Stimulate company competition

Recommended Posts

Where in TEW you have to deal with other companies and try to outperform them through event-management, I never had the feeling that the same is needed in WMMA. The only interaction I have with rival companies is scouting them for talent in weight classes we both offer.

As a ground rule, I found that the company who puts the most matches on its card eventually outdoes the competition who hosts smaller and less frequent cards. Even can-filled cards are a road to success if they have with a stellar main event. More fights = more winners = more contenders. Quite simple. Not that I'm complaining as it's close to reality imo, but it makes for boring 'competition' with the AI.

Does anyone have tips on how to improve this by changing the rules or variables in the editor? The only thing I can come up with is making my own "house rules" in relation to the AI's booking to keep the fight numbers equal.

One thing I've wondered about is that when you're arranging a new show, the game informs you if any other major shows have been held in the region lately. Is there some kind of penalty if multiple shows are held in the same region in too short a time? This would obviously have an effect on companies based in the same area.

<p>It probably is, but these are minor penalties like having no announcers. You barely notice, especially given that you always made more than enough money unless you start from scratch. It's not worth the effort of rebooking or even assigning an announcer team.</p><p> </p><p>

As discussed before, there are pros and cons of adapting a TEW-style managing system. There has to be an option to turn it off as I assume the majority of the players will just want to book and see the fights. And all the rest is a waste of time in their book. People already get pissed off if they have to click twice to resign people and wouldn't mind if the whole thing was fully automated.</p>

Another option is to play as a small, mid-regional company with non-exclusive fighter contracts. Then, you have to share your roster with other companies in the area instead of just scouting them for talent. Eg:- Bcf/Warriors/Sigma, Xcc/Omega.

One radical solution would be to set every single promotion to the same regional popularity level. Add a second/third promotion to Japan, America and the UK/Europe area. Lower every fighters' popularity, and it becomes a straight race to the top.

<p>Sharing your roster would be lame as they would take random fights when I would've booked a championship match a week later.</p><p> </p><p>

Egalizing the pop values doesn't help. You'll eclipse them from the get-go. Only great for observer games, which is what I do most lately. Sim 10 years and see what happens. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Adds another layer to the gameplay.</p>

Right now it's not an option at all. I wanted to book a title fight for a shared worker, but she chose a random low-card fight over mine because it was booked a few days earlier, despite being planned later and being far less prestigious. The game just looks at who books first. Imo there should be a notice period. In reality, fights are often pondered and discussed weeks (if not a month) before actually being announced.</p>
