AAW: Canada Needs a Medic

Recommended Posts

I'd just like to say the banter between Hero and Voeltz is an under rated part of this diary

AAW Taking Flight 18

AAW All Action Championship Match

Austin Smooth vs Mario Heroic

Smooth is my favourite guy in the promotion and I'm not very high on Heroic

Also Featuring

Kid Fantastic and Mark Smart vs Fearless Blue and Garry the Entertainer

I could see these guys actually teaming together, though I don't think they need to

Mercury vs Ricochet Ramone

You may beat a leaving Sleep, but you won't beat a former AAW champ

Kong & Medico vs The Roughnecks

I like this team

Jules Night vs Christopher Ball

At this point I find Ball more of a talent but he probably doesn't fit the product that well

Monkey Maraguchi vs Lion Heart

Heart rebuilds, though I wouldn't have minded if he went away for awhile to lick his wounds post championship run

Let me say that your work was one of the first diaries that I came across when I started to frequent these boards regularly, glad you are back man.

AAW Taking Flight 18

AAW All Action Championship Match

Austin Smooth vs Mario Heroic

It would be highly unlikely for Smooth to lose this one, unless you forget to set a winner again, which I doubt would happen.

Also Featuring

Kid Fantastic and Mark Smart vs Fearless Blue and Garry the Entertainer

KF & Mark Smart are two of my faves in this diary, so is Blue, but I can't see his team get the W here.

Mercury vs Ricochet Ramone

Ramone is far more established than Mercury at this point, but hope he does well.

Kong & Medico vs The Roughnecks

Kong & Medico seem like a good team and would need the momentum going forward

Jules Night vs Christopher Ball

The slightly experienced wrestler goes over the non-experienced one.

Monkey Maraguchi vs Lion Heart

Bounce back win for the former two time champ.

Doesn't help he and Blue aren't exactly on friendly terms where Smart and Fantastic seem to have no problem being a tandem and control the tempo. Smart hits a Smart attack on Garry afterwards and picks up the win.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Winners: Mark Smart and Kid Fantastic</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;"> Rating: 47</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <img alt="DLcYpsN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DLcYpsN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="fg3XDPU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fg3XDPU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Austin Smooth comes out to gloat some more about his win and then run down his challenger for the night. He looks like he got Mario riled up and pays for it early on. If not for a good old thumb to the eye at one point the match was looking very one sided. Smooth throws everything he has and Heroic seems to find a way to escape each submission attempt and he has the champ clearly frustrated. Smooth even seems to try and keep the match going long in hopes to wind Heroic, but despite a bit of a gut it looks like Mario still has a good cardio and keeps going. Smooth looks desperate and he manages to dodge a move that results in Heroic to hit the turnbuckles and gets dazed. Dazed long enough that Smooth quickly locks in the Smooth Hold. Heroic fights and can't make it to the ropes. He does his best to try and free himself and eventually has to tap.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Winner and STILL Champion: Austin Smooth (Defenses: 1)</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;"> Rating: 55</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Final Rating: 48</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45603" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>El Medico: The tag experiment is still underway and both tag matches did well. Just trying to find teams that work and what ones don't. Right now Cobra and Blaze along with me and Kong are the only for sure things. Beyond that the early matches did what they needed to and give the new guys some experience and also give Lion Heart a bounce back win after his defeat. He may not be as stylish as the other guys on the roster, but I still find him valuable and he does have the distinction of being our first ever champ as well as our first two time champ.<p> </p><p> Really pleased with the main event and a lot of that goes to Smooth. Heroic is a good worker, but he is still getting used to being in the ring again. His title run should be an interesting one at least and I am looking forward to what happens with it. We had a smaller crowd again, but only by about ten or so people so not a big deal. Everyone left happy so hopefully things will pick back up and we start to bring in more.</p></div></blockquote>

There is only one title right now and the cup is going to be a once a year thing. I like so many of the guys and they all feel deserving that it is no surprise it feels like someone doesn't get the credit they deserve.</p><p> </p><p> I feel Ricochet Ramone is one of those people. He has been a agent back stage helping me out constantly as well as being a reliable hand in the ring. His title run was supposed to go much longer than it did and after losing the title he did get lost in the shuffle. Then it came time for the cup and I had really wanted to have him in the finals, but at the same time Smooth and JOJI had been tearing it up and I feel I made the right decision in the end.</p><p> </p><p> And then it was time for Lion Heart to drop the title. I respect Lion Heart, but I feel him being champ longer was going to do more harm than good. JOJI already had the cup so it seemed best to let Smooth have his day finally after all the hard work. Sadly that also meant Ramone was left outside looking in.</p><p> </p><p> Don't get me wrong, there are others too. Mark Smart is a great example as well of someone that has done so much for the company and unlike Ramone he hasn't even had a title run. Not to mention as we push forward we are seeing guys like Kid Fantastic and Bradley Blaze improve and pull out good matches. It is only going to get harder in time, but I will always do my best to reward everyone for their hard work.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kpFkTn5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45603" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">AAW Taking Flight 19</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>AAW All Action Championship Match</strong></p><p> </p><p> Austin Smooth vs CILL Representative</p><p> </p><p> <strong>#1 Contender's Match</strong></p><p> </p><p> Lion Heart vs Kid Fantastic vs Mark Smart vs Bradley Blaze</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Also Featuring</strong></p><p> </p><p> Cobra vs Mario Heroic vs Cheech Kong</p><p> </p><p> Mercury and Monkey Maraguchi vs ???</p><p> </p><p> El Medico vs Fearless Blue</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

<em>Nope, Smooth ain´t dropping the belt yet and certainly not to anyone outside the company.</em></p><p> </p><p>

#1 Contender's Match</p><p>

<strong>Lion Heart</strong> vs Kid Fantastic vs Mark Smart vs Bradley Blaze</p><p>

<em>Lion Heart gets his rematch.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Also Featuring</p><p>

Cobra vs <strong>Mario Heroic</strong> vs Cheech Kong</p><p>

<em>Heroic is highest on pecking order out from these three (at least in my books).</em></p><p> </p><p>

Mercury and Monkey Maraguchi vs <strong>???</strong></p><p>

<em>I was briefly wondering if Mercury and Monkey could win here based on the fact that most new guys you had brought in so far have started at the bottom of the barrel but since there´s not much point putting two unknowns as mystery opponents, I´d figure it´s actual tag team with some popularity this time so I go with mystery guys. </em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>El Medico</strong> vs Fearless Blue</p><p>

<em>Medico has a team going on while Blue seems to be slighly lost into shuffle latery so I go with Medico based on the idea that he has more going on at the moment.</em></p>

Sure it could have been worse, but our two big matches just kind of didn't live up to what I had hoped. After Amazing Firefly's performance a few months back I was excited for El Pavo Real. I seen some tape and he looked really good. Then he just seemed lost out there. Austin was the one coming off as the veteran and El Pavo Real looked like a rookie. I don't know if we will be using CILL talent again for awhile and if we do I don't think El Pavo Real will be coming back.<p> </p><p> Lion Heart also didn't do so hot. He is never going to be the best talent between the ropes, but I know he can do better. Part of me thinks he was sandbagging and Mario said the same thing to me when watching from the back. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and just chalk it up to a bad night.</p><p> </p><p> Beyond that I figured Ball and Night could make a good enough team. Both are focus on a more technical approach in the ring so in time they hopefully can gel and be competitive if we ever decide to bring in tag belts. Overall things felt like a bit of a step back, but we are still a really small company so we can handle growing pains like this.</p></div></blockquote>

Smart wins the match to remain in the company, but it’s by DQ, so no title

If Mark Smart loses he leaves AAW

Also Featuring

Mario Heroic vs Lion Heart

Lion seems to be moping in a bit of a slump

Kid Fantastic vs Bradley Blaze

Two guys moving up in the world, but I think Kid gets the mild upset win

<p>AAW All Action Championship Match</p><p>

<strong>Austin Smooth</strong> vs Mark Smart</p><p>

If Mark Smart loses he leaves AAW</p><p>

<em>Well, that stipulation does certainly make this interesting and harder to predict as Smart wasn´t someone who I would expect to leave at this point. That said, I still go with Smooth, mainly because I feel he needs longer run but also because that stipulation came bit out of no where (in a sense that Mark himself added the stipulation after he already had won a title shot) which makes me think that perhaps Smart was stolen or something else happened that sees Mark leaving AAW and lead to this particular stipulation being added.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Also Featuring</p><p>

<strong>Mario Heroic</strong> vs Lion Heart</p><p>

<em>If Lion Heart was indeed sandbagging last month as the post show write-up suggest, then I´d assume that you wouldn´t reward him with a win over guy who is pretty much on similar level in terms of push.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Kid Fantastic</strong> vs Bradley Blaze</p><p>

<em>I could see this one going either way but since Kid was the one who ate the pin in the first contender match, I assume he gets the bounce back win here.</em></p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Ricochet Ramone</strong> vs Fearless Blue</p><p>

<em>Ramone is above Blue on pecking order so he is kept strong here.</em></p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Kong and Medico</strong> vs Hurt Squad</p><p>

<em>Assuming here that Kong and Medico are more over (or at least Medico is) and thus more likely to win.</em></p>

September, Week 1, Sunday 2017

Brandon Hall (Manitoba)

Attendance: 216

BCTXdTB.jpgM3Xludi.jpg

Harry Chadwick comes out and says Mark Smart does not need to leave AAW if he loses and pleads for Mark to come out and reconsider making such a rash decision. Mark does come out and admits it was a bad choice, but after thinking it over he still believes if he loses tonight no one will see his face in AAW again.

Hurt Squad vs Kong & Medico

Hurt Squad start out with an early advantage by keeping the other team grounded. Medico is kept away from his partner while both Ball and Night work the masked man over. Eventually Medico does tag Kong and things start to become a more back and forth fight. In the end the team with more experience comes out on top when Ball gets caught with a big kick by Medico who tags in Kong who hits the Moonsault for the victory.

Winners: Kong & Medico

Mercury vs Garry the Entertainer

Garry finds Mercury running circles around him. He just can't keep up with the quick, high flying offense of the Japanese wrestler. Mercury is overwhelming before quickly taking down Garry and finishing him off with a Mercury Rising.

Winner: Mercury

Cobra vs Monkey Maraguchi

Monkey starts off well with quick attacks while avoiding Cobra, but things turn around when Cobra nails a bit lariat and takes control. Monkey never regains that momentum and is disposed of rather quickly by Cobra.

Winner: Cobra

Ricochet Ramone comes out and says he is proving he is ready for another title shot. He is ready to claim the top prize once more. As for Fearless Blue? He is on the way down to the bottom and will stay there until he is forgotten and discarded for being useless.

Ricochet Ramone vs Fearless Blue

This is a very one sided fight and Ramone seems very confident. Almost too confident, but yet he keeps focused and he works over Fearless Blue. Blue's attempts to fight back aren't successful, but he does get the element of surprise when he rolls up Ramone and actually gets the three count. Blue goes to quickly celebrate in the crowd while Ramone is irate.

Winner: Fearless Blue

Kid Fantastic vs Bradley Blaze

Good back and forth match with a start contrast of styles that sees both men come close to victory quite a few times. Kid's high risk offense pays off early, but it also is his undoing when a big shooting star press attempt finds him crashing and burning. Blaze is quick to capitalize and nails the Dallas Drop to pick up the victory.

Winner: Bradley Blaze

Mario Heroic vs Lion Heart with Billie Krystal

Lion Heart tries to use his size to take advantage, but Heroic is too crafty and controls this match. It frustrates the former two time champion who is making more mistakes than he would normally. Heroic wears down his bigger opponent and once it seems like Lion Heart can't take much more he takes the former champ down with a Hero Attack.

Winner: Mario Heroic

Austin Smooth is out and he looks smug as can be. He says he won't be sad when Mark Smart leaves tonight. He is the epitome of failure and someone like Mark Smart could never be champion. A few months back he made AAW better by ridding it of JOJI and now tonight he rids it of Mark Smart.

Austin Smooth © vs Mark Smart

Mark Smart comes out hot and takes it to the champ. The pace is quick and Austin is kept off his game because of it and Smart is doing his best to win the title. A shift of momentum sees Smooth slow the pace more to his liking and he uses his array of submissions to try and put Mark Smart away. Mark refuses to submit and keeps finding ways out of the holds and start to come back. Several close calls for Smart who obviously is starting to look more desperate each time Mark Smart manages to kick out. They continue to fight it out and it is bad luck for Mark Smart because Austin Smooth at one point rolls the challenger up and puts his feet on the ropes. The referee never sees it and counts to three.

Mark Smart is distraught and in tears while a smug, yet tired, Austin Smooth mocks the defeated man. He gives a farewell to Mark Smart who hangs his head in defeat and leaves.

Winner and STILL Champion: Austin Smooth (Defenses: 3)

El Medico: This really felt like a good show to bounce back from last month. Had two solid matches at the end and a surprising one early on. The latter can really be credited to Mercury who after a match or two to shake off rust he has started to show some exciting ring work. If he keeps it up I can see big things for him in the future.

Lion Heart performed better this month and I am guessing he knew better than to try anything when in the ring with someone like Mario Heroic. Mario is a nice guy, but I don't think I would want to make him mad. Kid and Blaze was another nice encounter giving both young talents some time to show the audience what they could do.

A shame about Mark, but something will come along for him. It was a great match against Smooth and would have been a feel good moment if he won, but alas we will not be seeing Mark Smart in AAW again. We also had a increase in the audience finally after a dip so hopefully we can continue to draw more in.

No JOJI and now no Mark Smart. Sitting in my apartment I was just looking at the other members of the roster considering what to do. It is Austin's time to shine and while young I have utter confidence he can continue to put on great matches. We have people like Mario who also add a veteran's touch and also men like Mercury who are starting to show they can step up and fill voids if needed. I find it that I am starting to love testing myself and if I can still get us to deliver on shows without talents like JOJI and Smart then I can find new ways to test myself as a booker.

Harry has been away for most of the month tending to his businesses so this has been my first real time working on a show all by myself. I feel weird doing it alone, but it just seems to show much confidence Harry has in me at this point. Almost two years this has been going on and it doesn't seem like we will be slowing down any time soon. That can only bring a smile to my face as I take pen to paper and continue to work on my notes. It was not the life I expected, but it is becoming a life I wouldn't trade for anything.
