They hype the matches we’ll see tonight, especially the main event of Terry Taylor and Tommy Rich going up against the Long Riders with James J. Dillon in the corner. We’ll also hear from Gary Hart, Tully Blanchard and much more! Dick Slater vs Robert Fuller In Fuller’s debut on the show he makes a good showing for himself but Slater is too much. Once Slater makes his comeback he ends the match with a swinging neckbreaker. Winner by Pinfall: Dick Slater David Crockett is joined by Gary Hart. Hart talks up the Ugandan Giant Kimala and references what he did to his opponent in Winston Salem last week. Hart promises more destruction and says that no one is safe! After the break Tony Schiavone is joined by Paul Jones and the Barbarian and Superstar Billy Graham. Jones says that they’re issuing a challenge for anyone to step up and challenge his men but he doesn’t think anyone will because you’re looking at the strongest tag team in the world. The Barbarian w/Paul Jones and Superstar Billy Graham vs Owen Hart Poor Owen. The kid has guts but he is demolished by the Barbarian who eventually ends the match with a diving headbutt off the top rope. Winner by Pinfall: The Barbarian After the break we’re shown a pre recorded video of the NWA World Television Champion Tully Blanchard and the Chief Executive Officer of Tully Blanchard Enterprises, Bobby Heenan. They’re sitting poolside and as Blanchard talks Heenan is happily sipping some kind of colorful drink with an umbrella. Blanchard says most of the idiots watching this would look at him and think that is the life they want to live but the life he has is not good enough for a man like Tully Blanchard! He wants more. He’ll get more. And he’s going to get it any way he likes. Terry Taylor and Tommy Rich vs the Long Riders w/ James J. Dillon Back and forth action with both teams controlling long stretches of the match. Just as Rich gets the tag and clobbers Bart with a lariat, Dillon gets on the apron. Rich grabs Dillon and Taylor enters the ring but referee Earl Hebner stops him. This allows Bass to roll in the ring after reaching into his tights and nails Rich in the back of the head. Bass puts Bart on top of Rich and when the referee turns he counts to three. Winners by Pinfall the Long Riders Following the last commercial break, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair joins David Crockett. Flair says that every time he walks out among these people he’s reminded of what this belt means. It means you are looked at as the best wrestler walking God’s green earth and it means you have a challenge around every corner. Every wrestler from coast to coast and from every promotion wants to be the one to take this belt from the Nature Boy but here’s a spoiler, they can’t do it. The NWA World Championship means he’s the man and if you want to be the man you’ve gotta beat the man. WOOOOOOO. Crockett thanks us for tuning in and urges us to watch them again next week. They hype tonight’s show especially the main event which will see the NWA Tag Team Championships on the line when Dusty Rhodes and Manny Fernandez defend their titles. James J. Dillon and the Long Riders come out. Dillon is irate that his men are not the ones getting the title shot tonight. He claims it’s a conspiracy by the NWA and ‘your brother’ as he points a finger at David Crockett. Bass says that sooner or later those belts will be around the waists of him and Bart and nobody can stop that. Rick Rude vs Don Kernodle Rude is in control early on and shows off his strength in manhandling Kernodle throughout the match but he still finds time to play to the ladies in the crowd and that is when Kernodle catches him off guard and puts on a comeback. Rude however shuts it down with a vicious clothesline and then seals the deal with his neckbreaker Schiavone refers to as the Rude Awakening. Winner by Pinfall: Rick Rude: David Crockett announces that tickets are now on sale for a big night of action happening in two weeks in Norkolk, Virginia. Stars such as Dusty Rhodes, Magnum T.A., and the NWA World Champion Ric Flair will be on hand! Arn Anderson w/Ole Anderson vs Jerry Stubbs You have to feel for the veteran Stubbs in this one. Arn beats him up in the ring and when he’s thrown through the ropes to the outside Ole roughs him up. Finally Arn puts him away with a spinebuster which gets a three count. Winner by Pinfall: Arn Anderson As the bell rings, Ole hits the ring and the two of them double team Stubbs, with Ole eventually coming off the second rope right on Stubbs ankle. Referees hit the ring and force the Andersons away but they’re smiling while they leave. Dusty Rhodes and Manny Fernandez © vs Dutch Mantell and Robert Fuller The champs are in rare form tonight and are feeling all the vibes from the crowd as they handle their business. It doesn’t take long for Fernandez to hit a flying forearm on Mantell which gives them the win. Winners by Pinfall and still NWA World Tag Team Champions: Dusty Rhodes and Manny Fernandez The tag champs join Tony Schiavone at the desk. Dusty says he heard what the Long Riders said. He saw what the Andersons did. Well if anyone is wanting to step up and take on the Dream and the Raging Bull step on up jack, because you gonna regret it. Fernandez backs that up and says these titles mean they are the best tag team in the world and if you want to take them, pack a lunch cause it will be a very long day! He says he’s enjoying everything that sunny Puerto Rico has to offer but next week he’ll be back and he’s going to have the biggest announcement in the history of Jim Crockett Promotions! Buddy Landel vs Ted Oates Landell spends the majority of the match either flaunting to the crowd or focusing on Oates’ leg with a vicious streak. He finally puts his opponent in the Figure Four and gets the victory. Winner by Submission: Buddy Landell The United States Champion Wahoo McDaniel comes out to the desk. He says that everywhere he goes people ask him why he did what he did a few months ago in Baltimore. The answer is simple. You’re looking at a former NFL player. You’re looking at the toughest man in the history of professional wrestling. And now some snot nose punk thinks he can take this belt? Oh no, that won’t be happening. Magnum keeps saying he wants this title. Well punk, you’re going to have to go through hell to try and it still won’t be enough! The Barbarian and Superstar Billy Graham w/Paul Jones vs The Guererros The Guererros show some skill and for a brief few moments their quick tags and seamless work have their two powerful opponents on their heels. That ends after a crushing clothesline from the Barbarian. From here it’s all downhill and ends with Mando in the full nelson courtesy of the Superstar. Winners by Submission: The Barbarian and Superstar Billy Graham Tony Schiavpone hypes the big event happening next Sunday in Norfolk, VA. He hypes bg names which will be there including the Nature Boy Ric Flair, American Dream Dusty Rhodes, Magnum T.A, and many more. Magnum T.A. vs Ron Bass w/James J. Dillon A good match which goes back and forth. Bass punishes Magnum for a long portion but the hero fights back and even a distraction from Dillon can’t derail his momentum. When Bass goes for an irish whip Magnum reverses it and on the rebound catches Bass with a belly to belly suplex for the win. Winner by Pinfall: Magnum T.A. A very happy Magnum T.A. joins David Crockett at the interview desk. Magnum says that when you look around Jim Crockett Promotions it’s clear they have the best talent in the world but unfortunately people like Tully Blanchard or Wahoo McDaniel and a dozen other names would rather take shortcuts. Well Magnum never has taken a shortcut in his life. He’s worked hard every single day the right way and he wants all the boys and girls to know that’s the way to do it and achieve your dreams. That fight ends when Heenan trips him and Blanchard lands an elbow drop on the back of his neck. A slingshot suplex later and it’s 123. Winner by Pinfall and still NWA World Television Champion: Tully Blanchard Paul Jones comes out to the interview desk. He says everyone in the world knows he has the two strongest men in professional wrestling, the Barbarian and Superstar Billy Graham. But their reputation has become a problem because no one will sign a contract to face them. The Champions, Rhodes and Fernandez are hiding and everyone else is taking their cue from them. Well he’s here to issue an open challenge. If anyone wants to face his men just name the time and the place and they’ll show up to hurt you really bad Rick Rude vs Ron Garvin Two tough guys who go move for move and attack for attack throughout the match. Garvin clotheslines Rude and sends him through the ropes to the outside. Garvin follows and the two men begin to fight, disregarding the referee’s count which soon reaches ten. No Contest (Double Countout) Rude and Garvin continue to brawl around ringside as referees and other wrestlers come to seperate them. David Crockett hypes the big event in Norfolk, Virginia happening next weekend. American Starship vs The Irwins Coyote and Eagle are in full control of this one from the opening bell but the Irwins surrpise them with a series of quick tags and they assume the momentum. When Scott Irwin distracts Coyote and the referee by seeking a chair outside the ring it allows his brother Bill to jab Eagle in the throat with a foriegn object and claim the victory. Winners by Pinfall: The Irwins Schiavone welcomes the owner of Jim Crockett Promotions and the NWA World Champion to the desk. Crockett thanks him and says that after months of negotiations the biggest night in JCP’s 50 year history will happen in three weeks and with that he hands it over to Flair. Flair says that in three weeks we’ll be seeing JCP Showdown in Atlanta right here live on TBS at 8 pm and he will be defending his title that night against the man the NWA decides is most worthy. Schiavone hypes this announcement, thanking both his guests and tells us to turn in next week for more World Championship Wrestling!
