NYCW: Ten Year Anniversary Diary

Introduction

Okay I just wanted to give a brief introduction to this dairy. I have not had an active diary on here in a few years (I am too lazy to look it up) but I decided to do one more (at the very least) to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of my first diary on here which was also an NYCW diary (my first diary was in September of 2009, but this is close enough).

This diary is not going to be a work of art, you can expect a lot of typos, misspelt words and missing words. I am going to make this a completely kayfabe diary, which means there will be no behind the scenes posts. I hate writing match write-ups with a passion (I am also not very good at writing them). Therefore, my match write-ups are going to be brief summaries of what happened. Some might be very brief while others will be longer, it really depends on how much I want to write.

I actually wrote most of the first show a year ago, and then I thought about if I really wanted to do another diary. I am going to be honest I do not know how long this diary will run, think of it like a comic book. It could be a mini-series, a maxi-series, or an ongoing series. It really depends on how much interest I have in it.

As always feel free to one star my diary if you feel the urge to do so. I will not complain if you do so and I will one star it myself.

I am debating of if I want to run a prediction contest or not. Two reasons why I might not are they are a huge pain in the ass to keep track of and I never have a lot of people interacting in my diary. However, I am going to be doing a Top Prospect Tournament in this diary and I always enjoy allowing the readers to pick who they want in the tournament. I am still on the fence about this.

Doubt that Borne To Riot would be quite ready for tag belts yet

Four-Team Elimination Match:

The Ring Generals vs. The Boys From The Yukon vs. Brooklyn’s Finest vs. Old School Principals

Generals would be my pick as your best team. That said, I´m pretty sure that Southern Stars are faces and winner on this one is likely going to be on the contention as challengers for tag belts so I go with heel team that I believe are highest at the pecking order when the game starts.

For the NYCW Tri-State Regional Championship:

Two names that I don´t associate with NYCW here but I know enough about Devastaing Don and what I know states that he should stay well away from titles.

Dermot O’Logical vs. Andrew Harper

Smith has to be one of the bigger names you got espesially if we look guys that could go further than year or two before retiring so assuming he isn´t stolen I would expect him to be one of the guys you would build around.

Steve Flash & Roger Cage vs. Man Mountain Cahill and Honest Frank

Speaking of guys who could retire any minute, here´s three of them with Cage being the only one who I wouldn´t expect to find in your "past their prime" list. That said, Cage is also someone who I expect to be stolen by bigger company pretty quickly so that´s why I pick heels to win this one.

Earlier today I vacated my Empire Championship. It was one of the toughest things I had to do in my career. You see for months and months I had been mulling over the contract that USPW had offered me. Part of me wanted to sign the contract right away and ride off into the sunset. However, the other part of me knew that would not be right because I felt as if I owed it to you fans to stay here in NYCW. After all it was here in NYCW that I made a name for myself. I had my debut match for this company almost twelve years ago. For nearly twelve years I put everything I had into my matches here. Sometimes you fans loved me and other times…well not so much. But I always knew you respected me and I greatly appreciated that. Therefore, leaving here was never going to be something I would do on a whim. I thought about it and I went to NYCW owner Larry Vessey and informed him of my offer. Larry told me that I should take the new opportunity that USPW was offering me. He gave his blessings for me to leave and, so I decided to take the chance. I love it here in NYCW but there comes a time in everyone’s life where they must spread their wings and fly… Now as for tonight…Larry asked me who I would like to face for my final match here in NYCW. There was only one man that I could think of and that man is mister NYCW himself Steve Flash. For years Steve has been the face of this company. I have had plenty of great matches with him in the past and I just knew that he would be the perfect final opponent for me… [before Roger can continue, he is interrupted by Honest Frank who comes out from behind the backstage curtain. Frank is followed by the ever-menacing Man Mountain Chaill.] <img alt="4tvBqyz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4tvBqyz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Honest Frank: Honestly Roger I don’t see why these fans should care about you anymore. You betrayed them…you…well you are nothing more than a modern-day Judas. You took the money that USPW offered and you ran out of here much like your pal Sammy the Shark. Now part of me just has to wonder if the reason why you are leaving has anything to do with the beating you took last month at the hands of my friend here. I mean if we’re being honest and well, as you know I always am honest…you were on the receiving end of a major league ass kicking and one would not fault you if you were scared and decided to take your ball and run. Well you’re not going to make me lose my smile tonight pal. While it is true that Man Mountain Cahill did kick my ass last month that did not factor into my decision to leave in any way, shape, or form. After all, I might have gotten my ass kicked last month but I still ended up picking up the win… <img alt="bHvOGdf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bHvOGdf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Man Mountain Cahill: You got lucky! <img alt="LCHnPjx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LCHnPjx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Roger Cage: Luck had nothing to do with it big man. I beat you because I am a highly skilled athlete and you’re nothing but an over the hill, obese biker who only shows up to work every couple of months. I can’t help if you have more rust on you than a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. [Cahill does not take too kindly to Roger making fun of his part-time status. Cahill begins heading towards the ring.] <img alt="LCHnPjx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LCHnPjx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Roger Cage: Whoa now big fellow, if you want some come get some. [Cahill enters the ring and charges at Cage. The two men begin to brawl in the center of the ring as Honest Frank gleefully sits down in a metal chair at ringside and enjoys the brawl. This does not last long as the moment that Cage get the upper hand in the battle, Frank enters the ring and nails Cage in the back with the steel chair he had just been sitting on moment earlier. Cahill and Frank then begin to beatdown the now defenseless Cage. Moments later Steve Flash comes running down to the ring with his own steel chair. He takes a swing at Frank, but Frank artfully dodges the chair. It is at this point that Cahill and Frank leave the ring and Flash goes over to check on Cage. Roger says something to Flash and Flash smiles and nods his head in agreement. Flash then goes and retrieves a microphone for Roger. Roger who is clearly in pain as he clutches his back, begins to speak.] <img alt="LCHnPjx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LCHnPjx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Roger Cage: Hey Frank…Cahill…I am having second thoughts over what I want my last match to be. You see for years I was a tag team wrestler here in NYCW and after that attack you two just gave me…well I think it is only fitting that my last match here in NYCW be a tag match. So how about it guys? The two of you against me and Flash! You guys game? [Frank does not look at all interested in the proposition put in front of him, but Cahill does not care one-bit what Frank wants. Despite Frank begging Cahill to say no, the big man bellows out…] <img alt="bHvOGdf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bHvOGdf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Man Mountain Cahill: You got a deal Cage! [The crowd goes nuts as we head over to the announcer’s table where the voice of NYCW Rock Downpour and his broadcast partner Ernie Turner welcome us to the show. Referee Michael Bull, knowing full well what Andrew’s objective is about the table, admonishes Andrew. Andrew shoots one glance at Bull and Bull, realizing that he might end up the victim, quickly scurries out of the ring. Andrew turns his attention towards setting up the table in the ring as Dermot begins to slowly try and get up. Andrew is having none of that and he picks Dermot up only to drive him down to the canvas once more with yet another Spike Slam. Andrew finishes setting up the table in the center of the ring. He then raises his arms triumphantly above his head and cries out, “It’s table time!” He then walks slowly and confidently over to where the seemingly lifeless Dermot lies. However, Andrew is stopped before he can do anything to Dermot by Bulldozer Brandon Smith who has run down to the ring to help his friend. Bulldozer and Andrew begin brawling in the ring. Brandon soon gets the upper hand in this battle. Andrew, realizing that this is not a hill he wants to die on, manages to get out of the ring. Bulldozer!”, which seemed to give the once lifeless Bulldozer the energy he needed to mount his comeback. </li><li>Bulldozer was soon able to get back on the offensive and he soon dropped Brutus with a Backdrop Driver. </li><li>Three seconds later Bulldozer secured a victory over Brutus.</li></ul></div></blockquote> <div style="text-align:center;">Winner: Bulldozer Brandon Smith Time: 9:18 Match Rating: 40</div> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46177" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>[As soon as the match is over with Andrew Harper emerges from the crowd and enters the ring. Andrew then proceeds to Pearl Harbor the victorious Bulldozer. Bulldozer stumbles forward and almost falls. Andrew continues to throw vicious strikes at Bulldozer and Bulldozer is hardly fights back. Andrew finally manages to get Bulldozer down on the mat, after having nailed Bulldozer with some hard-hitting strikes to the face and body. Andrew smiles as he gazes down at his fallen foe, he then looks out at the crowd and yells out, “It’s table time!” However, before Andrew can retrieve a table, members of the NYCW security staff rush to the ring and manage to keep Andrew away from Bulldozer. and Doll where able to isolate Tennessee William in their corner. </li><li>Borne and Doll began working on William’s right leg, as a very impatient Animal Harker was forced to watch his partner being picked apart. </li><li>There were a couple of occasions where Borne or Doll would intentionally irritate Harker in the hopes of drawing the Animal into the ring. </li><li>Animal fell for this tactic each time and when Referee Michael Bull would force Animal out of the ring, Borne to Riot would use their underhanded heel tactics to make sure William could not tag his partner into the match. </li><li>The fans soon began chanting, “Shake, Rattle, and Roll!” This chant seemed to give William the will to mount a comeback. </li><li>William was soon able to fight his way out of the heels corner and make the tag to bring Animal into the ring. </li><li>Animal went on a rampage quickly tossing the attacking Borne over the top rope and onto the arena floor. </li><li>The wild man then turned his attention to The New York Doll, who clearly wanted nothing to do with Animal. </li><li>Animal swiftly kick the ever-living crap out of the Doll and then ended the match after nailing NY total cluster you know what of a match and it was added to the card at the last minute. </li><li>The match was not that bad even though there were more wrestlers standing on the outside of the ring than were competing inside of the ring. </li><li>Brooklyn’s Finest was the first team to be eliminated after The Boys From The Yukon Whitehorse Whittaker pinned Hawkeye Calhoun. </li><li>With Brooklyn’s Finest gone the two heel teams decided it was mutually beneficial for the two of them to work together against The Ring Generals. </li><li>The two heel teams then began to isolate The Ring Generals’ Dean Waldorf, by not allowing Dean to tag out of the match. </li><li>Dean endured a good amount of punishment for the next few minutes and it seemed that all hope was lost for The Ring Generals. </li><li>That was until Dean, realizing that the deck was stacked against him and he would never be able to reach his tag partner, decided to tag OSP member Rick Sanders. </li><li>This tag happened while The Boys From The Yukon member Howlin' Mad Mort was in the ring. </li><li>Thus, the two heel teams were forced to face off against each other. </li><li>Mort tried to tag either Dean or Marv from The Ring Generals into the match but both men hopped off the ring apron before he could do so. </li><li>It was at this point that Rick Sanders of the OSP, took Mort down with a quick pin thus eliminating The Boys From The Yukon from the match. </li><li>This meant that the final two teams in the match were OSP and The Ring Generals. </li><li>These two teams put on a great back and forth match for the next few minutes. </li><li>However, the OSP were able to secure the upper hand and eventually the victory after using underhanded tactics on their opponents.</li></ul></div></blockquote> <div style="text-align:center;">Winners: Old School Principals Time: 13:32 Match Rating: 39</div> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" Frank then informed his tag team partner Cahill that he wanted to start the match out for his team, so that he could make Roger look bad in his final match. </li><li>Once the bell sounded, signifying the start of the match, Honest Frank show his true colors and quickly tagged Cahill into the match. </li><li>This was a running theme of the match Frank stood on the apron and watched Cahill do all of the work and then when Frank thought he would have a chance to secure his team a victory he would tag into the match. </li><li>The match itself was a very good match (by NYCW standards), with both teams getting their time to shine. </li><li>Steve Flash served as the heels whipping boy in this match as he was the one who was on the receiving end of most of the heels offense. </li><li>The heels kept Flash in their corner for a good portion of the match. </li><li>The fans started chanting, “Flash!”, over and over again and this seemed to give the again veteran the much-needed boost to fight his way out of the heels’ corner. </li><li>Steve was able to tag Roger into the match and the former NYCW Empire Champion easily dispatched the much larger Cahill over the top rope and onto the arena floor. </li><li>Roger then turned his attention towards Frank, who was begging and pleading with Roger not to harm him. </li><li>Roger just smirked at the cowardly heel and began to beat the holy hell out of Frank. </li><li>Cage then decided to put Frank out of his misery after dispatching him with a Cage Rage. </li><li>Three seconds later Roger Cage, along with Steve Flash, had won his final NYCW match.</li></ul></div></blockquote> <div style="text-align:center;">Winners: Roger Cage and Steve Flash Time: 13:56 Match Rating: 46</div> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46177" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>[After the match is done the heels, who are still licking their wounds, quickly exit the ringside area. Which was not really that shocking as it happens in the vast majority of my NYCW games. I think I had one save where they did not come for him right away (They ended up poaching him in month two instead). I debated on if I wanted to have him drop the belt on this show or vacate it. I went with vacating the belt and the next three shows will feature a tournament for now vacant NYCW Empire Championship. 4. I fired both Fern Hathaway and Devastating Don. This was mainly because I always fire Fern due to her being difficult to deal with and not adding much to the roster overall. Don was fired because I have no plans for him and he is difficult to deal with. 5. The Fatal Four Way Tag match was supposed to lead to something but then something else just happened which negated my plans. If what I said does not make sense that because I do not want to post any spoilers, but it will make perfect sense later on. 6. I have no idea how to book the COTT Tag Team Titles. Those titles are more prestigious than the NYCW Tag Titles. I really do not want to have The Ring Generals defend their titles on every show because I feel like it would cheapen the NYCW Tag Titles. 7. Normally I would resize all of the images but I was lazy and did not end up doing it. There might be small chance for upset here if you would want to heavily push Harper but overall, Flash is such an iconic NYCW guy and main eventer that I would be shoked if he didn´t get past first round

Animal Harker vs. Sayeed Ali

I think that at least 1 or 2 of the visiting superstars should get past 1st round and looking at tournament table, this is one of the more likely places were that could happen. That said, I still did go with Harker and the reason being that I expect Flash to get into final four so need heel challenger for him and while Ali likely is heel, I slighly unsure if you would want to bring him back for second night just to avoid any potential problems if 4C says no for some reason (not sure if that´s even possible or if you could get multiple appearnce deals to begin with so I might screw myself here by overthinking). Anyway, I pick Harper to win this one based on the idea that the loans are for one night only.

Tennessee William vs. Jonnie Perez

Since I expect Flash to get past 1st round logical thing would be that heel advances here and while I can´t be sure if Perez is a heel or not, I know that William is a face so I go with visiting star picking a win here.

Dean Waldorf vs. Rick Sanders

I was originally going to pick Waldorf here since I expected Ali to win his match but since I managed to talk myself out from that, I go with Sanders going forward on this one in order to face Harker in next round.

That said, I still did go with Harker and the reason being that I expect Flash to get into final four so need heel challenger for him and while Ali likely is heel, I slighly unsure if you would want to bring him back for second night just to avoid any potential problems if 4C says no for some reason (not sure if that´s even possible or if you could get multiple appearnce deals to begin with so I might screw myself here by overthinking). Anyway, I pick Harper to win this one based on the idea that the loans are for one night only. Tennessee William vs. Jonnie Perez Since I expect Flash to get past 1st round logical thing would be that heel advances here and while I can´t be sure if Perez is a heel or not, I know that William is a face so I go with visiting star picking a win here. Dean Waldorf vs. Rick Sanders I was originally going to pick Waldorf here since I expected Ali to win his match but since I managed to talk myself out from that, I go with Sanders going forward on this one in order to face Harker in next round. Round 2 Matches: Animal Harker vs. Rick Sanders Again, pretty certain Flash is going to get into final four so that means heel advancing here. Plus I tend to always book to popularity. What I mean by that is I always tend to have the more popular wrestler win their match. Like I said in every NYCW game I have had he has been snatched up right away. There was only one game where he stayed in the company for more than one month. Had he stayed I would have had him lose his title in a match instead of vacating it. I just did not want to have him lose the main title on the first show.

Just popping in to say I generally struggle to connect with CVerse, but I actually like that this is more "simple" and the characters I like. I enjoy the tournament and the C.O.T.T. tie-in. Definitely will be reading!
