SWF: Istanbul!

Hey all! So since I joined these boards, essentially every dynasty project I've attempted has been a horrible failure that I gave up on in weeks. I think I've realised the reason for this though. I think my overall approach to dynasties has been wrong, I've seen 99% of the great dynasties where shows are written up properly and I've attempted to emulate this, but I just don't enjoy doing it.

So what this project is gonna be is a more informal approach, where I talk more about what I'm thinking for the booking of each show and other matters in the game. It'll also be somewhat tutorial-esque, I won't exactly be explaining core mechanics or CV lore but I'll give reasons for the decisions I make in a way that I guess could help some newer players.

There will be no write-ups or character bits, so if that's what you look for in a dynasty I'd stop reading now.

Day One

So the first thing I notice once I start the game is that Remo and Huey Cannonball both have bad gimmicks. As they're both champions, and Remo in particular is one of my biggest stars, this obviously needs to be amended...

Switching to a Prima Donna character makes enough sense for Huey, since The Awesomeness seem to be obsessed with themselves and the spotlight. Remo I imagine being portrayed as a legit athlete, with training camps and etc. Might bring someone in to play his coach.

Next I decided to check the Next Big Things section and...

Wow, we're loaded. The future of the SWF looks bright, Marshall Dillon especially seems like he'll become a massive star for us so long as he's booked right.

He's very solid at the moment, but if he's gonna become a top star his Psychology needs work. I may potentially pair him up with a veteran worker to help him out.

Despite being the top company in the world, USPW are still lagging behind both us and TCW in the National Battle rankings. My position isn't exactly comfortable, but I should be able to retain #1 unless a major star jumps ship. I could sign Marat Khoklov to essentially secure my position for the foreseeable future, but that's a pretty cliche signing.

Speaking of signings...

Mario da Silva is a fun one. I love his bio and jiu-jitsu background, and I think bringing his style to the SWF will add a unique bit of flavour to the mid-card. I also like to imagine Richard Eisen pulling a Jinder, hiring and pushing someone to appeal to a foreign market (in Mario's case, Brazil). I doubt I'll be giving Silva an SWF Championship reign any time soon, but who knows?

Rudy Velasquez piqued my interest when I noticed he was at #1 on the Hidden Gems part of the Creative Meeting, and he's a guy I've never used before. I then realised from reading his bio that he's one of three lads trained by the legendary Shawn Gonzalez, along with Hector Galindo and Jesus Chavez. I decided to bring all three in, as well as Monique (Rudy's girlfriend) to complete the ensemble. Time for some lovely stereotypical Latino gangsters to grace the SWF.

Whilst checking the Hidden Gems I figured I'd also check who happens to be on Time Decline...

Edit: Ouch, Jack Bruce is 8 years past his prime, that must hurt. Is there anyone else in Time's decline or is it just Jack?

While his matches are going to suffer badly, his promos will remain amazing thanks to his great charisma and pop (94 in the USA). Remo is our reigning SWF Champion, a homegrown talent with fantastic menace and amazing star quality, making him our second biggest draw (and by a long way too). His performance skills need work before he's truly ready to carry the company, and him being the champion isn't exactly ideal at the moment, but he can and (hopefully) will develop into a fine worker. Gilmore is probably the best overall worker in the company, boasting performance skills at a level that nobody else can really match. He's also great on the mic, and if at this point you're wondering why he isn't made SWF Champion given the longest title reign possible... <div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="U5zdt8QLRQuUET-6IZqqHQ.png" data-src="https://image.prntscr.com/image/U5zdt8QLRQuUET-6IZqqHQ.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> </div> Yea. Now, 80 SQ isn't terrible, but it's certainly not good enough to be the company's top star, especially with guys like Remo and their 98 SQ. Gilmore will probably have another title reign or two, but unfortunately his one weakness is a massive detriment, so he will never be the guy. Looking more broadly at the roster, we have 17 faces and 20 heels. While this isn't a perfect split, it's pretty good for a start, though one area that does concern me is the main event. We have three faces in the main event picture, those being Skull DeBones, Angry Gilmore and Jack Bruce. Bruce and DeBones are both heavily into decline, and a match with Remo will probably bomb, leaving Gilmore as the only money feud. This is a big problem, and I'll need to bring some more guys into the main event, or have Remo drop the title. <div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="QsK9hr9_QzauGcav0VaYpQ.png" data-src="https://image.prntscr.com/image/QsK9hr9_QzauGcav0VaYpQ.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> </div> The Tag Team Division suffers from a similar problem, as there are only two face tag teams available (The Amazing Bumfholes and Hero Squad, with the All-Americans being inactive due to the injury of Des Davids), and the current champs are the heel team The Awesomeness. That being said, there are only 3 heel teams, so as a whole the division is just shallow, signing some more tag teams (which has already been started with the signing of the Latino Kings) is a big priority here. We've touched upon both the SWF Championship and the Tag Team Championships a bit, so let's take a look at the North American Title. <div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="_rc_yp0RRp677v8Tf6X-ng.png" data-src="https://image.prntscr.com/image/_rc_yp0RRp677v8Tf6X-ng.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> </div> The current champion is The Man Who Broke TCW's Heart Joey Morgan, otherwise known as Joey Minnesota when he was working for the scum- err, competition. Joey is absolutely fantastic in the ring and will only continue to improve, and with 88 SQ I have absolutely no reservations in making it clear: Morgan is going to be a big star for us. The North American Title itself is your standard mid-card title, and at this point Joey has already outgrown it in my opinion. Paul Huntingdon is the former champion, and the storyline going forward at the moment is that he'll stop at absolutely nothing to win it back. Honestly, I'm not too interested in either man holding the strap, and I'll probably look to give it to someone lower down the card, so that I can elevate Joey and Huntingdon to the main event. <div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="GKfJxUaeSwetzq1tCZ3ejg.png" data-src="https://image.prntscr.com/image/GKfJxUaeSwetzq1tCZ3ejg.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> </div> We have five storylines at the start of the game, and each of them are doing quite well in terms of heat. As a national Sports Entertainment style company we need to have at least two storylines at 77 heat at all times, which should be easy enough. A Bitter Dispute is about Valiant - an upper mid-card worker on the brink of main event status - battling with Brandon James - who sucks. Basically a couple months ago Valiant beat him in a tournament, and of course James got a bit pissy and decided to cost Valiant the final. This is the first time the two have really feuded, so it should be interesting. Amazingly Awesome pits The Amazing Bumfholes against The Awesomeness (get it?) in a feud for the SWF Tag Team Championships. The Bumfholes have been a staple in the SWF for many years, their stupid names and fan favourite personas helping them rise up the card. However, the duo are getting towards the prime years of their careers (31 and 32 years old) and it may be time to begin breaking them up, lest they end up like The Biggz Boys. The Awesomeness are the hot new team on the block (although they've actually been with the company for like five years), and they recently won the titles from the Bumfholes. Jack Is Back is very clearly about the return of Jack Giedroyc, Rogue's face persona. Man On The Edge like I've touched on is a pretty annoying storyline to inherit, as I don't really want either Huntingdon or Morgan staying in the North American Title picture for long. A brief summary would be: Huntingdon lost the title, Huntingdon lost the rematch, Huntingdon is going a bit crazy. Joey is pretty generic right now and will need an actual character at some point. Last but not least, The Tussle At The Top is our big SWF Championship programme, and it is of course about Remo (who won the title at the December 2015 show 'Christmas Clash') and the former champion Angry Gilmore. Oh, and apparently Rogue is involved too. I don't know exactly how Rogue has any sort of claim on the title given that he lost it months ago, but I suppose this'll be something I have to figure out. Anyway, in this segment Rogue will complain about this fact, Gilmore will come out and say that nobody's getting a shot at Remo before him, then Jerry comes out and books our main event, Gilmore v Rogue, and if Rogue wins, the main event of 'When Hell Freezes Over' becomes a Triple Threat. Good opening segment to get the crowd hot. Spade Video Package: Spencer Spade has been stuck in RIPW for what seems like forever, and he's more than ready to be brought up. So we'll be airing some vignettes over the next month or so, hoping that he can pick up some more pop and get acquainted with the SWF audience. I imagine this video just being a compilation of his big moves whilst you hear some two-bit commentators yell generic lines about how great he is. THE AMAZING BUMFHOLES VS. THE PAIN ALLIANCE: Just a match to get the Bumfs some momentum, since they just lost the titles to The Awesomeness. Bumfs and Awesomeness Segment: Firstly, Huey Cannonball's change to a Prima Donna gimmick rated in at 'Great', which is great news (ha). So the Bumfs cut a promo apologising for letting their fans down at Christmas Clash (which BTW I'm imagining took place on Thursday, Week Four of December, 2015. I'm not a fan of holding PPVs in Week Two, so all SWF PPVs will be in Week Four), but they go on to say they're determined to win the titles back, all that. The Awesomeness interrupt and claim that The Bumfs are pathetic for being desperate to please their fans at all times, and that one day this will come back to bite them (foreshadowing). This didn't do great rating wise, but whatever. Huntingdon Begs For Another Chance: I went for this segment for two reasons. First, I want to show that you can't just continue getting chances at the title if you lose matches repeatedly, as shown by Jerry refusing to give Paul another shot. Secondly, I want to show that Huntingdon is becoming a bit obsessed with the title, leading to the proud aristocrat literally falling to his knees and begging for another shot. Rated pretty okay too, Huntingdon has big things in his future. BRANDON JAMES VS. BRETT BIGGINS: Booked simply to put James over. Poor Brett. Angelle and James' Challenge: The big idea for Brandon this year is going to be that he wants to return to his former glory (a 4-month reign with the SWF Title I suppose constitutes glory), and he's using 2016 as a year to "reboot". However, he needs to set the record straight, and that is by beating Valiant in a match to prove that he really is better. Angelle is a far-cry from Emma Chase, and instead of speaking for Brandon she mostly backs him up. Overall Brandon is going to become a more independent, free-thinking individual than he was during his, what, 12 year stint with Emma? Morgan Interview: Morgan kinda needs a better character than just 'Old School Face', as although this is a solid foundation it doesn't have much depth. So this segment was created to display a part of his personality that will hopefully get people to like him: he's a fighting champion. He praises all of the participants of tonight's 4Way to determine the North American Championship's #1 Contender, and says that he's ready and willing to fight anyone who comes at him. Obviously more work needs to be done, but this is a start. THE CRIPPLER VS. JIMMY HERNANDEZ: Crip is in a pretty odd spot right now. His assault on Bruce was months ago, but he hasn't quite received the SWF World Championship match he wants yet. This match was mostly just to pad his CV, and in my head he has been undefeated since turning on Bruce. Crip Interview: Here Crip is interviewed about the rumours of a Jack Bruce return that he started circulating. Crippler is a complete scumbag of a human being, and so simply says if Bruce dares to return, he'll just break his neck again. And this time, Bruce won't even be able to walk, let alone wrestle. Crip will also use this time to complain about a lack of opportunity, and make the threat that if he doesn't get a deserved shot at the title soon, another SWF wrestler might find themselves on the shelf. NORTH AMERICAN #1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH: Squeeky McClean picks up the win here against American Machine, Mikey Lau and Joe Sexy. McClean is a fantastic worker and honestly if he was a bit younger we'd be moving him into the main event, but unfortunately that seems unlikely now. That being said, he'd make a perfect North American Champion, and without giving too much away, he'll be having an impact on the feud between Morgan and Huntingdon. McClean Promo: A pretty standard heel promo really, McClean insults the crowd for worshipping a champion like Joey Morgan, proclaiming that in 3 weeks at 'When Hell Freezes Over', the SWF will have a champion they can look up to again. ROGUE VS. ANGRY GILMORE: Two of my top stars so the rating was never really in doubt. The finish of this match was a 'Rage DQ', allow me to elaborate. Towards the end of the match Rogue will leave the ring and kiss Jessie, Gilmore's wife and valet. As expected, Gilmore goes mental, dragging Rogue back into the ring and striking at him in the corner, ignoring the referee's five count and getting himself DQ'd. This both protects Gilmore (because he didn't really lose) and puts over the fact that Rogue is a cheap, manipulative, cowardly, despicable person. Closing Segment: The show ends with Gilmore continuing to pummel Rogue, but as he attempts his 'Anger Management' move Rogue is able to slip out and escape, back-pedalling up the ramp with a massive grin on his face. We then see Remo for the first time tonight, on the Titantron. He is at his training camp in Colorado (where he lives), surrounded by a collection of personal trainers, all watching a TV (which is playing SupremeTV). Remo smirks, showing that he isn't at all fazed by having to defend his title against two men at 'When Hell Freezes Over'. His new 'Pure Athlete' gimmick debuted here, and rated at 'Above Average', which isn't bad, though I do want better from a main event talent. Next Time: The fallout of SupremeTV, being barraged by call-up requests and we make some signings.

Part Four - It Begins

So a successful first show in the books, and the first thing I want to do on Wednesday morning is check how the competition got on:

A good show from our rivals, though not quite as good as ours. Bach and Vessey seem like they wrestled up a storm, but the rest of the card was pretty lacklustre, giving us the win the first battle of 2016' ratings war.

Despite there being TV episodes from two of the biggest companies in the world, the TEW website had its spotlight on another issue entirely:

For those of you unfamiliar with Professor Nero, he is one of the CornellVerse's most legendary heels, being something of a trailblazer in the 1970s in terms of how far a villain can go, playing a sadistic character that traumatised audiences and continues to make Texans go whiter than your dad when a rap song comes on at the mere mention of his name. Nero worked for the SWF for just four years when he was an active competitor, but was entrusted by Richard Eisen to set up and run the SWF's developmental company Rhode Island Pro Wrestling, a role he thrived in for 8 years. Who knows if someone like Spencer Spade would have turned out so great without Nero's guidance? With this in mind I'm adding him to my list of people to induct into the SWF Hall of Fame.

USPW's 2016 has gotten off to a (predictably) terrible start, leaving me to genuinely wonder how they managed to reach their current size. They had a good main event but he trest of the show seemed awful, and their angles weren't that great either. Poor. NOTBPW on the other hand are showing everybody up with two great matches, just too bad they're stuck in a country nobody cares about.

Gilmore Wants Rogue: So after last week's events it's obvious Gilmore would be pissed off and would want to get his hands on Rogue. However, I don't want to have a repeat from last week, so the excuse made is that Rogue isn't even in the building, and instead Gilmore will get to take out his anger on The Crippler in a No DQ main event. Later on it is revealed that Rogue in fact is in the building, which will lead to further questions of whether or not Jerry knew this and if so, why he didn't allow Gilmore his match. ERIC EISEN VS. BRETT BIGGINS: This was done just to get Eric a bit of momentum. Didn't expect much out of this. Eric's Mentorship: This is kickstarting a new angle for Eric Eisen, as although he's popular and capable enough on the mic, I don't really want him working in the main event scene. Instead, Eric will seek to mentor the next generation of SWF stars. This will be elaborated on further in the next part, but for now the message is that Eric feels a sense of duty to help the young talents. Bumfs Autograph Signing: So the idea here is that footage is shown of the Bumfholes at an autograph signing, when The Awesomeness come up to their booth. The Bumfs know full well that they're just mocking them, but The Awesomeness question whether or not they'd dare ignore a fan, and finally Zimmy and Randy give them autographs. Huey and Jefferson of course rip them up straight away, call the Bumfs losers, etc. This continues building the Bumfs as guys who feel obligated to please their fans, while making The Awesomeness look like A-holes. Spencer Spade Video Package: Continuing the objective of hyping up Spencer Spade's debut, I would imagine this one having Spencer himself speak, listing some of the great SWF legends like Christian Faith, Sam Strong and Rip Chord, before saying he's ready to earn the right to be held in the same breath as these legends. JOEY MORGAN VS. BEAR BEKOWSKI: Morgan did really well to carry Bekowski to a 75 here, a testament to his in-ring skill. McClean Blindsides Morgan: Squeeky McClean is a classic dastardly heel, so of course when he has a chance he's going to sneak attack his rival and pose with the title. Remo's Trailer Shown: Just to tease the fact that Remo is in the building tonight. Also to continue presenting him as a big deal, with his own massive trailer that (I imagine) is all cool looking with like, a picture of his face on it. Remo's a big deal, basically. Huntingdon Squats: The plot of Huntingdon being desperate for one more shot at the North American Title advances as he comes to the ring and refuses to leave until his demands are met. Valiant comes out and does the typical babyface shtick, saying the "great fans in Iowa" didn't come to see Huntingdon sit in a ring, they came to see action. Valiant then challenges Huntingdon to a match right there, and Huntingdon must accept if he wants to continue his squatting. VALIANT VS. PAUL HUNTINGDON: This did well enough. Valiant needed to win so that the show could actually progress, and it also shows that Huntingdon is on something of a downward spiral. Valiant Accepts James' Challenge: Valiant is a never-say-die babyface, so he accepts Brandon's challenge. Hannah was also in this segment, and on TV the duo are in a relationship, so she basically promotes Valiant as a good man who will never back down from a fight, and promises in a few weeks he'll beat James in the middle of the ring. Crip Interview: All The Crippler really cares about is getting the SWF Championship before he retires, so although he doesn't have any emotional investment in fighting Remo, the story here is that this is probably Crip's biggest match since turning, because if he can beat Gilmore it will prove that he is a bonafide main event player. He's also asked about Jack Bruce towards the end of this segment, which he completely ignores before walking off. THE CRIPPLER VS. ANGRY GILMORE: Having Gilmore lose twice in two weeks is a bit odd, but it seemed necessary at this point. Firstly, it elevates Crip a bit. Second, the end of this match comes when Rogue (who remember, was "not in the building") shows up and hits Gilmore with 'Crashing On', costing him the match. This will further the feud between the two and protect Gilmore in defeat. Rogue Beats Down Gilmore, Remo Saves: So after the match Rogue obviously isn't done with Gilmore and continues to beat him down, until Remo's music hits. Rogue is terrified and once Remo enters the ring he immediately leaves, jumping a barricade to escape. Then, when it appears Remo is about to demolish Gilmore, he allows him to get up and simply raises his title. I'm pushing Remo as this legit athlete type character, and one of the characteristics of that is that Remo isn't your typical heel that'll go around attacking people when they're vulnerable. Remo wants legitimate competition, and will have no qualms with destroying Gilmore when it's an even playing field, but he isn't going to attack a man when he's down. Next Time: We consider some more signings, see how our competition is doing and try not to be driven insane by the wave of RIPW call-up requests.

If your considering new signings, why not go for Harry Allen & Ford Gumble [aka. The Young Guns] both of them are unemployed, relatively popular and have lots of Tag Team experience. There is also Raphael, who is unemployed and has Tag Experience with Justin Sensitive [aka. The Heartbreakers]. Perhaps, you could grab Frankie Perez, who is great wrestler in his own right and has Tag Experience with Mikey Lau [aka. The Cali Dragons].

Since the last update all members of The Latino Kings have arrived at the SWF, the three workers pushing as Enhancement Talents while Monique of course pushes as a manager.

Rudy and Hector appear to be the tag team of the trio, so my plan is to have Jesus act as the big bad enforcer, as is alluded to in his bio. Overall the star of this group is easily Rudy, Jesus could become a solid mid-carder too. Hector is...pretty bad, but a 100 experience tag team is worth it. Monique certainly isn't anything special in terms of stats (not even being that attractive) but her positive relationship with Rudy helps.

It should be noted that Mario da Silva also signed, but he has been sent down to Rhode Island Pro Wrestling for the time being. The Latino Kings are needed to bolster the tag division, and I don't want too many debuts at once.

In other news we continue to address our Tag Division issues, and having checked for potential teams on the main roster, I've noticed that Marshall Dillon and Oliver Kobb actually have experience together as Southern Comfort. Their bios and gimmicks suggest that they're a pair of southern boys (with the farmer strength), and in the next few shows I'll be finding a way to pair them up on-screen.

I personally just don't book with a lot of risque angles, so I figure it'd just be a hindrance. He can have a great relationship with his brother as the two team up to keep him on top, or Jerry could be the one keeping him grounded.
