Decision 2015 (A Tommy Cornell story)

Recommended Posts

Sun Wk4 Dec 2015.

Hello my name is Tommy Cornell, if you're a fan or wrestling then you probably know that for the last ten years I have owned and operated a wrestling promotion named Total Championship Wrestling (TCW). What you may of may not have known is that while TCW has been able to compete with our arch nemisis, Supreme Championship Wrestling (SWF) for the last several years, that competion has taken a serious toll on our financial means. As I am currently writing this TCW is facing bankruptcy and on my desk I have two offers for the sale of the company.

The first offer is from an American toy company named BriCo, they would take over the contorl of TCW and appoint a CEO to run it, likely from among the current employees. With the financial resources they would be able to keep TCW alive and well for years to come. I however would be asked to leave and agree to not work for a competing American company. For this they are willing to give me a sum of 5 million dollars.

The second offer is believe it or not from none other than SWF. I am quite sure that SWF's plans would involve taking control of the assets, hand picking a few of the names, most of which would likely be buried by current SWF stars so they could "rub in" how much better is their promotion. Once again I would be asked to sign a no-compete deal that would not allow me to work in America anymore, but the catch is they're willing to offer me 10 million dollars should I choose them.

As I sit pondering my decision my phone rings. The voice on the other end tells me don't sign anything until you've heard what I have to offer.......

<p>I listened as the voice on the other end of the other end of the phone went on.</p><p> </p><p>

"My name is Allan Packer, I'm the owner of USPW and Reverie. I would like to buy TCW from you Mr. Cornell and I'd like to offer you a lifetime contract to be my CEO of USPW."</p><p> </p><p>

I could hardly believe what I was hearing now USPW also wanted to eliminate TCW? Mr. Packer, what are your plans for TCW?, I asked.</p><p> </p><p>

"I am glad that you asked Mr. Cornell, the plan is to absorb the TCW roster into USPW, as well your shows, and events and continue to run them all. In addition I'd alsolike to use Total Championship Wrestling as a high level developmental territory for the main rosters."</p><p> </p><p>

So far this deal was seeming very appealing, but there has to be a catch right? </p><p> </p><p>

"As the CEO an Head Booker Mr.Cornell you'll have full access to both rosters to use however you like, and I'll offer you as much air time on Reverie for both promotions as you want?" </p><p> </p><p>

Thinking to myself this deal is too good to be true, he probably wants to buy the company for pennies on the dollar.</p><p> </p><p>

So Mr. Packer what is your offer? I asked.</p><p> </p><p>

"I am prepared to pay you $20 million up front as well as pay off all TCW debt, and a $2 million per year salary as my CEO. What do you say Mr. Cornell.?"</p><p> </p><p>

Allan, may I call you Allan? I have two written offers on my desk right now, and I need to make a deal by midnight or I lose everything to the bank. How quickly can you get me a written offer?</p><p> </p><p>

"You may callme Allan, and the wriiten proposal should be in your email now. Have your lawyers look it over and let me know?"</p><p> </p><p>

I checked my email and sure enough ther was the proposal. I forwarded to my lawyer letting him know the urgentcy of the situation. </p><p> </p><p>

Thinking to myself 3 proposals for the future of TCW, no for the future of American wrestling. In my hands was the decision that would shape that future, let the 3 way war conitune, or do I determine who will be the winner? Does it's future involve me? </p><p> </p><p>

Decisions, decisions....</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

What would you do?</p>

<p>So with my decision made and about an hour before Psycho Circus, I called eveyone into a large backstage area to break the news.</p><p> </p><p>

"Hello everyone, as you know I've had to make a decision concerning the future of TCW, and it is my pleasure to tell you all that as of tomorrow none of you will be employees of TCW."</p><p> </p><p>

A see of grumbling erupted, Wolf Hawkins stood up and said, "Tommy I think I speak for everyone when I say I can't believe that you sold us out to SWF just so they could shut us down."</p><p> </p><p>

I laughed, "I didn't sell us to SWF, Wolf. We have been bought by USPW, and as of tomorrow we'll all be under contract with USPW."</p><p> </p><p>

Question began to emerge as to how this was all going to work, I explained to them that I would be running USPW, and answered as many questions as I could before letting them know that I would fill them in as well as the current USPw roster on Tuesday at the The Dust Bowl.</p><p> </p><p>

With the deal finalized we announced it live at the end of Psycho Circus and after the show I went to the Twitter machine and reached out to the fans asking, <span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>"What potential match ups would you like to see between current USPW and TCW stars?"</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>

<p>Monday, Wk1 Jan 2016</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Today was spent watching tape and evaluating the work styles and habits all the wrestlers and trying to determine what I was going to do with the roster. I decided that for now the best plan would be to keep the rosters seperate and have a brand split based on TCW and USPW as things stood last night. This would allow me to be able to finish up existing storylines as well as not throw the fans into a total frenzy when suddenly everything changed. While watching tape I noticed that a few guys from each roster would benefit from some more time to develop, and some would be good development trainers. I began creating my development roster, as well.</p><p> </p><p>

USPW Presents

TCW Presents Total Wrestling

The show opens up showing Tommy Cornell and Wolf Hawkins backstage agruing about something, but too far away to hear exactly what, as the cameraman gets closer Wolf stroms off in a huff.

Rating: 84

Out in the ring Brent Hill is telling all the fans how much his back hurts, and the reason why it hurts is because he had to single handedly carry “The Machines” for so long being tagged up with a no talent like the Human Arsenal. The Human Arsenal's music hit as he makes his way to the ring. Arsenal says, if Brent thinks he was carrying the team then he should be willing to put his money where his mouth is with a match at Malice in Wonderland. Brent says he has to check his calendar and will get back with Arsenal.

TCW World Tag Team Match

The New Wave vs The Demolition Crew

Scout/Guide Killer Shark/Titan

Scout take early advantage of the match but when he goes for a flying body press against the much bigger Killer Shark his momentum is halted. Killer Shark and Titan use frequent tags to wear down Scout and keeping him from making the tag. Scout finally makes the tag to Guide who comes in on fire ready to go, but thanks to a distraction by Killer Shark the ref didn't see it and makes Scout continue in the match. Scout manages to escape a power move from Titan and with a desperate lunge gets the hot tag to Guide who comes in and knocks Killer Shark off the apron before locking Titan into a submission move. Scout cuts off Killer Shark from making the save and Titan has to tap out. The New Wave are your new TCW World Tag Team Champions.

Rating: 69

Goldworthy Inc. (Floyd Goldworthy, Aaron Andrews & American Buffalo) are in the ring and they call out Rocky Golden. Floyd offers Rocky the oppurtunity of a lifetime, the chance to join Goldworthy Inc. Rocky goes to the four sides of the ring each time asking the fans if they think he should join, each time receiving a loud response “NO!” Rocky stares Floyd in the eyes before saying “no”, then looks to Andrews and says, keep my belt shiny, I'll be taking it back soon.” Then Golden walks off.

Rating: 78

Backstage the cameraman has caught a glimpse of action as he approach we can see that Bryan Vessey and Sammy Bach are in the middle of a brawl. Road agents and other wrestlers quickly step in and pull the two man apart, but it's clear they don't like eachother.

Rating: 69

Match

Bryan Vessey vs Darryl Devine

The match begins with lots of technical wrestling on display with each man trading holds and counter holds but it becomes quickly apparent that Bryan Vessey is just toying with before he begins to just systematically wear down Devine, finally hitting the Vessey Driver on him and collecting the pinfall.

Winner: Bryan Vessey

Rating:65

Tommy Cornell is in the ring, and he's announcing to the fans how he's now the most powerful man and wrestling and there is nobody that can stop the Syndicate. At that Wolf Hawkins' music hits and Wolf Hawkins makes his way to the ring mic in hand. He tells Tommy, that Tommy is wrong, because Wolf Hawkins is going to stop him and his now non existent Syndicate. Without warning Tommy punches Wolf, leading to the two mean brawling to the backstage.

Rating: 86

Match

Rocky Golden vs Troy Tornado

As the bell rings Aaron Andrews music plays as Rocky turns to look Troy clips his knee then puts Golden into a leg lock and laughs. Andrews was never coming out, Troy had just used the music to gain an early advantage. Rocky manages to crawl to the ropes and get the break, as he returns to his feet, he is limping noticably. Troy sweeps Golden's leg and he's down on the mat again, Tornado waste no time in locking in another leg submission. Rocky again manage to again get the rope break, and this time when goes for the leg again Rocky is ready for it, catching Troy with a Rocky Road, and putting him in The Rack. Troy has no choice but to tap out.

Winner:Rocky Golden

Rating: 80

Backstage Tommy Cornell has just called someone over. It's Killer Shark he tells Killer Shark there's an opening in the Syndicate, that he thinks The Demolition Crew would be a perfect fit. Killer Shark smiles a menacing smile as the show goes off air.

Made a bunch of signings today mostly developmental guys, but also a few youngsters to add to the current rosters. Both TCW and USPW had a lot of older wrestlers nearing the end of their careers, so we need to keep the pond full of fish ready to make that jump. There is one big fish out there that I'm trying to land I'll let you know how that goes eventually.
