Figurehead + World Title

Recommended Posts

I love the figurehead concept in this version of the game.

I currently have Sting as my figurehead in my 1992 game. Attendances are up 11% when he appears and merchandise 40%.

Which brings me to my question. He is the undoubted recommended choice by the game and has held the world title for 10 months now...I want him to drop the belt to Vader at Starrcade - but would this just be detrimental to my company?

Vader is one of the top three heels in my company and I want to make him the main heel guy. He doesn't have the figurehead stats of Sting and never will. But at the same time, I don't want Sting to keep the title "forever". :D

How do other players juggle the world title and their figureheads? I don't want the title to be welded around Sting's waist - but it seems bad business sense to hurt my company by taking the belt from him.

Thoughts?

Hogan has been my figurehead for quite sometime but I've had him drop the title off and on. Merch and attendance goes up and down by 3% top, I always book Hogan strong though.

I look at the figurehead as someone who is consistently in the World Title picture, even if he doesn't have it. With that said, I plan on changing figure heads in 1991 (in 89 now) to have Bret Hart take it over or Ric Flair

It won't hurt the company to take the title off him. As long as Vader cheats to win and Sting is kept strong, his pop loss will be minor. Austin has been my figurehead in my 97 save and he has dropped the belt five times in two years, and he's never been champion for more than three months. I'm still beating WCW, his pop has never dropped below 98, and it's easy to get that back up by keeping him winning without the belt and partaking in good angles.

Some very useful insight. Thanks guys.

Vader will become the new champion at Starrcade for sure!!! <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I'm at quite the crossroads with my figurehead now. I'm using the 1998 mod and using WCW. It's October 1999 right now and Hogan is still my figurehead. I got into a huge bidding war with the WWF to keep Chris Jericho with the intention of making him my new figurehead but I'm hesitant for a few reasons.

- Jericho still utilizes the "cruiserweight" style and I don't really want my figurehead using that. I wish we could encourage workers to change their styles.

- Hogan still has plenty of gas in the tank and is a main focus in my stories and company. He hasn't held the title for over a year and I don't plan on him winning the title any time soon, but he's still in probably the top two storylines going on.

- Jericho is not planned to win the title at all for the remainder of 1999. I suppose there's a chance he could be winning the title right around the time he will officially take over the figurehead role in 2000. I just have too many other guys I want to get the title on first and I'm still trying like hell to get the title on Bret Hart before the end of the year.

- Hogan still draws better than Jericho would and is better for merchandise.

It has no bearing on match ratings or anything, so it's purely an aesthetic thing as far as the player goes.

The only thing you have to consider when deciding on the Figurehead of the company is what it says when you scroll through your Figurehead list (your main eventers actually). If it says Jericho is going to be fine (very few negatives), then you can switch to him. However, I'm really wondering how much SQ and pop the guy has compared to who should still be on your roster at this point. He's probably going to have a ton of negatives from those, excluding pop as you can fix that. Those pops can only be fixed by jacking his SQ and Charisma up or dumping a lot of talent that have higher of either.

Jericho is someone you can give World Title runs to, but he was never...EVER (had to do that) the Figurehead. But his cruiserweight style doesn't matter.

It's the same reason I always struggle with pushing Rey Mysterio in the main event. I could never book Rey to beat guys like Goldberg or Steiner and feel like I'm being realistic. Same reason I don't immediately go out and sign up all the Indy darlings to written deals. I go after people I think WCW would've realistically gone after post 2001.

However, I'm really wondering how much SQ and pop the guy has compared to who should still be on your roster at this point. I was forgetting something else when talking about Jericho and this is it. He's not even in my top five list when you look in the National battle stats. I'll have to go in and see if any of his stats have changed. I booked him in a feud over Hogan and his popularity had skyrocketed the last part of 1998, so he's stayed at an A popularity rating. I'll have to wait and see who gets put in the list after some other guys retire, but right now my top five are;

- Goldberg

- Hogan

- Sting

- Savage

- Scott Steiner
