Promotion Momentum Decreasing Despite Good Shows

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the game - C-verse, NYCW - I'm almost done with year 2 and we're doing great, regional size, turning a profit, show ratings increasing, audience increasing, etc.

But I've noticed that my promotion momentum is dropping, seemingly after every show. I'm at the point where the more shows I do, the more profit I make. I've been running a weekly show and one "annual event" level show, to simulate a weekly TV show (even though we're not on anywhere) and a "PPV." My show ratings are going up because of my popularity increasing, I think, and our attendance is within a certain range with no wild swings. I just can't figure out why I'm losing momentum. Too many shows?

Is it because there aren't any regional battles for me? MAW and PSW have gone under, leaving me and RIPW in the region - not enough for a battle. Does momentum decline if there's no battle? The wrestling industry is A(92) and rising, so I don't think that's it.

As you've guessed, winning regional battles can give you a momentum boost so if they have disappeared AND you were regularly winning the regional battles you will have spiked your momentum in battle, but will slowly lose it down to the level your shows are usually at.</p><p> </p><p> Competitive regions can be tough if you aren't the best due to the potential damage you get.... but the rewards of being the best in a region can really help too. People tend to overlook how beneficial being in them can be, because they can also help to generate new stars in your area as a bunch of companies provide exposure to a number of workers too. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I always had big issues with momentum because I liked to bring in a couple workers for just a few appearances to fill out tournaments or just work a few shows (as the indies are known to do), but once the contracts were fulfilled and expired, my company momentum tanked because I had "lost" those workers, despite having put on great shows. It didn't seem to have to do with regional battles either, because the momentum dropped the same day the workers contracts expired.

Thanks for the replies - that all explains it. I was previously in four regional battles and winning them all. Now, I am not in any. I also had my popular world champ in a 9-month title reign poached by RIPW, along with my top heel. I had no idea they were a developmental brand for SWF so I didn't think anything of it when they offered that first round of contracts :(

Yeah, RIPW can be a killer on the American indies. They have Eisen money, and for some reason they feel the need to hire everyone they possibly can, even rehiring people who left SWF or RIPW years ago.

Funnily enough, I've seen RIPW hire almost everyone possible, but I've pretty much never seen someone from RIPW turn into a star. They almost always debut in SWF, and then are let go a few months later.
