Team Piledriver (Jones & Conduit) vs Team MAW (Collier & The Architect)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The opening tag match picks up from where Headstrong left off two weeks ago, as MAW loyalists Collier and the Architect team up. Self-proclaimed Piledriver Wrestling's defender Cip Conduit is the man teaming up with Jones, who's out for revenge after the Architect got involved in his match against Collier. Jones gets enough time in the ring against both men to deliver payback, but Conduit just can't hold up his own end besides his usual wild brawling antics and once the Architect manages to take him to the mat, it's only a matter of time before the Blueprint is applied to get him to tap out.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Syd Collier & The Architect, by submission</strong></p><p>

<img alt="87E3trK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/87E3trK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="ejbjbKm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ejbjbKm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rRxzJJJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rRxzJJJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Buck Winchester comes to the ring and cuts a promo on Bradley Blaze, saying it's time to end all the fooling around and hiding behind other people: he wants Blaze in a match, one on one. Blaze's music hits and he comes out but instead of verbally responding, he simply nods with a smile on his face.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Houston Handley (QAW) vs Eri Sato</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Despite making her name as a well-liked Texas native in QAW, Handley shows up in her recent incarnation of a psychotic, violent brawler looking for a fight. The juxtaposition isn't exactly a gimmick to set the world on fire and sadly, neither is her in-ring performance. Sato does a good job of carrying her opponent throughout the match and ultimately hits her with a Buzzsaw Kick for the pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Eri Sato, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Once again, Sato's victory is crashed by the Piledriver Women's champion and her manager, who delivers yet another promo about how his client is nothing like what Sato faced in the ring tonight as he hypes up their upcoming title match set for October.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Hal Harvard vs Reaper</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

This match delivers exactly what its setup would promise, a dominating performance by the massive dark man Reaper, who proceeds to beat fun loving Hal Harvard into a pulp in less than ten minutes. More of a character showcase than a proper competitive match, this one provides fans with the breather needed before the second big half of the show until Reaper destroys his opponent with a scary looking Death Bomb.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Reaper, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

The real interesting part though comes after the match as Masked Patriot comes out with a fiery promo about how he's had enough of both Reaper and Scythe. Patriot is hellbent on ending them both and he will start by beating Reaper in that ring at Deadly Game, with the Piledriver Championship on the line if he has to!</p><p>

Piledriver Tag Team titles match</strong></p><p><strong>

The Southern Stars (NYCW) vs The Death Squad</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Both Harker and Tennessee William show up under their usual gimmick of an Elvis impersonator and his big dumb obsessive fan/bodyguard, which makes for a nice contrast against the monstrous team of Wolfe and Annihilus. Even better, the Southern Stars seem to have both more experience and better chemistry as a tag team compared to the title defending duo, which makes for plenty of double team moves from either side before Annihilus almost chokes out Harker to end the match.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: The Death Squad, by stoppage</strong></p><p><strong>

The Death Squad make defence number 2 of their Piledriver Tag Team titles</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="SJYcxhu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SJYcxhu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="amsxoxV.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/amsxoxV.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

With Harker out, the match over but still some aggression to let out, the Death Squad turn their attention towards Tennessee William, who they attempt to beat into unconsciousness before Riley McManus and Jebediah storm the ring for the rescue. Standing tall as the tag champs retreat, McManus cuts a promo saying this is only a sample of what's going to go down at Deadly Game in two weeks.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Piledriver United States title match</strong></p><p><strong>

"Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs Waylon Walls (CZCW)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Despite representing a promotion known for its masked high flyers, Walls' brawling antics look like they'd be more at home in one of that area's hardcore promotions like GSW or IPW. Not a big problem for Diaz though, who is able to stand his ground in a fistfight and even take his opponent for a ride with a few big slams and suplexes, leading to his big Belly to Belly Suplex finisher that brings him victory.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "Glorious" Logan Diaz, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

"Glorious" Logan Diaz makes defence number 2 of his Piledriver United States title</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="rCrbMWQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rCrbMWQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Diaz gets on the mic after the match, but before he can talk he is interrupted by "the Athlete" Xavi Ferrera who says no one wants to hear Diaz saying the same things over and over again (ironic, given Ferrera's speeches during his own run with the same title). After some back and forth on the mic, the two men finally agree to meet in October at Where It All Begins Again but for now, Ferrera demands that Diaz gets out of 'his' ring.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

"The Assassin of the Squared Circle" Ernest Youngman (NYCW) vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Two men familiar with each other since their days on the roster of PSW, Youngman and Ferrera are in no rush to lock horns, well aware this is going to be an epic battle. This gives fans enough time to take everything in and generate heat while the announcing duo runs through the two men's history and accomplishments since leaving Pittsburgh. Evenly matched in size, weight an power, the two men start things off by exchanging blows to no avail until Ferrera decides to take a more technical approach. His idea backfires though, giving Youngman control of the match and a chance to showcase his extremely strong mat wrestling skills. Sensing defeat closing in, Ferrera gets desperate and resorts to a cheap eye poke in order to halt his opponent's momentum and regain control of the match as he tries to pick up the pace with some high velocity moves. Youngman is more than able to keep up, including a kick out of a Ferrerarana, but once Ferrerera hits the High Impact Frog Splash, it's game set and match for the Athlete with the clock saying 21:23.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Providing a much needed break between the show's main two big matches, Scythe cuts a promo on Shady K, smartly using his opponent's gangsta background and "Death Row" tag team to hype up himself as "a fate worse than death".</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="At6zmyr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/At6zmyr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

COTT World Heavyweight title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Scythe © vs Shady K (NYCW)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

It's matches like these that put the "Heavyweight" in "COTT World Heavyweight title". What starts as a hoss fight quickly turns into a clash of styles between Shady K' street fighting approach and Scythe's love of big moves and (choke)slams. Unlike the co-main event, this one isn't that much about ring psychology and a methodical build-up of drama but rather a smashmouth exchange between two legitimately tough dudes looking for a fight. On the down side though, the style tends to exhaust Shady K's stamina sooner than it should, leading to him looking visibly tired by the final few minutes, almost too exhausted to properly pull off his own attacks, an opening Scythe exploits for a huge chokeslam that leads to the pin.</p><p>

"FEEL THAT?"

Was he patiently waiting for this all to end? Was he holding his head up high through the ridicule? Did he accept this as punishment? Or was he so spaced out of his mind on painkillers he barely registered the slaps, let alone my words?

I head Lee's voice behind me, but just to be sure he got across, he laid a hand on my shoulder as well. In hindsight, he couldn't be sure whether I was truly out of control or living out the gimmick. Even after almost two years running the company together, he had his doubt sometimes. Oh hell, maybe he was playing me this time, acting as good cop to my bad cop routine. I was so upset I couldn't think straight at the time. It was the first time anyone had shown up under the influence and somehow "double dubbyah" had slipped below the radar upon arrival until he was already in the ring with Logan. He messed up a title match, he could have injured one of our brightest prospect and he acted irresponsibly. I had to make an example out of him.

Waylon walked away and I turned around, still fuming in rage. Lee smiled, almost joking about my antics now that the incident had been dealt with. Ever since the MAW merger took place and we found our stride, his mood had picked up. Why wouldn't it, we had gotten out of debt and grown our fanbase, at least for the time being.

"Listen, Sheik... Jiminez called. He wants to bring Cip to Puerto Rico."

8fSINjf.jpg

It took me a moment to understand the importance of Lee's words. AAA had snached up three of our female workers, but at best Flame was an original roster member. Cip Conduit was the first ever Piledriver Wrestling School graduate to be offered a deal by a major promotion since I talked Lee into setting up our own promotion to provide a stage for dojo graduates. I'd almost given up on Cip as far as our own company went, let alone another wanting to sign him, but at long last, it was happening.

"That is... good" I whispered to Lee, carefully so that no one would notice the gimmick inconsistency moment. "Call Pete and Sam, it's time we cleaned up the roster for good."

I actually just completely 180'd on this match while typing out my reasoning! I don't think you're planning on unifying the two top titles, so Patriot should lose the belt (probably through Scythe's interference) before moving on to challenge Scythe for the COTT title.

Co-Main Event

Piledriver United States title match

"Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "Class Act" Syd Collier

He won't give in, til he's victorious...

Jebediah & Riley McManus vs The Death Squad ©

It's still early in their reign, and Sheik can be the difference maker to protect Jeb & Riley.

Special Tag Team match

The Architect & The Athlete vs The Heartbreak Express

I always tend to side with the established team in predictions, and it feels like Architect is there to take the fall to keep Xavi strong.

Women's Tag Team match

Marie Punnen & Eri Sato vs Sawyer Sports Services (Winters & Daniels)

Feels like her Women's Title match is being delayed to get her over enough to be a credible threat, so another win for Sato.

Going out on your back, it's just tradition, isn't it?

</strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Deadly Game 2018</span></strong></p><p><strong>

Saturday, Week 4 September, 2018</strong></p><p><strong>

Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="hGRwOwP.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/hGRwOwP.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The ring is set with a table and chairs as Peter Michaels' music hits and he comes out. Michaels announces that next month's "Where it all begins again" will be true to its name and for several people on the roster, their last show with Piledriver Wrestling. To set the tone, he calls out...</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="ejbjbKm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ejbjbKm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

...Buck Winchester, who joins him in the ring for a promo in which he says he hopes the entire setup is a contract signing for a singles match between himself and Bradley Blaze. Michaels says it's even better, given the circumstances, he wants them both to agree to something more: Winchester's specialty match, loser leaves town!</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="rRxzJJJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rRxzJJJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

After Winchester signs with a smile, Bradley Blaze joins the two men in the ring. For a moment, it looks like fists are about to fly, but Michaels defuses the situation saying he wants to be fair to both men so besides the loser leaves town stipulation, the match will be contested under Texas Deathmatch rules!</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="rCrbMWQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rCrbMWQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Cip Conduit vs "The Sandman" Jules Knight</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Since FCW had announced the signing of Cip Conduit prior to this show, it was pretty clear this was his goodbye match to put Knight over on his way out. While this did take away from the unpredictability of the result, it also added some emotion to the match while also drawing out one of Conduit's finest performances to date, largely thanks to the evident chemistry between him and Knight. After delivering his Time for Bed finisher, Knight pinned Conduit to score barely his third ever victory with Piledriver Wrestling since his debut and certainly the first one over a major worker, the other two having been over Irwin Gutmann in late 2017 and Hawkeye Calhoun in early 2018.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "The Sandman" Jules Knight, by pinfall</strong></p><p>

<img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Interrupting Conduit's final bow to the Piledriver Wrestling fans, self-proclaimed defenders of MAW (or rather, its memory, by this point) Syd Collier and the Architect came out to get some heel heat by talking down Conduit for calling himself a defender of Piledriver Wrestling only to now jump ship to Puerto Rico. It didn't take more to light Conduit's fuse and start a brawl, one that his opponents easily controlled by being fresher than him and outnumbering him until...</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="SJYcxhu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SJYcxhu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

...Riley McManus came to the save, another man who's been with the company since its first show and harboring grievances about the way MAW underutilized him.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="rCrbMWQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rCrbMWQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Marie Punnen & Eri Sato vs "Ice Cold" Claire Winters & "Devious" Dee Daniels (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Punnen was off to a bad start in this match, botching several of her moves to open herself up to retaliation from Daniels, who brawled her opponent to a corner as the heels cut the ring in half for a classic beatdown that led to a two count. Punnnen earned herself a breather with a pele kick out of nowhere, before tagging in Sato who took Daniels to town with her stiff strikes. Sensing imminent defeat, Winters tagged herself in to stand toe to toe with her scheduled title challenger, before the two of them started trading blows in a battle of strikes. The exchange went back and forth for a while before Daniels tagged herself in, looking to relieve her teammate. Winters wasn't happy about it though and an argument broke out between the two of them as they force-tagged each other in until Sato rolled up Winters in the chaos for a shocking pin.</p><p>

The Architect & "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera vs The Heartbreak Express (with Lisa Bowen)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

This match was a classic clash of two outstanding individual wrestlers against two youngsters lower on the food chain but well versed in wrestling together as a team. This teaming experience kept the Heartbreak Express in the match for quite a while and even allowed them to get some offense going, but the heels always found a way to put the breaks, whether it was Ferrera's athletic ability or the Architect's sneaky ways, leading up to Ferrera hitting the High Impact Frog Splash on Needham while the Architect had Liotta in the Blueprint outside the ring after a short brawl.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: The Architect & "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

Before departing, Ferrera got on the mic to cut a quick promo on "Glorious" Logan Diaz, saying this is what he can expect at Where it all begins again and promising to beat him.</p><p>

Riley McManus & Jebediah vs The Death Squad © (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

With Riley McManus being a middleweight among three massive other competitors, one would expect him to be out of his waters in what promised to be a clash of hosses and at first, it looked like it until he and Wolfe locked up in a solid technical exchange. As the match went on, it was clear that Riley's problem was timing: he and Jebediah, while great wrestlers individually, were completely out of synch and more than once they got in each other's way. Up against the Death Squad who work like a well-oiled machine despite only teaming up for less than a year, this spelled disaster. Still, the challengers held their ground in what was essentially delaying the inevitable until Sheik got on the apron to distract the simpleton Jebediah, which in turn allowed Annihilus to grab the amish fighter's throat and score the tap out thanks to his dreaded Choke Grip.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: The Death Squad, by submission after interference from Sheik Ali Al-Avatar</strong></p><p><strong>

Piledriver United States title match</strong></p><p><strong>

"Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "Class Act" Syd Collier</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Logan's open title challenge was answered by Syd Collier this month, a former Mid Atlantic Championship holder and arguably one of the hardest opponents Diaz has ever faced to date. This hardship also became evident inside the ring as Collier was able to impose a slow pace that suited his style before taking Diaz to the mat for a grappling contest. Big man Diaz is no pushover though, blending technical skill with sheer power and after going hold for hold against Collier even managed to rock him with a huge suplex. Bringing the match back up to a standing exchange, Diaz fought hard and Collier responded in what felt like an escalating battle that could end at any given minute.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="c3ifflk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/c3ifflk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Whether captivated by the spectacle and wanting a front row seat or for his own personal reasons, Collier's former teammate and current nemesis Cameron Jones showed up, circling the ring before joining the announcing duo and Peter Michaels on commentary. His presence at ringside was enough to undermine Collier's focus though and after fifteen minutes of what was a true show stealing match, Collier found himself trapped in a Boston Crab dead center in the ring and forced to tap out.</p><p>

Piledriver Championship title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Masked Patriot © vs Reaper</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

After months of both Scythe and Reaper haunting him, Masked Patriot finally decided to dispose of both men, starting with this one on one match against Reaper, one of the biggest and scariest men on the entire Piledriver Wrestling roster. Given their rivalry, Patriot didn't need to put his title on the line to get his opponent to accept this match, but being the fighting champion he is, Patriot just couldn't walk into this match and live with being champion after a potential defeat at the hands of Reaper. The match itself played out as one would expect, with Reaper dominating and Patriot trying to withstand the onslaught; only after the ten minute mark when the big man slowed down and began to look like he was trying to get some wind back into his lungs did Patriot's plan become apparent: he was exhausting Reaper in order to take him down. Smartly avoiding further damage to himself by attempting to hit the Patriot Slam or any other slam on a 360+ pound man, Patriot opted for submission holds instead, focusing his offense on Reaper's neck with a wide array of choke-style moves.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="pmHS2Ce.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pmHS2Ce.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Just when it looked like Reaper was about to give up, the lights flickered and Scythe showed up to get his hands on Masked Patriot. The champion wasn't shy about throwing down either and the two men got into a brawl, thus ending the match via DQ in favor of the defending champion.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Masked Patriot, by disqualification after Scythe interfered</strong></p><p><strong>

Although the match was over, the rivalry itself wasn't and neither was the slugfest between Scythe and Masked Patriot. Bigger and fresher, Scythe eventually shifted the tide in his favor and as if this wasn't enough for the unfortunate champion, a recovered Scythe joined in to end the show with a violent beatdown on the patriotic champ.</p><p>

<p>War for Territory #10 card & narrative</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xHyIlop.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xHyIlop.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> For this week's interview, I have in the studio with me what many call one of pro wrestling's best kept secrets. He's been a nationally decorated hurdler in college, he got his start in Pittsburgh and in the last couple of years he's really been tearing it up with Piledriver Wrestling. I'm talking of course about "the athlete" Xavi Ferrera, welcome to the studio.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="uN4bdE9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/uN4bdE9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Thank you, it's a real honor to be here today.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So Xavi, we're no strangers to each other but please introduce yourself to our fans who may not know you.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Right, so, my name is Xavi Ferrera and that's my actual name, not an alias. I'm 24 years old and I was born in Puerto Rico, but my family actually hails from Portugal. I've always been good at sports so I tried my hand at a few things before ultimately sticking with track and field.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Pro wrestling wasn't an option back then?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Well, not really. I was a fan since I was a kid, but there were no shows held in Puerto Rico unless you count the occasional "Puerto Rican Power beats X foreigner" special events every now and then. FREEDOM Carribean Wrestling opened its doors in 2007 and even when Shawn Gonzalez set up their dojo in 2010 he did it in Pittsburgh so I had to wait until college before I had access to a training facility.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> In Pittsburgh?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yeah, Gonzalez was already known as one of the best trainers around so I wanted to learn from him. Just getting accepted was a challenge for me and the classes were brutal too, but he taught us well, may he rest in peace. Everything he told us about he would then go on and do at the next show with DAVE. He would lead by example.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> He was a great man and a great wrestler, God rest his soul. So the DAVE shows were where you also met with Guide?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> No, that was back at the Lair. Shawn would bring in DAVE talent to help him with his classes. I still remember (Chris) Caulfield and (Freddie) Datsun talking to us about selling and how to make the audience sympathize with us. The New Wave and the Peak Brothers had come to teach us about tag team wrestling. That's where I got to meet Guide and I guess he saw a little bit of himself in my style at the time, you know? Long story short, DAVE went out of business in 2007, Puerto Rican Power and some others set up FCW in Puerto Rico while Mitch (Naess) and the rest put up some shows to give us trainees some exposure in hopes of having us signed by some other promotion. IPW wouldn't be around for a few more years, so there was no one looking to sign hardcore style workers, which is how those shows slowly led to the dojo's transformation into PSW. Kinda like how Piledriver Wrestling was born out of its own wrestling school.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Before Piledriver though, you had a brief run with PSW, right?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yeah, but it never really came to be. With no one to run the Wolf's Lair, it closed before I could graduate. Guide offered to complete the rest of my training, but once he signed with TCW and moved to California, it was practically impossible. I know he made an attempt to have me accepted by TCW's school, but PSW put me front and center before that so I had to learn the rest on the job. That was in 2014.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So what happened?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Mitch (Naess) was running out of money, so he had to cut expenses. He made the call to keep the DAVE veterans and let the young folks like Logan (Diaz) and myself go. Which I'm not bitter about, by the way. Fans were still high on the whole DAVE nostalgia, they were willing to pay to see those folks, not greenhorns like me.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> But that doesn't get you very far, if you can't produce some home-grown young stars on the way. Which is probably why the Eisens bought out PSW last summer but hey, how can you make long-term plans about young home-grown talent if you're not turning enough of a profit to still be around by the time they hit their prime, right?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yes, I guess the powers that be had to make sure they'd survive short-term before making any bigger plans. Which is why I understood their decision.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So how did you end up with Piledriver Wrestling after that?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> See, Piledriver Wrestling were in deep debt too, more than once, but they were lucky enough to get out of it with some outside help. PSW just wasn't. It's not just business and numbers, sometimes it takes a bit of luck too.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> We'll get to Piledriver's money issues in a while, for now I'm curious about how the contact to join them was made. You and Logan (Diaz) were both on the starting roster, did you plan for this or was it a coincidence?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> We hadn't talked about it with Logan, if that's what you mean. Neither did they get us as a package deal. I guess though I wasn't too surprised to see him there. Lee Wright runs the wrestling school and he's been a long time friend and teammate of Logan's uncle in Japan.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> They seemed to place a lot of trust in you though, you won the top title in like what, two months in?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yeah I was given a title run to test the waters and establish me as a legit competitor. Part of the gimmick too, you see. Then they brought in a bunch of veterans to help us rookies out and I lost the title to Rockin' Ryan Turner until he went out on tour with his band. Then people kept coming in and I was kinda lost in the shuffle as I fell down the card.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So they turned you heel.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> I discussed it with the folks in charge there. They were the ones to approach me with the idea in fact, probably because they didn't want to let all the earlier build up go to waste. I mean, if your top champion is a curtain-jerking jobber within a couple of years, there's no coming back from that. Not just for me as a wrestler, they too are losing out on a potential future star and the title loses a bit of prestige. The timing was right too, because my results were perfect to justify a heel turn and I was lucky enough to do it just before the company bought out MAW and brought in a bunch of fresh faces to its roster.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> That was fortunate indeed, plus you had a midcard title now to go with.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> That's right, I was already on the rise when the merger took place so I immediately beat (Hal) Harvard for the Mid Atlantic American title. It made sense and it got me heat after I broke the long streak of a beloved babyface.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> But then you ran wild with it, beat the entire midcard in a series of excellent matches.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Again, that was done to establish me as a legitimate competitor after my heel turn.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Until Logan Diaz rolled you up for the pin at the Sam Keith Classic VIII to set up your rematch at the upcoming "Where it all begins again" show. What's the plan after that?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Well, clearly I can't disclose the booking of that match... <em>*laughter*</em> Thing is, I don't really know what's next for me either. I think I've more or less made it back to the main event scene, but (Masked) Patriot's in a feud with Scythe and Reaper, then there's Syd (Collier), George (Wolfe), Buck (Winchester)... Plenty of bad guys at the top and not that many heroes to keep them all busy <em>*laughter*</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Does that mean we can expect you to turn face again?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> No no, we're trying to be somewhat consistent with that stuff. I just don't know what the landscape will look like after October's show. Peter Michaels opened our latest show saying it'll be the last show for a lot of people on the roster.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> They've been quietly releasing or writing out folks since the merger with MAW, this one sounds drastic though. Is Piledriver in debt again or is it a convenient way to do a massive roster clean up?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Only thing I know is there's still enough money in the bank, so no debt. If I had to guess, it's either because with the wage bill is too big compared to the profits or because there's not enough time to showcase everyone. I mean, War for Territory recently got an extra 30 minutes and it's still not enough.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Speaking of which, would you like to read the upcoming War for Territory match card out for our audience? You heard it first on Vibert's Voice, folks!</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46150" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Piledriver Wrestling Presents</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">War for Territory #10</span></strong></p><p><strong> Saturday, Week 2 September, 2018</strong></p><p><strong> Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Main Event</strong></p><p> COTT Women's title match</p><p> Foxxy LaRue © vs Nicole Pyle</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Co-Main Event</strong></p><p> Nate "The Great" DeMarcus vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team grudge match</strong></p><p> "Class Act" Syd Collier & The Architect vs Riley McManus & Cameron "J-Man" Jones</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Piledriver United States title match</strong></p><p> "Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "Killer" Carl Bernard</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opening Four Man Tornado Tag match</strong></p><p> Scythe, Reaper & The Death Squad vs Masked Patriot, Jebediah & The Heartbreak Express</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

Masked Patriot, Jebediah & The Heartbreak Express (with Lisa Bowen)

Things are pretty crowded in and around the ring for the opening match as the monster heel quartet takes on the babyface team. The focus of course is on Masked Patriot's ongoing rivalry with Scythe and Reaper, but Jebediah also gets a chance to shine being the only big man in his side of the fence while the Heartbreak Express also work together to raise their own stock in this high-profile match and hopefully even get a shot at the tag titles. With so many moving parts to this match, referee Alvin Lavin has a hard time maintaining control and understandably so but he refuses to give up and call for a no-contest. However, when Scythe & Reaper hit an assisted powerbomb on Jebediah just as the Death Squad deliver a double chokeslam on the Heartbreak Express, the ring collapses under the combined weight and force, leading to a mandatory no-contest as technicians rush down for repairs while the wrestlers crawl out of the ruins.

Winners: No contest

As both teams regroup, Masked Patriot grabs a mic to issue a challenge for "Where it all begins again". Offering to break tonight's matchup into three different matches, Patriot suggests a tag title match (Death Squad versus Heartbreak Express), a big man clash (Jebediah vs Reaper) and himself against Scythe. The COTT World Heavyweight champion responds to accept, whether his title, the Piledriver Championship, both or none are on the line.

Piledriver United States title match

"Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "Killer" Carl Bernard (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar)

After ushering his team backstage, Sheik Ali Al-Avatar returns with "Killer" Carl Bernard who is scheduled to face Diaz for the US title tonight. The two heavyweights lock up in the middle of the ring, with Bernard bringing the wild brawling against the much slicker style of Diaz that keeps this match from turning into a simplistic hoss fight. From the opening exchange it's pretty obvious Diaz is by far the better in-ring worker and this only serves to further anger Bernard. Torn between his excitement and common sense, the Sheik isn't doing a great job of keeping his man in check so after several warnings from the ref about dangerous strikes and choke holds, Bernard is disqualified, wrapping the match up at just over eleven minutes.

Winner: "Glorious" Logan Diaz, by disqualification

Walking around a bar in Waco, Texas, Buck Winchester cuts a promo on Bradley Blaze and their upcoming clash at "Where it all begins again". Winchester points out he's no stranger to barroom brawls and he has a history when it comes to Loser leaves town matches. Come that night, Blaze will be sent back to Dallas.

"Class Act" Syd Collier & The Architect vs Riley McManus & Cameron "J-Man" Jones

After rushing to the rescue of Cip Conduit and being left as the only "defender" of Piledriver Wrestling, it's no surprise Riley McManus finds himself up against the duo of MAW loyalists in Collier and the Architect. His teammate is Collier's former partner turned rival, Cameron Jones and the four men proceed to tell the tale of their rivalry between the ropes. Jones especially seems to be a bit out of synch, being a brawler in the ring with three technically-minded workers, but he does his best to not bring the match quality down because of that, instead adding some excitement and variety when things seem to slow down too much. This even plays into the finish of the match, a time limit draw after fifteen minutes of back and forth grappling that signals "slow and methodical" might not be the best way to go about business in these cases.

Winners: Time limit draw

Xavi Ferrera hits the ring next to deliver yet another cocky promo about how he's going to prove he's the only real athlete in Piledriver Wrestling by beating Nate DeMarcus, before moving on to defeat Logan Diaz in two weeks.

Nate "The Great" DeMarcus vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera

Returning from injury, Nate DeMarcus seems to have zero ring rust about him. What he does however have is a big target for his opponent to focus on as Ferrera delivers stiff kicks to his lower back, gradually turning those into backbreakers or submissions aimed at DeMarcus' injured spot. After taking a beating for most of the match, DeMarcus makes his comeback and even hits a few impressive moves, but the damage comes back to haunt him once the pace picks up and his athleticism can't be put to full use. Ferrera slingshots off the ropes to catch DeMarcus with a devastating Backstabber that drives both knees in with high impact, in turn keeping DeMarcus down long enough for Ferrera to deliver the High Impact Frog Splash for the pin.

Winner: "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera, by pinfall

COTT Women's title match

Foxxy LaRue © vs Nicole Pyle

Though not the most promising matchup on paper, the main event is true to the show's theme of "local vs imported" matches as it features the self-proclaimed "baddest chick in pro wrestling" and COTT Women's champion Foxxy LaRue taking on the first ever female graduate of the Piledriver Wrestling School in Nicole Pyle. The local favorite may be off to a big start with her flashy high flying offense, but it quickly becomes painfully apparent she lacks the stamina to back it up as she's gasping for breath after the five minute mark. LaRue offers no quarter and takes her opportunity to deliver a beatdown on her challenger for a couple of minutes before laying her out on her back with a Flash Head Kick for the pin, an easy title defense in under ten minutes.

Winner: Foxxy LaRue, by pinfall

Foxxy LaRue makes defence number 4 of her COTT Womens title
