A back and forth match which shows some glimpses of future potential but the Irwins lasso the momentum and hold it for the second half of the match with Bill Irwin pinning Mando Guererro following a bulldog.

Randy Savage comes out to the interview area. He says that the clock is running out for you-know-who. For whom does the bell toll? Only the Macho Man knows. But soon the whole world is going to know and when that happens it’s going to be bye-bye time, yea it will be.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kimala w/Gary Hart vs Denny Brown

 

Denny Brown looks very apprehensive and we soon find out why. Kimala charges as soon as Hart shouts something which sounds vaguely tribal a few moments before the bell rings and Brown spends the next three minutes being assaulted all over the ring before the Ugandan Giant hits the running splash for the win.

David Crockett introduces us to a piece of footage from earlier in the day. We see American Starship arriving at the studio and getting out of their car when the Andersons come out of nowhere and blindside them. A small brawl erupts which the Andersons quickly get the better of. Ole slams Eagle into a car door before slamming the door on his head several times as Arn and Coyote keep fighting. Freed up, Ole joins in and Coyote is quickly laid out as sirens are heard in the distance and the Andersons hightail it out of there.

 

 

 

Rick Rude vs Jerry Stubbs

 

Rude is in firm control and even has time to show off for the ladies in the audience. Stubbs never gets any offense in and it ends with the Rude Awakening.

Tony Schiavone welcomes Jim Crockett Jr to the desk. Crockett says there are a lot of rumors flying around about NWA World Champion Ric…..when he’s suddenly interrupted by the recently victorious Rick Rude. Rude demands to be named champion since he’s the man who ended Flair’s career. Crockett says Flair’s medical situation has yet to be determined. However, Flair is obligated to defend his NWA World Championship. The NWA Committee has named that defense to be taking place in Charlotte against Rick Rude in a return title match. If Flair cannot compete he will be stripped of the title. Rude again demands that he be given it when Flair doesn’t show up as Schiavone hypes this announcement and urges us to tune next week for more World Championship Wrestling.

Taylor and Malenko go move for move for the early match but Taylor takes it over and gets the win thanks to a sitdown powerbomb.

Taylor is all smiles as he leaves the ring but he stops short and approaches a girl in the front row. They seem to know each other and they share a light hug before Taylor moves on. The camera focuses on the girl who is blushing.

 

 

 

 

Tony Schiavone welcomes the Rock n Roll Express who are fired up about what happened last week. Robert Gibson says that Dillon and his flunkies have made the biggest mistake of their lives. Morton follows it up and says somewhere, someplace they’ll get their payback!

 

 

 

Sam Houston vs Curt Hennig

 

These two youngsters go back and forth and Hennig shows glimpses of superb athleticism but its Houston who pulls out the victory thanks to a running bulldog.

Randy Savage vs Jerry Stubbs

 

 

Savage attacks Stubbs from behind before the bell rings and never gives up the advantage. After running Stubbs from one end of the ring to the other, Savage ends it with a big elbow drop from the top rope.

Long Riders w/James J. Dillon vs The Rock n Roll Express

 

After the ambush seen on World Championship Wrestling the Rock n Roll Express start the match with fire, tearing into Bass and Bart and sending them to the outside to regroup with Dillon. When they do, the heels control the match until Gibson gets the hot tag. When a double dropkick send the Riders to the outside for the second time they’ve seen enough and head to the back with their manager.

Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff, and Khrusher Khruschev come down to the ring waving the USSR flag and sing the Soviet National Anthem to a chorus of boos from the crowd.

The match goes as one might expect. It is a vehicle to showcase the Russians at their most dastardly. Nikita ends it with a Russian Sickle that just about turns Hart inside-out.

Terry Taylor and Tommy Rich vs Wahoo McDaniel and Tully Blanchard w/Bobby Heenan

 

The dual champs control the match early on by isolating Rich in their corner but Taylor gets the hot tag and deals out punishment to both Blanchard and McDaniel. Heenan even gets a right hand when he pops up on the apron, much to the crowd’s delight. Taylor keeps the hot hand going for a few more minutes but a distraction by Heenan and a cheap shot from McDaniel leads to a slingshot suplex at the hands of Blanchard for the 123.

Gary Hart leads his Ugandan Giant down to the ring, striking fear into the eyes of the crowd.

 

 

Kimala w/Gary Hart vs Dick Slater

 

Dick Slater takes it to Kimala as soon as the bell rings and catches the savage off guard. Slater throws everything he has at the big man, but with one giant chop Kimala takes back control. With Hart shouting orders, Kimala begins to decimate Slater before finishing him with a running splash.

The Andersons are in the ring and when Coyote comes out he’s alone. The champions get a kick out of this until Coyote points to the aisle and his surprise partner comes down to the ring to a massive cheer.

 

 

Dusty Rhodes climbs into the ring doing a little taunting and a little dancing and the Andersons are clearly not happy.

 

 

 

Ole and Arn Anderson © vs Starship Coyote and Dusty Rhodes

 

The Andersons begin the match by beating up on Rhodes and Dusty sells every attack like he’s being murdered with the crowd eating it up. Finally Coyote gets the hot tag and the young man cleans house including a press slam on Arn. Ole breaks up a pin attempt but Rhodes is back in and it’s a four man brawl. Ole takes a tumble to the outside and Dusty nails Arn with the Bionic Elbow when Earl Hebner forces him out of the ring. Ole slides in and drops Coyote with one punch before stuffing something back into his trunks. He puts Arn on top and then holds off Rhodes as Hebner counts to three.

Standing across the ring from each other the champion and challenger are introduced to the crowd where it’s apparent Flair is the clear fan favorite

As soon as the match begins Flair is out for blood and when he’s not lighting up Rude’s chest with chops he’s targeting the left knee. Rude fends him off but as the match goes on it’s clear his leg is compromised and he can barely walk on it as he attempts to overpower the champion. Flair is looking worn out and Rude slowly turns him into position for the Rude Awakening but with the referee out of position Flair kicks backwards, nailing Rude with a low blow. Rude doubles over and Flair quickly puts him on his back and locks in the Figure Four. Rude is writhing in pain but he’s nowhere close to the ropes. Tommy Young is close by asking him if he submits and right before Rude slaps the mat he grabs Young by the shirt and punches him. Young falls back and while holding his jaw motions for the bell. Flair releases the hold and Rude rolls to the outside very much hobbled.

 

Winner by Disqualification and still NWA World Champion: Ric Flair

 

 

 

As Rude limps up the ramp, clearly frustrated and angry Flair gets his hand raised and the referee hands him his title. When the decision is announced the crowd erupts in cheers.

We hope Gene Petit made enough from this match to pay for the Tylenol he’ll need for a few days. Barbarian brutalizes him as Jones taunts him from the outside until a diving headbutt from the second rope puts an end to it.

He sees potential and talent and he says he wants to cultivate it, Steamboat only needs to agree to sign a contract. Heenan offers it and Steamboat actually reads it over before shaking his head. Tony is reading over his shoulder and questions Heenan why there is a clause saying Steamboat can never challenge Tully Blanchard for the NWA Television Championship.

 

Heenan begins blathering excuses but Steamboat has heard enough and shoves the contract in Heenan’s chest, in the process shoving him down on his rear. Steamboat tells Tony that he thinks he has a new goal now and walks off with a smile.

 

 

 

Terry Taylor vs Michael Hayes

 

A good match but Taylor is clearly in charge and though Hayes gets ample offense in the match Taylor takes over late and ends it with a fisherman suplex.

Terry Taylor comes over to the interview desk. He seems distracted and when David Crockett asks him he mentions the young girl who’s in the audience again. He sheepishly says they’re old friends and he hasn’t seen her a long time but it’s great to have her support.

 

 

Before he can go further Randy Savage runs into view and blindsides Taylor. Savage lays on a ruthless beating, at one point bashing Taylor’s head into the floor as the crowd screams. A wild eyed Savage gets up, pointing an accusatory finger at the camera...or someone behind it...and declares this is all their fault!
