NYCW: Ten Year Anniversary Diary

Recommended Posts

Round 1 Matches:

Cheetah Boy vs. The Masked Mauler

This one I simply picked based on who I expect to be the opponent next round (Brandon Smith)

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Brutus Milano

Smith is one of the biggest names in the tournament and one of three people who I´d see as potential winner (other two being Flash and Honest Frank suprising absolutely no-one) so of course I pick him going into second round.

El Hijo Espada Roja vs. Honest Frank

With Cahill not being in this tournament, Frank is the main heel in my books and thus unlikely to lose to outside talent.

Marv Statler vs. The New York Doll

Need face opponent for Frank next round, not that I need much extra reasons to pick either one of the Ring Generals over pretty much any non-main eventer anyway unless there´s a special reason for me to go into other way. And yes, I´m fully aware that this is the first time I pick either one of the Ring Generals to win a match during this diary and they haven´t faced main event level talents in previous shows :p. What can I say, though? There have been those said "special reasons" :o

Round 2 Matches:

Brandon Smith vs. The Masked Mauler

While Mauler´s tag partner did actually got past second round, I don´t expect Mauler to duplicate the result here. That said, Old School Principals certainly had a good run on this tournament (assuming of course that I´m right about Mauler getting this far).

Marv Statler vs. Honest Frank

Remember when I said that I would need little extra reason to pick Ring Generals over non-main event talent? Well, here´s main event talent so sorry Marv, at least you did get past first round.

That was the case with this show. </p><p> </p><p> I had written the vast majority of the second show about a year ago (maybe more than that). Therefore, I had forgotten that I had Andrew Harper brutally attack Steve Flash post-match. </p><p> </p><p> When I wrote this show I had Andrew Harper brutally attack Brandon Smith. I also had Brutus vs. Brandon twice in this diary already, once again I chalk it up to not looking at my save before I booked it (I swear Brutus vs. Brandon is not going to be this diary's version of Orton vs. Cena). Now I probably should have checked what I had written before I booked this show, but I did not so there you have it.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>3.</strong> The next show is going to have the start of a storyline that me be a tad bit controversial to some. I will say prior to posting it, the topic is not meant to offend if it does I apologize. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>4.</strong> I do not have much insight into why I booked this show the way I did (Shoot just read <strong>Zergon's </strong>picks they are pretty spot on with my thought process. I swear I really think <strong>Zergon</strong> can read minds.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />).</p><p> </p><p> Therefore, I would like to welcome both <strong>KnowYourEnemy</strong> and <strong>Herrbear </strong>to the prediction contest. <strong>KYE</strong> did pick last show but I forgot to welcome him and I felt odd adding to the previous show's post once I realized that I had forgotten.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, thank you to everyone who did predict on this show I really appreciate it.</p>

<p>Okay I just wanted to say that this diary is not over with, I have had some major things I have had to deal with in my personal life and therefore I have not felt like writing. Glad to see this one is still going. I´m always happy to try to read your mind as far as booking plans go. :D

Kip Keenan vs. Brutus Milano

I do rate Keenan quite highly while Milano is bit of an unwritten leaf to me before this diary so interested to see how he can do. That said, I´m going with the guy I rate higher at this point.

Hawkeye Calhoun vs. Andrew Harper

I see Harper being higher on pecking order.

Non-Tournament Matches:

For the COTT World Tag Team Titles:

The Ring Generals © vs. Borne to Riot

Don´t see Borne to Riot to get the belts off from Generals without a bit of build-up first.

For the Tri-State Regional Championship:

Crockett Tubbs © vs. Brimstone

Tubbs is another guy who I don´t have much previous knowledge but it doesn´t take much to be better than Brimstone who´s only selling point to me is his cool alt (although that´s pretty good point as I certainly hired guys before just because I liked their alt...).

Semi-Finals Matches:

Steve Flash vs. Rick Sanders

I don´t see Sanders getting into finals so Flash it is.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Honest Frank

I could see Smith taking this whole tournament but think we need a heel to advance here so lets put Frank into finals

Final Match in the NYCW Empire Championship Tourney:

Honest Frank vs. Steve Flash

I could see either guy becoming a champ but I go with Frank for two reasons. 1) Both guys are likely way over their prime but pretty certain Frank is the better guy on microphone so he has slighly easier time to get decent ratings via angles even if the matches aren´t that great. And 2) Flash and Smith sounds more impressive line-up as challengers than what Frank and Cahill do and assuming no new signings at the time being, those four guys are the ones who I would expect to challenge/carry the belt at this point.

<p>I hate to do a bump like this, but people do cheaper bumps so here goes. </p><p> </p><p>

I am not sure when I am going to be able to post this next show. I have it all written up and ready to be posted but I am not able to use my Microsoft Word. It says my subscription is up and I need to reactivate it but I never had anything to activate in the first place.</p><p> </p><p>

I have an old computer (I think I bought it in 2012) and Word just came with it when I bought the computer as a default. I am wondering if this has something to do with when I converted over to Windows10. I am not sure what is going on here and I honestly do not have the time to rectify it right now. </p><p> </p><p>

I will try to get this resolved soon, but I cannot make any promises. What sucks is the show is right there but I cannot copy and paste it to the site. It is highly annoying.</p>

<p>If you need a cheap fix until you get things resolved with Word you can always download Open Office for free and there will be a program that allows you to open up word documents in it.</p><p> </p><p>

If you have Microsoft Office 2013 or above it would be associated with your Microsoft account and logging into said account should re-activate it. If it is 2010 or before you might be out of luck as they are out of support these days.</p>

I’m a New Yorker through and through fam…born and bred.</p><p> </p><p> NYCW is my hometown promotion, for years I dreamed of the day I could wrestle here. Last month my family was here. My mom, my sisters, and my brother were all here to see me do what I do. Now I didn’t win but I thought I did enough to prove to the higher ups here in NYCW that I belong.</p><p> </p><p> When my match was done, I took a shower, packed my bag and headed out to the crowd to join my family. When dealing with the topic of race it is tough to know who you might offend.</p><p> </p><p> The whole segment really did stem from me looking over the NYCW roster and not seeing any Hispanic, Asian, or Black rosters. I found that to be very odd, mainly because NYC is considered a melting pot city and so it is just bad business sense to not have your entire audience represented. </p><p> </p><p> For Sayeed I am borrowing a little from Nu Jack during his days in SMW (Not ECW, that would be a little too graphic for NYCW). He is going to be a thorn in the side of Larry for the next couple of shows. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>2.</strong> Yes I put the championship on an almost fifty year old man. Mainly because he is the most viable person to hold the title. Honest Frank and Brandon are not popular enough in-game to hold the title and Man Mountain is supposed to be a part-time worker (According to his bio, but the dude still gets angry when I leave him off shows.) and this is not the WWE where we are going to have a champion who is not going to be on every show. </p><p> </p><p> That left Steve as the only option. Which is fine because I think he would be considered Mr. NYCW in the game world so it makes sense. Plus Lou Thez last held the NWA World Title when he was forty-nine years old so that means Steve is in good company.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>3.</strong> Freaking Brimstone...f that dude...seriously.<img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/mad.png.69834f23b9a8bf290d98375f56f1c794.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I hired his as a local talent jobber for the night because Crockett's popularity is low and I did not want to take the Tri-State title off him yet. Crockett was going to defend his title against a series of jobbers before I figure out who I want to beat him for the title. </p><p> </p><p> What did Brimstone do?</p><p> </p><p> He injured Crockett (I believe it was an elbow injury, I do not have the game opened up to look it up) and put Crockett on the injured reserved list for the next month! Man was I annoyed by that.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> The funny thing is I think he did the same damn thing in my original NYCW diary, which caused me to fire him right on the spot. You would think I would have learned my lesson but no...ten years later and I made the same mistake.</p><p> </p><p> Damn Brimstone and his awesome render...</p><p> </p><p> <strong>4.</strong> I put Cheerleader Nicki with Animal and Tennessee because I had nobody else to put her with. I did not want to fire her because she is dating Geoff Bourne, so I just gave her that job.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>5.</strong> I did not know if I should have written this as a "news story" but right after the show two things happened that really screwed with some of my long term plans.</p><p> </p><p> First off the Ring Generals lost the C.O.T.T. World Tag Championships to Marcos Flores and Nicolas Lopez (Yes the same guy who is the COTT World Heavyweight Champion, screw you game A.I.). I had a plan for the Ring Generals to defend their titles against various teams from other COTT promotions on our shows and then they would eventually defend their titles against Animal and Tennessee in a titles vs. titles match. Well those plans were dashed pretty quickly.</p><p> </p><p> To an extent it is kind of a blessing because now I only have set of tag team championships to worry about. I was struggling on what exactly to do with the COTT titles. Now I do not have to worry.</p><p> </p><p> The bigger blow happened when Bulldozer Brandon Smith signed a written contract with BHOTWG. That really screwed up my long term plans. I did know that there was a pretty good chance of him going full-time in Japan but I did not expect it to happen this early.</p><p> </p><p> In fact, this was the earliest he has made the move in any of my TEW16 saves. Needless to say I was shocked and annoyed because I had Brandon's next three feuds lined up. He was supposed to have a feud with Andrew over the next couple of matches before having a feud ending tables match which he would have won.</p><p> </p><p> He would have then moved to a feud with a worker who I have not signed yet but it would have sort of been a copy of the Tommy Dreamer/Raven feud in ECW (the basic backstory in which Bulldozer was the high school jock who bullied the outsider, now the outsider was back for revenge.). </p><p> </p><p> The third feud was potentially going to be a face vs. face feud with him winning the Empire Championship against Steve Flash. Though honestly this feud is the least planned out of the three because it might have happened maybe a year into the diary.</p><p> </p><p> I will say that I do like it when the bigger promotions take my workers. That is part of the reason why I enjoy playing as the smaller promotions. However, it does stink when you lose your number two face and he is also the guy who you had the most solid plans for.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Voeltzwagon" data-cite="Voeltzwagon" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46177" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>If you need a cheap fix until you get things resolved with Word you can always download Open Office for free and there will be a program that allows you to open up word documents in it.<p> </p><p> If you have Microsoft Office 2013 or above it would be associated with your Microsoft account and logging into said account should re-activate it. If it is 2010 or before you might be out of luck as they are out of support these days.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thank you for the advice, I actually went with Google docs but I will probably use your advice for the other stuff I have in word.</p><p> </p><p> What I think happened was I had Microsoft Word (I assume it was 2010 version because I think I bought this computer in 2012) and a couple of years back when I had to convert this to Windows 10 (believe it or not this was originally an Windows 7 computer...<img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) I think they automatically converted my Microsoft Word into Office 365 (I think that is what it is called). They now want me to pay for something that was originally free and I am not willing to do that. I was perfectly fine using the version of Word I had, they did not need to upgrade it on me.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Historian" data-cite="Historian" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46177" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>You can also use Google docs. The last time I had done anything on Google Docs was in 2011 and it was me trying to set-up a Mafia game for this site (The only reason why I know that is because I had a document dated April 12, 2011). <p>1. Glad to see that you got your Word problem all sorted out (albeit temporarily).</p><p>

2. Brimstone DOES have a cool render LOL</p><p>

3. Surprised at Flash winning but I guess you need someone to captain the ship at the start</p><p>

4. The promo by Ali wasn't that bad. It made sense and I wasn't offended by it. But if you start with that white supremacist crap, that's another story...</p><p>

5. Bulldozer had a cool render, too. Sucks that he left.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Keep churning out those shows while your MS Word still works!</p>
