All of this means that the winner of the first Prediction Contest in this diary is MrWolf101! Congrats.</p><p> </p><p>

You may now choose one of the following as your prize and perhaps let me know through PM:</p><p> </p><p>

1) Choose a wrestler for a push. Basically I'll work on getting their autopush up one level.</p><p>

or</p><p>

2) Choose a wrestler for an interlude scene (probably with Daire).</p><p>

or</p><p>

3) A revelation about Daire's past and background. This will involve some consultation with me but is something we can work on definitely.</p><p> </p><p>

PS) For some weird reason my last post, while it updated the thread, left it pinned somewhere on page 3 of this forum. I'm *hoping* this will correct that... <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/confused.png.d4a8e6b6eab0c67698b911fb041c0ed1.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>CILL: Defend What Is Yours - Results</p><p> 1. <strong>Diamante Negro</strong> © w/Antonia Andres Vs. El Pavo Real Vs. Fallen Angel Vs. Magik – a Ladder Match for the CILL World Championship</p><p> Comment: <em>Diamante Negro remains the man at the top but, once more, the Main Event didn't exactly cover themselves in glory. El Pavo Real was the best performer here with Magik, fresh off of causing problems in the back, the most disappointing. The final match result was good but it has to be tempered by the boost it got from the prestige of the Ladder Match and the title.</em></p><p> 2. <strong>Estrella Blanca and Pinkie Perez</strong> Vs. Mystery Team (The Anti-Establishment - Hellcat Hernandez and Pamela Rojo)</p><p> Comment: <em>I was pleased with this. The CILL girls carried it in terms of performance but I feel that it's left me with plenty of options going forward in terms of bringing the visitors back or otherwise. I have a plan for the Women's Division that I feel could carry CILL forward and, at this stage, there's every reason to believe that they deserve a run at carrying a Main Event.</em></p><p> 3. Aztec Prince vs. <strong>El Sultán</strong> vs. Entropy vs. Monkey Man – an elimination match for the CILL Mexican Championship</p><p> Comment: <em>This was a slight shot in the dark as none of these men have had huge opportunities to show how good or bad they are. I discovered that there's not a huge amount between any of them. Entropy's showing was genuinely very, very impressive though and Daire may need to find a story for him. It also allowed a window to establish Black Gold as a going concern who are chasing ALL the title gold.</em></p><p> 4. <strong>The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking and Ragnar the Viking)</strong> vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze and Wildfire Inferno) – a First Blood Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</p><p> Comment: <em>It was busy anyway but this one, ultimately, was disappointing.</em></p><p><em> I'd imagine it was quite the spectacle but two injuries and generally underwhelming performances... neither team particularly stepped up and set a benchmark here.</em></p><p> 5. <strong>Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr</strong> vs. Wraith</p><p> Comment: <em>This one was pretty straightforward. It was effectively created to give Dragón a victory and he looked good in doing so. Wraith, on the other hand, may have just punched his ticket to Lower Midcard purgatory.</em></p><p> 6. <strong>Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido)</strong> w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wild Cats (El Jaguar and Tigre Salvaje Jr) vs. Border Patrol II and El Serpiente</p><p> Comment: <em>The purpose was to keep Rapid Attack ticking over and it did that very well. Amazing Fire Fly shone once more and, less obviously, so did El Serpiente. These two probably gained the most from this. The Wild Cats are just ticking over at present though they are arguably in a more stable position than most of the teams here. Rapido is kinda dependent upon AFF at the moment and Border Patrol II is another who will have to pay his dues.</em></p><p> 7. Catalina Vazquez vs. <strong>Poison Ivy</strong></p><p> Comment: <em>This was definitely the most pleasing surprise of the day. Nobody, me included, expected Poison Ivy to tie with Amazing Fire Fly for performance of the night. Sure she benefited from great chemistry with Vazquez but this was a great outing for her and sets her up well going forward.</em></p><p> 8. <strong>Hypnotiq Jr</strong> vs. Hush</p><p> Comment: <em>This was a disaster. No chemistry and complete crowd indifference in a match between my two most prominent whingers. In hindsight... should have been on the preshow. Neither man showed anything to suggest there are title belts in the near future.</em></p><p> 9. <strong>Daire Messiah</strong> vs. Nomad</p><p> Comment: <em>Messiah actually gave a decent performance here. He's genuinely improving with each outing and his skills took another welcome boost here too. There's every reason to expect to see him transition to the show proper in the next few months. Nomad... unlikely to be seen again to be honest.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="DarK_RaideR" data-cite="DarK_RaideR" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44032" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Aztec Prince</strong> vs. El Sultán vs. Entropy vs. Monkey Man – an elimination match for the CILL Mexican Championship<p> Comment: Don't think Aztec Prince has a reason to lose, especially to any of the other 3. Monkey Man lost a Mexican Championship match my first show. He's become a solid member of the mid card since then but I wouldn't be expecting him to gatecrash the Main Event any time soon.</p>

<p>CILL: Defend What Is Yours - Post-show Interlude</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpg</span></p><p>

In the aftermath of the show I am the last one to leave. Most of the locker room are gone out on the town but that’s never been my scene and, besides, I have plenty to reflect upon. The show was our best yet and the general consensus is that we’re doing as well as could reasonably be expected. Personally I feel like we could and should be doing a little bit better. Our misfiring Main Event is part of what’s holding us back I think and that’s something that will need to be addressed. It can’t happen overnight though, it takes time to build up new people and while I have plans… like I said, these things don’t just happen at the snap of your fingers.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/h5N1PGE.jpg</span></p><p>

More immediately there’s plenty going on anyway. While morale is generally pretty good in the locker room there’s been enough squeaky wheels to keep me busy. The newest challenge has come about off the back of the First Blood match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship tonight. The match was disappointing anyway but I can live with that. The Viking Raiders retained against the Wildfires but the issue is that both of The Wildfires got injured in the course of the match. Wildfire Blaze had his nose broken but that was just one of those things and nobody read much into it. Wildfire Inferno on the other hand spent most of the evening after his own match icing a badly sprained wrist and that was very definitely the fault of Ragnar the Viking. To be fair Ragnar feels awful about it. I like him, it’s easy to forget that he’s still only 23 and a whole lot more timid than his appearance suggests. He’s annoyed with himself primarily and I sympathise with him but, at the same time, the guy messed up.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/WFFtfcw.jpg</span></p><p>

Inferno is annoyed too and you can’t blame him either. Safety is everything in this business and if you can’t trust the person you’re working with then there really isn’t any point in competing. There is a simmering tension between the pair that just won’t disappear overnight. I just hope that it won’t cause any more problems than it has to and, perhaps even more, that it won’t spread any further throughout the roster. Inferno is one of a number of strong characters, of leaders, in the locker room. I feel I can trust him not to make any more of this than is necessary but I’m not a fool, I get that hope is a part of that expectation too. I’m still getting to know these people after all.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/yESFpJE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/eybC1BQ.jpg</span></p><p>

Aside from this new wrinkle and fresh off of taking part in possibly the worst match in CILL history Hypnotiq Jr and Hush are both still unhappy. Hypnotiq is still fuming at having to draw with me two full months ago and Hush finds the time once a week to have a moan about his push. Truth be told I’m getting pretty sick of it.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/h2mj3nB.jpg</span></p><p>

Before I go, I take the time to consult with our list and redraw the pushes for the company. Entropy is the man to take the big step, moving up, at least on paper, to Main Event status. He’s only 26 but showed enough ability tonight that he’s worth taking a chance on and we need some kind of an injection of something fresh. He doesn’t have a word of English so I certainly can’t be accused to favouritism with it anyway!</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span></p><p>

I’m tired now and I decide to head home and try to crash out for a few hours. Tomorrow I can start looking ahead to the next trio of shows. I have some plans now and it’s time to start fleshing them out. As I pick up my bag and head for the door I make a last decision for the day. Pinkie Perez is one of what seems like dozens of bland Fan Favourites in my Tecnico side of the ledger. Perez, going forward, will be booked as a Show Stealer, I feel it fits in better with her personality anyway. She’s allegedly quite tricky to be around and while I haven’t seen it yet I think that this gels somewhat better with her natural vibe.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">CILL: Rampage – Card Preview (Card subject to change)</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Catalina Vazquez Vs. Jaguar Queen Vs. Maribel Mercado</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/zoLRKRs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/OS0e9n1.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/ExZMndu.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

This pre-show bout between the comparative also-rans of the Women’s Division is a chance for all three of these women to begin this new quarter with momentum on their side. The 22-year old Vazquez has yet to win a match but she impressed many, even in defeat, against Poison Ivy last month. Former CILL Women’s World Champion Jaguar Queen hasn’t yet really set the world alight in 2016 but will view this as a prime opportunity to remedy that. Maribel Mercado, for her part, has yet to lose this year but there’s still a sense that she has not yet broken through into the upper echelons of this division. This bout is an opportunity for all involved parties then and it will be fascinating to see which of them takes advantage of it.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>El Sultán w/Antonia Andres vs. Aztec Prince – Lucha Libre Match for CILL Mexican Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/Bs7aELj.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/aeED7i9.jpg</span>w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/sWIXfkY.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/6P2ia5Q.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The show proper will begin with this title bout. El Sultán overcame the odds to win the title at last month’s CILL: Defend What Is Yours. The deposed champion, Aztec Prince, will hope to win back the belt at the first time of asking here. This match, between CILL’s two South American stars, will be fought under Lucha Libre rules. This means the victory will go to the first man to score two falls and means that whichever of this talented pair comes out on top, they will have to earn it.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar The Viking) vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/Mercedes Gimenez – Triple Threat Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/1tz1C4p.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/7ybUCDs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h5N1PGE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BrBU7sH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/rIsSyCN.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span></p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BQ07Vqp.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/WFFtfcw.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Expect chaos in this one. The Viking Raiders have clashed with both these teams already this year and there’s plenty of bad blood built up between the champions and both sets of challengers. The odds are definitely against The Viking Raiders but if any team can overcome such a battle it’s surely Uhtred and Ragnar. Rapid Attack and The Wildfires, both ably managed by Mercedes Gimenez, will surely work together on some level here. Only one team can leave with the titles though and it will be interesting to see how far cooperation can go in this one.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Pinky Perez vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><img alt="E2iyhsg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2iyhsg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Last month’s superb tag team bout pitting Perez and CILL Women’s World Champion Estrella Blanca against Rojo and Hellcat Hernandez ended in chaos with the QAW pair losing the match via DQ. The war continued across social media with Rojo and Hernandez continuing to belittle their opponents, CILL and Lucha Libre as a whole. It comes down to this match then. Should Rojo emerge victorious both she and Hernandez will be signed to permanent contracts and The Anti-Establishment will be able to attempt their goal of running roughshod over the CILL Women’s Division. A win for Pinkie Perez, who has been so impressive even in defeat this year so far, will see Rojo and Hernandez scuttle back over the border and the honour of CILL maintained.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Entropy, Fallen Angel and Magik vs. El Pavo Real, El Serpiente and Monkey Man – Lucha Libre Match</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/h2mj3nB.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/9u99nQO.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Gh96Mg8.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/CltU2Fx.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/cV83sLE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/z6x2foZ.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

This match will give the half dozen men involved a shop window to showcase their undoubted skills. There are no fewer than three former CILL World Champions in the field and each of them (El Pavo Real, Fallen Angel and Magik) will believe that this could be the Launchpad for another charge for the top prize in CILL. Former Mexican Champion Monkey Man and highly-touted rising stars El Serpiente and Entropy may have somewhat more modest short-term goals but they will know that this is an opportunity for them to pick up the biggest scalp of their young careers to date.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Estrella Blanca vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/qlgEhDH.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/eN2Ds5w.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/PscsFcy.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Estrella Blanca has been champion for almost 7 months now and there are few who would disagree with the statement that she has brought prestige and honour to the title. Still only 27, her latest challenge will be against Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy is a former champion in her own right and she comes into this one in fine form after a wonderful display to see off a game Catalina Vazquez last month and pinning the champion in Trios action a month earlier. Both women will give their all here and there’s no doubt that Poison Ivy will do whatever it takes to get back to the top of the mountain.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Diamante Negro w/Antonia Andres vs. Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr – for the CILL World Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/ooQf8Jm.jpg</span><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/5hODxYj.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/sWIXfkY.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/pJvdo7n.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

D-Neg has been impossible to stop so far this year, defeating Magik to win the title, beating Fallen Angel the following month and coming out on top in a demanding 4-way Ladder Match at the last CILL show. The next person to take a crack at unseating the World Champion is Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr. Dragón, a former FCW member and a three time CILL Mexican Champion, feels that the time is right for him to break through and gatecrash the Main Event scene and bring glory to the mask first made famous by his father. He looked good seeing off Wraith in his last outing but there’s no doubt that it will be the greatest moment of his career if he can emerge victorious in this one.</p><p> </p><p>

Comment: Wouldn't surprise me if Mercado took the belt soon. </p><p>

<strong>El Sultán </strong>vs. Aztec Prince – Lucha Libre Match for CILL Mexican Championship</p><p>

Comment: Sultan's too far high up on the card to lose here. </p><p>

Comment: Will be interesting to see how the dynamics play out. I think the Raiders retain, but this kicks off a Wildfires/Rapid Attack fued. </p><p>

Pinky Perez vs. <strong>Pamela Rojo</strong> – I Quit Match</p><p>

Comment: I think this'll kill Rojo's momentum if she loses here, so she'll taske a cheap win over Pinky here.</p><p>

Entropy, Fallen Angel and Magik vs. <strong>El Pavo Real, El Serpiente and Monkey Man</strong> – Lucha Libre Match</p><p>

Comment: Triple threat to get the young guys over. </p><p>

<strong>Estrella Blanca</strong> vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship</p><p>

Comment: I think the challenger will be a heel, so Blanca holds onto the strap for now.</p><p>

Diamante Negro vs. <strong>Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr</strong> – for the CILL World Championship</p><p>

Comment: More wish fulfillment here -- I think Arco Iris is the far superior champion, and a high-spots match will give you better ratings, something Dragon can pull off well. </p><p> </p><p>

<p>Catalina Vazquez Vs. Jaguar Queen Vs. <strong>Maribel Mercado</strong></p><p>

Comment: <em>I think you've most likely given up on Jaguar Queen (rightly so), while Catalina is still learning. Maribel can use the win to insert herself into the mid-tier of the Women's division.</em></p><p>

<strong>El Sultán </strong>vs. Aztec Prince – Lucha Libre Match for CILL Mexican Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>Black Gold is getting established, so the champ retains here.</em></p><p>

The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar The Viking) vs. <strong>Rapid Attack</strong> (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/Mercedes Gimenez – Triple Threat Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>Ah, this is a tough one. I think you are ready to move on from the Vikings, at least as tag champs. I think Mercedes representing two teams is going to play into this somehow, but Rapid Attack are probably the most deserving of the win due to Fire Fly's performances.</em></p><p>

<strong>Pinky Perez </strong>vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match</p><p>

Comment: <em>That stipulation gives me pause, as I could see Rojo and Hernandez coming in to be the next challengers to Blanca's title. At the same time, I think Perez can use this win to be that next challenger, so I'll go with her and keep my fingers crossed.</em></p><p>

Entropy, Fallen Angel and Magik vs. <strong>El Pavo Real, El Serpiente and Monkey Man</strong> – Lucha Libre Match</p><p>

Comment: <em>Man, I think you want to get Entropy a big win, but at the same time, I think you want to keep building up the three técnicos.</em></p><p>

<strong>Estrella Blanca </strong>vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>I'm picking this a match of the night. I could see Ivy winning, but at the same time, I think a Blanca/Perez feud is in the cards.</em></p><p>

<strong>Diamante Negro</strong> vs. Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr – for the CILL World Championship</p><p>

Comment: <em>Diamante should have a nice, long run with the title to make whoever finally beats him for it CILL's new star. I don't think that is Dragón.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions (1 point each)</p><p>

1) Best performer of the night: Let's go <strong>Pinky Perez</strong>, though I'm not sure if the match type suits her.</p><p>

2) Best match of the night: <strong>Blanca vs Ivy</strong>, sense a theme? <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

3) Worst performer of the night: Well, Hypnotiq Jr and Hush aren't on the card, so I'll go one of the Vikings, let's say <strong>Uhtred</strong>.</p><p>

4) Worst match of the night: Is the <strong>pre-show match</strong> an option? I have to go with that one then.</p>

CILL: Rampage – Prediction Card

Catalina Vazquez Vs. Jaguar Queen Vs. Maribel Mercado

Comment: I'd like to see Vasquez win as she's a good investment, but the top of your women's division is pretty solid already, especially on the tecnico side and with the Anti-Establishment coming in, Vasquez can still lay low and learn before she's pushed. On the contrary, there's a greater need for someone who can bridge the gap between top and bottom female stars and I think Maribel could be just that

El Sultán vs. Aztec Prince – Lucha Libre Match for CILL Mexican Championship

Comment: Sticking with the man I got right out of that rumble, Sultan has a lot of upside and he's not losing yet. Not so soon after winning and not to Aztec Prince again of all people.

The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar The Viking) vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/Mercedes Gimenez – Triple Threat Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship

Comment:I'm guessing the two teams under Gimenez work together, then things implode, Vikings take advantage of it to retain while everyone looks strong. That way the Vikings have two tecnico teams to feud with and keep things un-repetitive until it's time for Rapid Attack's coronation

Pinky Perez vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match

Comment: I'm guessing Rojo wins and Anti-Establishment invade CILL

Entropy, Fallen Angel and Magik vs. El Pavo Real, El Serpiente and Monkey Man – Lucha Libre Match

Comment: Entropy got moved up to Main Event status, so he needs the win more than he can live with the pin. El Serpiente is the weakest link to eat it.

Estrella Blanca vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship

Comment: Estrella is an amazing worker and the face of the CILL women's division. I predict she'll hold on to the strap, then feud with Rojo&Hernandez for it in a pretty hot storyline

Diamante Negro vs. Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr – for the CILL World Championship

Comment: Negro retains for now

<strong>Pinky Perez</strong> vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match</p><p>

Comment: I don't recall that Rojo has a particularly impressive submission game, so I think they are on about equal footing there. Rojo could get outside help, otherwise I see Pinky taking this, building her momentum even further.</p><p>

<strong>Estrella Blanca</strong> vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship</p><p>

Once I was one… now I have found my first disciple, I have found a man who took a beating from me, who embraced the hurt and came through it to find understanding and solace amidst the gloom and despair! That man is Samael the Accuser!” The Accuser, last seen losing to Messiah on the pre-show at CILL: Love Hurts, came to the ring and falls to his knees before Daire Messiah. The big man accepted a blessing from Messiah, the two embraced, Samael announced (in Spanish this time thankfully) that he had seen the light in the darkness and was here to spread the message. Mercado was the best performer here and a deserving winner. Vazquez was reasonable enough also and is definitely still a name for the future. On the other hand Jaguar Queen disappointed again and the former CILL Women’s World Champion has yet to really prove herself this year. The crowd got hotter as this one went on. El Sultán was not to be denied though. His performance was a step above that of his young Chilean opponent and, ably aided by the always alluring Antonia Andres, the Brazilian would ultimately emerge victorious in an enjoyable encounter that got the crowd hotter when his manager distracted the challenger. Aztec Prince’s performance, while slightly disappointing, should be measured against the fact that it emerged afterwards that he suffered a distracted thigh muscle during the bout.</p></div></blockquote><p> <strong>Match Rating: 43</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="E2iyhsg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2iyhsg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> Pamela Rojo was back out in front of a hostile CILL crowd again next, not that she seemed particularly bothered. In fact the QAW performer seemed intent on goading the audience as she heaped scorn upon them, Lucha Libre in general, CILL and, especially, Pinkie Perez. Rojo spelled it out that she was putting everything on the line in this one. Defeat would mean that The Anti-Establishment were gone from CILL. “That’s not going to happen though. One on one, I am going to make Pinkie Perez tap out and prove, once and for all, that the new breed of superstar are ahead of anything this tired old relic of a promotion can offer”. The crowd, understandably, got hotter here and Rojo’s Arch Competitor gimmick was great, she was very convincing as the invader intent on proving her superiority.</p><p> <strong>Angle Rating: 42</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar The Viking) vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/Mercedes Gimenez – Triple Threat Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/1tz1C4p.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/7ybUCDs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h5N1PGE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BrBU7sH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/rIsSyCN.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span></p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BQ07Vqp.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/WFFtfcw.jpg</span> w/<span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44032" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>In a decent match, Rapid Attack defeated The Viking Raiders and The Wildfires in 15:32; the order of elimination was The Wildfires first, and then The Viking Raiders. The crowd were buzzing but there’s also no doubt that the overbooked nature of the contest didn’t exactly thrill the audience either. Both of the Vikings were subpar again and Wildfire Inferno was little better. Rapido and Wildfire Blaze were both good but it was, as is becoming the norm, Amazing Fire Fly who stole the show here. There was no doubt that the chaos of the match didn’t suit the high flyer but he was still a step ahead of everybody. The match was open and each of the teams was given a chance to impress. The defending champions managed to reduce the odds against them when they eliminated The Wildfires but ultimately they just couldn’t keep Rapid Attack grounded this time and the titles passed back to the young team managed by Mercedes Gimenez once more.</p></div></blockquote><p> <strong>Match Rating: 39</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Pinky Perez vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><img alt="E2iyhsg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2iyhsg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44032" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>In a decent match, Pamela Rojo defeated Pinky Perez in an I Quit match in 11:35 by submission after interference from Hellcat Hernandez.</em><p> </p><p> This was a big disappointment and much of the blame will have to be placed upon the bookers rather the performers themselves. This I Quit match was a wild brawl and, coming on the back of the barely organised chaos of the previous match, it was too much. It’s not the kind of match that suits the extremely talented Pinkie Perez either though she still gave a decent performance. This contest was even enough until Hellcat Hernandez made an appearance, taking advantage of Pamela Rojo taking the referee’s attention away long enough for Hernandez to spear Perez off the apron and through the crowd barrier. From there it was a simple matter for Rojo to lock in a cloverleaf in the middle of the ring and, though she fought it, Pinkie Perez had no option but to tap out. The Anti-Establishment are here to stay. Both Hernandez and Pinkie Perez adapted their gimmicks (Punk and Show Stealer respectively) and both these were received extremely well by those in attendance. It was a long way from a disaster but it would be fair to say that only of the six really advanced themselves. The pacing was slow, there was a lot of story being told in this one and even with the crowd properly hot by now it felt, ever so slightly, like a let-down. Entropy, earmarked for a big push in the next few months, was given the crucial pinfall here but was decidedly average and a long way from what we know he’s capable of. He was at an almost identical level to his partners in this one. For Fallen Angel and, in particular, Magik this was another missed opportunity to stake a claim. On the Rudo side Monkey Man disappointed somewhat and certainly won’t be breaking out of the midcard based on this one. Somebody who might is El Serpiente. He was the best performer in this one and there’s a very real sense that he is on the edge of something. Certainly it will not have hurt his cause to have shone brighter than three former CILL World Champions. The last of these, El Pavo Real, was the second strongest performer in this one but was clearly off form and a long way from the levels we all know he’s capable of. CILL: Rampage – Results

CILL: Rampage – Results

Catalina Vazquez Vs. Jaguar Queen Vs. Maribel Mercado

Comment: Out of these three Mercado is definitely in the best place to carve out a place for herself on the card proper. Vazquez is young and will have to bide her time and Jaguar Queen (former CILL Women's World Champion or not) has been a huge disappointment so far. 80% of people were right on the money with this one. It was fine for a pre-show match but hardly groundbreaking.

El Sultán w/Antonia Andres vs. Aztec Prince – Lucha Libre Match for CILL Mexican Championship

Comment: El Sultán, as most expected, retained here. This is not the end of the road for Aztec Prince by any stretch. He's young enough and has shown enough that he'll have other opportunities down the road but for now he's back in amidst the shuffle for a while at least. El Sultán, between this title and Black Gold, has a couple of irons in the fire and should have chances to put down a marker over the next few months. Neither man hurt their prospects in this one which was decent and certainly up to standard.

The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar The Viking) vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/Mercedes Gimenez – Triple Threat Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship

Comment: I would have dearly liked to book The Viking Raiders as dominant champions. They just haven't been getting it done though. I don't want to write them off and Ragnar in particular has time on his side but they need to start proving themselves. The Wildfires haven't exactly set the world alight either so it was an easy enough decision to give the belts back to Rapid Attack. Amazing Fire Fly may outgrow this division sooner rather than later but, for now, this is a window for him to develop within. I kinda set 40 as the number in my head as the minimum expectation. This didn't reach that standard. The Wild Cats probably gained more from this match, without even being on the card, than either of the losing duos.

Pinky Perez vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match

Comment: Another disappointment from bell to bell which did sting, particularly as this match was meant to kick off a key angle for the women's division going forward. In part I have to carry the can for this as I placed the match badly. I knew it wouldn't suit Perez but I gambled that she had enough class to do alright anyway. She did to be fair but the match itself was a letdown and not the official onboarding I envisaged for The Anti-Establishment.

Entropy, Fallen Angel and Magik vs. El Pavo Real, El Serpiente and Monkey Man – Lucha Libre Match

Comment: This just about cleared my 'acceptable' bar but, given the men involved, I would have liked to see a little more from it. The CILL calls for one 'storytelling' match per show and this was the unlucky one chosen for this show (it feels cheap and gamey to just bury it on the pre-show every time). It existed primarily to begin elevating Entropy to the Main Event. It kinda did that in that he outperformed the three other Main Event talents. El Serpiente was the biggest winner here though. Based on this performance...

he will need to be found an angle sooner rather than later.

Estrella Blanca vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship

Comment: Blanca retains again, Ivy puts in a decent showing too and shows a more tecnico side of herself at the end. The angle bombed (as expected), the match was the best of the night. Another feather in the cap of our Women's Division and a decent night's work for both these competitors.

Diamante Negro w/Antonia Andres vs. Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr – for the CILL World Championship

Comment: D-Neg is still on top of the pile in a match that was quite good but narrowly pipped by the semi-main as best of the night. D-Neg proved again that he might be a better speaker than he is a wrestler at this point in his career but he's certainly not been shown up since he dethroned Magik either.

The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar The Viking) vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/Mercedes Gimenez – Triple Threat Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship

Comment: Will be interesting to see how the dynamics play out. I think the Raiders retain, but this kicks off a Wildfires/Rapid Attack feud.

I could see Gimenez's teams colliding at some point definitely. Probably not just yet though as I've just turned The Wildfires.

Pinky Perez vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match

Comment: I think this'll kill Rojo's momentum if she loses here, so she'll take a cheap win over Pinky here.

You called this right though I hoped that people would have pause for thought as to whether The Anti-Establishment had signed up or were just visiting via the alliance.

Worst match of the night: Perez/Rojo

I though this was an odd choice. It was not. Second worst match of the night. Good call sir, good call! :)

Catalina Vazquez Vs. Jaguar Queen Vs. Maribel Mercado

Comment: I think you've most likely given up on Jaguar Queen (rightly so), while Catalina is still learning. Maribel can use the win to insert herself into the mid-tier of the Women's division.

I haven't given up on Jaguar Queen but, as the lowest performer in an expanding division, she's probably gonna have to get used to being booked less often and spending a lot of time looking at the lights when she is!

Estrella Blanca vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship

Comment: I'm picking this a match of the night. I could see Ivy winning, but at the same time, I think a Blanca/Perez feud is in the cards.

Good call on match of the night. Some night I'll give the girls the actual Main Event! :p

Diamante Negro vs. Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr – for the CILL World Championship

Comment: Diamante should have a nice, long run with the title to make whoever finally beats him for it CILL's new star. I don't think that is Dragón.

Yeah I don't know how serious a challenger Dragón could really have been considered. He could and should develop into one in time but it won't be a short-term elevation.

This might have actually made more sense than what I did. :o I think I just felt that Rapid Attack are too 'tecnico' to be acting like Rudos and The Wildfires turned too recently for me to have them acting shady still (I think I may have overthought it though).

Pinky Perez vs. Pamela Rojo – I Quit Match

Comment: I'm guessing Rojo wins and Anti-Establishment invade CILL

I can confirm... the invasion has begun! :p

100% right on the thinking with Entropy. El Serpiente being the top performer was a serious statement of intent though!

The Viking Raiders (Uhtred the Viking & Ragnar The Viking) vs. Rapid Attack (Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) w/Mercedes Gimenez vs. The Wildfires (Wildfire Blaze & Wildfire Inferno) w/Mercedes Gimenez – Triple Threat Match for the CILL World Tag Team Championship

Comment: I think you could hold off longer, but it's time to get the belts on your best tag team.

That was the thinking. The belts need worthy champions.

Estrella Blanca vs. Poison Ivy – for the CILL World Women’s Championship

Comment: I *could* see Poison Ive be a transitional champion eventually so Blanca andPinky doesn't have to go tecnico vs tecnico (unless you turn Pinky heel like she was meant to ;)), but I don't think it happens here.

As long as Pinky behaves (and she has so far) I won't be rushing to turn her! Never say never though. :D

Worst match of the night: Opener. Not even Maribel can save that one I feel.

Expert analysis doctor!

<p>CILL: Rampage - The Aftermath</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

I can’t sleep after the show. Another night staring at the ceiling in the clammy heat. Another night remembering the past and all that I have lost. Tonight has the added bonus of picking over the carcass of the show. General reaction to it was still very positive. Personally… I kinda think it was a missed opportunity and it varied between acceptable and somewhere on the wrong side of barely average. And it was all going so well before the bell rang.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BQ07Vqp.jpg</span><p>

<img alt="aAnGu7T.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aAnGu7T.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="E2iyhsg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2iyhsg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>http://i.imgur.com/7S1IalA.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Mercedes Gimenez and Wildfire Blaze had signed new contracts and the locker room was bolstered by the permanent returns of Hellcat Hernandez, Pamela Rojo and Samael the Accuser. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="LdMTMQh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LdMTMQh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>http://i.imgur.com/M8e6apx.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Another interesting wrinkle comes with the news that OLLIE have come to a parting of ways with Purple Viper. El Maestro suggests that maybe we could look at bringing her in. It’s definitely worth considering though, as we’re operating at a loss at the moment and I have the next few months pretty much set, it won’t happen in the very short-term. That’s not the wrinkle. The wrinkle is when Pinkie Perez announces, with an infuriating shrug, that she’s been signed by OLLIE to replace her. It’s a PPA deal so we’ll still get to use her. In general terms I’m actually quite pleased to see our people getting other work. Pinkie is already very good and more experience will only accelerate her progress into truly outstanding territory. There’s just something about her. She’s behaved since I’ve arrived, I’m just waiting for her fuse to blow though. Now that she’ll have a regular gig with a much bigger group in OLLIE it might not take much for her to take her ball and go home permanently.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/zoLRKRs.jpg</span><img alt="E2iyhsg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E2iyhsg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Today though, all is pretty harmonious in the back. I introduced young Catalina Vazquez to Pamela Rojo and there’s an instant bond formed there. By the time we were ready for Catalina to get out there for her dark match there’s a genuine friendship being formed and I’m delighted to see it. Pamela, at 32, wouldn’t like me to describe her as a veteran but she’s a pretty decent role model for any youngster in this business, being humble, driven and optimistic.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/zoLRKRs.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/ExZMndu.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Catalina for her part is such a positive personality too and she’s infectious. As I walked in today she was juggling with Maribel Mercado. In the midst of their chatter it emerged that they share a love of circus skills, Catalina having attended ‘Circus Camp’ one summer when she was a teenager and Maribel actually having a grandfather who was a clown for years. It was impossible not to laugh and get swept up in the sheer joy of the moment.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/pJvdo7n.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h2mj3nB.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BQ07Vqp.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

I was brought back down to earth pretty quickly when I was told that we were still waiting for Dragon Del Arco Iris Jr. (who of course had a World Championship match ahead of him) and Entropy to arrive (Entropy’s Main Event push also slated to start with this show of course). It’s an hour before they got there and at that point, to be fair, Wildfire Blaze pulled them aside to find out what’s gone on. He came to me after and explained. Dragon had been an hour late to pick up Entropy. Blaze has instructed to pay for Entropy’s meals for the next three shows and Dragon, apparently, has taken it on the chin. I’m happy enough to hear that and won’t carry a grudge at my end either. I actually like Dragon and I think he could have a role to play here yet.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/M8e6apx.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/hLujxJb.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5ckdT0Y.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

As for the show itself… I don’t know, I’m glad that perception is that we’re doing well. I just feel that we should be doing better. We haven’t really pushed on and closes the gap on EMLL, let alone OLLIE and, four months in, we’re still losing money with every show. The current story arc will play out over the next couple of months and, at that point, it will be back to the drawing board I feel as I try and plot a way forward for both me and CILL. Here’s to the future, here’s to getting a decent night’s sleep.</p><p> </p><p>

Ahhh, it's little details like Catalina having gone to circus camp and Maribel's grandfather having been a clown that really gives the characters in a diary the feel of actual human beings, instead of numbers & pictures in a video game. Great stuff, I love it!

El Maestro was over earlier and it was the usual routine. He worked his way through a six-pack of beer, watched the girls around the pool while offering advice about my own catatonic love life and we talked about the various goings on with all things CILL. He’s a nice man and has plenty of interesting anecdotes about the near 30 years he spent with OLLIE. His optimism, while not quite all-powerful enough to lift me out of my lingering funk, is still pretty infectious.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/5hODxYj.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> The first business point that we found ourselves covering over is new contracts. No fewer than four of our roster had contracts up for renewal. El Maestro has left it up to me to make the decisions on them. Diamante Negro was the first. He’s 39 years old now and, given my reservations about the health of our Main Event scene, there was some consideration given to letting him go. Ultimately though, he’s done well enough (and is my World Champion) that I think he deserved the new deal that he happily signed off on to keep him with us, presumably, for another few years at least.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="n0aDVDR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/n0aDVDR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> The second one was trickier. Mateo Iglesias is our road agent and somebody who knows El Maestro from his own sojurn in OLLIE. Mateo does good work but it doesn’t come cheap. It crossed my mind that there has to be cheaper alternatives out there or even that I could get some of the roster to double up. Ultimately though Mateo is a strong locker room leader and, while we have several who meet that description, that and his generally positive demeanour are reasons enough that I’ve committed to paying him $1,700 a show for the next few years.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/cV83sLE.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> El Serpiente was next on the renewals list. It was an easy decision for me. Despite the unfortunate mishap where he hid Monkey Man’s mask at our first show the guy is loaded with potential. His performance at CILL: Rampage alone was worth the cost of his new deal. Amazing Fire Fly aside, El Serpiente is the guy who I think is best placed to rocket up the card in the next few years.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/FRnhXc1.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> That means of course that there’s one person who is not going to getting their deal renewed. I’m not going to tell them until after our next show, CILL: Pathway to Hell. Nature of the business right? When some come aboard, others have to make way.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/5ckdT0Y.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> Speaking of CILL: Pathway to Hell I’ve spun out my latest idea to El Maestro and he’s very much on board. At the following show (which will be our second Supershow) CILL: The End Times Arrive, Diamante Negro is going to defend his title in what I’m calling a Pentagram match. Basically, 5 men competing for his CILL World Championship, possibly in a cage and/or a 5 sided ring depending on the budget. The extra twist is that, in addition to the winner walking away with the title, the loser will have their contract with CILL terminated. So at CILL: Pathway to Hell we’re going to have 4 qualifier matches to choose the men who will take part in the Pentagram match itself the following month.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/CltU2Fx.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> My boss raised another curious point sometime around his fifth beer. He thinks (and he’s absolutely right to be fair) that Pinkie Perez has lost weight and is looking rather skinny. I don’t know what’s behind this change. Maybe she’s got something going on, maybe it’s the pressure of her signing up with OLLIE as well as us. I don’t know and I’m not going to ask. I still have a weird sense that she’s basically a bomb waiting to go off but, for now at least, things have been quiet with her and I’m not going to rock that boat.</p><p> On the subject of body change my trips to the gym have also made me privy to the fact that El Pavo Real looks to have lost a lot of the toned definition that he had before. He still looks pretty average so it’s not a crisis by any stretch but something that I’ve noticed anyway. He still looks better than I do to give the guy his due. </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="rIXJf67.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rIXJf67.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8LmV7lb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8LmV7lb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> The moon is up by now and it’s starting to get a little bit colder. Not cold like I was used to in Ireland I’ll grant you but by the standards I’m used to here. Still I sit there for a while and find myself thinking of Alana again. Maybe I should call. Or at least send her a message or an email. It’s been months, I could justify sending an email right? I take out my phone and steel myself. I have no idea what I really want to say. The phone vibrates and takes me by surprise. I almost drop it. It’s a message from Joe (Ireland’s biggest CILL fan) with a link to an article about up and coming talents. It’s in Spanish which is no trouble to him because his family moved out there when he was still in his teens. </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/h2mj3nB.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> I have to use Google translate to make it clear to me that Entropy is the man being hyped to the moon. I’m pleased to see it. Entropy is a guy that I have expectations for too and it’s nice to see that I’m not the only one who recognises his potential. I take that as some sort of a victory. I put the phone away, stand up, look out into the gathering darkness and decide that it’s time for bed.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="kingjames" data-cite="kingjames" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44032" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Ahhh, it's little details like Catalina having gone to circus camp and Maribel's grandfather having been a clown that really gives the characters in a diary the feel of actual human beings, instead of numbers & pictures in a video game. Great stuff, I love it!</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The girls were noted as having bonded before CILL: Rampage and I try to use all of those things as ammunition for story. Catalina is just so pleasant looking (and such a positive influence) that it made sense to me that something as wholesome as an actual circus camp could have happened in her youth (it's probably where she learned to tumble as well). Maribel? She's spunkier and (to me at least) somebody that I would imagine has plenty of interesting anecdotes about her family - a William Regal commentary programme come to life!</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, the card for the next show should follow along here pretty soon. In the meantime you can ponder who is the poor unfortunate who looks set to be the first casualty of the Daire Byrnes/Messiah era in CILL. Also I'm very pleased with the concept of the Pentagram match, high stakes indeed for the winner and loser.</p><p> </p><p> Also big thank to the talented Willr0ck for the images of Joe and Alana. As they've both become important supporting cast in the narrative of this it's kinda cool to have pictures of them. By chance the two real life people that they're kinda based on are both fluent Spanish speakers (indeed, real life Alana speaks four languages) who could arguably make a more immediate impact than CILL than I ever could. Time will tell. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p>

El Pavo Real, for his part, will take confidence from the fact that he’s already pinned his opponent once this year and he will view this as step one towards a third reign as World Champion.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/h2mj3nB.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/JJBMRDk.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Entropy Vs. Wraith</strong></p></div><p></p><p> Entropy scored the crucial fall in 3-on-3 action at the last show and will enter this match with a palpable sense of destiny building behind him. There is no denying his ability, his endeavour or his fortitude. Against the unpredictable Wraith this may not be enough. Wraith, mysterious in all that he does, hasn’t been seen a whole lot this year. A win against Entropy though and he would certainly have arrived.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9u99nQO.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Fallen Angel Vs. Daire Messiah</strong></p></div><p></p><p> This just might be the most interesting of the four qualifying matches. It’s certainly the most image appropriate. With the hellish apparition of the Pentagram match almost visible in the distance it seems apt that the purity and hope of Fallen Angel meets the dark, chaotic leader of the Salvation Cult. Fallen Angel, as a two time former CILL World Champion, will start this one as favourite but only a fool would write off Daire Messiah.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/Gh96Mg8.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/cV83sLE.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Magik Vs. El Serpiente</strong></p></div><p></p><p> This is another fascinating clash. Magik, the decorated veteran, will have to dig down deep into his wealth of experience and ability if he’s to craft another glorious chapter in his distinguished career. It would take a brave punter to bet against him though. That being said, standing in his way is a young man whose career is definitely on the up. El Serpiente has impressed everybody looking on with his performances this year and there seems little doubt that he will break out at some point. This match will go some way towards establishing if that will happen in the short-term or the mid-term.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/qlgEhDH.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/eN2Ds5w.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5zvieYR.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Estrella Blanca Vs. Pinkie Perez – CILL Women’s World Championship title match</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> This match has been building all year long. Blanca and Perez have gone a long way to putting the CILL Women’s Division on a level just as high as the men, with excellent performances over the last 6 months. Both these women fight fiercely and fairly and this match, slated to take the Main Event slot, is keenly anticipated as one that should be amongst the best ever in the history of CILL.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <em><strong>CILL: Pathway to Hell – Predictions Card</strong></em></p><p><em> Maribel Mercado Vs. <p>Great stuff as always. The personal voice really gives the diary a unique feel. I like seeing the every day events passing by, directly or indirectly affecting your company. It's almost a soothing feeling.</p><p> </p><p>

CILL: Pathway to Hell – Predictions Card</p><p>

<strong>Maribel Mercado</strong> Vs. Jaguar Queen (pre-show)</p><p>

Comments: I don't see Jaguar Queen having much purpose other than to build up the ones around her at this point. Would surprise the hell out of me if she won against Maribel.</p><p>

<strong>Fallen Angel</strong> Vs. Daire Messiah – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: Normally I could easily see you putting yourself over Fallen Angel, but qualifying for a match where one wrestler is shown the door, I could see Fallen Angel be the sacrificial lamb.</p><p>

<strong>Entropy </strong>Vs. Wraith – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: Wraith is a bit of a wild card, but I think he at most puts up a good fight. I think Entropy belongs in the Pentagram match, and is a strong contender to win it.</p><p>

The Wildcats Vs. <strong>Black Gold</strong></p><p>

Comments: Two big names form a tag team to capture all the gold. Unless that story is a red herring, I think they need to win this qualifier.</p><p>

Dragon Del Arco Aris Vs. <strong>El Pavo Real</strong> – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: Really not sure what's happening here. Dragon could get one back on El Pavo Real here, but I'm getting the impression that you're starting to see the quality in El Pavo Real.</p><p>

Magik Vs. <strong>El Serpiente </strong>– Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: Put over the next generation, or lend Magik's cred to the opponents in the Pentagram match? I don't know what's the better idea, but I'll go with the future.</p><p>

Estrella Blanca Vs. <strong>Pinkie Perez</strong> – CILL Women’s World Championship title match</p><p>

Comments: No knock on Estrella Blanca, but I believe the top title should be on the top performer.</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions (1 point each):</p><p>

Best match of the night: Main event</p><p>

Best performer of the night: Pinky Perez</p><p>

Worst match of the night: Mercado v Jaguar Queen</p>

<p>I love that the Women's division is getting the main event (I think they've definitely earned it). How great would it be if that match ends up being the highest rated so far? <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Maribel Mercado</strong> Vs. Jaguar Queen (pre-show)</p><p>

Comments: <em>Jaguar Queen could very well be on the way out, while the storyline with Maribel sounds promising.</em></p><p>

<strong>Fallen Angel</strong> Vs. Daire Messiah – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>Fallen Angel could also be the wrestler being released, but I'm not sure. I think Daire can benefit from losing, and doing so would give him a story to get on the main card.</em></p><p>

<strong>Entropy</strong> Vs. Wraith – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>Entropy is my pick to win the Pentagram match, so I kind of have to pick him here. </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

The Wildcats Vs. <strong>Black Gold</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Black Gold needs to continue to look strong. I'm think Rapid Attack come to the rescue of a post-match attack on the Wildcats.</em></p><p>

Dragon Del Arco Aris Vs. <strong>El Pavo Real</strong> – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>Pavo is a darkhorse for the wrestler being released, and I like the idea of having all the veterans in the match along with Entropy so that when Entropy wins, he should get a big boost out of it.</em></p><p>

Magik Vs. <strong>El Serpiente</strong> – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>So, this is kind of going against would I said for the last match. One question, is the person not being resigned different from the person who will be fired for losing the Pentagram match? I think it is, and I think you've gotten as much out of Magik as you can and it's time to move on. Having him put over a rising Serpiente is a good way to do that.</em></p><p>

Estrella Blanca <strong>Vs.</strong> Pinkie Perez – CILL Women’s World Championship title match</p><p>

Comments: <em>Not sure if picking a draw counts for getting a point, but I'm thinking the Anti-Establishment is going to ruin this one to earn themselves some mega-heat.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions (1 point each):</p><p>

Best match of the night: <strong>Blance vs Perez,</strong> this will be interesting to see because I think so far the main events haven't been the highest rated matches of the night. I would think this one would be, but maybe the tag match surprises.</p><p>

Best performer of the night: Let's go <strong>Pinkie Perez</strong>, since Fire Fly isn't on the card.</p><p>

Worst match of the night: Has to be the <strong>pre-show match</strong>, right? Otherwise, I have to think that if anyone other than Jaguar Queen puts in the worst performance of the night, they have to be on the chopping block.</p>

<p><strong>Maribel Mercado</strong> Vs. Jaguar Queen (pre-show)</p><p>

Comments:<em>Could go either way, Jag Queen is an okay talent, but I think Mercado deserves the win more.</em></p><p>

<strong>Fallen Angel</strong> Vs. Daire Messiah – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>Angel should win, he's just somebody who I think should be in the match. Funnily enough, he'd also be my favourite to be pinned and let go</em></p><p>

<strong>Entropy</strong> Vs. Wraith – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>Surely the low standing Wraith isn't getting in the match</em></p><p>

The Wildcats Vs. <strong>Black Gold</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>I though Diamante Negro was the man who was gonna get pinned in the Pentagon match and you were gonna unload some of his pop to the wildcats but after recently resigning him I doubt you do that</em></p><p>

Dragon Del Arco Aris Vs. <strong>El Pavo Real </strong>– Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>Probably my favourite to win the title if he gets in, Arco is great and in my opinion could easily get in this match also but El Pavo, if anybody, is my favorite to win the title in the match</em></p><p>

<strong>Magik</strong> Vs. El Serpiente – Pentagon Match Qualifier</p><p>

Comments: <em>I like Serpiente but I feel like his standing even after beating Magik still wouldn't be enough for him not to job in the main match and you don't want to lose him. Magik on the other hand is a main eventer that is my second favourite to be let go. Old, not that talented and easily replaceable.</em></p><p>

<strong>Estrella Blanca</strong> Vs. Pinkie Perez – CILL Women’s World Championship title match</p><p>

Comments: <em>I.... I can't pick Pinky here. She's sure to cause you trouble sooner rather than later and although I understand putting the belt on your best talent is always a good option, I think Estrella can hold onto it for another while until Pinky shows she can behave for an extended period of time.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Best match of the night: <em><strong>Blanca v Pinky.</strong></em><em> Can't see any other match beating it.</em></p><p>

Best performer of the night: <em><strong>Pinky</strong></em><em> wins when AFF ain't on the card.</em></p><p>

Worst match of the night: <em><strong>Angel v Messiah.</strong></em><em> I can't see this being that great, Angel is only a decent talent and Messiah is not over yet.</em></p>

CILL: Pathway to Hell – Predictions Card

Maribel Mercado Vs. Jaguar Queen (pre-show)

Comments: JQ is only still around because you need a female jobber

Fallen Angel Vs. Daire Messiah – Pentagon Match Qualifier

Comments: Daire needs the win to establish his cult and I'm pretty sure Samael will help him. Don't think he's that over yet though, so I'll go with a DQ win for Angel

Entropy Vs. Wraith – Pentagon Match Qualifier

Comments: Don't think Wraith is anything special so far, while Entropy is on the rise. Participating in the Pentagon match is just what he needs to establish himself, a safe step forward before the big 1 on 1 matches

The Wildcats Vs. Black Gold

Comments: Black Gold win and proceed to lose to Rapid Attack, making them look credible. Hopefully this sets up a Negro-Sultan match waaaaay down the line, with the seeds planted here

Dragon Del Arco Aris Vs. El Pavo Real – Pentagon Match Qualifier

Comments: Dragon still needs time to grow, Pavo's starpower is a must have in the Pentagram match

Magik Vs. El Serpiente – Pentagon Match Qualifier

Comments: I think Serpiente can live with a loss here, especialy to a star like Magik. The veteran will add his starpower to the big match and I predict he'll be the one pinned and fired, as his performance, attitude and paycheck don't seem to add up.

Estrella Blanca Vs. Pinkie Perez – CILL Women’s World Championship title match

Comments: I think you're not yet 100% sold on Perez to put the title on her, especially after signing up with OLLIE. I'm guessing we might see Anti-Establishment pop up here to ruin an otherwise perfect main event, thus gaining a lot of heat with the Mexican crowd for their lack of respect.

Bonus Questions (1 point each):

Best match of the night: Main event, Blanca vs Perez

Best performer of the night: Estrella Blanca

Worst match of the night: Jaguar Queen vs Mercado

<p>CILL: Pathway To Hell – Before the show</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9xOOJfA.jpg</span><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/h5N1PGE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/WFFtfcw.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>“Alright guys, come in and sit down,”</em> I say while gesturing to two of the empty chairs in my impromptu office. Ragnar The Viking and Wildfire Inferno make their way in uncertainly. There’s been a simmering tension between these two ever since CILL: Defend What Is Yours in March when Ragnar made a complete mess of a move in a tag team match that was equal parts brutal and sloppy throughout. Ever since then Inferno has been quite annoyed and Ragnar has been embarrassed and angry with himself. Neither of them are bad guys and I don’t want this to linger so I’ve decided to take a more direct approach to the situation. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/sWIXfkY.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Antonia Andres is here again in her usual role as interpreter. Ragnar has passable English but Inferno’s English is probably worse than my Spanish and as I’m still struggling even to order food that’s saying something.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“I’m just going to lay a few things out here and I want you both to listen to me. We’re all on the same team here. What happened happened. We can’t go back and undo it,”</em> I turn to Ragnar,</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“You messed up. You know that. You don’t need me to tell you. This can not become a habit if you want to keep working here. I like you and I don’t want anything to happen. I get that you feel awful about this but it’s no good telling me that,”</em> I gesture to Inferno, <em>“you need to tell him!”</em></p><p> </p><p>

My attention turns to Wildfire Inferno and I continue,</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“I fully understand that you’re pissed off about this. It’s understandable. It shouldn’t have happened. Cut the kid a break though, he’s 23 years old and he’s learning. It was a strained wrist not a broken neck. We need to get past this. You’re one of my leaders here and I’m glad to have you a part of the team. This needs to be knocked on the head. I don’t want you two skulking around my dressing room glowering at you.”</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>“Glowering?”</em> enquires Antonia as I clearly stretch the boundaries of just what I can expect from even the English speakers of my roster (I'm quite impressed she understood skulking though).</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“Like glaring, angry looks,”</em> I supply.</p><p> </p><p>

She rattles off another stream of rapid Spanish and the two men look from her, to me, to each other. Wildfire Inferno offers his hand. Ragnar takes it gratefully and, after a moment, the big blonde pulls the older man into a rough embrace. I allow myself a discreet sigh of relief. Success. I lead the two men to the door and they’re laughing and sharing a joke by the time they get there. This is good.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="n0aDVDR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/n0aDVDR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Mateo Iglesias is waiting outside and, for an outgoing, positive guy, he looks stressed out.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“You alright Mateo?”</em> I enquire, <em>“cómo estás?”</em></p><p> </p><p>

He grimaces and looks uncomfortable.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“We can talk?”</em> he asks me in reasonably certain English.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“Of course,”</em> I gesture for him to step inside, <em>“do you want Antonia to stay and translate?”</em></p><p> </p><p>

He looks at her and shakes his head,</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“No need. Is maybe better private.” </em>She takes her cue and leaves with a smile. Beautiful girl, there’s no denying that. Just reminds me of Alana. I turn back to Mateo, glad of the distraction. The gratitude doesn’t last long once he starts talking.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“I have meetings with the talent yes? To talk about matches. All is good. Almost all is good I mean. When I talk to El Serpiente…”</em></p><p> </p><p>

I interrupt, I shouldn’t I know but I can’t help it,</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“El Serpiente! What the hell has he done now? So help me if he’s pulling these so called pranks again…”</em></p><p> </p><p>

Mateo shakes his head frantically.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/cV83sLE.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Gh96Mg8.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>“No, no, no Messiah! Is not Serpiente. He listens good. Problem is not Serpiente. Problem is Magik. Magik never turn up for meeting.”</em></p><p> </p><p>

I swear. Loudly and colourfully in several languages. What the absolute hell is Magik playing at? The expression on my face seems to have unnerved the usually unflappable Mateo.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“Find him. Tell him to get his ass in here now.”</em></p><p> </p><p>

Mateo nods and leaves. I return to swearing. I add pacing to the formula. I am absolutely livid. First the nonsense with Border Patrol’s rental car and now this. From a decorated, experienced veteran who is earning $1,100 a show from us. By the time he finally arrives and strolls in without knocking I’m about ready to snap. He moves towards a chair.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“Don’t sit down,”</em> I tell him, <em>“this won’t take long.”</em></p><p> </p><p>

He looks taken aback and opens his mouth to say something but I don’t wait for him to start,</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“No, shut up. I don’t want to hear anything from you just yet. It seems to me that we’ve had this conversation before. You have the same obligations and responsibilities as anybody else here. In fact, as a supposed star, as a supposed legend in this industry I expect more from you. I expect you to pass on your experience and to set an example. What I don’t expect from you is that you’ll skip out on your Road Agent meetings. You’re in the semi-main tonight, what makes you think you can blow off a meeting like that? Where were you?”</em> I demand.</p><p> </p><p>

Magik has stood there in a mixture of sullenness and surprise for the duration of my rant. He flushes slightly now and mutters,</p><p> </p><p>

<em>“I was tanning.”</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>“TANNING! Are you serious? I’m supposed to be the rookie here, not you. You are a 40 year old man who, for some unfathomable reason, is acting like a teenager. I’m sick, sore and tired of this nonsense. I don’t have the time or the inclination to micro manage you. You’re supposed to be an adult. You’d do well to remember that from time to time. Just like the last time you pulled this sort of crap I am fining you. Take it on the chin and deal with it. Now get out of my sight, find Mateo and El Serpiente, apologise to them for being an asshole and work on your match.”</em></p><p> </p><p>

He leaves without a word and I settle for kicking a chair in frustration. If resolving the Ragnar and Inferno situation was a victory (and it was), this is definitely not. Surely the night can only get better from here?</p><p> </p><p>

Lucha Review – CILL: Pathway to Hell

Date: Saturday, Week 2, May 2016

Venue: Merida Resort (South Eastern Mexico)

Attendance: 1,000 (SELL OUT!)

Announce Team: Victor Fernandez and El Maestro

Referee: Esteban Ferrer

There were high hopes amongst the CILL faithful that this show, the precursor to next month’s mid-year blow-off CILL: The End Times Arrive, would represent a significant step forward. Under the stewardship of Daire Byrnes/Daire Messiah’s booking CILL have been busy and inventive this year. There is a sense that, sometimes, they may be guilty of pushing the boundaries of traditional Lucha Libre a little bit too far for their audience but, as long as they’re filling the Merida Resort, it’s difficult to get a real handle on their progress thus far in 2016.

The Pre-show

http://i.imgur.com/OS0e9n1.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/oo6E28C.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/ExZMndu.jpg

Jaguar Queen Vs. Maribel Mercado

The only match on the pre-show was between these two Rudos from the Women’s Division. Mercado appears to be on the edge of transitioning towards the Tecnico ranks but she still showed plenty of nastiness in this one as she dominated the former CILL Women’s Champion for the 9’59 that elapsed before Esteban Ferrer stopped the match. Jaguar Queen had to be helped to the back after the beating she endured. Neither woman excelled in this contest, the crowd didn’t seem to know who to cheer for, the slow pacing seemed to hold them both back and, not for the first time this year, Jaguar Queen seemed sluggish and off her game.

Match Rating: 25

Mercado stayed in the ring after the bout and cut a promo. Addressing the audience, she confessed to cutting corners from time to time but asked that her desire to win not be confused with a disrespect for the traditions of Mexican wrestling. She acknowledges that she spent 4 years in QAW and how that company was important “not only in my development but for a lot of Mexican wrestlers, women like Hellcat Hernandez and Pamela Rojo sure but also competitors like Teresa Perez and me!” Mercado emphasises that she’s at home now and she’s proud to be a part of CILL. She wishes Jaguar Queen a speedy recovery (appearing to be be sincere) and then leaves the ring. This was a decent segment, not amazing but right on the cusp of being good and it will only serve Maribel Mercado well that the booking team know that she can talk.

Angle Rating: 39

The Show Proper

http://i.imgur.com/hFduz82.jpg

Mercedes Gimenez got the show underway, extolling the virtues of the official event programme and running down the card of the night. This break from tradition, heavily dependent on the sex appeal of Gimenez, has been an unqualified success for CILL and is becoming a popular and regular opening to their show. Gimenez is a beautiful woman and, on a night when neither of the teams that she manages was booked to appear, it says a lot for her standing on the roster that she still made an appearance.

Pentagram Match Qualifier – Fallen Angel Vs. Daire Messiah

The Pentagram Match is an interesting concept for sure and, given the religious overtones to it, these two were a natural choice to take part in the first qualifier. This bout went 9’14 and ended in DQ when Samael the Accuser ran in and joined his leader in The Salvation Cult in putting the boots to the former 2-time CILL World Champion. The match itself was adequate and no more than that. For Fallen Angel it was a disappointment, his worst match of the year so far and about the only consolation for him is that he booked his spot in the big match next month. For Messiah, it was his best match and individual performance so far, his first appearance on the show proper. For him this was not a bad night’s work, even in defeat. It’s worth noting as well that there was very little between the pair from bell to bell regarding quality of performance.

Match Rating: 37

http://i.imgur.com/9u99nQO.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/Eif7tnr.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/7S1IalA.jpg

As Fallen Angel celebrated his victory in muted fashion The Salvation Cult came back in and hammered him down. This wasn’t particularly well received by the capacity crowd, The Salvation Cult are a long way from being over yet and, accordingly, it was inevitable that there was a certain amount of indifference from those watching. The big plus here was that Daire Messiah is absolutely brilliant at his gimmick, he is utterly, utterly convincing as the quasi-spiritual prophet with visions of chaos and darkness that drive him. If CILL can get him over with the audience, if he picks up some Spanish and if his in-ring work picks up even a little he could prove an unlikely success story here in Mexico. He won’t be including this angle in his highlight reel though.

Angle Rating: 16

Pentagram Match Qualifier – Entropy Vs. Wraith

This one was straightforward enough and I don’t think that the result would have surprised many. Entropy is hotly tipped to be the breakout star of 2016 for CILL and, against a Wraith who is still rather lost in the shuffle (as are Border Patrol, Hush and Hypnotiq – none of whom were booked tonight) he emerged a decisive victor via pinfall a little before the 10 minute mark. Entropy did hit the standards CILL would want from a Main Eventer tonight. He wasn’t quite excellent but he was good enough certainly and it will be interesting to see how next month plays out for him, particularly given that his match quality has been dipping slightly show-on-show throughout the year. The crowd got hotter off the back of this one too which set things up nicely ahead of the next segment.

Pinkie Perez was next with a mic in her hand, talking through her Main Event match tonight against Estrella Blanca for the CILL Women’s World Championship. Perez spoke about “the great pride I feel, not just for Estrella and myself but for everybody who has helped to put Women’s wrestling in a position to Main Event shows. Tonight will be a statement for all that is great about CILL”. Perez, who recently signed to also compete for OLLIE is well able to speak and, even appearing slightly unmotivated and lacking the toned definition we’re used to seeing physically, she delivered the goods here.

The Wild Cats (El Jaguar & Tigre Salvaje Jr) Vs. Black Gold (Diamante Negro & El Sultán) w/Antonia Andres

This is where things got good. The set-up was simple enough. Black Gold, already holding the CILL World Championship and the CILL Mexican Championship in singles competition, have an eye on Rapid Attack’s CILL World Tag Team Championship to complete the set. A win tonight was to set that goal in motion. It was an open match and all four men played their part in an exciting bout.

With Black Gold turning the screw and Sultán seemingly closing in on victory Aztec Prince emerged at the top of the rank, making loud proclamations about getting back his Mexican Championship. Sultán wasn’t distracted for long but it doesn’t take long and, against a pairing as savvy as The Wild Cats, that’s all it takes. The clock was at 12’34 when Tigre rolled up the CILL Mexican Champion to put his team in the driving seat in the race for an opportunity at Rapid Attack. The Wild Cats were good here and should be capable of having a real crack at the Tag Team belts. Black Gold were excellent and, as it would turn out, Diamante Negro entered the performance of the night. The CILL World Champion stepping up just before what will perhaps be the biggest match of the year for him and the whole promotion.

Pentagram Match Qualifier - Dragón Del Arco Iris Jr Vs. El Pavo Real

This was another very enjoyable bout that went 12’05 before El Pavo Real booked his place in next month’s Pentagram match after hitting his Thousand Eye Thunder finisher. In a match full of high spots Dragón looked particularly in his element and he was every bit the equal of his more illustrious foe in a match where both men enhanced their standing with a fine bout. These men had an equally impressive outing at the first show of the year in February at CILL: Love Hurts. Based on that and today there’s got to be every expectation that both these men will have a role to play going forward. Both man need gimmicks examined before taking the next step. El Pavo Real, at 35, may no longer be a perfect match with his Cocky Youth angle and Dragón is just one of several average looking Fan Favourites who may need to inject a little flavour to the mix. The raw materials are all in place for both men anyway.

Pentagram Match Qualifier – Magik Vs. El Serpiente

It took 13’03 of competitive action before the experienced Magik reached down deep and pulled a surprise cradle out of his bag of tricks to book the last place in the Pentagram Match. Even in defeat there’s an argument to be made that El Serpiente has only improved his standing in the company and, for Magik, the victory keeps him hot and in a position to try and capture the CILL World Championship once more next month. From a story point of view CILL got this one right. The action in the ring however was a little disappointing. Magik flattered to deceive once more and looked, at best, barely average. El Serpiente was the better in ring performer in this one but he’s had much better days in the last few months himself. It wasn’t a disaster but nobody, from the men involved to those watching to the CILL backstage team, will remember this in the long-term as anything other than a minor problem.

Estrella Blanca © Vs. Pinkie Perez – CILL Women’s World Championship

And so to the Main Event. This was being billed as a huge moment for Luchadora Wrestling, not just in CILL but for Mexico as a whole. The stage was well set, the crowd was hot and ready to go. These two women have been a success story this year and this was to be their moment of arrival. It wasn’t. This wasn’t a complete flop but it was a HUGE disappointment. It was the worst match on the card proper and that is a huge letdown to all involved. For 12’45 these two battled and nothing went as it should have. Pinkie Perez was marginally the better of the two but she was clearly off her game. The crowd seemed confused somewhat by the Tecnico/Tecnico composition of this bout (like the other women’s match on the pre-show in reverse). Understandably both women set out to steal the show but rather than rising to the occasion as would have been hoped they both seemed diminished by the responsibility and this effected the quality of the match too. Finally there was the finish… in the US this may not have been such a big deal but this traditional, Mexican crowd want a clean finish to their title bouts. They didn’t get one. The Anti-Establishment rushed the ring and decimated both champion and challenger leaving referee Esteban Ferrer with no option but to throw out the bout. This match is, sad to say, the biggest disappointment of the year so far for CILL.

The show ended with The Anti-Establishment continuing their assault. Hellcat Hernandez and Pamela Rojo were fresh and took full advantage of their tired rivals, systematically and methodically dismantling their foes and taking great pleasure in doing so. These sorts of angles don’t really fly in CILL and, while vastly superior to The Salvation Cult run in earlier, this was not the glorious finale to CILL: Pathway to Hell that the company would have wanted.

Jaguar Queen (pre-show)</p><p> <em>Everybody called this right which didn't come as much of a surprise. Jaguar Queen has had chances. She just hasn't proven herself at all. I'm honestly a bit surprised that she had a run with the title at all before I arrived in Mexico. The match was poor but, buried on the pre-show and with a Storytelling focus that didn't surprise me much either. Maribel's promo was a minor pleasant surprise. I use 40 as kinda a benchmark for decent showings at the moment and she pulled a 39. Overall... not a bad day's work for her.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Fallen Angel</strong> Vs. Daire Messiah – Pentagram Match Qualifier</p><p> <em>This was one where both men would have had very different feelings at the end. For Fallen Angel, who actually won, there was another lacklustre performance. He turned 40 as well recently and there must be a worry that he's more Fallen Stock at this point. For Messiah, even in defeat, it was best individual performance yet, first time on the card proper, a good night all round. The beatdown angle was a mess but it served some purpose in making The Salvation Cult something. </em><em><strong>DarK_RaideR</strong></em><em> called this perfectly.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Entropy</strong> Vs. Wraith – Pentagram Match Qualifier</p><p> <em>Another that was easy enough to predict and for Entropy, at least, a performance sufficient to suggest that he might justify his push. Wraith? Still part of the anonymous Lower Card at the moment with the likes of Border Patrol, Hush and Hypnotiq.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>The Wildcats</strong> Vs. Black Gold</p><p> <em>Best match of the night and one that I'm pleased with because I think it swerved the audience somewhat but still made sense and all four men gained something. The Wildcats are now in a position to stake a claim for the Tag Titles, Sultan has a natural next challenger (albeit a slightly uninspiring choice in Aztec Prince) and, as it happens, Diamante Negro stepped up and entered a Champion's performance before arguably the biggest match of my tenure.</em></p><p> </p><p> Dragon Del Arco Aris Vs. <strong>El Pavo Real</strong> – Pentagram Match Qualifier</p><p> <em>Another good match between two guys who have probably done enough to deserve a little more than they've actually gotten thus far. For El Pavo there's the Pentagram Match to look forward to anyway. Dragon... well he's still only 30 and if I can figure out something for him to do I think he has as good a chance of progressing as anybody.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Magik</strong> Vs. El Serpiente – Pentagram Match Qualifier</p><p> Disappointing match. Magik was particularly poor and, coupled with the latest problems with him before the show, he's wearing my nerves a little. El Serpiente was short of the magic 40 in this one too but, as the junior man in this one, he's considerably less culpable. The set up was to show Serp as being competitive but for Magik to pull it out the bag by virtue of experience. Not what I was hoping for though.</p><p> </p><p> Estrella Blanca <strong>Vs.</strong> Pinkie Perez – CILL Women’s World Championship title match</p><p> A HUGE disappointment. Worst match on the Main Card - I did not see that coming! From a narrative point of view it could actually work out well. The girls were given a big opportunity and dropped the ball badly, how will they react to that? Part of that is one me due to the match ending and the Tecnico/Tecnico clash. However from a storyline point of view it made perfect sense. What's on them is their own poor form and I'm not carrying the can because they diminished under the pressure of trying to steal the show. Were this real life though I imagine the fallout from this disaster would have raged long and loud on the internet. On another point (and in the name of confession) there should have been a third person running with the Anti-Establishment. They were signed well in advance... I just forgot to book them. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Bonus Questions</strong></p><p> Best match of the night: The Wild Cats Vs.
