Derek B Posted July 5, 2017 Share Posted July 5, 2017 So, this is a community resource I've been looking to organise for a long time. The basic version of what I'm looking to do is create a large number of free pictures that all mod makers can use for any purpose, whether that be a real world mod or a fantasy mod of your own creation. Ideally, this means that all long term games will play better and for a longer period of time, while also allowing anyone working on their own data to focus on the parts of the data that are more important. With that said, I have less than zero skill in actually cutting pictures. What I can do is collect images, boring data entry work and organising everything to release as a picture set for all to use. It's not glamorous, but if it ends up making games a lot more fun for everyone then it's a win for all of us. What I'm looking for is people to cut images to 150*150 pixel size and a transparent gif format. That should ensure the pictures can work with any mod without looking out of place. As for sources.... go wild. This is a free mod so all pictures should fall within reasonable use. All the different game roles will need to be covered and we'll need lots of men and women of every race to make the most of this. We'll need to cover everything from hot female valets, menacing masked men, referees for everywhere in the world. Draw inspiration from actors, friends, family , adult entertainment, eccentric people, cosplayers, all kinds of masks, a huge array of interesting looking people and even some people so bland it hurts. With current real world mods generally needing future workers to fill them out for any long term game, this community resource will help all of them play out better in the long run, which is something I've been working on with Fleisch's mod already to make it as good as possible. I'll post links on a monthly basis (perhaps more often if this project becomes popular) and regularly update this with any areas that could do with some extra attention. I'll try to keep an up to date list of thanks yous for any contributions made. Lastly, many thanks in advance for anyone wanting to contribute, all contributions are going to be enthusiastically welcomed and massively appreciated. But below is the link to more than 3,000 real world pictures and a dataset that allows you to easily import them into games that have already begun. There will be some overlap with similar projects as contributors have given me permission to use them, so don't worry if some pictures can't be imported. Sendspace Download (90Mb) - https://www.sendspace.com/file/lb25oh TO INSTALL THE DATABASE 1. Use TEW2016 to create a new database and picture folder (let's call it FreePics) 2. Extract the files using 7zip or other compatible software (due to download limits I had to pick a filetype that would compress the files as much as possible, feel free to re-upload with mirror links) 3. Place the TEW2016.mdb folder into the folder for TEW2016 -> Databases -> FreePics 4. Go to TEW2016 -> Pictures -> FreePics and replace the People folder with the one you have downloaded. TO ADD TO ANOTHER DATABASE 1. Use the main editor, select your database and move to the editor. Select Free Pictures (top row, right hand side) -> Import Record -> Select All -> Import. That should be all you need. TO ADD TO EXISTING SAVE 1. Head to Options -> Import Data (4th from bottom left side) -> Import From Database (select FreePics) / Data Type To Import (Free Pictures) -> Select All -> Import Record. And once again, that should be all you need. .................. So, hopefully that's all you need. I'm looking to tighten this mod up in future with a more uniform approach to the names but it's a lot of work and I've not had anywhere near as much time to do this as I would like. I'm looking to add a lot more to this in future too, so any more contributions are welcomed and encouraged. Though any future releases would be sometime in the first quarter of 2018. I'll be properly getting underway on the actual boring parts of this work sometime next week when I have a bit more free time. Due to the large number of images so far I probably won't have them all done for a while, but that's definitely a good sign. I'm also still happy to accept any more offerings too. I think I'll have to surrender the transparent gif part of the pack since the majority of the images are uncut, but I ahve about 3,500 suitable images so far.
