<p>NDR: New Directions in the Ring or New Directors of the Ring</p><p> </p><p>

Members: FCW is a no-brainer for the group. I'd consider QAW (USA) and ACPW (Canada) too. I actually think ZEN (Australia) would be a great fit. </p><p> </p><p>

VWA (Europe) and EX2010 (Japan) would work, so would IPW (USA) and EMLL (Mexico). </p><p> </p><p>

Looking forward to this -- Serpiente was well worth the trouble for me-- he can easily become a top guy if you want to push him.</p>

We’re sitting out on the balcony of my new apartment and watching the people in the pool below. He’s half-way through a six-pack and taking in the abundance of beauty in and around the water. He takes another sip and asks me,</p><p> </p><p> “You have a girl at home Messiah?”</p><p> </p><p> Nobody calls me Daire here. I am now Messiah. Anyway… I give a tight smile and answer the man,</p><p> </p><p> “Not any more Maestro, not any more.”</p><p> </p><p> “Maybe you find a girl here eh? Have beautiful babies. Make your Mama very happy.”</p><p> </p><p> “I’m not counting on it. Maybe.”</p><p> </p><p> We both return to staring below. I think we’re both looking at the same woman. I don’t think we’re on the same wavelength though. I can see an appreciative smile on the face of El Maestro. I can see no way that I could talk to the person below.</p><p> </p><p> “Hi, you have a passing resemblance to the woman I thought I’d marry. Can I buy you a drink?”</p><p> </p><p> Yeah that’s a definite success story waiting to happen right there. No, I have another night of staring at the ceiling and trying to figure out what went wrong with Alana ahead of me. I can hardly wait… El Maestro pulls me back from the edge of my little cliff of melancholy when he enquires,</p><p> </p><p> “So, you have the alliance all done yes? Tell me again who is in and what it will mean!”</p><p> </p><p> I turn back to the man and allow myself a smile. I’m proud of this. This was a good idea.</p><p> </p><p> “Yeah, it’s all set. <strong>New Dawn Rising</strong> is a going concern. As our slogan says, “We’re here to change the future, not cling to the past!”</p><p> </p><p> “Is good stuff,” nods Maestro, “like you say, different to COTT!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/vJOfKcT.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/ENweNpc.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> “Exactly. We’re not directly attacking them but it’s pretty clear. We’re more progressive, less limited. They’re only willing to work with regional and smaller companies. That’s all we have too at the moment but we’ve announced that we’re happy to work with groups all the way up to National size. We’re not doing business with companies who trade on traditionalism or old-school realism. It’s contrary to the image we want for ourselves. We’re cutting edge, we’re positive.”</p><p> </p><p> “Who is with us?” asks El Maestro again.</p><p> </p><p> “Four others so, including us, five in total. PSW are the biggest partner. They are effectively an evolved DAVE so they fit the mould we want. An evolution, a progression, an improvement on what went before. Mitch Naess and Alex Braun are the guys running the show there, they’re good hands and we can work well with them. QAW are onboard too. I wanted to get them since AAA have signed up with COTT. Truth be told I might have preferred AAA but QAW have benefits as well. They’re based in Texas and they have a bunch of Mexicans on their books so loaning some luchadoras from there could be a very lucrative way of trialing talent before committing. Farrah Hesketh is shrewd too, she’s been around long enough, she sees the benefits in this and she knows we could all be winners here. We’ve also pulled in ACPW from Canada. They’re small but they work with a lot of cruiserweights so, again, there’s going to be plenty of guys who might be a good fit here with us. The same is true of Zen. They’re basically a Lucha fed in New Zealand. Intriguing group. Again, it gives us access to a whole load of potentially suitable talent that would otherwise be inaccessible to us.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/vJOfKcT.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Kdfi8is.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/m7vfYTH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5ckdT0Y.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/NV5b4Ra.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/sLj2SDn.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> “Nobody from Japan?”</p><p> </p><p> “No,” I respond, “we looked at it but everybody was either already part of Modern Japan, bigger than we wanted to start with or Black Canvas Grappling. They’re just not a fit. Way too traditional for us. I’ve got to say though, I’m excited about this, I really do see this as something that could be a potential game changer for all of the groups involved.”</p><p> </p><p> El Maestro nods in agreement.</p><p> </p><p> “Is an exciting time Messiah.”</p><p> </p><p> His gaze turns back to the pool.</p><p> </p><p> “What about her?” he suggests.</p><p> </p><p> I shrug a little awkwardly. I guess it’s nice that my boss has seemingly decided to invest in getting my love life sorted but I’m just not feeling it. It sounds like Amazing Fire Fly is even better than I thought.<p> </p><p> I like the format as well. I think you got enough information across in the summaries, and I imagine it's more manageable writing this way.</p><p> </p><p> I'm really surprised AAA joined COTT, but that's a cool random factor added to this diary.</p><p> </p><p> For the alliance, I think a traditional focused alliance (kind of an anti-Modern Japan movement) could make for some great interludes. It would also help you add some special matches to your bigger 2 hour shows.</p><p> </p><p> As for potential members, I'm not sure how big you want to make this, but I'll go with QAW (for women wrestlers that can help put over your own talent), FCW (a surpisingly good source of Lucha wrestlers, one of which I'd like to suggest signing but I'm not sure if your taking suggestions yet <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />), and BCG (not sure if you're looking to ally with a company in Japan, but they are one of the few companies there not in MJM). All three are traditional based, and would provide some interesting talent that you could match up with your own wrestlers.</p><p> </p><p> As for the name, really stumped here, but it would be cool if you could combine Spanish, English and Japanese to match up with the members and the international feel of the alliance. Our bit, as outlined above, is basically that we're the future while COTT are clinging to the past. Accordingly FCW and BCG weren't really considered. We did take QAW anyway though. We're pragmatists more than we are idealists. Glad you appreciate the format too.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smw88" data-cite="smw88" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44032" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Great write up and show, gutted I missed predictions!<p> </p><p> NDR - New Dawn Revolution</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Glad you enjoyed! <p>CILL: Love Hurts - A Preview</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/5ckdT0Y.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CILL: Love Hurts – Match Card</strong> (card subject to change)</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Diamante Negro © w/ Antonia Andres Vs. Fallen Angel – for the CILL World Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/ooQf8Jm.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/5hODxYj.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/sWIXfkY.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/9u99nQO.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

After capturing the title from Magik in a Steel Cage Match last time out at CILL: Flashpoint (albeit with a considerable assist from manager Antonia Andres) Diamante Negro can be forgiven for having a slight swagger in his step. That being said there seems little doubt that the well-travelled American will have his work cut out when he puts his championship on the line against Fallen Angel. The challenger has twice before held this gold and, off the back of an impressive victory against the highly regarded El Pavo Real in his last outing, he will also be extremely confident of making it a hat trick of reigns as the main man here in CILL.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Viking Raiders © (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking) Vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez – for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/1tz1C4p.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/7ybUCDs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h5N1PGE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BrBU7sH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/rIsSyCN.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Both these teams picked up big victories at CILL: Flashpoint. The Viking Raiders retained their championship gold when they saw off the game but ultimately over-matched The Wild Cats. Rapid Attack emerged victorious against the highly decorated team of The Wildfires in a bout that was particularly pleasing for Mercedes Gimenez as her current duo defeated her previous clients. Driven on by a particularly impressive showing from Amazing Fire Fly their next challenge will be even greater as they step back into the ring with the pair who defeated them for the titles – the unpredictable, brutal Ragnar and Uhtred.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Catalina Vazquez, Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez Vs. Jaguar Queen, Maribel Mercado and Poison Ivy – Lucha Libra Rules</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/zoLRKRs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/eN2Ds5w.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/OS0e9n1.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/ExZMndu.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/PscsFcy.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The CILL Women’s Division will be showcased in this three on three match. On one side we have CILL World Women’s Champion Estrella Blanca, the always popular Pinkie Perez and precocious youngster Catalina Vazquez. Facing them, in the rudo corner, are the flamboyant Poison Ivy, rising star Maribel Mercado and the enigmatic Jaguar Queen. The first team to score two falls will be victorious in a match that could set the tone for this whole division going forward.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Dragon Del Arco Iris Jr. Vs. El Pavo Real</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/pJvdo7n.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/CltU2Fx.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

This is another match between two fiercely ambitious wrestlers with big plans. Dragon has made no bones about his dreams to capture a world title and bring glory to the mask first worn by his father. A victory against El Pavo Real, a former two time CILL World Champion would go some way towards putting him on the map. El Pavo Real, for his part, will have every intention of using this bout as a springboard to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Fallen Angel at CILL: Flashpoint.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>10 Man Battle Royal featuring: Border Patrol II, El Jaguar, El Serpiente, El Sultan, Entropy, Hush, Hypnotiq Jr., Monkey Man, Tigre Salvaje and Wraith.</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/mOOyKfO.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/pGLNjPz.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/cV83sLE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/aeED7i9.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h2mj3nB.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/eybC1BQ.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/yESFpJE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/z6x2foZ.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/jzbjULu.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/JJBMRDk.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The winner of this Battle Royal will be the man to next challenge Aztec Prince for the CILL Mexican Championship at CILL’s Supershow in March. The majority of these men did not have an opportunity to show what they can do at CILL: Flashpoint and, indeed, none of those who did managed a victory. All ten then will be hungry to come out on top in this one and prove that they have what it takes to carve out a niche in this brave new era for CILL.</p><p> </p><p>

Predictions Card

Diamante Negro © w/ Antonia Andres Vs. Fallen Angel – for the CILL World Championship

Comment:

The Viking Raiders © (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking) Vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez – for the CILL World Tag Team Championship

Comment: I think the titles will end up on Rapid Attack eventually, but I think the heels survive one more defense.

Catalina Vazquez, Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez Vs. Jaguar Queen, Maribel Mercado and Poison Ivy – Lucha Libra Rules

Comment: A little counter intuitive, but bear with me. I think your technicos are overall better wrestlers than your rudos, but if you're ever going to be able to present your bad guys as a real threat, it's in a 6-man tag match.

Dragon Del Arco Iris Jr. Vs. El Pavo Real

Comment:

10 Man Battle Royal featuring: Border Patrol II, El Jaguar, El Serpiente, El Sultan, Entropy, Hush, Hypnotiq Jr., Monkey Man, Tigre Salvaje and Wraith.

Comment: I don't really know most of these guys very well. Tigre Salvaje was pretty good in my short CZCW save.

Daire Messiah Vs. ???

Comment:

Bonus Questions

1) What will be the highest ranked match of the night? (1 point) The main event.

2) What will be the highest ranked individual performance of the night? (2 points) Let's say Diamante Negro

3) Who will face Daire Messiah (not currently on roster)? (3 points) I think he will face Magik. Time to soak up everything the old champion has to teach you.

You probably want to reward Fire Fly with a victory after his great performance at the last show, but at the same time, I think he's better than being in the tag division. <p>Ugh, loved reading up to the first show (and sort of copying the format for my current GSW Dynasty, I'll admit) but forgot to subscribe and just couldn't remember the name of this thing. Back now and here are the predictions</p><p> </p><p>

Predictions Card</p><p>

<strong>Diamante Negro © w/ Antonia Andres</strong> Vs. Fallen Angel – for the CILL World Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>Don't think Diamante would lose on his first defense. Seems like you have plans for him and being American helps put a good rudo together</em></p><p>

The Viking Raiders © (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking) Vs. <strong>Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez</strong> – for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>You seemed very impressed with with Rapid Attack last show and they'd probably have better matchups with the rest of the high flying roster than the brawling rudos. Makes sense to rebuild the Viking Raiders as dominant monster heels for a while. My only hesitation here is who's got charisma and popularity on their side, this being a pop>perf company.</em></p><p>

<strong>Catalina Vazquez, Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez</strong> Vs. Jaguar Queen, Maribel Mercado and Poison Ivy – Lucha Libra Rules</p><p>

Comment: <em>Tough to predict and sure to be a hard earned win.</em></p><p>

<strong>Dragon Del Arco Iris Jr.</strong> Vs. El Pavo Real</p><p>

Comment: <em>Think Dragon wasn't exactly the best talent around, certainly not good enough to beat Pavo. His need for a recovery win is bigger, Dragon can take a pin and keep going</em></p><p>

10 Man Battle Royal featuring: Border Patrol II, El Jaguar, El Serpiente, <strong>El Sultan</strong>, Entropy, Hush, Hypnotiq Jr., Monkey Man, Tigre Salvaje and Wraith.</p><p>

Comment: <em>I'd like to say Monkey Man, but he already got the title shot and it would feel repetitive. Jaguar and Tigre could win this, but they can also do without as they're a tag team. I'll go with El Sultan simply because Prince vs Sultan sounds good enough to sell itself.</em></p><p>

Daire Messiah Vs. <strong>???</strong></p><p>

Comment: <em>Messiah can still afford to lose as he builds up his pop in Mexico</em></p><p>

Bonus Questions</p><p>

1) What will be the highest ranked match of the night? (1 point) <em>Should be the </em><em><strong>main event</strong></em><em>, but the tag titles match might also turn out to be a show stealer</em></p><p>

2) What will be the highest ranked individual performance of the night? (2 points) <strong>Amazing Firefly</strong></p><p>

3) Who will face Daire Messiah (not currently on roster)? (3 points) <em>I'm guessing </em><em><strong>Aztec Prince</strong></em><em>. He can use more momentum going into a title defense, he can face Messiah in a pre-show without the title having to be mentioned/defended and judging from all the whining, I don't think a title holder would keep silent if he was left off the show</em></p><p> </p><p>

P.S. I know Europe and the UK are all about oldschool traditionalism, but perhaps VWA would fit nicely in NDR. Their all-inclusive concept allows for a lot of cutting edge stuff and it would also allow you access to another talent pool.</p>

None of the quartet in the ring were quite as impressive as they were last time out. For the challengers this was not such a big deal as they still buzzed around the ring and, Amazing Fire Fly in particular, played their part in getting the crowd hotter. The Viking Raiders, on the other hand, were a little disappointing again. Despite this the match worked well, ending in a DQ victory for Rapid Attack when Ragnar hurled Amazing Fire Fly over the ropes and through a ringside table. <p>Good work on the show, especially since you're still putting the feelers out before you can go full steam.</p><p> </p><p>

Pretty happy with the accuracy of my predictions including the Battle Royal (<em>I told you</em> Sultan vs Prince sells itself lol). Only missed the women's match and apparently highlighted the wrong person in the Pavo vs Dragon match.</p><p> </p><p>

Haven't played Mexico much yet, but Samael's mask and gimmick has caught my attention. Would love to see you recruit him full time, especially for a Messiah vs Accuser feud.</p>

<p>CILL: Love Hurts - Thoughts</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Diamante Negro © w/ Antonia Andres</strong> Vs. Fallen Angel – for the CILL World Championship</p><p> <em>This was all about giving D-Negro a boost to his credibility with a clean win. He established his heel characteristics somewhat first time around when he only won the title with the help of Andres. I want him to be the kind of heel who takes shortcuts because it’s easier, not because he absolutely has to. It’s a bit rough on Fallen Angel to have to put him over clean but, truth be told, I’m not wholly convinced by the bulk of my Main Event scene yet and they need to win me over before there are any rockets strapped to backs.</em></p><p> </p><p> The Viking Raiders © (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking) Vs. <strong>Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez</strong> – for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</p><p> <em>The DQ win isn’t something I envisage using often but it served a few purposes here. It makes my champions, The Viking Raiders, look suitably unhinged and brutal. Rapid Attack don’t get beaten but keep on chasing. It also allowed me the opportunity to turn The Wildfires to a feud with the champs. It made little sense to me to have two teams of brawlers on the Rudo side of the roster. The Viking Raiders have been underwhelming enough so far too, this is potentially make or break time for them as champions.</em></p><p> </p><p> Catalina Vazquez, Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez Vs. <strong>Jaguar Queen, Maribel Mercado and Poison Ivy</strong> – Lucha Libra Rules</p><p> <em>Have a face champion, need to rustle up a new number one contender, what to do? Have the champion pinned in a multi-person tag match of course! Poison Ivy is our top heel at the moment and deserves her shot when the time comes. Pinkie Perez may also look back on this event as a game changer. She gave in the best performance of the whole show and given that her attitude has been fine so far she’ll be in the reckoning here too going forward. At the other end both Jaguar Queen (again) and Vazquez were unimpressive.</em></p><p> </p><p> Dragon Del Arco Iris Jr. Vs. <strong>El Pavo Real</strong></p><p> <em>El Pavo Real realistically only lost to Fallen Angel at CILL: Flashpoint because, once the decision was made to have D-Negro dethrone Magik, we needed a face challenger and that was, almost by default, Fallen Angel. El Pavo Real hasn’t shown much personality yet but his performances bell to bell have been good. Dragon gave a good account of himself in his first outing and will definitely be putting some marks in his ‘W’ column before too long passes.</em></p><p> </p><p> 10 Man Battle Royal featuring: Border Patrol II, El Jaguar, El Serpiente, <strong>El Sultan</strong>, Entropy, Hush, Hypnotiq Jr., Monkey Man, Tigre Salvaje and Wraith.</p><p> <em>This was a bit of a shot in the dark with El Sultan getting the nod. Hush and Hypnotiq are both on my shit list for whinging and weren’t really considered. El Jaguar and Tigre Salvaje were both given the opportunity to show something but are still primarily a tag team and Monkey Man, while a solid pair of hands, wasn’t really considered chiefly as he had just had a Mexican Title shot (though his mask doesn’t help either). I don’t have a handle on the others yet for the simple reason that I have yet to see a match rating for any of them.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Daire Messiah</strong> Vs. ???</p><p> <em>This served two purposes. It allowed Messiah to pick up a win and boost his popularity, getting him closer to the card proper. It also gave an opportunity to Samael the Accuser to show what he could do and it’s fair to say that he certainly didn’t disgrace himself. <strong>Call 1</strong></p><p> </p><p>

“How are things in Mexico then?”</p><p> </p><p>

It’s good to hear Joe’s voice, a sound of the home that is a very, very long way from here. I’m starting to settle in here a little but it’s a strange place to me still and I’m not in such a great place emotionally that I’m able to really embrace my new surroundings as much as I’d like. Joe is a hell of a guy, always was, and he’s interested enough in how things are going with me that he’s asked me to send him DVDs of our shows. I’m happy to do so. Joe has very quickly become a fan of The Viking Raiders, Aztec Prince and, bizarrely, Monkey Man. He’s also worked up a pretty good crush on Jaguar Queen. Joe actually speaks Spanish and he’d probably enjoy a trip over here sometime. He’s demanding to know when he can expect to see me on screen too and laughs when I only reply, “soon!”</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/z6x2foZ.jpg</span></p><p>

For now he’s just happy to hear my anecdotes from the dressing room before CILL: Love Hurts. Morale took a big boost, particularly after Monkey Man spent his afternoon drawing cartoon posters of the rest of us. The man is quite the artist as it happens and has a wicked sense of humour. It’s made me realise that the guy is a lot more than just a surreal costume. He’s a positive guy, still only 25 apparently and, while he doesn’t have a word of English, he’s starting to win me over.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/BrBU7sH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/rIsSyCN.jpg</span></p><p>

Morale was further boosted by Rapid Attack getting ever closer. In addition to showcasing their talents in the ring the duo have struck up a strong friendship. They’re a very likable pair and young enough and talented enough that I can see a big future for them as both a Tag Team and individuals. Amazing Fire Fly has also signed a contract extension with us that, all going well, will see him still here with us in 2020. I allow myself a small smile at the realisation that I am planning for the future here.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/eybC1BQ.jpg</span></p><p>

If it wasn’t for the fact that Hush is still a non-stop moaning factory about his push I’m not sure I’d have anything to complain about in Mexico. I’m going to review the pushes for everybody after our next event. It’s going to be a 2 hour show, provisionally titled CILL: Defend What Is Yours. Only time will tell if Hush gets what he wants, he hasn’t really been given the opportunity to shine yet.</p><p> </p><p>

He asks if I’m spoken to Alana. I say no. I ask if he’s seen her. He says no. Why would he I suppose? He has his own family and Cork is a big enough city that their paths are unlikely to cross when their only tangible link is now sitting out on the balcony again of his Mexican apartment, still trying to wrap his head around the bizarre new direction his life has taken.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Call 2 (sort of)</strong></p><p> </p><p>

I stare at Alana’s number for at least 15 minutes. A little voice says,</p><p> </p><p>

“Just call her. Reach out. Let her know where you are, let her know that you’re ok and that you forgive her and that you will always, always be there if she needs anything at all.”</p><p> </p><p>

A much louder voice suggests inaction is the way to proceed. With a deep sigh and a heavy heart, that’s the one I choose to listen to. To distract myself from all of this I decide to focus on business. I’ve one other call to make.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Call 3</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/KLlcwnN.jpg</span></p><p>

The unmistakable Texas drawl of Boss Man Brayfield greets me enthusiastically from the other end of the line,</p><p> </p><p>

“How the hell is young Daire Messiah?” he booms. We exchange pleasantries, say nice things about each other’s shows. I like Brayfield, he plays a heel manager well but he’s actually a hell of a solid, decent guy and we’ve chatted a few times off the back of the formation of our NDR alliance.</p><p> </p><p>

This call is all about trashing out the last few details and it doesn’t take long at all. For a finish Brayfield gives another loud laugh and assures me,</p><p> </p><p>

“So that’s settled then, the two of them will report to you next month. I believe they will be a raging success. It is a pleasure doing business with you son, this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship!”</p><p> </p><p>

Darkness Cat has to be one of the two faces. She's the only masked luchadora on the initial QAW roster, she's Mexican, fluent in Spanish and can play both face and heel. Slightly better as a heel, which is what you seem to be needing right now.

Unless QAW has signed up some new face you're after, I'm sticking with the Mexican part of the roster:

Alina America

Hellcat Hernandez

Juana Huracan

Pamela Rojo

Raquel Alvarado

Teresa Perez

Of those, Rojo is the most popular one in Mexico (and you know I'm a big fan of her) but I'm guessing you'd bring her over as a team with Hernandez and since I'm pretty sure about Darkness Cat, I'll strike that one out (also Rojo is more face than heel). Alina America is a wildcard, she still needs work in the ring but she can play a heel and the "America" part would also work in terms of narrative. Striking Huracan out since she's too technical for your high flying style. Teresa Perez is also a wild card, but I'll go with my gut instinct here and say the second face will be Raquel Alvarado.

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/ooQf8Jm.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/5hODxYj.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/sWIXfkY.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/CltU2Fx.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/9u99nQO.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Gh96Mg8.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The CILL Main Event scene will collide in a Ladder Match for the top prize in the promotion – the CILL World Championship. Defending champion Diamante Negro will find the odds are not stacked in his favour in this one. His opponents, a trio of Mexico’s finest Luchadors, will all fancy their chances of being the one to climb to the top and unhook the title belt. This quartet comprises the entire history of the CILL World Championship, each man a two time champion since the prize debuted in January of 2011. This has the potential to be the greatest match in the history of CILL. Time will tell if it lives up to this lofty billing but it seems very clear that it will be a bout to remember.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez Vs. Mystery Team</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/eN2Ds5w.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/m7vfYTH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/m7vfYTH.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

CILL Women’s World Champion Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez have been doing a great job of putting the Luchadoras of CILL on the map. There seems no doubt that there will be a collision between them further down the road but, in the here and now, they will be on the same side, defending the honour of CILL against a pair of visiting challengers from NDR affiliate QAW. These talented women will have to focus on the moment and work together, particularly as they won’t know who they’re facing until the night while their opponents (whoever they may be) will have plenty of time to prepare for the challenge facing them.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Aztec Prince vs. El Sultán vs. Entropy vs. Monkey Man – an elimination match for the CILL Mexican Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/Bs7aELj.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/6P2ia5Q.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/aeED7i9.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h2mj3nB.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/z6x2foZ.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Keeping the multi-competitor match approach that will apparently be the norm for title matches at this event, there is plenty of anticipation of this one too. Aztec Prince will not back down but will have it all to do if he is to retain his championship gold. El Sultán, who won a Battle Royal last month, is apparently very unimpressed that his reward is a one in four shot at victory. Monkey Man has already had a chance and is eager to make up for lost time while Entropy is a dangerous floater who will feel that he has not yet been given the opportunity to prove himself under the new regime. This is his opportunity and he will be eager to make the most of it. So that’s quite the starting point, four hungry, rising talents with motivation to fuel them as well as the CILL Mexican Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking) vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze and Wildfire Inferno) – a First Blood Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/1tz1C4p.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/7ybUCDs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h5N1PGE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BQ07Vqp.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/WFFtfcw.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

This one will be physical. It will be brutal, fierce and no quarter will be asked or given. It will also, ultimately, be bloody. There are no better candidates for a match like this than these two duos. They collided last month at the end of The Viking Raiders’ DQ defeat to Rapid Attack. Uhtred and Ragnar are still the champions but, in The Wildfire, they face their toughest challenge yet in the shape of a team who will (apologies in advance) fight fire with fire. Expect violence at the most raw and primal level!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr vs. Wraith</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/pJvdo7n.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/JJBMRDk.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Both these competitors will feel that 2016 has not yet really gotten going for them and while it is too early for such talented men to panic there is a sense that the outcome could be even more crucial for the loser than the winner. Dragón came up short against El Pavo Real last time out while Wraith was just another face in the Battle Royal on the same show. For whoever wins here there’s a chance to turn momentum around and start to push on. For the loser… one quarter of the calendar year will have passed without a victory. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wild Cats (El Jaguar and Tigre Salvaje Jr) vs. Border Patrol II and El Serpiente</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/BrBU7sH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/rIsSyCN.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/pGLNjPz.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/jzbjULu.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/mOOyKfO.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/cV83sLE.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

For an impromptu tag bout this match also has ramifactions for all three teams involved. Rapid Attack have started the year well but it is now important to see how they bounce back from the disappointment of winning the match, but not the titles, in their CILL World Tag Team Championship match at CILL: Love Hurts last month. The Wild Cats are potentially at a crossroads. 2016 has started sluggishly for them as a duo both here in CILL and with CZCW. Conversely both men gave good accounts of themselves in the recent Battle Royal. After over 4 years together there is a sense that these two need something to happen. At the other end of the experience scale we have the thrown together team of Border Patrol II and El Serpiente. Both these youngsters are highly regarded but have struggled to gain traction thus far this year. A victory and we could see them working together far more often in the near future.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Catalina Vazquez vs. Poison Ivy</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/zoLRKRs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/PscsFcy.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Poison Ivy has very openly declared that she should be next in line for a title shot at Estrella Blanca’s CILL Women’s World Championship. Off the back of her pinning the champion in Trios action last month she certainly has a strong case. She gets the chance to underline her credentials against Catalina Vazquez. Vazquez though is a true rising star and she will relish the odds against her. If Poison Ivy is even remotely complacent she could very well be upset here.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Hypnotiq Jr vs. Hush</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/yESFpJE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/eybC1BQ.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

This is another clash between up and comers looking to raise their profile. Hypnotiq Jr and Hush both believe their time is now. For one of this exciting pair, this match may provide the springboard needed to begin their push up the card. There’s no doubting the potential here, now is the time to show it!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Pre-Show</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Daire Messiah vs. Nomad</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/zFLT0U7.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

This pre-show bout will see the Canadian-born Latino Nomad as the next man to step into the ring with Daire Messiah. Nomad, best known for a 2 year run with 4C in Canada almost a decade ago, has followed his ancestral roots back to Mexico and will relish getting a chance to impress here. The unbeaten, maniacal Daire Messiah however will be out to prove once more, “that the pathway to paradise is paved with pain!”</p><p> </p><p>

I've also taken the decision to award DarK_RaideR 1 additional point for his forensic dissection of the QAW roster. It seems fair to me. The prize for whomever has the most points after this show will be one of the following:</p><p> </p><p>

1) Choose a wrestler for a push. Basically I'll work on getting their autopush up one level.</p><p>

or</p><p>

2) Choose a wrestler for an interlude scene (probably with Daire).</p><p>

or</p><p>

3) A revelation about Daire's past and background. This will involve some consultation with me but is something we can work on definitely.</p>

<p>CILL: Defend What Is Yours - Prediction Card</p><p>

1. <strong>Diamante Negro</strong> © w/Antonia Andres Vs. El Pavo Real Vs. Fallen Angel Vs. Magik – a Ladder Match for the CILL World Championship</p><p>

Comment: This one could go either way, but it feels soon for D-Neg to lose and nobody else is fully "there" yet. Besides, the no dq nature of a ladder bout allows Antonia Andres to help, which makes narrative sense and has the other 3 lose with a decent excuse.</p><p>

2. <strong>Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez</strong> Vs. Mystery Team</p><p>

Comment: Hometown girls won't lose this one</p><p>

3. <strong>Aztec Prince</strong> vs. El Sultán vs. Entropy vs. Monkey Man – an elimination match for the CILL Mexican Championship</p><p>

Comment: Don't think Aztec Prince has a reason to lose, especially to any of the other 3. Would hurt his monster heel status too. Monkey Man and Sultan are on a good course and I'm watching closely what will happen with them.</p><p>

4. <strong>The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking)</strong> vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze and Wildfire Inferno) – a First Blood Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</p><p>

Comment: Rage DQ finish -> First Blood finish -> Blow off hard hitting match with a stipulation that can keep the violence going a bit longer before the bell rings.</p><p>

5. <strong>Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr</strong> vs. Wraith</p><p>

Comment: Think Dragon did a little better against Pavo than Wraith did in the Battle Royal</p><p>

6. <strong>Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido)</strong> w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wild Cats (El Jaguar and Tigre Salvaje Jr) vs. Border Patrol II and El Serpiente</p><p>

Comment: Rapid Attack are the best team in this match and need to bounce back from their lukewarm win. Wild Cats haven't impressed enough to get the win, but should provide a decent boost to the match. BP2&Serpiente I'm guessing is a shot in the dark at a potential future tag team, maybe in hopes of tag chemistry</p><p>

7. Catalina Vazquez vs. <strong>Poison Ivy</strong></p><p>

Comment: Tough call. If it's not a cheap win for Ivy, it's probably a draw</p><p>

8. <strong>Hypnotiq Jr</strong> vs. Hush</p><p>

Comment: Hypnotiq can go in the ring. Hush can complain outside the ring. Pretty obvious choice.</p><p>

9. <strong>Daire Messiah</strong> vs. Nomad</p><p>

Comment: Do I get bonus points if I predict Nomad showing up high/wasted?</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions</p><p>

1) Match of the Night (1 point): Main Event</p><p>

2) Performance of the Night (1 point): Amazing Fire Fly</p><p>

3) Who are the two members of the mystery Tag Team in the women's tag team match (2 point for each correct answer): Crackdown (Juana Huracan & Toni Parissi)</p><p> </p><p>

Ah, and I thought my song/wordplay on Hush would win the day <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Big fan of QAW myself so the dissecting came naturally, hope it helps you in any future decisions. Also, seeing the QAW ladies are booked in a tag match, I'm guessing you'll bring a pre-made tag team to take advantage of their experience and since you need a pair of heels, my money's on Crackdown (Juana Huracan & Toni Parissi)</p>

<p>Enjoyed the last show. Daire as the messiah of a new CILL is a good angle, though I'm curious who he would feud with first since he still needs to be built up. Samael the Accuser as a disciple wouldn't be a bad way to go though considering how light you are on tag teams.</p><p> </p><p>

CILL: Defend What Is Yours - Prediction Card</p><p>

1. <strong>Diamante Negro © </strong>w/Antonia Andres Vs. El Pavo Real Vs. Fallen Angel Vs. Magik – a Ladder Match for the CILL World Championship</p><p>

Comment: I think you're still in the process of building up Diamante, and the only one I can really se winning this one other than him is El Pavo.</p><p>

2. <strong>Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez</strong> Vs. Mystery Team</p><p>

Comment: <em>Not a bad way to build up your champ and a future challenger at the same time.</em></p><p>

3. Aztec Prince vs. El Sultán vs. Entropy vs. <strong>Monkey Man</strong> – an elimination match for the CILL Mexican Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>Man, I think you're ready for a title change, and since Monkey Man is doing well despite his mask, why not?</em></p><p>

4.<strong> The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking)</strong> vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze and Wildfire Inferno) – a First Blood Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>I could see you taking the titles off of the Vikings, but I think this is their last chance to prove themselves in a match that should suite them well.</em></p><p>

5. <strong>Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr</strong> vs. Wraith</p><p>

Comment: <em>I think Dragón might be next for Diamante.</em></p><p>

6. <strong>Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido)</strong> w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wild Cats (El Jaguar and Tigre Salvaje Jr) vs. Border Patrol II and El Serpiente</p><p>

Comment: <em>Amazing Fire Fly could use some momentum after a rough past few shows.</em></p><p>

7. Catalina Vazquez vs. <strong>Poison Ivy</strong></p><p>

Comment: <em>Ivy can use some more building up before her title challenge, while it seems like Catalina still has a lot to learn.</em></p><p>

8. <strong>Hypnotiq Jr </strong>vs. Hush</p><p>

Comment: <em>Two complainers, maybe it ends up in a no-contest? I figure Hush has been more a squeky wheel, so time to put him in his place.</em></p><p>

9. <strong>Daire Messiah</strong> vs. Nomad</p><p>

Comment: <em>The building up of the Lucha Messiah continues!</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions</p><p>

1) Match of the Night (1 point): I'll go with the <strong>main event</strong>. More a hedge than anything, but your main eventers should deliver.</p><p>

2) Performance of the Night (1 point): I'll go with <strong>Amazing Fire Fly</strong>. It looks like the match set-up is more suited to him this time.</p><p>

3) Who are the two members of the mystery Tag Team in the women's tag team match (2 point for each correct answer): I'm thinking you'll want an established tag team to deliver the best rating possible that has at least one member that is over in Mexico, so let's go <strong>Pamela Rojo and Hellcat Hernandez, the Anti-Establishment. </strong></p>

<p>1. <strong>Diamante Negro © w/Antonia Andres</strong> Vs. El Pavo Real Vs. Fallen Angel Vs. Magik – a Ladder Match for the CILL World Championship</p><p>

Comment: I'm probably going to keep saying it's too early to take the title off Diamante Negro until the day you do.</p><p>

2. <strong>Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez</strong> Vs. Mystery Team</p><p>

Comment: I'm a reluctant fan of Pinkie Perez - you know she's great, but suspect she's a bit of a bitch? Anyway, I think they'll win here, but if it's much thanks to Pinkie, she would have an argument that she deserves a title shot.</p><p>

3. Aztec Prince vs. El Sultán vs. Entropy vs. <strong>Monkey Man</strong> – an elimination match for the CILL Mexican Championship</p><p>

Comment: While I have a hard time taking Monkey Man seriously, if he was good enough for a shot at the World Championship a while back, he should be good enough for the Mexican Championship.</p><p>

4. <strong>The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking) </strong>vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze and Wildfire Inferno) – a First Blood Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</p><p>

Comment: I would have thought this was the time to move these titles, but the stipulation seem made to suit the vikings, so maybe they keep them a little longer.</p><p>

5. <strong><strong>Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr </strong></strong>vs. Wraith</p><p>

Comment: </p><p>

6. <strong>Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido)</strong> w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wild Cats (El Jaguar and Tigre Salvaje Jr) vs. Border Patrol II and El Serpiente</p><p>

Comment: I think Amazing Fire Fly's good performance earlier has earned him and his team another crack at tag team gold, and to get there, they need to win here.</p><p>

7. Catalina Vazquez vs. <strong>Poison Ivy</strong></p><p>

Comment: </p><p>

8. <strong>Hypnotiq Jr</strong> vs. Hush</p><p>

Comment: </p><p>

9. <strong>Daire Messiah</strong> vs. Nomad</p><p>

Bonus Questions</p><p>

1) Match of the Night (1 point): I think the <strong>main event </strong>is set up to be good.</p><p>

2) Performance of the Night (1 point): I say the champion delivers for you this week. <strong>Diamante Negro.</strong></p><p>

3) Who are the two members of the mystery Tag Team in the women's tag team match (2 point for each correct answer): I think MrWolf101 is right on here. <strong>Pamela Rojo and Hellcat Hernandez, the Anti-Establishment.</strong></p>

<p>CILL: Defend What Is Yours - Pre-show Interlude</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/7ybUCDs.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

In the makeshift office I’ve set up in the bowels of the Merida Resort I hand a pen over to the big man. Uhtred the Viking, the largest person in the CILL locker room and one half of my current Tag Team Champions, takes it from me and leans over the contract. Three more years. Of course, given the nature of the contract, Pay-Per-Appearance, either party can end it at any time. Still, it’s good to have these things signed off on. Uhtred has been here since late 2011 and, while The Viking Raiders have been quite underwhelming thus far in my time with the company, I’m pleased to see him sign upon the dotted line.</p><p> </p><p>

“Gracias Uhtred,” I tell him as we shake hands. He smiles back,</p><p> </p><p>

“Thanks to you Messiah, is good day.”</p><p> </p><p>

Uhtred wonders off to prepare for his upcoming match, a First Blood bout between The Viking Raiders and The Wildfires. I turn back to the booking sheet but I barely have time to sit down before the door bursts open again and somebody else storms inside.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/mOOyKfO.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

It’s Border Patrol II and he appears to be very, very, very angry about something. Unfortunately he is one of the few members of my roster with no English so I understand only a handful of words – he says ‘auto’ a bunch of times, ‘cabrón’ gets a few airings and, worryingly, ‘Magik’ is mentioned a lot. I sigh, shake my head and point at a chair until he sits down and quietens himself. I walk to the door and stick my head into the corridor. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/sWIXfkY.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/OS0e9n1.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Antonia Andres and Jaguar Queen are chatting outside. Perfect! I dispatch Jaguar Queen to find Magik and send him my way and I ask Antonia, who is perfectly bilingual, to join me in the office.</p><p> </p><p>

Antonia translates Border Patrol’s tale of woe and, to be fair, his irritation is far more explicable now. It turns out that Magik took BP’s rental car last night, without permission naturally, because he wanted to go for a burrito. While that alone is the behaviour of an asshole (or even a cabrón) it got worse. Magik, presumably accidentally, reversed into a wall while parking and smashed up the back of it. The biggest issue though is that my malcontent Main Eventer is refusing to pay for it.</p><p> </p><p>

I look from Antonia to Border Patrol and exhale deeply.</p><p> </p><p>

“Tell him I’m gonna sort this,” I urge Antonia who fires off a couple of lines of rapid fire Spanish. Border Patrol gives a curt nod but I can tell he’s waiting to see how this all pans out, if the still newish booker from across the ocean has the stones to stand up to the decorated star, a man with close to a decade in SOTBPW on his resume.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/Gh96Mg8.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

There are a couple of minutes of idle chatter with Antonia while we wait for Magik to arrive. When he eventually enters the room, with the demeanour of a man without a care in the world, he smirks across the table at the rest of us. It annoys me, this is a 40 year old man, he should know better. Still… despite that, I grit my teeth and ask him to give me his version of events. He does so in perfect English. From his point of view it’s all been a big misunderstanding, he borrowed the car, sure there was an accident, it’s hardly up to him to cover it though, the car was in Border Patrol’s name and, besides, the kid has to pay his dues.</p><p> </p><p>

“No offence boss,” he sneers, “you’re a rookie yourself, you don’t know Mexico, you just don’t know how business is done.”</p><p> </p><p>

I slam my fist on the table with a ferocity that startles all three of them (even me a little bit).</p><p> </p><p>

“Bullshit!” I snarl and point my finger at Magik,</p><p> </p><p>

“This is my dressing room now. I’m not going to tolerate that kind of nonsense. I don’t care who you are, I don’t care how long you’ve been here. You’re an adult, you should be setting an example here, not engaging in this puerile, juvenile stupidity.</p><p> </p><p>

Antonia is translating rapidly for Border Patrol who suddenly looks a whole happier. Magik is gazing balefully back at me and opens his mouth to reply but I cut him off and keep going,</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t want to hear it Magik. I really don’t. You’re fined, you’re paying for the damage you caused. Seriously man, get out of my sight, go prepare for your match and have a long, hard think about what you want to give and get here in CILL.”</p><p> </p><p>

He doesn’t say any more, he just nods at me, turns and leaves.</p><p> </p><p>

Border Patrol springs to his feet, shakes my hand fervently,</p><p> </p><p>

“Muchos gracias Messiah,” he practically bounces out of the room. Antonia lingers for a few moments more.</p><p> </p><p>

“You ok,” she asks</p><p> </p><p>

“Yeah, no worries, thanks,” I respond,</p><p> </p><p>

“I’ll see you out there!”</p><p> </p><p>

She’s quite a nice girl Antonia, not very social and a tiny bit full of herself, a nice girl though. I’m happy to have her around. Border Patrol seems a decent kid too, happy enough to start at the bottom and try to work his way up. Magik though… Magik is showing signs that he just might turn into a problem for me.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Daire Messiah vs. Nomad</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/zFLT0U7.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

In a poor pre-show match, Daire Messiah defeated Nomad in 8:36 by pinfall with a High Moral Ground.</p><p> </p><p>

The pre-show got under way with another outing for Irish import Daire Messiah as he sought to gain both experience and momentum while competing on the undercard. Tonight’s opponent was Nomad, a Canadian born Latino best known for his run with 4C almost a decade ago. Messiah is continuing to improve with every match and he dominated this bout. Nomad, unlike Samael the Accuser at the last CILL show, probably didn’t do enough to be considered for more regular work with the promotion here. He will be grateful for the exposure and the pay cheque but it was Daire Messiah who picked up the victory after hitting his High Moral Ground moonsault finisher.</p><p>

<strong>Match Rating: 28</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/BQ07Vqp.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/WFFtfcw.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The Pre-show concluded with The Wildfires making their way to the ring. The veteran pair ahead of their CILL World Tag Championship match tonight, announced that they had reached the decision to take a manager onboard… again. Mercedes Gimenez joined them and announced that she was going to guide their careers once more. The crowd was fairly lukewarm at the proposition it should be noted but it leaves Gimenez with two duos on her client list anyway. Wildfire Inferno has also tweaked his gimmick somewhat, acting as more of a Rebel than a Bad Ass (‘the last anti-hero’ anyone?) and that was above average in it’s execution.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating: 26</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Show Proper</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Mercedes stayed in the ring to get things rolling on camera. Armed with a t-shirt gun and her undeniable and very natural beauty this, as always, was eaten up by the sold-out 1,000 in attendance. It may not be traditional in the Lucha sense of things but it certainly gets things warmed up here. Mercedes is getting better at her Damsel gimmick too.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating: 66</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Hypnotiq Jr vs. Hush</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/yESFpJE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/eybC1BQ.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Hypnotiq Jr defeated Hush in 8:02 by pinfall with a fast roll up. </p><p> </p><p>

Let’s be fair. This one wasn’t necessarily as bad as the Match Rating would have you believe. The pair were trying to tell a story of two competitors trying to take a first big step towards credibility. It was an open match and both were given the opportunity to show what they could do. For the record Hypnotiq brought a little more. Both men took stunt bumps through a table at ringside from the top turnbuckle and the bulk of the match was well-booked. Two things however conspired to ruin this one. First of all the pair just didn’t click as a unit and, as a result, many of their exchanges were awkward. More significantly however was the fact that the CILL crowd clearly view both men as jobbers and watching them compete on the Main Show totally turned the audience off. Given that the show did run slightly over there’s a real sense that this may have worked far better as a dark match. As it is, even allowing for mitigating factors, neither man will look back on the night with much delight though at least for Hypnotiq Jr there was the comfort of a victory.</p><p>

<strong>Match Rating: 11</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Catalina Vazquez vs. Poison Ivy</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/zoLRKRs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/PscsFcy.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

In a decent match, Poison Ivy defeated Catalina Vazquez in 5:50 by pinfall.</p><p> </p><p>

After the debacle of the previous bout this one was a pleasant surprise as Poison Ivy and Catalina Vazquez displayed great chemistry in their short match, clearly designed to prep Ivy for a crack at the CILL Women’s Championship. She was superb here, giving in a performance to match any we’ve seen in CILL this year. Vazquez, for her part, is clearly learning a lot and her skills are improving all the time. In the end this was a decisive victory for Poison Ivy but both women only enhanced their standing in an increasingly competitive Women’s Division.</p><p>

<strong>Match Rating: 46</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Hellcat Hernandez and Pamela Rojo come to the ring and challenge Estrella Blanca and Pinky Perez to a match.</p><p> </p><p>

The visitors from QAW arrived next. The Anti-Establishment made their way to the ring to a decent reception. Rojo in particular was over with the audience and her Arch Competitor gimmick was great here. This didn’t last long. Living up to their name the pair cut a scathing promo, dismissing Lucha Libre and CILL as <em>“a relic to a bygone time that should be allowed to rot in the grave and not wheeled out like a stinking corpse for the amusement of maggots like the people here tonight!”</em> They bigged up their American adventures, heralding QAW as the best place in the world for women wrestlers to be. <em>“The only reason we’ve come back to Mexico,”</em> drawled Rojo, <em>“is to show you just how miserable an experience you’re all actually watching!”</em> From there it was a short step to challenging Pinky Perez and CILL Women’s World Champion Estrella Blanca to a match that would, according to Hernandez, <em>“be so one-sided that it will make the losers happy they can hide their shame behind their stupid gimmicky masks!”</em></p><p>

In a decent match, Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez defeated The Wild Cats (El Jaguar & Tigre Salvaje Jr) and Border Patrol II & El Serpiente in 12:52; the order of elimination was The Wild Cats first, and then Border Patrol II & El Serpiente.</p><p> </p><p>

Rapid Attack proved they are still at the forefront of the Tag Team division in CILL with victory in this enjoyable match. All three teams played their part in this one and all were given the chance to showcase their abilities before it drew to a close. The Wild Cats were, a little surprisingly, the first team to be eliminated. They were, once more, reasonable in all that they did but there can be no denying that 2016 has not started as they would have wished it to either in CILL or CZCW, There’s no doubting their talent but they’ll also be aware that they could use a shot in the arm. The impromptu pairing of El Serpiente and Border Patrol II fared better, only losing out to a sudden pinfall when Amazing Fire Fly landed a crucifix on Border Patrol. BP2 showed enough here to suggest that there is promise, El Serpiente, on the other hand, showed enough to suggest that he will be moving considerably up the card sooner rather than later. He was excellent, actually comfortably outperforming even Rapido, only trailing in behind (and only barely at that) Amazing Fire Fly in the individual performance stakes. AFF was in scintillating form once more here and is clearly still getting better and better. The debate is surely being had in CILL offices regarding how much longer he can be kept out of their Main Event picture.</p><p>

In a decent match, Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr defeated Wraith in 11:32 at two falls to one after winning the first, with the final fall happening by pinfall with a Dragón Driver '07.</p><p> </p><p>

This one was pretty straightforward. Wraith was functional and played his part without ever really threatening to find a top gear and Dragón gave an impressive performance to carry this match to a decent reaction. Dragón picked up the decisive finish to push his momentum forward as CILL look for both challengers to Diamante Negro’s CILL World Championship and try to build stars to carry them forward in the mid to long term. Dragón, while he has plenty to prove yet, will definitely be one of the names in that discussion.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/1tz1C4p.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/7ybUCDs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h5N1PGE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BQ07Vqp.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/WFFtfcw.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

In a decent match, The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar the Viking) defeated The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/ Mercedes Gimenez in a First Blood match in 12:26 when Ragnar the Viking made Wildfire Blaze bleed. The Viking Raiders make defence number 3 of their CILL World Tag Team Championship titles. </p><p> </p><p>

This was every bit as brutal and chaotic as predicted, a wild brawl between two teams seemingly made for such an occasion. Despite this it’s impossible not to feel like the match was a disappointment. There were positives for sure. Wildfire Blaze gave in a pretty impressive showing, Mercedes Gimenez was as good as ever at ringside and both Uhtred the Viking and Wildfire Inferno are getting better at their gimmicks (Crusher and Rebel respectively). That was about the extent of them though. The crowd didn’t really get behind it, they just weren’t hot enough. Both the Vikings were generally uninspiring throughout too (and Wildfire Inferno wasn’t a whole lot better) and this hurt the match. Speaking of hurt both of The Wildfires ended the match injured too. Blaze got a broken nose in the finish and, less forgivably, Ragnar botched a simple arm drag that left Inferno with a strained wrist. While neither injury is particularly serious it certainly didn’t help the match much and has reportedly led to heat backstage for Ragnar too. In the midst of all this it was almost overlooked that The Viking Raiders retained their titles. This match might have been better received in different parts of the world (or even different parts of this show) and it certainly wasn’t a disaster of Hypnotiq Jr/Hush proportions but it’s hard not to feel like it was slightly disappointing.</p><p>

In a decent match, El Sultán defeated Aztec Prince, Entropy and Monkey Man in an Elimination match in 14:05; the order of elimination was Aztec Prince first, then Monkey Man, and finally Entropy. During the match we also had Antonia Andres run in and attack Aztec Prince. El Sultán wins the CILL Mexican Championship title.</p><p> </p><p>

Things picked up again in this Fatal Four Way Elimination match for the CILL Mexican Championship. There wasn’t a huge amount between the quartet of competitors in this one with defending champion Aztec Prince arguably the least impressive and Entropy just pipping El Sultán to Performer of the Match. It was, somewhat appropriately then, the defending champion who was first eliminated when Antonia Andres struck him from behind in the chaos when it appeared that El Sultán was in trouble. It would be El Sultán and Entropy for a finish and, with Andres still lurking around ringside with intent, Entropy was sufficiently distracted that he found himself speared right off the apron and into a conveniently placed merchandise stand. That was enough for the Brazilian El Sultán to pick up the victory and, with it, begin his reign as CILL Mexican Champion. The audience were into this one and were noticeably hotter by the end.</p><p>

Diamante Negro, El Sultán and Antonia Andres are together and make the announcement that they are going to be allies from now on, watching each other’s back. </p><p> </p><p>

El Sultán celebrates with his newly won CILL Mexican Championship and is joined in the ring by Antonia Andres and then, in short order, by CILL World Champion Diamante Negro. El Sultán and D-Negro have, of course, teamed before as Black Gold and they made it very clear that, with Andres in their corner, they intended to gather all the gold they possibly could in CILL. It will be interesting to see how this pairing, currently holding both men’s singles titles in CILL progress from here.</p><p>

In a decent match, Estrella Blanca and Pinky Perez defeated The Anti-Establishment (Hellcat Hernandez & Pamela Rojo) in 12:18 when Pamela Rojo was disqualified while fighting Estrella Blanca.</p><p> </p><p>

This one had a lot of bad blood in it. Blanca and Perez are proud competitors and there’s no doubt that they felt they were defending not just the CILL Women’s Division but Lucha Libre and Mexico as a whole. Hernandez and Rojo, for their part, were out to prove that they were right to turn their back on the old ways and that they can dominate and dismantle those left behind on this side of the border. The match would prove to be the best of the night. The two CILL talents were the better performers with Pinkie, who is clearly still improving, just about shading the champion in terms of quality. Pinkie’s showing was undoubtedly underscored by her taking a tremendous bump when Hernandez powerbombed her through the announce table. Rojo and Hernandez, for their part, were decent but no more in the terms of technical performance but this match was a belter, culminating with the powerbomb mentioned above outside the ring while Rojo was being DQ’d for raking the eyes and choking out CILL Women’s World Champion Estrella Blanca inside. The Anti-Establishment lost the match then but seemed wholly unperturbed by this, gloating and taunting the fans as they left.</p><p>

In a decent match, Diamante Negro defeated El Pavo Real, Fallen Angel and Magik in a Ladder match in 14:22 when Diamante Negro retrieved the item. Diamante Negro makes defence number 2 of his CILL World Championship title.</p><p> </p><p>

There were High Spots aplenty in this Four Man Ladder Match for the CILL World Championship between what is, in practice, the current CILL Main Event scene. Antonia Andres issued yet another reminder of what she can contribute at ringside, making her presence felt more than once to help keep her client Diamante Negro, in control. Negro, for his part, looked quite good here. El Pavo Real will certainly the most impressive on show and, as the youngest of the four, will be strongly placed to carry the promotion forward. Angel was adequate too but, and I take pleasure in saying this, Magik looked off the pace. Not monstrously so I’ll add, the guy can still work, there are definitely going to be more questions now as to the long-term future of this legend of Lucha Libre as the face of a promotion. Diamante Negro eventually got up the ladder to unhook and retain his championship belt again in a match that was certainly good enough to close out this show.</p><p>
