Alex Wright, AJ Styles and Cash all have the opportunity to earn a spot at Starrcade here, and all three men give it everything they've got and leave it all in the ring. After a highly competitive match, the finish comes when Big Smooth gets involved in the match, hitting a devastating powerslam on Alex Wright and then taking AJ Styles out with a gorilla press slam. Cash then picks up the scraps left to him by his bodyguard as he hits the Dead Level on Alex Wright and picks up the one-two-three.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Cash defeated Alex Wright and AJ Styles at 11.28 by pinfall when Cash pinned Alex Wright with a Dead Level after Big Smooth got involved. Gene asks Kidman about the match at Starrcade now that it is official that his challengers will be Chavo Guerrero Jr., Shannon Moore and Cash. Kidman says that it doesn't really matter who his opponents are because he knew it was going to be tough either way. As Kanyon drops the mic and he and Bigelow stare each other down, Tony Schiavone hypes up the fact that Chris Kanyon and Bam Bam Bigelow will go one on one in just two weeks time at the biggest show of the year; Starrcade. <strong>©</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="YiAV5xv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YiAV5xv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="epiwJ9r.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/epiwJ9r.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tjPJopW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tjPJopW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> We cut to the back where Totally Buff are preparing for their huge six man tag team match later tonight--albeit in their own unique way by admiring themselves in the mirror--when Kevin Nash walks in and things immediately get tense. Nash says that they haven't always seen eye to eye but tonight is not about that and he can put it aside, but he's expecting them to carry their own weight out there. Luger seems respectful here, agreeing with Nash to put their past issues behind them, but while Buff also agrees, he adds that it's probably easier for them to be the bigger men since they came out ahead during their "issues". Buff taps the Tag Team Title belt wrapped around his waist for added effect, just in case Nash (or the fans, for that matter) had forgotten that Totally Buff, with the help of Jeff Jarrett, screwed Kevin Nash and Randy Savage out of the Tag Team Titles a while back. Nash just nods his head slowly, then turns and leaves and Totally Buff go back to admiring themselves while Tony Schiavone quickly hypes up the fact that Nash and Totally Buff will team up later tonight to take on Booker T, Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo in six man tag team action. <strong>(B)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="apBZcci.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/apBZcci.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />vs.<img alt="NBNbcUS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NBNbcUS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Jamie Knoble goes one on one with "The Franchise" Shane Douglas next and it is a solid match that sees "The Franchise" dominate most of it, but Knoble never stops fighting back, leading to Mike Tenay noting that one of these days Knoble's heart and his never-say-die attitude are going to lead to great things for him and his career. Brian Adams does the talking for KroniK here, telling Jarrett that they are all about breaking necks and cashing checks, so as long as Jarrett's got the money, he's got nothing to worry about. After regrouping on the floor, "Big Sexy" re-enters the ring and manages to take control the match as he catches Chuck Palumbo with a knee and immediately follows up with some huge punches. With control established, "Buff Daddy" slaps Nash on the back to tag in, which Nash's doesn't approve of at all, but Buff reminds him that he's the Tag Team Champion, not Nash, so he knows what he's doing. This, of course, leads to Palumbo fighting back and making the tag to Booker T, who not only takes down Buff, but nails Nash and Luger in the corner as well. Things finally break down completely, and amidst the chaos, while Buff and Luger are battling O'Haire and Palumbo outside the ring, Nash lands a low blow on Booker T, then quickly hits the Jackknife Powerbomb to pick up a huge victory here on Nitro.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Kevin Nash and Totally Buff defeated Booker T, Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo at 12.12 by pinfall when Nash pinned Booker following a Jackknife Powerbomb after first hitting a low blow (B)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> After the match we swing by the announce table where Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Bobby Heenan are talking about what just went down. Page says that everything he has done to Rey is Rey's own fault, as well as the fault of each and every single one of the fickle fans who turned their backs on DDP.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="qnDHH19.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/qnDHH19.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Page is so wrapped up in his promo that he spots Rey Misterio Jr. too late as Rey sprints down to the ring and attacks Page! Apparently Hawk has been abusing painkillers for a while and the effects of that abuse were clearly visible during his appearance on Nitro. This situation alone was enough to give management cause for concern, but Hawk decided to make an even worse first night back impression after the show when he badmouthed the Cruiserweight Champion, Billy Kidman, claiming that Kidman just didn't connect with the fans. Despite the fact that plans were obviously in place for Hawk to wrestle alongside Animal and Hugh Morrus at Starrcade, we can now confirm that <strong>WCW has officially released Road Warrior Hawk from his contract.</strong> Hawk is said to have been signed under a pay-per-appearance deal, so releasing him wasn't too much of a hassle financially. That said, there are rumors that plans were in place for the Road Warriors to have a run as a tag team in WCW in early 2002, but obviously those plans have now changed.</p><p> </p><p> Ric Flair also caused some problems backstage when he decided to mock Cash for what Flair perceived as a lack of a push for the young cruiserweight. talent. Flair was given a slap on the wrist and nothing more came of the situation.</p><p> </p><p> Ending things on a brighter note, rumor has it that WCW recently made a new signing. While it couldn't be called a major signing, it looks like the cruiserweight division is about to get some new blood in the very near future.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

Just wanted to give a quick heads-up and let you know that Nitro will be going up soon. There are a few regulars who have yet to predict so I'm giving you guys a bit more time to get your predictions in <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

In addition to being an exciting preview of the match at Starrcade, this is also a solid opening match with plenty of back and forth action, as well as a few exciting high-risk moves off the top rope. The trio then switch gears to focus on the rest of the show, especially the huge main event which features four of the biggest stars in the business today as the WCW World Champion, Sting, teams up with Booker T to take on "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner and "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash. Mike Tenay points out that Sting will defend the World Title against Scott Steiner this Sunday at Starrcade, where Booker T and Kevin Nash will finally go one on one as well, which means that tonight's main event is one heck of a preview of Starrcade. Bobby Heenan doesn't share their disgust, however, as he claims that Page is just doing what he has to do, which is the way this business works. Once in the ring, Jarrett gets on the mic and he tells Randy Savage to make sure to take his time and enjoy himself tonight because tonight is his last ever Monday Nitro before his retirement from professional wrestling at Starrcade. Tony notes that Jarrett is only this cocky and confident tonight because he knows that Eric Bischoff has banned Randy Savage from putting his hands on Jarrett before Starrcade or else he'll lose his World Title opportunity. Jarrett claims that he is the rightful World Heavyweight Champion and that after he retires Randy Savage at Starrcade, he'll be back in the hunt to regain his title, and he doesn't care if it's Sting, Scott Steiner or someone else entirely because in the end it won't mean a damn thing because no one can hold a candle to "The Chosen One"! Tony Schiavone notes that what Jarrett said is true to a certain extent, which is to say that tonight could be Savage's last Monday Nitro because he will be forced to retire if he loses to Jarrett this Sunday at Starrcade. Savage joins Jarrett in the ring and it's obvious from the expression on Savage's face that he is only just barely able to keep himself from attacking Jarrett, and that he is doing everything he can to restrain himself. Savage says that it all comes down to Sunday night and Starrcade when he finally gets to wrap his hands around Jarrett's neck and make him pay for each and every single thing he's done. Savage reminds Jarrett that the steel cage that will surround the ring will prevent his cronies, Luger and Bagwell, from getting involved in their match, which means that Jarrett will have to fight his own battle for a change. Savage then gets in Jarrett's face for an intense staredown before telling him that he's looking forward to seeing him this Sunday, ohh yeah!!! <strong>(A*)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="Z1DlA0N.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Z1DlA0N.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7PSSM69.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7PSSM69.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="O6ChwMw.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/O6ChwMw.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> We cut to the back where "Mean" Gene Okerlund is standing by with Sting and Booker T and he asks them about their match later tonight against Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash, as well as about their respective matches at Starrcade. Sting says it doesn't matter, however, because he's still here, he's still standing, and he'll be at Starrcade to defend his World Championship no matter what Scott Steiner throws at him. Booker T talks about Kevin Nash, calling him a backstabber and saying that he'll pay the price for his actions--both tonight and this Sunday at Starrcade! "The Cat" then hits the Feliner and, adding insult to injury, "The Cat" locks Flair in his own Figure Four Leglock. <p>Scott Steiner - <em>This is the perfect time to start up "Big Poppa Pump's" second reign of terror!</em></p><p>

Randy Savage - <em>While I'm pretty sure Savage isn't far from hanging up the tights, I think you can get a little more mileage out of him.</em></p><p>

Kevin Nash - <em>This will fully cement his heel turn, making him a force for all to see.</em></p><p>

DDP - <em>Same as with Nash.</em></p><p>

O'Haire and Palumbo - <em>I've been going pretty heel heavy, so here's a big face win.</em></p><p>

Ric Flair - <em>You've done great with Cat, but Flair takes this.</em></p><p>

Billy Kidman - <em>Someone has to retain a title, let it be Billy.</em></p><p>

The Jung Dragons - <em>They'd make nice first contenders for Palumbo and O'Haire.</em></p><p>

Invaders - <em>Get the youngsters over big.</em></p><p>

Kanyon - <em>Kanyon and Awesome will make great next Tag champs (after Palumbo and O'Haire).</em></p><p> </p><p>

Highest: Sting vs. Steiner</p><p>

Lowest: Invaders vs. Old Timers</p><p>

Longest: Jarrett vs. Savage</p><p>

Shortest: Flair vs. Miller</p><p>

Duggan: Yes, maybe Greg Valentine?</p>

I kinda botched his debut in-game wise, and even though I was pretty excited about the character before I officially debuted him, I quickly lost interest in it. That, combined with the botched in-game debut, made me decide to scrap the character. I have plans to bring him back up eventually, albeit with a different character and gimmick.</p>

Comment: He's giving you fantastic work, it'd be a shame to retire him in the game, unless he's already announced his retirement. One last title win would be great for the Madness!</p><p> </p><p>
