TITAN Pro Wrestling: Land Of Titans

Before there was ever a "Titan" in the form of the man known as Dread, there were Titans walking the earth in the United States. A small, almost unknown company outside of its home area in New England, there were indeed TITAN's. Although they may not have been revered like a "Titan" in modern times would be, they were well-respected for their abilities, regardless of size or power, and were followed almost religiously by fans of the growing sport.

TITAN Pro Wrestling

Founded in January of 1921, the second to last "major" promotion to open up its doors, TITAN Pro Wrestling quickly established itself as 'the place' for wrestling in the US. Fans from all over the New England area and even areas near by began flocking to it, and leaving in marvel and amazement at the beasts and almost immortal like beings they saw giving it their all in the ring. Having a big financial backing in the form of ex-boxer Todd Phelps didn't hurt either, as the company was able to hire referees, announcers and many other dazzling items to make the whole thing seem that much more important. Now into the Great Depression though, much of the excitement has toned down and although TPW still has a decently strong financial muscle, who knows if it'll be enough to see out the Depression?

TODD PHELPS (Age: 41)

Todd Phelps is the 'man behind the curtain' in TPW. Responsible for the company in the first place, Phelps brought financial muscle, as well as a drive for success that no other man in the United States could rival. The only reason he fell in love with wrestling was due to a buddy of his talking about a match he had seen at a local carnival between Andrew Adamson and some local brawler. Phelps initially blew it off, as he had a boxing career to focus on - although that boxing career was ended swiftly during the height of it in 1920, when Phelps was defeated by a brutal boxer named Olliver Johnson in just 3 minutes during the first round. Ashamed, Phelps backed out of boxing and turned his sights to wrestling, contacting Andrew Adamson via letter and signing him to a deal for a new company - TITAN Pro Wrestling.

"The Veteran" Andrew Adamson (Age: 47)

Andrew Adamson is a beloved veteran of the wrestling world who has been working carnival and festival shows since early 1911. A solid worker who can be easily cheered and booed, Adamson was the first man contacted by Todd Phelps in 1921 in order to work for the newly founded TITAN Pro Wrestling. A smaller guy compared to most on the roster, Adamson can still hold his own.

iduXJ4s.jpgnGzVsbI.jpg

"Checkmate" Conor Bishop (Age: 28); "The Idol" Jacob Rylan (Age: 23)

Two young stars in TITAN Pro Wrestling, Conor Bishop and Jacob Rylan are arguably the future of wrestling in the US. Rivaling with each other, as well as the two Monsters in Brutus Baldur and Bear Griffiths, and even rivaling with "The Veteran" Andrew Adamson, these two are very popular with the audience and play the babyface roles to perfection. Conor is a more traditional worker and got over mainly for his in-ring skills and good looks, while Jacob has gotten over due to his movie star looks and charisma - although Jacob was an amatuer wrestler in school, and is a pretty good one at that, his in-ring skills just get over looked by most. Both are great at generating fan reactions, and without them, TPW would be a shell of its own self, as they are clearly something the company depends on now..

n0pwQom.jpgXF1W7o2.jpg

"The Brute" Brutus Baldur (Age: 28); Brian "Bear" Griffiths (Age: 25)

Although young, these two men are arguably the biggest heels in America. Both are monsters, and both can squash nearly anyone with ease. Each of them have only lost on a few separate occasions, and all of those were to any one of Andrew Adamson, Conor Bishop or Jacob Rylan. While Bear Griffiths is known for being a prominent part of the TPW World Heavyweight Championship scene, Brutus Baldur is known for being a sort of gatekeeper to the Main Event, with those who beat him gaining a sort of 'rite of passage' by the fans. He's only lost an accumulative total of 6 times in his 10 year career, the first 2 being early on when he was still training, and the other four coming from Andrew Adamson, Conor Bishop and more recently, Jacob Rylan. Baldur is also known as being the longest reigning TPW American Champion, holding the belt from September 1923 to March 1930, where he lost the belt to Jacob Rylan at TPW Titanhouse IX, whereas Bear Griffiths has held the TPW World Heavyweight title a total of 3 times since his debut in 1926.

Sorry for this post being a day late, some real life stuff came up and I just couldn't do it yesterday! Anyways, next info post will be on the 20th, where we will delve into the growing Canadian scene!

<span style="font-size:14px;"><strong><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';">The second-to-last place to have a company centered around wrestling open, Mexico is one of the most innovative scenes in all of wrestling despite this. With most wrestlers wearing masks and flashy costumes and soaring through the skies like some sort of bird. Home of some of the most exciting pro wrestling on the planet, it truly seems like somewhere you'd want to be, right? Wrong. Cartels are running rampant, and with the Global Depression hitting just a year and a half ago, Mexico is in the worst shape it ever has been, seeing crime rise and the cartels almost completely running the country. The wrestling scene took a pretty large hit too, though one area in particular - the Northern part of Mexico, perseveres due to the efforts of Carlo Montoya and Ultima Lucha.</span></strong></span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:14px;">Founded in 1927, Ultima Lucha is the second youngest of all of the territories, worldwide. Despite this, UL is actually drastically different compared to the other companies. Promoting the new style of "Lucha Libre" that has recently started to catch on in Mexico, UL seems to have set itself apart from the pack, and created a unique aura that will ensure its survival for years to come.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:14px;">

Opening just two years before the Global Depression, however, Ultima Lucha took a heavy financial hit following the stock market crash in 1929 and the end result of America's financial downfall. Despite all this, it perserveres and even lowered prices to come see shows just so that fans could still enjoy Lucha Libre.</span></span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:14px;">Carlo Montoya is a Mexican "businessman" and the man behind the territory Ultima Lucha. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, Montoya founded Ultima Lucha in 1927 and hasn't looked back since. Given that he's also still young, he sometimes even wrestles some of the luchadors, having been trained by a few select members of the roster. When he wrestles his gimmick is that of a 'dealer', a new trend rising in criminal activity in the United States, and even Mexico. Nobody quite knows where Montoya gets his money from, though, but nobody has bothered to look into it.</span></span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:14px;">El Dorado, La Rapidez and Fénix are some of the most popular luchadors to date, each having been a pioneer of the new style known as Lucha Libre, which mixes fast-paced, high octane action with all other aspects of the sport. El Dorado brings aerial skill and the ability to make nearly anyone hate him to the table, whilst La Rapidez brings a refined craft with knowledge of the business and Fénix brings that recklessness and ability to get the crowd hyped for the next bout. These three are essential to the running of Ultima Lucha, and without them Lucha Libre would probably fail to exist, let alone live on.</span></span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size:14px;">Two Lucha stars who are also essential to the running of Ultima Lucha, Rey De La Lucha Libre and Guerrero bring a sort of 'old-school' style to the fast-paced action and aerial assault the other three stars share. Rey focuses more on slowly taking down his opponents using traditional holds and submissions, and believes that a true finish is one with a submission, whereas Guerrero is a brawler through and through, with the pride of an ancient warrior, where Guerrero obviously got his name from, he is a nice hand to have as he knows how to keep the crowd invested while also keeping the action semi-grounded to reality. Rey actually became the "Booker" of the company in 1929, after Carlo Montoya gave up on booking himself in order to focus on other things, and so far the company has thrived.</span></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Well, there you have it - the beginnings of Lucha Libre in the CornellVerse <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Next post will be on the <strong>15th</strong> of October. </p><p>

Time to start the harder part - finishing the rosters and fleshing out the "Indy" scene in 1931, then finishing the rest of the Base Data before going in and starting all the yet to debut stuff. See ya on the 15th <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Update on Mod Progress

So I've been making steady progress into the carnival scene and have been finishing up the rosters of the 5 companies. I'm hoping to have this base set of worker data done by the 22nd so that I can get to work on title histories, indy events, narratives, etc.

Hopefully, if all goes to plan, the Base data for the mod should be out for beta testing by November 15th, 2019. After that goes up I'll begin working on the yet-to-debut stuff that comes after like, 1950. (So the base data will have enough to sustain itself and have workers debuting until probably around 1949-1955, whichever year ends up having the last yet to debut bunch.)

Will post more workers here over the next couple of days heading towards the 22nd.

Currently have around 100 out of the 230 or so planned starter characters in the data. Will keep working towards that over the course of this week.

<p>Love the ideas here. Don't normally go for modded but will definitely give this a spin.</p><p> </p><p>

One question about the German chap - the Olympics are every 4 years so it'd have been 1920 or 1924 - unless the CV is a year off of course <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Ah! I didn't know that, guess I'll have to change that accordingly for the beta release next month. Thanks for the catch! :)
