DarK_RaideR
Where It All Begins Again Piledriver Wrestling Presents Where It All Begins Again Friday, Week 4 October, 2018 Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE Piledriver Wrestling's executive triplet kicks off the show as they come out to welcome fans and hype up the show before shaking hands. Peter Michaels takes a seat on the announcers' table, while Sam Keith and Lee Wright return backstage. Opening Three Deal Tag Elimination match w The Death Squad (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar) The Frat Pack w The Heartbreak Express Three briefcases are hung up on poles on three corners of the ring and the match is underway. Though usually dominating matches with their size and power, the Death Squad find themselves in a tough spot here. For one, they could lose their tag titles without even getting pinned and more importantly, grabbing one of the briefacases requires speed and agility they lack, especially in comparison to both their opponents. The Frat Pack come into this match with a defensive tactic of letting their opponents duke it out and pick their spots or go for a briefcase while everyone's busy, leaving the Heartbreak Express to actively chase a case while also trying to fend off the Death Squad. Jumpin' Johnny Needham's vertical leap earns his team the first briefcase when he dropkicks Wolfe into Annihilus and then hops to the second rope to retrieve a briefcase. The match is paused and the contents are revealed as... a title shot for gold at Night of the Champions! It's not the titles themselves, but it's not the worst case scenario either and the Express are taken out of the match, leaving the Frat Pack with no place to run anymore. Lucky for Harvard and Pilgrim, they are much fresher than their tired and (lightly) beaten opponents so they do get a fighting chance. Even when Annihilus lifts up Harvard for a powerbomb, the Fratmeister is smart enough to use the elevation and grab a briefcase before impact. It doesn't spare him the hard landing, but it does stop the match to reveal the case contents... a mandatory dismantling of the Frat Pack! Harvard's inspiration backfires as both he and Pilgrim lose their minds at the exact same time the Sheik madly celebrates his team retaining the titles. Winners: The Death Squad The Frat Pack will no longer wrestle matches as a team The Heartbreak Express will face the Death Squad for the Piledriver Tag Team titles at Night of the Champions in December Submission match Riley McManus vs The Architect This match wouldn't be out of place in Europe's Ultimate European Wrestling or, back in a day, Brighton's Ring of Fire: a slow, methodical chess game of a match between two true masters of the grappling arts who go hold for hold in a masterclass of what wrestling can be. The sudden drop in pace and cerebral nature of the match doesn't seem to please most of the fans though, especially after a hot opening and match so it seems the wrestlers somewhat rush the finish of the match, wrapping things up a bit sloppily as McManus beats The Architect with his own finisher, the Blueprint. Winner: Riley McManus, by submission w Piledriver Women's title match Eri Sato vs "Ice Cold" Claire Winters (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer) The first "proper" title match of the night, this one is the exact opposite of the one preceding it: fast paced, all out and full of sharp strikes. Taking several pages of an MMA match playbook, even the submission holds are quick and deadly, playing to the styles and gimmicks of both competitors. Sato shows she deserves every bit of the chance she was given by pushing Winters to her limits, so much that Sawyer senses defeat and has to get on the apron to distract Sato just so that his client can set up a Heel Kick for the pin. Winner: "Ice Cold" Claire Winters, by pinfall after Playboy Jake Sawyer interfered Claire Winters makes defence number 1 of her Piledriver Womens title A screaming guitar riff interrupts the champions' celebration and AAA veteran Tracy Brendon steps out of the entrance to a thunderous reaction from the crowd. Brendon cuts a promo saying she's here to be champion and will be gunning for that title. Still huffing and riding a wave of adrenaline, Winters responds by indicating she's ready for her anytime as the announcers hype up their apparent upcoming title clash. Loser Leaves Town match Bradley Blaze vs Buck Winchester The cowboy clash fans have been waiting to see, Blaze and Winchester go one on one and fists start flying as soon as the opening bell rings. Simple, yet exciting, the match is wild enough to draw fans in and even spills outside the ring for a good chunk since there are no countouts. For all their aggression, the two men end up getting winded really fast so the pace takes a sharp drop past the ten minute mark that slightly kills off the excitement until the finish of Winchester driving his opponent through the announcers' table with the Dallas Drop to add the exclamation point to his victory. Winner: Buck Winchester I Quit match Jebediah vs Reaper Of all the matches on the card, this one is the quintessential big man clash with a total of over 700lbs between the ropes. The two competitors lash out against each other with strikes that quickly turn into stiff-looking headbutts and corner avalanches that showcase their deceptive agility for men that size. Perhaps the most cartoonish and gimmicky match so far, this one is heavy on the religious undertones and character clash, including the finish of Reaper performing some kind of black magic ritual that causes the lights to flicker and Jebediah to shiver up to the point where he calls it quits. Winner: Reaper Before the next match, a back-to-back promo video package rolls, with Logan Diaz and Xavi Ferrera talking about their time with the title, their latest match that ended with a roll up and how they intend to win this one in decisive fashion. Piledriver United States title match "Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera As the announcers remind everyone, Ferrera beat Diaz at the start of the year in Anything Goes, before Diaz returned the favor at the Sam Keith Classic VIII to win the gold by roll up. It's always been a show-stealer when these two clashed and this time it's no different as they pull out all the stops to deliver a spectacle of a wrestling match, dramatic and fluid before Diaz seals the deal with a Belly to Belly Suplex for the pinfall to finally defeat Ferrera while keeping the title. Winner: "Glorious" Logan Diaz, by pinfall "Glorious" Logan Diaz makes defence number 5 of his Piledriver United States title Steel Cage grudge match Cameron "J-Man" Jones vs "Class Act" Syd Collier The storied rivalry of the Dynamite Express' collapse and rivalry has transcended MAW and carried on into Piledriver Wrestling, with Jones costing Collier some big matches but unable to win their one on one matches themselves. Thanks to the cage preventing outside interference, Jones and Collier are free to focus on fighting each other without having to keep eyes in the back of their head. Jones of course is the big winner of this scenario, not only because he's mostly been the one to find the Architect in his way so far but also because his brawl-heavy style is a great fit for a cage match as opposed to Collier's mat based approach. What works against him is emotion, making him careless enough for Collier to slap on the Texas Cloverleaf out of nowhere to steal another big win over his former tag team partner. Winner: "Class Act" Syd Collier, by submission Piledriver Championship title match Masked Patriot © vs Scythe According to Peter Michaels on commentary, COTT rules prevent champions defending their title against challengers working for the same promotion, which is why only Patriot's title is on the line tonight. With the bar set pretty high after the previous title match, Patriot and Scythe take the time to lay the foundation for an epic bout between them; the start feels a little slow, but things soon pick up as Scythe administers a series of chokeslams Patriot kicks out of. Every time the champion manages to get some offense going for him, he hits a brick wall when it's time to lift up the massive Scythe and deliver the Patriot Slam. This quickly becomes the theme of the match, whether Patriot can hit his finisher or how many times Scythe has to execute a choke slam to keep the champ down. Seeing how things aren't working for him, Scythe gradually begins signalling he's looking for the Underworld Spike but before he can get to that point, Patriot finally musters enough strength (and a bit of momentum) to bring him crashing to the mat with a Patriot Slam, piling the weight of his body and the entire nation on top to secure the pin. Winner: Masked Patriot, by pinfall Masked Patriot makes defence number 4 of his Piledriver Championship title Show Rating: Author's note: So with this show being a "season finale" I think it's appropriate to take a moment and thank everyone for your reading, comments and predictions. Also for those who nominated and/or voted in favor of this diary when it came to DotM/Y awards. Special shout-outs go to: King Bison, Historian and moafnsteel, for inspiring me to get this diary going with their TITAN Factory, RMW The Climb and Lone Star Wrestling ones respectively. ReapeR, for creating the Piledriver Championship and Piledriver Womens title belt images without me even asking. You rock, thanks for that and it's nice to see you back at it. Christian_Shane, which is where I snagged the new US title belt render from. The entire GDS re-rendering community for providing a ton of quality re-renders I use in this and my other diaries. I don't keep tabs on who made what, but King Bison, willr0ck, sockpuppet, jtlant and Asaemon spring to mind. Thank you all for making this game feel alive and adding a ton of after-sales value. DarK_RaideR
Thanksbeating 2018 Piledriver Wrestling Presents Thanksbeating 2018 Saturday, Week 4 November, 2018 Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE Masked Patriot is shown backstage when Miss Atlantic Wresting walks up to him, saying she's got his back. Calling herself 'a true patriot' unlike others like Winchester who were patriotic in name only, Ms MAW points to her star-spangled mask and offers a handshake. The Piledriver champion seems reluctant at first, but then stands up to exclaim that the power of America is inside everyone, man or woman, before shaking her hand in return. w The Heartbreak Express (with Lisa Bowen) w "Killer" Carl Bernard & El Sultán (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar) Bernard is sent in first to wreak havoc and soften up the opposition, but the Heartbreak Express use the opportunity to showcase the art of tag team wrestling as they work together to take the big man down. Their double team moves take him down for a two count and force him to tag in El Sultán, who plays along to Sheik Ali Al-Avatar's antics and even tries to lock in the Camel Clutch, despite being blatantly not Middle Eastern himself. For all his comedy antics, Sultán proves himself a solid all-rounder in the ring but once Jumpin' Johnny Needham manages to pick up the pace and lure him into a high flying battle, Sultán quickly finds himself on the receiving end of a Moonsault before he takes the pin. Winners: The Heartbreak Express, by pinfall Once the match is over, the Death Squad come out and Bowen urges her client to a speedy retreat as they signal that the two teams will only clash when it's time for their official title match. Sheik Ali Al-Avatar gets on the mic to promise annihilation at the Night of the Champions, but the menacing monsters behind him alone are enough to get that message across already. The competitors for the next match make their respective entrances but before the opening bell, Daniels has a word to say about Brendon challenging the champ. Of course, Brendon won't just sit and hear it; grabbing a mic of her own, she snaps back at the young upstart who needs a bit of help from her manager to avoid the burn. Brendon simply dropkicks Sawyer in return, who rolls out of the ring in pain and the match is underway! w Tracy Brendon vs "Devious" Dee Daniels (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer) Sparked into action, Daniels takes the opening and stomps on the fallen Brendon after she's dropkicked Sawyer out of the ring. This advantage has Daniels in control early in the match as she seeks to pummel Brendon, but the veteran quickly turns things around and uses her mastery of chain wrestling to reverse a clothesline lariat into a slingblade. Brendon makes her return from there, chaining stikes and aerial moves into a slick arsenal that builds up to her Idaho Crunch finisher for the finish. Winner: Tracy Brendon, by pinfall Piledriver United States title match "Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs Buck Winchester Winchester comes into the match with all the momentum in the world after having ousted Bradley Blaze from Piledriver Wrestling. Both men have been with the promotion since its first show, so to see them meet again in the ring now feels special for long-time fans of Piledriver Wrestling. As expected, the match is extremely physical, with Diaz taking Winchester's stiffest moves and answering with his own moves that almost seem like he's trying to drive the challenger through the mat. Momentum swings back and forth in a dramatic, smashmouth exchange and just before the fifteen minute time limit, Winchester attempts the Neckbreaker, only for Diaz to reverse it into a slam that drives him to the mat. Diaz pulls up Winchester and grabs him to deliver the Belly to Belly Suplex when the lights flicker... ...and suddenly, both Scythe and Reaper stand on opposite sides of the ring! Diaz lets go of Winchester and Scythe nods as Reaper gets in the ring. Alvin Lavin tries to prevent any interference, but Scythe simply gets in his face to intimidate him from throwing the match as Diaz and Reaper trade blows. The exhaustion and damage Diaz is carrying means he slowly loses ground until Reaper drives him down with a spinebuster and gets out of the ring. Caught between Scythe and Reaper, the ref has little else he can do but make the count as Winchester delivers his scary new Texas Backbreaker finisher on Diaz and covers him for the win. Winner: Buck Winchester, by pinfall after Scythe and Reaper interfered Buck Winchester wins the Piledriver United States title Still not satisfied with costing Diaz the match and title, Scythe and Reaper enter the ring as Winchester leaves, wanting none of it. Under a thunderstorm of boos, Scythe and Reaper put the boots to Diaz and finally leave him be, bloodied and bruised in the middle of the ring as they raise their hands to the sky. #1 contender for the Piledriver Championship title "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera vs Lenny Brown Lenny Brown's debut match for Piledriver Wrestling and it's already a big one as he seeks to defeat "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera, who's been on a hot streak lately. Ferrera does a great job of being the cowardly heel at first, completely shooting down fan expectations for a huge match (at least right out of the gate) and even once he does lock up with Brown, he only stays in the fight as long as he's got the upper hand. Being new to the promotion, Brown has a lot of surprises up his sleeve and every time Ferrera finds himself on the receiving end of a move he was unprepared for, he once again rolls out of the ring signalling for a timeout. When a frustrated Brown chases him at ringside, Ferrera springs his trap and attacks, finally taking the match into competitive territory. The fight returns to the ring and the two men pick up the pace but the slow start comes back to haunt them when the bell rings out of nowhere to signal the twenty minute time limit.
