We are coming to you from Perry Hall and we are fresh off the heels of the eighth annual Wrestling Summit. Before we get into that, as always, I am joined in the broadcast booth by a true legend in the sport, Ricky Dale Johnson. Ricky, what did you think of Wrestling Summit?</p><p> </p><p> RDJ: I thought it was an incredible night of professional wrestling. Riley McManus and Spencer Spade beat the holy hell out of one another. Those were two men that clearly wanted to leave the Theatre of Dreams with the North American Heavyweight Championship. They left it all out there. Blood, sweat, pride. They did everything they could and it clearly showed. </p><p> </p><p> LB: And at the end of the night, Riley McManus was still champion. Now, neither he or Spencer Spade have been medically cleared to be here tonight so we do not expect to see them. We do have our first qualifying match for the Oxford Invitational Tournament and KC Glenn and Hammer Hadley will be going one on one for the Television Championship. Who will become the first Television Champion? Find out tonight!</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="GNkzKok.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GNkzKok.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opening Match</strong></p><p> Tag Team Match</p><p> Fifteen Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Oxford Invitational Qualifier</span></p><p> <img alt="DHAvyKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DHAvyKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="0Gyuvsd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/0Gyuvsd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="KZNtLmC.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KZNtLmC.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="DnIPXIt.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DnIPXIt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> The Heartbreak Express versus The Fighting Irish</p><p> </p><p> In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, The Heartbreak Express defeated The Fighting Irish in 8:50 when Ralph Liotta defeated Robbie McNamara by pinfall with a Swinging Neckbreaker.</p><p> <img alt="8x5Bau7.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8x5Bau7.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><img alt="srxUTzk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/srxUTzk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> We go backstage where “Pistol” Pete Hall is standing behind a desk.</p><p> </p><p> PH: “Hello ladies and gentlemen. What an opening contest that was. The Heartbreak Express are now officially entered into the Sixth Annual Oxford Invitational tournament. Congratulations to them. Now, at Wrestling Summit VIII, The Mission and David Stone became the final World Six Man Tag Team Champions. The decision was made by the Global Wrestling Council to no longer sanction official World Titles for Six Man contests. However, the Global Wrestling Council is introducing a World Openweight Championship. The Openweight Championship will be defended all over the world and will be defended with no weight classes. Next week on Saturday Night Slammasters, we will crown the first ever World Openweight Champion when Matty Faith, Ranger, and David Stone all step into the ring with one another. Brooke Tyler is an incredible wrestler. She’s got an incredible pedigree. She’s the North American Women’s Champion. She’s an incredible performer. An incredible athlete. I have nothing but respect for her, but I’ve waited my whole career for an opportunity of this magnitude. I’ve fought and clawed and survived and thrived. I’ve busted my ass for a chance to make it to the big stage and I’m here on the big stage. The spotlight is on me and I will not shrink in it. I will not succumb to the moment. I will become North American Women’s Champion!”</p><p> <img alt="vPM9lw6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vPM9lw6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Singles Match</strong></p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <img alt="8gxntli.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gxntli.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="h4VCDrQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h4VCDrQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="r6lt0U8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/r6lt0U8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> KC Glenn versus Hammer Hadley</p><p> </p><p> In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, KC Glenn defeated Hammer Hadley in 14:04 by pinfall with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band. I’ve been waiting for most of the show. I have a very important announcement. At Wrestling Summit VIII, Riley McManus unfairly brutalized Spencer Spade when he drove him into that ladder with a Slingshot Suplex. It was completely unnecessary and I am exploring sanctions against Mr. McManus for the attack. In addition, that attack has put Spencer Spade, a supreme athlete and the most important individual talent in the Continental Wrestling League in the hospital with broken ribs, his kidney is bruised, he can barely breathe. It’s a travesty. I will keep you all updated on Spencer Spade’s health in the coming weeks. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get Ash ready for the main event tonight.”</p><p> <img alt="8x5Bau7.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8x5Bau7.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Main Event</strong></p><p> Four Way Dance</p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Number One Contender’s Match</span></p><p> <img alt="LqKqiEK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LqKqiEK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="6LhAn6l.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6LhAn6l.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="y9l6Ubu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/y9l6Ubu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="gVR6xaP.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gVR6xaP.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LwiCz3j.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LwiCz3j.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Matthew Keith versus James Diaz versus Clyde Puder versus Ash Campbell w/ Lisa Bowen</p><p> </p><p> In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Ash Campbell defeated Matthew Keith, Clyde Puder and James Diaz in 18:09 when Ash Campbell defeated James Diaz by pinfall with a Shooting Star Press.</p><p> <img alt="LTiTJNd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LTiTJNd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><img alt="y9l6Ubu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/y9l6Ubu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="6LhAn6l.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6LhAn6l.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> Ash Campbell rolls out of the ring celebrating his victory. First International Team Announced

Continental Wrestling League is pleased to announce that, for the first time in history, The Foreign Legion will be appearing in the United States as they compete in the sixth annual Oxford Invitational tournament. The Foreign Legion have been a tag team since 2005 and are made up of twin brothers Pierre and Jacques DuPont. While tag team gold has eluded the duo in their seventeen year career, The Foreign Legion are among the most respected European teams in professional wrestling. When reached for comment, Jacques DuPont said that he and his brother were “incredibly excited to make our North American debut and to teach those smelly Americans something about class and proper technical wrestling.”

Second International Team Announced

Continental Wrestling League is pleased to announce that Rhino Umaga and Samoan Machine, collectively known as Samoan Destruction, Inc. will be returning to CWL for the sixth annual Oxford Invitational. Samoan Destruction Inc. are four time GCG World Tag Team Champions and have been teaming together for almost twenty years -- since 2004. They are known as one of the most powerful and brutal tag teams in history. Incredibly feared, they currently work for Australian Pro Wrestling. When reached for comments about appearing in the tournament, Rhino said they were coming to “Destroy every mother f***er in our way until the God d*mn trophy is ours.”

Top Independent Tag Team Announced for Oxford Invitational

Continental Wrestling League is pleased to announce that reigning COTT World Tag Team Champions have been signed to compete in the sixth annual Oxford Invitational Tournament. The team of “Jungle” Jack Marlowe and Joffy Laine have been the reigning, defending COTT World Tag Team Champions since August of 2021 and have managed (as of this writing) twelve successful defenses. This is their second reign as COTT World Tag Team Champions -- they held the belts for a short time in 2019 as well. Marlowe is a twenty-nine year pro while Laine has been a professional for eleven years. Based out of Puerto Rico, the duo is hoping to prove themselves amongst the elite in all of professional wrestling.

Dynamite Express to return for Oxford Invitational

Continental Wrestling League is pleased to announce that former three-time Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions The Dynamite Express are returning to CWL for the Oxford Invitational. The duo is in their thirteenth year as a team and most recently spent the last several years as one of the key tag teams in Supreme Wrestling Federation -- having several major feuds but were unable to crack consistent title contention. They both recently made the decision to leave SWF and see if they could have more luck in a different environment and were immediately signed on to compete for the Oxford Invitational Tournament.

When asked about the incoming duo, CWL Matchmaker “Pistol” Pete Hall said that, “The Dynamite Express is one of the most fluid tag teams I’ve ever seen. They have incredible fundamentals and the kind of teamwork that comes with thirteen years of experience teaming. The CWL can only benefit as an organization from having such an accomplished and talented duo in the Oxford Invitational.”

The video starts with Logan and James, the Diaz Cousins and the newly minted North American Tag Team Champions staring at the camera. They are back in their barn, with their ring and their weights and all of that get up. The Diaz Cousins, from North Florida (close to the Florida/Georgia Line) speak with that North Florida accent. Both cousins are wearing sleeveless work out shirts that say "Welcome to the Meatlocker."

Logan, "Me and James just got online not too long ago. Went over to the CWL website and what did we see? Names being mentioned of who's gonna be in this Oxford Invitational Tournament. They bringing in some names. Samoan Destruction, Incorporated."

James, "Big names."

Logan, "The Foreign Legion from Europe."

James, "Big names."

Logan, "The COTT Tag Team Champions, Jungle Jack and Joffy Laine."

James, "Big name and a half."

Logan, "And even the Dynamite Express are coming back for this tournament. Right back from SWF."

James, "Big names. Definitely big names."

Logan, "But you know who ain't in this tournament? The Diaz Cousins. 'Cause we're the best tag team in Continental Wrestling League. We ain't entering, because of one reason. We're gonna give the winners -- whomever they are, wherever they primarily work -- we're gonna give them shots at the North American Tag Team Championship. 'Cause we're fighting champions. We bring that heat."

James, "You're damn right. We're about the fight. We're about the pressure. We're about proving the Diaz family from top to bottom is the best family in professional wrestling. The Diaz Cousins are the most dangerous duo in all of professional wrestling. So we don't care if it's the Foreign Legion. We don't care if it's the Dynamite Express of the Heartbreak Express or anyone else. You win this tournament, you get us. You win this tournament, you get the ass whoopin' of a lifetime."

Logan, "'Cause we run things here. We are the CWL. We the top dogs. We the allstars. We the first team. We're who you gotta beat. So when you win that trophy, understand that as prestigious as it is. As great of a moment as it will be for you... It just means you're gonna get in the ring with Logan and James Diaz. You're going to enter the Meatlocker. And you won't walk out."

The video fades to black.

Author's Note: I'd like to take a minute to thank the fantastic ReapeR. You may notice that we have been rolling out brand new championship belt designs in the CWL. All of the new belts [CWL and GWC Openweight] have been made by the fantastic ReapeR for my use. He has done some sensational work and I wanted to make sure he gets a special shoutout for it. So give The Godfather of Belts some love!

Baby you a song, you make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise! :D

That, or the reference was unintentional and you're currently thinking "WTF?" :p

I was thinking more "You get your hands in it

Plant your roots in it

Dusty head lights dance with your boots in it (dirt)

You write her name on it

Spin your tires on it

Build your corn field, whiskey

Bonfires on it (dirt)

You bet your life on it..."

At least I got the reference! Fun fact, I discovered FGL on my flight across the Atlantic for Wrestlemania 30! :D

Diaz Cousins summoning their inner Briscoes is best for business. I will forever visualize and hear their heel promos as if delivered by dem boys.

Keith Holly, the newly minted United States Champion, is in front of the CWL backdrop.</p><p> </p><p>

Holly, “I was going to make an appearance on Saturday Night Slammasters, but I was a little too busy celebrating my win. No one thought I’d do it. You didn’t believe in big Keith Holly. You thought that the Japanese Warrior, ol’ Lionheart, Funakoshi was going to be able to put me down. Why? Did y’all forget that I’m so bad the Devil wouldn’t take me. ‘Cause he knows that I’m that bad. I’m the guy who’s been leadin’ the Rejects since we got to CWL. Leading the Rejects to four North American and one World Tag Team title reign. I’m that guy. I’m six feet seven and damn near three hundred seventy pounds of ass kicker. Ain’t a man in that locker room I’m afraid of. You thought Funakoshi was going to beat me? You thought that a man with the heart of a lion was going to survive a man that’s done been rejected by the Devil? You were out of your minds. That’s the God damned truth.”</p><p> </p><p>

Holly raises the United States Championship in front of him.</p><p> </p><p>

Holly, “The CWL is my domain. Nothin’ happens here without my say so. Me and Johnny, we keep the order. We keep things moving. It’s us. You want to make it here, you go through us. You want to survive here, you go through us. You want to prove you’re a man, you go through us. Now, I’m the United States Champion. Things are going to continue to go through me. KC Glenn is the Television Champion now. He defends it seven times, he can come at me. Anybody else wants a shot at me, they can line up and I’ll knock ‘em down. This is my yard. I bury the bodies ‘round here. And understand that it is a lot easier to give up than it is to get through me. ‘Cause the path to wrestling immortality goes through me and it’s a hell of a path to walk.”</p><p> </p><p>

Holly pulls the United States Championship back to his shoulder.</p><p> </p><p>

Holly, “And Funakoshi. I know you’re mad. You’re probably furious. You feel you got the short end of the stick ‘cause you were United States Champion and now you’re not. I’d be mad about that too, but face facts. You lost to the better man. You got to get in the ring with me and you got to be made famous. You’re damn lucky. ‘Cause everyone is gonna remember the night I whooped your ass and became United States Champion. So welcome to the history books.</p><p> </p><p>

But first, Pistol Pete Hall is standing by backstage with an important announcement for the Oxford Invitational Tournament.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="GNkzKok.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GNkzKok.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><img alt="srxUTzk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/srxUTzk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="wRw12Rl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wRw12Rl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> We go backstage where CWL matchmaker “Pistol” Pete Hall is standing next to former United States champion, Funakoshi.</p><p> </p><p> PH: “At Wrestling Summit VIII, Funakoshi lost the United States Championship in rather unfortunate circumstances. I am not an individual to overrule a referee decision, but I do recognize an injustice that needs to be fixed. The sixth annual Oxford Invitational is coming up and the decision was already made to enter the Devil’s Rejects -- one of the most accomplished tag teams in CWL history -- into the tournament. I have made the decision to allow Funakoshi to enter the tournament with a partner of his choosing and face the Devil’s Rejects. I will allow Funakoshi to announce his partner right now.”</p><p> </p><p> Funakoshi steps forward and in a heavy, but understandable, accent -- he speaks.</p><p> Funakoshi: “My partner will be…. BUNRAKUKEN TORRI!”</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="JO6j4PR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/JO6j4PR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The former BCG standout that is now employed by PGHW steps into the camera view. He says nothing but raises a forearm up to the camera. Due to time spent in WLW after the collapse of BCG and before being picked up by PGHW -- he has been seen in America on Pay Per View and is quite well known.</p><p> </p><p> PH: “There you have it! In the first round of the Oxford Invitational, the Devil’s Rejects will take on The Last of the Lions!”</p><p> <img alt="vPM9lw6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vPM9lw6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opening Match</strong></p><p> Singles Match</p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <img alt="8gxntli.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gxntli.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <img alt="KsAIk4j.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KsAIk4j.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="h4VCDrQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h4VCDrQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> “Mr. Impact” Hugh Ancrie versus KC Glenn ©</p><p> </p><p> In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, KC Glenn defeated Hugh Ancrie in 10:40 by pinfall with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band. Currently, they field the World Tag Team Champions. As such, the number one seed in the Oxford Invitational Tournament will go to Bowen Services and the world Tag Team Champions. We are coming to you live on Pay Per View from the sold out Theatre of Dreams. Thank you for welcoming us in to your homes on this Friday night. I’m Lee Bambino and I’m joined in the broadcast booth by former World Champion and Hall of Fame wrestler, “The Sheriff” Ricky Dale Johnson. Ricky, tonight we have eight first round matches for America’s most prestigious tag team invitational. Teams from all of the world are here this weekend to compete for the opportunity to raise the Oxford Invitational trophy. What would a win in this tournament do for a career?</p><p> </p><p> RDJ: It immediately elevates a team into title contention. The Diaz Cousins have already stated they will defend the North American Tag Team Championship against the winning team. You also have to imagine if a team like The Foreign Legion or Samoan Destruction, Inc. were to win they would get championship opportunities in their respective home companies. A win for a team like The Mission or The Fallen or Homegrown could also secure themselves a World Tag Team Title opportunity in the future based off of their pedigree and successes -- so it is a very big opportunity for every team in the tournament.</p><p> </p><p> LB: That’s not all that’s going on tonight. In our main event, Riley McManus defends the North American Heavyweight Championship against Ash Campbell. Campbell will be representing Bowen Services as they attempt to reclaim the Heavyweight Championship. </p><p> </p><p> RDJ: That should be a hell of a match. Riley McManus has never looked as good as he has these past few months since winning the championship at the Seventh Anniversary show. If he can keep that momentum going, he’s going to be hard to beat. Ash Campbell is the son of Hall of Fame wrestler Nemesis. He’s incredibly tough and versatile in the ring and with Lisa Bowen in his corner he could find himself Heavyweight Champion tonight. </p><p> </p><p> LB: There is only one way to find out. Let’s go ringside for our first match up -- The Heartbreak Express versus the number one seed C-V-2.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="GNkzKok.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GNkzKok.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opening Match</strong></p><p> Tag Team Match</p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Oxford Invitational Opening Round</span></p><p> <img alt="DHAvyKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DHAvyKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="0Gyuvsd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/0Gyuvsd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="mgsmc0P.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mgsmc0P.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="RpmU1JL.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RpmU1JL.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LwiCz3j.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LwiCz3j.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> The Heartbreak Express versus C-V-2 w/ Lisa Bowen</p><p> </p><p> C-V-2 had not teamed in years before this match up, but they didn’t look like they had missed a beat as they took it right to the Heartbreak Express. The Express sold their asses off for C-V-2. They bumped all over the ring and made sure that C-V-2 looked like stars. A missed clothesline from Casey Valentine opened up the Express to make a big comeback. Several big dropkicks -- including a big double dropkick. The crowd really started getting behind the Heartbreak Express. Valentine came charging in and a double backbody drop sent him over the top rope and crashing to the floor.</p><p> </p><p> Ralph Liotta hit Cameron Vessey with a big swinging neckbreaker -- his trademark move before tagging in Johnny Needham who climbed to the top rope. The crowd began to boo -- because here came big Jeffery Aroma. The monster hit the ring while Lisa Bowen had Ray Johnson’s attention, demanding that he disqualify the Heartbreak Express for what they did to Casey. Ralph came charging at Aroma -- who immediately hit him with a huge spinebuster. Johnny lept towards him and got punched out of the air. Johnny fell back into the turnbuckle. Aroma is grabbed from behind on his shoulder and he turns -- without thinking, and blasts Cameron Vessey right in the face. Vessey dropped like a sack of potatoes and Aroma’s eyes went wide -- but he had to bail out of the ring before Ray Johnson turned around and disqualified C-V-2.</p><p> </p><p> Aroma left the ring and Needham collapsed onto the knocked out Cameron Vessey. Johnson made the three count and the number sixteen seed upset the number one seed!</p><p> </p><p> The Heartbreak Express defeated C-V-2 in 10:11 when Johnny Needham defeated Cameron Vessey by pinfall following botched interference by Jeffery Aroma.</p><p> <img alt="e5wmXmn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/e5wmXmn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team Match</strong></p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Oxford Invitational Opening Round</span></p><p> <img alt="wRw12Rl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wRw12Rl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="JO6j4PR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/JO6j4PR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ZPSijPY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZPSijPY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ZjCgexS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZjCgexS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LC8rqZh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LC8rqZh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> The Last of the Lions versus The Devil’s Rejects w/ February Malaise</p><p> </p><p> Before this match even started, the fans were on their feet. First of all, they *hate* The Devil’s Rejects. The boos for the most successful team in CWL history were defeaning. Second of all, they were incredibly excited to see Bunrakuken Torii live in the flesh. “Machine Gun” has carved out a reputation for himself over his fourteen year career as being one of the best wrestlers on the planet and his team with fellow BCG alumnus Funakoshi has some of the diehards in attendance salivating.</p><p> </p><p> The two teams did not disappoint. From the opening bell, this was an incredibly physical match up between two teams they don’t like each other. Funakoshi started for his team and came out like a man possessed -- a man who wants his United States Championship back. A man with a mission. The Rejects didn’t back down and the two teams went at each other full tilt. Back and forth. Big strikes where done by all. Holly and Anderson hit a Big Boot Backdrop Driver combination onto Funakoshi that was just wicked -- but Torii was the legal man and he hit both members of the Rejects with a Spinning Forearm Smash that landed flush on each one and allowed him to pick up the pinfall victory in a thrilling contest.</p><p> </p><p> Funakoshi and Bunrakuken Torii defeated The Devil's Rejects in 13:21 when Bunrakuken Torii defeated Johnny Anderson by pinfall with a Spinning Forearm Smash.</p><p> <img alt="LTiTJNd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LTiTJNd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><img alt="mgsmc0P.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mgsmc0P.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="o3PEmtO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/o3PEmtO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> We cut backstage where a cameraman appears to be peering around a corner at a scene we are not supposed to be seeing. Cameron Vessey and Jeffery Aroma are standing almost nose to nose. Arguing. We aren’t close enough to tell what they’re saying, but it’s clear that Cameron isn’t happy with Aroma -- and Aroma isn’t happy either. Aroma shoves Vessey away from him and turns and storms out as the cameraman high tails it to not get caught.</p><p> <img alt="bNNwRE0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bNNwRE0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team Match</strong></p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Oxford Invitational Opening Round</span></p><p> <img alt="6GWxgaq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6GWxgaq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="aSwZ8cs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aSwZ8cs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="VeciEn1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VeciEn1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="D0y3YUj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D0y3YUj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> The Foreign Legion versus Samoan Destruction, Inc</p><p> </p><p> A very underwhelming match here. Both teams have a world of experience, but the fans were just not nearly as into seeing the Foreign Legion -- who also seemed really off of their game against Samoan Destruction Inc. Fortunately, it did not last long and a Rhino Charge from Rhino to Jacques punched the Samoans tickets to the second round.</p><p> </p><p> Samoan Destruction Inc. defeated The Foreign Legion in 7:10 when Rhino Umaga defeated Jacques DuPont by pinfall with a Rhino Charge.</p><p> <img alt="EjdrcWN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/EjdrcWN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team Match</strong></p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Oxford Invitational Opening Round</span></p><p> <img alt="b9yP5Es.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/b9yP5Es.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="F4wLsLn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/F4wLsLn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="4gOBeGJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4gOBeGJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="CVF6M0V.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CVF6M0V.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Edd & David Stone versus European Stretching Crew</p><p> </p><p> Uncle and Nephew teaming up for the first time against a very capable technical wrestling duo. This was a very technical based match up. They went hold for hold and back and forth. It was a great technical display that the crowd really got into. Edd and David showed the natural chemistry that comes with being family. David hit a beautiful German Suplex on Nigel Svensson and the Stones were onto the next round.</p><p> </p><p> Edd Stone and David Stone defeated European Stretching Crew in 14:22 when David Stone defeated Nigel Svensson by pinfall with a German Suplex.</p><p> <img alt="LTiTJNd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LTiTJNd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><img alt="H9RnzgB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/H9RnzgB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LwiCz3j.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LwiCz3j.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> AC: Tonight… Tonight I fulfill my destiny. Parissi is a new arrival to CWL and looking to establish herself as a force in the division while Handley has had some success but has not really gotten over the plateau into full blown stardom as a female wrestler. The two women had an okay match, but Parissi seemed a little tentative on the big stage. Her Swinging Neckbreaker finish was very vicious looking though and definitely got the job done.</p><p> </p><p> Toni Parissi defeated Houston Handley in 13:13 by pinfall with a Swinging Neckbreaker.</p><p> <img alt="8x5Bau7.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8x5Bau7.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team Match</strong></p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <img alt="y9l6Ubu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/y9l6Ubu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="2NhBQ8m.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2NhBQ8m.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="MQYkqAT.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MQYkqAT.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="bm8kseY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bm8kseY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Oxford Invitational Opening Round</p><p> Homegrown versus Precious Metals</p><p> </p><p> The Precious Metals had the opportunity of a lifetime here. The reigning Texas Tag Team Champions came out with their belts and looked great -- in their entrance -- while Homegrown, former two-time North American Tag and former World Tag Team Champions came out with a lot of fire. It wasn’t a long match, but it was filled with fire. Homegrown had that country boy fire that carried them through the Precious Metals -- who came with a lot of fire themselves. Puder hit his devastating Patriot Powerslam on Ryan Steel and the Texas Tag Team Champions came up short.</p><p> </p><p> Homegrown defeated The Precious Metals in 8:31 when Clyde Puder defeated Ryan Steel by pinfall with a Patriot Powerslam.</p><p> <img alt="ZSlyKQ6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZSlyKQ6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team Match</strong></p><p> Twenty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Oxford Invitational Opening Round</span></p><p> <img alt="davwhDd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/davwhDd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="RsWzSDz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RsWzSDz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Vd1SG09.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vd1SG09.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="29HR9VY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/29HR9VY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Jungle Jack & Joffy Laine versus The Dynamite Express</p><p> </p><p> The COTT World Tag Team Champions against former three-time Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions. A solid match that limited Jungle Jack -- who is clearly well passed his prime physically and even though the match was only ten minutes was huffing wind by the end of it. He’s almost fifty though, so it’s probably excusable. The Express got to showcase the team work that made them must-see when they were in MAW. Cameron Jones hit a beautiful Fisherman’s Suplex on Jungle Jack and got the three count and punched the Express’ ticket to the next round.</p><p> </p><p> The Dynamite Express defeated Jungle Jack and Joffy Laine in 10:08 when Cameron Jones defeated Jungle Jack by pinfall with a Fisherman's Suplex.</p><p> <img alt="ZSlyKQ6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZSlyKQ6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><img alt="IAGdngG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IAGdngG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="goVDjy6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/goVDjy6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> We are treated to a hype package for tomorrow night’s co main event. This was the first time Rush and Mastadon have teamed and they showed good natural chemistry, though Ox still does not seem like the athlete he once was. That major concussion he suffered seems to have some lingering effects -- but Rush more than made up for it. Faith came out with the World Openweight Championship and he looked like he is really coming into his own as a star wrestler and might be outgrowing his team with Ranger. Faith and Rush had a great exchange that ended up with Faith hitting a Faith Falls Eternal to punch The Mission -- who have also won this tournament before -- into the next round and a match up with The Fallen.</p><p> </p><p> The Mission defeated Ox Mastadon and Franklin Rush in 11:17 when Matty Faith defeated Franklin Rush by pinfall with a Faith Falls Eternal.</p><p> <img alt="LTiTJNd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LTiTJNd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><img alt="HXLpdxw.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HXLpdxw.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> RM: As a boy, I only wanted one thing. I achieved my goals and my dreams and it has been better than I could ever imagine. I walk out that curtain and I feel it in my bones. This is who I am. This is what I was meant to do. I know what Ash Campbell wants. I know what he’s willing to do to get what he wants -- but the one problem is, in just a few minutes he will be standing across the ring from me. He will have to look me in the eye and understand that this Southern boy, this wrestler ain’t afraid of nothing. Continuing the trend of big fight feels in CWL main events, this felt like a big deal. Ash Campbell came to the ring looking a little crazy, a little more like his father than maybe he’d like to admit -- a little more like a man on the brink of a breakdown. Riley McManus looked like a Heavyweight Champion who had found himself. A man who was taking the next step in his career, reaching that next stratosphere.</p><p> </p><p> Senior referee Darren Smith announced that this match would be contested under ‘relaxed’ rules -- which means that while disqualifications were still a thing, he also allowed the two men to fight -- and fight they did. Ash Campbell hit a gear seldom seen in the second generation superstar. He and Riley had a brawl that would have made Shane Sneer proud. Ash fought like his father. At one point, Ash and Riley were ringside and Ash got onto the apron and hit a running front flip cannonball thing onto Riley. </p><p> </p><p> Neither man bled in this match, but they beat the hell out of each other and the crowd was into every single thing they were doing. Riley hit a back body drop on Ash that sent him over the guardrail and into the first two rows of chairs -- thankfully fans moved out of the way before Ash crashed into them.</p><p> </p><p> Ash hit a moonsault from the ring apron onto a standing Riley that sent both crashing into the guardrail and rolled Riley in. Ash went for the Shooting Star Press that he is known for -- and it was beautiful -- he got superb elevation and the rotation was breathtaking -- but the landing was hard when Riley wasn’t there. That was followed up by the Slingshot Suplex and Riley McManus notched another defense of the North American Heavyweight Championship in a thrilling contest.</p><p> </p><p> Riley McManus defeated Ash Campbell in 22:24 by pinfall with a Slingshot Suplex. Night two is coming soon. Today was the last day of the school year for me, so needless to say this was a busy week of finalizing grades, writing report cards, and doing all of the end of year things I’m responsible for; however, the year is done and with the exception of one day next week, I am on vacation — so expect night two soon!

We are live on Pay Per View, exclusively aired by MySelecUSA and we are coming to you from the sold out Theatre of Dreams. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes once again. Tonight we present the final three rounds of the Oxford Invitational. Eight teams remain and tonight only one will leave with the trophy, but before we get into that -- I’m joined in the broadcast booth by “The Sheriff”, the legendary Ricky Dale Johnson. Ricky! Are you excited for tonight's action?</p><p> </p><p> RDJ: I’m beyond excited. Eight teams are still standing. The Mission. The Fallen. Homegrown. And the surprise of the whole tournament -- The Heartbreak Express! Plus four other teams. I can’t wait to find out who will survive what’s left and win the Oxford Invitational. Plus, the World’s Title is on the line tonight!</p><p> </p><p> LB: “The Dragon” Mikey James makes his official CWL debut tonight against Ross Henry. This is a blockbuster co-main event. Ross Henry has been on a tear since last fall when he first beat Gino Montero. Tonight, he’s going for his eighth defense of the World’s Heavyweight Championship. Homegrown punched their ticket to the semi-finals.</p><p> </p><p> Homegrown defeated The Dynamite Express in 9:07 when Jakob Yoder defeated Syd Collier by pinfall with a Whip-In Big Foot.</p><p> <img alt="e5wmXmn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/e5wmXmn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team Match</strong></p><p> Thirty Minute Time Limit</p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Oxford Invitational Second Round</span></p><p> <img alt="gP5kPOf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gP5kPOf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="x1nYqNN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/x1nYqNN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XWgjkPi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XWgjkPi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="WIgT1ne.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/WIgT1ne.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="3msiqkr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3msiqkr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Pmhhg2P.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="31AYHyY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/31AYHyY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> The Mission versus The Fallen w/ Father Grim</p><p> </p><p> Of the matches in the tournament so far, this was the stand out. Two teams that are really tremendous -- and two teams that know each other very well. All four are products of the SWF system, but all four are men who got out and really found themselves once free of the Eisen Empire. Continuing a trend of excellence, Matty Faith was sensational in this match -- in particular with his selling for Hellion and Scythe. Faith really got the crowd into everything, his facials were through the roof and Hellion looked like the monster that he’s supposed to be. Faith made the hot take to Ranger -- who initially looked like he was going to be the star of the team but as the years have gone on it has become clear that he really is the second fiddle. Hellion hit Ranger with a Devolution Bomb after Father Grim tripped Ranger up. It was especially impressive because of the size of both men. Hellion got the pin and his team has a date with Homegrown in the semi finals.</p><p> </p><p> In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, The Fallen defeated The Mission in 13:55 when Hellion defeated Ranger by pinfall with a Devolution Bomb after Father Grim interfered. During the match we also had Torment run in and attack Faith.</p><p> </p><p> In terms of in-ring work, Matty Faith was head and shoulders above everyone else. </p><p> <img alt="LTiTJNd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LTiTJNd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><img alt="NZOXfRl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NZOXfRl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> BT: This is my women’s division. They were similarly sized, so all four of them got to work a quick, fast-paced, Junior Heavyweight style match with the Stones using their fluid technical wrestling and the Express got to showcase some fluid tag team wrestling that led them to multiple regional tag team titles. David Stone hit a beautiful German Suplex -- one of his real trademark moves -- on Ralph Liotta but Johnny Needham broke up the pinfall before the Stones could punch their ticket to the finals. Liotta hit David with a big dropkick that sent him into Edd Stone. It knocked Edd off the apron and allowed Liotta to roll up David Stone and the Heartbreak Express are going to the finals!</p><p> </p><p> The Heartbreak Express defeated Edd Stone and David Stone in 10:55 when Ralph Liotta defeated David Stone by pinfall with a fast roll up.</p><p> <img alt="LTiTJNd.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LTiTJNd.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45989" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><img alt="b9yP5Es.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/b9yP5Es.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="F4wLsLn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/F4wLsLn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> David Stone can’t believe that he just got pinned. Hoemgrown and The Fallen really took it to one another. Back and forth action between four big men who were working hard. It looked like Homegrown had it in the bag, but Father Grim distracted the referee and the Diaz Cousins hit the ring and laid out Homegrown and allowed Scythe to hit a Choke Slam on Yoder. The referee turned around and did not see the Diaz Cousins ringside so he counted the three and The Fallen are headed to the tournament finals for the second straight year.</p><p> </p><p> The Fallen defeated Homegrown in 12:02 when Scythe defeated Jakob Yoder by pinfall with a Choke Slam after Father Grim interfered. Both teams were wrestling their third match of the night. The Fallen had very physical contests, while the Express have taken several beatings and they took a beating in this match. It was slow and methodical and the Fallen looked incredibly dangerous as the Fallen pummeled them. Hellion, at one point, even hit a second rope splash on BOTH members of the Heartbreak Express that almost won the match -- it only didn’t because Needham got his foot on the bottom rope.</p><p> </p><p> The Express made a big comeback though and really picked up the speed of the match. They hit several double team moves and ended up taking Scythe out of the match when Needham got down on all fours and Liotta used Needham’s back as a launching pad for a Blockbuster to Scythe that was just beautiful. Needham ducked a clothesline from Hellion and rolled him up and got the three count and the Express shocked the whole world and won the sixth annual Oxford Invitational!</p><p> </p><p> The Heartbreak Express defeated The Fallen in 17:03 when Johnny Needham defeated Hellion by pinfall with a roll up. I sat in my new office and looked across my desk. Taylor Ryan sat across the desk from me. He was the Senior Vice President of Programming for NCTV. Technically, he was in charge of Saturday Night Slammasters from a network perspective. He gave us feedback, let us know how the network was feeling and all of that. So far, my meetings with him had been incredibly pleasant. We were doing good numbers, consistent numbers in our 11:00PM Saturday slot. It was a good slot. Not too much competition in our specific time slot. We had an hour show. It was a good show. We had listened to them when they asked for the Television Championship -- I had figured out a way to add the belt and make it something different than our other belts.</p><p> </p><p>

Ryan, “We are incredibly pleased with how Continental Wrestling League has been performing. You are consistently winning your time slot in the ratings. Your performances in your major markets the North West, South West, and Mid South is very high. Your ratings in the South East and Mid West are also very good, with New England and the Tri State area both coming along. Mid Atlantic is still struggling, but we know we will get them.”</p><p> </p><p>

I nodded my head. “Thank you. We are really pleased with our recent performances. We think we’ve really found our stride from a television production standpoint and we think we are really starting to produce television shows that match at least TCW from a quality standpoint.</p><p> </p><p>

Ryan smiled his head at me. “That’s what we were thinking. We also think that your show should be ninety minutes. We want to extend you that half hour until 12:30. But, we want it to feature more female talent. We’ve noticed that some of the highest rated quarter hours are when the women are on. Only USPW features a women’s division in major American pro wrestling and even then it is a novelty. We think if you feature your women more in the extra half hour, it will really help you stand out against TCW and SWF’s programming -- and eventually USPW’s. It’s the biggest room for growth.”</p><p> </p><p>

I leaned back in my chair. An extra thirty minutes of television would be nice. That would mean more advertising. More money for us. It wouldn’t cost that much more to produce. Our women’s roster was very deep. We could feature them more. “What did you have in mind?”</p><p> </p><p>

Ryan leaned forward against my desk. “Women’s Tag Team titles. No other major company has tag titles for women. You have the roster depth. You already have Ladies Night, The Uprising, Tex-Mex. You’ve got plenty of depth. Add the tag titles in there, let that drive some extra women’s matches. It will be great.”</p><p> </p><p>

I ran my fingers through my hair. They had asked for a Television Championship and I gave it to them. Now they were asking for Women’s Tag Team Championships, but in exchange for an extra half hour of time on our shows. That extra half hour could really come in handy. I nodded my head. “Okay. I’ll contact my guy in Arkansas and see if he can’t get something made for us and we’ll get the ball rolling. When do you want us to go to ninety minutes?”</p><p> </p><p>

Ryan stood up. “Immediately. Your next show. We’ve already blocked out the extra half hour. Thank you, Robert. You won’t regret it. It’s going to be great for business.”</p>
