still gained pop, but I should still be pulling in D+ at the least. And cheating to peek at the raw numbers instead of letters, that show was a point away from an E+

Oh yeah, you're right. For a second there, I forgot you were TWA and I was thinking in bigger company terms. Still, it sucks you had no choice with it. But that's the cool realism of this game.

Late 2016, and Remmy Skye is my figurehead. Shows up to my last PPV of the year wasted, and I suspend him. I had Bulldozer crush him in a squash match that ended in a kayfabe injury and then had Fox Mask (Skye's tag team partner) come out and put on a 92 rated match with Smith where he eventually lost to the Tombstone piledriver. Skye stayed pissed about getting suspended and losing his status as figurehead, so I kicked him to the curb and he wound up getting signed to SWF and tanking their prestige. Load off my mind, really.

<p>In my create a company I started a tag team with Logan Wolfsbaine and Danny Fonzarelli because Danny took Logan on as his protege. Called them American Assholes and they were a huge hit. Logan skyrocketed in popularity too fast and became a negative influence. </p><p> </p><p>

At my next PPV they were set to defeat Jack Bruce and Remmy Skye to regain their tag team titles, but the night of Logan decided to pick a fight with Knuckles, who proceeded to whip his ass. As punishment, I had him take the loss at the PPV and then lose to Knuckles on TV. Knuckles had 55 pop. Logan had 80. He was furious. Now, one year later, Logan has 60 pop and is still a jerk. I refuse to push him to the main event unless his attitude changes.</p>

I have told this story a thousand times in here, but let's go. WWF 1991-1993 save in TEW 13...WrestleFest 1992. I had Randy Savage losing to King Chris Jericho in my plans for the show, but 1-2 days (I can't remember) before the show, Savage leaves to film "The Butterfly Man". I ultimately had Jericho cut a promo and keep building up their feud by himself, with the name of the movie being enough to give Jericho some fresh insults against Macho (Who was the 1992 WOTY)...and it all would have culminated in a Jericho win at Mania 9, as Savage was returning before that. My save went to hell before the Royal Rumble, though.

In a 2013 WWE save, also with TEW 13, an entire feud of mine was shafted due to Rey Mysterio leaving to film a movie as well, that feud being between Mysterio & Sin Cara against Alberto Del Rio and his Aristocracy of Hunico, Camacho and Ricardo.

Unfortunately for me, Randy Orton's contract was ending in 4 months anyways. I cut him loose to avoid further backstage negatives from him.

So this just happened to me. I have a WWE 3 way brand split, and my Thunder brand champion is Austin Aries, he's been feuding with Randy Orton. Main Event of my go home show was Aries/Derrick Bateman vs Orton/Okada. Aries ruptured a MCL in his elbow, and now I have no idea what I am doing. I have Zayn and Abyss feuding right now, I think I might pop Orton into that match and have a 3 way for the vacant title.

Ouch. And if this had happened in 16, you would have known about Savage leaving well ahead of time...

Anyway, I've told my story a few times, too: This goes back to TEW 04, when TCW was still Hollyweird. Cornell was the champion and I'd built to a big match with him and Jack Bruce at whatever HGC's flagship event was back then. The show before the go-home show, Jack got beat down by Cornell and his Domination stable... and suffered a neck injury.

I was also building a five-way No. 1 Contender's Match for the same show. So on the go-home show, I announced Jack's injury, then, because I'm insane, I simply tossed Cornell into that match and made it for the title.

He retained (!), but the fallout ended up turning Ricky Dale face (he wasn't using Johnson back then), and when he beat Cornell in the summer, he became the most popular wrestler in the U.S.
