Alex Wright, AJ Styles and Cash all have the opportunity to earn a spot at Starrcade here, and all three men give it everything they've got and leave it all in the ring. After a highly competitive match, the finish comes when Big Smooth gets involved in the match, hitting a devastating powerslam on Alex Wright and then taking AJ Styles out with a gorilla press slam. Cash then picks up the scraps left to him by his bodyguard as he hits the Dead Level on Alex Wright and picks up the one-two-three. Scott promises that, after tonight, the only thing that is gonna be on Sting's mind is his fist because he's gonna beat him so bad he'll be seeing Big Poppa Pump's fists circling around his head every time he closes his eyes! After regrouping on the floor, "Big Sexy" re-enters the ring and manages to take control the match as he catches Chuck Palumbo with a knee and immediately follows up with some huge punches. With control established, "Buff Daddy" slaps Nash on the back to tag in, which Nash's doesn't approve of at all, but Buff reminds him that he's the Tag Team Champion, not Nash, so he knows what he's doing. This, of course, leads to Palumbo fighting back and making the tag to Booker T, who not only takes down Buff, but nails Nash and Luger in the corner as well. Things finally break down completely, and amidst the chaos, while Buff and Luger are battling O'Haire and Palumbo outside the ring, Nash lands a low blow on Booker T, then quickly hits the Jackknife Powerbomb to pick up a huge victory here on Nitro. Heenan claims that Nash simply outsmarted Booker T here tonight, which Tony and Mike both disagree with, of course. The trio then turn their attention to what's still to come tonight, specifically the main event where the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Sting, will be in action as he has agreed to be "Macho Man" Randy Savage's tag team partner in his match against KroniK. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's music then hits and we cut to the entrance ramp. "The Cat" slides into the ring and attacks Flair from behind, but Flair is able to turn the tables and he starts lighting up the chest of "The Cat" with thunderous knife edge chops...until Miss Jones nails him from behind with a low blow! "The Cat" hits the Feliner and then mocks Flair by doing his own--very bad--version of the Nature Boy Strut, much to the fans' disapproval, as well as to Tony Schiavone's, who says that he is "absolutely disgusted" by the behavior of "The Cat" here. Jarrett dares him to do it, reminding him of everything he stands to lose if he does so and, perhaps somewhat remarkably, Savage is able to keep his composure and not attack Jarrett. Instead, Savage rolls out of the ring and comes to the aid of Sting, but KroniK gets back in the fight and Nitro comes to an end with Sting and Savage getting beaten down by the Steiner Brothers and KroniK. Worst of all was the situation regarding Road Warriro Hawk, who only just debuted on this show. Apparently Hawk has been abusing painkillers for a while and the effects of that abuse were clearly visible during his appearance on Nitro. This situation alone was enough to give management cause for concern, but Hawk decided to make an even worse first night back impression after the show when he badmouthed the Cruiserweight Champion, Billy Kidman, claiming that Kidman just didn't connect with the fans. Despite the fact that plans were obviously in place for Hawk to wrestle alongside Animal and Hugh Morrus at Starrcade, we can now confirm that WCW has officially released Road Warrior Hawk from his contract. Hawk is said to have been signed under a pay-per-appearance deal, so releasing him wasn't too much of a hassle financially. That said, there are rumors that plans were in place for the Road Warriors to have a run as a tag team in WCW in early 2002, but obviously those plans have now changed. Ric Flair also caused some problems backstage when he decided to mock Cash for what Flair perceived as a lack of a push for the young cruiserweight. talent. Flair was given a slap on the wrist and nothing more came of the situation. Ending things on a brighter note, rumor has it that WCW recently made a new signing. While it couldn't be called a major signing, it looks like the cruiserweight division is about to get some new blood in the very near future. </div></blockquote>

The brawl turns into a beatdown, however, as Mike Awesome recovers and comes to the aid of Kanyon, and Bam Bam Bigelow ends up getting beaten down until security finally arrive to break things up. Bam Bam Bigelow and Chris Kanyon will face off this Sunday at Starrcade, but does Bigelow stand a chance of winning with Mike Awesome in Kanyon's corner? Rey Misterio Jr. defeated Hell Raiser at 5.57 by disqualification when Diamond Dallas Page got involved (C+) The match may officially be over, but Diamond Dallas Page continues his attack after the match, putting the boots to Rey and showing no signs of letting up. Bobby Heenan doesn't share their disgust, however, as he claims that Page is just doing what he has to do, which is the way this business works. The question remains, however; what is going to happen when these two go head to head at Starrcade with the United States Championship on the line? Tony notes that Jarrett is only this cocky and confident tonight because he knows that Eric Bischoff has banned Randy Savage from putting his hands on Jarrett before Starrcade or else he'll lose his World Title opportunity. Jarrett claims that he is the rightful World Heavyweight Champion and that after he retires Randy Savage at Starrcade, he'll be back in the hunt to regain his title, and he doesn't care if it's Sting, Scott Steiner or someone else entirely because in the end it won't mean a damn thing because no one can hold a candle to "The Chosen One"! Jarrett is then suddenly interrupted as "Macho Man" Randy Savage's music hits... (A) <img alt="TTtujDA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TTtujDA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> "Macho Man" Randy Savage makes his way out from the back to the exact opposte reaction of what Jarrett received as it is nothing but cheers for the "Macho Man". Tony Schiavone notes that what Jarrett said is true to a certain extent, which is to say that tonight could be Savage's last Monday Nitro because he will be forced to retire if he loses to Jarrett this Sunday at Starrcade. Savage joins Jarrett in the ring and it's obvious from the expression on Savage's face that he is only just barely able to keep himself from attacking Jarrett, and that he is doing everything he can to restrain himself. Savage says that it all comes down to Sunday night and Starrcade when he finally gets to wrap his hands around Jarrett's neck and make him pay for each and every single thing he's done. Savage reminds Jarrett that the steel cage that will surround the ring will prevent his cronies, Luger and Bagwell, from getting involved in their match, which means that Jarrett will have to fight his own battle for a change. Savage then gets in Jarrett's face for an intense staredown before telling him that he's looking forward to seeing him this Sunday, ohh yeah!!! Booker T talks about Kevin Nash, calling him a backstabber and saying that he'll pay the price for his actions--both tonight and this Sunday at Starrcade! Gene notes that Sting and Booker look like they are ready for a fight tonight, and then he sends us back to ringside for some more in-ring action. The finish comes when Miss Jones provides a timely distraction at ringside, providing "The Cat" with the perfect opening for him to hit the Feliner on Smiley and secure a pinfall victory for himself just six days before he goes one on one with "The Nature Boy" at Starrcade. "The Cat" defeated Norman Smiley at 4.21 by pinfall with a Feliner following a distraction by Miss Jones (C-) After the match, "The Cat" once again gets on the mic to mock Ric Flair, calling him a senile old man and saying that there's a good chance Flair won't even show up at Starrcade because he'll have forgotten all about the match by then. <img alt="zah6nFe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zah6nFe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> This is when Flair pulls a page out of The Cat's playbook as he sneaks through the crowd and slides into the ring to attack "The Cat" from behind! Flair lights up "The Cat" with some thunderous knife edge chops, but Flair's attack is halted as Miss Jones once again makes her presence felt as she lands a low blow from behind. "The Cat" then hits the Feliner and, adding insult to injury, "The Cat" locks Flair in his own Figure Four Leglock. "The Cat" and Miss Jones are all smiles as they stand above Flair, having once again gotten the better of "The Nature Boy" here on Nitro. Tony notes that four of the biggest stars in the wrestling business will square off in the middle of the ring in a few moments, adding that matches like this is exactly why WCW is the place to be in professional wrestling today. Mike Tenay adds that not only is this a huge match, but it is also a hugely important match because the winning team tonight will head into Starrcade this Sunday with a lot of momentum on their side. The announcers then send us back down to ringside for our main event of the evening. Scott Steiner - This is the perfect time to start up "Big Poppa Pump's" second reign of terror!

Randy Savage - While I'm pretty sure Savage isn't far from hanging up the tights, I think you can get a little more mileage out of him.

Kevin Nash - This will fully cement his heel turn, making him a force for all to see.

DDP - Same as with Nash.

O'Haire and Palumbo - I've been going pretty heel heavy, so here's a big face win.

Ric Flair - You've done great with Cat, but Flair takes this.

Billy Kidman - Someone has to retain a title, let it be Billy.

The Jung Dragons - They'd make nice first contenders for Palumbo and O'Haire.

I kinda botched his debut in-game wise, and even though I was pretty excited about the character before I officially debuted him, I quickly lost interest in it. That, combined with the botched in-game debut, made me decide to scrap the character. I have plans to bring him back up eventually, albeit with a different character and gimmick.
