<p>AEW has a lot of sleepers, especially on the heel side. Just wish they gave Luchasaurus a better gimmick, dude has a great look and great size.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Riho isn’t it. AEWs women division is lagging so far behind WWE, but WWEs women division is the only thing they have ever done right, it’s absolutely stacked, and for my money if AEW can get even a few stragglers from the WWE they can draw money.</p>

<p>Couple of extremely interesting social media trends.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

1. NXT is an actual footnote, smarks somehow worked themselves into thinking it would be even close with AEW, it’s not. More alarmingly, AEWs social media trends are actually comparable with WWE RAW, which is ridiculous considering the huge headstart RAW had and the fact that Synamit is on its first show.</p><p> </p><p>

2. Cody is probably a huge draw.</p><p> </p><p>

3. Jericho similarly is a large draw, comparing to social media numbers we see from WWE main eventers like Lynch(and well above Rollins)</p><p> </p><p>

4. PAC/Hangman did numbers similar to random WWE midcarders, nothing surprisiing, a typical non needle mover match.</p><p> </p><p>

5. Rose/Riho was decidedly below average, this is concerning because WWE best non Fiend/Reigns SM draws are women, notably Becky Lynch. The gap here is huge.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Will be interesting</p>

<p>Too much flack on social media for the Hager spot.</p><p> </p><p>

AEW isn’t going to be bringing in monster signings every week there aren’t even that many free agents. Out of all of them, Jake is one of the better ones, he’s bi, athletic and at one point actually drew money as a main brand champion of WWE.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

When he was headlining house shows business was actually up. Great look, marketable. Just needs some solid booking behind him. He’s also a pretty good wrestler more importantly. Super athletic for his size. I think it’s a coup.</p>

I loved the show myself. Thought the Cody - Sammy match was outstanding, and the Hangman - Pac match was great as well. The main event was fun to watch, IMO, and Jake Hagar's debut was pretty good.

Currently watching the show's replay, and enjoying that very much as well.

I imagine I'll get around to watching NXT sooner or later, to see what happened on there.

Jake Hagar is going to be good as an enforcer/heavy for Chris Jericho's new group.

I only saw bits and pieces of the show but one thing I do not get is if Cody is a fan favorite why is Brandi interfering in his matches and why does she tend to play more heel? Did I miss something that would give me context?

Brandi was getting revenge for Sammy pulling her in front of a suicide dive earlier in the match

I'm glad they stuck with the PPV stage set because it looks great, especially with the new graphics. Entrance audio sounds much better now. Commentary was good. Enjoyed the camerawork and sparse replays. The version I watched had no commercials but I could tell that they would have been non-intrusive.

Matches were nicely paced. Nyla vs Riho was my favorite match and the best women's match so far. My prediction was right and I marked out hard! Main event and the aftermatch were fun. Cleaner spot was funny and I swore out loud when Mox planted Omega into the glass table. Safe to say the first show was a huge success.

AEW was really good, I'm so glad that they managed to have a fairly serious first show that still had some goofiness too. The show was a fantastic TV debut show for them and everyone should check it out. :) The fact that the crowd were hot for everything helps too.... but gosh darn, Cody is so over it's ridiculous. Like, I don't even know quite how, but he's gone from strong WWE midcard popularity to seeming like he's bigger than Jesus with the AEW crowd. I love it, but I can't explain it. :)

NXT was also strong this week, but I'd give AEW the win in terms of head to head show quality. A good day to be a wrestling fan. :D

Good show last night, had a few hiccups, but that's expected for a company on their first live TV show.

I have to say tho, I really don't like people compairing NXT to AEW. NXT is ran by a company who has done weekly TV over 25 years so of course they will have a better handle on situations. AEW has only ran 5 shows? including all in.

There is a lot of potential here with AEW, and last night was a good first building block. I am intrigued where they are going with what happened in the main event, and overall I am looking forward to seeing where everything goes.

For now I think wrestling fans should just stop with the hate towards either company and enjoy the fact that there is a ton of wrestling to choose from right now that is geared towards all kinds of fans. So pick your promotion and have fun.

3 good matches and one OK women's match. The need Emi Sakura or Mercedes Martinez as a trainer.</p>

<p>The quality of those matches for being 'Dark' matches was excellent. Continues the idea that wins and losses matter. AEW is taking itself seriously which is awesome.</p><p> </p><p>

After the disastrous finish to HIAC, I'm even more so excited for Dynamite this week. Crowd should be hot, I expect a cheap jab WWE's way and another excellent show.</p>

<p>Going by match quality alone, AEW Dark was even better than Dynamite. I wish they had swapped the MJF/Cutler match for one of those dark matches. I guess it's to be expected that they'd be focused on the Elite+friends besides the championship match on the first episode. </p><p> </p><p>

First episode wasn't a bad start, but also not the blow-away show I was hoping for. Not surprised that it did better than NXT, though. The opening match was surprisingly the match of the night for me. Cody's best match since DoN, and certainly way better than his All Out match. Wasn't a fan of Guevara before, but he had his character down pat for this match. Best performance (from the albeit limited times) I've seen from him.</p><p> </p><p>

PAC vs Hangman was the letdown of the night. Who's idea was it to send PAC out and put on a boring snail-paced match? I hope they're not falling into old "heels cannot wrestle an exciting style" trope that used to plague WWE.</p><p> </p><p>

I have to say, though, AEW seems to have an issue with having any of their segments end on happy notes. 2 babyfaces won that night (Riho and Cody), and BOTH of them got jumped post-match. And Omega got jumped at All Out and again on Dynamite. Watsupwidat?</p><p> </p><p>

Do they want to wait for Nyla Rose to REALLY drop someone on their head (Nakazawa should thank his lucky stars) or legit break someone's face before they realize that she's a real menace in the ring?</p><p> </p><p>

Main event was pretty good, but the referee not doing anything to stop Moxley's interference was ridiculous. Especially when you consider that the person getting attacked is one of the founders of the company, why wouldn't there be security and officials rushing in to drag Moxley away from Omega?</p><p> </p><p>

I'm more hyped for the second episode, since as mentioned previously the tag division is currently the most interesting to me so looking forward to the tag tournament. Kind of wish that Private Party had been paired against another team instead of the Bucks in the very first round though, since I can't see the Bucks getting eliminated in round 1. Would have liked to see PP last longer.</p>
