ISL 1.5: Featherweight King of Asia

Quarter Final 1: Reza Afshar(Camp MMAManiac) vs Tan Su

Round 1
: Afshar is off-target with a jab but scores a glancing blow with a left head kick. He dodges a right hand and counter-attacks with a pair of jabs that are followed by a left hand that narrowly fails to connect. Su uses a left jab but has a right hand blocked. The time is up, and that's the end of round one. That was definitely 10-9 in favour of Afshar.

Round 2
: Su misses a right cross that leaves him open to the counter. Afshar attacks with a right roundhouse kick to the body. He follows up with a pair of jabs that are followed by a head kick. Su looks to have been cut above his eye, blood is trickling down. An exchange of strikes happens right in the center of the cage but neither fighter lands anything good. Round two ends as time expires. 10-9 to Afshar.

Round 3
: Afshar scores with a jab and also drives a kick into the thigh area. There's a burst of strikes but neither fighter gets caught. Afshar scores with a jab and also hits a kick to the lead leg. Su uses a left jab but has a right hand blocked.Time expires and we come to the end of round three.

Round 4
: The two fighters stand and trade strikes, neither lands a significant blow in the exchange. Su is starting to have to push himself now, and his corner respond by urging him on a little louder. Looking shattered, they all but collapse into each other and clinch. Su doesn't get the takedown, Afshar instead wrestles his way into controlling the grapple. Su blocks a knee strike but cannot get free of the Muay Thai clinch. Time expires and we come to the end of round four.

Round 5
: Afshar tries a knee strike but doesn't connect, but Su isn't able to get free of the clinch either. Using the clinch, Afshar drives a knee into the chest of Su, but didn't get much force behind it. He lands a right kick to the rib cage. Both fighters look spent, and at close range they fall into a clinch as round ends.

All three judges have given 50-45.

Reza Afshar defeats Tan Su (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 5). The fight was rated as being Good.

Quarter Final 2: So Yip(Camp Soldierboy) vs Cong Dun(Camp Mrs. MMAManiac)

Round 1
: Yip misses a big right hand, putting him off balance and allowing Dun to attack with a jab and a head kick. He scores with a great right hook. Yip throws a flurry of three punches that end with a right hook. Dun slips past a right hook and counters with a head kick that just about landed, albeit without much power. Round ends and that’s 10-8 to Yip.

Round 2
: Dun misses a right hook and leaves himself open to be countered with a left jab and a hook to the body that fails to land. Yip lands a three-strike combination that ends with a right cross. A stand-up striking battle is doing Dun no favours, Yip is comfortably winning the exchanges so far in this fight. Yip looks like he may have broken his hand with that last punch. A damaged hand will obviously cause Yip some major problems when it comes to striking. He lands a hard right hand, sending Dun down to the canvas but he gets up at 8. Dun doesn't connect with a left jab but launches a right head kick that did damage as round 2 ends. That was close but Yip takes it 10-9.

Round 3
: Yip uses dirty boxing and gets in a few crisp punches on Dun as they grapple.

The fighters fall into a sloppy clinch as their gas tank is being challenged here. The fighters go toe-to-toe with strikes but the flurry ends without any really damaging shots landing. Dun gets caught with a couple of nice short punches. Yip tries to take Dun down but can’t get it as time expires. 10-8 to Yip.

Round 4
: Yip uses the same strategy of dirty boxing and striking hard and lands a few shots but is unable to takedown Dun and in a close round takes it 10-9.

Round 5
: Looking for a takedown, Yip drops down and gets hold of a leg. Dun remains standing on the other foot, leaning against the cage. It's not pretty, but Yip drags Dun to the mat. Dun pulls guard. Yip lies on top of Dun, basically smothering him as round ends.

All three judges score the contest as 50-45.

So Yip defeats 'The Serpent King' Cong Dun (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 5). The fight was rated as being Decent.

Quarter Final 3: Li-Kong Ho(Camp Judoku) vs Pim Pim Gwon

Round 1
: Gwon hits a left hand, but Ho avoids a big right and then gets a successful single leg takedown. Ho tries to pass the guard but reaches to only half-guard. Gwon can't keep his opponent in half guard though, and Ho gains side control. He attempts a kneebar by hooking a leg, and it's deep enough that Gwon has to tap.

'Little Dragon' Li-Kong Ho defeats 'Snake Eyes' Pim Pim Gwon (Submission (Kneebar) in 3:40 of round 1). The fight was rated as being Great.

Quarter Final 4: Chan Wan Wah(Camp Martel) vs Greg Chiang

Round 1
: Stepping in, Wan Wah throws three quick punches, one of which land, and then lands a sick right head kick. Chiang falls down to the floor but gets up at 7. Wan Wah hits a left jab and then catches Chiang with a spin kick to the body, but Chiang manages to push Wan Wah against the cage and keeps him there, smothering him. With the fight having been stuck against the cage for a lengthy period of time, referee Chen Hwang restarts them back in the center. They exchange short punches and time runs out. Wan Wah takes it 10-9.

Round 2
: Wan Wah lands a jab and then hits a nice straight right. There's a takedown attempt from Chiang but Wan Wah defends it and ends up hopping on one foot. Chiang uses the position to drive Wan Wah up against the cage and smothers him. After referee brings them back into the center, Chiang shoots in for a takedown and gets it. He continues smothering Wan Wah as clock runs out. 10-9 to Chiang. It is level now at 19-19.

Round 3
: Chiang, looking very tentative, pokes out a pair of quick jabs; neither had any power on them. Wan Wah connects with a jab but misses with a low kick. Wan Wah is trapped against the cage and Chiang hits him with a short left uppercut. Wan Wah fires off a flurry of punches and time expires. 10-9 to Wan Wah. He is up 29-28 now.

Round 4
: Wan Wah lands a left hand and then hits a scything kick to the legs of Chiang. Chiang shoots in, looking for a takedown and gets it. He passes the guard attempt and gains side control. He attempts an armbar but Wan Wah stacks up Chiang and punches away until he stops the armbar attempt and round 4 ends. 10-9 to Chiang and it’s all level again at 38-38. Everything to play for in the final round.

Round 5
: Wan Wah lands three of three quick punches and then scores with a leg kick. Chiang is barely able to walk thanks to all the damage to the legs he has been forced to take. He can't get Wan Wah down and so settles for pushing him up against the cage. The next sixty seconds sees them doing very little other than throwing occasional short punches to the body. Wan Wah can't hit a set-up left jab, but then hits Chiang with a body kick The time runs out and the fight is over.

All three judges have given 48-47 to Wan Wah.

Chan Wan Wah defeats Greg Chiang (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 5). The fight was rated as being Decent.

Semi Final 1: Reza Afshar(Camp MMAManiac) vs So Yip(Camp Soldierboy)

Yip sustained a Broken Wrist earlier, so we do not know whether he will be competing again. The referee has been informed and the fight is officially over, Yip has been forced to forfeit due to injury. One night tournaments do tend to be unpredictable with regards to injuries, but that's still a sad way to end this particular fight.

Reza Afshar defeats So Yip (Forfeit)

Semi Final 2: Li-Kong Ho(Camp Judoku) vs Chan Wan Wah(Camp Martel)

Round 1
: Wan Wah throws a punch but Ho avoids it. Ho quickly shoots on Wan Wah and gets a single leg takedown. He does excellently, getting into side control and locks Wan Wah into an armbar. Wah is in huge trouble. No! He pops his arm free. That was really close but he fails to capitalize, getting trapped back in side control. Ho locks in a kimura and this time there is no escape.

'Little Dragon' Li-Kong Ho defeats Chan Wan Wah (Submission (Kimura) in 3:08 of round 1). The fight was rated as being Good.

Final: Li-Kong Ho(Camp Judoku) vs Reza Afshar(Camp MMAManiac)

Round 1
: Afshar throws a quick punch but doesn't land. He gets taken down by a single leg and has to pull guard. Ho seems to be trying to loosen the guard in an attempt to create a leglock opportunity but Afshar keeps his guard tight. Unable to pass guard, Ho attempts to secure an arm. A straight armbar is applied and Afshar has to tap out before his arm is hyper-extended.

'Little Dragon' Li-Kong Ho defeats Reza Afshar (Submission (Armbar) in 4:04 of round 1). The fight was rated as being Good. Li-Kong Ho wins Featherweight King of Asia!!
