Sixty Minute Time Limit</p><p>

Fro Sure versus <strong>“The Cornerstone” Riley McManus</strong> w/ Jeffrey Aroma</p><p>

Singles Match</p><p>

Thirty Minute Time Limit</p><p>

“The Hillbilly Hammer” Clyde Puder versus <strong>“The Evolution” Primus Allen</strong> w/ Lisa Bowen</p><p>

Grudge Match</p><p>

Thirty Minute Time Limit</p><p>

The Devil’s Rejects [Dewes and Tully] versus <strong>The Diaz Cousins</strong></p><p>

<em>Going to have a hard time picking against Logan, though I feel he really should be at the top beating up Riley for stealing his title.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Singles Match</p><p>

Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p>

<strong>“Bad, Bad” Lenny Brown</strong> versus Lil Henry</p><p>

<em>Pretty apathetic about both guys, but Henry is the jobber here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>American Elemental II & Elemental IV</strong> versus The 937lb Express</p><p>

<em>I'm assuming the Express are on a one night deal, stopping by to lay down for your masked fighters who look to step in and replace Star Master and co as the next masked main roster stars.</em></p>

But, I have to say...

I looked at the card for Summer Spectacular '19. I was pretty pleased with it and where we were going.

He wanted it to be extra cool tonight. The air conditioner was running full blast. He had showered. He had an ice pack on his shoulder and one on each knee. He was thirty-two years old. Twelve years as a professional. Since 2016, he had been working full time for Rocky Mountain Wrestling. He’d been their top wrestler. He was the assistant trainer at the wrestling school. Tonight, he had been in an in-ring war with the man from Los Angeles, Fro Sure. Fro was a big brawler and rapper who had been plying his trade in the Warehouse in Los Angeles. In the dirt and grime -- in the blood-splattered canvas and concrete that Brother Grimm had taken pride in before he had closed up shop.</p><p> </p><p> Riley knew that his match with Fro was going to be rough. Fro was not the most polished wrestler in the world. He had charisma and star quality. He could take a beating -- but about twenty percent of his strikes were going to land for real. Riley was fine with that. He was a good ole’ boy from Georgia, after all. You couldn’t be Southern if you couldn’t take a punch. It was practically a rite of passage, but still. Riley wasn’t a young man anymore. He wasn’t old -- not by a long shot -- but he wasn’t in the early years of his career. His body had taken a lot of beatings. He’d taken a lot of bumps during his run as the big babyface of the company -- he had to. It came with the territory. He had to sell and take a beating. Now he was the heel -- so he didn’t take as many bumps but the bumps he did take had to be more spectacular, had to make the babyface look like a million bucks. Riley took pride in his ability to make his opponent look good and he did that tonight.</p><p> </p><p> He looked around his RV. He had been living in his RV since 2016. It was still parked behind the Oxford Arena. Robert had tried to convince Riley to rent an apartment, but Riley wasn’t interested in renting an apartment or a house. He liked his RV. He liked being close to the building. He could work out when he wanted to. He didn’t have to worry about getting too drunk to drive home. Plus, at night, it was incredibly quiet.</p><p> </p><p> He adjusted the ice pack against his shoulder and sat at the dining nook. He had a cold beer, a bottle of water, a piece of chicken with green beans and some rice. It was going to be a quiet night for him. He took a swig of his beer and sighed. He took a bite of food and reached for the television remote. There was a knock on the door of his RV.</p><p> </p><p> Riley grunted as he pulled himself to his feet and lumbered the short distance to the door. He didn’t check it as he pushed it open.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="9CEP5Gv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9CEP5Gv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> She stood there. Hair damp from her post-show shower. Dressed in the athletic-leisure wear that had become so popular in the last few years. She was holding a six pack in her left hand and a bag of some sort of food in her right hand. She smiled at him. He couldn’t help but smile back.</p><p> </p><p> They hadn’t told anyone about their relationship yet. Not his parents. Not her parents. He was pretty sure Barry could kill him -- even at fifty four years old. It had been about three months since they started seeing each other. She had been dating Roderick Remus for awhile, but that ended when he signed with the Eisens and she wasn’t offered a deal. She wanted to be with someone she could see. Plus, she was living in Denver at an apartment she shared with Marjorie.</p><p> </p><p> Lisa looked around and then looked back at him. “Are you going to let me in?”</p><p> </p><p> Riley shook himself out of his stupor and stepped aside. “Of course. C’mon in.” </p><p> </p><p> She laughed as she climbed into his RV and took the beer and food to the kitchen counter. She looked at the food Riley had prepared. “You didn’t want to make me any chicken?”</p><p> </p><p> “I didn’t think you were coming over tonight. I thought you had said you and Marjorie were going out after the show.” He tried to explain. He knew she wasn’t mad. She never got mad. That was something he liked about her. She didn’t get angry, she didn’t judge him for living in his RV. She liked it. Thought it was cozy. She had even commondered one of his dresser drawers. She spent maybe three nights a week over with him.</p><p> </p><p> “That’s tomorrow. I picked up some barbecue from Dale’s. They stayed open late ‘cause of our show. You want some?” She asked as she began to pull styrofoam containers out of the plastic bag.</p><p> </p><p> “Is there tri tip?”</p><p> </p><p> “Yep. And baked beans. And mac n’ cheese, cole slaw, some smoked pineapple, and that spicy sauce you really like.”</p><p> </p><p> Riley rubbed a hand over his stomach. “Absolutely.” He put his plate of chicken in the fridge as Lisa plated up their dinner. He stopped her by wrapping his arms around her from behind. She leaned back against him.. They stayed like this for a long moment before she pushed him away.</p><p> </p><p> “I gotta get this food on plates. Sit down.” She playfully reprimanded him for distracting him. He listened to her and slid into the padded seat of the dining nook. She brought a plate of food over for him and then one for herself. She grabbed herself a beer and slid across from him. She tucked a leg under her. </p><p> </p><p> They didn’t say anything. They just began to eat. Not in uncomfortable silence. In the kind of silence that comes from just being happy being near someone. Riley McManus had spent almost a decade as a wrestler before he made it to Rocky Mountain Wrestling. He had spent time from September 2011 to January of 2016 without full-time wrestling work. He thought that he was going to be out of wrestling. Or that at the very least he would never make it -- that he was just going to be a weekend warrior on the pop up independent shows in Georgia and North Florida. Then Robert Oxford called. Now it’s been three and a half years since. He was Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Champion for the second time. He was, without ego, the cornerstone of the company. The loyal soldier. He was helping train young wrestlers -- and he had a woman who understood him. Who had the same goals as him. It was new for him. He liked it. He was happy.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I know how much Reaper enjoys the relationship narratives and a new relationship happened in my game so I figured I would write about it -- and it gives Riley something more to do from a narrative stand point.</div></blockquote>

We had put on our best match ever at the second annual Robert Oxford Invitational -- a show that was also our best show ever from a commercial and critical standpoint. The Summer Spectacular event had gone over well. Riley was settling into being the heel champion nicely. Primus had his first singles match since coming back from his victory in the sport of mixed martial arts. Clyde was adjusting nicely to the main roster and main shows. He had all of the potential in the world. The tag division feud between The Diaz Cousins and The Devil’s Rejects was developing nicely. I loved Logan. I had groomed him since I signed him. James was developing nicely. Logan had finally gotten a tour of Japan -- with Black Canvas Grappling. He was starting to get that international renown that he deserved. I had plans for Logan back in the Heavyweight title picture -- or maybe bigger plans with as good as he was becoming. He was consistently putting on the best performances for us. Riley was our cornerstone, but Logan was proving to be just as valuable and James could develop into the same quality performer for us.</p><p> </p><p> I logged onto TotalExtremeWrestling.com to check the halfway awards. The first thing I saw was The Big Problem, Petr Novak, was leaving USPW. His tag partner had retired so he had been floundering with nothing to do. While I had never been a big fan of his -- he was big, popular, and could prove to be a valuable name addition for us as we tried to develop some of our younger babyface talent.</p><p> </p><p> I clicked over to the awards.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="TotalExtremeWrestling.com" data-cite="TotalExtremeWrestling.com" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Wrestler of the Year So Far</strong> -- “Angry” Tom Gilmore [sOTBW]<p> <strong>Company of the Year So Far</strong> - Pride Glory Honor Wrestling</p><p> <strong>Team of the Year so Far</strong> - Red Scourge (Blood Raven and Pirata Malvado) [sOTBW]</p><p> <strong>Match of the Year so Far</strong> - Kozume Kawashima def Yoshimi Mushashibo from PGHW Hell Hole Tour [PGHW]</p><p> <strong>Show of the Year so Far </strong>- Batalla de las Mascaras [sOTBW]</p><p> <strong>Young Wrestler of the Year so Far </strong>- Jacqueleen Morel [uSPW]</p><p> <strong>Veteran Wrestler of the Year So Far</strong> - Pablo Rodriguez [sOTBW]</p><p> <strong>Female Wrestler of the Year So Far</strong> - Brooke Tyler [NOTBW]</p><p> <strong>Independent Wrestler of the Year so Far</strong> - Jagged</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> None of these surprised me. Gilmore was a sensational talent that had almost come to TCW in 2010 -- not many people knew that, but he was close. PGHW is having a resurgence as Burning Hammer continues to try and figure out their footing after the accountants took a sizable amount of money from them. South of the Border had an incredible roster that could put on incredible shows. The House of Stone Dojo had turned out a stud in Morel -- and then he had shocked the wrestling world in going to USPW last month.</p><p> </p><p> I had some plans for the rest of 2019 -- some plans that I thought could really make the second half of 2019 special. We had a couple of more dates on the Keiths. There were a couple of other talents that I wanted to explore.</p><p> </p><p> I continued to click on the website and I noticed a Rest in Peace column. I hated these but I had to click.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="MLjkDQQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MLjkDQQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> Luis Montero</p><p> August 1957 - July 2019. 61 years old.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Luis had been one of the true greats of lucha libre. With Luis’ passing, Amazonas de Lucha Libre was left without an owner and booker. That was going to be crucial to watch. OLLIE had already been taken over by Axxis Jr. when Soler retired, now with another Mexican company experiencing a change in ownership…</p><p> </p><p> Luis’ death made me think of all the other wrestlers who had died in the past few years.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>RIP 2016-2019</strong></p><p> Jebediah</p><p> Air Attack Weasel</p><p> Ajax the Skull Splitter</p><p> Benito Garcia</p><p> Danger Kumasaka</p><p> Dread</p><p> Flying Jimmy Fox</p><p> George DeColt</p><p> Grandmaster Phunk</p><p> J.P. Friends. Co workers. Guys I had known well. Legends. Guys in their prime. Guys who had bright futures. I took a slow drink from my coffee. Now I had to turn my focus towards Rocky Mountain Live and putting a card together…</p>

<p>Rocky Mountain Wrestling Live #18 had been a big success. We shocked our fans when El Mitico Jr defeated Franklin Rush to win the Can-Am Championship. Rush was not getting the call up to the main roster, but I also wanted to keep it fresh and keep the fans guessing. I did not want them to get too comfortable with any one Can-Am Champion. While I preferred Heavyweight Champions to have reigns with a little more length, the Can-Am Championship was designed to change hands a little more frequently. Joel had held it for eight months to get it started but now I wanted to settle into the routine of having the title bounce around a bit.</p><p> </p><p> Now we were on to Independence -- which would set up for Gold Rush in August. In our main event of the evening, the Confederation of the Territories World Junior Heavyweight Championship will be defended in Rocky Mountain Wrestling for the first time since October 2017. <p>We had gotten through our nineteenth edition of RMW Live. Mitico and Bison did a great job. I had big plans for Bison and with the Top Graduate tournament coming up next month, I was counting on him to be a major player in that. I had a soft spot for Mitico -- he was one of the first guys I signed when I opened up shop and I was glad to have him back.</p><p> </p><p> My focus was onto Gold Rush now. For the second year in a row, it was going to be a two night event. It was our fourth Gold Rush. It was beginning to get some name value and name recognition. I wanted to put it on part with the Oxford Invitational -- which in its two presentations have been very well received.</p><p> </p><p> I looked down at the line ups for the two nights. Hopefully this would be our best Gold Rush tournament yet.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="RockyMountainWrestling.com" data-cite="RockyMountainWrestling.com" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><img alt="UOoGYsp.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/UOoGYsp.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Night One</span></p><p> Saturday, Week 4, August 2019</p><p> Live at the Oxford Arena, Special 7:00 PM </p><p> Also Aired On Demand on the Rocky Mountain Sports Network</p><p> </p><p> Main Event</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Sixty Minute Time Limit</p><p> Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Championship</p><p> Matthew Keith versus “The Cornerstone” Riley McManus w/ Jeffrey Aroma</p><p> </p><p> Semi Main Event</p><p> Tag Team Match</p><p> Forty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Rocky Mountain Tag Team Championship</p><p> State of Destruction versus The Diaz Cousins</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block B</p><p> “Bad, Bad” Lenny Brown versus “The Evolution” Primus Allen w/ Lisa Bowen</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block B</p><p> Fro Sure versus The Legendary Fox Mask, Representing CZCW</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block B</p><p> NOTBW’s Greg Keith versus “The French Canadian MVP” Marcel LeFleur</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block B</p><p> Acid versus “Remarkable” Steve Flash representing NYCW</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block A</p><p> “The Hillbilly Hammer” Clyde Puder versus King Kong Kennedy</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block A</p><p> “Mr. Impact” Hugh Ancrie versus Frantic Ali</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block A</p><p> Mid Atlantic Wrestling’s Hal Havard versus “The Straight Shooter” Joel Bryant</p><p> </p><p> Gold Rush Tournament Opening Round</p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit</p><p> Block A</p><p> Chill versus Ox Mastadon</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Night One was full of good potential match ups and was allowing us to present a lot of talent. Presale for both nights were tremendous -- we were on track to sell out both shows at three thousand fans apiece. That would be a huge weekend for us from an attendance standpoint. If we sell 6,000 tickets in one weekend? That's a sign that we made it.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>And here are the cards for Gold Rush! I will post both shows back to back so they can be read as one consecutive show.</div></blockquote>
