Things kicked off with a video package highlighting that The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal....Death–Defying Maniac, Sabu will compete in an ECW ring for the last time at the next event before retiring. He will be getting a shot at the Television Champion Marty Scurll! [74]

Tazz and Mike Tenay showed several Tweets that CM Punk had been sending this week that he is THE Cult of Hardcore and no one can compete with him. He claimed he could beat anyone, any time he wanted and it would start with Rob Van Dam. Due to his bold claims tonight’s main event would now be a no DQ hardcore match! [79]

The newly formed team of Raven and Marty Scurll came out under the name The Flock of Villians and made very quick work of Braddox and Dream. Completely dominating the pair who were there for one night only. Eventually Marty hit the Scurll Stunner on Dream for the win. The Flock of Villians posed over the beaten duo to a chorus of boos. [36]

Out next was masked luchador El Hijo del Medico Asesino. He delivered a brief promo in Spanish much to displeasure of the ECW crowd. Once he finished he began to carry out some Mexican luchador rolls and drills, which furtherly annoyed the rabid fans.

And it was a case of ask and you shall receive. The lights went out briefly and when they came on in the ring was 911 to a huge reaction. The giant immediately grabbed Asesino around the throat and threw him over the top rope to the outside before walking out to big EE CEE DUB chants. [67]

ECW original Tommy Dreamer had been having his fair share of problems with the two Brits of late and finally got his chance to get his hands on Tyler Bate one on one. With Pete Dunne banned from ringside the deck seemed to be stacked a little fairer. In what turned out to be great match the pair put on a surprisingly good performance. The crowd were clearly behind the ECW original and finally he got his revenge when he hit a DDT for the victory. [52]

The fans and Dreamer’s celebrations were cut short when Pete Dunne came through the crowd and in his own hat tip to the ECW originals, brutally attacked him with a Kendo stick. Delivering vicious blow after vicious blow eventually the British duo left the ring leaving the beaten Dreamer struggling to get to his feet. [53]

After some good recent performances Emma was getting a well deserved shot at Ayako Hamada’s Women’s World Title. It was an open match with the momentum swinging back and forth between both of the women. Even in defeat Emma came out looking strong. But she couldn’t find a way of kicking out of the Hamada Bomb as Ayako made the first defence of her Women’s World Title. [52]

The tag team champions The Briscoes came out next and delivered a promo saying that Jack Swagger was so unpopular backstage that they doubted he’d ever be able to find himself a partner if he was able to beat Mark tonight. [47]

Although the fans weren’t backing the All American Patriot Jack Swagger there was clearly a lot of WE THE PEOPLE chants around the arena. Love him or hate him (well the ECW fans clearly hated him!) but Swagger was putting on a very good performance. Keeping both Mark busy in the ring he attempted to even give Jay the run around outside. Everything the Briscoes threw his way he seemed to have an answer for. Eventually his enthusiasm became Swaggers undoing. Annoyed by Jay’s continued attempts to interfere he chased him up the ramp and to the locker room only to be counted out! A rooky error from Swagger, but would this mean his title match was now gone? [61]

The camera cut to the locker room and in the background the World Title match was being introduced. Rob Van Dam was walking towards the ring and all of the locker room lined the corridors applauding him and wishing him luck as he went past. He stopped finally at Bubba Dudley and they simply fist bumped before RVD went through the curtain. Up next was CM Punk. However the boys in the back gave him a completely different reaction, with many turning their back on him and refusing to meet his gaze. Punk just strutted past them all with a smug grin on his face. As his music hit he stopped for a moment and called out before stepping through the curtain, “Hey Dreamer, how about next week you dig up Balls Mahoney for me to beat!” Dreamer had to be restrained as Punk walked towards the ring. [70]

http://i.imgur.com/tXtBq4X.jpg V http://i.imgur.com/UfaIovu.jpg

The whole arena was buzzing for the second meeting of this pair. The last match up they had showed they had real chemistry and the hardcore rules for the match seemed to have them anticipating it even more. In the early exchanges Punk was trying to play mind games, he would leave the ring and avoid any of RVD’s trademark offence. Eventually taking the upper hand when Punk caught him off guard when he tried to chase him out of the ring. From this point onwards the match took place largely outside of the ring, in the face of the fans who were calling for Punk’s blood. And they weren’t made to wait long. A trash can lid blow to CM Punk left him with a big gash on his head and covered in blood.

With Van Dam taking advantage Paul Heyman came to the ring, begging RVD to stop the match and just leave now with his head held high and honour restored. But Van Dam wasn’t listening and eventually a chair shot left Punk slumped in the corner with a crimson mask and Rob positioned a chair infront of him to prepare for the Van Daminator. Heyman climbed in the ring with a chair of his own causing RVD to step down from the top rope to confront him.

To the crowds delight Bubba Dudley came out and wrestled the chair from Paul Heyman, who was then hit with a spinning kick from RVD which fortunately floored Heyman right in front of Punk! The crowd went crazy as RVD repositioned the chair in front of Heyman AND CM Punk. Encouraged by Dudley and the crowd Van Dam climbed the turnbuckle again and delivered the R V D thumbs, then he flew through the air towards the two men and…

THUMP

As he was flying through the air Bubba Dudley threw a chair at Van Dam halting him mid flight. There was a moment of silence as people tried to work out what was happening. Dudley pulled the chair away from Heyman and helped him to his feet. Paul had the same look of confusion as all the fans. As Van Dam staggered to his feet Dudley spun around and hit him with a Bubba Bomb to a huge negative reaction from the crowd. Heyman’s shock expression turned to a huge grin and Bubba Dudley dragged CM Punk’s blooded, beaten body and laid it over RVD and demanded the referee count

And Punk retains! The fans started to throw rubbish into the ring as Bubba dragged Punk out with him and Heyman grabbed the title belt. The three men made their way out of the ring to end the show. [80]

I'm enjoying your direction for ECW. It's interesting seeing the old ECW wrestlers pitted up against younger guys.
