<p>Oh wow, that ended up better than I could have hoped for. Great job! This take on Anne Stardust should be a lot of fun if you ever want to make her a current day character.</p><p> </p><p>

Flashing back to when a lot of the well-established names (like Sara Marie York) were just starting out, or when some of the women who I only know as retired (like Black Widow) were still active is pretty cool, so I like that you added that into the write-up.</p><p> </p><p>

In terms of interlude ideas, I've always wondered if there is a divide in the locker room between Cat Lair graduates (not that there are that many) and non-graduates, but if that isn't what you intended, I don't think you should force it. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I'm definitely interested in a few other flashback sequences. I've got some rough ideas for the founding of AAA, for one, the founding of QAW, the founding of Babes of Sin City, and the end of Babes of Sin City all as possible trips to the past. I'm actually enjoying the character Anne Stardust is becoming. She's got some shades of your version of Cat Quine, though she's generally less openly aggressive. No less opinionated, though. She'll definitely be around as part of the flashbacks and I suspect she'll find ways to become part of the present-day narratives.</p><p> </p><p> A divide with the Cat's Lair could be interesting...though as you point out, there really aren't a whole lot of graduates to work with in terms of characters. <p>Those flashbacks all sound good, but you know I'm partial to anything BSC. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Dark Matches/Preshow</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Wendy Anderson</strong> vs. Ellie May Walton</p><p>

<em>Not a fan of Ellie, so I'll go with Miss Reliable.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Joanna Silver vs. <strong>Tracy Brendon</strong></p><p>

<em>Argh, Silver needs to improve her in-ring psychology matey. </em><img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Simony Sentinel & Suzzane Brazzle</strong> vs. Laura Flame & Ariel Breaks</p><p>

<em>This is actually a pretty interesting spot to have Simony in (that nickname is great), and while I could see Laura and Ariel winning this, I'll go with the team that has the most over wrestler.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Main Show</p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Devil's Daughter </strong>vs. Steffi Chee</p><p>

<em>DD all the way.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steph Blake & Zoe Ammis</strong> vs. Good Lookin' Bunny (Katherine Goodlooks & Jessica Bunny)</p><p>

<em>No logic here to the pick outside of a personal preference.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Submission Match - Selina Svelte vs. <strong>Paige Croft</strong></p><p>

<em>I like that Selina is getting some work in, and this is a good spot to have a match with someone that would be the perfect mentor for her.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Ladder Match - <strong>Jaime Quine</strong> vs. Cherry Bomb</p><p>

<em>On an f'ning silver platter </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Joanne Rodriguez & AAA Femme Fatale Champion Sara Marie York vs. the <strong>A-List (Demelza Wade & Nadia Snow)</strong> - with the Femme Fatale title on the line!</p><p>

<em>Oh wow, that special stipulation has me questioning a lot of things. If Cat Jemson is the new commissioner, we could see shennigans aplenty. I'll take the A-List, with Wade winning, possibly by DQ? </em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Question: A member of the AAA roster will become AAA's General Manager at this event. Who will it be? Ah, I would have said Black Widow, but she's out of the company, so I'll go <strong>Cat Jemson</strong> as someone who isn't a wrestler but is still over enough to make an impact in the role.</p><p> </p><p>

Second Bonus Question: What will the final rating be? Main Event should be a good one, so I'll go <strong>56</strong></p>

<p>Main Show</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Devil's Daughter</strong> vs. Steffi Chee</p><p>

I <em>hope</em> you have plans for Devil's Daughter. Hope-based predictions. That usually go well, I hear.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steph Blake & Zoe Ammis</strong> vs. Good Lookin' Bunny (Katherine Goodlooks & Jessica Bunny)</p><p>

I'm not quite sure what's going on in the tag team scene, if there is a need to build up a heel or a face team. I love Zoe Amiss, so screw the babyfaces. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Submission Match - Selina Svelte vs. <strong>Paige Croft</strong></p><p>

Certainly Svelte has some ways to go before she can take on Paige?</p><p> </p><p>

Ladder Match - Jaime Quine vs. <strong>Cherry Bomb</strong></p><p>

I could see this just being match one of a small feud with increasing stakes, and I can see Cherry winning this to make Jaime's eventual win in the blow off match seem so much bigger. </p><p> </p><p>

Joanne Rodriguez & AAA Femme Fatale Champion Sara Marie York vs. <strong>the A-List (Demelza Wade & Nadia Snow)</strong> - with the Femme Fatale title on the line!</p><p>

The stipulation is very fishy, but could really work against the heels if they aren't completely on the same page. After all, both parts would really want to get the pin when the prize is individual, right? But I think they <em>are</em> on the same page, and there is the potential for an Authority-esque storyline starting here, so I go with a heel win.</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Question: A member of the AAA roster will become AAA's General Manager at this event. Who will it be? The drawback of making my guesses after MrWolf101 is that his predictions make so much sense, I can't find a good reason to guess something else. I have to assume it is <strong>Cat Jemson</strong>...</p><p> </p><p>

Second Bonus Question: What will the final rating be? Previous North West region shows have been rated 51, 55, and 52. </p><p>

A strong main event and a good card overall... I say you'll hit <strong>55</strong> again</p>

Mary Beth Chase wasn’t present. She found Cat Quine talking to Wendy Anderson. “That’s the thing,” Cat said, “you use the ‘babyface in peril’ where one member of the team just takes and takes a beating, getting them over both as sympathetic and tough, then you hit the hot tag and get the other member of the team over as an unstoppable force.” Wendy nodded.</p><p> </p><p> “I’m sorry to interrupt,” Cherry interrupted. “But I can’t find Mary Beth Chase anywhere. Did she call you?”</p><p> </p><p> “Oh, Cherry,” said Cat. "I should have told you earlier. I know we only signed her for a three month try-out, but I’d seen enough to know she’s not what we’re looking for here. I called her yesterday, made sure she hadn’t already spent money on the trip. She hadn’t, so I let her go. No reason for her to waste gas and a hotel room only to be told to go back home.”</p><p> </p><p> “Oh.” Cherry raised an eyebrow. “Not that I disagree with your assessment, but you got to make sure you tell me before I start taking attendance.”</p><p> </p><p> “Agreed 100 percent, Cherry.” Cat turned back to Wendy as Cherry and her clipboard went backstage. She saw Suzanne Brazzle talking to Talia Quinzel, cutting a promo line by line, and then explaining what she was doing. Cherry was glad to know she was not the only woman in this company who believed in training the next generation. </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/4WuhyP5.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/XaMRxhf.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Meanwhile, loud hooting could be heard from the locker room. Cherry picked up her pace, wanting to make sure a fight hadn’t broken out. One had - on the PS3 Sara had brought in. A tournament bracket had been drawn on the whiteboard, and Sara had advanced to the finals against Joanna Silver. Simony Sentinel was over Silver’s shoulder, “coaching” her, though Silver seemed mostly like she was flailing.</p><p> </p><p> “Take that! Take that!” Silver cried, and then, “Oh, no! Ow, ow, ow...OW! Holy crap, that was like, ten moves in a row! Still, not bad for literally just smashing buttons, huh?”</p><p> </p><p> Sara chuckled. “Those are the hardest players, because I have no idea what you’re going to do next, since YOU have no idea what you’re going to do next!” The women laughed. Cherry was amazed at how well the locker room was getting along, but she needed to be team mom. No smiles.</p><p> </p><p> “All right, ladies, enough of the fake fighting, it’s time for you to get ready to do some fake fighting!”</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I got there early, because I am a nerd with no social life and as such I’m willing to show up an hour early. First match was Ellie May Watson vs. Wendy Anderson.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/sB96FgI.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/PVM1Kw9.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The match was a fairly short affair, and it was bowling shoe ugly. Walton kept to a very basic kick-punch offense, Anderson eventually hit her Flying Cross Body finisher after staggering the Psycho Hillbilly. On a positive note, Walton seems to be leaning more on the “Hillbilly” than the “Psycho” half of her nickname. Gone are the “crazy faces”, and instead we get spitting sunflower seeds on the way to the ring, dirty overalls, and muddy boots. Just a small change in the gimmick, but what a difference it makes, because she’s great at the whole Redneck thing. Also, she’d fit right in with the townies in Moscow.</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a pre-show bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, Wendy Anderson defeated Ellie May Walton in 6:48 by pinfall with a Flying Cross Body. Match rating - 33)</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>Backstage at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> Cherry grabbed Ellie May Watson by the right arm as she came behind the curtain. Watson winced and sucked in air, but did not vocalize pain. “Just as I thought,” Cherry said. “You’re working hurt, aren’t you? That rotator cuff hasn’t healed up yet, has it?” Ellie May said nothing, her face gave nothing away. “Listen, Ellie. If you’re hurt, you shouldn’t be working. You’re going to make it worse.” Still nothing. “And your offense looked like utter crap.”</p><p> </p><p> “Come on, Cherry, if I don’t work until this arm gets better, y’all are gonna fire me!” There you go, thought Cherry, all I needed to do was prod your pride a bit.</p><p> </p><p> “Ellie, I don’t know what Anne was like after I left here, but I do know Cat and I aren’t going to release you while you’re rehabbing an injury.” Cherry let go of Ellie’s arm, and Ellie harrumphed to the locker room. At least, I don’t think we would do something like that, Cherry thought. We had better be better than that.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Next two matches on the preshow were pretty meh, but that’s why they’re preshow, right? First one was Idaho’s own Tracy Brendon beating the everloving crap out of Joanna Silver. </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/XaMRxhf.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/57sF3YA.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> I love Silver’s gimmick - the pirate thing is great - but I swear my overweight, asthmatic self might be more naturally athletic than Silver. Just brutal.</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a poor pre-show match, Tracy Brendon defeated Joanna Silver in 7:02 by pinfall with an Idaho Crunch. Match rating - 40)</em></p><p> </p><p> Next match was the Pink-Haired Punk, Simony Sentinel, teaming with veteran Suzanne Brazzle to take on Ariel Breaks and newcomer Laura Flame.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/U10U2qP.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/p39q1H6.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/weawI8F.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/A4UQJDM.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Joanna Silver came back out with Sentinel, and I’ll say, as bad as she is in the ring, she’s that good outside the ring as a manager. Sentinel and Brazzle just seemed like an awkward fit, though, so I wonder if we’ll see them pairing up again anytime soon.</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a pre-show bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Simony Sentinel & Suzanne Brazzle defeated Ariel Breaks & Laura Flame in 6:46 when Suzanne Brazzle defeated Ariel Breaks by pinfall with a Miracle Connection Match rating - 39)</em></p><p> </p><p> The show proper started with Cat Jemson coming down to the ring.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>In the ring at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/VJqkQW6.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kEkUwNO.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> “Welcome everyone to Angel Athletic Association’s Girl on Girl Action!” exclaims play-by-play announcer Jim Lou Freebush. “We welcome everyone streaming this show, and hope to see you at one of our events soon.”</p><p> </p><p> “We do love our Angels,” adds color commentator Cat Quine. “But the Angels here aren’t showing a whole lot of love to Cat Jemson. Listen to those boos!”</p><p> </p><p> “At our NorthBest Bash two weeks ago, Cat Jemson took a nasty spill during the main event, getting bounced off the ring apron off an Irish whip,” notes Freebush.</p><p> </p><p> “I’m not sure how that resulted in a black eye, but she’s sporting one heck of a shiner,” says Quine, skeptically. “Oh, joy, she’s asking for a microphone.”</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/2grrL5B.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Jemson lifts the mic to speak, and as she does, the boos rise to a crescendo. Jemson waits until the wave starts to die down, then speaks. “Two weeks ago, I was injured as a result of the negligence of Sara Marie York and Joanna Rodriguez! As I was trying to direct my clients for that evening, Steph Blake and Zoe Ammis, J-Ro - that oaf - slammed right into me at full speed. And look! Look what it did to my beautiful face!” If Jemson expects sympathy, the crowd has none to give. Jemson presses on. “Now, as a non-combatant in this organization, I should not be expected to be attacked by this company’s staff! I was fully prepared to sue this organization into the ground!” The crowd jeers the existential threat to the company this represents. “But then, I thought...Cat, you’re a reasonable woman. And mama always said, be the change you want to see in the world. So, instead of making this a legal matter, we came to an agreement. Ladies and gentlemen, you Angels all over the world, allow me to introduce the new general manager of the Angel Athletic Association - me, Cat Jemson!” She throws her arms open wide, and the crowd erupts with abuse.</p><p> </p><p> “Ladies and gentlemen, Cat Jemson has been appointed the new general manager of our organization!” says Freebush. “What will this mean for the company, and everyone who works for it?”</p><p> </p><p> “Oh, come on!” yells Cat Quine. “Her? What does she know about wrestling, except how to help her clients break the rules of the sport!”</p><p> </p><p> Over the boos of the crowd, Jemson speaks again. “And, as my first official act as the general manager of AAA, I am making a match between the women responsible for the lemons I turned into lemonade, Joanna Rodriguez and Sara Marie York, and the paradigms of professionalism, the apex of athleticism, the A-List! And, if either J-Ro or our ‘champion’ York get pinned, the pinning member of the A-List is the new AAA Femme Fatale Champion!”</p><p> </p><p> “You have got to be kidding me! Good to know our general manager is fair and balanced, and definitely not biased toward her old cronies,” snarks Quine.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Oh boy, another evil heel authority figure, yay. But cliche as it may be, Jemson’s not a bad choice. She’s annoyingly haughty, she’s pretty good on the mic, and she just wasn’t adding much to the A-List’s gimmick as a manager. Hopefully they do something interesting with it, because, I mean, honestly, this is “It was a dark and stormy night” cliche levels here <em>(Angle ratings - 56 for GM announcement, 48 for match making)</em>.</p><p> </p><p> Next up, Devil’s Daughter versus Steffi Chee. </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Ij4JV2X.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/yitWntj.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Why are they fighting? No one really knows. Wrestling for wrestling’s sake here. Suppose it might have been a warmup match. DD clocked Chee with a wrench she found under the ring and rolled Steffi into the ring for the victory. Suppose it establishes some heel cred for DD, but moving on...</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a poor match, Devil's Daughter defeated Steffi Chee in 8:10 by pinfall after using a foreign object. Match rating - 39)</em></p><p> </p><p> Looks like AAA is using their projector screen to show backstage segments. Not going to make anyone think it’s the SWF-Tron but a nice touch. A camera rushes over as Tracy Brendon and Suzanne Brazzle get up in each other’s face. These two have been beefing since I saw them in January at Pretty Amazing, plus they were the two who got counted out in the six-woman tag at More Than Meets the Eye last month. Clearly, that didn’t solve anything <em>(Angle rating - 49)</em>.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>“Backstage” at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/57sF3YA.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/p39q1H6.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Tracy Brendon points a finger right in Suzanne Brazzle’s face. “You know what, old woman? I’m tired of the way you walk around here, like because you’re old it means something. It don’t mean anything!”</p><p> </p><p> Brazzle’s trying to keep her cool, with mixed success. “You get that finger out of my face before I break it, Tracy. What is your problem?”</p><p> </p><p> “You’re my problem!” explodes Tracy. “The whole time my sister was here, she kept on telling me, respect your elders. They paved the way for us. And you know what, I played along. And then, she up and decides to quit! Not even thinking about how it affected me! I smiled, I scraped, I gave respect to her, to people like you, and I didn’t get nothing in return! So now, you get one last thing from me - a beating that’ll let you know it’s time for you to retire too.”</p><p> </p><p> Brazzle shakes her head. “Is that what is this about? Your sister? I’m not your sister, Tracy! You got a problem with her, that’s fine, go make your next holiday with the family reeeeeal interesting. But you don’t take out your family psychodrama on me, you got it?”</p><p> </p><p> The situation looks like it’s about to turn into a fist fight when Cat Jemson steps in between the two of them. “Ladies, ladies,” she intones. “Let’s calm it down a notch, at least for now. You two seem like you have a lot of aggression to work out. So, as the second act in my already-legendary reign as general manager, I am setting a match for you two to meet next month at Not Just a Pretty Face. Now, break it up! We’re not giving that match away for free back here.” Brendon and Brazzle glare at each other, not wanting to give an inch, before Brendon turns on her heel and walks out of frame. The sound of boxes and trash cans being knocked over can be heard in the distance.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Lot of fire between those two. It’s maybe a bit more psychoanalysis than wrestling fans might be used to, but it’s better than “let’s you and her fight!” in terms of reasons for matches. Speaking of reasons for matches, the screen then cut over to Jaime Quine backstage <em>(Angle rating - 53)</em>.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>“Backstage” at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5Auj7Hh.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Jaime Quine stares intensely into the camera. “Cherry, when I faced you at Pretty Amazing in January, it was nothing personal. It was a chance for me to show the world that I was ready to be counted among the elite in women’s wrestling. And I lost. You beat me, 1-2-3, no question about it. But remember - I had you for 2 and three-fourths before you countered into that powerbomb. The difference between you and me that night was less than a heartbeat. And maybe that’s what’s eating at you, Cherry, down in that black pit in your stomach, knowing how close you were to me beating you. Maybe that’s why you hit me over the head with a microphone when I wasn’t expecting it. Maybe that’s why you tossed Devil’s Daughter in my way to earn another shot at you, and then tried to screw me out of my shot. Because you were afraid if I got another shot, I’d keep you down one heartbeat longer. Maybe that’s why you beat me with a ladder two weeks ago, because you are afraid I’m going to beat you. There’s no quick pins or DQs or countouts tonight, Cherry. It’s just me, on a ladder, looking down at you. And if it wasn’t personal before, it sure is now.”</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Next match was one with potential tag title implications, as Steph Blake and Zoe Ammis took on Good Lookin’ Bunny, the team of Jessica Bunny and Katherine Goodlooks.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/2m3v59w.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/RkMOrtI.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/IdFHozc.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/dobTNEc.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> I know they’ve been around for a while, but I don’t know that I “get” Good Lookin’ Bunny. Other people in the company play their gimmicks better than they do; I dunno, maybe they get to invoke the grandmother clause or something. Speaking of grandmothers, Jessica Bunny was on the outside for almost the whole match. Seemed intentional to me. When they start leaving you on the outside in a tag match, you got to think the clock’s ticking down pretty quick. Bunny got tagged in to eat a Slingshot DDT from Steph Blake, and it was over. Blake and Ammis put the boots into Good Lookin’ Bunny afterwards, for extra heel credit <em>(Angle rating - 31)</em>.</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a decent match, Blake & Ammis defeated Good Lookin' Bunny in 9:46 when Steph Blake defeated Jessica Bunny by pinfall with a Slingshot DDT. Looks like we’re about to have a submission match!”</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> They launched right into the submission match without Croft saying a word <em>(Angle rating - 30)</em>. </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/3vdoMpU.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/F4Wr0uD.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> This match was awesome. I mean, these two just went hold for hold, chained move after chained move, non-stop for nearly 10 minutes. This was the match for the smarks in the crowd, and these two really tried to steal the show. Well, man, mission accomplished. In the end, Croft went top rope, but Svelte ran up the buckle, turned it into a superplex, then rolled it into a </p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/8eZo9F7Uidw?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="Brock Lesnar Kimura Lock On Mark Henry"></iframe></div></div>. Svelte didn’t have Croft’s arm fully locked in, though, which let Croft get to a vertical base, pull Svelte’s legs away from her torso, then step into a high-angle <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5KjFf2n6_4" rel="external nofollow">Memphis Deathlock</a> in the center of the ring. Croft held it in for maybe a count of three before Svelte tapped. Thrilling match, my favorite of the night. After the match, two security guys helped Svelte hobble from the ring, while Croft just climbed the turnbuckle to watch her opponent limp away. It was the only time she smiled, and it was far, far less comforting than her normal flat affect, let me tell you <em>(Angle rating - 30)</em>.<p> </p><p> <em>(In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Paige Croft defeated Selina Svelte in a Submission match in 9:24 by submission. Because you’re young and stupid, Jaime. I was young once - never as stupid as you, but not as smart as I am now - and I wouldn’t have backed down either. But what you need to understand is, how matches like these take years off your career. I’ve been in several of these. I’ve been in cage matches, strap matches, dog collar matches, you name it, I’ve done it. Now, I’m going to be 40 years old this month. And I am still the most dominant woman in AAA at 40. Even after I’ve had all of those matches. What does that say about me, except to say that I am an unstoppable force the likes of which this industry has never seen? But you are not me, Jaime. Your career has an expiration date. You step into this ring with me tonight, and you are going to move that expiration date forward in time. Who knows by how much? A year? Two years? Five years? Or, maybe, by the time I’m done with you little girl, that expiration date will be tonight. So if you know what’s good for you, when your music hits, you stay back behind that curtain.”</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The match itself was ferocious.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Dw8k489.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/5Auj7Hh.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The ladders didn’t come into play in the early going, as neither Quine nor Cherry could get much going before momentum swung the opposite way. Finally, Cherry clotheslined Quine over the top rope with enough force to send both women out of the ring. Cherry grabbed a ladder, but Quine dropkicked the ladder into Cherry, then stomped on the ladder while Cherry was buried underneath it. Quine tried for a diving stomp onto the ladder, but Cherry threw the ladder up at her as she descended, taking Quine out. After a few more ladder shots, Cherry slid the ladder halfway into the ring - too slowly, as Quine used her kickboxing training to crane kick the ladder under her chin. Quine got into the ring, bounced off the far ropes, and then baseball slid into the ladder, taking Cherry down.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>In the ring at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> The crowd cheers as Jaime Quine gets to her feet. She pulls the ladder into the ring, and the crowd begins buzzing. Cherry Bomb’s not getting up, and the path to victory is clear. The crane kick to the ladder earlier isn’t doing her any favors, and she’s moving gingerly on her right foot. Exhausted, Jaime sets the ladder up, and she starts to climb the ladder. Her pace is agonizingly slow, but she keeps moving up. “I know I’m supposed to be impartial,” says Cat Quine on commentary. “But forget it, I can’t be. Go, Jaime, you can do it. Climb that ladder, Jaime! Make yourself famous!” Jaime Quine’s fingertips are brushing the bag above the ring. The bag sways as it dangles just barely out of reach. Cherry Bomb is just starting to stir, but she’s not going to make it in time.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Ij4JV2X.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> And then, suddenly, the ladder is tipped over by Devil’s Daughter, running in from the back. Jaime Quine crashes to the canvas in a heap. “Oh, no, come on!” yells Cat Quine. Devil’s Daughter sets the ladder up as Cherry Bomb rolls into the ring. Clearly disoriented still, Devil’s Daughter helps Cherry up the first few rungs, then starts kicking at the downed Jaime Quine. “Not like this!” exclaims Cat Quine, but it doesn’t make a difference as Cherry Bomb loosens the bag from its hook and falls to the canvas. The bell rings, and whether she got help or not does not matter - the record books will state Cherry Bomb won this grueling ladder match.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> It was an epic match, a real war between the two of them. This marked the second time in three months that Jaime Quine had been this close to a victory over Cherry Bomb before it’s snatched out of her hands. Devil’s Daughter helped Cherry get to the back while Cherry celebrated the entire way down, throwing her arms up in the air and yelling “BOOM”, at least until she needed to fall back onto DD for support. The crowd gave Jaime Quine a healthy round of applause as she got to her feet, but Quine could not enjoy the cheers as she limped back behind the curtain <em>(Angle rating - 57)</em>.</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Cherry Bomb defeated Jaime Quine in a Ladder match in 22:43 when Cherry Bomb retrieved the item after Jaime Quine had been taken out by Devil's Daughter. They got it with a video clip of Sara Marie York and J-Ro talking backstage <em>(Angle rating - 66)</em> and a promo by the A-List <em>(Angle rating - 54)</em>.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>“Backstage” at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/4WuhyP5.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/nU2biRU.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The video projector shows Sara Marie York, her Femme Fatale championship draped across her shoulder, taping her fists for the upcoming match. Joanne Rodriguez, ready for the match, comes up to her as she finishes taping. “Sara, listen. This entire match is crap. I don’t know why on earth they let that preening prima donna get so much power.”</p><p> </p><p> York nods. “I don’t either, but what matters is that we have to deal with things as they are, not as they should be. And as they are means we have a general manager with an axe to grind against us and the willingness to bend the rules until she gets what she wants.”</p><p> </p><p> “Sara...look.” J-Ro sighs. “I’m not going to be the weak link. I promise. I’m not going to lose your title tonight.”</p><p> </p><p> York smiles. “Joanne, we’re a team. If you get pinned, then I’ve let you down too. But you know what? All we have to do tonight is win. We do that, we don’t have to worry about whose fault it is.” York puts her fist out, and J-Ro fistbumps her back.</p><p> </p><p> “Easy enough,” says J-Ro. “Let’s go win us a match.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>In the ring at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/VcZ3dx5.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/AWOWtpe.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> After the video clip ends, Demelza Wade and Nadia Snow - the A-List - come to the ring. They look supremely confident and self-satisfied. When they get into the ring, Demelza puts her hand out, waiting for a microphone. A ring crew member delivers it, and Wade shoos him away. “I just want to thank our new general manager, Cat Jemson, for making the right decision for tonight’s main event. We are the A-List! We are the faces that sell out places! We bring glitz and glamour to the lives of all you little people. The Femme Fatale championship is the pinnacle of women in our sport. Sara Marie York and her crony Joanne Rodriguez are not A-List material, they are unworthy of such an honor. And so, tonight, we take what is rightfully ours. Tonight, Sara Marie York’s brush with greatness will be over - along with her championship.”</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The crowd was ready to go when the bell rung on this one. </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/AWOWtpe.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/VcZ3dx5.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/4WuhyP5.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/nU2biRU.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The early going had J-Ro playing the babyface in peril role, with several close two-counts. York got the hot tag off a J-Ro desperation enziguri to Nadia Snow, but the ref missed it due to Demelza Wade rushing into the ring right before the tag was made. Finally, another couple of close counts before York got the hot tag, this time with the ref seeing it clear as day. York came in like a house on fire, but eventually Snow chopblocked York while she was dealing with Wade to end that adrenaline burst. York crawled over to J-Ro and made the tag. J-Ro hit the J-Rocker on Wade, who couldn’t stop her momentum trying to break up York and J-Ro’s tag. Good for a two count, but not enough to put Wade away. J-Ro tried to hit a second J-Rocker, but Wade pushed J-Ro off and into the A-List’s corner. Snow forearms J-Ro from behind, opening J-Ro to walk right into Wade’s SuperstarKick.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>In the ring at AAA Girl on Girl Action</em><p> </p><p> “And a superkick from Demelza Wade puts down Joanne Rodriguez!”</p><p> </p><p> “That kick has won the Femme Fatale championship for Demelza Wade in the past, Jim,” notes Cat Quine. “It’s dirty, it’s underhanded, how this match came together, but right now, it looks like our new general manager Cat Jemson’s revenge against Sara Marie York and J-Ro worked.”</p><p> </p><p> Wade lifts her arms in victory, to the boos of the crowd. Nadia Snow, in the corner, waves toward Wade and extends her arm for the tag. Wade freezes, arms in the air, when she sees Snow. Snow extends her arm again, this time more insistently. Wade finally drops her arms, points to the still downed J-Ro, then points to herself. Snow shakes her head “no”, and emphatically points to herself. “Jim, it looks like the A-List aren’t on the same page on who’s going to be the champion!” As the A-List argue, gesticulating wildly, J-Ro stirs and crawls toward York, who’s gotten back up on the apron. The crowd starts cheering as J-Ro’s about to make the tag, which is enough to get Wade’s attention. How they’ve not been picked up by a big company, I’ll never know. Dirtsheets say Alicia Strong is afraid of J-Ro and York overshadowing her. Years of teaming together definitely showed.</p><p> </p><p> All in all, it was a great show. I’m hooked. They come within a few hours of me, I’m scrounging up the gas money and going. Bonus Question: A member of the AAA roster will become AAA's General Manager at this event. Who will it be? <strong>Cat Jemson</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Second Bonus Question: What will the final rating be? Previous North West region shows have been rated 51, 55, and 52. <strong>Show rating was 60</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Since we only got main card predictions from Doc and Wolf, looking at the predictions, Doc got one more match correct - Jaime Quine's ascent was stopped cold in the ladder match (though she did get a Pop boost). Doc, you were right on in terms of the reasons why the A-List lost, despite picking them, so that's like a half-point, right? <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Wolf went a perfect three-for-three in the preshow, and both of you apparently saw my Cat Jemson general manager twist coming from a mile away. Oh well, sometimes the best booking is the most obvious booking right? Wolf was one number closer in terms of the final show score.</p><p> </p><p>

So, it's kind of up in the air about who "won" this one. But, since Wolf got to pick the L.W.A. Incident with the last prediction victory, I'll award this one to Doc. It's a very prestigious award. No leg lamps, but how about your pick the next wrestler for a spotlight feature? I'll send you a private message about it.</p><p> </p><p>

Thank you Doc and Wolf for playing along at home, and thank you to everyone who's reading the diary. Was this last one too long? Would you prefer a two-parter instead? Other things I could do narratively that would make this a most enjoyable, captivating read? Comment away and let me know what you'd like to see, and I'll see if I can make it happen.</p><p> </p><p>

And now, a bonus story interlude...</p><p> </p><p>

<em>In the locker rooms after AAA Girl on Girl Action</em></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Dw8k489.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

After the fans had gone home, Cherry went back to the locker room to change back into her civilian clothes. Most of the girls had already headed out to a local bar. The promise of the place having a mechanical bull was apparently a good enough reason to hurry. Cherry realized she was not alone when she hurt a locker shut. She peeked around the corner to see Joanne Rodriguez had just finished packing her bags. “Hey, Joanie,” Cherry said. Joanne startled.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/nU2biRU.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

“Oh, Cherry, it’s you,” she said. "You scared me half to death.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Sorry, didn’t mean to sneak up on you. Or shout. These old locker rooms are like echo chambers,” Cherry replied. She walked over to Joanne, leaning on the row of lockers. “Looked like someone slipped you a business card during the autograph session tonight.”</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne’s face was utterly noncommittal. “You saw that?” Joanne chuckled. “Cherry, is there anything you don’t see?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Unfortunately for me on several occasions, I do see pretty much everything,” Cherry said with a laugh in her voice. “Business card, though.”</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne’s eyes looked away from Cherry. “He, uh, said he had a business deal he wanted to talk to me about.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cherry’s tone grew serious. “Guy looked like kind of a creep to me. He wasn’t representing an 'adult entertainment' company, was he? We’ve had a few of those kind come to our shows.”</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne’s eyes grew wide for a moment, and then she laughed. “Oh, Cherry, no, no. God no. Nothing like that.” Joanne breathed a sigh of relief.</p><p> </p><p>

“Good. If he had, we would have asked for the building’s security footage, so we circulate it to the security crew, so he could be ever-so-kindly escorted from the premises if he showed up again. I was worried that he might have been one of the ones we’ve had before, wearing a hoodie to try and sneak in,” said Cherry, her disdain evident. Then, brighter, she asked, “Well, if he wasn’t a porno ‘artist’, what did he want?”</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne hesitated. “He…well, he didn’t really say. Just gave me his card and asked me to call him later this week. I dunno, maybe he wants me to do an endorsement or something. I don’t really know.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cherry nodded. “Obviously, we’re not SWF or USPW or even North of the Border. We know you all have other gigs besides this to make money and we’re definitely not against that. Whatever he’s selling, if this guy wants you to endorse something, just make sure you ask Cat first. It’s in the standard contract language if you want to get all legal about it, which nobody wants. Look, I mean, as long as it’s nothing that’s going to make the company look bad, Cat’ll say yes.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Oh, I’ll definitely talk to Cat about it,” Joanne said. “Absolutely, I’ll make sure to do so.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cherry stood straight up again and started walking back to her locker. The rest of the girls would already be about three drinks in by the time she got to this ridiculous bar. “Thanks, Joanne. You’ve always been one of the responsible ones. Remind to tell you the one time USPW had to order one of their former workers to cease and desist using their trademarks as part of their Chippendales’ routine.”</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne laughed. “That sounds hilarious. Maybe tell me at the bar?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Sure,” Cherry said, as Joanne left Cherry alone in the locker room. Things didn’t sit right with Cherry. On one hand, it really wasn’t any of Cherry’s business if Joanne had a side project. That was Cat’s to deal with; these sorts of things were why she was glad she didn’t run the company. On the other hand, Joanne generally was a pretty straight-shooter, and it was unlike her to be as evasive as she had been. Then again, they had just finished a two-hour show after being there two hours beforehand with another hour of post-show autograph signings. Maybe Joanne just didn’t want to talk business after a long night. Cherry shrugged, for no one particular’s benefit, and started pulling her civvies out of her gym bag. There was a group of about a dozen young women who needed to see that Cherry was just as good at handling a mechanical bull as she was at working a crowd.</p>

<p>Great update as usual. Is JRo disappearing to the big league? USPW? NOTBPW? It would be sad to lose a star like that.</p><p> </p><p>

I don't know what happened with the dark matches in my prediction. I feel like this is a very heelish way to win, like an intentional DQ to retain a title. I'll take it, but with a big asterisk, and only because I think MrWolf101 won't be *that* mad about it. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

As for the main event, maybe I should be more confident in my intuition... Really though, it was good booking that gave narrative reason for why the match could go either way. Which I guess is why I got it wrong...</p>

AAA's able to get workers popular enough and skilled enough that the big players swoop in. I played around with AAA in TEW '13 a bit, and just about my entire main event scene got taken within a three-month span. It was brutal.</p>

<p>Haha, I'm okay with Dr_Avalanche taking this one. It wouldn't feel right winning on a technicality anyway. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I think the length of shows is fine from my point of view. You are weaving a lot together with the different viewpoints, but it works, and is one of the things that makes this diary so good.</p><p> </p><p>

I am interested to know what is going on with Joanne. She's my favorite in TEW if you haven't noticed. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>The Biggest Stage of Them All - 3/11/16</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Atlanta, Georgia</strong></p><p><strong>

Thursday, March 11, 2016</strong></p><p><strong>

1:43 pm</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/nU2biRU.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Joanne Rodriguez stood outside the Reverie Center. It was, simply put, enormous. A massive complex of television studios, a hotel, stores and restaurants. The kind of place a person might get lost in the crowd. Joanne crossed the massive atrium - larger than some of the venues she'd wrestled in - to a visitor information desk. "Excuse me," she said to a bored-looking security guard. "I've got a meeting with Robert Sanchez. Entertainment production division. My name's Joanne Rodriguez." The guard lazily typed her information in.</p><p> </p><p>

"All right, Ms. Rodriguez. You're checked in. Please wear this temporary ID badge while you're in the complex. Take that elevator," he said, pointing to an elevator with armed guards flanking it, "up to the 12th floor." Joanne nodded and headed toward the elevator, the armed guards not even acknowledging her as she entered. A few seconds later, she was let out into an expansive lobby with yet another desk, and behind the desk, the most famous logo in professional wrestling right now.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/9u2gi3f.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Joanne walked to the front desk. "Joanne Rodriguez. I'm here to see Robert Sanchez." The receptionist got on the phone to call back to Sanchez, but before he had finished dialing, a booming voice called out.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/8t5SWF1.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

"Joanne! So good to see you. Come on back to my office." As Joanne walked behind Robert, she passed by posters of USPW stars past and present. Sam Strong. Giant Redwood. Steve Frehley. Captain USA. Tyson Baine. Alicia Strong. The hallways buzzed with activity, phones ringing out, full conference rooms, flat screen panels everywhere running promos for Reverie's line up, including USPW offerings "American Wrestling" and the new "KickStart" that began taping in January. It was a far cry from the converted machine shop that AAA called home.</p><p> </p><p>

Robert seemed to sense Joanne's thoughts as he led her into a corner office that was bigger than any apartment Joanne had ever had. "There's a lot going on, but even if it seems chaotic, we run a tight ship here." Sanchez's office was the kind of restrained good taste that indicates extreme wealth. Everything was smooth, hyper-modern...and somewhat sterile. But the floor to ceiling windows with views of downtown Atlanta were nothing short of breathtaking. "Can I get you anything? Water, juice, energy drink?" he offered.</p><p> </p><p>

"Oh, uh, a water would be good, thank you," Joanne replied.</p><p> </p><p>

Sanchez nodded. He pressed a button on a phone that seemed like it would look more at home on the bridge of a starship. "Bryan, could you get Ms. Rodriguez a bottled water? Wait, hold on." He looked at Rodriguez. "Joanne, do you have any specific brand you prefer?"</p><p> </p><p>

The thought of having a bottled water preference had, quite literally, never crossed Joanne's mind before this moment. "I, uh, no. Anything is fine by me."</p><p> </p><p>

Sanchez smiled. "Bryan, bring Joanne a Coldharbour Springs." Turning his attention back to Joanne, he gestured to a chair that looked about as expensive as Joanne's monthly income. "Please, sit, sit."</p><p> </p><p>

"Thank you, Mr. Sanchez," she said. As she sat down, Sanchez waved his hands.</p><p> </p><p>

"Please, just call me Robbie. That's what people in the business have been calling me for years. I might not be in the locker room any more, but I'd like to think I'm still one of the boys."</p><p> </p><p>

"Okay, then, thank you for inviting me here today, Robbie." It felt weird for her to call something so personal when she had never met the man until she saw him at the front desk just a few minutes ago. <em>But if the man wants me to call him Robbie, he's certainly offering to pay me enough for me to do as he asks...</em></p><p> </p><p>

"Let me thank you for giving us a call after our man out in the field gave you my card! I understand what AAA represents to this industry, particularly the women in this industry. Anne Stardust, she created a place for women in this industry to work when no one in this country would give them a chance. What she did was nothing short of spectacular, in the face of everyone in this industry saying it would never catch on. We were wrong. When Sam Strong took over this company in 2006, he knew Anne had proven there was a market and an audience for women in wrestling. Creating a women's division was a priority for him. 2007, we crowned our first USPW Women's Champion - Cherry Bomb, point of fact. I understand Sherie's returned to AAA?" Sanchez asked.</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne wasn't sure if he was looking for her to respond or if the question was rhetorical, so she decided to venture an answer. "Yes, Cherry's taken over as head trainer for the Cat's Lair and she's assistant booker. And she's still working in-ring, too." Bryan - the young man at the front desk - nearly startled her when he presented Joanne with her requested water. He was quiet enough she wondered whether he was classified as an office ninja instead of administrative staff. "Thank you," she said, maybe a little too sharply. She could feel her nerves, and she was hoping they weren't showing. She had a job to do here.</p><p> </p><p>

Sanchez sighed. "It was a real shame that Cherry and us couldn't come to an agreement. But, that's the past. Let's talk about the future - specifically, your future."</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne took a deep breath. <em>Here goes</em>, she thought. "I've had a chance to look over your contract terms. You've got my monthly pay at $6,000." <em>I've never made that much in a month in my life.</em> "Which is good, but..." She let it hang for a moment or two, "...it's a little lower than I think I'm worth." Sanchez's eyebrows twitched upward, but he said nothing. "$8,000 seems more like what I was thinking."</p><p> </p><p>

"I do want to point out the revenue sharing clause on merchandise sales included in your contract," Sanchez said, a lawyerly tone creeping into his voice. "The $6,000 monthly salary we're offering does not take your percentage of merchandise sales into account, nor does it take into account potential film or television opportunities that may open up for you as a result of your global exposure through the Reverie Network."</p><p> </p><p>

<em>He's saying no without saying no.</em> "Robbie, I appreciate that and I'm sure USPW will produce great merchandise - I promised my niece a Joanne Rodriguez action figure." She smiled. "But that money can fluctuate, particularly if you have me work heel. Merch sales always go down...why am I explaining this to you, I'm sure you know that way better than me." Sanchez remained stone faced. "I want to make sure I have a steady income for the two-year run of this contract. And I'll prove I'm worth every penny of that $8,000."</p><p> </p><p>

Robbie Sanchez twitched his lips for a bit. "$6,900. That's as high as we'll go."</p><p> </p><p>

Joanne paused. It was true USPW's women division was in something of a bind. She had leverage.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/lqRIdUF.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/ehMRMdR.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Alicia Strong had just worked her way back from a fairly serious ankle injury, which could limit what she could do even now that she was "healed". And the women's division took another loss when Lora Washington - "Miss American Pie", the Cat's Lair dropout who went to Babes of Sin City and accidentally helped put it out of business - herniated a disc earlier this month. At the same time, there were other women who could take this spot. Joanne needed USPW more than USPW needed her.</p><p> </p><p>

AAA had been good to her, but she had been good to AAA, too. She had given 15 years to AAA. When she started a good night was 250 people; now, AAA could pull 2,500 to the gate easy. She had made decent enough money, but this offer was more than an extra $3,000 a month in income even at $6,900. She could finally start putting money away in a retirement fund. Her and Benny, they could start building up their emergency savings fund like they had agreed to years ago when they first got married. Maybe, just maybe, they could finally have a child without Joanne losing the income she brought.</p><p> </p><p>

"$6,900 is fair," Joanna said, making sure to have let the silence hang for a little bit. Sanchez grinned, widely. "But there's one additional thing I want as part of this signing."</p><p> </p><p>

"Which is?" Sanchez asked, hesitantly.</p><p> </p><p>

It was a leap, maybe presumptuous to think she had any pull to make it happen, but she had a responsibility to make sure she was not the only one to benefit from USPW's interest. "There's someone else in AAA that I've done incredible work with in the past. I told her I was coming here, and she was interested in coming to work for USPW - especially if I was coming. The women I've worked with in AAA, we're like a family. And in particular, one of my sisters has worked hard for years and deserves the spotlight just as much as me. Are you willing to hire not just me?"</p><p> </p><p>

Sanchez leaned back into his chair and steepled his fingers. "Maybe. Maybe. Depends on who it is. You tell me who you want, and we'll see if we have the salary overhead - if we think they're ready for prime time."</p><p> </p><p>

3/15/16 - Card Prediction for AAA Midwest Mayhem II

Looks like J-RO is def. a goner. Bur who else is going with her? Miss Sara perhaps?

You'll just have to wait and see ;) And honestly, not for very much longer...

Cat Quine's Office, AAA Headquarters

Tacoma, Washington

Monday, March 15, 2016

"Those lousy, no-good, sons of..." Cat Quine trailed off. It wasn't like she hadn't said it repeatedly over the past few days. She stared out the window overlooking the Cat's Lair.

http://i.imgur.com/kEkUwNO.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/Dw8k489.jpg

"You know I don't have a whole lot of love for USPW either," said Cherry. "They basically spat in my face with their last offer. But Cat," Cherry said, "it's going to happen."

Cat sighed. "Yeah, I know. I know. Just...I dunno. Joanne's been here for 11 years."

"Long time to be in any one place in our business, Cat," Cherry said.

"I've been here since Day 1 of AAA. I've been here for 20 years. I guess I just thought, I don't know. Loyalty means something in this business." She sank down into her office chair. She had made sure to replace Anne's. Nothing was wrong with the chair, of course. Nothing physical, at least.

Cherry sat on the edge of the desk. "Cat, she's going to make just about double of what we can pay her. She's 35 years old and you never know when your body is going to start failing on you. She's never had a single televised match." Cat finally looked at Cherry. "When I left AAA back in 2007, it was easy for me."

Cat arched an eyebrow. "You didn't seem all that broken up at the time, no."

Cherry shrugged. "I wasn't an original. Not like you. I wasn't part of Anne's inner circle. I wasn't there when you first started this thing. I was 12 when AAA started. And yes, I am reminding you that you're old again." The women laughed. "When Sam Strong called and asked me if I wanted to come to Atlanta, I jumped at the opportunity. He said I was going to be their first champion. Between you, Anne, Suzue, and Wanda, I was stuck as a jobber to the stars here. And he was offering money such that I never had to eat ramen again, unless I wanted to. So I took the offer, and I was their first women's champion, and after they took the belt off me in 2008, they didn't know what to do with me for years, it's true. But believe me, I was cashing those checks - in fact, cashing those checks, investing well, that's what allowed me to come back here a year ago. Because even with their low-ball offer, USPW was still offering me more than I make now."

"Anne didn't tell me that," Cat said.

"I got a feeling there was a lot Anne didn't tell you, Cat."

Cat rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I keep finding that out."

Cherry continued. "Anyway. AAA lost me. Lost Kristabel Plum." Cat's lip curled involuntarily at the name. "Lost Gorgon. What happened? Joanne stepped up. Sara stepped up. Suzanne elevated her game. When AAA loses one star, AAA makes another. AAA is bigger than any one person, always has been. Joanne is going to be a loss, but we've got a roster waiting to step up."

Cat chuckled. "You always this inspirational, or only when we lose our biggest merch seller?" Cherry crossed her arms. "I know, I know, you're right. You usually are."

"Usually?"

"Don't push your luck, bub," Cat said with a smile. "All right, Ms. Smarty Pants, let's get over to SeaTac just in case the security lines are ridiculous." Cherry hopped off the desk and grabbed her rolling suitcase - cherry red, of course - already packed for the flight. Cat followed behind with her purple suitcase, AAA "Wings" logo embroidered on the front. As Cherry opened the door, she heard the text message notification sound on Cat's phone.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me! Are you friggin' serious?" Cat yelled.

"Cat, what's wrong?" asked Cherry.

"Those Atlanta bastards weren't content with just stealing Joanne out from under us! They're poaching another one of our girls!"

Sara Taylor vs. Kate Lilly

Main Show

Simony Sentinel & Christy Higgins vs. Kate Lilly & Debbie Rose, AAA Tag Team Championship Match

Cherry Bomb vs. Steffi Chee

Steph Blake vs. Joanne Rodriguez - If J-Ro loses, she is fired from AAA

Devil's Daughter vs. Sara Marie York, AAA Femme Fatale Championship Match

Bonus Question 1: The Wentzville Ice Arena has a capacity of 750. Will Midwest Mayhem II sell out the venue? For reference, Midwest Mayhem I sold out a 500 seat arena, and AAA's popularity has increased by 1 in the Midwest since that show.

Bonus Question 2: Which worker, besides J-Ro, has USPW (a.k.a. Those Atlanta Bastards) signed away from AAA?

Bonus Question 3/Tie Breaker: What will be the final show score? For reference, the last AAA show in the North West was a 60, while the previous Midwest show was a 54.

Ah, J-Ro, you're breaking my heart.

Pre-show

Ariel Breaks vs. Christy Higgins

Ariel still has some work to put in before she can start winning matches like this.

Sara Taylor vs. Kate Lilly

Double duty for Kate?

Main Show

Simony Sentinel vs. Kate Lilly & Debbie Rose, AAA Tag Team Championship Match

I'm guessing someone is being added as Simony's partner, but even so, Lilly and Rose should still take this. :)

Cherry Bomb vs. Steffi Chee

If Quine's not leaving, I'll say a post-match attack is in order.

Steph Blake vs. Joanne Rodriguez - If J-Ro loses, she is fired from AAA

Maybe there's a swerve here, but Steph is a good candidate to step up with AAA being raided.

Devil's Daughter vs. Sara Marie York, AAA Femme Fatale Championship Match

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Is Sara the USPW signing? Probably. But I can't see DD being the one to take the belt off of her to be honest.

Bonus Question 1: The Wentzville Ice Arena has a capacity of 750. Will Midwest Mayhem II sell out the venue? I'll go no, with 550 in attendance.

Bonus Question 2: Which worker, besides J-Ro, has USPW (a.k.a. Those Atlanta Bastards) signed away from AAA? Playing off of my predicition above, I don't think it's York. That leaves Snow, Wade and Quine. I'll say Nadia Snow, and keep my fingers crossed.

Bonus Question 3/Tie Breaker: What will be the final show score? For reference, the last AAA show in the North West was a 60, while the previous Midwest show was a 54. I'll go one more than last time, 55.

Yes, Christy Higgins will be Simony Sentinel's partner. Fixed in the post - you got time if you want to change your prediction...

Sell out.

Initially I was thinking Sara but now its def Nadia, especially with her not being on the card

Before seeing the card, I could have taken poison that Sara was the other poached worker, so I go on the assumption that you have made up some story with DD as a transitional champion before some more worthy babyface can claim the title.

When the audience dies down again, she goes right into her spiel. “Two weeks ago, I became general manager after one Joanna Rodriguez - “ A slight cheer goes up “ - after she ran into me full speed. Her actions, and those of her partner, Sara Marie York, were reckless and irresponsible, not befitting the champion of our organization. But like the rat she is, J-Ro managed to squirm away from her match with the A-List unscathed. Oh, also, I’m sorry to say, Demelza and Nadia are not here. They had better things to do than travel halfway across this country and make your sad little lives better.” The fans cheer the absence of the A-List while Jemson scowls. “But J-Ro, you’re not off the hook that easy. Get out here, now!”</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/nU2biRU.jpg</span></p><p> J-Ro’s music plays as she comes to the ring. She glares a hole through Jemson from the moment she steps through the curtain. Jemson waits until J-Ro gets a few feet from her. “All right, Joanne.” The way Jemson says “Joanne” makes it sound like an insult, or a curse. “I’m sure you and your little friend Sara thought you were so clever. That you evaded the consequences of your actions. But you, as usual, were wrong. You will apologize to me, right now, on your knees, for running into me and almost ruining this beautiful face!” The crowd jeers as Jemson thrusts the mic at J-Ro. J-Ro looks around at the crowd before taking the mic.</p><p> </p><p> “Cat, I am sorry,” J-Ro says. The crowd lightly boos at one of their heroes knuckling under Jemson abusing her authority. “I’m sorry that your plan to get the belt off Sara and onto your cronies didn’t work. I’m sorry your cronies were too busy infighting to get the job done! I’m sorry the AAA Board gave the authority to go fetch coffee, much less run this place! And I’m sorry for all of these fans, having to listen to you!” The crowd cheers its approval with each faux-apology, and pops as J-Ro thrusts the mic right into Jemson’s sternum.</p><p> </p><p> The two women lock eyes. Jemson doesn’t break her stare as she slowly takes the mic back. “That. Is It. I am tired of your disrespect. I am tired,” she says, sweeping her arm toward the audience, “of their disrespect! It’s clear to me that I need to make it entirely clear just who you are dealing with here. So, tonight, J-Ro, it’s you and Steph Blake, one-on-one in this ring. And if you lose, you. Are. Fired!” The crowd erupts with anger. Jemson nods her head, a manic smirk on her face. “That’s right, you leave, you can pack your bags and you can get on out of here for good! And one more thing! If your little buddy Sara Marie York interferes in any way, shape, or form, you are immediately disqualified - immediately gone!” Cat smiles, a malicious Cheshire Cat grin. “Now you know just who you’re messin’ with, chump.”</p><p> </p><p> J-Ro swipes the mic back. “Yeah, Cat, I see exactly who I’m messing with. Good thing that corset’s laced up real tight, because otherwise Silver probably could manage to uppercut and knock herself out with her own chest. Regardless of physical, ahem, “assets”, Silver has an infectious energy and got the crowd to yell “ahoy!” instead of counting to 10 during a top-turnbuckle punch spot. But the crafty veterans took advantage of a bit of chaos as Rose swept Higgins’ legs out from under her while she was standing on the apron. Whether you...people...know it or not, you deserve so much better than ‘J-Ro’ to aspire to. She lowers the bar so much, the bar is subterranean! No, with her gone, by my hand, you will rightfully see me as your new idol. Your new inspiration. I mean, you will never, could never, be even a fraction of who I am. And even if I lose this match - don’t say anything, Sara, just listen to me - even if I lose and I’m forced out of AAA, keep up the fight. Was a little surprised to see it as the second-to-last match on the card, but I suppose the AAA title is bigger than any one worker - even one as legendary as J-Ro. We stream our shows worldwide - ten years ago, we’d be lucky if we could get fliers posted in a coffee shop! And that growth is because of you. Because you believe in us, you believe in what we stand for. You believe in a world where a little girl can see herself reflected in us as a hero, a champion, a success. What J-Ro said is basically the reason I started writing the entries on this here website. Am I shouting out into a void? I was afraid I might be, at first. But you came, and you read those words, and you added your own words, and made this truly special.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/nU2biRU.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/2m3v59w.jpg</span></p><p> The match had to live up to that opening. If it failed to do so, it wasn’t for lack of trying and it didn’t fail by much. This was a long match, and a testament to the conditioning of both J-Ro and Steph Blake. The women started off slow, equal amounts of offense without any big moves, but around the thirteen minute mark, Blake caught J-Ro on the apron with a kick to the gut, bending J-Ro over. Blake quickly set up a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqeS2StdjUs" rel="external nofollow">rope hung DDT</a>, and nailed it. Blake’s got about a legit dozen or so go-to DDT variants, and the rope hung DDT is one of the nastiest looking. It’s why the woman’s managed to get DDTs over as a something more than a transitional move. J-Ro ragdolled as Blake turned her over for the pin. 1...2...and kickout right before 3! Crowd cheered to see their hero keep going. J-Ro played dazed for a few more minutes, eating a good deal of Blake’s offense, before hitting a drop toe hold on Blake as she was coming in for a corner splash. Blake ate turnbuckle, and J-Ro went for the cover. 1...2...and another kickout. J-Ro looked despondent as the match crossed the 20 minute mark. J-Ro goes for a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1gsYMf9Ozs" rel="external nofollow">J-Rocker</a>, but when J-Ro turned Blake pushed her off into the ropes. J-Ro went throat-first into top rope, knocking the air out of J-Ro as Blake dropped as well. The crowd cheered as both women slowly willed themselves up off the canvas. The women traded big, slow haymakers, staggering with each punch but neither falling, neither wanting to give an inch. J-Ro finally managed to land a few punches on Blake, and started getting a second wind. J-Ro took to the air on a flying clothesline off an Irish whip. J-Ro got back to her feet and pumped her fist up in the air, calling for the J-Rocker. This time, she hit it perfectly and made the cover as the ref’s hand slapped down one-two-three for the win!</p><p> </p><p> ...Except Blake got her foot up onto the ropes. The ref waved off his three count while J-Ro thought she got the victory. The ref went up to J-Ro and started wildly gesticulating to let her know Blake got her foot up on the ropes. J-Ro was still processing this information when Steph Blake spear tackled J-Ro, the momentum carrying both women out of the ring. The ref - who amazingly enough got out of the way instead of being taken out - started a ten count. J-Ro stirred at five, and rolled into the ring at seven, just as Blake started to stir. Blake got to her feet as the ref hit nine. The ref almost counted ten when Blake pulls herself up onto the ring apron. J-Ro immediately went in for a punch, which Blake ducked, instead ramming her shoulder into J-Ro between the top and middle rope, doubling J-Ro over. That was enough of an opening for Blake to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNm1hFG1wCk" rel="external nofollow">slingshot</a> herself over the ropes, take J-Ro by the head, and spin around into something like a tornado DDT that drove J-Ro into the canvas like a railroad spike. Blake fell backwards onto J-Ro’s prone body, and neither woman moved as the ref made a three count. Your winner, Steph Blake.</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a decent match, Steph Blake defeated Joanne Rodriguez in 32:53 by pinfall with a Slingshot DDT. She immediately went to J-Ro, checking on her. The fans stopped booing the outcome of the match to instead chant, “Thank you J-Ro! Thank you J-Ro!” Rodriguez got up to her feet with York’s help, looking like she was barely holding off crying. With York helping her, she climbed one turnbuckle and soaked up the audience’s love, yelling her love back at them. With each buckle she climbed, she needed less help. After climbing all four buckles, she and York hugged in the middle of the ring. After a good minute or so, during which J-Ro said something in York’s ear that the camera doesn’t pick up, J-Ro broke the embrace and applauded the audience one last time, before bowing and pointing to York, then leaving the ring. J-Ro took her last walk down the aisle in AAA with her head held high. <em>(Angle rating - 58)</em></p><p> </p><p> Once the applause died down, York grabbed a mic.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>In the ring at AAA Midwest Mayhem II</em><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/4WuhyP5.jpg</span></p><p> The crowd was still chanting “Thank you J-Ro!” as Sara Marie York began to speak. “I just want to say, it has been an honor to work with Joanne Rodriguez for 11 years. She is not only an amazing wrestler, but also an amazing person. I’ll miss her, and I hope I see her again soon.” She starts to pace a bit. “But let’s talk about why I’m going to miss her. Let’s talk about who’s responsible. Let’s talk about Cat Jemson.” The mere mention of her name sets off the crowd. “What happened here tonight was a travesty. A woman fought for her career, and for what? To prove a point? To feed our general manager’s inflated ego? J-Ro stood up to Cat’s bullying. She may have lost tonight, but what she didn’t lose was her pride. She got to walk down that aisle tonight with her head held high. She didn’t back down to anyone. And neither will I. Cat, thanks for making this match tonight. I’ve got some feelings I’d like to work out. But I want you to know this - you can do what you want to me, but I will never bow down to you!” <em>(Angle rating - 60)</em></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> After the previous match, you’d understand if the crowd was drained. But York’s speech seemed to keep their energy going as Devil’s Daughter got her “reward” for helping Cherry Bomb cheat Jaime Quine out of a victory at Girl on Girl Action two weeks ago.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Ij4JV2X.jpg</span> <strong>vs. </strong><span>http://i.imgur.com/4WuhyP5.jpg</span></p><p> York came out at the bell fired up, hitting rapid fire scoop slams and short-armed clotheslines. DD was clearly unprepared to face a fired-up York right out of the gate, and when the opportunity presented itself, she rolled out of the ring to collect herself. It didn’t work, though, as York baseball slid into her face, sending DD against the guard rail. York went to the apron and went for a diving axe handle, but DD dropped out of the way and York went ribs first onto the guard rail. DD immediately seized the opportunity, laying kicks into York’s damaged ribs, then pulling York to her feet only to slam York torso first into the guard rail again. DD threw York into the ring to avoid a ten count, then locked in an abdominal stretch to take advantage of her sudden good fortune. The ref asked York if she wanted to give it up, but York furiously shook him off. DD forearm smashed York’s damaged ribs and wrenched the hold in harder, but York would not give up. Frustrated, DD threw York to the ground and turned her back on York - a mistake, as York immediately rolled her over into a schoolgirl for a solid two count. With both women on the ground, York caught DD with a sweeping kick to the head, stunning her. With DD on the ground, York bounced off the ropes and came in with a hellacious <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sf27uZ81HsY" rel="external nofollow">Energy Burst/Shining Wizard</a>. No one comes back from that, and DD didn’t as the ref counted to three. The ref helped York to her feet, raising her hand in victory and giving her the Femme Fatale belt. York held it up high for all to see, as the stream came to an end.</p><p> </p><p> <em>(In a decent match, Sara Marie York defeated Devil's Daughter in 18:19 by pinfall with an Energy Burst. It maybe wasn’t quite as good as Girl on Girl Action, but it was a worthy follow-up to that event. <p>Nah, I don't think it was on you. The chronology seems right - after a contract is signed, you have some time to do these farewell shows. I should have realized it was not necessarily their final show. And Devil's Daughter seemed like a far-fetched champion, but still maybe...</p><p> </p><p>

It will be very interesting to see how you handle this situation. Turn a heel face, or push the heck out of one of the existing babyfaces?</p>

<p>A Story Interlude - Viva Las Vegas</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>February 9, 2006</strong></p><p><strong>

The Strip</strong></p><p><strong>

Las Vegas, Nevada</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I had questioned Anne whether these hoodies were a bad idea to take to Vegas</em>, thought Cat, <em>and as usual Anne turned out to be right.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Opjjmbh.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kEkUwNO.jpg</span></p><p>

Anne Stardust and Cat Quine moved with the flow of foot traffic, people moving from casino to casino, hoping their luck would change if they just kept moving. <em>The thing of it all is</em>, mused Cat, <em>if the game is rigged no matter where you go, then moving somewhere else doesn’t matter. The surroundings may change, but the outcomes are the same.</em> Cat couldn’t be sure if it was the chill of the desert night that was leaving her feeling cold. The brilliant neon that enveloped everything up and down The Strip looked beautiful, but gave off little heat.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>*****</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Day Before</em></p><p> </p><p>

“Cathy, I’m taking a trip to Las Vegas,” declared Anne, apropos of nothing. The declaration broke Cat’s concentration, and when her newest pupil Lora Washington came running in on an Irish whip, the two of them wound up in a pile on the canvas.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/ehMRMdR.jpg</span></p><p>

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Lora exclaimed as they extricated themselves.</p><p> </p><p>

“No, no, that was my fault,” said Cat as she held a hand out so Lora could get back up on her feet. “Extra lesson there, I suppose. Everything we do in the ring, we do together, as a unit. Kayfabe, you’re opponents, sure, but in reality, you’re partners. If someone’s going over you, it’s your job to make them look like a million bucks. If you’re going over someone, it’s your responsibility to make sure they don’t look foolish, or weak. And the reason is this - if you’re a star, and you destroy everyone else and make them look like they’re not on your level...well, how much does that victory actually mean? Why should the audience care? Why should they come back to see whether you keep winning, if you establish everyone else is a complete scrub?” Cat waited for Lora to respond, but Lora simply nodded, soaking it all in. “But if you make your opponent look like they have talent and skill, then your victory is meaningful, because you defeated a worthy opponent. And the audience, if they cheer for you, will come back because they want to see if you can keep winning. If they boo you, they’ll come back to see if next time you get what you deserve.”</p><p> </p><p>

“That...makes a lot of sense,” said Lora.</p><p> </p><p>

“Well, I’m glad I wasn’t talking nonsense at you,” Cat said with a smile. She clapped her hands. “All right, I think that’s enough in-ring work today. I’d say do some free weights now that you’ve got your heart rate up, then call it a day.” Cat climbed out of the ring and then up the stairs to Anne’s office. Anne had the giant sliding picture window open so she could hear everything. Anne slid the window closed as Cat came into her office.</p><p> </p><p>

“Fine speech,” she said, with a bemused grin.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Here comes the passive-aggression</em>, thought Cat. “I mean, it wasn’t Christian Faith or anything, but I thought it was decent.”</p><p> </p><p>

“It was perfect, Cathy. If you want to make sure the rookies get excited about jobbing out to you.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat felt a familiar rush of blood warm her cheeks as her anger rose. How many times in the past decade had she felt that same rush of blood? “I don’t teach that to our trainees for my own benefit, Anne. If those aren’t the values you think our graduates should have - ”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne laughed. “Oh, Cathy. If I thought that, I would have stopped you a long time ago. It’s good that you teach them that. Makes sure we don’t have a bunch of 20 year olds who think they know everything and should have the belt put on them after a show or two. Means they don’t complain for a much longer time if we job them out again and again. Payroll stays down because they believe in ‘paying their dues’ as ‘enhancement talent’ instead of demanding more money. Keeps our big stars - like you are - happy because they look strong. And to top it all off, the ones who do speak up are the ones who have the backbone to succeed in this business. The ones who get tired of losing and decide to reach out for that brass ring, that’s the competitive spirit we want. Of course, if they reach out and they haven’t learned how to fly, well, those we let fall and move on.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat shook her head. “I suppose you got yourself over without any help, huh?”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne’s face grew pinched and serious. “You better believe I did. When I was in my prime, there <em>weren’t</em> brass rings for women to reach out and grab. I mined the ore, I melted it down, I <strong>forged</strong> the damned brass ring for women in this industry when I opened this company!” Cat knew that there was no point in arguing with Anne when she got worked up. She decided to change the topic.</p><p> </p><p>

“So you’re going to Vegas, huh? I thought you hated Vegas.”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne settled down, somewhat. “I do hate Vegas. I generally hate most cities with over 10,000 people in them.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat arched an eyebrow. “So you’re going on vacation to someplace you hate.” <em>That sounds like the single most Anne Stardust-style vacation I could imagine</em>, Cat left unsaid.</p><p> </p><p>

“Cathy, I said I’m going to Las Vegas. I didn’t say I was taking a vacation. Also, I didn’t say that you’re coming too, but you’re coming too.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat furrowed her brow. “Wait, what? I’ve got a training session scheduled for tomorrow - “</p><p> </p><p>

“Cancel it.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Not until you tell me why in the blue hell we’re going to Las Vegas!” shouted Cat.</p><p> </p><p>

“Cathy, keep your voice down. We’re going to Vegas on a scouting mission. Have you heard of a new company down there called ‘Babes of Sin City’? Because if you haven’t, learn everything you can about it before we get on a 1 pm flight tomorrow. Make sure you bring a hooded sweatshirt with you, and only pack carry-on bags. I’m not paying extra luggage fees.”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>*****</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Next Evening</em></p><p> </p><p>

The Las Vegas Strip is a section of Las Vegas Boulevard, most of which actually exists outside of Las Vegas city boundaries. There’s some dispute where the Strip begins and ends, but there was no question that the Piper Casino, south of Interstate 215, was definitely not on the Strip. It was not rundown and threadbare; in fact, it was less than a decade old. It was a place for someone who wanted to go to Las Vegas without actually experiencing “Las Vegas” - clean and modern, but without heart. Jazz music when someone hits all the “right” notes but plays without soul.</p><p> </p><p>

The owners of the Piper Casino recognized they could not compete with the history of the old casinos on Fremont Street in Las Vegas; that era of cocktails at noon and smoking in every indoor space that wasn’t a church had long since passed. Nor could they compete with the gaudy glitz of the Strip, with their theme-park atmospheres and concert halls. They had the advantage of being cheaper, and they had a nice convention center. That was about it. So when former women’s wrestling icon Marilyn Stardust and current showgirl icon Honey Golightly came to them with an idea for an attraction that no other casino could boast, something to differentiate themselves, the Piper Casino bosses were all ears. They provided a small theater once a month, and so, Babes of Sin City was born.</p><p> </p><p>

Walking into the lobby of the Piper Casino, Anne pulled out two pair of wraparound sunglasses, and gave one to Cat. “Here, put these on.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Wearing sunglasses, at night, indoors?” Cat asked, incredulously. “Isn’t that a bit obvious? We might as well have worn purple hoodies with our logo on the back.”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne had already put on her sunglasses. “Of all the places in the world where you can wear sunglasses indoors, no one notices in Las Vegas. Look at the pictures on that International Poker Series banner over there.” Indeed, about half of the professional poker players on the banner were wearing sunglasses. “They wear ‘em to hide their tells. Which is why we’re wearing them. Now, put them on and let’s get this over with.” Cat had to acknowledge Anne had a point. She wouldn’t admit that out loud, of course, but nevertheless Cat put the sunglasses on. Luckily, the bright lights of the casino meant she could actually see where she was going.</p><p> </p><p>

And where she was going wasn’t hard to find. Outside the theater was a poster for the new promotion they had come to see, Babes of Sin City, with their homage/parody of the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/hoglXoI.jpg</span></p><p>

Of course, the poster had more than just a logo. It had breasts. Lots of breasts, as well as mini-skirts and short shorts. Vegas, despite all of the cleaning up after the corporations showed the mob what real muscle looks like, was still a town where sex was sold - literally, if you went a little further out past the city limits. One had to look hard to actually find the word “wrestling” on the poster. Anne found it before Cat did. “Christ. ‘The Most Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling’. If I didn’t know better, I'd believe this was a nudie bar, not a wrestling show. Come on, Cat, let’s get this over with. And if Marilyn looks like she’s made us, we walk out calmly but with our backs to her.”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>*****</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Later that Night</em></p><p> </p><p>

Waiting at McCarran airport - which has slot machines, just in case you somehow managed to miss them while you were in town - Anne and Cat hadn’t really spoken much about the show. Anne had booked a red-eye flight back to SeaTac, because it was cheaper, meant she didn’t have to pay for a hotel room, and got her back to her beloved AAA that much faster. Now that they got through security, having rushed to make their flight, they found their flight had been delayed an hour. With nothing else to do except sit and wait, Anne decided to debrief then and there. “So, you got to see a BSC event first hand, their second-ever show. Your evaluation?” Anne asked.</p><p> </p><p>

Cat took some time to choose her words. Finally, she said, “Well...it was a show.”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne snorted. “Perceptive and insightful commentary, Cathy.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat sighed. “The girls have no idea what they’re doing, and even though they’re not doing planchas or tope suicidas and sticking with basic stuff, someone’s going to get hurt. It’s like they’re little kids who don’t know wrestling is worked going out into the backyard, copying moves they’ve seen on TV, not knowing if you botch something as simple as a knee drop, you could manage to fracture someone’s skull. The women themselves seem to be in good shape, at least in terms of outward appearances. If, in fact, most of them were or are still strippers, that’s not actually surprising, though being in ring shape is a whole different ball game. Some of the girls seem to have some legitimate raw athleticism, my guess is they might have a few former gymnasts on roster.”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne nodded. “What about the product itself?”</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t know what they’re doing, but I don’t think it’s wrestling,” Cat said, looking for the words. “It’s almost like a parody of wrestling, like sketch comedy or something. Or maybe burlesque. Which makes a weird kind of sense because burlesque started as broad parodies of other entertainment, with sex to sell the shows, until the sex <em>was</em> the show. Yes, I think that’s it. They’re not actually wrestling, they’re performing a wrestling burlesque show.”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne’s face looked like she had sucked on a lemon. “What they’re doing is making a damned mockery of everything we’ve worked for in the past 10 years,” she spat. “When I started AAA, I knew a lot of you girls were young, and pretty, and you’d look good on posters. Good enough that people would check out the poster and hopefully come to our shows. I admit I was banking on you all being pretty to get people to come to the show. Bait them with the looks, then switch them to something even better by showing these pretty girls are actually fantastic wrestlers. And I never, never wanted to present you all as sex objects. Attractive? Sure. I sold you all as pretty. But never cheap.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I do remember a few ‘show us your tits’ catcalls when we first started,” Cat noted.</p><p> </p><p>

“Do you remember what happened to those people?” Anne asked. “We booted them, immediately, and visibly. Sure, we lost one fan when one fan was two percent of our entire audience and people said we couldn’t afford to lose anyone. That ejecting them and permanently banning them would make them bad mouth us and give us bad word of mouth. But that didn’t happen.” Anne smiled, a smile Cat had seen before. The smile whenever Anne had proved her doubters wrong. “Because the other 49 people at the show were thrilled to see we had the integrity to boot a boorish jackass who thought you all were whores. When we kicked someone like that out, we showed that as a company, we thought better of you - and that we thought better of them, the audience. Families could bring their kids, and the adults knew we would give them stories with substance and good in-ring work and not hide our failings with softcore porn.”</p><p> </p><p>

Anne got up to stretch. She continued, “You can catch people’s attention with T&A. But in the end, it’s insubstantial. It doesn’t mean anything. You can’t invest yourself in it. That’s how you build lifelong fans, by making them care about your product. By not making your talent look stupid. By showing you take this seriously, the audience can take it seriously, create that suspension of disbelief that makes this whole thing work.” Sitting back down, Anne said, “I give them a couple of years, at best. It’s novel, it’s new, but eventually people will realize strip clubs give them what BSC provides, without the pretense.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat remembered people predicted AAA to last about that long - or less - when it first started, too. “They’re not really competitors. What they’re doing is so radically different from what we’re doing, they’re not going to take our talent, and I don’t think our talent would want to work for them,” she said. “Still, I did see some flashes of possible talent. I don’t think we need to take a lot of scouting trips, but maybe if we offered a spot at the Cat’s Lair when we did spot someone with even a little potential - “</p><p> </p><p>

“Absolutely not.” Anne’s expression was murderous. “What we saw tonight was a joke. And that stink is going to hang over anyone involved in that promotion, and anyone - or any promotion - that associates with them. Cathy, under no circumstances are you to <strong>ever</strong> offer a training spot to anyone who’s ever done a BSC show. And it goes without saying you are not to <strong>ever</strong> hire someone from BSC to work an AAA show. And I mean in any capacity. I don’t want them in the ring, backstage, I don’t want them selling cotton candy at our shows. As long as I run this company, anyone who’s done even a single BSC event is blacklisted from AAA. Am I making myself clear, Cathy?”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat shrugged. Sure, there may have been some diamonds in the (very) rough in BSC, but AAA wasn’t hurting for performers. “Crystal clear, Anne. As long as you run AAA, no BSC girls.”</p>

<p>Ah, seeing the BSC logo still makes me happy.</p><p> </p><p>

This is really great, but with Cat now running things, I wonder if we might be seeing some of former BSC Originals coming in, or maybe one of the wrestlers that chose BSC over AAA.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, I have to admit I find myself rooting for Anne now. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>3/19/16 - Zoe Ammis Interview & Save the Last Dance Predictions!</p><p> </p><p> <em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">A kayfabe video interview with Zoe Ammis, available on the Angel Athletic Association website:</span></em></p><p> </p><p> <em>Cat Quine is seated on a chair in the practice ring at the Cat’s Lair. </em></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/kEkUwNO.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Cat Quine</strong>: Hello to all of our Angels! I’m Cat Quine, former AAA Femme Fatale Champion and currently one-half of the AAA announce team with my broadcast partner, Jim Lou Freebush. Today I’m talking to Zoe Ammis.</p><p> </p><p> <em>The camera takes a wider angle, showing Ammis seated across from Cat - though cheated for the camera so you can see both women’s faces at the same time in the medium shots.</em></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/RkMOrtI.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Zoe Ammis</strong>: And it’s an honor for you, I’m sure.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: As you can tell, Angels, humility is a strong suit for Zoe.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: Why should I be humble? I'm a two-time Top Contender's champion. I’m a former tag team champion, along with my tag partner, the Mistress of the DDT, Steph Blake.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: We note, “former”. But let’s talk about your partnership with Steph Blake.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: We’re the best.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Also noted. Just two days ago, Steph Blake ended the eleven-year AAA career of fan favorite Joanne Rodriguez.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: <em>blows a raspberry</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: I was going to ask for your thoughts on that, but maybe you’ve already said what you need to say.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: Joanne’s career was over the moment she was put into that match with Steph. J-Ro shouldn’t have even shown up for the match. Or as soon as the bell rung, she should have just stepped back out through the ropes and taken the count out. Because was there really any question as to how that match was going to end? I mean, I guess if you’re some kind of stupid idiot it may not have been clear.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Seemed like a pretty even match to me. Took Steph Blake 30 minutes before she got the pinfall. Doesn’t seem like it was obvious that Steph would win to me.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: Well, I did say there was one reason why you might think that, didn’t I?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Moving on. Steph will be challenging Sara Marie York for the AAA Femme Fatale championship at our next event, Save the Last Dance, in Medford, Oregon on Tuesday evening. What do you think the chances are that Steph will win her first AAA Femme Fatale championship?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: I say there’s a 141 and two-thirds percent chance that Steph wins at Save the Last Dance.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: ...you do realize that it is literally impossible for her, or anyone, to have greater than a 100 percent chance of winning anything, right?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: …</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: …</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: Shut up.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Moving on, again. We anonymously surveyed some of your fellow AAA competitors, asking them to describe Zoe Ammis in one phrase.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: Let me guess…”Utterly dominant in the ring.” “Captivating on the mic”. “Super good looking”. “An inspiration to us all”. Am I close?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Well, let’s see…</p><p> </p><p> <em>Cat puts on reading glasses as she reads off the comments.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: “Obnoxious”. “Full of herself”. “Cheat to win”. “Abrasive”. “A real jacka -”</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: Well, obviously, they’re jealous of me! Jealous of my talent.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Here’s an interesting one. “Lackey”. Here’s another intriguing one. Someone calls you “The junior partner”. And here’s one that calls you “Steph’s flying monkey”.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: ...well. I mean, that’s, like...their opinion.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Really? That’s all you have to say about those descriptions?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: No! I mean, come on. It’s obvious what they’re trying to do.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: Do tell.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: They’re trying to drive a wedge between the two baddest women in AAA. And it’s not going to work! Blake and Ammis, both of us - we run this place - and Ms. Cat Jemson recognizes that. So those harpies can say whatever they want. I respect Steph, and she respects me, and we respect Cat Jemson, and the rest of them can kiss my behind.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: I suppose that’s as good a time as any to wrap this one up. Zoe Ammis, thank you for your time.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ZA</strong>: It was your pleasure.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>CQ</strong>: A reminder to all you Angels out there - tickets are still on sale for AAA Save the Last Dance, Tuesday, March 23, at the Seven Feathers Event Center in Medford, Oregon. We hope to see you there! Here’s the match card, if you’d like to make your predictions in the comments:</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>AAA presents Save the Last Dance</strong><p><strong> Seven Feathers Event Center</strong></p><p><strong> Medford, Oregon</strong></p><p><strong> March 23, 2016</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Pre-show</span></p><p> </p><p> Sarah Taylor vs. Suzanne Brazzle</p><p> Tracy Brendon vs. Joanna Silver</p><p> Simony Sentinel & Christy Higgins vs. Ariel Breaks & a mystery partner</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Main Card</span></p><p> </p><p> Steffi Chee vs. Talia Quinzel - AAA Top Contender’s Title Match</p><p> Devil’s Daughter vs. Jessica Bunny</p><p> Laura Flame vs. Jaime Quine</p><p> Steph Blake vs. Sara Marie York - AAA Femme Fatale Title Match - If York Loses, She Must Leave AAA</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Bonus Question 1:</strong> Who is Ariel Breaks’ mystery partner? Also, a place for new readers to (hopefully) hop aboard!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Perpetual Nirvana" data-cite="Perpetual Nirvana" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>That makes me feel guilty since in my USPW game not only have I stolen Sara Marie York and Joanne Rodriguez but I nicked Paige Croft and Talia Quinzel as well.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I guess that means I’m doing a good job at getting you to emotionally invest in this version of AAA, which is awesome <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> But seriously, if I was booking USPW, I would grab all four of them up without a moment’s hesitation. Those are four fantastic talents.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="sincerenoble" data-cite="sincerenoble" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Lol It is kinda crazy how 5 to 6 different women all have a version of the superkick as their finisher. The pool for women wrestlers in the C-Verse is already tiny as it is so I think thats a dope idea to change some of them around.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I know, right? I’m seeing match results and it’s like “So and so beat somone with a kick” over and over again. It’s refreshing to see Cherry Bomb using a double underhook powerbomb. Because Cherry Bomb is a hoss.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Dr_Avalanche" data-cite="Dr_Avalanche" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Nah, I don't think it was on you. The chronology seems right - after a contract is signed, you have some time to do these farewell shows. I should have realized it was not necessarily their final show. And Devil's Daughter seemed like a far-fetched champion, but still maybe...<p> </p><p> It will be very interesting to see how you handle this situation. Turn a heel face, or push the heck out of one of the existing babyfaces?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I feel like I’m doing something right if I can instill the idea that anything could happen in you when you read this. If every outcome is totally obvious, that’s like 1998-99 WCW, where no one bothered to watch because everyone knew the end of every important match was going to be a draw due to a nWo run-in/beatdown. On the other hand, things should make sense when they happen even if they weren’t expected; otherwise, you get Vince Russo era WCW. It sounds like I’m walking the middle path between those two extremes - I hope I continue to do successfully do so!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="MrWolf101" data-cite="MrWolf101" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42833" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Ah, seeing the BSC logo still makes me happy.<p> </p><p> This is really great, but with Cat now running things, I wonder if we might be seeing some of former BSC Originals coming in, or maybe one of the wrestlers that chose BSC over AAA.</p><p> </p><p> Also, I have to admit I find myself rooting for Anne now. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I love writing Anne. She's becoming a great example of someone who can be factually correct about things, but finds the most abrasive way of communicating those facts.</p>
