jjglvz
The Story Browser is a utility(not an app!) written in Liberty Basic for viewing storylines that were originally made for TEW2010 by Sonfaro and others. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff185/udispc/screen_1.jpg Although the prewritten storylines feature no longer exists in the game these stories can still be useful in providing inspiration and a series of angles and matches for the player to follow. Infact using them in TEW now really offers the best of both worlds as they no longer have to be followed rigidly as they used to in TEW10, and the whole story doesn't have to be cancelled if a character gets injured or whatever. I don't have the full version of Liberty Basic needed to make standalone exe's. I used to have a serial but I seem to have lost it. So the free version of LB will be required to run the program. http://www.libertybasic.com/ Unless there's a kind soul out there who owns the full version... Version 1 has been achieved! All being well the program will not need further changes and future updates will be to the database file only. http://www.mediafire.com/file/u3uf5998ubt1w2r/storybrowse_v1.zip
cappyboy
Man this is a wonderful idea. Been trying to figure out how to do a story mod for the current game but I don't feel like I have the same juice to get it done without the old structure. This way I could set them up in 10 and people could still use them. Thank you for breathing new life in story modding.
Dr_Avalanche
This is really cool. When I have a little more time I'll sit down and see how it works. Good job.

This can be done by modifying the data file that comes with the program. (Tools for converting from TEW10 are no longer available). The file can be easily opened in a text editor like notepad. WynterWarm12
Holy crap, this is amazing. Great idea. Sometimes I need inspiration for my storylines so this is right up my alley. I'll see if I have any story files laying around so I can update the data

Dragonkandi
This may be a stupid question...but how do I get it to work? <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
jjglvz
<p>It's not stupid if you don't know the answer. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> You need to install Liberty Basic first, there's a link in my first post.</p><p> </p><p> Then you run Liberty Basic and locate and open the program, or, right-click on the program and select open and from the dialog select LB to open it with.</p><p> </p><p> Then, use the "Run" menu or the Play button to run it.</p><p> </p><p> I'm working on an update at the moment. It'll have a Load/Save/Merge option for making it easier to use multiple data files. I've also been converting some of Captain2's TEW13 Dynasty storylines to the program which I actually got totally sidetracked by and therefore haven't done any of the stuff I meant to do yet. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

cappyboy
<p>Looks like you have some crediting issues here. Most if not all of the 80's storylines were done by D. Boon's Ghost as part of the old Death Of The Territories mod. You have a couple from my Cappy Pack (And Eat It Too, The Lovers Threatened) credited to Panix. And there might be others but these are the standouts to me.</p><p> </p><p> Oh and speaking of the Cappy Pack, if you don't have all of it I'd be happy to send it along. I absolutely want my work to be available in this format.</p>
jjglvz
<p>Thanks for the heads up. I'd actually started re-crediting some of the D.Boon(=Eric Baker?) stories not just to ensure proper credit was given but because I'm the kind of geek who likes everything to be properly sorted and classified. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I'll modify yours too and check Genadi's databases as well. I believe Panix's contribution was to add the singles/tag/stable classes and to allocate segments to shows/weeks.</p><p> </p><p> I've got your database, but for the time being I'll just be polishing the existing story file and not generally adding extra stories just yet. If you happen to be interested in adding some I'll be posting an update at some point that will support separate story files, plus other exciting features! <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

jjglvz
I've updated the program. I'll arbitrarily declare that version 1.0 has been reached now. Changes made include:- -Load/save/merge has been added to make life easier for others should they wish to add stories. -The "weeks" filter has been changed to "months", data has been adjusted where necessary. -Segments are numbered now. -The database has had some work done on it but there's still a lot more that I want to do. The new download link can be found in the first post.

Mattywood
I kind of forgot that people aren't always familiar with programming interfaces nowadays. Now in MY day when you booted up your computer the first thing you were presented with was the BASIC prompt to start programming. And if you wanted to play a game then you programmed the damn thing yourself. I still remember the days of DOS. Ah yes, Fridays in computer class in elementary school were always fun because after a week of typing lines of words, we could play one of two games: Pipeline and Wheel of Fortune, baby!
