Good Survivor Series, and so my idea for what I could have seen happen tied into it being Survivor Series 97. So I thought we could have been in for a screwjob, and the only one I could think of was between Austin and Pillman; with Vince screwing Pillman, turning Austin heel. Why would someone do this? Well, with how "The Loose Cannon" has gotten so over and had some of the best matches in the company in the past year, I could see him becoming the face of the feud, actually the face of the company, much like Austin did in real life following Pillman's death. With that dynamic, we set up for Pillman vs. Austin with McMahon at WrestleMania. But I'm not displeased with how the actual result came out, and I'm all in for Scott Steiner as a heel "Big Poppa Pump" so at least someone got the screwing for the show. I'm also interested to see what made the M$C win their bout.

".....because Brian Pillman, make no mistake, that's exactly what you are.....just another lost soul, walking the green mile....you may think that your journey ends with the World Wrestling Federation Championship, but in reality, the only things waiting for you at the end of this story, are pain....and torment....." .....the Undertaker says that he's toiled through monsters and waded through mediocrity for too long now....he says that it's been six years (almost six years to the day to be precise) since he won his first WWF Championship, and in those six years between reigns, Vince McMahon has done everything he can to keep the Undertaker as far away from the Championship as possible.....he's sent every freak, boogeyman and oddity he could find, from giant's (Gonzales) to imposters (Underfaker) and everything in between...and one by one they have all found out exactly what Brian Pillman is going to find out at In Your House......and that is that when you step into the ring with the Deadman....you WILL...Rest...in...Peace..... <img alt="qV2yDWP.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/qV2yDWP.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="HAOQZrK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HAOQZrK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Sr1xavF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Sr1xavF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> .....rather predictably that brings out the brand new number one contender, along with Vince McMahon himself (and McMahons Problem Solver, Kane).....the trio don't head down to the ring, rather they remain on the main stage (as far away from the Deadman as possible) as McMahon rather insincerely congratulates the new WWF Champion on his win, before pointing out that it wasn't only the Undertaker who picked up a big win last night, before crowing about his "monumental" and "dominating" victory over Stone Cold Steve Austin, remarking (in what some dirt sheets would report was a swipe at WCW's Goldberg) that he now has the most impressive undefeated streak in all of wrestling...... .....Pillman takes the microphone next, also congratulating the Deadman....before offering his commiserations.....because he says that with his FIRST title reign lasting a mere six days, and with In Your House a mere month away, the Undertaker will be going down as the man with TWO of the shortest Championship reigns in history..... .....the Cannon is at his cackling best here, lamenting the "creatures of the night" in the crowd for buying into the myth of the Undertaker....he says that they stand there marvelling at the man in black, vindicating his misguided belief that he anything but another sideshow attraction......while Brian Pillman is the TRUE corporate face of the WWF.....and the true corporate face will be the true Corporate Champion, when he pry's the Title from the Undertakers cold, dead hands.... .....The Undertaker is unimpressed, telling Pillman that if he wants the Title, he's more than welcome to come and try and take it right now, but Brian isn't falling for that....he says that he's waited a decade to ascend to the top of the mountain, a few more weeks won't hurt.....but if it's a fight he wants, then it's a fight he shall have.....in the main event.....when he faces his brother.....Kane..... .....the Big Red Monsters head snaps around at that revelation....clearly he hadn't been consulted on the matter, and really, judging by his body language, he doesn't look overly happy about the prospect of facing his big brother again.....unfortunately for him, he doesn't really have a say in the matter, because Vince reminds him that he does whatever the boss tells him to......and the match is set for later tonight.....The Undertaker......vs. Kane. He says that not only did the Nation LOSE last night, but their leader once again ran away from a fight.....how can you call yourself dominant when you're obviously scared to face Nelson?.... "....scared?....SCARED?.....Dok Hendrix, you might want to shut your mouth before Faarooq shuts it for you......I ain't never been scared of anything a day in my life.....what last night was, was a tactical retreat.....I ain't scared of Nelson.....YOU know I'm not scared of Nelson, Nelson knows I'm not scared of Nelson, but more importantly, the Nation knows I'm not scared of Nelson....." .....Faarooq turns to look at his team mates, and in all honesty, they don't look convinced.....Faarooq asks him what they are looking at him like that for, and (after a brief, awkward silence) it's Kama that answers.....he says that it doesn't look good....he says that Faarooq can claim that he's not scared of Nelson, but every time Nelson appears, Faarooq disappears....sometimes it's not what you say....it's what you do..... .....now Faarooq is p!ssed.....he tells the Nation that he is disappointed in their lack of faith....he's lead by example for two years now....captured the Intercontinental Championship twice (and NEVER been pinned to lose the belt) and lead Scorpio to the Light Heavyweight title.....he shouldn't have to DO anything to prove that he's the man around here....but if it's proof they want then it's proof they'll have......he is officially challenging Nelson to a match.....at In Your House...... Rating: B+ </div></blockquote> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div> <img alt="veY8OIO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/veY8OIO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="vQXHiy2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vQXHiy2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> So it's brother vs. brother.....The Undertaker vs. Kane.....and when it comes to singles meetings between these two, this is somewhat of a rubber match.......they met at Survivor Series 96 (with the Deadman winning).....they met at Wrestlemania XIII (with the Big Red Monster winning)......and so with one win a piece, it's all to fight for tonight...... .....this was actually an exceptional match.....Taker had a great match last night against a limited opponent, and while his opponent tonight is equally as limited, he's limited for different reasons.....because while Ahmed Johnson is limited by ability, Kane is limited by his character.....after all, there is only so much you can do with a Michael Myers type monster.....fortunately the Deadman can bring you close to a five star match by his mere presence alone, and he HAS evolved from the Michael Myers type monster that he USED to portray.....so limited opponent or not, The Undertaker is out here to perform..... .....Kane really doesn't look as though his heart is in this.....oh he's fighting don't get me wrong, but with nowhere near the vigour that he fought with in these two brothers previous meetings.... .....equally, The Undertaker doesn't look to be particularly thrilled to be facing Kane again (even giving his brother the opportunity to walk away).....but with neither man wanting to be the one to back down, that sibling rivalry rears its ugly head, and these two go to war once more...... .....Brian Pillman may have been looking for Kane to destroy the Deadman here ahead of their upcoming In Hour House clash, but he doesn't really get it......if anything this is somewhat of a stalemate.....which is probably why (as both men have their respective hand around the others throat) Brian Pillman, Ric Flair and Arn Anderson come rushing out from the back, into the ring.....and dive on the WWF Champion.....putting a premature end to this contest..... We are just six days away from the newest event on the WCW calendar, and six days away from finding out exactly who will be heading into Starrcade as the number one contender to the biggest prize in professional wrestling, when thirty men walk into the WCW Mayhem Match.....and one man walks out with the biggest opportunity of the year.....

.....but that's in six days time.....tonight, it's all about Nitro, and it wouldn't be WCW Monday Nitro unless the Titans of Wrestling open the show.....

.....the whole group make their way out, and they clearly have a few things to get off their mind, first and foremost being the participant's in the Mayhem match.....Russo says that he and Hogan have been vetting the applicants (and there have been a LOT of applicants) and while most of those names have been scrubs that don't deserve to share a building with Hollywood Hogan at Starrcade, let alone share a ring with him, there have been one or two worthy names......

.....Russo says it doesn't really matter HOW worthy those names are though.....because they won't win.....it's going to be an all Titan Starrcade...why?...because Russo is going to announce the first guaranteed names in that Starrcade match.......Buff Bagwell....Adam Copeland....Christian Cage....Ray Traylor....The Macho Man Randy Savage..........and The Warrior......

......Russo says that the Titans are going to be in there to make sure that nobody wins that shouldn't....and then at Starrcade, whoever gets the privilege of main eventing with Hollywood (and unlike JPL) they WILL do the right thing, right there in the middle of the squared circle......

......Macho grabs the microphone, saying that we all know who WON'T be in that Mayhem match.....that the Heartbreak Joke himself, Shawn Michaels.....Macho says that Shawn Michaels obviously knows that WCW is where the big boys play......

".....it's where the Titan's play, yeah......and he don't want none of that.....Shawn Michaels, you can hide behind your little managers licence brother, but you can't hide from the Macho Man forever.....you're gonna be there at Mayhem.....you're gonna be there with Levesque.....well the Macho Man is going to be at Mayhem too.....he's gonna be right there with Buff Bagwell, Dig It.....and you ain't a fan anymore, you're just a punk with a piece of paper, and the Macho Man is going to get just a little taste of you...Oh Yeah....."

.....sounds like Jean Paul Levesque isn't going to be the only one with a man in his corner this Sunday night....Buff Bagwell is going to have a "Macho Manager" of his own, and things could get very heated out there at ringside......

.....Hogan takes over there, saying that Macho Man won't be the only one putting a punk in his place at Mayhem brother.....because the Champ is going to be slapping Diamond Dallas Page back down to where he belongs, firmly under the boot of Hollywood and back down into the midcard where he belongs.....

".....because Page, you've had your fun.....you've had your fifteen minutes of fame courtesy of Hollywood Hogan brother, and yes, one day you will be able to tell your grandkids that you shared a ring with greatest man to ever lace up a pair of boots.....but get a good look at these boots jack, because you're going to be down on your hands and knees kissing them at Mayhem brother....."

.....Russo wraps things up, saying that he wants to make something VERY clear.....because after last week, all he's heard from these moronic fans everywhere he goes....is why won't he let Sting Wrestle Hollywood Hogan?.....

".....and bro, let me make this crystal clear, so that even you morons in the crowd can understand......I'm not stopping Sting from wrestling ANYBODY......if Sting wants to walk down that aisle right now.....or drop down from the fricking ceiling....he can have a match right here tonight against Buff......against any one of the Totally Awesome Trinity.....he can have his ass kicked by The Macho Man or be embarrassed by the Warrior....again......he can even have a match with the man himself......he can fight Hollywood Hogan right here tonight.......

.....he just ain't fighting him for the WCW Title bro......"

.....Russo says that what these people have got to understand, that the one screwing them out of seeing Sting vs. Hogan....is Sting.....

.....the only one screwing them out of seeing Sting wrestle.....is Sting.....

.....the only one taking their hard earned money, without doing a damn thing to earn it.....is (you guessed it) Sting.....

......Vinnie Ru repeats his statement from last week, saying that Sting is a CONTRACTED wrestler for WCW, and he is not wrestling by his own choice......which frankly suits Russo fine.....sure he COULD fire Sting right now for breach of contract, but then Sting would be free to go off an make money for someone else.....so all the time Sting stays up in his rafters out of the way he can keep his job, but the next time he drops down to this ring and interferes in Titan business.....the next time Sting enters this ring and it's not for a contracted match.....then yes, Sting will be fired....and if he's not happy with that, he is welcome to kiss Vince Russo's New York ass.

Our first match of the evening sees two of perhaps the most underrated workers here in WCW....sure the hardcore fan knows just how good both men are, but I don't think the casual viewer realises the ability that both Curt Hennig and Steven Regal have in this ring....they're about to find out though, as these two men meet for (possibly) the first time ever.....and they have an absolute barnburner out of nowhere, helped by some pretty good chemistry out there.....

....Regal's snobbishness makes him a natural heel here in the good old US of A.....in an ideal world, Curt Hennig would perhaps be portrayed as a dastardly bad guy too, but when he initially arrived in WCW it was credible babyface's that we were lacking, so a fan favourite he is.....for now....

.....the two men do have a great match, so good in fact, that Eddie Guerrero decided that he wanted to watch the action unfold up-close and personal, because midway through the match he came walking out from the back.....

.....with a ladder in his hand?.....

.....Guerrero steps up the set of Home Depot's finest on the outside, before scaling the rungs and taking a seat at the very top of the ladder....a real birds eye view right there.......

.....inevitably the action spills to the outside, and as Hennig and Regal brawl right there below the United States Champion, while Guerrero hurls insults down at his Mayhem opponent....

.....clearly sick of listening to the taunts, Hennig tosses Regal back inside the ring, turns.....and tips the ladder right over sending Guerrero crashing to the concrete floor....

.....Hennig stands over the downed Champion, doing a little trash talking of his own, and as the official attempts to get Curt back inside the ring, both he and Hennig miss Earl Robert Eaton and The Duke, Douglas Williams running down the aisle....they also miss The Duke sliding what looks suspiciously like brass knuckles into the ring, and into the waiting hand of His Lordship.....

.....Regal slips the knuckles on.....Hennig re-enters the ring......and one punch later, Lord Steven Regal picks up an big win.

The Earl and The Duke help His Lordship to the back, and while Hennig is still practically unconscious on the mat, Eddie Guerrero has recovered from that trip to the concrete, and he slides into the ring along with that steel ladder....

.....Eddie props the ladder up in the corner of the ring and proceeds to continue his taunting from earlier, telling Hennig that at Mayhem, he's going to find out exactly who the "Papi of Perfection" is around here.....

.....Guerrero drags the groggy Hennig back to his feet by his hair, before Irish Whipping him hard into those leaning ladders in the corner.....Curt bounces off that steel and collapses to the mat again, and as the commentators discuss Hennig's previous back issues, Guerrero picks the ladders up and crashes them down across that very same back.....

.....Hennig is in pretty poor condition now....and Guerrero knows it....because after getting knocked silly by brass knuckles AND assaulted with a set of ladders, Curt can do little else but lay there on the mat, while Eddie Guerrero holds his US Title high in the air......and we go to a commercial break.

We come back from commercial, and we go TO the back, where Mean Gene is standing by with The Total Package Lex Luger.....

.....Gene says that lately, Lex is a man with a lot on his mind......he has his unresolved issues with the Giant.....he has his unresolved issues with the Titans of Wrestling.....he still has a desire to challenge for the WCW Championship.....and he MUST be wondering exactly what is going on with his longtime friend Sting.....

.....Luger agrees.....telling Gene that it's a busy time for the Total Package.....he says that undoubtably, he and The Giant have unfinished business....Lex said that he HAD hoped to salvage their friendship, but that bird has flown, and the next time he finds himself across the ring from the big man, he's not going to be walking away this time....

.....as far as the Titans of Wrestling and Hollywood Hogan go, yeah, Lex is looking to get his hands on the Titans.....he's looking to get his hands on Hollywood.....he's looking to get a shot at that WCW Championship......well in six days time time, he's going to go a long way towards accomplishing all three of those tasks.....because he's just spoken to Eric Bischoff.....and while Vince Russo has already announced the first official entrants into the Mayhem match (six members of the Titans of Wrestling group) entry number seven is right here, because the Total Package is in the match......

......he says that means that he is going to be getting his hands on the Titans of Wrestling.....and once he's racked and tossed twenty nine other men, he's going to be getting that shot at the WCW Championship at Starrcade......and while he HOPES that he finds himself facing his good friend Diamond Dallas Page at that event, if NOT, then he'll finally get his hands on Hollywood Hogan too......that's three for three......and as far as Sting is concerned.....

".....Stinger.....it's time to come down and put an end to all this.....we need you.....WCW needs you.....you might not be able to compete for the WCW Title, but you CAN compete.....you can fight.....you can take the fight to the Titans of Wrestling.....you can lock Hollywood Hogan in that Scorpion Death Lock and make him squeal like the gutless coward that he is......"

.....Lex tells Sting to just think about it, because he would be proud to fight alongside his friend once again......

.....and speaking of friends.....Lex doesn't have a match tonight, but he isn't going anywhere....he's going to stick right around until the bitter end.....because Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Benoit (along with JPL) will be facing the Totally Awesome Trinity tonight....and Lex Luger is going to be here to make sure that the rest of the Titans.....DON'T.....get involved.

From there we go back down to ringside, just in time for a p!ss break.....erm, I mean just in time for exciting tag team action....as the (surprising) #1 contenders for the WCW Tag Team Titles, The Pitbulls, face off against the Amazing French Canadians.....

.....how did the Pitbulls become #1 contenders I hear you ask? Well it was pretty simply actually, they just asked Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for a match, and the Tag Champions found the challenge so amusing they accepted on the spot.....

.....now Copeland and Cage might think they have the easiest defence in the world coming up at Mayhem after battling the likes of the Road Warriors and Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain as of late, but as the AFC found out here tonight, the Pitbulls are scrappy little b@stards......they're brawny, they're strong, and they know how to fight.....and they took the Canadians out after an impressive looking aided Superbomb from the second rope to Jacques.

Madusa joins her Mutts in the ring, and she has a microphone in hand....she says that her Pitbulls are just six days away from proving to the so called Totally Awesome Trinity, that they have bitten off a little bit more than they can chew.....she says that Copeland and Cage might not be taking this challenge seriously, but that suits them just fine, because we'll see how funny they find it after her Pitbulls Superbomb them BOTH through the mat, and walk out of Mayhem as the brand new WCW Tag Team Champions.....

".....because that boys....and I do mean 'boys'.....will be Totally Awesome....."

.....well would't you know it......it's the T.a.T.....not the greatest acronym in the world I'll grant you....so let's just call them what they really are, the Totally Awesome Trinity.....

.....Copeland and Cage lead the way, with the Enforcer bringing up the rear.....and the tag team champions are certainly channelling their inner Bobby Heenan, because as Traylor brings up the rear stone-faced (with a bag in hand), the Tag Champions are being jerked and pulled by an "invisible dog" leash each.....

.....they finally make it to ringside, where Copland orders his "dog" to sit, while Cage lets Traylor know that he just stood in a little something there (leaving the Enforcer checking his boot for invisible mess).....

.....Copeland grabs a microphone from ringside (almost dropping it when his "dog" starts pulling him) before telling the Pitbulls not to worry.....

".....I mean, we WERE going to come out here and Totally kick your asses.....we were going to beat you so bad, but then we figured that since we're going to do that in about six seconds at Mayhem, then why bother....."

.....Cage takes the microphone next, telling the Pitbulls that if they're done sniffing each other's butt's, they have something for them.....a gift.....

".....I mean ANOTHER gift.....because we totally already gave you a super awesome gift by letting you face us at Mayhem......"

......Traylor takes Cage's "dog" from him, before handing the Tag Champion the bag....Cage tells the Pitbull's that this is their Totally Awesome Doggy Bag.....it's got everything that a happy Pitbull could want......it's got, a tennis ball (which Cage tosses to Pitbull #1....not that he catches it, it just bounces off his chest).....it's got some doggy chocolate (which Copeland sniff's and grimaces at before tossing it at Pitbull #2)......and it's got "and you're gonna totally love this"....a Totally Awesome stick!.....

......Cage shakes the stick back and forth a little bit, telling the Pitbulls to get ready....."watch the stick....watch the stick......aaaaaaaand.......FETCH!".....before tossing the stick right over the shoulder of both men......

".....fetch.........FETCH.......FET...you know what, nevermind.....you Pitbulls totally suck....."

.....Copeland takes the microphone back as Cage looks dejected beside him, stroking his "dog" for comfort.....Copeland says that's fine....they're ungrateful, ok they get it.....but they're totally going to love this......or more importantly, Madusa is totally going to love it.....

".....because we're the Titans that keep on giving.....and we totally got......"

.....pulling a studded pink collar out of the bag.....

".....something for your b!tch....."

.....Copeland and Cage burst out laughing, before tossing the collar in Madusa's direction.....the Pitbulls look to make a move, but their manager (handler?) puts a hand across each man's chest.....

.....she tells C&C to laugh it up.....laugh it up because they can wait.....because they only have to wait six days.....six days.....and in six days time, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are going to find out exactly what "mayhem" feels like, when her Pitbulls maul those titles right out of their hands.....and speaking of Mayhem, we go to a promo for that very event, as the Titan's laugh their way all the way to the back.

Pay Per View hype out of the way and we head to the back, where Mean Gene is standing by with Jeff Hardy....

....Gene says that Jeff Hardy has been a busy young man as of late.....an ongoing issue between himself and James Vandenberg's group of misfits notwithstanding, he's also had the Forgotten to deal with too.....a lot of weight for his young shoulders to carry....

....a lot of weight indeed.....but it's weight he wants to talk about right now....Cruiserweight to be precise....because Jeff Hardy has received word from Eric Bischoff, that he is one of the men that will be competing in the brand new WCW Cruiserweight Championship tournament....he says he doesn't know who his first opponent will be yet, but he knows one thing.....1998 is going to be the year of Jeff Hardy....and he's going to go INTO it the same way he plans on spending it....as Champion.......

"....unfortunately Mr. Hardy, you'll be spending 1998 much the same way you spent 1997.....drowning in the cleansing waves of my purification....."

.....Gene suddenly looks a little uncomfortable, as Vandenberg, Mortis and Yoshihiro Tajiri walk into shot....

.....Hardy readies himself for the impending attack......but it doesn't come.....and Vandenberg tells him to relax.....

".....relax.....tonight is not the night......this eve is not your final.....in fact, you can consider this an official reprieve.....see Mr. Hardy, you're not the only one around here with Cruiserweight aspirations....."

.....Vandenberg says that the creation of a new division provides certain opportunities for his mission.....a division yet to be corrupted.....a division yet to be sullied.....a division that can be kept pure, with the crowning as Tajiri as its Champion.....

.....but Vandenberg says that nothing would be sweeter than wiping the slate clean with not only a Championship victory, but with a championship victory over Jeff Hardy.....he says that Hardy's safety is entirely dependent on his own success.....because for as long as Jeff Hardy is alive in this tournament Vandenberg gives his word that his men will not lay one finger on him.....not a single hair will they harm on his head.....until his path crosses with Tajiri......and THEN........THAT.........will be Jeff Hardy's end......with the beginning of the Cruiserweight Cleansing......

.....with that Vandenberg and his disciples walk off....because Yoshihiro Tajiri has a match coming up.......next......

WCW Cruiserweight Championship: First Round Match

This isn't the first time that these two men have clashed.....but it is the first time they have clashed with Championship implications on the line.....sure, this match isn't FOR a title, but a win does take the victor one step closer to the brand new WCW Cruiserweight Championship.....

.....if this match here was any indication, then this new Cruiserweight division is set to give us some pretty exciting action......because this was fast paced, high risk, and high octane.....and after proclaiming that they were going to cleanse the new division, Tajiri moved one step closer to doing exactly that, taking out Crazy with a Shining Wizard.

Mean Gene has already conducted a number of backstage interviews tonight, but he's out in front of the live crowd for this one, standing in the aisle as he introduces his next guest.....the 7'4", 450lb Giant.....

.....so what does the big man have on his mind?......gold apparently.....gold, his entrance into the WCW Mayhem match.......and last but not least......wrapping his hand around the throat of Lex Luger.....

.....Giant says the it doesn't matter WHO enters themselves into the match, because he'll be tossing people left and right, up and down, and way over the top rope....he's says that he's a certified, bonafide, god damn giant, and there ain't one man (or even twenty nine men) in WCW that will be able to eliminate him......

.......which brings out this man.....Vince Russo......

......Russo walks down to the ring (surprisingly alone) and tells the Giant that he's goddamn right.....he says that the big man has the potential to be an unstoppable juggernaut.....a giant amongst men.....a TITAN amongst men......

......Giant stops him right there....telling Russo that while he's more than qualified to be classed as a Titan of Wrestling (he is a former World Champion after all) it's that word "former" that's bothering him right now.....he says that he has every intention of becoming the WCW Champion again.....and if that means defeating Hollywood Hogan.....well, we've all seen what happens to Titans that challenge Hogan now haven't we......

.......Russo says that he understands the Giant's ambition.....he respects it even.....and if it comes to it, the Titans of Wrestling will cross that bridge down the line......but if Giant doesn't want to BECOME a Titan, maybe he can do something FOR the Titans.......something mutually beneficial to both parties......

.......Giant doesn't look too convinced, but he is intrigued, asking Russo what that would be exactly? Vince says that the Titans have a problem......that problem being Lex Luger......that problem being that the Titan's don't want him interfering with their business tonight.....and they don't want him interfering with their business at Mayhem.......so the proposition is simple.......take Luger out of the equation tonight......and at Mayhem, Giant can have that one on one match with the Total Package again......and THIS time, Russo can guarantee that Sting won't play a factor in the match......or he WILL be fired......

.....Russo agree's....telling Giant to squash Luger tonight.....destroy Luger at Mayhem......and the number thirty spot is his.....IF he gets the job done.......

.....which brings out Eric Bischoff.....who says that as the face of the WCW Championship Committee, he takes this Mayhem match very seriously.....after all, the winner will be challenging for the WCW Title at the biggest event of the year, Starrcade.....so no....Russo won't be just handing out number thirty spots.....

.....Bischoff says that while the Championship Committee wouldn't have a problem with an athlete the calibre of the Giant winning this match, it's not going to be handed to him on a silver platter......so how about this.....The Giant vs. Lex Luger.....one more time at Mayhem.....and the winner will be GUARANTEED an advantageous number.....let's say, any number between 25 and 30.......BUT....on the flip side......the LOSER of the match, well he's going to have his work cut out for him......because he's going to be getting a very disadvantageous number.....anywhere from number 1 to number 5........BUT.......should there be NO winner (much like with their Halloween Havoc encounter) then Lex Luger and The Giant will enter at numbers 1 and 2 respectively.....so good luck.

.....Storm isn't heading down to ringside however....instead he veers off to the right and takes up position at the commentary table ahead of our next match, because he has a vested interest in one of the competitors.....

....he spends a few minutes running down the man he will be facing at Mayhem for HIS Television Championship, before telling Bill Goldberg that Lance Storm is not "Next".....Lance Storm is LAST......the last man that Bill Goldberg will be facing as an undefeated rookie that is....because at Mayhem, he's going to wrap Goldberg up in the Canadian Maple Leaf....he's going to make Goldberg scream like a Girl Scout......and he IS going to defeat the undefeatable, regardless of what people think......why?......because he's from Calgary......Alberta, Canada......and that simply means that he's better than unbeatable......

".....and Bill Goldberg.....that means that it is YOU who is "Next"....."

What a peculiar match.....but that's the problem when you develop a decent winning streak, heel, face, rookie, veteran, EVERYBODY wants to be the one to claim that scalp for themselves.....which might explain why Jim Duggan asked for this match......I hate Jim Duggan.....which might explain why he ate a Spear and Jackhammer in quick concession......your winner.....the man that picked up wins 46 and 47 in our b-shows through the week.....Bill Goldberg.....

.....that's win number fourty eight in the bag, and with win number fourty nine potentially coming midweek ahead of our Mayhem event, Bill Goldberg may well be looking to break TWO new landmarks this Sunday night.....picking up win number 50.....and capturing his first taste of championship gold......

......of course, the current champion might have something to say on the matter there.....because as Goldberg celebrates yet another victory, Lance Storm quickly leaves the commentary table and runs down the aisle, sliding into the ring behind Goldberg and crashing that solid gold Television Title belt right into the back of the Challengers knee....

......Goldberg might appear unstoppable, but take his legs away and he can't Spear you.....he can't Jackhammer you from down on the mat.....and he certainly can't beat you from down on the mat.....and as Storm drives the Championship two, three, four more times into the knee, the commentators question whether Bill Goldberg will be even fit to compete at Mayhem, let alone in any condition to win......because while it seems that nothing can keep this rookie down (he's back on his feet and staring a hole through Storm as he retreats) the man is certainly hurt, because try as he might to disguise it, there's no hiding the fact that Mr. Goldberg is carrying a slight limp

Last week, The Rock cut a promo stating that he was going to be heading to WCW Mayhem to stake his place in the Starrcade 97 main event......he referenced names like The Warrior and Eddie Guerrero as potential "opponents he's never faced", and in that same vein Vince Russo has set this match up tonight....The Rock against an opponent he's never faced.....Konnan....

.....that being said, Konnan was never going to win, especially after he p!ssed me off a few weeks back.....this was your pretty standard match with The Rock getting all his shtick in, before finishing K-Dog off with the Rock Bottom.

Mean Gene makes his way out from the back as The Rock celebrates another victory here in WCW....he goes into shill mode trying to plug the WCW Hotline but The Rock cuts him off, telling him that "The Rock is a busy man Gene, so unless you hurry up and wrap this up, option one on the Hotline is going to be all about how The Rock stuck his boot straight up your candy ass".....

.....Gene says that with just six days until WCW Mayhem, picking up a big victory here tonight must have given the Rock quite the confidence boost ahead of the actual Mayhem Match? The Rock raises an eyebrow at this.....asking Gene if The Rock looks like someone that's lacked confidence a day in his life?.....The Rock says he was born confident.....in fact, The Rock was born so confident, that after he was delivered, he cut his own cord, slapped the nurse on the ass, slipped her ten bucks, and sent her down the street to get him a steak, because little baby Rock was hungry......

".....and The Rock is hungry now Gene.....he's hungry to prove to the world that he's exactly what he says he is.....he's hungry for gold.....and the Rock is going to Mayhem....the Rock is in the Mayhem Match.....but the Rock isn't going to Mayhem to slap no nurses ass, no, no, no, no....The Rock is going to Mayhem to lay the smack down ON twenty nine candy asses.....The Rock is going to Mayhem to win....to walk into Starrcade.....to prove that he IS the great one.....and the Rock WILL be walking out of Starrcade as the WCW Champion.......

So that about brings us to our main event.....and it's a main event that sees Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Benoit team up with their one time nemesis Jean Paul Levesque, to face off against the Titans Totally Awesome Trinity of Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, and The Enforcer Ray Traylor......

....there's plenty of action inside the ring for this one, but there's a fair bit on the outside too....because while Buff Bagwell has accompanied the Titan Trio out, JPL's new "manager" Shawn Michaels is there on the floor too, and he and Buff spend a good portion of the match jaw jacking about Bagwell's upcoming clash with JPL at Mayhem, and they almost come to blows on a number of occasions.....

.....inside the ring the action is pretty good.....Copeland and Cage have come on leaps and bounds since arriving here in WCW, and their surprisingly entertaining partnership with The Enforcer sees Ray Traylor main eventing Nitro in late 1997 (something I never saw happening).....

.....of course, this was never going to end cleanly....not with the Titans involved.....because with Levesque and Benoit busy on the outside with Copeland and Traylor, DDP drops Cage with a Diamond Cutter.....before the official can register the three count however, Bagwell dives into the ring and breaks up the pinfall, leaving the referee no choice but to call for the bell.......

Winner(s): Jean Paul Levesque, Dallas Page & Chris Benoit (via disqualification)

......but the fun doesn't stop there.....because Hollywood Hogan, the Warrior, and Randy Savage make their way down the aisle, and it looks as though Diamond Dallas Page is going to find out first hand exactly what's waiting for him on Sunday night.....

.....Benoit rolls into the ring as the Titans proceed to beat the snot out of Page, and the two men do rally back briefly....the odds are most definitely not in their favour however, and the pair soon find themselves overwhelmed.....

......on the outside, Shawn Michaels grabs Levesque by the arm and tries to lead him to the back, telling him that this is WCW's problem, not theirs.....Levesque shakes his arm free however, loudly telling Michaels that JPL IS part of WCW, before rushing towards the ring....

.....right along with Lex Luger a few seconds later.....as the Total Package comes running down the aisle......

.....that evens the odds slightly.....and when Levesque gets briefly double teamed by Buff Bagwell and Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels FINALLY decides to interject himself into the action (after all, he IS only here to help out Levesque) and he, JPL, Savage and Bagwell wind up brawling all the way to the back, just as the WCW contingent inside the ring begin to get the upper hand......

.....Levesque and Michaels might have taken two Titans out of the equation, and Benoit, Luger and Page might (briefly) have the upper hand, but it's still five Titans against three....and two of those five are Hollywood Hogan and The Warrior......

.......and things only go from bad to worse....when the 7'4" Giant makes his way out from the back......

.......the big man climbs over the top rope, and makes a beeline straight for Lex Luger, blindsiding the Total Package with a huge head butt to the back of the skull.....

......Luger goes down.....the Totally Awesome Trinity beat Chris Benoit into the mat.....and Diamond Dallas Page is left to the mercy of Hollywood Hogan and The Warrior....not that there is much mercy to be seen, because as The Warrior holds Page's hands behind his back, Hogan wraps his weightlifting belt around his fist and proceeds to hammer DDP right between the eyes with the thick leather strap......

.....which is when the cameras finally catch glimpse of Sting.....watching helplessly from high up in the rafters.....

.....Giant spots Sting watching from above, and points up at the man as he wraps his hand around the throat of Lex Luger, lifting the Total Package up, before Choke-slamming him hard into the mat.....

......Benoit and Page have been completely dismantled, and the Titans shove them to one side, clearing some space for the Giant to deliver a second Chokeslam to Luger.....and then burst out in laughter as the Total Package receives a third......the Titans of Wrestling (and The Giant) are destroying the WCW contingent here......

.......Giant stands tall, throwing insults at the eye in the sky, as Hollywood decides to take advantage of the fallen Luger, delivering a number of lashes from that weight lifting belt....not content with a simple whipping however, Hogan calls the rest of the Titans over and all five men begin kicking and stomping at the fallen Luger in unison.......

......and Sting has seen enough.....

......rappels down from the rafters and lands in the aisle-way.....

......pulling a baseball bat from under his coat as he walks towards the ring......

......the announcers go crazy....stating that Sting has been specifically banned from interfering in Titan business, and even had his job threatened.....but it seems like a vicious gang style beat down to his long time friend is too much for even the Stinger to sit back and watch.....

......Hogan sends the Trinity out to meet him, but Sting (and his baseball bat) neutralises each man in turn.....and as the Stinger climbs into the ring (swinging wildly as he goes), Hogan and The Warrior have seen enough, bailing to the outside and retreating up the aisle......

......bat or no bat, The Giant doesn't look as though he's planning on backing down, but as Benoit and Page regain their senses, and Luger gingerly pulls himself back to his feet, the seven footer decides that even HE doesn't like those odds.....and he climbs back over the top rope and drops to the outside, following the actions of the Titans of Wrestling by ALSO retreating up the aisle......

......Page is up.....Benoit is up.....Luger is (mostly) up.......and Sting is standing square in the middle of the ring.....arm raised.....baseball bat pointing towards Hollywood......

....as Vince Russo makes it out onto the main entrance stage.....and he has a microphone in hand......

.....Russo says that he knows that these Charleston fans are clearly not the most intelligent of people.....but even THEY heard Russo's ground rules earlier this evening.....

"......Sting.....you stupid son of a b!tch.....you had three choices.....get back in this ring and wrestle.....stay up in the rafters and watch.......or come swooping down from above, stick your nose in Titan business......and be released for breach of contract......

.....and guess which one you took......

.....ladies and gentlemen, take a good long look at your hero.....take a good long look at your enigma......and take a good long look at the career of Sting, disappearing down the crapper.....I can categorically guarantee.....that this will be the very last time that you see Sting inside a WCW ring......

.......because Sting.......

......YOU'RE FIREDDDDD!......"

Good Survivor Series, and so my idea for what I could have seen happen tied into it being Survivor Series 97. So I thought we could have been in for a screwjob, and the only one I could think of was between Austin and Pillman; with Vince screwing Pillman, turning Austin heel. Why would someone do this? Well, with how "The Loose Cannon" has gotten so over and had some of the best matches in the company in the past year, I could see him becoming the face of the feud, actually the face of the company, much like Austin did in real life following Pillman's death. With that dynamic, we set up for Pillman vs. Austin with McMahon at WrestleMania. But I'm not displeased with how the actual result came out, and I'm all in for Scott Steiner as a heel "Big Poppa Pump" so at least someone got the screwing for the show. I'm also interested to see what made the M$C win their bout.

Brian Pillman could easily be the face of the company right now, he really has stepped right into the space left by Shawn Michaels (with the added bonus that The Loose Cannon doesn't have a totally crappy personality) although in some ways he's perhaps a little bit more of an 80's Ric Flair at the moment, the dastardly heel who can have a good match with anyone, still win/lose in the most cowardly or ways, and is still over like rover.....that and I really wanted to try and stay away from the screw job aspect of SS 97 (especially after last years edition)

Really good Series. I feel ya when it comes to the grind of writing these shows, as it took me a bit of time too (and I only did one match in full!) Really enjoyed the segments leading up to the tag title match and the appearance of the Eliminators, even if it made Harlem Heat winning the gold feel a little flat IMO. Maybe we're heading towards a ECW vs WWF feud?

I don't see an ECW/WWF feud happening anytime soon....not unless it's a jobber feud anyway....outside of Terry Funk and Shane Douglas (both of whom would be midcarders at best in the WWF based on their overness) the rest of the roster are below even a Bob Holly in terms of overness.....although the Eliminators benefitted hugely from that appearance, going from E/E+ overness in all regions apart from their home region (sorry Americans, can't think off the top of my head where Philadelphia is) where they were D-, to D-/D across the board, and a D+ in Philly (mid Atlantic?)......although there is some news to discuss in regards to the little extreme company soon

Comments: Firstly, let's have a look at something Eric Bischoff said:

Doesn't sound like Sting is definitely out of the match - if he can find a contract to sign. Michaels, either, who does have a contract.

I figure Michaels makes it in, and comes close to winning, but putting him over in his first match doesn't seem right - just another WWF guy coming in and taking a prime spot. That leaves 29 potential winners.

I think we can rule out a Titan victory, because you've been there, done that with JPL. That takes out Copeland, Bagwell, Cage, Savage, Traylor and Warrior. We're left with 23.

No tag team wrestler is going to win this match, so out go Barbarian, Cain, Meng, Awesome, Animal and Hawk. 17 left.

Recent WWF transplants can be discounted for the same reasons as Michaels (and to please Kevin Sullivan) - Hardy, Rikishi and Rock won't win, we're down to 14.

But the Forgotten are jabronis, as much as I may feel Bigelow/Vader should rip through the TAT even if it's not 1992 anymore - Sullivan, Vader, Bigelow are out, we're down to 11.

Four of the ??? can be discounted; I don't think there's any name big enough outside of WCW and WWF who could come in and win this, so that's 7.

JPL had his shot recently. You might go back there, but I think it's a case of too soon for him - and you've said he's a pain to deal with backstage. World champion? I don't see it - 6 left.

That leaves Sting (one of the ???), Luger, Giant, Benoit, Konnan and Mortis. Konnan's a midcarder, and while Mortis is rising he's feuding with Jeff Hardy. I don't think either man is a potential winner right now. Down to 4.

Sting, as great a talent as he is, has been doing his own thing for a while now. Defending WCW, sure, but active and in the front line? Not quite so much. I can see him going close, but not winning it. 3 left.

Giant is a heel. Heel v heel in the main event of Starrcade? I don't think so. What I could see is a schmozz finish to set up a Hogan/Giant/face triple threat... but I don't even know if that's a possible finish in TEW, so I think a face wins this.

And that leaves Luger and Benoit, the two guys who've been in the Titans' faces more than anyone (bar DDP, who's getting his shot here). Luger's either coming in very early or very late in the match - I suspect late, which could make him the favourite, but...

...Benoit's got the underdog thing going on, where he's been run down and 'vanilla midgeted' by the Titans almost every time, and kept coming back with real fire and the kind of talent that would make old-school wrestling fans sigh dreamily. Overcoming that, and spending the weeks between Mayhem and Starrcade buzzsawing his way through the Titan B team, would elevate him to Hogan-will-job level, no question.

I started writing all this out thinking I was going to pick Luger, but as I narrowed it down I wondered just how bad Luger/Hogan could be as a PPV main event. Benoit/Hogan, with Hogan tapping clean in the middle of the ring to put the new face of WCW over huge? That would be a big, big moment.

(You're going to have DDP get screwed and show up as one of the ???, aren't you?)

Eddie Guerrero - Thing is, I can't see where the title goes from here if Curt wins it. However with Eddie keeping it, I have a feeling that The Rock is coming for him at Starrcade. So I'll go with Eddie here because things feel foreshadowed.

C&C - This has been a fun mini-feud, which can be turned into a major feud if the Pitbulls get cheated or blatantly disqualified to prove their point.

Goldberg - Lance picked the wrong fight.

The Giant - Big man toward the end is a staple for battle royals, Lex can fight from the start for a better story.

Rating: N/A </div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div> <img alt="ZBHF30U.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZBHF30U.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="LLFBXTU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LLFBXTU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Winner Enters #25-30.....Loser Enters #1-5 There was a time when Lex Luger and The Giant were firm friends, both standing tall, side by side on the frontline of the war against the Titans of Wrestling......then ego's got in the way......ego's that saw both Luger and The The Giant become so blinded by their need to meet (and defeat) Hollywood Hogan for the WCW Championship, that they actually began working AGAINST each other instead of WITH one another.....The Total Package quickly saw the error of his ways (especially after his and Giant's bickering cost Team WCW the win back at the Fall Brawl War Games match) and attempted to extend the olive branch to his former friend in an effort to mend fences.....unfortunately, the Giant had little interest in mending anything, he was more interested in breaking.....like attempting to break Luger in half by Chokeslamming him into a wall a few weeks back, and delivering three more brutal Chokeslam's just six days ago on Nitro..... .....it's safe to say that the Total Package is not in the best shape here tonight.....not only was he brutalised by the Giant to close this past Nitro, the Titans of Wrestling also gave him one hell of a beat down to boot, meaning Lex is walking into this match with his ribs heavily taped....talk about a target for the Giant to aim for..... ......the announcers talk about the importance of victory here....and a quick victory at that, because the loser of this in in for a hell of a long night, not only competing here, but having to come back out later and possibly compete for another hour (dependent on how unlucky they are with their draw) if they want any chance at winning the Mayhem match....and unfortunately for Luger, it looks as though the Giant knows that, because he zero's straight in on the injured ribs looking to grab a win as quickly as possible..... ......the Brain says that if Lex Luger had any sense, he'd quit right here and now, take his loss, go backstage and conserve his energy for later.... "....because believe me, that's one angry Giant.....and the way this one is going, he's going to lose anyway....problem is, if the Giant beats on him like this for much longer there might not be anything left of Lex Luger TO come out later...." ......Dusty Rhodes scoffs at that, calling Bobby a weasel.....he says that Lex Luger ain't never quit nothin' a day in his life, and he ain't gonna start now....."yeah, he's takin' a clubberin' right now Brain, but there ain't no quit in Lex Luger....." .....no quit indeed.....but he's getting a hell of a beating here.....The Giant has focused virtually all of his offence on the back and ribs of Luger, going so far as to stand all of his (considerable) weight onto the sternum of his opponent....but it's not enough to keep him down, and with Dusty Rhodes words still ringing in our ears, Luger slowly begins to rally back into this.....he's limited as to what he can actually do after being almost broken in half, but what he can do is kick.....what he can do is punch.....what he can do, is move out of the way of a charging Giant, leaving the big man to crash into the turnbuckles.....what he can do, is bodyslam the Giant..... .....well actually, he can't...... .....because his back can't take it.....and despite getting the man up a few inches off the mat, he eventually drops him back down (clutching at his back, which the Giant proceeds to hammer with clubbing blows)....Giant takes a moment to catch his breath, before dragging Luger back to his feet by his hair, and wrapping his hand around his throat.....but he doesn't go for the Chokeslam.....instead he wiggles a finger in Lex's face, telling him that he COULD end this right now, but where would the fun in that be.....before sending Luger across the ring with an Irish Whip..... ......which Luger ducks..... .....and on the return he nails The Giant right between the eyes with the running forearm..... .....it's been a few years since it was referenced, but as the big man staggers backwards the commentators make mention of the "metal plate" that Luger has courtesy of a 1992 motorcycle accident..... .....Lex sees him opening, and he runs the ropes again.....again connecting with the forearm....and again the Giant staggers backwards......one more sends him back another few steps.....and the fourth and final forearm shot causes the big man to fall backwards into the ropes, rebounding back towards Luger......who with incredible effort, lifts the near 500lbs Giant up.....and Bodyslams him right down onto the mat...... .....sheer exhaustion from the amount of energy it took to perform that move means that all Lex can do is drop to the mat and drape an arm across the chest of his opponent, but it's just enough for the one......the two......and the three....... <img alt="6PMfEkU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6PMfEkU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="De9q5V9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/De9q5V9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="JM0zCR1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/JM0zCR1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> .....or it would have been......had Adam Copeland not draped the Giant's foot over the bottom rope before the official struck the mat for the final time.....apparently the Totally Awesome Trinity have decided to make an appearance..... .....the official turns his attention to the WCW Tag Team Champions, as Luger wearily pulls himself to his feet.....which is why he misses The Enforcer climbing into the ring with a steel chair.....which he crashes across Luger's already battered back..... .....Luger collapses in a heap as The Giant pulls himself back to his feet, looking down (almost confused) at the Trinity, who make their way to the back again, telling Giant that he scratched their back.....let them scratch his..... .....not one to be too concerned with morals anymore, Giant drags his one time friend back to his feet..... ......wraps his hand around his throat..... .....lifts the Total Package High in the air..... .....and Chokeslams him right into the canvas..... .....there might be no quit in Lex Luger.....but after all the abuse he's taken in the last week or so, it doesn't look as though there is any fight left in him right now either.....because as the official's hand strikes the mat three times, The Total Package is completely done. Gene is a little confused by the statement, saying that it isn't propaganda....Bill Goldberg is undefeated.....Bill Goldberg has faced forty nine opponents in his short career, and he's defeated every one.....Storm is unimpressed however, stating that Bill Goldberg may have faced forty nine men, but he's never faced HIM, before asking Gene where the footage was of him taking Goldberg out this past Monday Night? Where is Lance Storms promo video? Gene doesn't miss a beat, telling Storm that if he can defeat Bill Goldberg tonight, he'll have more promo videos about him than he will know what to do with......but unless he has one hell of a game plan, that's a very big "if"...... ......Storm tells Gene that he's not usually one for giving away his strategy before a match, but for all the pomp and circumstance surrounding him, Bill Goldberg is still a wet behind the ears rookie, so he's going to make an exception.....Bill Goldberg has two moves.....a Spear.....and a Jackhammer.....and one one leg, he can't do either.....on Nitro he softened up the knee.....tonight, he's going to lock on the Canadian Maple Leaf and finish the job..... ".....and I can categorically tell everyone now, that I WILL be leaving here with my Television Title around my waist.....and Goldberg WILL be leaving here with his first loss.....and that's a guarantee.....because I'm from Calgary....Alberta, Canada....and unlike you American's, Canadians are men of their word....." Rating: B+ </div></blockquote> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div> <img alt="yWavpO1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yWavpO1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> <img alt="3uyI4Pv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3uyI4Pv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="MLBCNMR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MLBCNMR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> This match has been slowly built off the back of very little....in fact, save for some chance aisle-way encounters that lead to Lance Storm feeling rather disrespected by the undefeated rookie, they barely had any real bad blood at all.....then Lance Storm took it upon himself to assault Goldberg with the Television Title ahead of his match with Lord Steven Regal.......that p!ssed the rookie monster off enough to utter his first televised words, declaring that Lance Storm was "next"......something that would worry most people, but so confident in his own ability is Lance Storm that he actually took it up a notch, leaving the commentary table this past Monday Night to assault the knee of Goldberg, again using the Television Title as a weapon.....he put Goldberg down, but as forty nine other opponents have found out, putting Goldberg down and KEEPING Goldberg down are two entirely different things, and the rookie was back to his feet before Lance Storm had even made it to the back..... .....back to his feet..... .....but was that a slight limp?..... .....we're about to find out....... .....Goldberg makes his way out first.....he might be becoming somewhat of a phenomenon around here, but (unless there are some mitigating circumstances) the Champion should always come out last.....plus.....it presented us with an opportunity to further push the game plan of Lance Storm..... .....who came rushing out behind Goldberg as he made his walk down the aisle, clipping his knee from behind with a chop block, dropping him down to the floor, before dragging him over to the crowd rail by his ankle and driving his knee into the hard steel..... .....fitting really that the action in this one should start in the aisleway, especially (as the commentators point out) since this entire feud started because of a chance meeting in the aisle..... .....Storm makes his way down to the ring, and hands the Television Title over to the official, telling him to ring the bell, start the match.....and count Goldberg out..... .....the referee is reluctant to do that.....especially since the seemingly unstoppable Goldberg is back to his feet.....well, foot.....and (now clearly) limping his way towards the ring..... .....he rolls under the bottom rope and pulls himself to a standing position, and once the official has established that Goldberg still wishes to compete, only THEN does he ring the bell to signal the start of the match.....and where usually it's Goldberg rushing out of the starting blocks the second the bell rings, it's Lance Storm that goes on the attack here, using his speed advantage (and two working legs advantage) to rush his opponent, duck under a wild swing, and kick his leg out from under his leg (sorry Owen)..... ......Goldberg goes down again and Storm does what he does best, goes to work on the injured body part....and as commentators point out, it IS a good game plan.....after all, a lot of Goldberg's offence uses his impressive leg strength....if the man can't walk then he can't Spear you.....if the man can't stand then he can't Jackhammer you.....Lance Storm knows that, and he's doing some serious damage to those legs, kicking, stomping and wrenching on the knee.... ......Bill Goldberg might be fighting on one leg, but he is still fighting.....and as Lance Storm attempts an Irish Whip Goldberg reverses it (and from a stationary, standing position) Spears Storm straight out of his boots..... ......we all know what comes after that....Goldberg drags Storm back to his feet (and on one leg) lifts the Television Champion high in the air, before Jackhammering him right into the mat with the one, the two......and the three...... ".....well it didn't work.....and it won't work......bad ribs, bad back, it doesn't matter, I am entering Mayhem tonight and there's not a damn thing the Titans OR the Giant can do about it....." ......Lex says yeah, he's hurting right now, but when he throws twenty nine other men over that top rope and stamps his ticket to Starrcade, all that pain will go away.....he says he doesn't know where Sting is tonight, but wherever he is, he hopes he's watching, because The Total Package is going to make each and every one of the Titans of Wrestling pay tonight.....and at Starrcade, if Hollywood Hogan still somehow has that title, Lex has got a Torture Rack waiting with his name on it....... Rating: A* </div></blockquote> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div> <img style="max-width:10%; "src="<a href="https://i.imgur.com/JDoNj3Y.jpg" rel="external nofollow">https://i.imgur.com/JDoNj3Y.jpg"></a><img alt="bLRV4JV.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bLRV4JV.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="bXKnfuE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bXKnfuE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img style="max-width:10%; "src="<a href="https://i.imgur.com/X4ZcsNj.jpg" rel="external nofollow">https://i.imgur.com/X4ZcsNj.jpg"></a> .....and this one has all the combustible parts needed to erupt into an all out war.....and by combustible parts, I mean Randy Savage....the original loose cannon of professional wrestling.....The Macho Man has been loved, the Macho Man has been hated, but one thing the Macho Man has ALWAYS been, is unpredictable....and he's made it clear that he has a major problem with Shawn Michaels presence in World Championship Wrestling......and BOTH men are right there at ringside tonight..... .....to be fair, Savage isn't the only one that has a problem with Shawn Michaels being in World Championship Wrestling.....because Shawn Michaels himself doesn't appear to be overly enamoured to be featured on WCW programming....but what he IS here to do, is watch his only friends back, and Jean Paul Levesque may need all the help he can get, because as Lex Luger has found out first hand as of late, when you're on the Titans of Wrestlings radar, you're rarely in a one on one fight..... .....speaking of fights, this is a big one for Buff Bagwell.....Buff has been a part of WCW for near on six years now (a fact easily overlooked considering his relatively young age) and after toiling for years in the tag team division, Buff is finally developing into a singles player thanks to his new found alliance with the Titans......and while Levesque and Michaels (almost) made mention of the WWF's much hyped "new generation" earlier this evening, this "new generation" of Titan (with Buff being only 26.....while Copeland and Cage are both only 24) has their whole future ahead of them, and they're ready to start making their mark......and what better way for Buff to make HIS mark, than to defeat a former member of their ranks right here...... ......of course, that's going to be easier said than done...... ......did I expect a five star classic from these two men here? No......did I WANT a five star classic from these two men here? No, of course not, that's why it was smack bang in the middle of the card.....what I did want, was exactly what I got....a decent match that progressed a story..... ......Levesque started out strong here from the moment the bell rung, assaulting Buff with an all fast paced flurry of blows that send Bagwell scurrying to the outside to seek council from the Macho Man.....Levesque doesn't give his opponent long to gather advice from his Titan Team Mate, following Buff to the outside where he rolls back the years with a good old fashioned double noggin-knocker, slamming the two Titans heads together.....and as Savage's famous temper leads him to stalk Levesque around the floor looking for retribution, things almost fall apart completely.....because Shawn Michaels puts himself between Levesque and Savage, and Savage looks p!ssed...... ......the official finally calms the situation down (threatening to evict BOTH outside men from the match) and we get back to the action, where Bagwell (looking to take advantage of the fact that the referee is otherwise occupied), hits Levesque with a thumb to the eye as he takes control of the match..... ......now it's Bagwell on the offence (with a sprinkling of interference from Randy Savage...who despite Shawn Michaels presence, is still able to get the odd punch, slap and choke in) but obviously it was never going to last, and Levesque puts an end to that with a sudden high knee on a running the ropes sequence..... ......JPL fights his way back to regain the advantage, but Michaels and Savage are obviously there to do more than stand about at ringside.....and as Buff ducks a clothesline attempt (which sees Levesque nail the official) the Macho Man dives into the ring with a running ax handle to the back of Levesque's skull...... .......Macho looks like he's about to continue the attack, but Michaels isn't about to stand by and watch, and as Savage rears back a fist, Shawn rolls into the ring and grabs Macho by the hand, spinning him around until the two men are face to face..... ......the pair stare each other down, before they begin hurling insults at each other that quickly turn to threats.....Savage shoves Michaels.....Michaels shoves Savage back.....and in the blink of an eye the two men begin trading punches right there in the middle of the ring...... ......Buff and Levesque barely miss a beat, and with JPL now recovered from that ax handle blow, they too begin hammering each other with rights and lefts, as a four way brawl breaks out..... ......Macho briefly gets the better of Michaels in their fist fight, and drives him back into the corner, before whipping him into the opposite turnbuckles and following him in with a running corner clothesline......or rather an attempted corner clothesline, because Shawn sees it coming and backdrops Savage all the way over the top turnbuckle and down to the floor...... ......Levesque clocks Bagwell with a big right hand that spins him around 180 degrees......straight into the waiting foot of Shawn Michaels, who hits him right in the jaw with some Sweet Chin Music (that spins Buff right back around again, where Levesque is waiting to kick him in the gut and hook him into position for the Pedigree)..... ......Savage gets back to his feet on the floor, but Michaels puts him right back down with a springshot plancha to the outside, just as the official comes back around....and just in time to see Levesque drop Bagwell with the Pedigree and make the cover for the one, the two, and the three..... ".....because there's only one man in wrestling who's perfect.....and you're looking at him.....and by the end of the night Gene, Eddie Guerrero is going to know exactly who his "Papi" is......." for Curt Hennig's third bite at the United States Cherry.....not his third attempt at defeating Eddie Guerrero bear in mind, because he has won BOTH of these two's previous meetings......however with these being a deliberate disqualification and a deliberate count-out victory respectively, he walked out with the win....but not the Championship..... .....tonight however there are no short cuts for Mr. Guerrero.....no count-outs or disqualifications.....no pinfalls or submissions for that matter either....because if Eddie Guerrero wants to walk out of Mayhem with his Championship in tact, he's going to have to climb the ladder and retrieve that title to do so..... .....interestingly enough, this is only the second ladder match in WCW history.....the first if you want to get technical.....because the only other recorded ladder match in this company's history took place a decade earlier during the (then Jim Crockett Promotions) Great American Bash tour of 1987.....except it wasn't a Championship hanging above the ring, it was $100,000, as Dusty Rhodes defeated long time rival Tully Blanchard in a Barbed Wire Ladder Match..... ......there's no barbed wire in sight tonight....this is WCW not ECW.....but there are plenty of ladders scattered about, as Curt Hennig and Eddie Guerrero make their way out for this one..... ......the official retrieves the Championship from a reluctant Eddie and secures it in place above the ring, before signalling to the time keeper to ring the bell.....because thats really all he's here to do in this one.....signal for the start of the match, signal for the end of the match.....because everything is legal, and anything goes...... ......the two men are cautious to stray too far from what they know best in the opening portion of this match, opting to wrestle a straight match for the first five minutes or so without so much as attempting to go for a ladder.....that all changes after a high backdrop from Hennig however, which sees Guerrero soar over the top rope and down to the floor below.....Curt follows him out and lands a series of stiff punches, until Guerrero cuts him off with a knee to the midsection and attempts to drive his opponent into a nearby ladder.....Curt reverses the momentum however, and it's Eddie's head that strikes the steel first this evening..... ......Curt knows that after coming so close to walking out with the Championship on two occasions now, he can't squander a third chance, and he keeps the offence up on the floor, leaving Eddie dazed and confused as he receives blow after blow.....Guerrero is a crafty little b@stard though, and he drops to his knees, begging off, only to tackle his oncoming opponent and drive that delicate back into the ring apron..... ......Curt may have been the one to first use the ladder offensively tonight, but it's Eddie that uses it first for it's intended purpose, sliding it into the ring and setting it up underneath the Championship.....he doesn't get far though....in fact Hennig is back into the ring before he's even half way up and drags him off, before driving his head into the rungs...... ......Hennig nails Eddie with a picture perfect (obviously) dropkick, before picking up the ladder and crashing it across the back of his opponent, returning the favour from this past weeks Nitro.....the ladder gets propped up in the corner, and these two return to a more traditional wrestling match, with Hennig controlling most of the offence, finally nailing Eddie with a bodyslam, followed up by that Rolling Neck Snap to the seated Guerrero.....Eddie is scrambling away from his opponent but Hennig won't back down....until Eddie puts him down.....nailing him with a Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker off a rope running sequence.... ......Guerrero knows that if Curt Hennig has one less-than perfect aspect, it's that back that kept him out of action on and off since 1991, and he capitalises on that, dragging the man to his feet and whipping him hard into the corner where he collides hard with that ladder that's still propped up.....Curt staggers forward clutching at his back, but there's no breathing room, because Eddie instantly backdrops him, before grabbing him by the legs and hitting a Slingshot that sends Curt face first back into the steel rungs of the ladder..... ......Eddie sets the ladder up and goes to climb, but we have our first crash landing of the night, because as Guerrero's fingertips brush against the US Title, Hennig pulls himself to his feet and tips the ladder (and Guerrero) over, leaving Eddie to crash to the mat..... ......Curt collects the ladder and drives it into the midsection of his opponent before crashing it down across his back.....he waits for Eddie to (slowly) get back to his feet and then runs the length of the ring, crashing the end of the ladder into the skull of Guerrero, sending Eddie through the ropes and to the outside, before setting up the ladder and beginning his own climb..... ......it's a slow climb though....Curt is selling the back well, and Guerrero is able to get back into the ring, where he climbs up to meet his opponent, as the two men begin trading blows atop the ladder.....perhaps realising that he's not going to win a fist fight Eddie goes for the eyes, but Curt blocks it and slams the Champions head into the top of the ladder, before tossing Guerrero all the way down to the mat..... ......Guerrero lands hard, leaving Curt all alone with the US Title only inches away.....Curt reaches up, but he's spent, and his initial swipe sends the belt swinging out of his reach.....Hennig pauses to steady himself (waiting for the title to stop swinging) and reaches up more carefully his time, finally getting his hand on the leather strap...... ......just as Guerrero comes flying across the ring with a Springboard Dropkick that knocks the ladder out from under Hennig....and now it's Curt that crashes hard to the mat...... .....Eddie smells blood now.....Curt is down and still selling the back.....so Eddie folds up the ladder, spins it around into an inverted vertical position, and jams the end of it into Curt's lower back one, two, three times, before lifting it high in the air and crashing the full weight down onto Hennig..... ......Curt is down, face first on the mat, and Guerrero places the folded up ladder on top of him (running the length of his body) and then climbs to the top rope, telling the crowd that HE'S the only Papi of Perfection around here, before coming off with a huge Frogsplash, crashing down onto the ladder AND his opponent..... ......Hennig is seriously hurt now, and Eddie rolls him to the outside before setting up the ladder in the middle of the ring.....that Frogsplash did some damage to Eddie too though (driving your body into solid steel will do that funnily enough) and he's favouring the ribs as he slowly, very slowly, makes his climb.....so slowly in fact that Curt is able to drag himself back to his feet, and in a last ditch effort he tips the ladder up (with Eddie right at the top) and sends Guerrero flying....crotching him on the top rope before he finally crash lands on the arena floor, taking the officials legs out from under him as he lands......Guerrero is OUT.......and so is the referee..... .....Curt is in a world of pain, but he knows this is his opportunity.....he sets the ladder up one more time and begins to climb..... .....half way up and Guerrero hasn't moved...... .....three quarters of the way and the Champion is still flat on his back.... .....and he doesn't stir until Hennig has his hand on the leather strap of the belt....by which point it's too late.....because Curt unhooks the US Title and FINALLY holds it high in victory..... ......or he WOULD have held it high in victory had the referee been conscious to make it official....as it is, Curt is simply holding the Championship high in the air while the match Rating: B+ </div></blockquote> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div> <img alt="mmGHjAn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mmGHjAn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> <img alt="vB9dsDX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vB9dsDX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="wAFY3Cq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wAFY3Cq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img style="max-width:10%; "src="<a href="https://i.imgur.com/J2Rypjz.jpg" rel="external nofollow">https://i.imgur.com/J2Rypjz.jpg"></a> So this is finally the shot that Diamond Dallas Page has been waiting for.....for months now he's been front and centre in the war against the Titans of Wrestling, and for months now he's been mocked by the entire group as nothing more than an over the hill, never-was, who doesn't deserve to be sharing the ring with an icon such as Hollywood Hogan.....in fact, the Titans were so blasé about the threat that DDP posed, that the Warrior out right refused to even acknowledge the man......not until Page took matter into his own hands and FORCED him to acknowledge him.....when he laid him out with a Diamond Cutter to the concrete floor.....Warrior was victorious in their proceeding encounter, but only with the help of the Titans, as Page had him pinned slap bang in the middle of the ring after laying him out with ANOTHER Diamond Cutter...... ......Page more than proved himself in that encounter with the Warrior, victory or no victory......now he just has to do it again......this match was never going to be amazing.....for as over as Hollywood is (and he is.....the most over man in the business to be precise) he's well into his decline in terms of in ring ability....and he was no Ric Flair to begin with....so this match was mainly carried by emotion......the emotion of the underdog fighting with everything he's got to win everything he wants..... ......the two lock up and Hogan immediately displays his superior strength, sending Page flying back halfway across the ring off the collar and elbow.....they lock up again, and again Hogan sends him flying, this time flexing those big pythons at him and mockingly challenging Page to a good old fashioned test of strength.....Page however shows that while he may be only a few years in the ring, he has PLENTY of years in the business, and as Hogan holds the arms up ready to lock hands for the test of strength, Page pokes him in the eye, and then lights his chest up with a series of knife-edge chops (Woooooooo)...... .......Hogan nails to the outside looking for a breather, quickly realising (just as the Totally Awesome Trinity did a moment ago) that his opponent tonight isn't going to be the push over he was expecting....but Page isn't going to let up, and he follows the Champion out, nailing him with right hands before sending him into the guard rail and tossing him right back into the ring..... .......Page keeps up the offence, forcing Hogan back into the corner, and gives a clean break as the official attempts to separate them.....seeing an opportunity the Champion reverses the spot, with Hogan spinning Page into the corner, and then feigning a clean break, before trying a cheap shot that Page blocks, firing back with a series of right hands and an eventual backdrop after whipping Hogan hard into the opposite corner..... ........Hogan charges at his challenger, but Page is waiting with an arm drag, before cinching in an armbar in the middle of the ring......Hogan finally manages to work his way back to his feet and delivers a series of knee-lift's to Page's midsection that finally breaks the hold......whip into the ropes from the Champion, but he misses on a clothesline attempt and Page is inches away from dropping him with a Diamond Cutter before Hollywood shakes free..... .......clearly spooked by the close call Hogan bails again to the outside....this time however he's waiting for Page to follow, and nails him with a right hand before slamming his head off the steel steps and taking his fingernails down the back of the challenger and tossing him back into the ring.....and NOW the champion is finally in control..... .......now we move onto the heat part of the match, as Hollywood goes through his Schtick.....we all know how that goes right? There are chokes, eye rakes and punches galore, with the occasion body slam and clothesline thrown into the mix.....and we still have Mayhem to get to.....shall we just get to the closing moments of the match? know what they are, this is a blatant Royal Rumble rip-off......two men start, another enters every two minutes, with thirty entrants over all.....the only way to eliminate someone is to throw them over the top rope and down to the floor....and the man who outlasts twenty nine others, will punch his ticket to Wrestlem......erm, I mean Starrcade......so let's find out who drew numbers one and two it's young Jeff Hardy that draws the worst number of the bunch, number one (although honestly, number two is no better.....it should be number 1a and 1b) and with the prospect of wrestling for over an hour from this starting position, Jeff would perhaps have been hoping for a relatively easy number two..... .....he didn't get it though.....what he got was the Face of Fear.....Meng...... .....honestly it's a pretty lousy draw for the youngster, who is giving up size, strength AND experience against his opponent here.....that doesn't stop him from fighting like his life depends on it though, and he uses the one advantage he does have (speed) to keep as far away from Meng's grip as possible.....it looks to be working too (for the most part) and as the clock counts down from ten, a number three draw is positively awful.....because it's Meng's Faces of Fear partner.....The Barbarian..... ......Hardy DID have the momentum in this one before the arrival of Barb, with Meng only few moments away from being tipped out.....Barbarian soon puts a stop to that however, with a clubbing blow to the back of Hardy, dragging him off his partner and whipping him across the ring, before almost taking his head off with a Big Boot (brother!)...... ......Meng soon joins his partner, and the Faces of Fear go to work hammering the youngster with powerful blows, and almost eliminate him after a Meng clothesline that sends Hardy over the top.....fortunately Jeff was able to use him momentum to hang on and roll back under the bottom rope.....but this is a long two minutes....... <img Barbarian (2:00) ....fortunately help is on the way.....because here comes the Total Package.....he wasn't unlucky enough to draw number one (or two) but we knew he was coming soon thanks to his loss earlier in the night.....and he's coming hurt..... .....the ribs are heavily taped, and he's slower than usual getting down to the ring, but he's not shying away from this, bad back/ribs or not.....he climbs into the ring and goes straight for The Faces of Fear.....BOTH of them.....finally giving Hardy a moments reprieve.....but while he has some initial success, there are TWO very big men there, and Barbarian finally halts the offence with a knee to the ribs..... .....Barbarian hoists Luger up over his shoulder and carries him over to the ropes, looking to toss Luger all the way down to the floor.....Lex clings onto that top rope with all he has though, preventing Barb from getting him over the top, as the clock counts down.....another entrant is on his way...... <img alt="oiPJkV7.jpg" (2:00) .....and it's Konnan.....who's certainly not there to aid Lex Luger, completely bypassing Lex and the FoF to go straight for Jeff Hardy.....although if he thought he'd have an easier time with the youngster than with the former World Champion then he was sadly mistaken, because Hardy sees him coming and cuts him off with a kick to the midsection..... ......meanwhile Luger has finally got himself down from the Barbarians shoulder, but it hasn't done him much good....because now the two Faces of Fear are hammering him with right hands up against the ropes, before Barbarian backs up and comes charging at Lex, looking to use that Big Boot again, this time to send Luger flying over the top.....Lex moves out of the way at the last minute however, and Barbarian goes tumbling over the (by Lex Luger) ......Eric Bischoff claimed that there were wrestlers the world over that were worthy of challenging Hollywood Hogan for the WCW Championship.....look no further than this man, AJPW's Toshiaki Kawada.....now granted, the majority of casual fans outside of Japan will have no idea who this man is, but you only have to look at his resume.....in All Japan alone he's held the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, the All Asia Tag Team Championships...three times....the World Tag Team Championships....FIVE times.....won the World's Strongest Tag Determination League....twice.....and was crowned the winner of the annual Champion Carnival.....now take all that and consider the fact that a few years back in 1994, Kawada and long time rival Mitsuharu Misawa had the ONLY Wrestling Observer 6 star rated match in history, and that should tell you everything you need to know about Toshiaki Kawada.....the boy can wrestle..... ......leaving Luger and Meng to continue their own battle on one side of the ring, he heads over to where Konnan and Hardy are trying to tip each other out of the ring, and goes to work kicking both men's heads off, as we get about Jeff Hardy (10:00) Meng (10:00) Lex Luger (6:00) Konnan (4:00) Toshiaki Kawada (2:00) .......and it's another big man......Missy Hyatt's own Gideon Cain (who's been receiving tips all week from mentor Bobby Eaton.....Cain is actually developing quite well under Bobby's tutelage).....he hits the ring and joins Meng in punishing those ribs and that back of Lex Luger, clearly looking to pick up a huge scalp here..... ......Luger is still fighting, but every exertion causes him more pain.....he's only been in the match six minutes or so, but he already has one match under his belt tonight.....how much more can he take?..... ......over on the other side of the ring Kawada is still introducing Hardy and Konnan to his "educated" feet, kicking the bejesus out of them, before knocking poor Jeff (2:00) ......that other competitor being The Crippler, Chris Benoit..... .....the action opens up a little bit now.....clearly deciding that Jeff Hardy is perhaps the better option than Lex Luger, Gideon Cain goes over to overpower the youngster......Konnan decides it's time for a breather as he retreats to a corner....Luger continues to battle Meng.....while Benoit decides to test himself against Kawada...... .....remarkably Benoit and Kawada HAVE met before.....not in Japan mind you.....but in Stampede Wrestling over a decade ago, where a skinny Benoit wrestled a masked man by the name of Black Mephisto.....although the masked man wore red, so quite why he was the "black" Mephisto is anyone's guess.....plus Mephisto is already a demon....the demon that (in German legend) Faust sold his soul to to gain unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures.....how much "blacker" can you get than that?.....I'm rambling aren't I.....nevermind.....long story short, Benoit and Kawada have met before.....Kawada won...... ......with Cain off to punish Hardy (and he does, sending him highhhhh up in the air with a back body drop) that leaves Meng and Luger to carry on their scuffle.....and just a few minutes after eliminating the Barbarian, Luger eliminates his second Face of Fear member, finally tossing Meng over the top and down to the floor, before dropping to the mat and clutching another big boy in next....former WCW Champion (and member of The Forgotten) Bam Bam Bigelow.....and he makes an instant impact turning young Jeff Hardy inside out with a running clothesline, before dropping Benoit with a headbutt to the back of the skull and going face to face with Kawada.....if there's one thing these Forgotten members seem to hate, it's former WWF stars coming into WCW, looking to take their spots......so you can be damn sure that they don't want no AJPW stars coming over here either.....much like with Benoit, Kawada and Bigelow have met before......not quite as long ago as that Calgary meeting between Benoit and Black Mephisto, but still a good seven years ago, during Bigelow's stint with All Japan back in 1990...... ......meanwhile, Gideon Cain has Jeff Hardy teetering up in the corner, but Hardy has a death grip on the top rope, even wrapping his legs around....Konnan heads over to join him, trying to get underneath Hardy to force him over, but even the two men can't get Hardy to break his grip on the top rope......and eventually Chris Benoit makes his way over to break it up, stinging the chest of Gideon Cain with a stiff knife edge chop...... ......Luger is glad of a chance to catch his breath, but he doesn't get long.....because as Kawada goes for a big kick to the flaming skull of Ghost Rider....sorry, I mean Bam Bam Bigelow.....Bigelow Hawk......who cuts him off with a series of right hands as the two begin to brawl..... ......Cain is again attempting to power Jeff Hardy out over the top, but again Jeff has his legs wrapped around the top rope.....Hardy frees his hands long enough to wrap them around the neck of Cain, and uses his momentum to force the bigger man 3/4 of the way out before Cain manages to scramble back in under the bottom rope..... ......Konnan has Benoit teetering over the other side of the ring, but Luger makes his way over (bad ribs and all) and drags the Mexican Star off, holding him wide open as Benoit Wrestling makes his way out....one half of the WCW Tag Team Champions (and one third of the Totally Awesome Trinity) Adam Copeland...... ....he hits the ring and (perhaps unsurprisingly given the Titans involvement in his match earlier) goes straight for Luger, blindsiding him with a running knee to those bad ribs, before forcing him into the corner, where he delivers a number of shoulder barges to the midsection of the Total Package..... .....Benoit and Hardy have switched opponents, and as Bam Bam Bigelow and Road Warrior Hawk continue to hammer each other with blows, the Crippler hits an impressive looking back suplex on Gideon Cain, while Jeff Hardy catches Konnan with a Clothesline out of nowhere that sends the Mexican star sailing over the top and out to the floor...... number two is on the way, and it's Buff Bagwell.....he joins Copeland in beating down on the Total Package, and after a hard Irish Whip into the corner which sees Luger gasping for breath (and clutching his ribs) Bagwell hits a big bicep pose for this disapproving crowd......he really should have kept his eye on the game though.....because Chris Benoit spins Copeland around and unleashes a series of stiff chops to the co-holder of the Tag Team Titles...... .....that leaves Bagwell to turn around to see Copeland moving across the ring to get away from Benoit, while Luger stays slumped in the corner.....realising that Copeland is otherwise occupied, Buff charges at the Total Package.......who backdrops Bagwell right over the turnbuckles and out to the floor......I guess Buff wasn't the Stuff tonight, he barely lasted a minute and a half...... ......Hardy and Cain have resumed their own personal battle, while Hawk and Bigelow are still stiffing the hell out of each other and (after (8:00) Road Warrior Hawk (6:00) Adam Copeland (4:00) Eliminated: Buff Bagwell (1:54) (by Lex Luger) ......Gideon Cain will be pleased to see the arrival of his tag team partner, as "the best big man in the business" Mike Awesome makes his entrance....and makes an impact instantly, slingshotting into the ring over the top rope with a clothesline to Jeff Hardy, before joining his partner in double teaming the youngster..... .....Benoit has Copeland slumped up against the turnbuckles, lighting his chest up with knife edge chops, as Luger takes a breather and rests those bad ribs following Buff's (rather rapid) elimination, and while Bigelow and Hawk have both managed to get back into the ring, it doesn't look as though Bigelow is long for this match.....because Hawk has him up and is moments ......fortunately for him, the figurehead of the Forgotten makes his way out next.....and he picks a steel chair up on route..... ......Sullivan climbs into the ring and crashes the chair across the back of the Road Warrior....Hawk goes down, but Bigelow doesn't let him rest, and as he and Sully wrap Hawk up in the Tree of Woe in the corner, Bam Bam holds Hawk in place while Sullivan charges and drives his body weight into the defenceless Road Warrior...... .......Awesome and Cain are still working over Jeff Hardy, and they look like they're having fun....Cain picks the youngster up and holds his hands behind his back while Awesome paint brushes him with slaps, attempting to embarrass the young man.....Awesome finally backs up to the ropes and runs at Hardy with a clothesline.....Hardy manages to move out of the way however and Awesome strikes Cain instead..... ......Cain stumbles backwards and slumps against the ring ropes, and before Awesome can react to his mistake, Jeff kicks him in the back and then drops him with a Twist of Fate....and after being in here for close to 25 minutes, the number one entrant drops to the mat too in sheer exhaustion.....of course that still leaves Gideon Cain up against the ropes, and all of a sudden Lex Luger (bad ribs and all) explodes across the ring, sending Cain tipping right over that top rope with a clothesline, before dropping down to the mat beside Awesome and Hardy...... ......Benoit has Copeland in the free corner, hoisted up on his back attempting to power him up and right out of this match, while Bigelow and Sullivan Eliminated: Gideon Cane (15:04) (by Lex Luger) .....talk about good luck.....just as all looks lost for Road Warrior Hawk, here comes his partner..... .....Animal flys into the ring and takes everyone down on his way to help out Hawk.....Benoit and Copeland both eat a double clothesline, before Mike Awesome gets kicked right in the face....and with Luger and Hardy already down on the mat, the coast is clear for Animal to drag Bigelow and Sullivan off Hawk, and an all out war erupts between the Road Warriors and The Forgotten.... .....Hawk has been beaten up pretty badly between the steel chair shot and the Forgotten's double teaming, but he's soon back to his feet, and as Animal turns his attention to Sullivan, Hawk and Bigelow resume their own personal battle that's been raging for the last ten minutes or so..... .....the rest of the competitors slowly start to pull themselves back to their feet, just as Hawk and Bigelow simultaneously tip over the top rope again.....AGAIN landing on the apron....this time however both of their partners are there, and as the two men jockey for position on the apron, Animal and Sullivan attempt to eliminate their opposites from inside the SMELLLLLLLLLLLALALAOW........what The Rock....is.....cooking.........." .....and just like that, this Mayhem Match just got a whole lot more electrifying......because THE most electrifying man in sports entertainment is making his way down the aisle..... .....The Rock gets one hell of an ovation from this crowd as he hits the ring, and instantly starts hitting the competition.....and while most of these men have been in there for at least ten minutes (with Jeff Hardy pushing 30 minutes and Lex Luger not far behind) The Rock is as fresh as a daisy.....Copeland gets decked, Benoit gets levelled, Hardy gets laid out and Luger takes a punch to the face.....The Rock has been in WCW for around two months now, and he STILL has a long list of people that he's never faced.....that list is going to get shorter by the end of tonight...... .....two people he HAS faced however are Bam Bam Bigelow and Kevin Sullivan.....Bammers is currently still struggling on the ring apron with Hawk, while Sully is inside the ring with Animal as the pair attempt to help their respective partners......and since everyone else is down, The Rock walks up behind the tussling foursome, taking both Sully and Animal (who are both half hanging over the top rope) by surprise, as he hoists them both up and over.....Sullivan and Animal both crash to the floor, taking Bigelow and Hawk with them.....The Rock has been in this one less than a minute, and he's already eliminated four men...... ......the two Forgotten men and the Road Warriors barely even acknowledge the elimination however.....and they pick right back up where they left off a moment ago, as they brawl all over the arena floor, until Doug Dillinger and his crack team of security guards FINALLY manage to separate them and get them to the (Non-Japanese) wrestling fan would know who Toshiaki Kawada was, even the more casual WCW fan should have some semblance of an idea as to who this NJPW star is, after all, The Great Muta was one of the first Japanese wrestlers to achieve a fan base outside of his native Japan, and is certainly no stranger to the WCW rings, having competed here throughout the late 80's and early 90's, capturing the Television and the NWA title along the way..... ......if the Rock was looking to face opponents he had never met before, Muta is certainly on that list, because not only have these two never met, they likely never WOULD have met had The Rock remained in the World Wrestling Federation........they don't QUITE meet up here either...because while they DO circle each other, Mike Awesome pounces at Muta before they have time to lock horns....not that it does him much good....because even though he gets a few shots in, Muta finally blocks it......and they sprays that mist right in the face of the former Gladiator...... ......Benoit has resumed his fight with the Titans, and actually has Adam Copeland three quarters of the way over the top rope, leaning over himself in his effort to eliminate the Tag Team Champion...... <img alt="6PMfEkU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6PMfEkU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Entrant #18: Christian Cage Joining: Jeff Hardy (32:00) Lex Luger (28:00) Chris Benoit (20:00) Adam Copeland (14:00) Mike Awesome (10:00) The Rock (4:00) Great Muta (2:00) ......these Titans aren't ones to play by the rules however.....and as Benoit leans over the top rope in an effort to eliminate Copeland, Christian Cage comes running down the aisle.....he doesn't get in the ring though.....he comes to a halt on the floor in front of Benoit, reaching up and grabbing The Crippler by the hair, and giving him enough of a yank that the man can't hold on....and after twenty long minutes, Chris Benoit is eliminated..... ......Benoit is back to his feet quickly, questioning the validity of that elimination (considering the fact that Cage eliminated him from the outside of the ring before even entering the match)....unfortunately for Benoit it seems like the elimination stands.....and he's not happy..... .....he grabs hold of Cage and throws him back first into the safety rail, before hitting a series of knife edge chops, until Adam Copeland rolls out under the bottom rope (keeping himself legal in this match) and picks up a steel chair which he crashes across the back of Benoit..... .....Benoit drops the floor and Cage quickly picks up a second chair, as he and Copeland stand either side of the Crippler, weapons poised, waiting for him to stand..... .....back inside the ring, Lex Luger is taking a breather in the corner (nursing those ribs) while Mike Awesome and the Rock duke it out in an opposite corner....that just leaves a weary Jeff Hardy and relatively fresh Great Muta to circle each other, and judging by the reaction from the crowd, THEY want to see these two hook it up too...... .....meanwhile (on the outside) Chris Benoit pulls himself up to a kneeling position, but he would have perhaps been better served staying down.....because the moment he's in a suitable position, both men swing hard...... .......Con-Chair-To...... .....and Benoit goes down hard..... .....again, Doug Dillinger and his team rush out (to keep the Titans from doing any more harm) along with some medical personnel, who take Benoit to the back for treatment, as Copeland and Cage return Christian Cage) .....here comes a big boy....it's Rikishi Fatu, he's fresh as they come and he goes straight for Mike Awesome.....The Rock has gone over to help out Lex Luger (who was being double teamed by Copeland and Cage) while Hardy and Muta are attempting to outperform each other.....Hardy has been in there since the start, and (in what Tony Schiavone calls a "real career defining performance from this young man right here fans") he doesn't show any signs of slowing down....Hardy and Muta run the ropes, each trying (and failing) to connect with the other as both men use their agility to avoid the other.....Hardy finally catches hold of Muta and whips him into the corner, attempting to follow that up with a one man Poetry in Motion....Muta moves however and Hardy crashes into the turnbuckles.....Muta comes in with an attempted Hamspring Elbow....but Hardy moves and Muta hits the buckles......the two run the ropes again and this time take each other out with .....and The Macho Man makes his way out, and he heads straight for Luger too.....the Total Package has taken a lot of punishment here tonight, and even after competing once already this evening he's still out there over thirty minutes later....he's starting to fade though, and as Copeland and Cage attempt to keep The Rock busy, Randy attacks the ribs of Luger with a (funnily enough) Savage Rock breaks free of his Titan attackers, and showing that blood can still be thicker than water at times, drives a knee into the back of Awesome, saving his Samoan Brethren......of course, that leaves Copeland and Cage to join Savage in beating the holy hell out of Lex Luger, before the Macho Man tells the duo that it's time to end this and the trio pick Luger up......its time to toss the Total treatment following the brutal assault at the hands of the Titans of Wrestling earlier this evening..... ......Luger joins in the action.....and runs through Randy Savage with a clothesline (that further aggravates his already damaged ribs) as Levesque launches Adam Copeland up, over, and out of the match, before Irish Whipping Christian Cage straight towards Lex Luger, who tweaks those ribs a little bit more by backdropping Cage over the top and down to the floor, before collapsing to the mat utterly spent...... ......Levesque barely misses a beat, and goes straight after Savage, driving him back into the corner and delivering blow after blow to the skull of the man who didn't the most damage to Shawn Michaels..... .....meanwhile, the rest of the action continues as Hardy and Muta continue their war, while The Rock lays the smackdown on Mike Awesome (while Rikishi's fat ass takes a breather in the corner)......and the clock counts down again..... <img alt="LLNbsJB.jpg" exposure..... ......Masahiro Chono has been wrestling on and off in WCW since the early 90's, with his first major appearance coming at the June 1991's Clash of the Champions, when he teamed up with Hiroshi Hase to (unsuccessfully) challenge the Steiner Brothers for the IWGP Tag Team Titles.....Chono captured the NWA World Title in the tail end of 1992, returning to WCW to defend it at both the Halloween Havoc and Starrcade events of that same year..... ......Chono heads straight over to where Hardy and Muta are going at it, joining his fellow countryman in laying the shots into Jeff..... ......Levesque and Savage are in the process of trying to rip each other's heads off, and are so intent in causing damage to each other that they eventually tumble through the middle ropes and down to the outside, where they continue to lay into each other.....Heenan obviously missed that, questioning whether or not these two men were eliminated, but Schiavone assures him (and the viewing audience) that both Savage and Levesque are still legal..... ......with The Rock and Mike Awesome pre-occupied, Rikishi decides that he's going to have a pop at eliminating Lex Luger (proving that there are no friends in this Mayhem Match) while Jeff Hardy does his best to continue to fend off the threat from the Far East.....there are plenty of bodies still in this one, and we're about to get another...... as soon as he enters the ring......UN-predictably however, he drags Chono off his rival, before laying out Muta with a right hand.....Schiavone is shocked at this, but as Brain points out, James Vandenberg has promised that his men will not lay one hair on Jeff Hardy's head as long as he is still alive in the WCW Cruiserweight Title tournament.....Dusty says that if Jeff Hardy keeps this up (forty minutes plus and counting) wins the whole thing, and goes onto Starrcade to Challenge Hollywood Hogan, then the Cruiserweight Title may become an afterthought..... ......Hardy stares at Mortis for a moment, unsure as to what is happening here, before Mortis turns away and continues brawling with Chono, leaving Hardy to return to his war with Muta.....The Rock continues his fight with Awesome, who tries to catch Rocky in a Chokeslam....Rock slips out of that, lands behind Awesome....and drops him with a DDT, before positioning his fallen body for the People's Elbow.....Lex Luger attempts to backdrop the immense girth of Rikishi over the top rope, but Lex has been in here a long, long time too, and his bad back/ribs won't allow him to get the big man up...... ......Levesque and Savage are still on the outside....Macho is always the figure of intensity, but it's Levesque that has a look of Madness in his eyes after watching the life blood pouring from the head of his best friend earlier in the evening.....he drives Randy Savage's skull into the steel ringpost a number of times, before whipping him hard into the crowd rail as the clock begins to count down.......... Titan of Wrestling.....it's The Warrior....... .......Warrior is in no rush however (despite the fact that Randy Savage is getting brutalised as we speak) and in a far cry from his Pre-Titan days, he slowly walks down the aisle towards the ring.....so slowly in fact, that Levesque see's him coming.....and steps right over Savage to run up the aisle to meet Warrior head on.......and it IS on.......as these two go right at it in the aisleway..... .......the action inside the ring continues, but with so much going on on the outside, no one is really paying attention to it....after all, JPL is currently attempting to remove the facepaint of the Warrior by dragging his skull across the floor...... .......Savage groggily gets back to his feet and stumbles up the aisle to help out his team mate, but Levesque is still enraged.....so enraged that he barely feels the blow to the back by Macho, but he still turns around, driving a knee into the midsection of the multi-time World Champion, and beating him all the way back down to ringside...... ......Warrior finally follows, and he picks up a camera cable along the way, reaching up and wrapping it around the throat of Levesque.....and much like earlier this evening (when The Warrior held onto JPL, forcing him to watch his friend getting destroyed) he holds him here for the Macho Man to take some free Sid took him up on the offer...... (this is actually part of the reason for the M$C victory at the Survivor Series....and I say "part" because there is still a little bit more to that particular story.....Big Sid has not been a happy Psycho since the day Arn Anderson and Ric Flair put pen to paper on a WWF contract, and actually asked for his release about two weeks away from Survivor Series.......I figured that was this a real life setting, Sid would at least agree to work the Pay Per View if he was granted his release, so while his "in game" request was denied, I edited his contract to reflect his release.....and made him put Rich Steiner over on his way out of the door) .......the crowd pops huge for Sid (as they always do) and the Big Man walks down the aisle bumping fists with the fans, before he comes to a halt in front of the Warrior/Savage assault of JPL.....and Sid has no allegiance to anyone, he's just here to make an impression.....which is why he decks Savage......smacks the Warrior square in the facepaint......and just for the hell of it, plants Jean Paul Levesque too...... ......Sid steps over the top rope and into the fray.....and there are a LOT of bodies in there for him to make his mark on..... ......he makes an immediate impact when he comes face to face with Mike Awesome....the best big man in the business? Yeah, Sid Vicious might have something to say about that......Awesome goes straight for the near seven footer, and he does get some good blows in but eventually Sid catches him with a hand around the throat.....he doesn't go for the Chokeslam however....instead he forces Awesome backwards by the throat, all the way up to the ropes, before shoving Awesome with such force that Missy's Man is lifted right off his feet as he tumbles backwards 180 degrees over the top rope and down to the floor...... ......Rikishi makes his move, looking to eliminate the biggest man in the ring, but Sid shows his immense strength, powering Big 'Kishi straight up over the top and right down on the floor beside Awesome......and that MUST be about two minutes passed by now....... <img alt="chTy06E.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/chTy06E.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Entrant #26: Ultimo Dragon Joining: Jeff Hardy (48:00) Lex Luger (44:00) The Rock (20:00) Great Muta (18:00) Randy Savage (12:00) Jean Paul Levesque (10:00) Masahiro Chono (8:00) Mortis (6:00) The Warrior (4:00) Sid Vicious (2:00) Eliminated: Mike Awesome (25:28) (by Sid Vicious) Eliminated: Rikishi Fatu (13:44) (by Sid Vicious) ......and from one surprise entrant we go to another.....although this one doesn't have quite the same impact, as it's the (much) lesser known Ultimo Dragon.....and it's another Japanese athlete....with somewhat of a Mexican twist.....Dragon may have started his career in his native Japan, but he's actually spent longer wrestling for CMLL in Mexico than he ever did in NJPW (where he got his start) and even coined his ring name from the Spanish term for "last dragon" after (falsely) claiming to be the last student of Bruce Lee...... ......Dragon is another one night loan, this time from CMLL, where Ultimo is one half of the current CMLL Tag Team Champions (along with Hector Garza) and it would be one hell of a feather in his cap to walk Into the biggest event on the WCW Calendar......but perhaps going straight after the Rock isn't the best idea...... ......the same could be said for his countrymen.....because Masahiro Chono and The Great Muta are still very much in this as they battle it out with Mortis and Jeff Hardy....but how much more can Jeff Hardy have left in the tank after coming in at number one and lasting almost fifty minutes already? Enough to eliminate Chono apparently.....because as Chono sends Hardy into the corner, Jeff uses his momentum to hop, step and jump his way up to the top rope, before hurling his body back into the ring and catching Masa right between the eyes with his foot in a move dubbed the "Whisper in the Wind"......Chono has to use the ropes to get back to his feet, Hardy rushes him and hits him with a Clothesline that sends the NJPW star sailing to the outside..... .......The Mega Maniac pairing of Savage and The Warrior roll back into the ring, followed slowly by Jean Paul Levesque.....and the Levesque and Savage resume their bitter battle, while the Warrior (who obviously took exception to Sid placing his hands on him) marches straight over to WCW's newest signee....... <img number, it may well be Vader Time...... ......Vader marches right into the ring, and he's only got eyes for The Rock.....unfortunately for Ultimo Dragon, that means he's in the way, because it's Dragon who has The Great One's attention at the minute...... ......Vader shoves Mortis to one side as he heads over to where his nemesis is fighting, grabs Dragon by the scruff of the neck.....and tosses him straight over the top rope..... ......Rocky comes straight for Vader, but Vader is fresh (or as fresh as he can be given his size) and he takes every blow the Rock has, before driving him into the corner with stiff blows of his own, clubbing him in the corner, backing up.....and crushing The Rock against the turnbuckles with a Running Splash..... .......Vader turns around, arms raised, screaming out a loud "who's the man" at the crowd before staring at the two men in front of him, Jeff Hardy and Mortis, and Mortis doesn't waste a minute...... .......in sacrificing Jeff Hardy...... ......because he simply whips Hardy into the waiting arms of Vader, who presses the weary youngster high over head, before dumping him unceremoniously down to the floor.....and after close to an hour, Jeff Hardy has been eliminated, thanks in part.....to Mortis......who quickly fades into the background (out of Vader's way) as the Forgotten man turns his attention back to the Rock...... .......meanwhile, The Great Muta has turned his attention to the utterly spent Lex Luger.....Jean Paul Levesque has the throat of Randy Savage draped over the second rope (and is hoping to choke the life out of Macho as he forces all of his weight down onto the back of Savage).....and then there is Warrior and Sid, going nose to nose right in the middle of it all..... <img alt="SuMAfsS.jpg" fist into the face of Levesque to save the Macho Man from being garrotted by the ring rope...... .....Sid is laughing in the face of the Warrior, asking him "what you gonna do big boy?" before unleashing a big Sid right hand......a fist fight ensues..... ......Mortis (who's spent a good portion of the match trying to eliminate the Great Muta, has now joined forces with him, as the pair try to eliminate a valiant Lex Luger, who fifty minutes into this match has the same glazed over look in his eyes that Bob Backlund had towards the end of the 1993 Royal Rumble...... ......and then there's Rock.....and Vader.....and a whole lot of bad blood as Big Van Vader looks to shut the Rock up permanently.....easier said that done though.....and with the people cheering his name, the Rock begins to show Vader exactly why Kevin Sullivan and Bam Bam Bigelow have already tasted defeat at the hands of the Great One..... ......he finally moves out of the way of a charging Vader, who crashes into the turnbuckles....Rock lets loose with a series of punches before rearing back with his arm and delivering a right hand that leaves Vader propped up against the ropes and in prime position to eliminate...... ......Rocky punches.....punches.....and punches again.....before backing up and running at the opposite ropes to gain some momentum...... ......and that's when a steel chair gets Championship into the face of the downed Rock, telling him that it looks like the only one of them that's going to be in a title match at Starrcade "is the Papi of Perfection and United States stalks his way slowly down the aisle, sidestepping The Rock who is still on the arena floor, with Vader leaning over the top rope, reminding the groggy Rock that he's "the man".....he perhaps should have done less showboating however and concentrated on the match, because JPL manages to slip away from Savage and Traylor for a second, turns around into Vader.....and tips the big b@stard right over the top rope from behind..... ......one giant of a man exits, one GIANT enters.....as THE Giant steps over the top rope and into the ring, dropping Levesque with a headbutt......Savage is all over that, and instantly pounces on JPL, leaving Traylor free to help out the Warrior in his battle width Sid..... ......Muta and Mortis are still battling Luger....Giant isn't waiting however, and much as Vader did with Ultimo Dragon earlier tonight, he grabs BOTH men around the throats, and eliminates Muta and Mortis simultaneously......before standing over an utterly spent Lex Luger..... ......Sid nails Traylor with a Big Boot, that sends The Enforcer rolling to the floor, before turning his attention back to the Warrior, and once again the two men begin exchanging blows, eventually finding themselves up against the ropes...... ......that's when Traylor hops back up onto the apron, nightstick in hand, reaches over the head of Sid, and uses the weapon like a garrotte, pulling back with all his strength.....and being nearly seven feet tall, means that the big man doesn't have the best centre of gravity, so while Traylor pulls the top half of Sid's back by the neck, Warrior tips up the legs.....and like a seven foot seesaw, Sid topples all the way over the top and down to the floor.......he's outta there.....and we are ten seconds away from our final entrant...... ....ten.... Eric Bischoff?......surely not...... ....although as Bischoff makes his way out (and all the action within the ring grinds to a halt as everyone turns to stare at this sight) he doesn't actually make his way down the aisle, instead he comes to a halt underneath the Turnertron, pointing up to the big screen with that sh!t eating grin on his face..... .....the screen flickers to life and it shows a replay of Eric Bischoff's announcement from a few weeks back, stating that ANYONE would be permitted entry into the Mayhem Match, be they a WCW employee or otherwise.....all they have to do is sign a contract....win Mayhem.....and that Starrcade Title Shot is theirs....... ......the scene switches to a shot of Eric Bischoff in the back, with the words "Earlier Today" in the corner of the screen.....it's a shot of Eric Bischoff, but although he is the only person in shot, he's clearly not the only person in the room.....Bischoff tells the mystery man that all he has to do is sign on the dotted line......pick his number......and he will be in the Mayhem Match......and IF he wins Mayhem, this contract here will guarantee him a shot at the WCW Championship at Starrcade, no matter WHO the Champion is..... ......Eric hands the contract over to whoever is out of shot, and after watching with a big smile, he positively beams when the contract is handed back......with a signature at the bottom of it..... .....and suddenly the crowd erupts..... .....why?..... .....because there is a familiar looking face rappelling down from the rafters..... <img alt="NSpBoOI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NSpBoOI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Entrant #30: Sting Joining: Lex Luger (52:00) Randy Savage (20:00) Jean Paul Levesque (18:00) The Warrior (12:00) Ray Traylor (4:00) The Giant (2:00) ......and that familiar face is painted black and white...... ......it's Sting!..... ......Tony Schiavone practically wets himself live on air he's that excited.....and as Sting lands on the arena floor behind all the action, the people inside the ring have no idea just who that number thirty entrant is.......but they soon find out......because Sting climbs into the ring and lets out a loud "Owwwwwww".....a sound that Schiavone says we haven't heard for a long, long time from this mute warrior....... .......speaking of Warrior's, it's The Warrior who is the last man to turn around......as Traylor, The Giant, and Randy Savage all snap their heads around to see Sting stood there......Levesque could care less, he just wants Savage, and he tackles The Macho Man to the mat as they resume their bitter war, while Lex Luger just allows himself a weary smile...... .......Traylor acts first (he's The Enforcer of the Titans after all) and he charges at Sting only to be met by a barrage of punches and kicks......before Sting finally tosses him over the top rope..... Eliminated: Randy Savage (23:58) (by Sting) Eliminated: Jean Paul Levesque (21:58) (by Sting) <img alt="ZBHF30U.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZBHF30U.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LLFBXTU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LLFBXTU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="zJWRW9s.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zJWRW9s.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Fe0oJG1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Fe0oJG1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> The Final Four .......and as Doug Dillinger and his motley crew are once again called into action to separate Jean Paul Levesque and Randy Savage, we are down to the final four.....Lex Luger (who is rapidly closing in on one hour total match time) The Giant, The Warrior......and Sting..... .......Giant and Warrior form an uneasy alliance as the two sides face off, while an utterly spent Lex Luger stands by the side of his longtime friend with an exhausted smile on his face, clearly happy to see Sting back where he belongs (out of the rafters and back in the ring) before the action starts...... .......Giant most definitely wants a piece of Sting, but first he wants to finish his destruction of Lex Luger, defeating him in singles action AND eliminating him from the Mayhem Match....and there's a good chance that he will too....after all, he's been in this match for five minutes compared to Lugers fifty five....and as the two men clash, he batters Luger all the way back into the corner...... .......with all that action going on around them, Sting and Warrior haven't moved an inch.....both men are staring eye to eye in the middle of the ring, both blank faced, both missing the bright neon colours that they were once famous for, replaced by a world of black and white.....and while Sting's downward spiral began with the formation of the Titans of Wrestling, it was The Warrior's final betrayal that finally broke the man from Venice Beach and bought us to tonight.....and after a tense (and silent) stare down (after all, neither man does a great deal of talking anymore) the Warrior swings a big clubbing blow at is former tag team partner.....which Sting blocks......and absolutely unloads with months of pent up aggression, hammering the hapless Warrior back into the corner, before Irish Whipping him across the ring to the opposite corner, and letting fly with a big Stinger Splash....... ......meanwhile Lex Luger has found a deep reserve of energy, and he's striking back at the Giant rocking him with right hands, before going back to the move that should have won him the match earlier this evening, the Running Forearm......he hits the Giant with two that stagger him backwards......a third that leaves him propped up against the ropes......before charging with a fourth that SHOULD have sent the Giant tumbling to the floor.......but it didn't.....because after fifty seven minutes and thirty three seconds Lex Luger is simply too slow and too exhausted to stop himself from running right into the Giants huge hand, which wraps around his throat, lifts him up, and tosses him over the top rope and out to the floor........it was a Champions effort from Luger here tonight, but it's all over for him now......much as it is for The Warrior.......because as he staggers out of the corner following that Stinger Splash, he gets clotheslined over the top rope by Sting......and then there were two...... Eliminated: Lex Luger (57:33) (by The Giant) Eliminated: The Warrior (17:34) (by Sting) ......and they're the freshest two.....numbers 29 and 30.....The Giant and Sting...... ......Giant is quick to taunt the Stinger, telling him that he's beat his little buddy Lex Luger twice tonight, squashing Sting like the bug that he is won't take longer that thirty seconds......it's difficult to intimidate someone who's been lurking in the rafters for months though, and Sting just beats his chest and let's out another loud "Owwwwwww"....... .......Giant makes the first move, coming towards Sting, but the Stinger ducks a right hand and delivers a series of kicks that drives Giant back towards the corner.....Sting backs up and charges, letting loose with another Stinger Splash.......and a second......and a third...... .......he goes for a fourth, but that's one too many.....and Giant plucks him out of midair, wrapping his hand around his throat..... .......Giant spins Sting around and slams him into the corner (with his hand still around his throat) screaming in his face that he should have stayed in the rafters.....he should have stayed gone......and he should have stayed out of the Giants business.....before rocking Sting with powerful clubbing blows, before tossing the man halfway across the ring...... ........the seven footer walks over to where Sting lays and places one foot on his chest, stepping right on the man with all his weight, before throwing that hand up in the air.....it's Chokeslam time...... ........Giant drags Sting back to his feet and wraps his hand around his throat, hoisting him high up into the air..... .......somehow Sting is able to reverse the momentum however, landing behind his opponent.....and drops him with that Scorpion Death Drop inverted DDT....... .......Giant is slow to his feet (using the ropes in the corner for support) and Sting suddenly comes flying across the ring with another Stinger Splash that drives Giant chest first into the turnbuckles......Sting backs up.....beats his chest......and begins to try and lift the big tree trunk legs of the Giant up...... ........Giant has been knocked silly by that Stinger Splash, but that just means it's almost 500lbs of deadweight to get up over the top rope......but with the crowd cheering like mad (and Tony Schiavone having an orgasm live on air) Sting lifts......and lifts......and lifts some more.....and with one final massive shove, he sends the Giant tumbling right over the top and down to the floor....... Eliminated: The Giant (11:16) (by Sting) ......and Sting drops to the mat.....exhausted by the sheer exertion of getting the Giant up and over......exhausted.....but heading to Starrcade..... Doesn't sound like Sting is definitely out of the match - if he can find a contract to sign. </div></blockquote> First of all, I'll echo my earlier comments, that was some wonderful analysis on this match.....second of all, that's exactly why Mr. Bischoff said what he did, just to find some logical explanation to get Sting the Title shot he's not currently allowed under his current contract. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="James Casey" data-cite="James Casey" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43289" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I figure Michaels makes it in, and comes close to winning, but putting him over in his first match doesn't seem right - just another WWF guy coming in and taking a prime spot. Luger's either coming in very early or very late in the match - I suspect late, which could make him the favourite, but... ...Benoit's got the underdog thing going on, where he's been run down and 'vanilla midgeted' by the Titans almost every time, and kept coming back with real fire and the kind of talent that would make old-school wrestling fans sigh dreamily. Overcoming that, and spending the weeks between Mayhem and Starrcade buzzsawing his way through the Titan B team, would elevate him to Hogan-will-job level, no question. I started writing all this out thinking I was going to pick Luger, but as I narrowed it down I wondered just how bad Luger/Hogan could be as a PPV main event. Benoit/Hogan, with Hogan tapping clean in the middle of the ring to put the new face of WCW over huge? That would be a big, big moment.</div></blockquote> Sting was always the man I had down to win this from the start, but I've got to be honest, as I was writing the Mayhem Match out I really started rooting for Luger, to the point that I almost called an audible and changed the finish, but in the end I stuck with Sting.... ....as for Benoit (and in particular the part in bold) try as I might I think he's still a good six months away from World Title contender. I've been trying to elevate both him and Page since I took over (hence their exposure) but both men have only made it to the Upper Midcard so far.....the Upper Upper Midcard sure, but still not quite main event level, and I don't think that even a month of squashing B-Team would have him ready to main event Starrcade. A smaller event then sure, but Starrcade? And you hinted that something was weird with the MDC story in the WWF... and Sid was just left laying on Raw...</div></blockquote> Which is exactly why Sid was left laying.....he was doing the job on his way out....good pick. Some random show notes.....this was not a good night for chemistry. Hogan/Page, JPL/Buff and Goldberg/Storm all got dinged for bad chemistry. Kevin Sullivan must have landed awkwardly on that elimination, picking up a bicep strain (which won't keep him out of action) and Copeland and Cage worked their asses off to get a good match out of The Pitbulls (A* performance from Copeland, B+ from Cage) Copeland has the potential to be something special in the future, he rarely puts in a bad performance, A* is the norm for him. Speaking of A's.....the match of the night was the Guerrero/Hennig ladder match......something not fully reflected in the write up because I'd already written the show out before I got round to booking it and I couldn't be bothered to change anything.....incidentally that's two A rated matches in a row for Curt, ironically just as he was somewhat written off TV while I worked out what I wanted to do with him after some rather disappointing match grades.....A rated matches are pretty hard to come by in WCW, maybe he won't be off TV too long after all...... Finally.....what to do with a problem like ECW? The little company that could, is rapidly turning into the little company that can't right now, haemorrhaging money at an alarming rate to the point that I gave them a rather sizeable "loan" about 8 (in game) months ago, and they have worked their way through that, churning out a sizeable loss every month. I'm contemplating using some creative licence, taking over, and using them much as the WWF did, as a secretly funded feeder company. Somewhere I can send the likes of The Dudley Boys instead of sticking them in developmental (because it's not like WCW are going to snatch anyone up unless I choose so) and while I'm there, maybe turn the company around a bit, because they are dying a slow death......or I might just let them die, I haven't actually decided yet..... .....anyway, onto a fresh month.....and almost a fresh year.
